9/11
I know I have blogged about this dreadful day before, but when this day is here I can't think of anything else other than the 9/11 attacks on our country. Today marks the 8th anniversary, and to me it seems as if it was yesterday.
I remember exactly where I was when I saw the first plane hit the tower, I was watching our the local news that broadcasts out of NYC, they were reporting at the time that a local plane, perhaps that veered off course had hit the tower. From that moment on my life had changed as I watched the events unfold throughout the day. The memory of that day, is front and center, I will never forget the dread of realization that our beloved country had been attacked by terrorists. I do not believe any other theory that may be out there about 9/11. My belief has been and will always be, that we were attacked by terrorist's who despise our country and the American people. The hatred they have for us is way beyond what we can comprehend. When and if the opportunity arises for them, they will surly strike again, as remorse is certainly not something they are aware of.
In my eyes they are cowards, they prey on the weak and unexpected, as they know they will prevail. If they were truly as strong as they profess to be, they would go fourth to meet the mighty and expecting, but that would surly mean they would fail, so they take the cowardly way out so the win is theirs.
When President Bush declared to retaliate, I was cheering him on, as I wanted revenge. At the time my anger was all I could feel, so it did not matter to me that a war was beginning, as my hate for them was as strong as their hate for America.
As I type this my heart pounds with the thought of this day 8yrs ago. I know I will never change my views of this day or the terrorists that made this day what it is.
I will watch the entire memorial on TV as I do every year, my office will be quiet, the phones will not ring, not many words will be spoken. As I watch the names of the deceased being read my thoughts will be with all those who have lost their lives and their loved ones who must go one without them.
9/11 a day of sadness, 9/11/01 a day that has changed America forever.

NO DeeDee....but I still love ur ass~
Well it looks like the two beauty queens have been up and at it early. Hello Tina & DeeDee! Good morning to everyone dropping by later!
Goodmorning...9/11 is a day that I will never forget and I too had an enormous amount of anger that this took place in our country. Yes, the cowards that they were to do such an evil thing to human beings. They attacked America and they thought they would weaken us by what they did. It strengthen us in many ways.
I worked for Verizon and we had offices in WTC 1 and all our employess did get out but they were all affected beyond words. I was at work in Upstate NY when my sister called to say that the WTC had been hit by a plane, I said in a loud voice, the WTC has been hit by a plane, someone ran to our conference room and turned the TV on. We all left our positions and went in to watch. I had just walked out of the conference room when the first tower came down, I am thankful that I did not see it happen at the moment, I watched it later on. I still have that tremble feeling within me when I think of what took place on 9/11.
We employees received a CD of pictures from Verizon that showed the first hours of 9/11 and the rescue/recovery. I watched it once when I first received it, it is tucked away and the images are so fresh in my mind. I was prideful that our President spoke in such strength at the time of the attack.
Flags appeared on buildings and homes throughout our country to represent our love for our country. My house and my lawn respresents my love for my country.
None of my neighbors had a flag on their home until 9/11. Some have stopped displaying their flag.
This is something I kept in my favorites since 9/11:
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/memorial/index.html
My thoughts today are to the people that lost their life and to their families. And to you and you and everyone that was affected by this senseless act of cowardness.
My anger has turned to resolve. I pray that peace will come to this world that we live in.
I was going to skip commenting on the blog because really, what do you say? Then I realized that whilst I was horrified at what was happening, the bravery those at the ground zeroes showed made me proud to be an American.
Gloria..
I need to find the resolve, I still have anger, more so today as I watch the names being read. I have cried several times already.
The same tremble feeling you have I do as well.
I am sicken to my stomach by these terrorist and my hope is they all rot in hell.. and the cave Bin Laden lives in, may that cave collaspe on top of him not killing him for days, so he rots there and his death is slow...
We have a flag flying at my home as well..
Bonacci...
They were very brave, many lost their lives running towards the trade center instead of away..
Tina..
:O) on your cheaqting 1....
Tina...
Where r u going till tomorrow nite?
My office is so quiet, and I knew it would be, it always is till all the names are read, and the broadcast is over..
Gloria..
I pray for the same, but unless there is a miracle and all terrorists are killed, peace we shall not have..
