Irish Nuns

by Dianne

A car full of Irish nuns is sitting at a traffic light in downtown Dublin , when a bunch of rowdy drunks pull up alongside of them.

"Hey, show us yer teets, ya bloody penguins!" shouts one of the drunks.

Quite shocked, Mother Superior turns to Sister Mary Immaculata and says, "I don't think they know who we are; show them your cross."

Sister Mary Immaculata rolls down her window and shouts, "Piss off, ya fookin' little wankers, before I come over there and rip yer balls off!"

Sister Mary Immaculata then rolls up her window, looks back at Mother Superior, quite innocently, and asks, "Did that sound cross enough?”

Dianne Thanks for the blog. It certainly sounded cross enough to me. LOL

Bwah ha ha!!! Funny!!!
JustL,I seei you all pretty up there on the #1 branch! Don't poop on me!

We got quite a bit of snow last night and expecting more tonight. I'm yelling "Uncle!" Hodi and Dianne!!! We are all congested here from the dampness and from not moving around enough to get the crap out!I've been drinking a lot of tea with lemon and honey.

I am slipping back to area 51 to see if I missed anything........

Mary/MI said...

Dianne! I LOL, @ your wearing the wrong earrings!! Too funny!

Jim went for a walk a little while ago. He was back in 5 min., covered in snow and breathing hard! Yup, he fell down! I nagged at him for not taking his phone! He took in some of his inhaler, grabbed his phone and off he went again lol! I tried to get him to take one of my ski poles for safety sake! Nope. stubborn man! He did come back in one piece. I am sure he will be sore later from his fall!

sacBarb said...

Dianne, Very funny blog. I think I know that nun! LOL I cracked up at you wearing the wrong team's earrings. J/L is right, you won't live that down for a long time! I am going to have to tell Kathy about it, too.

sacBarb said...

Mary, Your Hubby sounds like mine. He wouldn't use a cane after he pulled all the ligaments in his leg because he thought he made him look old. He was 40 at the time. So he limped along and made it worse! I told him limping made him look old, too.

I had my 6 month follow-up appointment with the back doctor today and all looks good. He said my low back pain may be due to the arthritis I have in my back. So I can take Advil now because the healing has progressed enough. I was only able to take Tylenol up until now because Advil or Motrin would interfere with the healing of the new bone they put in my back along with the fusion.

Dianne/Denver said...

Barb, I hope the Advil will give you some relief. Glad your appt went good. I think men are so stubborn more than ever women. I just don't understand why they won't use something to help themselves. Heck, if I didn't drive the store cart I wouldn't be able to do all the things I do. It's not fun but it keeps me out doing things. Using the walker from time to time too. I've gotten past the vain part... Im not sitting home. Barb, at least I wasn't accidentally wearing Raider earrings. Btw, Kathy is cheering for the Broncos in the Super Bowl so I guess I'd better get some tassels to her. Randy does have a Bronco shirt and hat. Did she tell you that I sent her Raider things for Christmas? Now that's hard to spend money on.

I lost 2.2 at WW today so that made me happy. I'm wondering if my primary dr will notice at my physical that I've taken off some pounds. She always gripes at me about weight.

JL, you would be so surprised if you met Bruce. He would never even talk politics with you at lunch. You'd go away shaking your head wondering if you just talked to the same person!! He's on the computer more as his health is not good so he's home a lot. JL, I saw your town on the news last night. Boy, those apartments don't look good.

Mary, I haven't sent you any snow. We've had nothing but nice weather for two weeks so it must be Jodi. We're in the high 50's.
You guys be careful out there walking. My biggest fear....falling.

I'm loving this sunny nice weather as we know it won't last. I think I'm ready for a cruise with none in sight. Mary, you go on a trip soon, right? I'm thinking April

sacBarb said...

Dianne, So it sounds like Bruce is one of those people who hides behind the 'anonymity' of the computer. Even tho he isn't really anonymous, he can say things on the computer that he won't say to a person's face? He sure likes to stir up the $hit on FB!

Mary/MI said...

Dianne, yes, the first week in April. I would love to go on a cruise again, but no one to go with me :( Falling is a fear of mine too!

Barb, Happy dance on your good med report! I have trouble with my lower back too especially if I do any bending and lifting. It used to bother me when I did dishes., that is the main reason I bought a dishwasher a few years back. Packing for a vaca is the worst, all that bending!

JL, I saw an interview of a lady living in the apartment on the cliff. She said she was not leaving! Crazy! There is no way I would get any sleep in there!

Hi Jodi~~~~

Dianne/Denver said...

Oh Barb, Bruce isn't shy by any means. He just isn't a pot stirrer much Day to day except with me and after 66 years, I'm still not used to it!!
I'm probably not explaining it right but hopefully you know what I mean.

Mary, I wouldn't sleep in those apartments either. I'm surprised they haven't made the people move out. Scary!!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I hope I haven't made you feel like you have to defend your brother. It's not your problem, it's mine. I still feel moved to call him out on his BS once in a while even though I know he will refuse to his last breath to admit he might be wrong about something. Some of the memes he posts are so outrageously false that I feel I just have to respond. He will support what he posts even though he cannot come up with one credible resource to support his post. Mostly they are horrible insults directed at specific people and don't even really promote a particular political view. When he can't support it, he then reverts to insulting me by calling me names. Was he a bully in school? Just wondering. Anyway, life is too short to get too involved with the back and forth crap he and I do. It just seems to me that he enjoys slandering people regardless of if there's any truth to it or not. Okay, I'm done. I'm not going to put you in a position of defending someone you love. Bruce probably wishes I would fall over that crumbling cliff. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Mary I love my dishwasher. I guess I've had one for about 10 years now. It was really starting to bother my back to stand at the sink and wash a bunch of dishes. I love hearing it doing its thing while I sit and relax in the living room. LOL

There was a time when I didn't worry much about falling but ever since I tripped on the dog toy and fell and broke my shoulder, it is now on my mind. I'm taking a big dose of Vit D with my calcium now, hoping that will help out. I didn't like the medication the doctor started me on as you take it once a week in the morning but you have to have an empty stomach and not have anything for at least one hour preferably two hours. Not having my coffee when I first get up is not fun for me, especially when you aren't allowed to lie back down, either. Regardless, it made me feel queasy all day and I decided I didn't want to spend every Monday feeling that way. Therefore, I really upped the Vit D instead.

Just_Lin said...

Barb I'm so glad you got a good report from the doctor. I hope the Advil helps you out with any residual discomfort and pain you may still feel.

It sounds like Sharon is really keeping herself busy in her retirement. I should be more like her. Days just go by and I have nothing to show for it.

So far, it is a cold, grey day here. More rain is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Hopefully the apartments won't go over the cliff. Whoever owns those buildings is going to lose a lot of money. I guess one building was red tagged a year or two ago and now two are yellow tagged.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Thinking of you and waving a wing.

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi JL, I don't feel that way about defending him. Heck, I agree with you. Surprisingly, he wasn't a buy in school. He sure was to me growing up though. I just mostly don't pay attention as long as you don't hold his actions against me. You know I'm sweet and don't talk politics.. Right? :) I did watch the debate tonight. I wanted to see what it would be like without Trump. I've never watched debates before but have been this year. I guess there is just so much going on this time. It will be interesting to see what Iowa does Monday.

Today I had my physical and for once my dr high fived me for losing weight. It was a shock. Everything went fine for another year. Now I have to do that mammogram in a few months. She was so nice to write all new prescriptions for me since nice I've switched to MEDICARE.

Denver is having a big pep rally downtown Sunday for the Broncos. Wish I could go. My friend Barb and I are going to see Sisters at the cheap movie. We've been waiting for it to get there. I kind of want to see Concussions there too. Louis and I are going to movie tomorrow to see one I can't remember the name of...something about a storm and it looks good. I do like the movies.

Are people still staying in those apartments, JL? Oh, I'd be so scared. OH....just FYI..I haven't been wearing by Cincinnati earrings any more. Anyone want them? Free to the first person !!

Well, we are due for big snow on Monday and Tuesday. Talking about schools closing. We've had a pretty decent winter so far but there is a lot left. I just like the sprinkle of snow without ice.

I take Vit D and just started taking calcium as it was a smidge low. Tomorrow is late much with Tammy, dr appt with yet another dr And then movie. At least I have my referrals done now. So far that's what I don't like about new medicare and supplement.

Mary/MI said...

Dianne, looks like you are taking good care of yourself! Good for you! I sure wish I could go to the movies with you :( no one here likes to see what I want. I just wait until they come out on vid. We are supposed to get a storm here next week too! Not sure who to blame on that one lol!!

