This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
I watched the country women musical the other night and this song and the way it was just touched me. I recorded it and have played it many a time. I just wanted to share with those who didn't see the show.
How can I be up so early and miss the number one spot on the blog!!!???
Morning TINA and Happy Mother's Day to you. I hope you have an enjoyable restful day after you get off work.
I saw this song on the country show honoring women singers last week and loved it. I like the song but I loved how Vince Gill and Carrie Underwood sang it. I hope you will watch the full recording because her best is after the guitar middle part. I do hope you all enjoy it.
Di~ I was up before you....ya know....at 2:30am~ I've had a great Mother's Day so far and it's only 7am~ I checked the boys' room before I left for work, and BOTH boys were in there asleep! Then, when I got in my car, I found one of my daughter's photos on my steering wheel and she added "Happy Mother's Day!" I love you! to it.....made me smile~ And we're supposed to go to the movies again today after work.....I may even leave early~ :D
Enjoying a lovely breakfast of bacon courtesy of MR. LANE!!! Heading back to WESconsin in about an hour. This weekend was a blast with my LOHO....so needed!!
DIANNE, I'M JUST YOUR EVERYDAY GRANDMOTHR. A CHRISTIAN AND I LOVE MY LORD. I WAS MOVED TO TEARS LISTENING TO THIS VIDEO. IF IT DIDN'T TOUCH YOU NOTHING WILL.BY THE TIME IT WAS OVER I WAS PRAISING HIM. WHAT A WONDERFUL MOTHERS DAY GIFT. I'M JUST SITTING HERE WAITING FOR MY SUNDAY CHURCH SERVICE TO COME ON BUT I COULDN'T BE MORE BLESS IF I ACTUALLY COULD GO TO MY CHURCH HERE IN TOWN. TV FULL THE VOID NOW. THANK YOU MY SWEET CHILD OF GOD AND MAY HE BLESS YOU OVER AND OVER FOR THE BLESSING YOU GAVE HERE TODAY ON MOTHERS' DAY.
Dianne - I haven't read the comments but I listened to the song. I can hardly see with the tears in my eyes. It was beautiful. I love Carrie Underwood and I love that song. Thank you for starting my Mother's Day off on such a nice note.
Dianne - I wish I had seen that show. I didn't even know it was on. I should check the guide more often. I saw you in area 51 and I wondered why you were up so early. Tina should give you first.
TAMPAGRANNY- I am glad someone else was moved to tears. I hadn't read the comments before I heard the song and I had no idea what had been said. It could have been all the non-believers who preceded me.
I have been up only half an hour but it has been a lovely Mother's Day already. I am sitting in the den. Jack brought a blanket and covered my knees (it isn't warm yet today) and a glass of Tropicana. Tango, Tia and Teddy brought me cards. Tia's card has 3 little white dogs on it blowing bubble gum. The one in the middle has the popped bubble all over her face. Inside says "Let's face it, you're stuck with me" Happy Mother's Day, love Tia. The next one is the face of a very ugly frog. Inside, "Motherhood it's not for the squeamish! Happy Mother's Day. Love Tango. The last one is of a beautiful cat wearing a crown. Inside -" Everyday you sparkle but today you rule! Happy Mother's Day." Love from Teddy. Now I may be prejudiced but I think my "fur babies" are pretty intelligent to go out and find cards like that.
Was that Reba McDonald? I saw her acting with John Boy in a video of a song about the lights going out in Georgia....and let me just say...its a good that her thing is singing...because her acting was awful....
And I saw another where she was singing "Fancy"...."Fancy" is the name of a song.... At a point in the song after Fancy has done a little whoring she says..."I got me a Georgia mansion and an elegant New York townhouse flat"....
I asked my friend that was witnessing this also... just how you get an elegant New York townhouse flat!!??
He said the only thing he could think of was dynamite....
There is another song called L.A. International Airport. Susan Raye recorded her version of the song in 1971 and it has been adopted as the official song of LAX. If you go to the LAX website there it is.....I like the song but she says some things that don't makes sense....
she sings...
Stewardess in a mini-skirt.. Hippie in a leather shirt Starlet on her way to Naples Rome While I'm wonderin' where it's at.. I see a Paris diplomat College kids are tryin' to get back home...
