Black & White

by Iteach

Lately, I have been thinking about watching more black and white movies.  I feel that  there are so many good ones that I have not seen that I should make the time to watch.  It is always on my list to do when I get time to relax.  I have two black & white movies that are my absolute favorites that I have watched over an over. The first one is Arsenic and Old Lace.  Just by chance it was on TV about 15 years ago and I couldn't stop laughing.  I fell in love with Cary Grant and the two old ladies, wonderful acting.  The other Black & White movie is The Bells of St. Mary's.  I fall in love with that movie over and over again when I watch it.  Bing's singing is beautiful and Sister Mary Benedict's devoted faith makes me feel good inside.

Do you have a favorite Black & White movie to add to my list?

Good Moaning! Hi tina and Bebbi.

I love old black and white movies!

What a way to start the day. Come into the office and it is 'raining' in my file room. Out of the light fixtures and thru the ceiling panels right over where all the machines are and in the middle of the room. Fax, postage machine, shredded are all wet. There is nothing above us except another office, so who the hell knows where this is coming from.

I have a feeling this will be a long day................

so don't touch it....lol

Michael, I believe that it may be from the newly installed terlit upstairs. Don't worry- I am not touching anything! I am just positioning garbage cans under the major leaks..

ITEACH: I love The Bellboy with Jerry Lewis..it's always been one of my favorite movies. I also really like The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. There are so many great black and white movies..for a while they were on a colorizing kick..I'm glad that stopped!

TINA: Moanin' Gorgeous! I like Bob Hope more in movies than on TV..his timing is wonderful.

MICHAEL: Giant is one of my favorite movies! I don't think I've ever seen it in black and white..yikes..I hope I wasn't watching a colorized version!!

You know..I'd never watched the Tony's until you suggested it a few years ago..now it's the only awards show I watch! :)

GOLDIE: I hope they find and fix the leak soon! What a mess!

BEBBI: When I saw MICHAEL's suggestion of Some Like It Hot I thought of you immediately...Tony Curtis!! :D

SHIRLEY: Triple love The Apartment and To Kill a Mockingbird! I just saw Casablanca for the first time a couple months ago..another great movie!

The kids came home last night, yeah!

They spent a lot of time last week with "he who shall not be named" and they will again one more week in July.

I really should go visit Jodie an Goldie that week.

Good Morning Tina, Bebbi, Goldie, Lynn, Michael, Shirley and Zona-my-Baby. The nest is very busy this morning or has everyone flown in and out again.

Goldie - I hope your day improves. What a way to start Monday.

Just_Lin - (((((Hugs))))

Tinka said...

Iteach - I love the old movies too. I think the two that I have watched the most times are "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" and "To Kill a Mockingbird". Of course that doesn't include Alastair Sim's "Christmas Carol". Our Christmas tradition is to watch that movie on Christmas Eve. I bought the colourized version but we watched five minutes of it and changed back to the Black and White version. The colour ruins the movie.
We also watch "It's a Wonderful Life" each year. I love "Harvey" too. I have so many of them on video. I wonder if they will come out in DVD?

I am still in the recovery stage of the flu. I hope to get back to my water therapy this week. I think tomorrow may be too soon however. Maybe Thursday is more realistic.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy week.

ITEACH: Fun blog....I like Singing in the Rain....( think it was black and white. Thanks for the blog today.

I have been MIA for so long but do read and "lurk" each day on my phone. I have been dedicating so much time to learning this new phone. I think I have some of it down pretty good now with only about 1000 more things to learn!! Thank goodness Louis has the same phone and has even had patience with me!!!!! (usually i wear it thin on computer, etc., things) lol

TINA: You are so stunning this AM. I heard your guy McDreamy is going off Grey's.....is that true?

ZONA: Glad you liked that movie the other day. I am sure Louis will be going soon to see it. There seems to be a lot of those blowing up movies out right now. I am waiting for the one with Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks. I think that comes out soon and looks really fun.

J/L: I am thinking about you and your family. I am sorry you are going through all of this right now.

Dianne/Denver said...

GOLDIE: Is it still dripping? I HATE water mishaps. I had some really bad experience with a house long ago and still haven't gotten over it. I hope not too much was ruined.

BEBBI: Well, it looks like your pull worked. My SIL is working steady now....thanks :) You must be very important there!!!

Boy SHIRLEY, you really know a lot of movies that are black and white. I don't think I would want to play Trivia with you. How ya' been lately?

MICHAEL: Looks like you and SHIRLEY have a game on right now. Hmmmm, full house....what do you win....lots of bucks?

LYNN; Had the coffee yet? How are you feeling and how are the grandkids?

TINK: I am glad you are getting better each day. It takes a while to shake that flu/cold bug. We (knock on wood) haven't had any around our family lately.

