This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Jodi - I was # 197 and I was going to show you how I could still march even though my legs aren't as good. I posted #198, scrolled up and you had beat me to it. I guess your legs are younger and stronger than mine.
That delete was my #198. Jodi, I used to try and post to everyone who came in after me but it is too hard for me now. I guess my brain is as old as my legs.
Barb - It's a Stat holiday here too. Jack came home at 2:00 so that made it a holiday for us.
Just_Lin - Are you ever coming this way again? I still feel bad that you were in our city and I didn't get to see you. The trouble is cruise lines keep passengers very busy with tours when they are in Victoria. We are hoping the cruise lines make a longer stop in Victoria next summer.
Dianne - You are doing great. Soon you will taking part in marathons and maybe even winning them. I never watched crime shows before Jack came home. I would choose the comedies over them every time. I must say however that I am really invested in NCIS and Bones. They grow on you. The only thing we watch on tv is the news. Every thing else we watch is on DVD. I hate commercials interrupting the most important parts of the show.
It's 4:00 and starting to get dark. Soon it will be dark from 4:30 pm until 7:30 am. That's why I like Summer best. Have a good evening Little Owls everywhere.
Soooo WTH is Tina?? I kept checking back in here thinking my puter was messed up. I decided to do some back reading. I should have started from the beginning cuz this is what I read first "Good luck in your endeavor Mo. I know you can do it and I'm sure it will be hard" Well, let me tell you, my curiosity made me back track lol!
It seems like a few of us are trying to lose weight, quit smoking, keep warm and getting pain free! Good luck to us all :)
I need to get rid of my "spare tire" before a cute Hawaiian cabana boy "lei s" me!
Tinka, all you have to do is look at the date and you will be able to tell where the current comments start.
I know we are all concerned about Tina, but maybe she just needs to take a break. So, we can all continue to talk amongst ourselves.
I hope everyone is having a good holiday. I just went out to pick up my mail and when I saw the empty mailbox I remembered (again) it is a holiday. I am really getting OLD!!!
Woooooo. Scary things happening on the blog, Mary. Come visit more often. It's so nice to see you.
My friend brought dinner tonight. We started with corn chowder and it filled us up so much that we are saving the main part of the dinner for tomorrow. I'm so lucky to know so many nice people in my life.
It has been a really long time since we've had to pages. I almost forgot the blog did that after 200.
It does really get dark early now, Tink. I don't mind it but I'm not doing rush hour anymore, so it makes a big difference. I love fall and winter so I'm good with dark early. When Spring rolls around...I'm ready for it to stay light later. See how easy I am to please?
Just laying here watching DWTS I like it being the All Stars this time. It's hard to vote off someone.
SacBarb Don't worry about it. I looked in my mailbox today, too. The other day after I had eaten an omelet I made for myself, I glanced in the kitchen and saw the flame of the gas stove was still on. Yikes! Now that's something to worry about.
Dianne, It is so good to see you happy and on the mend! I am not a fan of clam chowder, but glad you enjoyed it. I am more into homemade chicken noodle :) It has been snowing here. Our temps dropped like a rock overnight. We had our heat off for over a week. Back to November reality lol!
Mary You only have to get rid of a spare tire? Crap, I have to get rid of the whole damn vehicle. And you know what? It ain't going to happen. Oh, well.
Barb - I know when the date changes but the time confuses me because it lists EDT and I am on PDT. For example Dianne posted at 7:46, Jodi at 9:31 and Lynn at 9:51. You have to read the comments to see that Lynn was first this morning and most beautiful. Also when you write your comment on page one you can't scroll page two to see if someone posted to you because then you lose what you have typed. It's hard for old folks like me to keep it all straight in my mind. Anyway thanks for helping.
I have to give Tia her shot and Tango her pills. I will be back later, probably on page three. Have fun everyone.
HOdi Ha! I wish I had that tan. In my teeneage years in southern California, we used to oil ourselves up with a mixture of baby oil and iodine and lay out in the sun. Kind of a dye and fry kind of deal. The color of my tan then was not unlike the turkey pic. LOL
What's all that banging? I was sound asleep in dreamland and then bang bang bang. Scared the poop out of me almost!!!
Good morning Everyone. It's still AM here. I think Jodi and Lynn were pretty close on their morning arrivals so you both look beautiful today.
JL, you never answered me (I don't think) if you have to use heat at your house? It always sounds kind of chilly from your weather forecasts.
My dang knee hurts so bad every day when I wake up. Gosh, it's been five weeks today since surgery. I sure thought I'd be a lot further along by now than I am. Oh well.
Dianne, try not to get discouraged. Five weeks is really not that long a time. You are coming along very well.
In answer to your question from yesterday, I have turned on the heat and I keep it at around 68 unless it gets really cold outside. In the morning I turn it up for about an hour before I get in the shower. I usually wear a sweater or sweatshirt to keep warm.
Jodi, I sounds like you have a lot of good food to go at your Kwik Trip.
Tinka, How is Tia doing since she has been getting the shots?
J/L, I remember the days when we used to dye and fry. Everyone looked like the 'tan lady.' How could we possibly think that was good for us?
Lynn, I love all those tiny houses you put up on FB. Many times I think how much simpler life would be if I didn't have so much stuff to clean, keep track of, or put away. But then what would I do with all my time? LOL
Just_Lin - We used to mix baby oil and iodine but I always turned a bit orange. Most of my friends would slather themselves in baby oil and would lie in the sun for hours. Just think of the dangers of cancer with that summer fun.
Barb - We just got back from the Vet and her blood was 10 which is fine. Tia and I are now very used to the shot routine twice a day. I can't believe how easy it has become. I still worry about the future but I try not to think about complications. Thanks for asking.
Dianne - I know you are trying and you are doing very well. As Barb said five weeks isn't that long. It just seems long.
Please forgive me if I have skipped anyone. I find it hard to scroll and remember when there are this many comments.
