Frozen Bike

by Dianne

People often complain about the police, but you rarely hear about the positive things they do, such as this incident involving a biker and a frozen carburetor.

Last January on a bitterly cold winter's day, a North Dakota State Trooper on patrol came upon a motorcyclist who was stalled by the roadside. The biker was swathed in heavy protective clothing and wearing a full-face helmet to protect the face from the cold weather.

“What’s the matter " asked the Trooper ?

"Carburetor's frozen," was the terse reply.

"Pee on it. That'll thaw it out."

"I can't," said the biker.

"OK, watch me closely and I'll show you." The Trooper unzipped and promptly warmed the carburetor as promised.

Moments later the bike started and the rider drove off, waving.

A few days later, the local State Troopers’ office received a note of thanks from the father of the motorcyclist.
It began: "On behalf of my daughter........

Dianne Thanks for the blog. Was that policeman your son? LOL

That's very nice of you to make those packets to hand out.

You seem to get cabin fever very easily. You should live in an are with mild temperatures where you can go outside everyday, even if it's just to sit on your own porch.

I have one particular dresser drawer that desperately needs organizing, if I ever get inspired to do so.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Well, there you are! I'm sorry you had to work on Easter, especially since you were not feeling well at all. I'm so glad Paul brought you a nice dinner, at least. I love cheesy potatoes. Then again, I love all potatoes. LOL

You have so much to do! It's a good thing you are such an organized person. LOL @ you mowing your legs! I did that the other day, too. I was starting to look like Sasquatch.

sacBarb said...

Jodi, I am feeling a little better. Thanks for asking. It's probably a good thing that you rested after work on Easter. When you are in pain, rest if very restorative! I hope the PT finally relieves you of the pain, permanently.

sacBarb said...

J/L, I'm glad your ATM issue was easily cleared up. It's a pain, though, when you have to go through all that and also embarassing when your card is denied. My credit card was denied once and I was shocked. I couldn't imagine why and the sales person said maybe you reached your limit. I said, "I hope not because I have a $30,000 limit and the last I checked my balance was only $300." She looked at me like "Yeah, I've heard that a million times." When I checked with the bank, they had cancelled my card and reissued a new one with a new number because they said the card had been compromised. They sent a new one in the mail explaining all that, but in the meantime someone was supposed to call me and apparently that fell through the cracks. I was NOT a happy camper!

sacBarb said...

Mary, Liam explained his situation perfectly. I am so impressed that he chose his name with his mother. It is good that he can be happy with his life and no one wants any negative people around them. I know you love him and want him to be happy. I hope you are picking out a cabana boy for each of us. We'll be waiting for you to deliver them!

Dianne, You are lucky you can change your theater tickets so many times. The productions that play in Sac only last a week, (except one show a season lasts four weeks) so if we need to change our show date, it has to be within that same week.

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi all...barb, I was lucky with this show that it's here for a few weeks. We will for sure go this week. Did I tell you I'm thinking about not renewing next season? I have to talk it over with my show partner Thursdsy night and see what she thinks.

Tammy and I are going in May to see Barry Manilow. We've seen him before but I like his songs. Louis wouldn't go. He thinks all tickets cost too much. We got fairly cheap ones for this one. So...I get to see him, Darius Rucker and Josh Groban over the next five mos and then George Strait in December. Louis is going to a couple of them under duress (josh and Darius).

Jodi, I'm so glad you'll be starting PT and also glad you're feeling better. Be sure and let us know how Sam does. What a exactly are they doing to her? What will her recovery be like? Tammy has been walking around with a hurting ankle for three mos. The dr took an X-ray and said it was a bone spur and gave her a shot. Last week an MRI because it's no better and she has a fracture all this time. She's now in a boot 4-6 weeks. I can't believe she's been walking around, bowling, etc., on it.

Had lunch today with the girls (Joes daughter and daughter). It was a long catch up lunch and so nice to see them. She reminds me so much of her dad. I think the 13 year old was getting bored!!

JL, I do get cabin fever in a day. Maybe I'll come live with you!! We could go somewhere every day!

Jodi said...

SLIN - I know, right? At least as I've gotten older, I really don't grow any hair on the back of my legs, so only half Sasquatch for me. Lol!

Jodi said...

BARB - I start PT on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to see what they can do for me. Tomorrow I have a full day. Work, acupuncture, taxes, and dentist. I hope I can sleep well tonight, and not wake up early. I woke up at 1:22 this morning. My alarm goes off at 2 am, so no point in going back to sleep. I'm always afraid I won't hear my alarm.

Jodi said...

DIANNE- They are removing the piece of cartilage that broke off. In the area the cartilage broke off, they have to drill holes and implant something that will mimic cartilage, so it will be smooth on smooth in that area. They also will be doing a lateral release to put her kneecap back in the correct position. I hope Tammy's recovery goes well!

Jodi said...

MARY - I hope you are enjoying your trip! And I'll take a cabana boy, too!

