This Night Owl Blog has given so much! It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"! We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly. And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :) It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!

Scrambled Thoughts
i have missed blogging, i did not realize how
much i enjoyed putting my thoughts into
writing, until this week, when my break from
blogging occurred, it is somewhat freeing
to put all that is in my mind into words, it
releases that pressure of all thoughts being
jumbled, it puts things in order for me, as
you see in my mind, they run wild, however
here in black and white i can understand
them better, as i read them back the jumbled
thoughts become clear
this past week has been trying for me, here at
the nest and in my home life, it is strange to
me how it all occurred and blurred into one,
as i was trying to calm the waters here, my dad
was having problems, i, at first ignored his pleas
as i thought his ailments were just simple
everyday occurrences, actually truth be told
i was just to preoccupied, i was not focused,
i chose to scramble my priorities, and now that
i think back, i realize i scrambled in the wrong
direction~
when saturday arrived and i saw my dad, his eyes
foggy, his tummy upset, i went into action, and
off we went, the hospital admitted him, and my
priorities are now in order, never to be scrambled
into one again!
i do really feel in my heart that today will go well
with my dad, as we have been down this road before
and he is very strong, his heart doctor has known
him for 20yrs, and he is confident my dad will be
ok, so i am positive and will stay that way, until
someone tells me otherwise
and my helping hand was not able to smooth the
tide, i realized i had lost control, not only was
i front and center, but the most important personalty
trait of mine "control" was lost, as i so wanted to
control the situation, i so wanted the peace~
however it was not to be, so i let it go, i gave up
and took my wounded self in hiding, and let the
"control" go, one cannot control a situation that
was not in their being, one at a point of submission
needs to pass, like a game, when you pass your turn
so, i let the nest be, and will always be grateful to the
owls who kept it going in my absence, it was a group
effort, as it should be~~
today is our 200th blog, i think we will observe
today a little differently than the last time, we should
remember what brought us here, how we all came
together, how we started as perhaps 10 owls and
have now become close to 50 owls, all should comment
as each of you are important as the next, if you all
allow each comment to enter your heart for just
one moment and understand the reasoning for the
owls entry into the nest, perhaps we can get past
the hurt, perhaps there is a light at the end of this
tunnel, time will tell~~
as you all read this i will be tending to my dad
who i love so very much, his procedure is today,
we will know today if a heart stent is needed
i will be with him, as i should be, my priority
i always say "baby steps" and it is time we
take ours!
congrats owls, on your 200th blog!