Just back from my little baby walk. It's good to get a little air. Next I need to get on my bike and then some ice.
Boring day. I need to watch more tv or something. Boring life when my highlight of the day is going to pt three times a week. It seems like you get more visitors when you are at a facility than when you get home.
Lynn, that's great that you are doing something for yourself three times a week. You are a well disciplined person. I wish I was more like that.
I used to do that baby oil trick too and paid for it many years later. Dumb as it even put me in the hospital twice with bad sunburns when I was young. I don't know what we were thinking.
Jodi, do you have to cook all that food at your store or is there someone who does that besides you.
I had dinner out with friends tonight. It was a pleasant evening. Tomorrow I'm having dinner with a different friend. My social life seems to center around food. LOL
SLIN - Never heard of the fry and dye....but when I was in marching band, we would slather ourselves in baby oil while marching on a black top parking lot for 12 hours. Oh, how things have changed.
BARB - We do have a lot of great food choices at my store!! Healthy and otherwise ;)
DIANNE - No, I do not do the cooking at my store!! Coffee on the other hand is a different story. I am considered the "coffee lady"!! I get great compliments from guests that we keep a well stocked and fresh coffee bar. With 3 Kwik Trips in my small town, people know they can come to our store for what they want. ANYTIME!! Makes me smile!!
Decided last week that I'm going to jump into the tablet world. After much research I went to Barnes and Noble and picked out their Nook HD. They were out of the one that I wanted, so the salesman wrote my name and phone number down. He called yesterday, so I am heading over there after work to pick it up!!
I still love to have a book in my hand, but I think I will love the Nook, especially for travelling!! It will also be a lot easier posting here and in FB. I love my phone, but let's be honest....the larger screen will b nice!!!
Jodi, I got a Kindle as a gift when it first came out and didn't use it for two years. But I loaded it with a couple of books and took it to San Diego in April and I love it. I still like to get a paper book and read it (and smell it), though. It is great for travel. Saves room and weight in the suitcase.
Zona, YES, damn it! Martha sucked me in, but they offered me $20 off my purchase if I got one of their credit cards, so I got a bargain. I'll cancel the credit card as soon as I get it. Thanks for asking.
You don't need to be going any faster when you're sock sliding, ijs. ;-)
When is Smash starting? I keep looking for it and I haven't even seen an ad for it.
I'm waiting for Dean. We are going to Old Sac to meet my grandson for lunch. Flapping a wing to all the Owls and even the lurkers. Have a good day. BBL
HOdi I hope you love your new Nook. I haven't taken the plunge with that yet. As a matter of fact, I'm currently waiting on a book I ordered the other day when the bookstore didn't have it in stock.
BARB: I'm just glad I didn't find out it was on until the last hour..js.. ;)
I checked the Smash FB page and they say it starts Feb 5..waaaay too long a wait..I miss that show! They are going to have some other great special guests on this season too!
J/LIN: I will..I've never broken a bone..knock on wood..I don't want to start now! Good Luck today..I hope your doctor finds that your shoulder will feel better with PT..I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you!! :)
I made Randy a big breakfast..and I was right..bacon helped! :D
So, are you back from dr yet? Hope all went well and they can figure something out for an easy fix. Let us know.
There is something whistling in my room and its not the smoke alarm. I can't figure it out and it's not all the time. Making me crazy.
Barb, u r doing so great on your food choices. It sounds like you've made up you mind and you're sticking to it. On that note, I think I'll see if Louis will get me a latte!!!
Jodi, you little marcher you. You snuck right in there for another 69!! Good thing you are young and can be so busy. Lol. I think you will love having a tablet for FB and the blog. I hardly ever go on my computer anymore. I use my iPad constantly. It's the first thing I pick up when I wake and the last thing I put down at night. I get my emails on it too.
Zona, I don't think it's such a great Idea to have a bounce on your foot to slide. Lord knows where you will end up.....maybe across the street sliding in to first base!!!
Just came home from pt. it was my first real workout at the actual pt place. It was nice to get out of the house and also to visit with my old friends there from a couple of years ago. I had a good workout too and we practiced a little on the cane. I'm not quite stable enough for that yet.
Barb, hope you had a nice lunch with your grandson. It's always fun to see grand kids. I'm finding mine just don't seem to have the time they used to have for me anymore. It hurts my feelings even though I know they are getting older and busier. I still want them to be toddlers.
I can't tell who is first so Jodi and Zona.....you are beautiful!!!!
Tink, glad the shot with Tia has become an easy process for both of you. I almost had to do my blood clot shots myself when I came home from rehab but they stopped them....I wasn't too keen on giving myself a shot. I would have run over to your house!!!
That dang whistling won't stop and its not just in my ears. I'm telling you, it comes and goes.
Dianne. Maybe you have a ghost that is whistling to you. Try whistling back. LOL
I love it when I get to see my grandson. Dean and his mom were divorced when he was 2 so I didn't see him a lot when he was growing up. But he is 21 now and has grown into quite a nice young man. He just started as an upper-classman at UC Davis and I am very proud of him. He is considering law as a major.
Congrats on your successful PT visit. Even though it seems like torture, it is very important in your healing.
We went to the Crab Shack for lunch and I had grilled salmon and steamed broccoli and rice. It was yummy. Now I have to leave and go get weighed. I'll find out the effect of all my eating out this week. BBL
DIANNE & BARB - You're both sweet!! I hadn't seen Jane since we got back from Ohio. And I know that the evenings are the hardest for her without my Uncle Russ.
Well, I'm officially pulling my hair out. I don't have WiFi at home, but my STUPID smart phone is suppose to have a setting to make it a WiFi hotspot.....grrrr!!!! Guess what?!!? I can't get the freakin' thing to work!!! I guess I'll just go to bed...."tomorrow is another day"!!!
Checking in, I was gone all day. My girlfriend and I went shopping up North. Came back with stuff we couldn't live without lol!!! I almost didn't go because our temps dropped like a rock and I am a big woose! It turned out to be a decent day so I glad I went.