How does she know who these people are and where they are going? Naples Rome?
and I love this...
"while I'm wonderin' where it's at.. I see a Paris diplomat..."
where whats at? And I assume she means a French Diplomat...but how does she even know that??
It goes right back to the "elegant New York townhouse flat"
And Coal Miners Daughter...
"The work we done was hard.. at night we'd sleep cause we were tarred"...
And why is Reba in this video all a-flutter saying she hopes she can get thru this? ...while I'm hoping she can't so there will be less I have to listen to...
So many of these people have amazing voices...they just seem wasted on twanging and yodeling to me...
This song brings back memories...especially of one piano recital that I did as a guest of one on my music teachers during a trip home....it was on Sunday afternoon and at the church.....
I playing one of my own compositions....it starts with Amazing Grace and busts into How Great thou Art....very dramatic and breathtaking...especially for those who were already short winded after listening to all the children play "Moonlight Sonata" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"....
At least after I played they didn't feel as though they has wasted an entire afternoon....
precious selection Dianne...Thank you for sharing that...you can't miss with Reba!!....
I am excited about today. At three o'clock all my children and grandchildren will be here for a picnic. I can't wait. I feel so blessed. This is probably it for me on the blog until tonight. Have a great Mother's Day to all the mothers out there or all who are still lucky enough to have mothers. I won't think about how sad it is that I am taking flowers and a balloon out to the cemetery instead of down to Glenwarren. I know Joan is having a good day with our mom in heaven. See you later.
I just skimmed the comments. Tina - Thank you for answering my questions. So LoHo is Lois Lane. I should have said, "I am glad you had a nice time with Lois Lane. I left out the word "time" and the sentence didn't make any sense. I know you love being first at everything you do. That is what makes you successful, your Type A personality.
Miguelito~ besides the fact that you were really funny today (i have tears rolling down my face)...I'm just SO happy that it's not just MY songs you don't care for~ (sorry Di......I'm just SOOOOOO happy!!!!!)
Michael - How could I have missed your comment when I skimmed them? I guess because it was so long I just didn't see it. I loved your entertaining essay but I must tell you that was Carrie Underwood singing. I am sure you knew that but it just didn't fit in with your story. Remember Carrie Underwood won American Idol a few years back. She is fantastic.
DI: We saw THOR..it was pretty good..heavy on special effects..lite on story..but the guy who played the title role..ooo lah lah..he was a cutie..other than my pretzel being cold..we had a good time! :D
We were busy busy Friday and Saturday..I'm not used to that much stuff going on..but I liked it!! Things should settle down some today.. ;D
It was 102 yesterday..according to our backyard thermometer..and will be in high 90's today..then we cool down into the 80's..that will keep us from swimming because the water doesn't heat up..but it's going to get really hot soon enough..so that's ok..for now..
I am heading out to go witness a fabulous lunch with my daughter and maybe some of my money flying out of my wallet. Later I will witness my Grandkids eating ice cream cake.
You know I was just sitting out on the deck holding Belle and singing her a song and I remembered Carrie!
I saw her movie years ago...the one where they poured that bucket of pigs blood on her head...
Shes prettier than she was back then...except her teeth seem to be more "buck" now....
Kudos to Carrie for making "high school bullying" movies even back then. I think the people that treated her so badly certainly learned their lesson....thats what I'm talkin' about!
Zona-my-baby - Thank you for the Mother's Day phone call. You were the first of my kids to call. It wouldn't be Mother's Day without a call from you. I love you my little one. Mama Tink
I spend money like its on fire when I am with Craig and his boys....and upon getting ready for my departure I can sense them jockeying for their places in line for a little going away cash....MINE!!
Its a sickness I tell you...on my part....not the vultures....I mean...thats what they do!!
MICHAEL, MICHAEL.....Now I so agree with you when it comes to Sugarland songs but will have to disagree with you when it comes to Carrie Underwood AND Reba. I will start letting you know when the country music shows are on...that way if you ever go to the Grand Old Opery you will know all the songs!!