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi....boy Jodi, that sounds like quite a surgery. How long will she be home recovering? Let us know. You do have a very busy day tomorrow. I just have a lunch snd am going to try and get nails done.

Barb and I went to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. It was so funny. We laughed through the whole movie. Next on our list is Hello, my name is Doris with Sally Field. Tonight was the country music show and I, as always, loved it. I liked Dolly singing the best except for my guy...Tim McGraw.

We are having beautiful weather until Tuesday. It's 70.

Hope your all doing ok.

Jodi said...

DIANNE - They said her recovery could take up to 12 weeks, but I think that would be the worst case scenario. She's young, so I think it won't be that long. We ended up having a beautiful day here. High of 75*, but very windy. We decided to go up to State St in Madison and get a gyro at Parthenon's. They were very busy, but worth the wait. The meat was tender and fresh!! Back to the 40's for highs the rest of the week. We've had some crazy weather. On Saturday it would be snowing sideways, and then 5 minutes later it would be sunny. It was blowing so hard that we had recycling bins blowing across the parking lot. That continued all morning. Both of those movies are on my "to see" list!!! They both look so funny!

Dianne/Denver said...

Jodi, your weather sounds like ours. Good thing Mary got out of town because it doesn't sound too great there with snow. I'm about over snow for this winter...ugh

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I don't remember if I mentioned on here that my friend and I went and saw "Hello, My Name is Doris" last week. We both liked it. Sally Fields does a great job. It's funny in spots and also touching.

I have never lived in a place where it snows but I can tell that I would be over it, too. We are going to have high temps on Thursday and then possibly rain on Friday. We never know what to expect around here.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi I feel so sorry for Sam. That's a lot of damage in her knee for just doing something as harmless as dancing. Who would have thought that could happen? How is this impacting her job? I hope she's back to normal as soon as possible.

I don't really grow any hair on the back of my legs anymore, either. I wish it would stop growing on the front, too.

Just_Lin said...

Barb Here's hoping Misha gets the boot tonight.

Right now I have painters here doing some touch-ups. When the morning sun hits the side of my house, some bubbles come up under the paint on the wood siding. This is common around here with new paint jobs because there is so much moisture in the air. So, today they are dealing with that. I notice my neighbor's house has even more of a bubbling problem and that house was painted by a different outfit. Anyway, if it happens again, they advise that we wait until summer to fix it again. Not that we have very warm summers.....

Just_Lin said...

Mary Here's hoping you've already spotted a cabana boy or two.

Jodi said...

DIANNE - After such a beautiful day yesterday, when I made my bank run this morning, it was actually trying to snow! Thankfully it didn't amount to much more than a few flakes. Definitely could use some warmth and sun!!! Mother Nature sure is a moody bitch lately. Lol!!

Jodi said...

SLIN - After initially having a couple of weeks off of work, they let her come back. But they didn't want her all over the store for fear that she would further injure her knee. They have given her hours at the customer service desk, so they have been very accommodating!! She will get short term disability pay during her recovery. I think it's only 60% of her pay, but better than nothing!

Jodi said...

My appointments went well today. I was dreading going to the dentist because it had been over a year, but "look ma, no cavities"!!! My tax lady is hoping to get my taxes done before the 15th, but will probably be filing an extension. Her Mother was diagnosed with cancer in March, so she has been a bit overwhelmed. She said this was the first time in 23 years that she's had a major "situation" during tax season. I guess I don't mind. I'm quite sure we won't be getting a refund, so I don't mind waiting to pay.

Tomorrow after work I have my first PT session. I was also able to get in to get a manicure. I would have waited another week, but one of my nails broke.

Have a good night HOoters ♥

sacBarb said...

Jodi, Be careful what you call Mother Nature. You really don't want to piss her off!!! I hope Sam has a speedy recovery. She does have youth on her side.

sacBarb said...

J/L, I hope Misha goes home tonight, too. I also hope I can stay awake through the show. My energy level lately has been low again, ever since I've been dealing with this vertigo. Whenever I do the slightest thing, I get worn out. Today all I did was go have my taxes done and come home and I can hardly keep my eyes open. BTW, the Feds are paying me and I broke even with the State, so it's all good!

sacBarb said...

Dianne, We go see Newsies on April 14. Sharon and I have thought about dropping our subscription to the theater for the past couple of years, but when we see the program, we decide to buy in. It gets a little more expensive each year!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi I hate to break it to you but even with an extension, the IRS expects you to send in the estimated amount you think you will owe. Any adjustments to that amount will be made when you file your returns and either you will pay more or get some of it returned.

Just_Lin said...

Barb Well, Mischa went home as we expected. I forgot to vote for my favorites so maybe I will do that now. Nyle will get most of my votes.