Time to catch up on comments , plant some crops and read some emails :)
Well, the doctor thinks I strained a tendon so she is setting me up with pt. I also complained about the pain in my left hip when I walk so I had x-rays taken of that. I have a feeling that the final diagnosis of all my ills will be "age". :(
HOdi Sometimes the smart phones aren't so smart. That was nice of you to take dinner to your aunt. You are a real sweetheart but we all know that already.
J/L. I Knooowww. I said in class tonight, if I could go in and weigh in the morning, I promise to come to class at night. The whole class thought that was a good idea, however, it didn't fly with the facilitator. :-( I stayed the same again this week.
I hope the PT takes care of your shoulder. I don't know who said these are the Golden years because that's a bunch of crap. More like rust, imho.
Jl, glad to hear you can have some pt and get well. That makes that Hawaii trip look even better, doesn't it? I'll bet you are counting the days for that to come. What a fun thing to be able to do that time of year.
How was your dinner? Ours was some leftovers we froze from one of my friends but now my stomach is once again growling. I've been eating much smaller portions but starting to get hungry a littler more often. I'm still taking pain meds so thought that might keep my appetite down.
Anyone thinking of putting up Christmas decorations next week after thanksgiving? I'm hoping Louis will put ours up before he goes to VA but when I mentioned it today, he got kind of grumpy, so we shall see.
Barb, that's good no gain with going out a few times. See, you made smart choices. Good for you. When I normally go to WW it's a noon meeting. My friend goes at 8am class to weigh and then comes back for the class with me. At least we don't go to lunch until after class
Dianne My dinner was good but I didn't make smart choices like Barb is doing. I had dinner out with a friend and it was her turn to choose where to go and also to pay. She chose a Japanese restaurant. She had a couple of dishes, including sushi which I don't like. I had shrimp and vegetable tempura and miso soup and salad. I love tempura. What's not to like about fried food? LOL
MARY - What did u find? I had been looking for some new sandals for Hawaii all fall. Thought I could find some at reduced prices around here after summer, but no!! I did find a pair of Birkenstock thongs I liked on QVC. They arrived last week. Breaking them in. I have feet as flat as flapjacks, so getting used to the arch support and toe bar in the bed of these sandals!! But I do like that they are adjustable and stay on my feet for walking!!
Jodi, I'm not in the mood to "butter anyone's biscuits" even for decorations ....thank you very much !!
Maybe he will put some up and we just have a small tree. If he doesn't, well than maybe we won't have any. He likes them better than I do anyway. He will probably wait until Monday night before he leaves and run around like a crazy person trying to pack and do Christmas. That will in turn keep me in my room and make me grouchy that he waited until the last minute. I'd be happy with a wreath on the door, stockings hung and Xmas card box to collect the cards. We go thru this every year. Too bad randy doesn't live near as he loves to decorate and he could be rushing around here like he does there place right Zona?
Well, hi again. It's 4:42 AM my time. Jodi should be around with some coffee soon. Actually, thought she might already be here since its 5:52 there. I'm pretty sure she's working today. I haven't been to sleep. Waiting for pills to work their magic. I took them pretty late tonight too, so that doesn't help. I wanted one of her donuts she's always handing when I'm asleep.
Maybe if I wait just a little bit longer JODI. JODI. .
Good Morning Dianne - Congrats on being first and most beautiful. I can't keep track of the comments. There are just too many. That is good to have lots to read but bad to have lots to answer. I just can't do it.
I wasn't on yesterday because it was my sister's birthday. I was lost in memories of past wonderful birthday parties and her 50th Wedding Anniversary. Please someone tell me it gets easier with time.
Jack left at five this morning for his trip to Vancouver. That's when I realize how much he does for me in the morning. He is such a sweetie.
I have already forgotten who said what to whom and I can't leave my place now. I know someone got an ipad or its equivalent. I thought of getting one and I know I would have one if I was still going places on my own. Again would someone tell me what use it would be when I am home most of the time? Maybe that is a silly question but I have never even held one.
Time to make my breakfast and my babies' breakfasts. Have a great day everyone.
J/L, when do you start PT? Yum, tempura. I love it.
Lynn, I went to Costco last week. I only intended to get the flavored water that I like and I left with almost $300 worth of stuff I apparently couldn't live without.
Jodi, lol@ butter his biscuits. How did Aunt Jane like her dinner?
Tinka, you are so lucky to have Jack to help you.
Dianne, I hope you finally got to sleep. Sleep also aids in healing, ya know.
Sharon and I have a show at our little Cabaret theater today. Their shows usually have no more than four cast members. This one is called "I Love You, Now Change". I'll be back later with a report/review.
HOdi I have some cute sandals but they have a thin sole, not really good for lots of walking. Of course, my left hip isn't good for lots of walking, either. I had x-rays taken of it yesterday. I bet I have arthritis in it. :(
SacBarb The PT department called me before I arrived home yesterday so I haven't spoken to anyone yet about setting up appointments. I was in a rush to get ready for dinner at the time so I'll call them back today.
I finally got to sleep for about three hours and will try and take a nap after cleaning lady leaves. I still don't feel very tired bit I feel very hungry....and not for biscuits!!
JL, boy that was quick for pt to call you. That's good that they want to get that going with you so fast.
Tink, I like my iPad because I don't use the computer or laptop much. It's easy to carry around even though I don't go out with it much. I just like the size of it and everything it can do.
Barb, sleep is not usually an issue for me. I don't know what happened last night. I can usually sleep in a second.
Barb, I think we had that too or something similar. I love you, your perfect now change. It was funny. Boy, will I be glad to get back out going to shows etc., again.
JL, I love tempura too but I also like sushi....most of it.
Just got home had a lovely day. Some lunch and gossip and then Costco.
Just read Barbs post, I forgot to look for seltzer water! Dammit. I always forget something tho I did get this cool book on how to make things, like a water fueled jet pack. No I am not kidding. This could be very good or very dangerous.