Morning LYNN AND TINK AND JODI AND MO. Hope you all have a good day and nice weather too.
TAMPA GRANNY: I am so glad you enjoyed the song. It touched me also plus I just think she is a great singer.
so I guess I'll never miss a Country Music Awards show again!!
I watched one years ago and they didn't give out trophys like the Oscar or the Emmy...or even the Grammy...
They gave bags of feed...corn cob pipes and Minnie Pearls hats to the winners...along with pails and pitchforks....you know...stuff these people could use back at home...
OH! ...and HAY!! I'll bet they gave away a hundred bails of hay that night after the audience was done sitting on them!!
Happy Mother's Day, all Mom Owls! Tink, your picnic sounds like it's going to be fabulous!
From A51: Michael... OMG you pushed one of my buttons with your cop asking for sexual favors in lieu of a ticket. That's a big fantasy of mine... because I'm a sucker for men in uniforms... especially policeman drag!
Remind me to tell you what happened on my way home from IAH in 1987...small town...late at night.. lonely highway...uniform straining against...well...I'll tell you...
..just as soon as you answer my questions that I asked 3 times to no avail about the launch!!
Now that's an incentive! OK, what I remember about your questions was where we go from here, right?
Well, for the foreseeable future, Russian Soyuz will be ferrying US astronauts to and from the Space Station. The current schedule is until 2016 or so. Meanwhile, NASA is supposed to be A) helping private commercial companies develop transportation systems capable of sending both cargo and humans to low earth orbit (where the station is), B) developing a new heavy launch vehicle and multi-purpose crew vehicle that will form the basis of a new space transportation system with the capability of supporting crewed missions to destinations beyond the Earth-Moon system, and C) investing in the new and innovative technologies needed for these deep-space missions.
Right now, the first target is a voyage to land on and explore a near Earth Object (NEO; an asteroid) in the early 2020s. Then, in the 2030's, it's supposed to be on to Mars.
I have all these caveats, like "supposed to be", because we need a plus up in our budget to invest in the technologies and develop this next-generation transport system. Obama called for a 6 billion increase last year, but Congress didn't go along, and the new cost-cutting Republicans are either going to keep our budget at 2010 levels, or reduce back to 2008 levels.
In which case, the answer to your question "what comes next" is: I don't know. I only know that we likely won't be going beyond the moon in most of our lifetimes.
MICHAEL: I can hear your toe tapping all the way to Denver. I agree with ZONA, hope you received some of that corn money!!
ZONA: Glad you liked the movie. I just don't think I would like it. I am more into the "girlie" movies. Speaking of...TINA, what movie did you go to today and was the one yesterday good?
Di~ yesterday's movie was cute...love all the actors in it. Today we saw Limitless.....we all liked it.....it was interesting and Bradley Cooper is HOT HOT HOT!~

Good Morning Tina, Dianne, Maureen, Jodi and TAMPAGRANNY.
Tina - Why were you up at 2:30, was that to stay up or just a trip to the euphemism?
Dianne - I wish I had seen that show. I didn't even know it was on. I should check the guide more often.
I saw you in area 51 and I wondered why you were up so early. Tina should give you first.
Jodi - I am so glad you had a nice with your LOHO (not sure what that is). You deserve a good rest. (((HUGS)))

I also asked you if you were to get to be at the launch....as a Nasa guy...would you have a better vantage point from which to watch the launch?
I think I read that it may be delayed again....
Might you get to meet the captains wife!!?? Or the captain and his crew?
Thanks for th other answers!
I hope everyone is having a pleasant day be you "mother", "mutha", or neither.
MICHAEL: I can hear your toe tapping all the way to Denver. I agree with ZONA, hope you received some of that corn money!!
ZONA: Glad you liked the movie. I just don't think I would like it. I am more into the "girlie" movies.

ahhh... yes, I'd be able to get on base, which means I'd be able to watch it from a parking lot about 3 miles from the tower.
That would be in a separate location from the VIP section, though, so no "Gabbing" for me.
And, anyway, the point's moot. I leave tomorrow, return on Thursday, and the launch has been postponed until May 16 at the earliest.
:(
Quiet day in the nest today. I hope everyone had a nice day.