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi...I'm frustrated with my printer tonight and I don't like my new nail color. My printer keeps saying needs paper no matter what we do. I had my nails done a new color with colored powder today and we miscommunicated. I thought my whole nail was deep pink but it ended up being the tips and it was too late too change. I like it on others but not myself. Oh well, three weeks will go fast unless I give in sooner. I've gone to her for seven years and it's the first mistake between us.

I'm off to Greeley tomorrow, which is about an hour and a half from here. I'm having lunch with my uncle as he's having open heart surgery next week so I want to have lunch with him prior to the surgery.

Barb, have you talked to the doctor about your vertigo? Is there anything they can give you for it?I had it a few years ago but then eventually went away. I got nauseated with mine, do you? Hope you start getting some energy and feeling better soon.

JL, I don't think you would like to live where it snows, especially when you're not used to it. I'm used to it and it still gets on my nerves. I shouldn't be complaining for just being stuck for a day.

Jodi, glad (work) is working with Sam. Good luck on your PT tomorrow. Hope it shows results.

Jodi said...

BARB - I ain't skeered ;) And thank you. I hope it all goes well!!

Jodi said...

SLIN - Good to know. I think she will have them done, she is just playing it safe.

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Maybe the manicure will grow on you!! I love having the color just on the tips, that way the outgrowth doesn't show as much! They have been awesome! Sam is so blessed to have a place that will accommodate her needs right now! I've been doing stretches at home, but am looking forward to learning how to do them the correct way!

sacBarb said...

Jodi, In addition to what J/L said, if you owe more they will charge you late fees and maybe interest.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I am taking Meclezine for the Vertigo and it has helped. I don't know if the energy thing is related tothe vertigo, but It just seems to have coincided with the onset.

sacBarb said...

I hope the PT helps the sciatica. I may take a couple times to show.

Dianne/Denver said...

Barb, make sure your iron isn't low. I know that and my B-12 was low so I get a shot every month. I don't know if it helps or not. Now that I'm on Medicare, they won't pay for it ..grr.

Jodi, I hope so on the manicure. I keep thinking my fingers are bleeding. Oh such problems :) how did PT go today?

Mary, hope you're having fun. It looks like it on FB.

JL, what are you up to today? I drove a total of 150 miles. After my lunch with my uncle, I drove 70 miles to pick up Emilee for our Tuesday night dinner. It was sad not having Kayla there but I'm not taking Jake all the time. I am having lunch with Tammy and Kayla on Thursday. I miss her.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Kayla should understand that Tuesday dinners are for you and her girls; no boys allowed. On the bright side, it probably isn't too often that you get to be with Emilee all by herself. I hope you had a nice lunch.

I went out to dinner with my friends, Jane and John, and we went to a local restaurant. I had the chicken cacciatore with linguine alfredo and a cup of minestrone soup. I brought home more than half of the entree as it was very generous portions. I'll have that tomorrow night as I am taking a friend to Outback tonight to celebrate her birthday. I'm living large. LOL Unfortunately, according to my weight, that's a truer statement than I intended.

Just_Lin said...

Barb If I had someone to go with, I would love to have season tickets to plays in the city. I love live theater. I guess it could seem like a waste of money if you end up seeing too many of the same ones. At least it gets you to go out and do it. It's too easy to procrastinate about getting tickets for individual plays.

I'm sure sorry you are still having the vertigo problem. Maybe the medication is making you drowsy. I hope you feel better soon. Do you have enough help?

Just_Lin said...

HOdi I hope the PT helps you out. I'm supposed to do exercises for that yet somehow I keep not getting around to doing it.

Just_Lin said...

Mary Ogle a cabana boy for me. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Hi, HOoters! What's everyone up to today? I went and got my hair dyed and cut. I had my hairdresser use a different color of brown on my hair and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think I would like a little mahogany color in it. Next time.... Then I went and had a fingernail repaired that I had chipped sometime in the last couple of days and then made a quick trip to the gross-ry store. That about sums up my day. Some of my favorite shows are on tonight so I'm looking forward to that. I hope everyone is having a nice day.

Barb I hope your vertigo is getting better every day.

Dianne/Denver said...

I'm up late. We went to see Newsies and Barb, it is very good. Some great dancing!! My friend and I have decided to skip a year this time. We've had the tickets for over ten years. I made her promise she would tear herself away from work once a month for dinner. She promised.

Went to lunch with Tammy and Kayla was a no show. Boyfriend rode his friends motorcycle and crashed last night. Andy had to take him to urgent care for two and a half hours and he "had" to have Kayla there "to support him" and to cancel her lunch, so she did. Grr. He then lost his new job because with his injuries he's a liability to car dealership. It just gets worse daily. Totaled the motorcycle.

Jl, how was your dinner with friends?

Just_Lin said...

Dianne The boyfiend (see what I did there?) is needy and controlling and probably immature. Did he have a license to drive a motorcycle? Does he have healthcare coverage? His friend is probably not too happy with him, either. If he's already started work, I don't know that it's legal for the car dealership to fire him because of his injuries unless they prevent him from doing his job.