Dianne, I had the name if the show wrong. It was the one you said. It was funny and we liked it, but not as much as the women next to us. They were cracking up and laughing so loud that we missed some of the lines. I think they drank too much wine. This show had four people and a pianist.
I just had some chicken and asparagus that I baked yesterday. I cooked the asparagus with EVOO and balsamic vinigar and it is sooooo good. I decided to have a glass of wine (I included it in my calorie count) and since it has been so long since I have had wine, I am really feeling that one glass. I may be going to bed early tonight.
SacBarb I guess you and Sharon should have had wine, too, so you could out-laugh your neighbors. Sorry they kept you from enjoying the show as much as you might have.
Dianne I still haven't set up my initial pt appointment. I meant to call them back this afternoon but got home shortly after they closed. I'll try again tomorrow.
SacBarb Your dinner sounds good. I've been thinking of ordering off the senior menu at Denny's and bringing the food home. What I like there is the grilled chicken breast with a side of sauteed spinach and some oven roasted red potatoes. You also get salad and garlic toast with it. It's really pretty tasty.
Hi....I think we will have subway tonight. I've been asleep for a few hours so now that I'm awake its dinner time.
Looks Jodi has started a rumor about me and biscuits. (I'm still not in the mood). No buttering going on around here!!!
Barb, glad you liked the show but that is a pain to have noisy people next to you. Too bad you couldn't have moved. Your dinner sounds yummy.
JL, that's a pretty good deal from the senior menu. I love Denny's pumpkin pancakes. I haven't been able to have any this year yet but I will before the season is over.
Lynn, you sound like you are really getting into "crafts". Be careful with what you build. Lol.
Checking in before we add another day to this never ending blog lol!! I almost had a catastrophe tonight! I was doing the "root touch-ups" tonight when Hodi called me. We were gabbing quite a while when I realized I still had the stuff in my hair. Not sure if I said goodbye to her or not, but I sure rinsed my hair as fast as I could! After blow drying my hair(with a little fear) lol, all looks well whew!!!
Pumpkin pancakes are yummy. At Denny's they are even better because of the cream they give you to put on. Sort of like a light whipped cream only flavored with nutmeg, pumpkin, etc. it's kind of between whipped creak and cream cheese. Making any of you hungry yet? IHOP has them too but not with the same topping.
Mary, I'm not brave enough to color my own hair. I wish I would to save me some bucks. I'm a couple of weeks behind and go Saturday. It will be nice to finally be caught up on nails and hair now I just have to figure out how to get in and up in the chair for a pedi.
BARB - Jane liked dinner. We both had the Wisconsin Melt from Culver's. Basically a burger with swiss cheese and caramelized onions on rye bread!! She had a Raspberry shake and I had a Pumpkin Spice one. SERIOUSLY not the best choice I could have made....pffffffft!!!
Finally figured out why my phone isn't cooperating with the WiFi hotspot thing. I have to pay extra for that service!! Signed up for the service, but it won't b available til I pay my bill next month. WTF!!! Will b calling my cable company after work today to see what they charge to install WiFi here in the house.
Good Morning Jodi - The glazers taste great. Thank you. Getting my babies ready for the groomers. Be back later if I can find my way through 335 comments.
I am afraid to comment on my buttered buns because I have a feeling there is another meaning here. I guess I missed it when I was reading the comments. LOL
Order out and read your book, JL. Is your son still living with you and the grand kids? If not, your house probably doesn't even need cleaning. It would be nice if you could just come over and visit with me for awhile
Pt went well ...more cane practice. I'm going to try it at home over the weekend more. They want me to kind of alternate with the cane vs the walker. It sure would be nice for getting around in the car next week while Louis is gone. My knee kind of hurt more today when he was pushing on it. The pt guy said I have had a good week with improvement. I hope so
My hair turned out kind of pink one time many years ago I always like it when it's first done and darker. Wish it would stay that way.
Yum, thanks for the donuts, Jodi. Could someone bring some guac and chips? Major craving for Mexican food. I haven't had any for five weeks and I'm in withdrawal.
My girlfriend is bringing some dinner over and then TAMMY and boyfriend are coming to visit. It will be a nice busy night.
Diane, I made enchiladas Monday and burritos yesterday, with a side of guac :) Mex food is a favorite here. Had meatloaf and escalloped taters tonight. I should lose weight running meals across the road to me neighbor !!
BTW, I never color my whole hair! I go to the salon for that. I was doing the Clairol "root touch up". It is good for at least 2 weeks. Saves a bit on the pocket book lol!
Jodi, I have the Nook Color. It is pretty cool. I don't use it for internet much, mostly reading. I bought a mini laptop for traveling.
Did someone say " Chocolate Dipped Glazer Donuts!" Lord help me Jodi! I'm trying to lose weight!! Well, maybe just one lol!!!
Dianne I have ordered out and am waiting for food to be delivered. Funny you should ask about my son....he is currently in the process of moving in with his girlfriend. It seems to be a process. Everyday I come home and more of his stuff is gone. I sure hope this works out. The dog is staying with me for now.
Ladies....this is why I gave up the coloring thing!! Years ago a friend of mine would do it at her house, on the side. $30 for cut, color and highlight!! I loved the way it looked (and the price)!!! But she moved away and I was too cheap at the time to pay to have a salon do it. So I just decided to go "au natural". I love the fact that I have no "maintenance"!!! And I get asked all the time who does my "highlights"....ha!!!
Full day planned here. Coffee and laundry to start, then Tim and I are going to see Breaking Dawn part 2!! Paul and Jake are going to the UW Badgers game. We take on Ohio State. Should b an exciting game!!