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 339 of 339TINKA...congrats on 200! what was in that diet coke you are drinking??LOL!!
I think we need a judge here. Maureen, the board said you got 201. I said 199 when it should have been 200. I think we screwed up somewhere.
TINKA...you got it!! I was 199 and 201
My comment posted twice. Sorry.
Yes Maureen I think I got 200 but I didn't get its correct name so maybe I am disqualified. Where is the judge and jury?
I haven't had my diet coke yet. I might have done things better with a little 'jag' on.
Off for some diet coke. See you in a minute.
209 Let's get this straight now.
210
MO,the check is in the mail lol!
Tinka, nice sprinting. I don't know how you do it with all that fluff under your wings!
Congrats Mo!
I bet you ran up an appetite so let me offer you some of my pigs in a blanket. :0)
My sincere thanks to lynn d, Maureen, & Donna Jean for remembering my mom and her procedure today. I mentioned others who acknowledged us earlier today. There may have been others who also posted about her, and I'm terribly sorry if I overlooked you. I still have a lot to learn here. It's a lot to keep up with! It will only get more difficult for me when I return to work/school on Aug. 20th because I usually work 12 hour days. But I really like it here and I want to try to continue to read and be involved.
Thanks for the update on Carol's dad, Maureen.
Best Wishes for a positive visit at the Cardiologist tomorrow Donna Jean!
That is so cool that you contacted the airline, Delores! Tina will LOVE IT!
Even though I had a nap today, I'm really tired. Trying to stay awake to watch "The Mole". I know a lot of people make fun of that show but I have loved it since the beginning.
It is almost 9pm here and still 79 degrees. I am going out to water my thirsty plants.....
Oh my goodness...
Lets start with a big thank you to all owls for all the good wishes for my dad!
Shirley:
Thank you ever so much, for your wonderful menu, You are a dear! ♥♥
Donna Jean:
Hope all goes well with Miss Laurie Elizabeth
Donna:
Glad all went well with your mother!
I am being interrupted by a phone call from a family member.
brb
DonnaJean I'll be sending positive thoughts to you and Laurie Elizabeth.
Delores What an excellent idea, to contact the airline about Tina's anniversary.
Tinka You were #200 on the 200th blog! Special congrats to you!
Shirley, dear, I'm going to add midol to the menu.
Serious question: Does Midol really help any of you out there?
DonnaJean,My thoughts a prayers will be with you and Miss Lauri Elizabeth. I love her name!
Carol. So good to hear the good news about your Dad today.
Hartldo, I am sorry, somehow I missed the information about your Mother. Sometimes I read too fast and miss important comments like your. I hope
all went well.
The flowers have been watered, time for a little watering of my own lol! There is still a little Sangria in the frig......
Actually the only thing that helps me is chocolate and I don't have any in the house. I'm On my 394th diet of the year.
Mary/MI: I do the same thing...Read too fast and miss things. That's okay. I completely understand. I appreciate you mentioning my mom now tho. She had a colonoscopy this morning. My grandma died of colon cancer so we go through this every yr with one family member or another. Mom was very nervous because she has had some problems in the past, but she was PERFECT this morning! She and I were both happy and relieved.
why dont they make chewable chocolate midol??????
I know I don't come here very often anymore - I feel like I have lost touch with so many of the wonderful people I have "met" over the past couple of years (Hey Donna! I didn't even know you were over here!), but I do stop by from time to time to rest in the nest. I have no idea what happened here, and I don't want to know. I just know that these blogs always have growing pains and drama, and the key is to move on. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad, Carol and my prayers and thoughts are with you both - same for you and your Mom Donna. I know how hard it is when the tables turn and we become the caretakers for our parents. I just had a birthday last week and my Mom had no idea it was my birthday - it really was painful. Anyways, it looks like the love is back here and I'm glad to see that. I may not be here often, but I think of you guys a lot! For all in pain, I wish you comfort.
OMG! I just told my daughter about an hour ago that I was craving chocolate. There is none in my house either. :(
Donna, my grandpa had colon cancer, so all his children get checked all the time. So far everyone has done well.
Hey CG! I just started coming here about a week ago. I've been "shopping" for a home, and I really, really like it here.
Mo that is a really good idea that could be your ticket for an early retirement. Go Market it.
Going to go watch The Mole now. It's down to the Final 4!
Here they come down the stretch, MISS MO and PINKA TINKA, head to head, nose to nose, and the winner of the 200th post on the 200th Blog IS MISS MO........OOOPS, NOOO! PINKA TINKA has inched in by a hair!!!
AND THE WINNER OF THE 200th BLOG POST IS "MISS PINKA TINKA"
(wreaths of beautiful pink and rose colored flowers being put on PINKA TINKA's gorgeous head)!!!
Congratulations to PINKA TINKA!!!
(it couldn't have gone to a more faithful, sweet, charming, loving, gracious, and positively beautiful Owlette)!
MARY/MI~
DIANNE/DENVER~
OMG!!! I went back and could not believe my NOT so trusty #2 screwed up and deceived me in my list!!!
Many apologies given, and forgiveness asked!!!
SACBARB~ Hi back to you my friend!
MO~ Just Thanks for EVERYTHING :)
DONNA JO~ Oh honey don't worry about not mentioning everyone, it is SO NOT a required subject at this place! I just happened to have a few minutes to fool around!
CAROL~ so glad you had the time to drop in after your very long and stressful day. Thank you for your encouragement for tomorrow!
OK, anybody else flying in after me, who has not posted BEFORE 7:03pm PDT, well, JUST SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE!!!!
Gotta go tend to the BBQ, and Nashville Star will be on in a couple of hours and tonight is the FINAL night to vote!!! I still want Melissa to win! Let's hear it for The Girl!!! Some of you may already know the winner, hope it was Melissa!
Bye for now,
Donna Jean and Laurie Elizabeth
Carol and everyone else thanks for the wonderful comments regarding the seafood menu. It was fun to put together. Thanks for asking Carol and best of luck with your Dad. (((HUGS)))
Donna Jean thanks for the comparison to Martha Stewart (although I think you're way off). That was nice. Besy of luck to you and Laurie tomorrow.
Hartldo I don't think Midol works very well. I have taken Tylenol or Advil. Robax Platinum works too.
Bon'O I'm sorry to hear about Dr. Gary Lee.
I'm calling it a night. It is very hot and humid here and my blurry eyes are giving me headaches.
I'm sorry if I've missed anyone's comment to me. Have a good evening and be kind to each other.
hartldo~```` That's me you hear clapping for your Mom's good news!
Hi Canadian grl. Good to see yah!
I am eating choc. covered raisins. mmmmm good!
Mary, the last time I ate raisins is when I was two. My mom would give them to me to eat while I was sitting on the little potty and they were suppose to help me think about going potty.
Good night Shirley, I hope you are feeling better tomorrow.
Hi All! It sure has been a busy day in the nest!
Carol: Glad to hear that your dad is doing okay and got the stint in.
I am going to have Haddock, I love Haddock and it is so hard to find these days! Also, Coconut Shrimp is my favorite too.
I have to go in for an x-ray, MRI (on my knee) & a boobie squish tomorrow. I sure hope it doesn't take too long and that they can figure out what I did to my knee.
Gotta go and watch Paranormal state...bye all and once again, Happy 200th! I had a diet coke so I probably will be back later and really regretting it tomorrow..lol.
Hugs!
I mean, regretting the diet coke late because I won't be able to sleep. bbl.
Bebbi- good luck with all your body parts tomorrow!
I'm going to do some laundry, I will be back later to say good night.
Donna Jean - I just turned on the computer and I see I won a wreath of pink and rose flowers for narrowly winning the race to 200. I wish I had known as I would have had a winner's speech ready to give. I thought maybe I would be disqualified for calling the wrong number. Well, all I can tell you is that you have made my day. Thank you so very much. I am going to read the other comments now. I haven't had much time to be in the nest today. I must make up for it by reading everybody's post. Hope I read good news about everyone's relatives who we have been praying for today.
I don't think it worked!! They just landed and she said the flight attendant was nice and complimented her on the kids....no mention of killing me so probably safe to say it didn't happen....dagnab-it!
Shirley - I think you are asleep now so you will have to read tomorrow about how much I enjoyed your clam chowder and Nova Scotia lobster with a baked potato with everything on it. I think I gained 5 pounds. But we only have "200 day" once so it was worth it. Thanks, you are a doll to make up that menu.
Happy TWO HUNDRETH Blog.. Thank you, cpgem for creating this wonderful place for us to land!
cpgem - glad to hear your dad is doing well..... I have been sending positive thoughts and prayers.
Seems like several of us were at hospitals today with loved ones having procedures. My mom is home and doing well.
Donna - glad to hear your mom did well.
Dianne in Denver - hope all is well with your daughter.
I must tell you ALL what an AMAZING lady, Dianne - forgot her oxygen - in Denver is!!! She took me to lunch up in the mountains - It was SO thoughtful of her to know just how much I missed them!! We were a few minutes shy of spending 12 hours together. We had a great time... OH - and did I tell you all how AMAZING she is??!!
The weather didn't cooperate for the great pics I had hoped to get in the Springs - POURED on me and was overcast - so - didn't make it to the Garden of the Gods or the Olympic Training Center - maybe next time!!
I want to thank all those that wished us a safe trip and all the welcome homes!!
:-)
I hope everyone had an excellent Monday!!
:-)
Hi All. Due to the recent troubles on the blog that I have found to be quite unsettling and divisive, I wasn't going to post today on this milestone blog. I am a relatively small presence here because I come and go sporadically and didn't think it would be noticed if I wasn't here anyways. But your posts today have reminded me what this blog is all about...it is about friendship and connections and it is a community that supports and survives. And it is just plain old fun! Hence I decided I wanted to post to pay homage to that spirit of the blog. I also respect Carol immensely and so admire the way in which she brought us all together. So on this 200th blog, I lift a glass (I don't drink so I am actually lifting a cup of tea) and toast our fearless leader to thank her and honor her for all that she does for each of us. I am also sending her good thoughts and prayers for her and for her Dad. Cheers and salut and thank you, Carol!
On a commercial break from The Mole.
Robax Platinum? What is that, Shirley? I'm willing to try just about anything!
Good luck tomorrow Bebbi!
Welcome back to blog MEK! And thank you for mentioning my mom. What did your mom have done today? (If that's not too personal to ask.) Glad she is doing well.
Cheers Vig!
HEY MEK!!!! Welcome back!
HEY CG- Happy Belated Birthday gramma!!!!!How is that crack baby??
Good night Hooters- sleep well
Vig:

What a lovely sentiment Vig.
I raise my glass of sweet tea to Carol and to all Nesters, in response to you Vig...Here, Here!
MEK, It's good to see you on the Nest and happy your Mom is home.
Good night, and ((hugs)) all around.
250
250 works for me...Ahhhhh
I didn't see you there Carol.
Glad you're home and can relax a little. Hope you remember how.
((hugs))
VIG- I'm lifting up my cold diet pepsi and clinking it with everyone's drink.
My dad is resting comfortably, if all goes well tonite and there are no
complications he will be home tomorrow...
One of his main arteries was blocked 80%, however the stent will take care of the blockage...
He should be out and about in a couple of days...
He turning 84 next Thursday, we are planning a small celebration
here at home, as we are all so happy is well...
Owl
Thanks again....
Oh, and how cute was I in that pic, I was 10, and my dad was 50, so my mom put 60 on the cake, my birthday is a day after his, so we always celebrated it together when I was younger...
The young man in the back round of the pic is my brother...
Ronnie:
Hello!
My glass of sparkling poland springs water is raised!
Cheers!!!
Now that number 60 makes sense in the picture! I thought to myself that there was NO WAY that man could be 60! He really looks younger than 50 in that picture!
Should be
Owls not just Owl...
I didn't read the comments yet, but I just checked and didn't want to let the day go by without saying congratulations on your 200th blog, night owls!!!
Carol, thank you so much for this nest ~ I appreciate it so!
CAROL'S birthday is next friday!!!
Anyone else in the mood for a birthday party???????????
Donna:
Sorry for the confusion I should have stated it earlier....
The nurse tonight came back in the room after checking on my dad, and told him she had his age wrong, I asked her what she had, she told me 83, and I told her that was correct, she could not believe it, as my dad really fools people with his age, as he looks younger!
It was a very nice compliment...
Good night Grandma!
Heck, yes, I will be ready for a party.
We are going to Jungle Bungle (just like a Chuckie Cheese) for my stepdaughter's birthday in the afternoon and I will sooooo be ready to relax after being in that germ infested area.
GM:
Thank You, I am glad you are a part of the nest. I enjoy your comments..
:O)
Mo:

Thank you, each and every owl, for making my birthday special.
I apologize for not commenting on your comments but I'm soooo tired. Goodnight!
Good Night Donna, Sleep Well!
Mary/MI: Motrin has worked best for me as well. I was recently told, however, that Motrin will raise my bp, and it's already high enough. Of course, a lot of pain isn't good for one's bp either.
Good Night Sandie! Glad your day was good...
Geez I feel like Jon-Boy!
Goodnight Carol-bob.

I have to take care of tomorrows blog, I will try to come back...
Mek:

Bonnie, I commented on your story but I don't think I mentioned your great acrostic poem. It was wonderful. Sorry I didn't say something sooner. I hope I didn't miss anyone's poems. I am going to print them all.
Donna Jean - I see comments to you and I think I missed what is happening to Little Laurie. Would you send me an e-mail about it? I can't find it and I feel I am missing something important here.
Bebbi - Good luck with your procedures tomorrow. I will be thinking of you.
Iteach - I bet you don't like raisins now. Not the best association for you. Will you use the same method with your baby or a new one? I know a lot of mom's use cherrios with their little boys.
Dreama - I would like some of those pigs in a blanket right now. I had a big lunch and Slim Fast for dinner. Now, I am getting hungry.

cpgem - that march was for YOU!!!
Hi VIG - I am toasting with you. Only I am using orange juice. A cup of tea would keep me up all night. I am almost asleep now but I am afraid I might have missed some posts. I have been jumping around a bit.
Mek _ I was going to get into the race with you to 300. I look up and we are at 302. What kind of shoes do you wear? You are too fast for me lady. Or maybe it is the fact that you are too young for me to be racing with. I need a senior section.
Mek - I don't have a pencil with me either. That's why I am posting to one person at a time. My little brown owl thinks he has died and gone to heaven. He likes his face seen a lot. Nothing shy about that little owl.
Tinka - you just brought a much needed smile to my face - thank you!!!
VIG - I will toast with my watered down Diet Pepsi that I forgot I had poured - (bummer - I don't like to waste a perfectly good soda!!)...
AND - if we are throwing a party for cpgem - count me in!!!

Thanks for the well wishes on the "body parts" checkup. I really appreciate it. :) I haven't said this to anyone but I am a little scared about the mammogram.I have had something going on and am hoping I am worrying about nothing. Maybe saying it will make me realize I am probably being
paranoid.
A toast to a wonderful place where everyone is friendly, open, kind and wonderful to each other. This is our Xanada! *Raising Glass* Cheers and Happy 200th to all!

