Josh Groban with the children choir from Africa, singing You Raise Me Up
My dear Owls, as you read this I am on a plane heading away from memories of this day last year. Many of you were there last November and December as I wrote about my brother’s illness and you prayed for him as he began to lose his fight with cancer. If you remember he went into hospice and came out a few days later and had three more weeks at home. I am still convinced that it was your prayers that gave him more time with his kids and brought him closer to Christmas. And you were so there for me when I wrote about being with him as he took his last breathe on December 20th, 2007.
This blog is partly a tribute to him, but even more it is a tribute to you, my dear Owl friends. You have been my shoulders to lean on over the past year as I worked through the grief process. You never complained as I wrote over and over again what I needed to write in order to make sense of the loss. You just listened and cried with me and let me talk about it whenever I needed to. And I know that this blog and the people who come here, are the reason that I have been able to come out the other side of grief. And for that I will be forever grateful.
You are my earth angels! You truly have raised me up and I am so thankful that you are all in my life.
Who has raised you up when you were down? Who is/are your earth angels? Maybe they reside in this very nest!

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 260 of 260BON, I keep meaning to tell you that I was wandering around in your room with the fireplace, and guess what. It ended up on my desk top!
To my owl angels..
I can't even begin to tell all of you
what this nest has done for me. In this past year you all have been thru so much with me, and yet each time you lift my spirits, you play silly games with me, and you give me smiles that at times I have forgotten.
This blog has really become something I would have never guessed it to be..
Thanks for always indulging in my blogs, my family, my work, my videos, and even my warts..
Truly you are all so special..
Hi Everybody!! I hope that everyone had a wonderful Saturday! I just got home from the graduation at Indiana University and it was wonderful. My nephews all go there and I am so proud of them. They are doing great. My brother's oldest son will be graduating from law school in May too. My nephew today graduated with his Bachelors (sp?).
It was a wonderful day and my car worked! Yay! No problems. shew!
I think your blog is so great Vig. I have to agree, the people that inhabit the "nest" are the best! I love all of you and appreciate your humor, fun, silliness, friendship, laughter, seriousness and overall companionship!
I have to say that if it were not for Tink, I would have never found this place and I just enjoy everyone so much. I know I am not able to reside here as much as I like but I do like to think that what I can contribute adds to the flavor of our nest!
Thanks to all of you!
I have only 6629 in steps today, but I am doing really good on my healthy eating (compared to the holiday party LAST NIGHT that I went to!). I had such a wonderful day with two brothers and my sister, mom, and all, it was so great!
Hugs and I hope that everyone's day was filled with as much love and joy as mine was today.
Also, last night too. I enjoyed the party here, the party at our friend's house and coming home and playing Monopoly with my son, daughter and her boyfriend until 2am! It was a hoot! But, I am so tired tonight! Staying up until 2am and then getting up at 7 am and driving two hours, visiting all day and driving home two hours is exhausting! And, to top it off, it rained on the way home. My eyes just don't work as good as they used to in the dark.
Okay..yada yada yada..I know, I am going on and on.
Really, I just love you guys though.
Scirish, Congrats on firsT!
Going to read comments.
Carol,Your "earthly Angels" have their own "earthly angel" YOU!
They stay by you for a reason and I'm guessing it is because they see what we see, an earth bound Angel :+)
Sandie, I've never given anyone an iron infusion, but I've given it as an intramuscular injection.
It is a black medication (the IM kind) and you have to give it deep in the gluteal muscle, or you can be left with a black "stain" in your skin!
Carol, sorry for your bad Walmart experience. I don't even like to go there, as it is always soooooo crowded. MR. EBJ goes there fairly often and he doesn't mind it.
He went to Starbucks today to get some gift cards, and said the line was out the door.
MR. EBJ has a friend over tonight, they are working on a project in the garage. I've stayed in all day, still aching from the dentist yesterday. Owieeee.
Paula wants to be brushed, so I will check back later! (she has us SO trained!)
Tinka:
Congrats on 200!

VIG - You will be proud of me. I got 50, 150 and 200 on the day of your blog. I would have got 100 too except I think Shirley was on roller skates. Is that against the rules? Check the rule book on marching.
I told you I would keep an eye on your blog and I kept my promise. Now you must keep your promise and bring me back a cute Mexican man to help me around the house.
Carol - Thanks for the Happy Dance. I am dancing too. That is just about as much fun as playing in the snow.
Mary I remember you telling me about your sister and her work as a nurse. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to do it. She is very special to work with the children.
Tinak and Lynn, glad you stayed cozy inside!
oops that was supposed to be Tinka.
Mary:
Thats it.. the clientele!
Again that is what is so upsetting, so what if the clientele is not stellar, it does not mean the walmart has to be a mess. Management should step in and do something..
Then I think? Is is the clientele that makes the store as it is...
Still no excuse.. I blame management for letting it get out of hand...
Yes, I am going to write that letter...
Mary:
Thank You ♥♥♥
Mary:
Your sister is very special indeed!
EBJ, I've heard of the injections. I'm not sure why I get the infusion. Are you telling me the injection could leave me with a black butt? Mr. Sandie might actually like that. :)
Tinka, LOL!! Shirley on skates and a cute mexican man??
Oh boy I just went outside and the snow is now kind of like crystal. Tinka stay in I am!
MEK I think I am about ready to let Mr. Lynn D to convince me to move to AZ.
Carol we have a Walmart here in town and it is always clean. I agree that the management is responsible and should make sure their employees do their jobs. Tho I would not be surprised if they don't have enough staff to keep up.
Hi Santa.. oh sorry mean Bebbi!
Isn't college graduations exciting!
I went to my nephews back in May, and I was so happy for him and so very proud..
Kudos on your nephews success...
Oh how fun..
Sandie will have a black butt...
They are actually very nice, they sure can move around to good music...
:O)
Lynnd:
I agree about the staff, and it did seem to me that this walmart was understaffed.
But it does go back to management, as they lead the store..
Carol - You are Our Special Angel. Isn't that a song?
Bebbi - Thank you for giving me credit for your finding the blog. I am sure you would have flown in without me. The nest needed you.