The dinners were good. Last night I had leftovers from Tuesday's dinner.

Dianne/Denver said...

Police came to Andy's today as a couple of IPods are missing from cars at the dealership. He has to meet with police tomorrow. They are talking to all the employees. He probably stole them!! I seriously doubt he has a license to drive a motorcycle and supposedly Medicaid. I think Andy and WENDY are about to put him out and let the chips fall where they may with Kayla. This guy is wrecking their family.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, OMG what a mess this 'boyfiend' (LOL J/L) is making of everything. If he isn't licensed to drive a motorcycle, it is irresponsible of him to drive it. He may have crashed intentionally to get sympathy from Kayla and everyone else, and to get out of working. It sounds like he would rather be injured than have to work. If he stole those iPods, maybe they will put him in jail. Maybe that will show Kayla that he doesn't deserve her. Maybe he will also have to do time for crashing the motorcycle. Did he damage any other property? Insurance won't cover anything if he didn't have a license.

Sharon and I have had our season tickets for about 22 years and combined with ushering at the summer musical theater for 46 years, I have seen most of the shows, except the very new ones, many times. I do love them, but I am going to have to give up the usher gig this year, I think. I won't be able to stand for 3-2 hours. I may be able to hand out the assisted hearing devices and sit at that table until the show starts. I'll have to ask the head usher about it. There is a person that already does that, but I don't think she has standing restrictions like I do.

sacBarb said...

J/L, I went to the doc today about the vertigo. I should have gone sooner, because I have an ear infection. I got meds and I need to call the doc in two weeks and give him an update on how I feel.

Dianne/Denver said...

Barb, I hope your new meds work and u get feeling better very soon. Boyfriend did not damage any other property. We're hoping they put him in jail. Andy and Wendy tossed him out. Told him they will not let him ruin the family. Kayla was hysterical so she loaded the car from her dads and they r sleeping in car somewhere tonight. Her bluff needed to be called. He's so ungrateful, controlling, etc. maybe she will get in trouble of not obeying curfew. It's so heartbreaking. She knows she can be at mom or dads and that's he's homeless not her!!

JL, that's a good name for him. I usually refer to him as loser or a$$hole!!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Maybe Kayla needs to be reminded that the boyfiend's grandparents love him more than anyone on earth and even they threw him out and there has to be a very good reason for that. There are givers and takers in this world and so far he has only been a taker. Maybe someday that will change and he will grow up, but in the meantime, he is creating a lot of collateral damage around him. Kayla feels sorry for him as if he's a poor stray animal and he's counting on that. He's just taking and taking from her to fill his own needs with no regard to her needs or best interests. Too bad she can't see that.

Just_Lin said...

Barb I'm sure glad you went to the doctor. I guess I assumed you already had and had gotten diagnosed. Hopefully, everything will get cleared up now.

It's raining tonight. :)

Just_Lin said...

Hi, HOoters. It's quiet here today. I've had a low energy day. Not that that is particularly unusual. LOL For some reason, I just could get to sleep last night. Then at around 4:30 my stomach started growling and I fantasized about tomato soup. I finally just got up and made myself the soup and ate it while reading on my Kindle. I finally went back to bed and then woke up at 9:30. The only thing I accomplished today was to go out for lunch and then picked up a few things at the gross-ry store. I did play a little with the dog but it has started raining again now. It rained all night last night and normally I go to sleep really well while listening to that. I don't know what my problem was last night.

Waving a wing from chilly Wisconsin! Sam's surgery went well. She had 2 pieces of cartilage that had to be removed. The one piece took the dr a half an hour to get out. In the area the cartilage was missing he drilled holes into her bone marrow. He put the stem cells from the marrow in the area she lost the cartilage, and covered it with a special glue. It is his hope that something will grow there to mimic the cartilage that was lost, since cartilage doesn't grow back. For this reason, she needs to keep her leg straight for 2 weeks to give this a chance to grow. He also thinks that at one point she might have dislocated her knee, because her kneecap wasn't in the correct position. When he was in there, he saw a fair amount of localized surface damage under her kneecap, so he cleaned that up before doing a lateral release. The lateral release enabled him to put her kneecap back in the correct position.

Today I went to Wal-Mart and got her a cheap plastic lawn chair to put in the shower. A better and cheaper alternative to an actual medical shower chair. It has "arms" so she will be able to help herself back up to a standing position when she is done. All for $8.88!!! Ha!!!

Sam is doing great!! She can now get up without assistance and get to the bathroom by herself. Her pain is also manageable. She's down to taking one pain pill every 6 hours or so.

Just_Lin said...

Oh, I forgot to mention that I had suggested to my daughter that as a combination birthday and Mother's Day gift, she could get us tickets to go see Kinky Boots when it comes to San Francisco next month. She got us tickets for the matinee on May 15. I'm really looking forward to it. I love live theater.

Jodi said...