Did you all know next Thursday is Thanksgiving? Yes I just realized this. I am losing my freaking mind. We have order our dinner from Safeway because we are on propane restriction until the 27th. We are getting a new tank and propane company and have to conserve what we have until they can switch out the old one. Finally dropping the price gouging robber barons that are Ferrell gas. They are bastards. They were charging us about 3.69 a gallon for propane and then a 6.99 for a hazmat fee and then another 5.99 for a delivery fee and then they raised the price of the yearly tank rental for 50.00 dollars to 85.00 for one year.
The new company charges 1.79 a gallon for the propane and then 50.00 for the tank rental and no additional fees.
Isn't my life so exciting? NOT I also broke the tooth that was just repaired and can't get into the dentist until Tuesday and I get my boobs squished that day too! Yay for me. So basically on Tuesday from the boobs up I will hurt for the day. lol
Just staying home this weekend Jodi and doing laundry and putzing around. Waving at everyone.
JODI: Lots of stuff to do this weekend..tons of clothes to wash..dusting to do..always dusting! Then we are putting up all the Christmas trees and decorating the outside of the house. That's mostly Randy's job..unless he yells for help.
Today is Randy's birthday..so I'm making a pineapple upside down cake..I know..it's unconventional..but that's his favorite. I'm also making him whatever he wants for dinner tonight..that should be interesting. We had his 'Birthday' dinner out last night. He got to pick any restaurant he wanted..get this..he picked IN and OUT!!! The California peeps might get this..I sure don't!
LYNN: There are times I'm glad we live where we do..not having to heat the house in the Winter is one of those things I'm happy we don't have to do. Of course the summers..not so good..
Sounds like it's going to be Torture Tuesday for you! I hope everything is ok by Tuesday evening though!
No matter what you do this weekend..I sure hope everyone has a good one! :)
LYNN: I misunderstood..not unusual for me..do you use propane just for cooking..or does that heat the house too? We had a gas furnace and oven/stove in CA..but it's all electric here. It was cheaper using gas but it always scared me.
Just got done cleaning my coffee pot....now than damn thing is leaking. WTF!!! Guess I'm going shopping after the movie, cuz God knows I ain't going without my CAWFEE!!
Morning Everyone. Up and at em' early this morning....for no reason other than waking at 6:30!
Lynn, surprise....yes it's Thanksgiving in a few days and then Christmas will be right on us. Have you started your Christmas cards yet lol? I always love thanksgiving dinner. It's one of my favorite meals and this year even better that I get out of the house after six weeks. Yikes, that's quite a difference in propane costs.
Zona, dust, wash, dust. Does it ever end? Nope! At least your floors are clean from that sock sliding. Sounds like randy picked a great birthday dinner place. He's a cheap date. Be glad you don't have to have me pick and take me out to dinner cause it sure as heck wouldn't be for a hamburger. Although, I wouldn't mind one of those right now.
Jodi, if my hair looked as pretty as yours, I would go natural too. Mine looks ugly but on the other hand my brother has beautiful thick white hair and has for some time. My daughter has red hair and has been letting all that white in and people always ask her too where she gets it highlighted.
My day is getting Louis to take me to the other side of town for my hair appt and try and talk him into stopping for Mexican food. He says he's going to decorate before he goes to VA Tuesday but I don't quite see him that's going to happen as we have company coming over for game....just one couple bringing dinner but I sure don't want boxes all over
Everyone have a good Saturday.
JL, sounds like you will be on your own again soon. No more having to cook and clean....yippee
Jodi, yup you snuck in again for that 69. I think we are going coffee pot shopping too (or rather Louis is). We have a Keurig and don't drink a lot of coffee but its nice to have for ourselves or a guest Tammy tried to use it last night and the water won't pump over so unless Louis can dogma quick google we are getting a new one today.
It is pouring down rain and I had plans to go shopping for Thanksgiving, but I think I'll wait til tomorrow. I don't mind walking in the rain, but I HATE driving in it. I may just use my Girl Scout skills and throw a log in the fireplace and read by the fire.
Happy Birthday dear Randyyy, Happy Birthday to youuuuu. I don't know how to make music notes on my iPad, so you'll have to use your imagination that I'm singing. That's much better than the real thing, anyway. ;-). Enjoy your day.
Dianne, I never liked the idea that water sits in the Keurig so I didn't think I wanted one, since I only drink one cup of coffee a day, However, I saw the little one that only holds enough water for one cup and decided to get it. I love it because I don't have any left-over (I used to keep it in the fridge for the next day). Now I have a fresh cup every day. I also have the K cup thing that I can use my own coffee in and don't have to buy those expensive, already filled, ones.
Jodi, my Hubby and I used to love watching college football. I liked the half time shows with the band. They don't show that on TV anymore. I don't watch much anymore 'cause it's not as much fun to watch them alone. Give us a report on the movie. Sharon and I are going to see it on Black Friday, while everyone else is shopping. ;-)
Jodi - Congrats at being first today. You haven't lost your touch for grabbing the 69's. I guess it's like riding a bicycle. Once you get good at it you never forget how.
I think your hair is lovely too.
Zona - Happy Birthday Randy.
Give him a big hug from me. I wish I could be there to see your decorations. You are getting me in the mood.
Barb - I think you are smart. I would rather see a movie than get into those long lines. Your Black Friday is like our Boxing Day. People start lining up at two in the morning. That isn't my idea of fun.
Dianne - Have fun at the Beauty Parlour. I have an appointment for the 21st. I lined up all my appointments from now until New Year's Eve because my hair dresser's schedule fills up fast.
Lynn - I just realized how close Christmas is too. There is just too much to do. I feel overwhelmed already.
Zona - I just figured out how to do the two tabs so I can comment on one and scroll on the other. Thanks for your help. By the way that Pineapple upside down cake sounds great. If I can borrow the family jet I will be there by 4:00.