Today I went for my six month cancer melanoma check up and all was good. I am very happy as I seem to always have a spot or two to point out that I am sure is melanoma.....it just scares me so much and I have been free of it for 12 years but I still get scared.

I am going to my volunteer job today at the Assisted Living. I call the Bingo today for the first time alone. I hope those people don't jump me if I do something wrong as they see to take it all pretty darn serious.

I will report in later and tell you all if I have any bruises or bumps!!!! :)

Di: I am, I am sorry it took so long, the paperwork got lost and I had to go to the President but we got it through for you. :) Glad I could help.

Di: Be Careful, you never want to put yourself between a senior and a bingo game..it gets mighty rough.. They take that shit seriously! yikes.

Happy Monday Owls.

Iteach, Some Like It Hot is a fave of mine. I also remember The Birds and how scared I was watching that movie. I have seen the movie again on TV recently and it made me laugh that I was so scared the first time I watched it. I could even see the strings on some of the fake birds, but it sure had us fooled in the 60s. We had to really use our imaginations in those days because they didn't have all the computer graphics that they have now. I think our imaginations have gone somewhat dormant (except for Michael whose imagination seems to be limitless) because of CGI.

Tina, you are moaning in all your glory today.

Zona, Casablanca is one of those classics I watch over and over. I have the anniversary edition of the DVD.

Shirley, I also love The Apartment. One of Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemon's finest imo.

Goldie, Has the water been dripping all weekend? Hope it gets fixed very soon.

Dianne, Congrats on a good check-up.

Lynn, I hope things are getting better for you.

Bebbi, Hello sunshine.

Tinka, I hope you feel well enough to go to your water therapy soon.

J/L, Safe travels. You and your Mom continue to be in my prayers. ♥

and I also forgot Mrs. Doubtfire!!"

great movie with Robin Williams and Harvey Fierstein ...and that Field woman....

I forgot to mention my favorite movie EVER- Father of the Bride with Spencer Tracy!

Ok, the source of the rainstorm in my office was not the 'terlit' it was the water cooler. The Counseling office above us put a new water bottle (Hey Culligan Man) up and it completely drained out onto the floor. Hence, through our ceiling.

While the plumber was looking for the cause (umm, the counseling center neglected to mention the mishap to management) he discovered 3 bottles off water in the ceiling tiles. 2 regular and 1 plastic coke bottle filled with water. All had experation dates of 2006. WTH??

Dianne, I am SO HAPPY that your 6 month check-up went so well!

Poor Goldie! How did the rest of the day go?

And Y]yes, congrats Dianne! That is good news!

Zona and Tinka: We must be kindred romantic spirits because my favorite B&W flick is The Ghost and Mrs Muir too!

Michael: LOVED LOVED LOVED The Tonys! Broadway may not be for just gays anymore, but you couldn't tell it from that broadcast! LOL!

Whabbear - I always knew you and I were romantic kindred spirits. Of course Zona is my daughter so that is the strong bond that we have.

Watching the hockey game. Canada is one game away from the Stanley Cup but they are getting badly beaten in Boston tonight. Then it's back to Vancouver for the 7th and final game. The winner takes home
the Cup.

We went to the library tonight and I found one Black & White Movie that I'm going to watch, "How Green was My Valley".

I think it won an Oscar or was up for one. Can't wait to see what it is like.

ah...movies on television. You know ...when I was a baby my parents were too poor to buy a crib...I had to sleep in the box the TV came in...

and when I was older.. for color TV my Father put one of those Christmas tree color wheels nears the TV..

who knew that soon at 10 years of age I would be on TV....on Mayor Chuckles Laff-a-Lot Club for a friends birthday celebration!!

I was so excited as Mayor Chuckles came down the line of attendees...speaking briefly with each one...I could barely wait for him to get to me for my television debut!!

I was going to do a recitation of the "To be..or not to be" soliloquy... 3rd act...first scene..from William Shakespeare's Hamlet...

FINALLY! It was MY TURN!! And I shall never forget his words as he spoke to me....

"Well hello BURR-TOP...how are you doing today!?"

burr-top? Oh my God....I looked and all the kids were staring at me...I looked into the studio for some escape from this humiliation and everyone there was staring at me too! All those eyes!! ..that seemed to say BUZZ-TOP BUZZ-TOP...HOW ARE YOU DOING? HOW ARE YOU DOING? HOW ARE YOU DOING?

it just kept getting louder and louder until finally I screamed and ran straight through the big paper bullseye and out the door...

what was to be my finest moment...dashed by a romper room clown...

DAMN YOU MAYOR CHUCKLES!!DAMN YOU!!

audience jumps to feet in thunderous ovation....and curtain!