JL, I am very careful not to fall, but sometimes Zoie sneaks up on me and I almost go flying! Mostly I step on her! Poor baby! I read some where that if you practice standing on one foot for a while your balance tends to be better. I practice and do pretty good! I am not far from a chair or wall !!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I would never blame you for the fact that your brother is a total ass. :)

Congrats on that weight loss and making the doctor happy. What ever happened about that blood issue you had? Has that been resolved?

It's been raining all day. Not heavily but pretty steadily. I wonder how the apartments on the cliff are doing. I saw on the news that a newly purchased home in SF had to be demolished because of danger it was going to slide down on other homes. The new owners hadn't even moved in yet and they bought it for 2 million dollars. They were 1,000 miles away at the husband's father's funeral when a neighbor noticed a big crack opening up on the driveway of the newly purchased house and a significant crack starting in the house's foundation. The neighbor was smart enough to call city officials to take a look at it. I guess I won't whine about the fact that I need to do some small repairs in the mortar of my brick chimney and replace the thing on top which I think is called a spark deflector.

Mary It's good to stay balanced. LOL Standing on one foot and swinging the other leg forward and back is good and so are a number of yoga poses. Of course, none of this will help if you dog trips you.

All this rain has made the ticks come up from the ground it seems. In the last couple of weeks I've removed 3 from my dog. I've been finding them after one of her twice weekly adventures with the dog walker. The last one was on her eyelid and so tiny that I couldn't grasp it with my fingernails but was finally able to remove it with tweezers. I'm glad I didn't poke my dog in the eye. I've never had a tick problem to deal with so I only have the dog on flea repellent. Guess I'll have to change to something that deals with ticks, too, if this keeps up much longer.

Mary/MI said...

JL, ticks!! All I can think of is Lyme disease! My Bro-in-law's son has been very ill from Lyme disease. It has overtaken his mind and has alienated his whole family! He is a mess!He has the best family and it has taken a toll on them too, with all kinds of accusations from their son. It is a hard thing to cure/control! Be careful!

It was a cold, but a nice day today. I am not happy with this dang congested chest! We all have the crud!
It was a cold but nice day out today. I took the dogs for a short walk hoping to break up some of the congestion. It helped a bit.
Later....

Went to see The Finest Hours tonight. Boy, was it a good movie and true story. The one person still alive (1952) lives in Denver. He's 84 so they had him on the news talking tonight...so interesting. You all should go see it. It just came out today. It as fun seeing things from the 50's too. I've been to three movies in a week and a half...record.

Well Mary, if you get your storm on Monday its not from us as that's when ours is coming. I'll pass thanks. Boy, I couldn't balance like that on one foot. I'd fall right down. That's sad about your brother in laws son.

JL, I don't have a blood disease but an auto immune thing that can either be on skin or oral on your cheek. Mine is under control but I'm on chemo pills once a week. I lost hair for quite awhile but I think it's slowed down. I'm just wishing it to hurry up and grow back now. Spicy things still bother me but nothing like it used to before the meds. I was on ten pills a week so happy we've gotten it down to four.

That expensive house was on our news last night. How terrible.

Well, that's about it. Anyone have weekend plans? Looks like Jodi is out having fun.

Dianne/Denver said...

What are you busy hooters doing today? I had lunch with my cousin and then when I came home it was 67 outside...too nice to stay home. I got Louis to take a ride in the foothills and Red Rocks. The wind came up and by the time we went to dinner from the ride it was 37. Light snow now , will stop by morning. Big snow tomorrow night thru Tuesday. Yea..can't wait...said not me!! It was so beautiful today. I think I want to live where it's Fall and Spring all the time. Tonight I watched a special Broncos show to hype us even more. Everywhere you go people are dressed in Bronco shirts.. I even people working in the stores. WW told us to dress in them this week for our meeting. It's a fun time. Will even be more fun if we could win.

Ok, hope you're all ok and doing something so fun.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I am aware of Lyme disease. I am sorry your brother-in-law's son is so sick with it. I only know of one other person who had it. He is a friend of my brother's and he and his dog had it at the same time quite a number of years ago. If I recall correctly, the dog was diagnosed first which lead to the correct diagnosis of the guy. Anyway, they were both cured with treatment.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne It sounds like you had a pleasant day yesterday. Mine wasn't as nice. I did take myself out to lunch and spent some time playing with the dog. Otherwise, I was just doing housework and other tasks around here.

I saw on the news that there is a lot of fun stuff going on in SF for Super Bowl week celebrations. Too bad you aren't here for it. You could have done the zip line. :)

Dianne/Denver said...

JL...you AND I could have done the zip line. How far r u from SF? Maybe you could drive over and get me some cool Super Bowl things. Pretty please? I still have been working on winter clothes and finally finished tonight. I have four bags for donation and even have things color coordinated. Boy, am I organized. I just finished. I got the urge to do some at 1:30 this morning so did a group then too. Boy, I'm breathless from moving all this stuff. I still have things with tags on it but don't like it much and it's even the right size. I seemed to have liked things that buttoned down the front in my old days. I don't like them now because my boobs make it hang weird!!

Where are the other owls? Do you think Barb, Jodi and Mary are having a party without us? That wouldn't be very nice.

Went to see Sisters today and had a coupon so got in for $1.50. It was such a funny movie. I liked it much more than I thought I would. I'm not crazy about Tina Fey but really liked her in the show. I can hardly look at her without seeing Sara Palin!! It's snowing very hard and was a little slippery driving home. We just went to IHOP to eat but that snow really started coming down.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, So glad your Dr. appointment went well. Star Wars is the first movie I've been to in a long time. There are a few I'd like to see before the Oscars Awards. It's more fun to watch the show if I've seen at least some of the movies. I really want to see Spotlight.

sacBarb said...

J/L, I had groceries delivered again on Friday and as I was going through the sale items I saw that Kahula was $7 off, so of course I had to get a bottle. I was talking on speaker phone with Kathy when they arrived and mentioned to her that I got the Kahula. She said "do you have to show your ID?" and the delivery guy laughed and said "no!" I guess I look like I'm over 21, but he didn't have to laugh! Anyway, I plan to have a little (or maybe a big) sippee Monday while watching the Bachelor.

sacBarb said...

Mary, I am going to try that exercise standing on one leg and see if it helps my balance. I worry about falling, too, because I am a klutz and also the cats get under foot a lot. I did step on Tara the other day. She is the one that doesn't meow, but she did give me a dirty look! Every time I go down the hall to the bathroom, she runs like crazy to beat me to the door. It's kind of funny except for the day I stepped on her.

sacBarb said...

Jodi, Good for you goin' out and livin' it up. I hope you enjoyed yourself. Did you get to see Kim this weekend?

Dianne/Denver said...

Barb, I don't see Spotlight playing anywhere here. I actually hadn't heard of it except from you and JL. I haven't even seen any trailers for it.
I like Kahlua too. I wish we could get booze from our grocery stores. Do you like having them delivered? What is the delivery fee?

Still snowing hard!! I'd better not be trapped in here tomorrow or will actually have to start cleaning my office next. My to do list gets done very slow over years.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Well, what got into you with all the cleaning and organizing? I wish I'd get a burst of inspiration like that. I guess I did a little bit yesterday and actually got some stuff done around here.

I'm a baby when it comes to driving into SF. I have no problem about going into the avenues but I haven't driven into the downtown area for decades and I feel intimidated by it. For one thing, I really don't "know" the city. There are so many one way streets, steep hills, impatient drivers, bike messengers whizzing by, double parked delivery trucks, etc. They have the whole "Super Bowl City" area blocked off to cars so I guess one would need to take BART which is a rapid transit rail system that I've never had occasion to go on so I wouldn't know what the hell I'm doing and would probably end up on the other side of the Bay. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Barb $7 off on Kahlua is really good. I just checked and we don't have that on sale here. Boo hoo! I only have a little bit left so should get more today, too.

Spotlight is playing in the next town over so maybe I will go see it during a matinee or something. The couple I usually go to the movies with is leaving for a trip to Florida in a couple of days and won't be back until a couple of days before the Oscars.

It sure was windy all day yesterday and through the night. On the evening news, they said Pacifica was getting 30-50 mph gusts. I was glad to see there are no branches down in my yard.

Mary/MI said...

I am still trying to shake the cruds! It has been hard sleeping at night. I am a stinker about taking meds!
My Mother was often over medicated my Drs and I have since been leery of taking anything! All I take is my nightly eye drops for glaucoma and an occasional Motrin for the knee and back pain. I mostly put up with the pain.
I may give in to NyQuil tonight! I am supposed to go to a Ladies VFW Aux. meeting, but am thinking of staying home.

Two nights ago someone dropped off a kitten by our house late at night,( this has been done way too many times!}
Our Choc. Lab barked for at least an hour. Jim finally went to look and there as this little black kitten! Of course Zoie had to chime in which made for a long sleepless night! I have had to pay the animal shelter every time I take these strays in!
Sometimes people suck!!!