HOdi You look beautiful in first today, especially with your "highlights". :) You still look young and chic going au natural but that would not be the case with me. I would just look older. I must admit, I pay an arm and a leg to deal with my hair. Hey, maybe that's what's wrong with my shoulder and hip. LOL
LynnD I'm having a bit of a meltdown about the holidays. I am just not in the mood. I need to figure out if anyone is planning on coming here for Thanksgiving because I really don't feel like doing the cooking or wrestling with a large turkey with this bum shoulder of mine. My daughter and her boyfriend usually spend it with his family. Now my son has a new girlfriend and she has kids and I'm just not up for having a big deal dinner. Maybe it's not too late to order from Safeway. That would sure help. I have been invited to a friend's house for a low-key dinner and that is sounding pretty appealing to me and just staying home for a quiet day alone is sounding really good, too.
Zona Happy Birthday to Randy! I love pineapple upside down cake. I haven't made one of those in decades, literally. I enjoy an In and Out burger but I don't see what the big deal is, either. I would have chosen lobster for my birthday dinner.
SacBarb The rain woke me up when it started to really come down hard and was hitting the side of the house. In fact, even in my half-awake stupor the word "lashing" came to mind while listening to how hard it was hitting the house.
I have no desire to see that movie but I would love to see "Lincoln", "Flight", or "Argo".
Randy said to thank you all for the Happy Birthday wishes..he was smiling from ear to ear when I told him!
JODI: I tried to get him to go to Culver's..but nope..his mind was made up..I was bummed..I like Culver's so much better..
DI: He IS a cheap date..but that's just because he's such a picky eater..drives me bananas!
BARB: Randy said you sounded great..even note less! ;) I told him about your friend's comment..I wish you could have seen his face.. :D
TINKA: Hug delivered!! No trees up yet..he is running behind..which means he's going to be rushing around the next few days..we both know what that's like..don't we? DI does too! ;)
J/LIN: He wouldn't go near lobster..I'm lucky to get him to eat shrimp..not kidding..he is the fussiest eater ever! I'm being lazy with the cake..it comes in a box mix now..no more making it from scratch..I hope this will turn out ok! :)
DIANNE - I ended up getting a Bunn. It is the kind of coffeemakers we have at work. Enjoying my first cup now ♥
BARB - Sounds like a great plan. Just started the Wicked series. I plan on reading after the Badger game is done :) And the movie was fabulous!! Totally took my breath away at the end *and make me cry*. I hope you like it!
TINKA - What is considered a Christmas Cake? Do tell!!
SLIN - Thank you. I think it is also important to keep the 'do sassy. I have some friends that have gone "au natural", but they aren't doing themselves any favors with their lack of style....imho!
The trailer for The Sessions looks fabulous!! Lincoln and Argo are definitely on my "to see" list. I'm also very excited for Les Miserables to open at Christmastime.
SacBarb It sounds like you are having a nice, cozy day. I went out for a little bit and discovered someone had egged my car. WTF!? The last thing I felt like doing on this cold, dreary, breezy day was playing with the water and hose.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 574 Newer› Newest»Wow...it's been awhile since we hit a second page!! FUN!!!
Sorry TINKA....saw it and "marched" with it!! I'm sure next time you will whiz right past me on your scooter!!! Wheeeeee!!! Love u lady ♥
I am really getting OLD!!!
ok, who deleted my comment :(
Too weird, once I added my second comment, the first one appeared!
Oooh, page two!
HOdi It looks like you lead the march to page two with Tinka right on your hels. Congrats!
Tinka You must have forgotten to ride your scooter or maybe you just didn't want to run down Hodi.
You never know. I may get back to Victoria again some day.
I am more into homemade chicken noodle :)
It has been snowing here. Our temps dropped like a rock overnight. We had our heat off for over a week. Back to November reality lol!
Mary You only have to get rid of a spare tire? Crap, I have to get rid of the whole damn vehicle. And you know what? It ain't going to happen. Oh, well.
Dianne Sounds like you are on the right track with the new pt. That sure is nice of your friends that bring meals to you. You are very blessed.
JL, I am very blessed with friends including every one of you!!!
Aaaaawww! <3
J/L, Leaving the gas burner on is scary. That's a real wake up call.
Your avatar makes me hungry.
My delete. Comment posted twice. I don't know why.
SacBarb My avatar makes me hungry, too. LOL
How's your new fridge?
Good morning HOoters!!
TINKA - I hate that the days are so short!! Although with my crazy schedule, it is much easier to go to bed early :)
MARY - Plenty of eye candy where we are going!!! Hoping to spot some super cute surfers ;)
BARB - I agree about TINA. Although a little wave or a moan would b nice ;)
DIANNE - Love corn chowder!! We sell that at our store. Super filling, though. Nice that you can save the main course for dinner tonight!
SLIN - Nice tan ya got there ;)
Best get in the shower....time to "hoist and rinse". Ha!!
I'm off to bed very late tonight. Jodi, have a good day at work while I seep for awhile. Night night.
Sleep well DIANNE :)
Morning Glories!
I see you were busy owls this weekend.
I forgot that blogger does a page break too! lol
I am really happy to see Jodi and Tinka were marching, I can use the exercise too.
Dianne it sounds like you are making amazing progress.
Waving at J/L, Barb, Mary, Zona and anyone else I missed. Love ya guys!
Good Morning All
Barb - I know when the date changes but the time confuses me because it lists EDT and I am on PDT.
LOL
Dianne BANG, BANG, BANG! Are you awake yet? ;)
LynnD Good morning! It's breezy here, today, which makes it even cooler thant the 58* on the thermometer. What's Richard's weather report today?
Tinka I hope you are having a lovely day. Waving at you.
Oh well.
Tink, I'm trying
Dianne Rarely a day goes by that I don't turn the heat on. Even in summer, it's not uncommon for me to turn it on in the evenings.
Happy Tuesday.
Have a great evening everyone.
Afternoon Asters,
I have been doing laundry and painting today. I am trying to paint or craft at least 3 times a week. Maybe someday I will get good. :D
Barb I love those tiny houses too. I dream of one for an escape and a studio. How fun would that be?
Waving at everyone!
Where are all the owls tonight? Yahoo....anyone awake or out there?
