Well I will confess I caved to peer pressure and watched the last 10 minutes of Idol! LOL
That was a very emotional ending and it seemed like the best singer won.
I had to LOL when they said a winner by 12 million votes. I shouted out that was MEK!!!
Glad you all enjoyed the show and are happy about the outcome.
Before I watch it I wanted to say how much I agree with your blog Carol. I am so happy he won. Now he won't have to be a bar tender and can do what he loves to do and what he is so good at. I loved David A too but he has his school to finish. Oh, to be the music teacher in his school and be able to star him in your spring musical would be a dream. I had a few excellent singers in my choirs through the years but no-one who came anywhere near his talent. He probably has one more year of High School left. David C can go right into his contract and I think he is going to be so successful. I just love him.
Still no-one has joined the nest. I seem to be marching to 10 without even trying. I will listen to David now. I wish we could have voted from Canada. I tried the first year and spent 5 hours getting a busy signal. Then I find out we can't vote from here.

It was a perfect outcome Lynn because he was always such a gentleman. Some of the others were as Simon said "Not as good as they thought they were". I was happy Simon apologized because he did say David A had won the previous night's show. I watched it twice too and David Cook's songs were more powerful the second time around. I will never forget the night he sang "Music of the Night". It was fantastic.
Now I have become a blog hog and must go and keep busy until other owls arrive. Are you off to work Lynn?

Whabbear - I know you are always with me in spirit but you were actually on the blog this morning at the same time as I was. Something is weird. Why wasn't the new blog showing up on your computer? That happened to me once. I was there early and I kept refreshing and there was no new blog. Then I started over from the beginning and the blog was up and there were a dozen comments. What is the proper way to know when the new blog goes up? There must be a better way than starting over again.

Bear - If the old blog is up when you log on in the morning try doing what I did and keep starting over by logging in instead of refreshing. Do it that way until someone tells us how to do it more easily. Twice I waited for the new blog only to find out it was up and running. I gave up trying to be first for a long time but this morning I thought I would persevere.
Does any-one know the secret?
Tinka and Whabby: I log in at the dashboard not on the page. All I have to do is refresh and never have any problems.

Goldie - Good Morning. I am sorry I am late in acknowledging you. A long letter came in from Zona and I wanted to answer it. Yesterday she played on the computer until noon and didn't get to bed until then. This morning I sent her to bed. I hope she is obeying me. Sometimes she rebels against her cybermom but all in all she is a good kid.
I so agree about the show last night. It took me a few weeks to warm up to David Cook but I loved him by the time we were half way through the series. He is a class act I think.

Good Morning Owls! I was so happy to see David Cook win last night. He really is a better "Idol" than Archie. Both will be very successful though. David Cook was even better in the Guitar Hero ad they both did (ala Risky Business.) Archie looked like a little boy that was caught dancing around and looked embarassed. David Cook knew what that scene was supposed to look like!
How about Gladys Knight and her new Pips? I loved it!!
I said to Berry, "George Michael looks like an old man" in which Berry responded, "He IS!" He just never seemed old to me, until last night. And sorry, but those looked like old lady glasses to me. His sex appeal got flushed down the drain while he was fooling around in the bathroom at the park. Ewwwwwww!

Yay, American Idol! It was really good this season! Way to go both Davids! And what a nice guy David Cook is...here is what he said about the show and his win:
You won by 12 million votes but do you think it may have been more if Simon had apologized last night?
Well, Simon’s apology came a little bit late for the votes but I don’t really know that the apology was warranted. I thought what he said was an opinion and nothing more. But at no point did I feel disrespected. But, yeah, I’m appreciative of that fact that he decided to apologize. An apology from Simon is a pretty rare gem.
What do you expect from the year ahead?
I actually walked into this with no expectations and I’m walking out of it with no expectations. This show is a springboard, but it’s still a crapshoot. I could easily walk out of this arena and be just a regular Joe tomorrow. I hope that’s not the case. It’s kind of up to everybody else.
What went through you mind when you heard that you had won?
That my music teacher Mrs. Gentry made me sing in a Christmas pageant in second grade, and now I’m here. The ride has been pretty, pretty nuts. You know you couldn’t write this … or maybe you can, I don’t know maybe you guys can. But I can’t.
Did you think you were going to win?
I didn’t. You know, the respect that I have for David Archuleta is very much past a competitor thing. He has more talent at his age than I know what to do with at 25. So, to be able to share the stage with him was an honor for me. And I went into Tuesday just to have fun, and so the fact that I walk out of here as the next American Idol is not a testament to me so much as it’s a testament to the other 23 contestants we had this season, and to everybody behind the scenes.
What kind of album do you want to make?
A good one — that’s the kind of record I want to make.
How did it feel having your brother Andrew and your mom on the stage with you at the end?
It just made the whole experience full circle. In August, I stood in line in Omaha, Neb., at 5:30 a.m. when it was raining with no intention of auditioning and now I’m here and I got to share that moment with the same two people I stood in line with 7, 8 months ago, so, it was a nice bookend