OK, I need to get some sleep, I am getting grouchy lol!

Just_Lin said...

Mary Yes, people do suck way too often.

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi..sorry you are still feeling bad, Mary. We have dodged getting sick (knock on wood) around here. My daughter and grandkids seem to pass it around. Maybe you need to go to the dr and be sure you're okay. That's bad about dumping an animal.

JL, I'm still ambitious. I cleaned our coat closet and two drawers in the kitchen and all my dresser drawers. I also typed up an email to Tammy about jewelry, etc., and where this and that are kept. It as kind of sad writing it. I'm nesting but not pregnant. If this snow keeps up, I'll be trapped all day tomorrow so may start work on office paper work..yuck!! I have a 10:15 dr appt but it the snow keeps up they may not even open schools are gradually closing. I was going to lunch with my son buy he already canceled because of the roads. I may get Louis to take me to dr. Oh..I cooked tonight. I made a big pot of chili and it was really good...hit the spot. I think I'll put a roast in the crockpot tomorrow. Yup it's me..Susie Homaker.

Your making me thirsty to drink. Lol. I also like a little amaretto over ice. I'm not much of a drinker but every once in awhile. Is 12:15 AM too late for me to make a drink? Louis would think I've lost my mind!

sacBarb said...

Dianne, One reason I have resorted to have groceries delivered sometimes is because I still have to be careful about how much I lift and it is so nice that they bring it right in the house. They have one hour windows that I can choose for delivery and they have always been closer to the beginning of the hour. The delivery charge is $10 and sometimes they email a coupon for free delivery. The first time I got groceries delivered, I had a tip for the driver and he said they weren't allowed to accept tips. So, it is certainly worth the $10 delivery charge. If I just need a few things, I don't mind going to the store. I don't have to walk around the whole store and I don't have much to carry inside.

sacBarb said...

J/L, When I sign on to the Safeway site, they usually have coupons and I always look at them to see if I need any of that stuff. Well, they had a $7 off coupon for Kahlua and of course I needed it. It was a screamin' deal and almost ready to expire. I should have checked if it was good for more than one bottle. Now it's too late! This was the first time I have ordered alcohol.

sacBarb said...

Dianne 2, Safeway also delivers on the weekend and if you order early enough in the day, they will deliver the same day. So far, I have always ordered late at night for the next day.

sacBarb said...

Mary, That's crappy that someone left that cat. I guess whoever it was knew you would take it to a shelter. Is it a no kill shelter? I hope you are feeling better.

sacBarb said...

Waving a floppy wing to Jodi.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I have a lot of jewelry I never wear. I have 3 regular size jewelry boxes and also a drawer of a dresser is dedicated just to jewelry. Years ago I bought these faux velvet covered jewelry trays that you can put into a drawer to organize jewelry. I still haven't unwrapped them, let alone organized the drawer. It's ridiculous.

You are back on your cooking kick. Is that mostly due to the snowy roads? I saw that pot roasts were on sale yesterday so I bought myself one. I plan to make it tomorrow. Tonight I will meet my friends for dinner.

Just_Lin said...

Barb I had checked my Just4U coupons online with Safeway, too, but nothing there about Kahlua. On the shelf, they said it's usually $24+ but for card members it is $16.99 for one. I think it was less if you bought a few or more. I don't drink often but when I do, I find I sleep really well that night. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Mary Take the Nyquil! You can't get better if you aren't sleeping well at night, giving your body a chance to spend its energy on healing itself rather than coughing.

sacBarb said...

J/L,Maybe it was just the card special. I had a few coupons that I used and I could have forgotten. Anyway, I thought it was a good deal. I don't buy liquor often so maybe it's always that price with the card. The bottle is half gone already. I better slow down or it won't last through the rest of the Bachelor shows. lol

Mary/MI said...

JL, I took NyQuil last night and got some decent sleep. I may have to repeat lol!
I wonder if Kahlua has medicinal qualities :)

Dianne, I am glad you got the snow! We had a bit this morning, turned to rain with thunder and lightening! North of us they got light blizzard conditions.

SacBarb, Home delivery sounds great! It would be impossible for us, as we would be running the hell out of the grocery boy lol!

I just took the NQ and hope for another good nights sleep.

Dianne/Denver said...

Night Mary, have a good sleep tonight and feel better. I took a long nap today.

Our snow ended up being 14" at our place. My dr was working (as schools closed) so Louis took me as the roads were just getting plowed. I had to get an (ouch)cortisone shot in my hand/thumb area. I guess I have arthritis in the X-ray pictures I've been wearing a thumb brace and he gave me a different one to wear. He told me to close my eyes and think of where I wish I was...I told him on a cruise. As the shot continued, I said I'm not on my cruise anymore! We ended up going to Costco as we figured it would be empty and it was very empty. We spent too much. When we came home I was able to talk Louis into helping me clean all the shelves in the laundry room. We have yet another donation bag. I don't think I'll use a quesadilla maker soon in this life.

At least I'll be able to get out tomorrow on my own. I love having this energy lately. I have to hurry and get things done before it goes away.

Barb, I'm sure the stores here deliver but I've never checked into it. I think that's a pretty good price you pay for delivery...esp cislly when u get a coupon. You need to go run across the border and get some Kahlua. I remember when it was $6 for a big bottle there. I wonder what they charge now?

JL, you should organize your jewelry and wear it. You'd probably be surprised of what you have forgotten about after this long. Maybe you'd have some gold to cash in for big bucks!!

I'm getting excited for the game on Sunday. I watch a lot of the news coverage on it. It's even on Nightline. I sure wish we could or would win. Our quarterbacks are so different than each other. It will be fun.

It's cold here tonight...8 degrees

Just_Lin said...

Barb I don't buy alcohol often, either. I've definitely bought more since watching the Bachelor shows along with you. LOL That Kahlua goes down easy, doesn't it? Especially with some heavy cream. I'm making White Russians so there is vodka involved, too. No wonder I sleep better with one or two of those under my belt.

Just_Lin said...

Mary One of the most important ingredients in Nyquil is the alcohol, imho. That's what helps you nod of and get some much needed sleep. I hope you are deep in dreamland as I type this. Get better soon, Lady! You don't want to end up with bronchitis or pneumonia.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne It seems one of your Bronco players was caught up in a prostitution sting at a Motel 6 in San Jose. He wasn't arrested but the team has sent him home. I wonder if he will still get a ring if the Broncos win.

I do come across jewelry on occasion that I totally forgot I had. It's like getting a surprise gift. LOL I don't have much reason to wear jewelry except for my regular rings and I wear my everyday type earrings. My husband liked to buy me jewelry for special occasion gifts so I now have more than I need or use.

It was very handy to have my groceries delivered when I broke my shoulder. It was easy to shop online and they did a good job picking out good looking produce. If I recall correctly, I think delivery was free if the bill was $150 or more. Mine was the first time and then I got a couple of coupons to do it for free additional times. Even when I had to pay, the cost was nominal and worth it to me for the convenience. It was extremely helpful to me.

Dianne/Denver said...

JL, that online shopping would be very helpful when you are not able to carry things. I'll have to look into it just to see what the costs would be here. Oh boy, we've heard about that bronco guy. He's only been on the practice squad since November. Stupid guy. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't get a ring if they win. Some people sure mess up an ideal chance of something good happening.
Oh boy, I used to love White Russians in my single life. My only problem would be if I drank one too many I'd start crying. I still have once very occasionally when I go to my friends house. She used to drink them with me. Now you're making me thirsty at bed time again. You are a bad influence on me. Both you and Barb talking about all this yummy stuff. Im easily influenced!!

Waving a quick wing! Sorry I've been absent. I had a fun "quickie" with LOIS Saturday. I was suppose to have Saturday night, but my Assistant Store Leader texted me Friday night and asked if I would swap Saturday for Monday. He was taking his very pregnant wife to the hospital. She had been dizzy and passed out. When she came to, she couldn't see out of her right eye. Of course I was willing to switch. Made for a very short night. I got the text when I was out with my Aunt Jane and Uncle Kenny. I hadn't seen him in 3 years, so I didn't want to leave right away.

Jodi said...

BARB & SLIN - I hope you are doing well. I best go hoist and rinse! I have a late start at 6 am today and tomorrow.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Give Goldie an extra hug from me. I hope your assistant store leader's wife is okay. That sounds scary.

Mary/MI said...

I'm almost afraid to go to bed tonight! Last night was awful! I almost coughed up a lung! Zoie and I stayed in bed until 2:00 in the afternoon! I told the guys they were getting Goulash and like it lol! They eat anything I cook thank goodness!
I finished the laundry a few minutes ago and unloaded the dishwasher. I may be trying to put off going to bed lol! I may just sleep in the Lazy Boy.

Don't laugh (or judge lol) Yesterday I bought a ticket to see Adam Lambert at our Casino next month. The guy has fascinated me since I saw him on American Idol.