BARB - I've only had the one session of PT. I need to call on Monday to make my next appointment. I wasn't sure with Sam's surgery when I would be able to leave her. I also did my last acupuncture treatment on Thursday. I had another gal this time. To tell the truth, I liked my first one better. But the new one gave me more info on how to sit properly, and tricks on how do move at work so I don't "tweak" the sciatica again. I had no idea!!! I've always taken for granted that I've always been "bendy like pretzel". lol!!!

I'm glad you finally went to the dr. I hope by treating the ear infection, that your vertigo goes away!

Jodi said...

SLIN - Good grief!!! I hope I didn't' step on you!!!

Jodi said...

SLIN - That sounds like a wonderful gift!!! I've never seen that show, but have heard good things about it! The last show I saw was "Wicked" last fall with a couple of "my gays"!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - lol @ loser or asshole (there, I'll say it properly for you)!! I hope Kayla finally sees him for what he is and drops him!!! I'm so sorry he has such a hold on her.

Have you realized that your fingers aren't bleeding yet? ;) I got hot pink tips before Sam's surgery. There is a slight sparkle in the pink and I love it!!

Jodi said...

55!!!

Just_Lin said...

HODdi So glad Sam's surgery went well. The lawn chair is a great idea! Good thinking!

sacBarb said...

Jodi, I have a chair in my shower that I got from a medical supply store and it cost me $50 and it does have arms. The lawn chair is a great idea and you can't beat the price. My shower is kinda small so even if I had thought of it, a lawn chair probably wouldn't fit. I hope you can get some more PT in to relieve that sciatic nerve. LOL @ your bendy self! Is Sam using a walker to get around? I can't imagine how she can walk or sit without bending her leg. It's gonna be a long two weeks!

sacBarb said...

J/L, Kinky Boots is a great show. We saw it two years ago and I would see it again.

It rained all night Friday and all day Saturday here. Not a heavy rain, but it was steady. I was feeling pretty good today and I was going to go to church, but I didn't want to go out in the rain. Don't think I'll go Sunday either.

I think the new meds are doing a good job because I was only slightly dizzy when I got up this morning. I didn't take the Meclazine, and I was ok. I did ask the doc if my lack of energy and need for sleep was a side affect and he said it was. So today I haven't been so tired.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, Is the boyfiend in jail yet?

sacBarb said...

Mary, Welcome Home! That week went by really fast, but it looked like you had fun. My cabana boy hasn't arrived yet!

Jodi said...

SLIN - Thank you!

Jodi said...

BARB - She is using crutches. She is also spending most of her time on the couch or propped up on the bed. We have a walk-in shower in our basement, so the chair is perfect!! I'm going to call on Monday to make my next PT appointment. Sam and I have been good girls and doing our PT at home!!

It's raining here this morning. At least it will be warming up, too! On Friday it was quite windy with a high in the 30's. I had Paul start a fire in our wood burning stove after we got home from dinner. I caught a chill being out in that and couldn't get warm.

I'm glad you are starting to feel better!

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi....barb, so glad you are feeling better. Now you'll probably get your energy back and do Spring cleaning!!! We are supposed to have rain mixed with snow tonight and tomorrow and then up to 80 by Thursday. I hope so. Looks like I'll have to get car washed again.

Jodi, good to hear you and Sam are doing your exercises. I'll bet she is getting bored just laying there. No, I haven't gotten used to these nails yet. I've had some compliments on them. Looks like I dipped my fingers in red sauce. Lol.

Loser is not in jail. We don't know what happened when he went to police station. Kayla went to her cheer banquet on Saturday and brought him. Tammy said she was her old self with her friends but then off with him. They slept in the car somewhere Friday and Sat night. Tonight he's in the car and she's in her room. The has been a horrible weekend for everyone. Tammy is in tears wondering what she did wrong. I've been trying to talk with her but she's so sad and scared as we all are right now.

JL, I think you will really like that show. We enjoyed it. Went to movie to see Hello, My Name Is Doris with Sally Field. We really liked it. It was funny. We saw some good coming attractions too. I seem to need a funny movie every week.

Mary, are you all unpacked? My cabana boy hasn't arrived either. How did your men do while you were gone?

Dianne/Denver said...

Oh I forgot to tell you all that my eye dr retired and I was so sad. He's rather young to retire but he said for health and family. Well...long story short he was fired for sexual misconduct. I can hardly believe it. He's good looking and so nice. Talks to me about his family, etc. I've gone to him for years. It's amazing how you think you know someone. I'm still in shock!!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - So sorry she can't see what a Loser he is!! I'm sorry you and your whole family are going through this. My heart truly goes out to you all ♥ Holy hell!!! I go to the eye Dr next week, now that's all I be thinking about. At least he wasn't your dentist. Get you all gassed up and then have your way with you. UGH!!!

Jodi said...