Dianne I'm here! Do you see me?
I had dinner out with friends tonight. It was a pleasant evening. Tomorrow I'm having dinner with a different friend. My social life seems to center around food. LOL
Good morning HOoters!!
DIANNE - I'm here!! Are you still up? Can't believe you aren't in a "Curd coma" ;) Enjoy pretty lady!!
LYNN - I'd love to see some of your artwork!!
Heading to work...will try to check in on break ♥
Good Mornin'!
JODI: Cool beans!! I don't have a tablet..but everyone that I know that has one..loves it..I know you will too!
Guess what? I discovered..quite by accident yesterday..that if you add a used Bounce sheet to sock slidin'..you can go twice as fast!! Wheeeeeee!!! :D
LYNN: You're already good..js.. :)
DI: I know a movie you can watch..it starts with New York..and it ends with it too!! ;D
Guess what? Liza Minnelli is going to guest star on SMASH! I can't wait!
TINKA: I'm so glad Tia is doing so well! I knew you would be able to do it!! :)
BARB: So did you get anything? ;)
J/LIN: It's 49* here this morning..brrrrrrr!! It'll be 80 this afternoon tho!
Have a good day everyone..gotta go make breakfast for Rand..he has to go into work early today..he's not happy about it..maybe bacon will help? ;)
ZONA - Being the safety champion at my store, please b careful!!!
Happy Hump Day.
BBL
Good morning, HOoters! Today is the day I finally go to the doctor to find out what kind of damage I've done to my shoulder.
Zona Be careful with that sock sliding or you'll end up going to the doctor, too. :(
HOdi I hope you love your new Nook. I haven't taken the plunge with that yet. As a matter of fact, I'm currently waiting on a book I ordered the other day when the bookstore didn't have it in stock.
SacBarb Enjoy your lunch. I hope you're able to continue to make smart choices. That's something I need to get back to doing.
JODI: I'll be careful..Swak! :)
Tip toe....
thru the HOoters....
thru the comments....
to 269!!!
Bwahahahaha!!!
BARB - Enjoy your lunch!!
SLIN - Let us know what the doc has to say. Keeping everything crossed that you don't need surgery ♥
Ha!! Leaving a comment from my new Nook!
Heading to my Aunt Jane's. Taking dinner over for her from Culver's :)
Zona, Thanks for the info on Smash. I think I'll check out their FB page to get the guest scoop.
Jodi, You are such a good niece. I'm sure Aunt Jane is very grateful.
J/L, waiting on the report of your doctor visit. Praying the fix will be an easy one.
We went to the Crab Shack for lunch and I had grilled salmon and steamed broccoli and rice. It was yummy. Now I have to leave and go get weighed. I'll find out the effect of all my eating out this week. BBL
Jodi, I'm sure your Aunt Jane appreciates you so much. Nothing like a meal being brought over and the company of your visit too. You are a good girl!!
DIANNE - p.s. Maybe MICHAEL is whistling at you ;)
Checking in, I was gone all day.
JL, where are you? I know you were going to dinner but need a dr check in on you
Dianne Are you sure it isn't the smoke alarm? They will go off intermittently to let you know the battery needs to be replaced.
Well, the doctor thinks I strained a tendon so she is setting me up with pt. I also complained about the pain in my left hip when I walk so I had x-rays taken of that. I have a feeling that the final diagnosis of all my ills will be "age". :(
SacBarb Sounds like you had a healthy lunch. Good job! It's not fair that you have to get weighed late in the day.
Zona Bacon always makes things better, right?
HOdi Sometimes the smart phones aren't so smart. That was nice of you to take dinner to your aunt. You are a real sweetheart but we all know that already.
Mary I'm a big woose, too, sometimes. I'm glad I don't have to drive to work anymore when it's stormy out.
BARB - No gain = success!! Way to go lady ♥
DIANNE - Hope you can find a way to "butter Louis' biscuits" ;) Maybe he can at least put part of them up for you!!
But I'm still not doing that biscuit thing. :)
Hmm where is Jodi I think ill get a little walker marching in here up to 300.
299 as I hobble down the march path
300. Whew made it!!! Now where is that seat
Ice....who has ice for my knee? Marching wasn't on my pt list today.
JODI. .
6:03 AM
7:07 am
First.
Morning glories!
Richard and Grandma spent the day together yesterday. We ran errands and had hamburgers out.
Today is another day of running around lunch with Angel and my friend Becky and then a trip to Costco.
I will try to check in later taters!
I skimmed the comments and it looks like you just have to do PT J/L? That is good.
Barb you are doing so good on your diet. Yay!
Love you all waving a wing!
Good Morning Lynn - We must have been typing at the same time. Have fun at lunch.
Happy Thong Thursday.
Have a good day.
Good morning, HOoters!
Dianne Geez, did you ever get to sleep? I'm still LOL @ you not in the mood to butter Louis' biscuits...
HOdi I have some cute sandals but they have a thin sole, not really good for lots of walking. Of course, my left hip isn't good for lots of walking, either. I had x-rays taken of it yesterday. I bet I have arthritis in it. :(
LynnD Yep, I'm very relieved about doing pt rather than needing surgery. I feel about surgery the way Dianne feels about buttering biscuits. LOL
Tinka I don't have a tablet type device either. I guess I don't feel like I need one at this point but I can see how they would be handy.
SacBarb The PT department called me before I arrived home yesterday so I haven't spoken to anyone yet about setting up appointments. I was in a rush to get ready for dinner at the time so I'll call them back today.
The cabaret show sounds fun and funny.
I need to go and find something to eat.
Afternoon Asters!
Not to self Dianne hates to butter biscuits.
Waving a Tinka.
Dianne, I had the name if the show wrong. It was the one you said. It was funny and we liked it, but not as much as the women next to us. They were cracking up and laughing so loud that we missed some of the lines. I think they drank too much wine. This show had four people and a pianist.