Quick (((((HUGS)))) for everyone before I go to mum's. Sorry I haven't been around much. Family stuff has been difficult lately. When I come home I escape into farming and fish on FB. Sorry. I hope everyone is well. Welcome Gloria!
Let me explain my resolve in what I needed to do for me. I found that I wanted everyone that was not born on the soil of United States to leave our country. I wanted everyone gone....I felt many of our "roots" of being a American were changing. Our forefathers of our soil made our Declaration of Independence and independently we stood. Over the years, many things have changed. Some I do not agree with. Something as simple as trying to remove the word God from our money.
We will get BinLaden and his group with the resolution that what goes around, comes around. We are fighting a war in his land now. Karma.....it will happen.
Good Morning Hooters.
Carol- a very moving blog. I too remember exactly the moment I was watching and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Then the cold fear of my sister and brother in law both traveling that day for work.
My family was safe, but I know someone who lost their bro-in-law. He workded for Canter Fitzgerald. The father of 5 young children.
Every year I leave flowers at the fire department, every year my husband leaves a small American Flag. We did that for 6 years before we knew the other was doing it. It is the only way other than flying our flag that we feel we can show our respects.
Here in Madison, they were blowing all the sirens this morning, and they are lowering the flags at different times to commerate the times of the attacks. No one must ever forget- or forgive such a horrible act against the Americans or other nationalities who lost their fellow citizens that day in those towers, planes and the Pentagon.
((Hugs))) to you too Shirley!
I forgot to say WELCOME Gloria!

25!
Carol: We have, of course, talked many times about the anger and the outrage everybody feels towards the perpetrators of 9/11. The pain that those cowardly murderers brought to so many thousands of families boggles my mind - literally - to this day. I have no problem with your preferred scenario for Bin Laden's demise!
"To this day" brings me to the point I want to make. From our perspective now, 8 years on, enough time has passed without a single additional terrorist attack on US soil where there is at least a fighting chance that 9/11 will go down in history as an aberrant event, rather than as the beginning of a new chapter in the history of this country where such attacks are commenplace.
If that is so (and, of course, I can't know the future; Another attack could come at any time) then I think the important issue going forward arising from 9/11 is the one Gloria touched on: did the attack actually make America stronger?
I hope so. This is a country not without its flaws, but on the whole, the basic wish of its founders, for a government of, by, and for the people, can't be beat. I think the world will be a better place if the United States survives and prospers.
Unfortunately, there is a threat to that prosperity, in the form of the gargantuan federal debt that has accumulated in the years since 2001. Much of that debt is due to the Iraq war, which in turn, may have been a manifestation of the understandable desire for revenge, to go after and punish the Muslim world.
I very much hope Bin Laden and his ilk weren't clever like foxes, and conceived 9/11, not just as a mechanism to kill and bring misery, but as an economic weapon as well. They certainly could not have envisioned the exact form that our response was going to take, and the specifics of how much money we'd end up sinking into the war.
But the fact remains. We are now saddled with an enormous economic time bomb. Let us hope that we can find a way to defuse it!
of course...like everyone....I remember the feelings of that day and the following days as things began to unfold.....sheer horror and amazement...
When Rosie O came back on the air....with an empty studio..there was comfort in that....Christine Ebersol was with her and she did a slow "Lullaby of Broadway" which helped me cry some of the emotion and stress from the situation out..
I loved the World Trade Center...it had defined the Manhattan skyline for over 30 years.....I had explored that complex many times and enjoyed "Windows On The World" more than once.....
In late July I returned to where it all stood...again....and had a deeply reflective moment...thinking of all the people who died...the first responders....imagining the noise and the chaos of that day.. and what must have been happening on the very spot where I stood.
Ground Zero...for me...is a difficult place to visit....and a difficult place to walk away from...
Goldie...Thank you for the welcome and everyone else that has graciously made me feel comfy here.
You stopping at the fire department leaving a flag and flowers is a form of our strength we all have now.
Whabby...you always take me down another road of thought and I agree with what you wrote but not to be discuss today concerning the economy. The safety measures that our country has taken against terrorists is my reference to strength.