Oh my what has happen to this blog..
Sandie has a black butt, Tinka wants a cute Mexican..
All hell is breaking lose..
I'm suddenly feeling the need to shake what my mamma gave me!
Carol - It's Christmas. That's the reason.

Sandie:
Go for it, you only live once...
Tinka:
There is always a reason for the season.. or in your case a cute mexican.. :O)
Tinka, my sister used to sing that song, "Special Angel" all the time when she was little!
Just popped in to catch up. I feel almost guilty watching the awful PNW weather news while we're in a little banana belt here, a sprinkly snow-melting 40*and so far no wind.
Dang it, EBJ~~Kept forgetting to mention here that Costco has a box of 5 $20 Starbuck gift cards for $80, no line-no waiting. I got them 'cause daughter goes through Starbucks like water while she's on-the-road for work. Was I surprised when I opened the box to find their is a beige velvety gift card envelope for each of the cards, with no Starbucks logo on it and plenty room to write a personal message. I decided to give them to the yard-guy, newspaper man, etc.
Tink: I wouldn't have ever of found it without you! I had trouble even when you MS mailed the link..lol. It took me a couple of weeks to figure out that it was two s's not one in nightowlssb! Also, I think you are right about the rule book and what is this about a Cute Mexican? I am going to have go back and read again!
Carol, Yes the graduation was awesome. Congrats to your Nephew too! Sorry about your ugly Wally World experience. My sister said that when she lived in California the Walmarts were horrible there too. We have a nice new Super Wally near us and a Wally "Hood" store too. Both are clean and neat. They are putting in a Super Target beside our Super Wally, so that will be fun when it opens. I love TARGET! They have the most fashionable home stuff. They have great designers!
Jeez Bon'o, hubby and I are going to Costco to join tomorrow. I will have to get that, I have Starbucks kids all over (well, young adults).
Sorry, that last post for EBJ was actually relevant when I started it, but that was 25 or 30 posts ago.
Hey Sandie if you get the shots just right (or wrong!) you could have a black booty!
What's that song, I Like Black Butts And I Cannot Lie??
Or big butts?? hahaha!!!
Happy Birthday IBB!
and you know I meant THERE (not their) is....see, I was tryin' to catch up! :-)
LOL @ EBJ!!
It's Big Butts, I just found the song called "Baby Got Back"
My kids used to sing that song, EBJ. It was on the Shrek movie, too.
Sandie I just watched the video for that song on Youtube. Too much!
Bebbi - I couldn't get in the nest when it first opened. I tried for hours. Carol had to guide me in. I am glad you had fun at the graduation.
I just got #3000 in my picture comments on myspace. It is of Elvis and sent to me by my daughter Zona. That makes my night. On that happy note I am going to wish you all a good night and sweet dreams. Love, Tinka

Bono, somehow I missed the post about Starbucks! I wish I'd known that.
We belong to Costco but do most of our shopping there on line. They deliver most stuff free, so we avoid the crowd and order what we need on the internet.
They just opened up a huge new Costco complete with gas station. I have not been there yet but I have heard they charge quite a bit less.
Thank you for the info, I will remember that for next time we need gift cards!
Hi MEK! Still think Plunger Boy sounds like a porno haha!!
Good night IBB! Glad it was a good day for you!
Hi EastBay!! Want some snow????
I'm talking to myself..again lol

Slani LOL @ you stealing Bon's fireplace!
I can't get my hands warm! I don't know what I'd do if it actually snowed here. I'm freezing as it is!
Thought I'd go for one more OWL pass through.
BEBBI, I am happy for your wonderful day, and safe trip.
EBJ, PAULA is one lucky cat.
TINK, keep on marching.
MARY, My sister moved there years ago to be in the Oslo symphony. We have only seen each other a few times over the years. I keep trying to get her to email.I don't know if she is afraid of it or what. My niece emails.
MEK, Thanks for the "PLUNGER BOY" update. I am going to miss him.
BON, So I see you now have a "NEWSPAPER BOY and a "YARD MAN"
Were you jealous because MEK has a "PLUNGER BOY"?
Sweet dreams to all.
