Merry Christmas HOoters! I hope you are all enjoying the day with your families!

HOdi Merry Christmas! I had a wonderful day at my daughter's with her, her boyfriend, his father, my son, and my two grandkids. It was a really lovely day. We had a wonderful meal at a country club in Napa. Fabulous! My dog had fun visiting with my daughter's two dogs and everyone, including the dogs, got lots of gifts and treats.

I hope you all had a wonderful day. Are you all as exhausted as I am?

It was a very tiring busy day and fun too. It was beautiful with first the sun and blue sky and my SIL mountain home and just as pretty when it was snowing until we had to drive home. We did it as a caravan and Andy followed us with his big truck in case anyone went into a ditch. My nephew did before he got out of the driveway. It took a long time to get here and saw lots of accidents along the way. We were tired enough that Louis and I are doing our Christmas today. Everyone had a nice day.

JL, sounds like you had fun with your whole family...that's so nice. What did the grandkids think about their presents?

Jodi, did you have to work on Christmas day?

Barb is probably still doing dishes. Hope you day and night went well. You too Mary.

I am planning on having a Christmas lunch with a friend today but i don't know with the weather. It's still snowing. This is not the weekend for this as for once we have plans all weekend.

Dianne I'm glad you got home safe and sound. The grandkids loved their gifts as I knew they would. We had a lovely sunshine-y day, no jackets required although I did put I jacket on when it was time to head home as the temp dropped at about 4:30 when the sun was low.

Happy day after Christmas, HOoters!

I've been a busy girl cooking and entertaining and I am so glad it's all over. I got a wonderful surprise in the middle of Christmas Eve dinner. Someone knocked on the door and when I answered it, Chad was standing there. He flew in from Seattle as a surprise. After recovering from my mild heart attack (jk), I was so happy to see him. He will be here until Dec. 31. Yayyyy!!!

sacBarb said...

I hope everyone had a nice Holiday and I'm sorry I was MIA.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, LOL I actually got lots of help with the cleaning up after both meals and in fact, Chad did the dishes on Christmas Day.

sacBarb said...

J/L, I used to make those peanut butter cookies with the kisses and my Hubby would 'help' me by unwrapping the kisses. He ate one for every one he put on the cookies. :)

sacBarb said...

Jodi, I'm glad you had a nice Christmas Eve with your family and the Lutefisk feast! :)

Jodi said...

SLIN - Just got back from shopping for tomorrow. We have one last Christmas at the farm. Bring on lutefisk #2!!!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Yes, I did work yesterday. The other bookkeeper has younger children, so I volunteered. I had my time with my kids on Christmas morning when they were little. Now that they are older, kind of fun to just chill with them when I got home. We actually ended up going to Paul's Uncle Dwight and Aunt Judy's house later in the afternoon. Hadn't done that in years. It was really nice!

Jodi said...

BARB - What a nice Christmas surprise! Enjoy the time with your boy ♥

Just_Lin said...

Barb What a fun surprise! I love that!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Um, I think I'll pass on that lutefisk but so glad you were able to spend quality time with family even though you worked. That was a really nice gesture, by the way, to work on Christmas and I'm sure it was appreciated by your co-worker.

Jodi said...

SLIN - It was an easy decision. Paul has been laid off for over 3 weeks, so the time and a half helps. I'm also working on New Year's Day.

Just warmed up some soup and happened to find The Notebook playing on TV. Gonna slip my jammies on and have a good cry. Good night!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Sorry about Paul being laid off. What a rotten time of year for that to happen. Thank goodness you have steady work. Enjoy the movie. You know, that's one I've never seen but I understand it's a tearjerker.

Dianne/Denver said...

JL..you have to see it. It is so good.

sacBarb said...

Jodi, I am enjoying having Chad here. He and I talked about Lutefisk and he said it is definitely an acquired taste, one which neither of us has acquired, but I'm glad you enjoy it!

sacBarb said...