Today was suppose to be my last day off, but I got a call and 2 snapchats shortly after 5 am from Milissa. Today is our Kwik Clean judging day and they needed help. Last Friday was our "counter mat" day (the day our sale changes every other week). Well, Adam our Asst Store Leader changed out the signs, but didn't come close to doing it all. He had no idea how to print the pink sale tags. (We will be having a lesson on that!!!) They said if I came in they would buy me a late lunch after work tomorrow. I told them they can buy me a beer, since I'm having dinner with GOLDIE and my Aunt Jane later that day. What a freakin' mess, but I got it all done in 3 hours. It would've been sooner, but when I got there, no one was able to make coffee, so I got that area back in shape. I also made iced coffees to put out at our registers. It's required on our $1.00 Karuba Gold Mondays!!!

Tonight is our last night of bowling (yay!!!). I've not been able to bowl for 2 weeks, so I decided to try tonight, since we had to forfeit last week. Gives me an excuse to go out at least for a beer or two. I told Alex I would try. I've never felt that bowling was the problem with my back.

It's going to be sunny this week. We are slowly going to warm up with high's in the 60's by the end of the week!!

Jodi said...

Left, left, left, right, left.....

Jodi said...

Left, left, left, right, left.....

Jodi said...

69!!!! Yes, I did need that ;)

Just_Lin said...

HOdi The sciatic nerve starts in the back so be very, very careful when bowling.

I swear it seems like no one at your store knows how to do anything but you. There needs to be a training day to whip those folks into shape.

Nothing much is going on here today. I went out to lunch and have done some laundry and just kind of puttered around the house doing odds and ends. My dog had one of her outings today and came back tired so she's napping in the sun on the deck. Is that what they mean by "It's a dog's life". LOL

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I'm glad Kayla went to her cheer banquet. Tammy needs to stop thinking that the situation has anything to do with what she did or did not do raising Kayla. This is all about Kayla probably thinking she's in love and seeing the boyfiend as some tragic and romantic figure that everyone is picking on. Hopefully, his constant state of being downtrodden and pathetic will become boring to her soon.

I thought Sally Field did a really good job in that movie.

Barb I'm glad you're on the mend and getting your energy back. The kitties probably liked all the extra cuddle time in bed, though.

Here's hoping Flutie goes home tonight on DWTS.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I know you came home and didn't run off with a cabana boy. Where are you? Still unpacking?

sacBarb said...

Well, DWTS was a disappointment. Marla went home instead of Flutie. Both J/L and I thought it may have had something to do with the Trump name. They kept refering to her as Donald Trump's former wife.

Today is my Mellie kittie's birthday and Friday is Tara's birthday. They are now a year old. Does that make them a full fledged cat instead of a kittie? They give me a lot of pleasure even if they are mischievous at times. ;)

Good night everyone. I hope you all had a good day.

SLIN - Monday night was a mistake. I never felt that bowling was the problem. Pretty sore, but probably more because I was apprehensive about trying. And the fact that I hadn't bowled in 3 weeks.

And yes, we will be having many "classes". Ha!!! I told Milissa straight up that he needs to be scheduled with me for the next "counter mat" day. It is ridiculous that he doesn't know how to do these simple things.

Jodi said...

BARB - Happy Birthday to your babies. Can't believe they are a year old already. I'm glad they have given you so much joy!!

Jodi said...

Last night I had dinner with Aunt Jane and GOLDIE. We had dinner at the place that Alex's boyfriend's parents own in the next town over. It's basically a sports bar, but their food is really good!! The company was even better!!! I needed some "girl time".

After work today I will be picking up my taxes. She got them done. Her assistant called to make the appointment, so she had no idea of the outcome. I hope the damages aren't too bad.

Just_Lin said...

Barb Happy birthday to the "girls". They are lucky they got such a nice home with you. Have they attempted to "help" you while you are making cards? LOL Pets are such good company and they give you a cover for when you are really just talking to yourself.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi How fun that you got together with Goldie and your Aunt Jane.

Yay for getting your taxes done. Hopefully. you won't owe anything. I still don't have the bill from my tax guy.

I'm forking out money for fencing between my yard and the neighbors. The owner of the house next door has agreed to pay half for the part that had been damaged by the storm. I've decided to have the guys working on the fence to replace some additional sections as they are old and decrepit. I'm hoping to only have to pay for half of that part, too, but we shall see.

Jodi said...

SLIN - Cost me $583 to have my taxes done, and we are paying a 1/3 of what we did last year to the fed and getting just over $800 back from the state. Not near as bad as I thought it would be. Yay!!!

Jane really gets along with GOLDIE. I wish she would attend a HO event. You guys would love her!

Good luck with the fencing. Does your homeowner's insurance pay for any of that?

Lol @ Pets are such good company and they give you a cover for when you are really just talking to yourself. Wish I had that cover ;)

Just_Lin said...