Happy Feb. all!!

Just_Lin said...

Mary I think it's time you go to the doctor. You may need antibiotics at this point or at least some prescription strength cough medicine. Btw, I like Adam Lambert. If I lived by you I'd love to see him with you. I think he's got a great voice.

Dianne/Denver said...

Mary....ITS DR TIME

Mary/MI said...

I'm not much on Drs, I know I have to ride this out and I won't charge
me a dime lol! Our family Dr has consolidated with the big Hospital in Lansing. A lot of them are doing that. Now they not only charge their reg. office fee, but add about the same to the bill for the big name hosp.
We went from BCBS Traditional to their PPO. not sure how that works. I will call and ask tomorrow. I can afford the Visit, but giving them $90 for telling me whqat I already know just grinds my ass!. If I am not better by Mon. I will drag my sorry ass there lol!

Dianne/Denver said...

Mary, you could be getting or have pneumonia. How are you going to twirl tassels Sunday if you're coughing? Ppo is what I now have for my supplement to MEDICARE now. I have to get referrals to any specialist (which all my drs are) but not to primary. It's been kind of a pain since I didn't have to do it on Louis's insurance. Mary, I think I'll skip Adam Lambert ..I don't like that type of music. I'm a country gal.

Monday is our 13th wedding anniversary. My record!! I made dinner reservations at my second favorite steak place. Louis doesn't really like my first one. I made dinner plans for Valentines Day but for Monday instead of Sunday...too crowded. I even made a reservation for us for Easter at yet another place.

Went to lunch with BARBARA Gordon today. We try to get together every month. It's always fun to see her. She's anxiously awaiting the visit in two weeks of her grandson.

Tonight I went to dinner with my youngest granddaughter and then Louis and I went mattress shopping. We needed to replace two queen beds but luckily the place was having Presidents Day sales. We will get them on Tuesday.

Jodi, just wanted to say hi. Was checking on you. I know you are one busy lady!! Now..important. Do you have you equipment reading to wear for the Super Bowl?

Barb and JL..can I count on you both for tassel swinging Sunday? Come on Barb, just this one time?

Tomorrow is orange Friday in Denver. Our town is going Bronco crazy right now. If ,,I mean ..WHEN we win they will really be going nuts.

It's chilly here but no snow yet. Good!!

Just_Lin said...

Mary Like you, I tend to bite the bullet as long as I can when I am sick or in pain before I will consult a doctor about it. It has not always been the wisest thing to do. You'd drop that money at a casino easily so just go see the damn doctor. :)

Just_Lin said...

Dianne How fun that you will be celebrating your 13th anniversary. You have been busy making dinner reservations it seems. Smart of you to have your Valentines Day dinner a day late. Wow, and you're already thinking about Easter. You are very organized lately.

Did you test out a lot of mattresses before you made your choices? Mattresses are a big purchase so it's good that you got them on sale.

I plan to be swinging tassels for the Broncos on Sunday. It looks like the people attending the events at Super Bowl City are having a good time. I saw on the news that they had the Clydesdale horses going down the street today.

Dianne/Denver said...

JL, thanks for ironing your tassels and getting them ready. I wonder if Jodi already has hers on? Yes, I tried the mattresses out. Between us girls..Louis got all comfy and plopped down like he was going to sleep and gas leaked out right in front of the salesman!!! Boy, I'm glad it was him and not me. How embarrassing. The young salesman just made a little guy joke. Again, glad it wasn't me!

The news and extra sport shows look like lots of fun in SF. Our players said they were glad today was the last media day and they can get down to football now. I sure hope so. If things get bad you and Barb are going to have to be sending me shots of your drink of choice for the day.

Jodi said...

SLIN - She is ok. She had to rest all weekend, but is fine now. I don't think that it helps that she works 10 hour days. And as for GOLDIE, we rescheduled for next Thursday. She wasn't feeling well yesterday.

Jodi said...

MARY - Take care you!!!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - How fun to have lunch with BARBinWAviaCO!!! I wished we all lived closer. Lunch, movies, and so much more!!! And yes, I have all the "equipment" ready for the game GO BRONCOS!!!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - p.s. Congrats on 13 years! That is awesome ♥

Jodi said...

Best hoist and rinse! I have a haircut appt after work today. The wings are outta control!! lol! Have a great day HOoters ♥

Jodi said...

I know it's Super Bowl weekend, but do you have any other plans? I work tomorrow, but have Sunday off. Alex (my old boss) asked me to be his partner in a bowling tournament tomorrow. It's a fundraiser for the Humane Society and for a local animal rescue. It's a Scottish Doubles/9 pin tap tournament. Should be fun!!

Mary/MI said...

Jodi, I sure miss bowling. The last time I bowled was over 12 yrs ago, right after I heard a *pop* in my knee and pain shooting soon after! Have fun!!
We have no set plans for Sunday. We used to go to an annual Superbowl party at a local hunting and fishing club. Our friend who used to run it passed away a few years back and it hasn't been the same since. I am hoping for some good football numbers in my pool! :)

JL,I am still congested but feeling better, I have been taking Motrin PM and sleeping pretty good.
Dianne, I am so excited for you and your Broncs! I will be watching and swinging my tattered tassels lol!!

Where's Barb? Dipping too much in the Kahlua? You're supposed to wait until game day Barb lol!!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Other than watching the game on Sunday, all my plans seem to revolve around food. I plan on making a big batch of chili and also hope to make fudge and cookies for Valentines Day.

Bowling is fun. I wish I could still do it but between the back problems and the fact that my mended broken shoulder will never really be 100%, it's just a thing of the past for me.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I'm glad you're feeling better and able to get some sleep. That's really important. I wish those men of yours would cook for you for a change and give you a break.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne The story about Louis is hilarious! Just goes to show he's a real human and not a robot. LOL

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi.....well, as you all can imagine...we are beyond excited right now. Today was orange Friday so wore bronco earrings, bronco bracelet, orange shirt. I had my nails done and one on each hand is a Bronco one. I'll get it changed (maybe) next week. We are going to a party at a friends. I've already got a lot of food to take.

Tomorrow I'm going to lunch with an old co worker I haven't seen for a long time. Then my other Barb friend and I are going to the movie to see The Choice and grab some dinner afterwards. I'm recording the debate and a super bowl show. I watched a really good one tonight for a couple of hours about all the half time entertainment over the years back quite some time ago. It was fun to remember and see Michael Jackson, etc.

Mary, I'm sure glad you are sleeping and feeling better. I was getting worried about you. I'm glad you have those tassels ready. Please send a picture!!

Jodi, sounds like you have a fun weekend planned. Have fun bowling I used to years ago..even had my own ball!! Long time ago!!

Well the hospital j had my bladder thing done has now come out about a guy that worked there that took needles and who knows what but anyone that had surgery there is a four month span has to be tested for HIV, Hepititus. I called my dr today and she said my thing was done in the OB section and that part wasn't affected. If it was, letters are going out but they didn't think so. DAMN SCARY!!

Barb, where are you? I was thinking what Mary was thinking, leave some Kaluah for Sunday.

Jodi said...

MARY - Glad you are able to get some rest and starting to feel better!!

Jodi said...

SLIN - Chili is so good this time of year! I'm making chili dip for the big game on Sunday.

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Loved the pic of your nails on FB! GO BRONCOS! Omg....I'm glad you weren't exposed at the hospital. Scary, indeed!

Jodi said...

BARB - What MARY and DIANNE said! But what the heck....bottoms up!!!

sacBarb said...

Here I am. I wasn't drinking, but I was thinking about it. I'm rationing the Kahlua to make it last through the end of the Bachelor season! Not sure if I got a big enough bottle for that. LOL I got the smaller bottle thinking it would last - shoulda got the bigger one!

J/L, I've been making white Russians also. They are so good!

Dianne, OMG That is so scary about the hospital. I hope your Dr. was right and it didn't affect you.

Mary, If you are still coughing at night, have you tried putting Vick's Vapo Rub on the bottom of your feet and sleep with socks on? That really helps.

Jodi, We have a lot of our family celebrations at the Cheesecake Factory. They have good food, but the menu is so big (it reads like a novel) it's hard to decide what to order. Give Heidi an extra hug from me, too. I hope she's doing OK and I hope Matt is OK, too.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I don't even know what time the game is. I guess I better find out if I'm going to be twirling tassels for your team.

Just_Lin said...

Barb I bought the bigger bottle of Kahlua and it's a good thing I did. LOL Maybe that's what I should make myself right now....a White Russian. Today I made a big batch of fudge, a big pot of chili, and about 100 little heart shaped Spritz cookies; half are pink and half are chocolate. I am exhausted! I don't know how Mary does all that cooking all the time. My back is not happy right now, either. Maybe a drink would help. :)

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Waving my tired wing at you.