I have read and watched everything I can get my hands over the last few years.....and there are so many holes in the story given to us by the governments investigation...
I'm not saying it was an inside job..but there needs to be a thorough investigation and report based on all the facts....WTC7 was the most perfect implosion I have ever seen.
The very idea that something other than what we were told happened that day is so hard to fathom that most people won't even look into the possibility....I wouldn't either......and then I saw one presentation with actual footage of WTC7 falling....and it took my breath away......thats when I started doing my own research. That film is from Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth.
I don't believe a word of what we were told....there are just too many unanswered questions and actual witness to the truth.
We were terrorized for a reason...and its not the reason you think or by a bunch of raghead extremists at the controls of Boeing 767's and 757's......America's pilots want to know the truth as well.
The truth is out there....and its not hard to locate....
Has anyone heard from Just_Lin?
I have been thinking about her..
Dee..
I was there as well, and it truly is a eerie feeling. I stood there thinking of all the chaos that day, it certainly put a tear in my eye.
Whabby..
I certainly agree.. the financial aspects of what occurred is def greater than anyone expected, and I think the caveman knew that as well, that is why he went after the Trade Center, which is the financial center of the states. I never said he was dumb, just a coward. And I also agree on the thought of punishing the Muslim world, our sights should have been on Afghanistan more than anything else..
Gloria..
Very well said...
Shirley..
I have thinking about you and your family. Hang in there.. Glad you are farming tho, as our crops certainly need a good farmer.. :O)
Well, I thought this topic would be hot and I thought people would either get emotional or remain silent.
One thing that struck me was what Carol said about people being killed running toward the Trade Center rather than away. It is a testament to the character of these heroes.
Now consider this; What if there was technology that could have disabled the pilots? Technology that was designed specifically for suicide bombers? Then consider our liberal media, who might decide to criminalize such technology to sell more newspapers and adverts with the controversy.
Our military is not in charge. Our media is. And our media has made us into pussies.
Just_Lin; We're worried about you... When you're up and around, would you let us know how you are?
Scrish; How's the head?
Hey Whab!! I heard the sonic boom this afternoon. Congrats!
Bonacci..
What was that Sonic boom all about? I was hoping a Sonic exploded, cause there burgers suck.. Oh but wait that sounds to cruel.. hope it exploded with no people in it are near it..
There that sounds better...
This is so kewl, it certainly put a smile on my face..
Carol, a sonic boom happens when something travels by that's going faster than the speed of sound. Today, I believe it was the space shuttle. We used to get those a lot here in SoCal, when our military was testing aircraft, etc. Now, not so much. When you hear the term, "Mach" (pronounced, mok) it means a multiple of the speed of sound (336,000 ft/sec).
Essentially, the aircraft arrives before the sound it is making does -- because it's traveling faster than that sound. It produces a double BOOM that's sometimes mistaken for an earthquake. Of course, whatever makes the sonic boom is long gone by the time you hear it.
Oh, and I offered congrats to Whab because the Boom means the Space Shuttle arrived home. Usually it goes to Florida, but I think the weather's bad there. So they come here.
A little tidbit... After my "bad" stroke, I was asked what the speed of light was as well as the speed of sound and other nerd questions. I answered those questions with no problem. Then I was given a map and asked to map out the way home. That, I couldn't do.
Bonacci...
Oh so that explains why everyone is saying they heard a sonic boom, we should have saved this for Wednesdays with Whabby ;O)
Bonacci..
At least you answered a question, I would say that was certainly a good
sign..
OK.. did some reading, and now I am sleepy.. off to bed for me..
c u all tomorrow..
I hope we hear from some the BBQer's in Sac, cause that would be fun..
I just spoke w/Bebbi... Mr. Bebbi was in hospital today w/Diverticulitis. I think that's what it's called. I don't know what it is, but apparently it hurts. She asked that I tell everyone "Hi".
Carol, yes I answered a question. A great improvement from the 4 day coma I was in. :D

Carol That was a beautifully written blog today. So many heroes that day. I am in awe of their courage.