J/L, I have seen the Notebook and it certainly is a tearjerker. I am not one to watch the same movie over and over, (except Gone With The Wind) and expecially if it is a tearjerker. I am not that fond of crying.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I saw you peeking in for a minute!

Mary/MI said...

ok, where did my post go :(
Crap I haven't had to copy in a long time!
I am glad everyone had a good Christmas!

Jodi that was sweet of you to cover that young lady. My son Tony did the same thing only I don't think his wife was to happy about it. They came over on Christmas day instead of Christmas Eve. My Grandson came over the next day and brought his girlfriend. We had never met her. They have known each other since high school. Sweet gal. We all felt comfortable around her.

Dianne, no way would I be driving in those on those mountain roads! Many years ago we went through them. The roads were horrible. We did a complete turnaround almost hitting a semi coming in our direction! Glad you got home ok!

Barb/CO, how cute that your new pups are in"school" with their sibling!

JLin, diddo on the Lutefisk lol!!

SacBarb, I love a man helping in the kitchen!... I think, never happens here lol!! My son does once in a while.

Dam, I have to return a pair of expensive jeans I got Jim for Christmas and I cannot find the receipt!! I have cleaned out every nook and cranny in my car, purses, coat pockets and all rooms in the house! Not sure if JCP will let me exchange them!

Just_Lin said...

Mary I hate when I need a receipt and can't find it! Did you put the purchase on a credit card? Maybe they could use the purchase history to return the jeans or at least make an exchange.

Just_Lin said...

Barb Good on Chad for helping you clean up in the kitchen. You certainly did a lot of work and deserve a helping hand.

SLIN - You should really watch it. It's a beautiful love story!

Jodi said...

BARB - Got my second shot last night...and my fill for the season! Sam's boyfriend Nate tried it for the first time last night. Poor kid. The look on his face was priceless. Lol! I give him credit for being a good sport, though!

Jodi said...

MARY - Did you find the receipt? Most stores can track the card that you used. Heck of a game today. Aar9n was out, now he's back in. GO PACK!! *ducking* ;)

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Looking good for the Broncos so far!

Mary/MI said...

Jodi, good thing you ducked lol!
Ok, this is kind of funny.. After searching , I finally gave up. Before bed, I said a quick prayer for a miracle. I said "please , before the day is over, give me a small miracle". Remind me to be more specific next time lol! I got my miracle a few hrs ago. I found it... in the dryer! I pulled out the towels and there was a tightly folded wad of paper. I literally gasped! I slowly unrolled the layers. The only visible letters were "JCPenny!" nothing else! Oye vey! I paid with my Debit card. It shows on my online statement the amount I paid, just not the item. I will copy and take it with me and hope they have mercy on my when they see the messy recite!

Mary/MI said...

"receits"" receipts", I never know which, certainly not "recites lol!!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi I'm just not up for tearjerkers lately but I will probably watch The Notebook someday. I haven't even watched Dawn of Planet of the Apes because I just know there will be a part in it where someone is cruel to one of the apes and it will upset me.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I'm so glad you found the receipt even if it is washed out. I bet they'll go ahead and honor your request to return the pants. After all, a lot of people will be returning gifts that they have no receipt for.

Mary/MI said...

JL, I am hoping! I get my roots done tomorrow in the city and will be returning them right after.

Last night I watched " This is where I leave You". Kind of weird in parts, but all in all funny.

I need to get to bed. My appoint. is at 11:00 and I am not good at getting up and looking decent in the morning lol! Nite all!

Just_Lin said...

Mary I enjoyed that movie. I'm with you. I'm not good at getting up, either. I try to make all my appointments for the afternoon.

Just_Lin said...

Does anyone have exciting plans for New Year's Eve?

Jodi said...

MARY - Good luck today, but I'm sure they won't give you any trouble returning the jeans.

Jodi said...

SLIN - No plans for me. I work at 4 am on New Year's Day. Sam and I are going to see Into the Woods tonight. It's $5 Tuesday at all Marcus theaters! Looks like a fun flick!

Mary/MI said...