Jodi said...

BARB - I think I best look at their menu online! Will do....I know GOLDIE will appreciate a squeeze from you!

Jodi said...

SLIN - Waving back!!! I guess day drinking and bowling really took it out of me yesterday. I wanted to go watch a band at Badger Bowl last night. When I got home from the fundraiser, I laid down and set an alarm, but when it went off, Paul said I turned it off and rolled over and went back to sleep!!! I guess I needed the rest!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - All set for the big game! After breakfast we went to Wal-Mart to look for a new small crock pot for my chili dip, but they didn't have any of the size I wanted. We ended up finding one at Menard's! I guess I could've just microwaved the dip, but I like having it in a crock pot. I had the crock on my other one about a month ago. I've got my blue and orange on today. GO BRONCOS!!!

Just_Lin said...

I have banana nut bread baking in the oven. I'm turning into a regular Betty Crocker. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Congratulations to your Broncos! I guess all the tassel swinging worked.

Dianne/Denver said...

WE WON! I'm so excited that I can hardly stand it. We went to a good party and I didn't want to come home. I would have liked to go downtown but that's a little dangerous after a big win. I was edge of my seat through the whole game. Guess the Panthers shouldn't have done all that smack talking. Our defense won it! I already ordered a hat and new shirt for Louis. Thanks everyone for swinging your tassels. Go get them cleaned and put them away for next year.

Jodi said...

SLIN - Better Crocker, indeed! Love banana bread!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Good game, and you're right, that defense was awesome!! Did you seem poor Cam throw himself down on the ground near the end of the game? What a sweet win for Manning! Do you think this will be his last?

Just_Lin said...

HOdi I saw Cam throw himself on the ground like a child throwing a tantrum. He didn't act much better in a interview afterwards. The kid needs to learn how to face loss as well as a win. Time for him to "man up".

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Happy Anniversary to you and Louis. What is one supposed to get for a 13th anniversary. A black cat? LOL Oh, I just looked it up. It is supposed to be lace. Well, I guess sexy lingerie for you would be a gift for you AND a gift for Louis. :)

Dianne/Denver said...

JL, thanks for the good wishes. I think Louis and I are past the part of our life for lace..but I still remember those days many many years ago!! We went out for a nice dinner to a nice steak place tonight. It's really a romantic adult place. A couple came in with three kids about 6,2, and 9 mos that screamed the whole time. The 2 yr old wasn't much better. The mother nursed the baby and that worked for abut 15 min. It really wasn't fun. It's a rather small place too. The dad finally took the baby and the two year old out after about an hour and then the mom ate her dinner. Very disruptive to other couples there. The food was good though.

Yes JL and Jodi, Cam was a big baby. He's a good player but he'd better grow up, if he's going to be in the NFL. He's now saying the refs made them lose the game. We've all been there ...you're right....man up.

Jodi, I hope Peyton retires and from the Broncos not the Colts that fired him. It's time for him to do something else in the world of football. He's had a great career. His mom wants him to retire. I don't want him to be like Bret was going to different teams. We shall see.

Tomorrow is the big parade..I wish it could go. It will be packed. I've been before and it was so much fun. Id probably get run over with people now.

So JL, you're turning into Betty Crocker? I was doing that last week but not so much this week.

I went to get a prescription today and my 30 day co pay is $295 generic!!! The brand name is the same cost. Stupid. I didn't get it and now I'm going to have to change meds or just stop it. I don't think MEDICARE should dictate that for people.

Well, guess I will go give Louis his presents. I got him two Bronco shirts and a gift card to a shooting range he goes to. He will be happy with it. I've ordered him the new Super Bowl shirt and hat for Valentines Day.

Mary/MI said...

Dianne, I was so happy for you and your Broncs! I wish I knew the feeling lol! Lions just can't seem to get their act together! I am ready for baseball!
On a good note, I won 3 quarters in the football pool!

Jodi, I am glad you let your body recover! It never hurts to kick the clock to the curb lol! I have been enjoying all the Hawaiian memorial pics on FB! It sure was fun being there with my Ho s.

JL,I love nanna bread! I swear I can smell it all the way to Michigan! I made home made tortillas for burritos and made some Spanish rice. It may be "take out" for tomorrow!

Barb, I didn't know the Cheese Factory s had restaurants. How fun! I wonder if we h ave any here. I will have to Google!
I am feeling a lot better. Still a bit of nasty mucus hanging around! I will try the Vicks thing tonight. I took a hot sauna yesterday and it seem to help.

Mary/MI said...

"Nanna bread?" LOL!!!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne That's an expensive prescription. It doesn't make sense that generic would be the same as the brand name. Do you have prescription coverage through Medicare? Also, call around to different pharmacies. You may get different prices. Also, go online and check with the maker of the Rx. Sometimes they have online coupons.

It sounds like your anniversary dinner wasn't very romantic with the crying, noisy kids. I'm glad the food was good, at least.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I don't want to be baking any nannas. LOL

The sauna would be helpful to breaking that mucus up in your lungs. Take advantage of that.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, congrats to the Broncos. It was disappointing to see Cam behave like a spoiled child. I can understand him being upset cause they lost, but he screwed up quite a bit himself, so he can't blame it all on the rest of the team or the refs.

sacBarb said...

J/L, I baked some cookies the other day. They were Toll House frozen dough. I like them because I don't have to bake a big batch. I usually only bake 2 or 4 and that way I don't have a bunch tempting me. I have almost zero willpower!

sacBarb said...

Mary, the Cheesecake Factiry has good food and their cheesecake portions are enough for two people. The biggest problem is deciding what kind to get. I hope the Vicks works for your coughing. It worked for me.

sacBarb said...

Waving a floppy wing to Jodi.

Dianne/Denver said...

Hello...BARB, there's a part of Inside Edition tonight about being afraid of driving over a bridge. I forget the word it is called. I thought of you. The lady is trying to overcome her fear. Interesting.

Well, there was a huge parade of actually a million people today. My granddaughter went and said it was fun. I watched it all on TV. It made me wish I could be there but at least it was on TV. We have a few Cheesecake Factory restaurants here. I haven't been for some time. I know the portions are very large. One just opened about five minutes from our house but it's too crowded right now.

JL, yes I have a supplement for the drugs. The pharmacy had the dr send a form to the insurance so I think it might get lowered. We shall see. I will go online though and see what it says.

Hmm. Lots of talk of Beyonce's Super Bowl performance. I couldn't understand the words at the time of the performance.

Tomorrow is good ole WW and I'm not looking forward to it after Super Bowl food. I feel "lumpy".

Mary, glad you are better...keep working on it and resting. Glad you won some money. You are so lucky!! We were in a pool too but didn't win a cent.

Took my granddaughters to dinner tonight and Kayla talked me into letting her boyfriend come along. I won't do that again for a long time. No one talks to me. I feel like I'm eating alone and there to pay the bill. I look forward to my weekly dinner with them.

Jodi.....hi.

sacBarb said...

Hi Dianne. The Cheesecake Factory is always crowded here and they don't take reservations, even for a big group. But the staff is friendly and always get people in as soon as they can. I really like going there because I can always take home enough for at least one more meal and then there's the cheesecake. They have so many different kinds but I like my cheesecake unadulterated! I have tried some of the others, but I like the plain best. Talking about it makes me want to go there again soon.

I know what you mean about going out to eat with some family and they get caught up in a conversation that doesn't include me or they are paying attention to their devices. I'm just there to pay the check! It's really disappointing!

sacBarb said...

J/L, I baked some of the frozen cookie dough tonight. Talking about it made me hungry for cookies.

I have been watching the New Hampshire voting results and I was so hoping that Trump wouldn't win there. Now we have to listen to his blustering about his win and how he wants to make America great! However, he really hasn't said hoe he plans to do that except to build a wall to keep out illegal immigrants and have Mexico pay for it! UGH!

sacBarb said...

Mary, you are so lucky. My Hubby belonged to a football pool that cost $120 to get in. It was a group of his golfing buddies and they paid $10 per month the whole year before the game. He died in April and had paid for three months already and I told the guys I would continue in the pool for him. I won $750 that year and I couldn't believe it. I figure he had something to do with it. They had several ways to win different amounts of money. I continued in the pool for two more years and I won something every year, but never that much. The fourth year I got a call from the guy that held the money each year and he told me they were folding the pool. I was never sure if they really quit or they just told me that because I won so many times. Anyway, I have never been that lucky with any other betting or game playing ever again. :(

Just_Lin said...

Barb I like the Toll House frozen cookie dough, too. Like you said, it's so handy to just be able to make a few at a time. Perfect for us folks that live alone. That reminds me, I need to add that to my shopping list.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your dinner with the kids as much as you could have. I guess it's just best to keep it between you and the girls.