I don't watch American Idol, my sister does. I watch DWTS. Well its been a while since I posted, I've been busy, I don't even think I read one blog in May, except for Mothers Day, Joey that was a beautiful tribute to your mother. Your mother looks just like my neighbor, in fact I had to look at the picture a few times to make sure it was not her, but trust my neighbor looks JUST like her, its scarry, and shes just as wonderful as your mother. I will take her picture and post it on myspace so you can see.
My kids get out of school on June 11. My middle son Vincent is graduating from 5th grade, I can't believe it next year middle school. So his graduation is June 10 and he doesn't have to go to school on the 11th, oh trust me hes rubbing it in to his brothers.
Well back to cleaning, was just on a break. I was looking for my cyber sis Dreama, thought I could catch her here. Dreama if you come here after me, a big HI to you and we will talk later. I just love talking to you, your so much fun!!!!!

Barb Wa I LOVE JOURNEY! I grew up in the same county where the band from Journey lived.
My best friend and I used to go to a bar in Corte Madera called Uncle Charlie's.
The bartender was a friend of ours and lots of the local band people would hang in there, because they had a special section that was for people who didn't want to mingle with the general population.
We saw Steve Perry in there numerous times. One thing about him that we always noticed, he wore VERY tight pants so you could see EVERYTHING IN HIS BASKET! hahaha! If you get my drift.
This might be TMI, but you could even tell he was circumcised cause the pants were sooo tight.
No complaints from us! woohoo.

I'm really behind with bulletins including my animal rescue bulletins because we're having 2 big fund raisers here locally for rescuers. Law enforcement is going to get together with the annual fund raisers and do a big bike run and BBQ. The last one raised $18,000. I could never forgive myself if I didn't help out with the fund raisers.

Sorry for my late arrival to the Idol party. I'm still doing a happy dance for David Cook though!!! :) I too was crying right along with him, because it was obvious how much the win meant to him. Congratulations and thanks to both David's for an enjoyable season!
Last night, the highlights for me were David Cook's win, his performance with ZZ Top, his Tom Cruise dance on that guitar commercial, and Carrie Underwood's performance. Seeing ZZ Top made me laugh, because I quoted that song here in the nest on Monday when I posted about Gale Harold. :)
Tinka: I'm not familiar with "Leopard" so I don't have an explanation for why your slide show had to be done differently. I just got home from work so I want to hop in the shower and get some dinner before Grey's Anatomy, but I'll check out your new slide show later tonight.

MEK: I missed Idol Extra...crap! I took a lil nappie and I overslept. I should have set my alarm. I ended up sleeping for almost two hours. I have been watching it all season and I know they will show it again, but I wanted to see it TODAY!.

Goldie I don't know how many people you need a side dish for but why don't you cut up a bunch of bacon, brown it, then add it to cans of Bush's Baked Beans (I really like the original)? Serve in a crock pot. It'll taste great and people will be under the impression that you worked hard on it.

Zona, Goldie and EBJ.....you need to watch Ellen, or record it, on May 28th. Journey is going to be performing 2 songs with their new singer. He's so good! Really, he is. You can watch stuff on youTube, but I think the sound on Ellen will be so much better then something recorded on someones cell phone! Anyway....Watch Ellen on the 28th! They taped the show today and we wanted to go but there were no tickets **insert pouty face** Oh well. Will just have to settle for TV until July 12th!
So I went and had my massage and ended up totally worthless today, just like I said earlier. I met a friend for lunch afterwards, and then came home and went to bed at 12:30 and did not wake up until 4:30. What a lovely way to waste a day.

I just checked my T.V. again and I see that Access Hollywood is on again at 10:00 p.m. I just caught the last 10 minutes of David cook on American Idol Extra. I didn't even know I could get that show. A little late for this year I guess. Today's show however is on again at nine so at least I will get to watch the one with David on it. I always thought
A. I. E. was shown only in the states. Another blonde moment for me.

Thanks for the bean idea-I actually make a crockpot one with a jar of northern beans,a pound of bacon, onion, fresh mushrooms, mustard, brown sugar, ketchup. It is sooooo good. However, someone else volunteered the beans efore I got to. Mine are better ;)
I decided on a layered taco dip and a bacaon ranch pasta salad.
J/L I must have been peeing too, because I didn't see the commercial either! Damn