LynnD Tinka has famous hot buns. I wonder if she butters them. LOL
Wish I had some biscuits to butter.....
Mary I'm glad your hair didn't fall out or break off! I think hair products are more gentle than they used to be.
Dianne I've never had pumpkin pancakes. Maybe I'll try that one of these days.
Justlin, I think you are right. In the "day" hair coloring products did some damage!
Diane, not sure about pumpkin pancakes. I imagine this big heavy orange pancake on my plate lol!!
TINKA - It does get easier....but I still have days that it slaps me in the face. Even after 24 years ♥
DIANNE - Buttered biscuits....mmmmmmm!!! I love the power it gives me. Just sayin'!!!
SLIN - Wish I was closer so we could shop for our trip!!!
MARY - Glad the coloring worked out for you!!
Leaving Chocolate Dipped Glazer Donuts and Coffee for all you early risers ♥
Good Morning Jodi - The glazers taste great. Thank you. Getting my babies ready for the groomers. Be back later if I can find my way through 335 comments.
Have a great day everyone.
I am afraid to comment on my buttered buns because I have a feeling there is another meaning here. I guess I missed it when I was reading the comments. LOL
Dianne - I think I will stick with my lap top. If I can't play on my farms with an iPod I don't think I want one.
Mary - You were lucky with your hair dye. The last time I tried to do my own hair it turned out green. That was years ago. Now I go to the salon.
HOdi Good morning! Thanks for the chocolate dipped glazer donuts. How yummy!
Tinka I was a peroxide blonde for part of my teen years and I recall that too much time in the pool would give my hair a greenish tint.
Slan (Lani) is coming over today and we will work on a jigsaw puzzle and gab. Looking forward to it.
Just-Lin - I bet you looked pretty with green hair. Cara's hair is strawberry blond and her hair always had a tint of green in the summer.
Have fun at your gab-fest.
I am waiting for my "fur babies" to get back from the groomer's. Then Jack will leave for the farm and the babies and I will nap.
Tinka Lani cancelled because she isn't feeling well. I'm disappointed. Now what shall I do? Housework or read my book? Such a tough decision.
Hope everyone is doing okay.
Mary You are making me hungry for Mexican food. I think I need your enchilada recipe. :)
I think we just plain need Mary to make her enchiladas for us!!
Dianne I guess you really want Mary to make those enchiladas for us.
I read Diane's 3 comments and Justlins answer and almost peed my pants laughing!!
Heading to bed soon. As usual I have a busy week end.
Stay safe this Thanks Giving weekend and enjoy being with family and friends.
Sweet dreams, Mary!
I have no idea why that posted three times. I guess I was just trying to build up the numbers!!!
Night anyone out there. I know you are there JL
Yes, I am.
Sweet dreams, Dianne. I hope you can sleep well tonight.
Waving a wing at TINKA, SLIN, DIANNE, MARY, and anyone else that stops in later!!
Full day planned here. Coffee and laundry to start, then Tim and I are going to see Breaking Dawn part 2!! Paul and Jake are going to the UW Badgers game. We take on Ohio State. Should b an exciting game!!
What do you have planned for the weekend?
Morning Glories!
Good Morning!
It was cheaper
using gas but it always scared me.
LYNN - Always something ;) Good luck at the dentist and the smoosher :)
ZONA - IN and OUT over Culver's....really?!!? HAPPY BIRTHDAY RANDY!!!
Just got done cleaning my coffee pot....now than damn thing is leaking. WTF!!! Guess I'm going shopping after the movie, cuz God knows I ain't going without my CAWFEE!!
sneaking in.....
for
369!!!
Dogma or do a quick google
Happy Saturday.
Zona, I don't get the In and Out hamburger thing either. A friend of mine thinks they are 'simply orgasmic,' but to me it's just another hamburger.
Lynn, so sorry that your tooth broke. I know how much you love the dentist. NOT! I hope he doesn't charge you again to fix it.
Jodi, my Hubby and I used to love watching college football. I liked the half time shows with the band. They don't show that on TV anymore. I don't watch much anymore 'cause it's not as much fun to watch them alone. Give us a report on the movie. Sharon and I are going to see it on Black Friday, while everyone else is shopping. ;-)
Good Morning Owls
We are doing our Christmas cakes today.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Dianne Yes, your brother does have beautiful white hair. Mine would just be mousey gray, I think, but I'm not willing to find out.
Someday when you are healed and I am healed, I should come visit you and we will go out for a good dinner.
JL, I'll go see Flight with you. There is another one out getting Oscar buzz with Helen Hunt....true story but forget the name.
JL, we can go out for lobster. Yum yum, does that sound good. Do you notice that everything sounds good to me?
Dianne, Helen Hunt's new movie is called The Sessions, I think. I really wan to see Lincoln, too.
It's still raining here and I am all cozy in my warm house. Think I'll even take a nap.
ZONA - Like my cousin said about their local Kewpie burger...."it ain't no Butterburger"!!! lol!!!
JODI: And they don't have cheese curds either!!! :D
I found out that I bought the wrong cake mix..I have to make the cake from scratch!! Yikes! Off to find a recipe!!
At hair salon. Feels so good.
DIANNE - Getting your pretty on!! Enjoy lady ♥
ZONA - scratch, scratch....lol!!
ZONA - I hope Randy enjoys his song....lounge lizard or not ;)
O M G!!! Pulling my hair out with this Badger game....
Dianne I forgot about the Helen Hunt movie. That looks really good, too. Hey, a movie and a lobster dinner. Doesn't that sound marvelous!
Zona Too bad you couldn't take the easy route with the cake but I bet it tastes fantastic. Nothing like a cake made from scratch.
400
SacBarb It sounds like you are having a nice, cozy day. I went out for a little bit and discovered someone had egged my car. WTF!? The last thing I felt like doing on this cold, dreary, breezy day was playing with the water and hose.
Tinka You snuck in there and got the 400! Congrats, you sneaky little marcher, you. LOL