Last weekend when I was preparing to make a bunch of little cookies, I decided to get down three extra cookie cooling racks from high in the cupboard above the refrigerator. I had to stand on a little stool to reach the very top shelf where they were stacked on top of a couple of other things. Well, I started pulling them down when suddenly one of them slid forward and flew out and hit me on the forehead. Boy, was I surprised! I don't have a lump but it is sore there when I touch it. I guess that means that kitchens are dangerous places so maybe you are right to not spend a whole lot of time there. :)

sacBarb said...

J/L, Don't you know that most home accidents happen in the kitchen? I have a cut on my finger from fixing dinner. Just the universe telling me, once again, not to cook! I'm sorry, but the visual of this pan falling out of the cupboard and hitting your forehead made me LOL. Before I got the new cabinet built, I had one that had pans stuffed in it and I had to open it very carefully to keep them from falling out. P.S. I keep a stool in almost every room in the house because anything above the first shelf is unreachable without getting on it.

Mary/MI said...

JusL, my son thinks I set boobie traps for him when things go flying lol! I keep the cookie sheets and pizza pans all on the top shelf sitting on a rack. I have had them go crashing to the floor and scare the bajesus out of Zoie!

SacBarb, I have step stools all over the house too lol! Even in my bedroom by the closet so I can reach the top shelf. I also keep a few of those "arm extender-grabber thingys" close by especially by my washing machine. I nearly have to dive into the tub to retrieve small things like socks.

I had lunch with my old co-workers today. No one takes their phones out until after lunch unless it is to show a picture. Today I had to answer my phone because my son called. He new I was at lunch so I knew it had to be important. He was panicking because he got a robo call telling him him to call back for an interview fo a job he has been waiting for from General Motors. He was not near a pencil or pen and didn't get the number. The dam robo didn't repeat it! Being an awesome Mom that I am I got on FB to the workers web sight and asked for help in getting the number. It's a private group that I belong to. In less than 5 minutes someone put up the number so I was able to get it to my son. He goes in for an interview Monday. Her has another interview tomorrow for another job. He said, "Mom, first I can't get anyonE to get back with me on my resumes' and now I mam getting them all in one week' LOL!

Dianne/Denver said...

Mary, very exciting for your son. I hope he gets the job he wants the most. Looks like he might follow in your footsteps. I had one of those calls yesterday from my pre approval insurance yesterday. Lucky I was able to get the number off of caller ID. Well, I don't have any step stools in my rooms and I've shrunk from 5'10" to 5'8".

Barb, wow those were some good football pools. I think they thought you were getting too much money. Lol.

I've been telling you gals for years to stay out of the kitchen for cooking. Maybe now you will believe me. Mary, there is no hope to get you out of the kitchen!! :)

JL, I hope your head is better. I'm not a cookie maker although I won a ribbon in 4-H for my cookies many many years ago. I'll bet that surprises all of you. I wish I knew where it was as no one believes me.

I'm watching a special recap Bronco show. Just can't get enough. Boring weekends ahead without football.

Yum, let's all meet half way in Denver and go to The Cheesecake Factory. You're making me hungry.

Just_Lin said...

Barb If I would have seen me from a different perspective when that cooling rack flew out and hit me, I would have laughed, too. I have a couple of racks in a more convenient cupboard along with my cookie sheets but these extra racks were up high where I keep my cookie press which I normally only use once a year at Christmas.

Just_Lin said...

Mary Wishing your son good luck with the job interviews. As the old saying goes; when it rains, it pours.

I had to laugh at the image of you leaning into the washing machine. :)

Just_Lin said...

Dianne You will have to find something else to occupy you now that football is over for the year. Maybe you could take a baking class. ;) You were in 4H? Did you have to raise an animal and show it at the fair? I was in Girl Scouts. In those days, it was still safe to sell cookies door to door. Of course, that was only around my own neighborhood.

Jodi said...

Good morning HOoters! Bowling was fun Monday night. I actually got my average! 109, 116 and 102. Alex and Drew picked me up. It's kind of a drive and we got some snow, so it's nice to let the young en's drive!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Too bad you had to deal with those kids at your dinner. We took the kids with us often when they were little. Thankfully they were well behaved out in public! How exciting for your granddaughter to be able to go to the parade! How did WW go this week?

Jodi said...

BARB - I looked up the menu for Cheesecake Factory. Holy crap!!! I still don't know what I want. So many choices! We are meeting GOLDIE at 5 pm today, so hopefully it's not too crowded at that time.

Jodi said...

SLIN - How is your bump? I made a big roast pork dinner yesterday. Sam brought home a bone in roast from her store. It was 50% off. The dang thing was so big that I had to use a roaster cover on my crock pot until it had softened up and fit inside it all the way. I paired the roast with garlic smashed potatoes and carrots. Thankfully without incident ;)

Jodi said...

MARY - Congrats to your son! Did the Vicks trick help? We've had frigid weather this week. High's in the teens and below zero wind chills. I'm ready for spring!!!

sacBarb said...

Mary, I have stools in all the bedrooms too. I got a new washer and dryer about four years ago and I got a front loader washer for the same reason. To reach the bottom of the old washer, I had to lean over so far that my feet were off the floor. I also got the drawers that go under both of them to lift them both up so I don't have to bend over so far to get the clothes out. I never had those grabber thingies until I had the back surgery. Since I couldn't bend over, Chad ordered three of them from Amazon and they really do come in handy when I drop something. They are also placed strategically all over the house too.

Good luck to your son on his interviews. I hope he gets the job he wants.

sacBarb said...

J/L, I was a Girl Scout too and sold cookies door to door. Back then, soooo long ago, they were only 50 cents a box and we only had the original cookies. Also, there were a LOT more cookies in the box than they have now! Our troop used to get 35 cents for each box and the rest went to the GS Headquarters. Things were so much simpler then! :)

sacBarb said...

Jodi, I told you that menu reads like a novel! I hope it wasn't too crowded for you, but 5:00 here is usually very crowded. Congratz on your bowling scores.

Jodi said...

125!

Jodi said...

BARB - I know you probably read my post before you went to bed, but it's my today! Ha!!!

Mary/MI said...

Geeze I really should proof read my posts!"knew-new".

Jodi, Thank goodness we have all recovered from our colds and congestion! the vicks-in-the-socks may have helped :) You sure make me wish I was bowling again! It was a fun time!

Dianne, a blue ribbon for cookies!! You must have a picture somewhere!(not that I don't believe you ;-} )

SacBarb and JL, Do you have any pics of you in your Girl Scout uniforms (not that I ..._ lol! JK, I believe you! I was a Brownie and Girl Scout. I wish I had pics of that! The scouts introduced me to camping. I had never been before. It was a time I cherish!

Time to cook supper. Nothing fancy tonight. Just burgers & Mac n cheese. Tomorrow is pizza night so I am covered for a bit lol!

Jodi said...

MARY - I'm glad you're feeling better! I know I'll be better when it warms up some. Let's just say I'm so over winter!

Jodi said...

Dinner was wonderful with GOLDIE and Aunt Jane. GOLDIE gave me a pin that Inge picked out for me. It's a beautiful butterfly and I will cherish it always. Good grief. I'm stuffed, and I brought home half of my sandwich and my cheesecake. I picked out a yummy lemon raspberry cheesecake. It looks amazing! I'm saving it for my afternoon coffee tomorrow.

Jodi said...

Just after I picked up Jane, I got a call from Jake. The trainer decided that he has a concussion. He got kicked in the back of the head during practice yesterday. I made an appointment for him tomorrow afternoon with his dr. Regionals are Saturday, but he is done for the season. It's always something with that kid.....

sacBarb said...

Jodi, Glad you had a nice time with Goldie and Aunt Jane. I have never been able to eat the cheesecake in one sitting. The pieces are huge! BTW, how is Matt doing? Is he still in the hospital?

Mary/MI said...

Jodi, I hope it's nothing too bad. You can't be too careful with concussions!
btw, a cheesecake would never last the night at my house. I would have to hide it waaaay back somewhere lol!!!

Jodi said...

BARB - Matt is home. On Monday he goes back to the UM for another sit down with the dr and surgeon. He works 7 on, and 7 off. During his time off he gets pain meds (I remember her saying delaudid *sp?*), but when he is working, he just has to deal with it.

Jodi said...

MARY - The trainer said he is at the low end of the scale for concussions. I think he said 1. I guess we'll learn more tomorrow. I did have a couple of bites before bed. I hope the rest is this there when I want my afternoon coffee!!

Jodi said...

Is this there? Oh, boy.....shouldn't have posted before my first cup of cawfee!! lol!

sacBarb said...

Jodi, I'm sure Jake is disappointed about being out for the rest of the season, but you need to be so careful when dealing with a concussion.

sacBarb said...

Jodi2, I pray Matt can get permanent relief from his pain.

