Shirley & Marcy

by Sac Barb

A mother was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. He didn't want his mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe. So she had an idea of how to handle it.

She asked a neighbour if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he wouldn't notice her. The neighbor said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, the neighbour and her little girl set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor girl he knew.  She did this for the whole week.

As the two walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy 's little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week.  Finally she said to Timmy , 'Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week?  Do you know her?'

Timmy nonchalantly replied, 'Yeah, I know who she is.'

The little girl said, 'Well, who is she?'

'That's just Shirley Goodnest ,' Timmy replied, 'and her daughter Marcy.'

'Shirley Goodnest?  Who is she and why is she following us?'

'Well,' Timmy explained, 'every night my Mum makes me say the
23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much.  And in the Psalm, it says, 'Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life', so I guess I'll just have to get used to it!'

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

And may Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today and always.

I know you smiled!

That photo was taken at the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco...I was minding my own business that morning and saw this good looking guy and innocently asked if he knew the way to San Jose....

WELL!! He started singing his answer...as he gently sat me on that sofa and proceeded to get almost close enough to kiss me then he pulled me up from the sofa...one of those orchestras that you can't see started to play...he spun me around and that began a romantic and very sexually choreographed version of Burt Bacharachs hit song!!
At the end...cut to doorway...and you would see us happily leaving for San Jose but alas...it wasn't to be...

The police were there and they arrested us and took us to homo jail!

Seems its was "No Song and Dance Reenactments in Public" week in San Francisco....they have many rules and regulations such as this and because of the large gay population they must be strictly enforced...

its essential so that the tourist don't get too much of a particular thing in one day when visiting the city by the bay....

It came about years ago when a Midwestern man and his wife were visiting and they had seen a lot of the same thing all day long and the husband remarked "if I see one more perfectly choreographed song and dance routine today I am going to just croak".....

Hence the rules...

and you thought it was just me on a sofa picking up tricks.....

Bebbilane said...

I never knew that had "homo" jails... wow..

That is the sweetest most romantic story Michael!... You have so many incredibly delicious stories.

well Bebbs...I didn't get my ass chapped in that one but I'll tell you one where I did sometime...ok?

ohh..sounds good Michael..gotta run, my Daddy is in town..going to see him now..have a great weekend all.

Hi.....How is everyone doing this nice Friday? Our weather is so pretty out....70 and nice breeze.

Fun blog BARB. How are you feeling? How is your PT appts going?

BEBBI: Have a nice visit with your dad and a good weekend.

MICHAEL: Wow....you do have some interesting stories. You should write a book!! Haven't been on for awhile and I am glad the Belle is okay from that dog scare. I would be upset if I were you too.

GOLDIE: Have a great anniversary celebration this weekend.

TINA: Are you still giving moaning lessons to TINK? I haven't seen her on her moaning at first yet. You must not be a very good teacher!!

TINK: Have a nice time at the trout farm and maybe practice what TINA sent you to learn :)

Not much going on around here. Lunch with a friend today and tomorrow and a picnic/bbq to go to on Sunday and our weather is "supposed " to be perfect.

Bebbi Congrats on being the prettiest today and thank you for the special prayer. xoxo

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb That was really cute. I could use Shirley Goodnest and Marcy following me around. I hope your neck is improving.

Just_Lin said...

Michael You and Bebbilicious have really been cracking me up today. I know live by San Francisco but when I was in high school in SoCal my art teacher, Mr. Moye, would come up to SF and go "honking". I can only imagine what that term might mean. Any ideas?

Just_Lin said...

Goldie Happy Anniversary. Have fun "celebrating".

Just_Lin said...

Tinka Have a nice time at the farm. Those moaning lessons of Tina's are sounding pretty racey.

Just_Lin said...

Tina Ball gag? What kind of lessons are you giving poor, innocent Tinka? LOL

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Sounds like you have a very nice weekend planned. We have rain on the way. My granddaughter is home now but it seems she has a mild case of Chicken Pox. Good thing I already had it as a kid since she was sleeping in my bed the other day.

Hi J/L and Dianne!!...

Was your teacher deaf? I found this in the Urban Dictionary..

Honking

Deaf people talking, or trying to.

Many people who are legally "deaf" can hear very limited frequency ranges, so their vocal patterns formed around the frequencies they were able to distinguish as a kid. Their speech sounds muted and does not contain details such as the sharpness of a hard "j" or "s" for example. The flat sound of this speech is usually referred to as honking since that's what it sounds like.
_________

I slso ran across something I had forgotten...A Tony Danza...omg!! I can't tell you here what a Tony Danza is but you can look it up...lol

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Did that come from your BlackBerry? Mine still doesn't woirk. : (

Just_Lin said...

Michael No, he wasn't deaf. He acted rather "upper crust" but loved to hear all the gossip. At the time, I thought it meant going out for drinks and maybe it does. I never thought about his sexuality but it is now obvious, in retrospect, that he was gay so maybe there is a totally different meaning.

Just_Lin said...

Michael Since "honking" can also mean disproportionate or excessive, I think he meant he was going to SF for a weekend of excess. He would return complaining of a major hangover.

Dianne/Denver said...

JL: I got a new blackberry today and all of a sudden it llet me post

sacBarb said...

Hello Owls.

I got my computer back again and it seems to be ok now. Let's hope it stays that way.

I'm glad you all liked the blog. I thought it was really cute. Thanks for your comments.

Bebbi, you look especially lovely today.

Goldie, Happy Anniversary to you and the Mr. I'm sure you'll have fun with whatever comes up.

Tina, glad to hear the good news about your Dad.

Dianne, the PT is going well. I have a little more mobility now, but still not enough to drive.

J/L, So sorry to hear about your Mom. Will continue to keep her and your family in prayer.

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb I'm glad you're getting some benefit from the therapy. Thank you for the prayers, too. I appreciate it very much.