OK, got the chicken on the barbie, and Miss Laurie all settled with her healthy NO SALT salad, and just had to check back in!
CANADIANGIRL (AKA CG)~ WELOME!!!!
Please come fly by here anytime you would like!
DONNA JO~ what???? NO CHOCOLATE ANYWHERE IN THE HOUSE?
Oh boy I must teach you a secret. Dove Chocolate is my favorite. Dark, Milk, Caramel, doesn't matter. Chocolate with a wonderful glass of Zinfandel (Sonoma County, California only, of course, NO NAPA!!!)
Buy these luscious puppies in the bag, and put a few in tiny baggies and hide them where only YOU know where they are. (The only problem is YOU may forget where they are!) I digress. Buy more bags than you think you will devour. Believe me, you WILL eat them! And I have found they freeze OK. Not great, but heck when you need chocolate, a frozen Dove chocolate is HEAVEN!!! Come on over, bring your daughter, I have MANY Dove Chocolate pieces to share!
JUST_LIN and MARY/MI~ Thank you so much for the support for tomorrow! I am definety going to need it!
Love ya, DJean
I have a never ending SHARP #2 and I claim it as MINE!!!
although, I would love to defer to anyone else who love to jump in and join the fun!!
And just for the record, I bought my whole box of #2's fairly and squarely at Office Depot!!!
OK, this may be the 200th Blog, BUT something really whacko is happening to my comments!!!
I just had a comment posted t 9:32 PDT that SHOULD have posted at
7:))!!!
AND, I can't get back to my normal way of signing out. Makes you go Hmmmmmm.
I must shut down the computer, and hopefully get back on.
Love ya all! Donna Jean

Welcome back, MEK and IBB! And glad to hear you and Dianne had a ball. She is absolutely fabulous, isn't she?
Hey MEK, glad to hear all went well with your Mom. Another successful Owl meeting with Dianne. Yay!!!!!
VIG, Cheeeeers and belated Happy Birthday.
Mo, Partayyy on for Friday.
Night Carol, Mary, Donna Jo, MEK and IBB (Good to see you back). Sweet dreams.
Bebbi, thinking good thoughts for tomorrow.
OK, very weird. Must have been on my end. My comments were posted WAY out of order! (Duh, two hours??)
Anyway, I am off to bed now, because, like Carol, and Donna Jo, I am up early tomorrow to take Miss Laurie to UCSF for her cardiologist app't.
I do not want to hash over all the details, but for those of you that do not know the issue, in a brief synopsis, Miss Laurie has a complicated congenital heart defect, surgically corrected 4 times as a baby and toddler. Now as an adult, she is having to
re-do alot of the correction.
Tomorrow, we are having our visit to discuss the upcoming surgery. She has already had to go through three complicated tests since January to get to this point. We were hoping it wouldn't have taken this long, since she was diagnosed in January as needing more surgery. But, at least she is doing OK now, and hopefully we can finally get this done and MOVE ON WITH OUR LIVES!
Thank you all, each and every one of you for all your good wishes, thoughts and positive vibes for us.
I haven't mentioned how very nervous I am, because I kind of got used to nothing happening for so many months, since this all started in January.
Now that the day is finally here, I am a nervous wreck, and even though I should be in bed, resting, I want a glass of Zinfandel and a Dove Chocolate or even maybe two chocolates to calm me down!!!
Sweet dreams to all, I am off to get my chocolate!
Peace, Love, and thank you all for being my friend,
May this blog continue forever!
Donna Jean and Laurie Elizabeth
Bebbi Sending positive thoughts your way.
BonO I'm so very sorry to hear of the tragic passing of Dr. Gary Lee.
Delores What a disappointment that the airline didn't follow through. It was a great idea, though.
VIG I raised my bottle of water with you in salute to Carol and the Night Owls Blog. Cheers!
MEK Good to see you back and glad you had such a great time.
Carol ROFLMAO @ DonnaJean having the best number twos. Didn't know you were checking. Bwahahahaha!!!!! Custard probably didn't bat an eye regarding the QOTD. I think I've accidentally sent him 3 or 4 at this point. I start by typing in "C" and then my brain goes on automatic pilot . LOL
IBB I'm so glad to see you in the nest again. Welcome back!
VIG - Raising my cup of coffee to you and ALL owls.....Happy 200th!!
IBB & MEK - Welcome back!!! Did my heart good to see the HOMEK sisters in the nest. :D

Ibb, Nice to see you back here. Glad you are doing better.
Canadiangirl, For you, ((((HUGS)))
and ♥♥♥♥
Bon'O, Sorry about Dr. Lee♥
Delores, Sorry your plan didn't work out. It was a good ides though.
Carol, I guess I got carried away while outside your window. You were not suppose to see me checking in on you. Nice to know that I can still annoy you though! ;o)♥
Since I'm without a car, I have not been able to get out and stock up on #2 pencil's. Would someone mind passing me a extra one. I know I have missed many HOwl name's here. A crayon would do nicely too, if the #2's are all taken. ;o)
GOOD MORNING TO ALL♥