HOdi The homeowner's insurance does apply to that part that is due to storm damage. Cutting down the part of the tree that hadn't already come down and removing all of the tree ate up the deductible. My homeowner's is then covering half of fence that was damaged during the storm. Replacing any more than that is on me but I hope the guy who owns the house next door will go ahead and share that cost with me, too. I need to get him an updated estimate.

Just_Lin said...

Mary Are you still recovering from your trip or planning your next one?

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Have you run away with Mary? Or have you dealt with the boyfiend and are now disposing of the body?

Just_Lin said...

Barb I think we've got a little more rain on the way.

Waving a wing before work. Any big plans for the weekend? We've had beautiful weather here. Thankfully I get done at noon today and tomorrow so I can enjoy it!!

Have a great day HOoters ♥

Just_Lin said...

HOdi No big plans but it is a beautiful day here today, too. It's about 70*. I did go out to lunch and had a very tasty Reuben sandwich.

The guys finished with the fence yesterday but still have to finish with cleanup. The last guy here last night was here until it was too dark to work anymore.

Jodi said...

SLIN - It's about 75° here. Going to be in the mid to upper 70's through Monday, and in the 60's the rest of the week. I'll take it! I brought a salad home for lunch. Kinda feeling like prime rib for supper. Our favorite diner, The Koffee Kup, has a prime rib special on Saturday.

Glad your fence is finished!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Prime rib is good any old night but especially good when it's on special.

Helloooo! I an sorry I have been a no-show. I have barley had a chance to sit for a minute since I've been home! The guys did fine... until I noticed they did me a "favor" and cleared out my home office while I was gone so I could paint it! I have not been able to find a dam thing! I finally located my checkbook and still looking for my calendar with all my appt. and birthday dates! I had to call my hairdresser to find out when I go in again! I put two coats of paint on 3 of the walls. We are still waiting on the guy who is supposed to fix the messed up wall. He didn't bother to tell us he was going to Florida for 2 weeks and never ordered our window, so we are waiting on that! He did my kitchen and stairway with no problem. I am so disappointed in him now!
My son cut out and put down all the trim and I stained it. Jim has been having trouble with his arm since he fell out of bed! No I didn't push him lol! Zoie went flying with him too! I wanted to laugh so bad!!!

I bought a new Jeep, that took a couple of days of the week! We had to go to the DMV and make things legal with my old Jeep going to Matthew and of course all the insurance business! All we have left to do is get rid of the first Jeep. Matt put on on a new mirror to replace the old cracked one, fixed the wiper blades and put on new brake shoes. He was out there all day! I... SLEPT IN!!!

We got out airline tickets to Vegas for the first week in May. Jim wanted to go for a week because of the Kentucky Derby, but didn't want to leave Zoie that long. I told him to fly out Monday to Monday and I would meet him there on Fri and fly back with him on Mon. that seemed to please him :).
I have only read half of the above comments. Hope to finish them soon. Oh yeah, I also came hope with a stomach bug! I thought it was over, but my tummy is still a bit queezy! I really don't think it was the food in the compound we were in. I think it was some nasty sandwich I ate at the airport before coming home!
OK, I see I just wrote a novel lol!!

Dianne, sorry your Cabana boy has nor arrived!

Jodi, I am glad you and your daughter are on the mend.

Barb,I hope your vertigo has gone away!! Sorry about the earache! They are the worst!!

JLynn,I bet your hair is cute! Mahogany sounds cool!!

Just_Lin said...

Mary Well, you have certainly been a busy little bee lately. I got a funny visual of Jim and Zoie falling out of bed. I don't think I could have resisted laughing. Zoie was probably wondering, "WTH?" LOL I'm sorry Jim hurt his arm, though. I hope it's just bruised at that's all.

That's too bad about the guy who is supposed to fix that wall. It's especially annoying that he didn't even order the window yet.

I'm sorry you caught a Mexican bug. That seems to be what happened to me, too, when I was there. It didn't hit me until I was home so at least it didn't ruin my good time.

sacBarb said...

J/L, it was a beautiful day here, too and not as windy as yesterday. I only went outside to get my mail and almost got blown down the street. You know that was a strong wind if it almost lifted me up. Yes, the 'girls' do try to 'help' me make cards. They especially like ribbon.

sacBarb said...

Jodi, Holy crap! $583 is a lot to pay to have your taxes done! I don't think we ever paid that much even when we owned the glass shop. It's so nice that you and Heidi live close enough to get together often.

sacBarb said...

Mary, I'm sorry Jim fell out of bed, but it made me laugh, too, and poor Zoie. I hope Jim is OK. I am going to be in Las Vegas May 18-23 with my high school friends. Being good Catholic school girls, we have named our annual get together a Retreat, but it is as far from a religious retreat as we can get! LOL It sounds like you will be gone when I'm there.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, If you ARE disposing of the body, you can come here to hide out! Or are you already hiding somewhere?

Mary/MI said...