Yay! they let me exchange the jeans! I showed her my laundered receipt. She just smiled, asked for my phone number to look for my account. Out popped my last purchases :). I paid with my debit card, so I didn't think they had a record of it. Yay JCP!!

I am so sad for the families of the airplane that crashed! Just breaks my heart :(

NYE we were going to go to dinner with my Bro & Sis-in-law. This morning we got a call that my SIL was taken to the hospital. She had a 2 pt blood transfusion. How in the hell does some one lose that much blood? She kept passing out and refused to go to the hospital. Today her hubby put his foot down and made her go! Good thing! I'm going to run down to see her later.

Got my results on my Mammogram today. My tata's passed with flying colors!!!

Heading out soon. Going to a movie with Sam turned into dinner with Alex and Dustin, and meeting James and his Mom, Shari at the theater. Gay movie night. Wheeee!!!

Jodi said...

MARY - I knew they would let your exchange the jeans. Glad your BIL put his foot down. Hope your sis feels better soon ♥

Just_Lin said...

Mary Wow! Your SIL must have been very anemic to need a blood transfusion. WTH? There has to be a reason for that. Hope they find out what and get her fixed up.

Yay for being able to return those jeans. All that worry over the receipt and they just needed your phone number. LOL

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Good news on the tatas. The better to wear tassels. LOL I hope you're having a fun night with your friends.

Just_Lin said...

I have no plans for New Years Eve other than making an enchilada casserole with verde sauce. Love that green sauce!

Jodi said...

SLIN - We had a fun night! Sam ended up driving....OY!!! The girl about gives me a heart attack. She brakes at the last possible second. We had dinner at Chili's and then went to the movie. Good thing I told Sharon and James to meet us at 6:45. There was a line out the door for tickets. Crazy!! So I purchased their tickets and had them meet me inside. The movie was really good, although it got a little long at the end. Meryl Streep was fantastic as the witch. And the boy that played Jack (Beanstalk Jack) is the same boy that played the little guy that was killed in Les Mis. My only problem was my crazy legs kinda started kicking in, so that was annoying in the last 45 minutes.

Jodi said...

SLIN - Your casserole sounds delicious! Once Jake is done with pt this morning, I don't plan on leaving the house again. We are suppose to have wind chills below zero all day.

Just_Lin said...

Happy New Year HOoters!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Good plan. Stay in out of the cold and out of the way of the crazies on the road.

sacBarb said...

Happy Birthday Mary. I hope you are enjoying your day. :)

sacBarb said...

J/L, Your casserole sounds yummy. I'm going to have a very quiet NYE too. Chad left today, so my house is vewy, vewy, quiet!

sacBarb said...

Jodi, I took Dean to PT today at 1:00. Only problem was, his appointment was at 11:30 - oops! I told him it was at 11:30, but his wife told him it was at 1:00 sooooo I'm not sure what's gonna happen when she gets home from work! I'm just glad I won't be there!

sacBarb said...

Happy New Year to all the HOoters and even you who are lurking!

Mary/MI said...

We visited my SIL today. They have her on her 3rd pt of blood! She looks so pale and weak. She can't even get up to go to the bathroom without passing out! I can't believe all the Drs she was seeing never tested her blood levels! She has a very aggressive stomach infection that caused a bleeding stomach ulcer.
We went to an early dinner and came on home. It is 17 deg and dropping.
Jodi, we are hunkering down for the night too!

JL, Yummy on your enchiladas! They never get enough Mex. food here!

SacBarb, LOL, I am having a loooong birthday!!!

Dianne,where are you??

Happy New Year to all my lurking and non lurking friends :)

Just_Lin said...

Barb At least it was Dean's wife and not you that lead him wrong about the appointment time. The casserole is yummy and easy to make. I forgot to say that it is a chicken enchilada casserole. Especially easy when you use chicken from a roasted chicken purchased at the store. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Mary Hey, if this birthday never ends does it mean you don't have to get older? Good plan to go out and eat early and then hunker down where it's safe and cozy.