HOdi I'm sorry to hear about Jake's concussion. That other kid must have really kicked him hard. My grandson got a concussion this past football season. It's definitely a concern.

I haven't had cheesecake in a while. I like it plain or maybe with strawberries. Also, my mother used to make one with a lemon glaze on top that was excellent.

Barb Back in our scouting days of selling cookies door to door, it never seemed to occur to anyone that there might be a pedophile or murderer living in the neighborhood. Also, we weren't expected to sell as many boxes as they do now. It's become a much bigger enterprise than it used to be.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I do have a newspaper clipping from my hometown newspaper of me and a few other troop members singing Christmas carols. We are pretty young in it. I would have to dig it out to look at our uniforms as we may have still been Brownies.

That is amazing about that blade crashing through your house and into your office! Thank goodness no one was in that room at the time. Did the debris ruin your computer or keyboard?

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Where are you? Are you still recovering from celebrating the Bronco win?

Just_Lin said...

Barb2 Did I forget to mention that Duncan Hines has a cake mix that comes with frosting mix and its own little disposable 6 inch pan? Perfect for us single ladies. You just need butter and eggs. I'm treating myself on Valentines Day by making a little yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The mixes are on sale at Safeway right now for 2 for $5.00.

Dianne2 That would be a handy size cake for you and Louis, too. When you're done you just throw away the pan.

J/L, I went to Catholic school and we sold things door to door often, mainly raffle tickets. We never considered that any of our neighbors were anything but nice, decent people. Of course, we knew most, if not all, of them. Our families spent a lot of time outside visiting with each other and never gave a thought about it not being safe for kids. Of course we didn't have all the different media sources of today to inform us about pedophiles.

I'll check out those cake mixes at Safeway. Sounds perfect.

Mary, I bet you were shocked when you got home from the hairdresser or did you already know about it? I hope you can get things back to 'normal' in short order. This might give you an opportunity to do a little remodeling. (Glass half full) I hope they add a little extra $$ for the trauma you and the family had to endure. I'm so glad that you and Jim and your son are OK. <3

sacBarb said...

Jodi, How's Jake doing? All my boys were into every sport of the season, and each of them had their share of bumps on the head, some of which were more serious than others. It's such a worry for parents. With all the information that has come out recently about concussions, I'm just glad I don't have to make the decision of allowing them to play or not!

sacBarb said...

Dianne, What are you doing with your Sundays now that football is over?

Mary/MI said...

ok, I am having trouble with the "SacBarb2 and Jodi2 lol. Is there another jodi in here?

I have been pretty busy trying to get my office cleaned and cleared. A guy is coming Monday to look at the hole in our wall. We had to throw out my big file cabinet/storage unit. The blade hit the side so hard it knocked all the studs that held it together on the side. I had my laptop in sideways in the files part and the blade cut the end of it along the way tearing into my little tv and messing up my printer with all the flying debris. We picked up all three at Best Buy today. I will wait until the wall is fixed and new window put in(broke the corner of the frame)before I pick out a new file/storage piece.Of course the room will have to be painted, which I have been wanting to do anyway! Not sure what to do about the carpet. It is so saturated with the dust and debris, not sure I want it! I have been wanting to replace it :)
I know one thing for sure, not all pictures/knick knacks/books etc., are going back in lol! Wow, I have no idea where it all came from!

Here I am..I've just been enjoying our Spring like weather. I wish it would last. It's supposed to be nice for the next week. It is as 67 today but windy tonight. We stayed home as we knew the crowds would be bad tonight anywhere. I kind of wish Louis would have made reservations somewhere. We are going to Pappaddauxs (sp) on Monday to celebrate. We will go early before the rush starts.

We had to get our light in the kitchen fixed today to the tune of $180. I think that was too much but Louis can't climb up a ladder anymore plus he wouldn't have known how to fix it. It's hard to find a good handyman. We've had one that charges reasonable but he's not reliable. He didn't show up this time because he told me his wife is having an affair. Last week he didn't show up because she was having seizures and the week before because he had to put his cat down. Needless to say, we've changed guys.

Mary, I'm so glad you're ok. What a scary thing to happen. So glad no one was in the room. I'd get all the new work done after that mess!! Terrible freak accident.

Jodi, how's Jake doing? Hope he's better. Sorry it has to miss the weekend events. So worrisome with these boys. I worry about my grandsons too. They all love sports so much to play. Did you do anything for Valentines Day?

JL, I bought one of those little cakes but haven't made it yet. Heck, just used my stove for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I need to make it. Let me know how it turns out. It's a great little size.

Barb, I don't know what to do without the Broncos playing on Sunday. My friend Barb and I usually meet for lunch and a movie if we can find anything. We tried for tomorrow but are ending up just meeting for lunch. She'll be my Valentine.

I did get some Super Bowl things for Louis for tomorrow. The hat arrived today.

Just_Lin said...

Mary The 2 is added when I already addressed a comment to someone but forgot to mention something so had to write a follow-up.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I did already bake one of those little cakes and it came out really well. Maybe you could make yours for you two as a Valentine treat.

Dianne/Denver said...

JL, no eggs

Just_Lin said...

Dianne That's too bad that you don't have the eggs. I woke up with a cold and my throat is absolutely killing me! I may have to scratch my plan to make myself a little filet mignon dinner but I will still make myself the little cake. I do have my priorities. LOL

Happy Valentin's Day!

Mary/MI said...

OK, I confess, I am getting overwhelmed with all that has to be done! My spare room looks like I'm a hoarder, with all the things from my office! Am I supposed to keep track of all the time we are working on the room, such as vacuuming, moving and cleaning things etc.? I hate paying out of pocket until we are reimbursed! I may hire a lawyer to give me advice about some kind of compensation other than the repairs. I feel guilty asking for it, but I am going to do it anyway!

It all seems so trivial after finding out a good friend of ours lost his house in a fire the same night! Luckily he and his dog got out in time. It was around midnight. He lost his wife to cancer about 8 yrs ago. A few months after she died his beautiful daughter was diagnosed with cancer. She went through hell, but in the end she got a donor from Germany to donate platelets for her bone cancer and is now doing well with her twin sons and daughter, now this, the home she was raised in! She just put on Facebook that she found a box of letters her Mother wrote her laying just outside the bedroom window unscathed!

The same dam day, my Niece Raquel was taken to the hospital bleeding profusely from her rectum! She was released the next day without knowing the answer. She will be getting more tests run Monday. Oye Vey! What a Friday it was!!

Just_Lin said...

Mary Don't feel guilty asking for compensation for clean up. Do you have homeowner's insurance? Perhaps that would cover everything, including all time and expenses, and they would deal with insurance company for the other party.

You sure have a lot going on right now. I hope Raquel finds the answers with the follow up tests.

Dianne/Denver said...

Mary, they need to compensate you for all the work you have to do cleaning up and the undo stress of the whole mess. I agree with JL..don't feel bad about it. I'm still just so glad you are all okay. I'm sorry so much hard stuff is going on for you. It's frustrating. I hope your niece will be okay.

JL, so sorry you are feeling bad. Beautiful flowers your son sent you. How thoughtful of him to do that for you. Did you end up making your cake? I'll get eggs next time I go to store. We still have a lot of sweets around here...too many. I gave a little candy to Louis with Super Bowl things today. He gave me flowers and jewelry. I always love that for presents. I did mention to him I'd like some Mounds little bars but no luck. Just as well so maybe I can get back on the losing track at WW this week.

Hello barb and Jodi...thinking about you both.

sacBarb said...

Mary, i agree with J/L. You shouldn't feel guilty about asking for compensation. You wouldn't have to do all this if that blade hadn't done all that damage. The people doing that work should have been more diligent in checking their equipment. Plus, it seems they didn't even try to find out where it went if your son had to chase them down. That is pure and simple neglect. Besides, they should have insurance that covers it for them. Be sure to take pictures of anything you throw out and keep good records of all the damage.

I am so sorry to hear about Raquel. I hope they can determine what is wrong and that it isn't serious. She is such a sweet girl. I will keep her in my prayers.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne My throat feels better tonight but I'm having major sneezing fits. It was nice of my son and his girlfriend to send me flowers. Apparently, chocolate covered strawberries were supposed to arrive with the flowers but that didn't happen. They are very upset about that. I just want them to get their money back.

Just_Lin said...

Barb More bachelor drama tomorrow night. I look forward to it. LOL

Just_Lin said...

I'm coughing, coughing, and coughing. What's everyone else doing?

Dianne/Denver said...

I went to dinner with my niece tonight. I love spending time with her. I had my car washed, went to dr, had lunch with my son, dropped some watches off I need expanded and got gas. I was busy today. 2-1/2 hours at bladder dr. My surgery isn't working so great like the trial was working. I met with dr and representative from place today and had my little programmer reprogrammed to see if we can get implant to work. Otherwise, I might have to have it taken out and put in other butt cheek. I'm sure hoping it doesn't come to that especially since I'm now on Medicare. Who knows if they'd even pay plus I don't want to do it!!