Well, it took about 100 shots to get me numbed up this morning and it wore off fast. I was starting to hurt when I left the dentist's office, it took 20 min. to get home to the Vicodin and another TWO HOURS for it to go into effect. It was two very miserable hours. Now that the drugs are kicked in I am doing fine. I even had two bowls of soup for dinner and a slice of key lime pie.
The best part it, I will never have to have shots in the mouth again. Yay!
Bonach Thanks for passing on the news from Bebbi.
Bebbi I'm sorry Mr. Bebbi is in pain. I hope he feels better soon.
Just_Lin; I was thinking of you today... often. You were a real trooper to go through what you did. I hope you feel better.
Bonach Thanks. I am feeling much better now that the drugs are onboard. And I'm soooo relieved to have it all behind me.
I'm so excited! The tooth fairy is in California tonight~ :D
Carol~ beautiful blog~
Bebbi~ I hope Mr. Bebbi is okay~
Bonachichi~ You reminded me of my uncle today....he worked for Vandenberg AFB~ He loved it there...I miss him~
Gloria~ Loved ur post~ so agree~
CAROL: Very nice blog and perfect for the day. I was surprised there wasn't more regarding 9/11 on TV today. I guess we all remember but time moves on.
JUSTLIN; I am really glad all your pain dental work is over today and you have drugs and are feeling okay. I hope you continue to feel okay all weekend. Keep taking those pills.
I have a busy Saturday ahead of me. Today I just watched some tv, read the paper and then about 6PM decided to clean some of my closet so I could see the floor and get bags full for good will. Boy, I have about four bags and lots of shoes are in there too. I still have more to do but decided to stop for the night
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
BEBBI: I hope your husband is feeling better.
TINA: Are you still doing those books? I planted all my seeds last night. They are a little mixed up of pumpkin and sunflowers but they are all planted and growing. I think the store mixed up the seeds in the bags because I know I bought all sunflower.
ZONA: Are you still swimming?

Dianne I am so glad the day is over. Here I am in my robe and on Vicodin. The left side of my chin and cheek are swollen but otherwise I don't look too bad, considering.
Tina LOL @ Tooth Fairy! I ought to get lots of moolah for this!
J/L~ uh honey....i hate to break this to you, but......you still have a buttload of teeth in ur mouth...might want to look in the mirror~ ijs~ :D
Yes, fortunately I do have teeth. They slap them right in after they pull the old ones out. I got new "uppers" and it was all the lowers that got pulled today, 14 of them. Then they put a dental plate in immediately.
okay....shhhhhhhh....I'm gonna tell you a secret! I spent a buttload of money on scrapbook crap today! Please don't tell Mr Tina~ AND....my cousin and I both won prizes~ :D
AND.....I got 6 scrapbook pages done today...and may I just say....they look F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S~ :)~
Lol J/L~ I know.....i was just teasin' ya~ btw...did you get silverware with that plate?
I thought you already had everything there is to have. I should start scrapbooking again. I did enjoy it when I was doing it. It's creative and kind of theraputic.
No, too bad I didn't at least get a silver spoon for my trouble.
lol J/L~ and yes....start scrapbooking...it is theraputic~ I started a new project and once I finally got going...I just loved it~
I'm off to bed....gotta get up early~ (gotta beat DeeDee again!) :)~
btw....DeeDee...thanks for reminding me of Rosie....that first show when she came back on the air was so sad, but I felt better knowing that she was feeling the same way I did~
Sweet dreams.
Some nights I go to bed early and I have a tendency of being awake at 5:16 AM. Today is one of those morning... Sitting her sipping my coffee and reading. Nice way to start the day with people sharing.
I wanted to mention to Bebbi about Mr.Bebbi having the Diverticulitis attack. I have had two attacks and I feel for him. Diverticulitis is the development of pouches or sags in the colon wall, the body processing our food, some things drop into these pouches and it gets infected. An example: things with seeds or nuts. Our body does not process food like this well, we leave it behind and then the infection sets in. It is the worse pain I have ever encountered. To clear the infection, people are put on a high amount of antibiotics to clear the infection. White bread or Italian bread is something that I try to avoid (love it) but it does not process well through your system. Try to stay with high fiber and try to eat one container of yogurt a day. Orders from my doctor and it has worked.