Looks like a quiet Sunday in the nest!
I cleaned out the Jeep my Grandson is taking. It took me a couple of hours! I had all kinds of energy, not so much after buying gross-eries!
I buy my meat and fresh veggies at the market and the rest at Wally world or Meijers.
I was lucky today. When I came out of the market I noticed a new truck parked next to me and a metal shopping cart resting on its front grill. The cart was at the top of the parking lot I'm sure and rolled down to his truck. just missing my new Jeep!! It would have taken someone all of 10 sec. to at least put the cart by the store.

Barb, I can't believe I will be missing you in Vegas! We come home on the 9th.You cracked me up on " Being good Catholic school girls..."

Dianne/Denver said...

Here I am. I wish I was disposing the body. No such luck. Update is Tammy toss d him out of garage on Friday night. Grandparents finally took him back temporarily. I hoe it lasts then Kayla doesn't feel responsible for him. She even went on errands and nails with her mom this morning. He was pissed!! She "says" she's going to prom with like ten cheerleaders and is ordering dress today. We will see if that pans out.
Emilee went to spend night with friend and friends mom called Tammy at 1:10am to tell her she just woke up and girls were gone. Em showed up at 5:30 am. She's in huge trouble. Tammy is feeling very stressed plus this doesn't help her lupus.

It's been snowing all weekend. Luckily, its been warm so the roads here in town did not get icy and I was able to get out. Barb and I went to see Boss today with Melissa McCarthy. It was very funny. We grabb d some late lunch and then I came home and took a nap

Dianne/Denver said...

Mary, glad you had a nice trip. How's did Jim fall out of bed? Boy, that's frustrating about your wall. How nice of the guys to "help" you cleaning out your office.

Barb, that will be fun going on your retreat. Where are you staying?

Jodi, I thought that was a lot to pay for tax preparation too. We paid $170 and that is with schedules too. How's Sam doing? How are you feeling?

JL, I go to the dentist for a cleaning tomorrow. I sure hope that's all!! I go to a woman dentist close by now.

Louis has cataract surgery Wednesday and I'll be taking him. This week is full of Drs, dentist and only one lunch on Friday. I go back to bladder dr this week too. This surgery I had isn't working too great.

Just_Lin said...

Barb It's great that you and your high school girlfriends have kept in such close contact. Your retreat this year sounds like a blast. Should we start beefing up the bail fund?

It was 78* or 80* here today. So what did I do? Mopped the kitchen floor. LOL I should have been sitting out on the deck trying to tan up this pale skin of mine.

Just_Lin said...

Mary Oh, I'm so glad that grocery cart didn't run into your new car. Don't you just hate it when your new car gets it's first ding or scratch? People should be more courteous about returning the carts properly.

It sounds like Jim is very attached to Zoie. That's cute.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I feel so bad for Tammy. Having one daughter to worry about is bad enough but to have the second one acting up now is really distressing. I do have to admit that as a senior, my girlfriend and I would come up with excuses to "cruise" later than we should have. I also remember us each telling our mothers that we were spending the night at the other's house and then staying out all night. That was on New Year's Eve and we spent the night walking around the parade route of the Rose Bowl Parade. I guess all things considered, it was a pretty safe thing to do since the sidewalks were crowded with people spending the night in order to have a good viewing spot for the parade.

sacBarb said...

Dianne. I'm sorry the bladder surgery isn't working. I hope you don't have to go through it again. Is this the first time Emily has done something like that? The teenage years are tough on both kids and parents. I remember some things with my boys and I wonder how I lived through it or let them live through it. Dean and Chad were very difficult. Whenever someone asked me how old they were I would answer "he's gonna be xx if I let him live." Thankfully Todd (the baby) was a very mellow child and gave us no trouble at all. It's a good thing, because I was too old to go through a third one like the other two. Now that they are adults, it's hard to believe they were so contrary. They are all responsible adults and not in jail like we thought they would be. LOL

sacBarb said...

Mary, There are six of us so we rented a big house in Henderson which is only about five minutes from LV. We will probably go in to Vegas once or twice and spend the rest of the time at the house just catching up with everyone's life. We only do this once a year. One of the 'girls' lives in Sac near me, one lives in Porterville, one lives in Las Vegas, one lives in Newport Beach, and one lives in Beverly Hills. So we don't usually see each other during the year, except Claire, who lives in Sac, and I see each other more. Sorry we will miss each other.

sacBarb said...

J/L, It's always good to know we have a bail fund, just in case! LOL We never plan to do anything crazy, but, you know, the best laid plans... Our temps were in the high 80s today and it it supposed to get up to 90 tomorrow. I put the A/C on for a little while today.

sacBarb said...

Hi Jodi. I hope you and Sam are doing well.

Just a quick fly-by. Heading to the PO to get stamps and mail my procrastinating son's, tax forms!
Remember, Jim has "restless leg syndrome and nightmares. He must have been running away from something as usual lol. He tends to kick a lot also. Dives Zoie crazy, but she likes to sleep next to us and Jim has long legs!