Interesting thing to show you how ins and pharmacy drugs are rip off. I have a pill I take that the copay is $295 a month. I called dr and said I'll have to change as can't pay it. They sent in a letter for an exception and it was denied. The very helpful girl at dr office said, "oh no. We won't accept that answer". She sent in another expedited letter and it was approved and I got the drug for $8 co pay!!! I'm so happy and can't believe it. It's an $800 drug.

Hope you quit coughing JL. Are you taking something for it? Be careful it doesn't get worse. Remember the advice you gave to Mary last week.

sacBarb said...

J/L, have you tried to put Vick's Vapo Rub on the bottom of your feet at night for your coughing? You can do it during the day, too, but you have to repeat it because walking rubs it off. It really does work.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I'm so sorry the surgery isn't working. I hope they can get it programmed so you don't have to go through the surgery again. I'll say a prayer that it works.

sacBarb said...

Mary, How's the clean-up going? I hope you are getting help getting all that done. I hope Raquel is doing better.

Dianne/Denver said...

Barb..THANKS I appreciate that prayer

Just_Lin said...

Barb Thanks for the tip but I don't have any Vicks and have no plans to make myself presentable enough to go out to get some. Fortunately, my lungs seem to be pretty clear. It's all this nasal congestion that is making me cough. The coughing then gives me a headache and I'm starting to get whiny about the whole thing.

We've had beautiful weather lately but now we have dark clouds and we're supposed to get some showers.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I'm sorry you aren't getting the desired result from that implant. I hope the reprogramming works for you.

Well, that is really great that you were able to get the cost of your prescription reduced. That's a really big difference. And you're right. The game is rigged. There is no reason for that to cost hundred of dollars and if you were in a different country, it wouldn't. It is capitalism run amok. It is greed, plain and simple.

Just_Lin said...

Barb2 I lied! I just searched some first aid stuff I have in the hall closet and I found an old jar of Vicks. I may try it today after my shower. I don't think I will do it at night because it drives me nuts to have socks on in bed as my feet get too hot. That reminds me......I couldn't find my slippers yesterday afternoon for quite a while. Apparently, I had climbed into bed for a nap while still wearing them. I discovered them under the covers. LOL

sacBarb said...

J/L, You could try the Vicks at night and not wear the socks. I think the socks are just to keep it on you feet longer. LOL at finding your slippers under the covers. I've done that with the fuzzy socks I wear instead of slippers.

Just_Lin said...

Barb The Vicks is an interesting idea but even as far away as being on my feet and with socks on, it is wreaking havoc with my asthma every time I get a whiff, causing coughing attacks. :(

sacBarb said...

Oh no! Well, scratch that!! Sorry. The idea is less to smell it than for the properties in it to take effect on the areas of the feet that control the coughing. I don't know anyone that has asthma that has used it, but it works for non-asthma sufferers.

Mary/MI said...

Hi there!

Barb,I have been busy as you have guessed. I had to empty the part of the room where the work will be done, and of course the filing cabinet/computer furniture piece. It was big and heavy. The force of the blade busted the pegs/studs that were holding it together. I looked for something close to it, but couldn't find anything I liked. More hunting next week.
We are waiting for the guy who is putting together an estimate. He will be doing the work. He did my kitchen and stairway rail. He is very good. Thank goodness his business is slow right now!

Dianne, I am so sorry about your hiney thingy! I had a small idea of how you must be feeling last week! With all the coughing I did, my bladder must have dropped or whatever it did. I had tremendous pressure! I had to pee AFTER I peed A LOT! Thank goodness all is back to normal!

Justlin, sadly the dam crap has to run its course! All you can do is all the boring things like drinking plenty of fluids, eating soup, etc. I took a hot sauna. I also took some Motrin. I figured it was an anti-inflammatory, so what the heck, it couldn't hurt! It did seem to help. A lot of people have the nasty crud! Asthma sucks too :(

Hodi, where are you?

Dianne/Denver said...

Well, today was a day from hell. My oldest (17) granddaughter has been seeing a guy for a month now and he is not good for her. It has reached a head this week with her parents. Long story short...she climbed out her window, jumped off the roof and left a note and was gone. It was so scary and heartbreaking. Her dad was at the boys place where he lives with grandparents right away. The school and police got involved looking for them. I finally sent her a text telling her how worried I was, how much I love her and reminded her how close we are to each other. I received a response! She kept texting with me and finally called her dad to come get her. She was sitting in a Police Car at the psrk when they got there. She's now home and safe. She talked to my daughter and SIL calmly tonight and I think she's back to thinking rationally for now. It was the most frightening experience as it got darker. I was going to theater tonight but canceled as I couldn't sit there not knowing where she was... I thank GOD for sending her home. I'm going to dinner with her tomorrow night to talk. We love each other a lot so I am so glad she answered my text. She is my first grandchild.

That's it... Long day

Just_Lin said...

Barb I am up before the sun today and that is not acceptable. I had to get up to take more cold medicine as I couldn't stop coughing. At least I got about 5 hours of sleep. I'm supposed to meet former co-workers for breakfast on Sunday but if I'm not hugely better by tomorrow, I will cancel. I made it through Safeway yesterday without embarrassing myself too much but only because i was sucking on cough drops non-stop. This is exhausting.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I hope you have all the damage well documented before getting it cleaned up. Insurance companies can be buggers to deal with.

How are you doing with your cold? Do you feel like you're all the way over it now?

Just_Lin said...

Dianne That must have been so scary for you to have your granddaughter take off like that. I'm glad she is back home now. Teenagers can be so emotional. She is thinking she and her new boyfriend are like Romeo and Juliet or something. She doesn't realize that when she's our age she probably won't even remember that kid's name.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Where are you? I promise not to cough on you.

Mary/MI said...

JustLin, Yes, thank goodness we are all over our coughs and colds! I sure hope you get to feeling better. When I was coughing and gagging at night I would run the hot water in the sink and breath in the steam and took a face cloth to bed to breath in the moisture from it.

Dianne, Oh how I remember those rebellious years! So much drama! I look back and feel sorry for my parents! I hope she sees how scared you all were and doesn't repeat!

We are off to the American Legion for their fish dinner.

Dianne/Denver said...

Well thanks Mary and JL.....I'm starting to cough tonight s very deep cough!! I told you guys to stay off my branch but oh no...you had to fly over and leave cough germs!! I do not have time to be sick. Maybe it will be gone by morning.

Went to dinner with Kayla tonight. We had a good talk but this boyfriend issue is not over with for them. I see more trouble to come. Scares the heck out of me. She knows how upset I was yesterday.

Mary, did they find out what was wrong with your niece? Hope she's ok.

Waving a wing from Wisconsin!!!

Jake is doing fine. He didn't go to regionals last Saturday to support his team because he was still having a headache. Thank you all for the concern. We will continue to keep an eye on him.

Good thing I had a bite of my cheesecake before I went to bed, because it was gone the next day!

Jodi said...

MARY - How very scary!!! I'm glad that nobody was hurt. All the hard work with be worth it. Has the guy come for the estimate? I see you had blue skies in Michigan yesterday. We had a pretty warm day here, but it was windier than a mofo. Had gusts up to 50 mph. I stayed in bed all day. Sneezing my fool head off. My left nostril is totally blocked. OY!!! Still sneezing this morning. I work all weekend and there is no one I can call to cover for me. Just have to suck it up. Taking Emergen-C, green tea and sudafed.

Jodi said...

SLIN - Loved the flowers your son sent you!!! Is your cough any better? I hope you feel good enough to have breakfast with your former co-workers on Sunday!

DIANNE - How scary with your GD!! I remember 6 years ago when Sam ran away. One of the reasons I sent her down to LOIS's for spring break!!

BARB - Any big plans for the weekend? What shows are coming up for you?

Dianne/Denver said...

Jodi, tell Lois Kayla is on her way. Lol

Jodi said...

Still sneezing my fool head off, but at least it's still "moving". Work was crazy yesterday. The books were a shit show. Had to clean up some stuff that Adam missed on Friday. Praying that things go smoother today.

Jodi said...

DIANNE - LOIS would totally get her in shape!!! lol!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne How are you doing? I hope you didn't get sick. I tried really hard not to cough on you. I'm still coughing but now it just about kills my right side to do so. Generally speaking, I do feel better but my muscles have just had it with all this coughing. I'm killing a little time right now until I can take some more cough suppressant.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi There you are! I'm sorry you have to go to work even when you are under the weather. Why am I not surprised that the books were a "shit show"? I think you are the only one there who has a head for numbers. I hope you have a much easier day today and that you are feeling better.
