Barb I'll get my corned beef cooking on the stove before noon. Corned beef and cabbage is one of my favorite meals. I only bought a smallish one and I don't mind having it for dinner more than once and having corned beef sandwiches for lunch.

When we were watching the after Bachelor show, I didn't think Nick looked all that excited and when she came out and sat with him, they just seemed like things weren't that great between them. It was a topic of discussion on the View the next morning and showed some shots that looked like she was kind of rolling her eyes.

Mary That's so sad about your sister-in-law. Was she like that before going in the hospital or is her disorientation due to the infection?

Your luncheon sounded delicious. I haven't made stuffed pork chops in a long, long time and I love them. I'll have to do that sometime in the near future. That's really something that they provide that lunch to you for free. Do they do that like once a month?

Dianne Well, that's unfortunate that Jake-ass is back in town. His aunt/uncle probably paid to get rid of him. I hope Kayla won't be manipulated by him again. It's so great that she is doing well in school again.

Congrats on your gambling win. How fun! Also, congrats on that weight loss. You are seeing the positive results from not drinking Coke so much. Coke is like a gateway drug. It makes me want more and more. LOL

I think Louis should stop buying theater tickets online unless he's going with you.

Dianne said...

JL, I think do too regarding the movie tickets. Andy always offers to pay but LOUIS is disappointed. He went alone today. I told him to give the ticket to someone in line but he said it would be weird to give one ticket. LOUIS won't ever let andy pay either. I would!

I had an eating day and a great breakfast with my late husbands daughter and family. They live in Texas and I haven seen them for years. It was so fun catching up and for a surprise their older daughter came in town too. So many memories. We spent along time together catching up. I then had lunch at 1 with my niece. I only had soup at that point and that Damn water. I feel like I'm floating. It was a special day.

We're just staying home tonight. Too full to go out to dinner. I had a good late nap. How's your dinner, JL? I think I can smell it. Gosh, I'm still missing coke. I have one every now and then but nothing like I was drinking them.

We have hope for Kayla. She started a job tonight. At least she can stay and meet friends at this one. I hope nobody creepy again.

Dianne, Congratz on that win. I have never won either in Tahoe or Vegas. The only thing I was really lucky at winning was when I continued to contribute to the Super Bowl pool my Husband was in. He and a group of friends would contribute $10 per month for a year and then there were several times during the game when they could win besides at the end of the game. The first year after my Husband died I won $720 because I had the half-time score and it stayed the same for the final score. I won a few more times after that year, but never that much. I figured it was my Husband's luck because he picked the square in the pool and I was just cashing in on it. They dissolved the pool about five years after my Husband died. At least that's what they told me! I always wondered if they were just tired of me winning! LOL

Good for Kayla for sticking with school and getting a job. Where is she working?

sacBarb said...

J/L, I said on the night of the final rose that I didn't hold out much hope for it lasting. Now I feel even stronger about it! They just don't look that happy, imo.

Reading about you making corned beef and cabbage and hearing about others having it is making me want some. I think I'll check to see if the River's Edge is making it for the weekend. Since it's Lent, I'm not eating meat on Fridays or I would have thought about it today!

sacBarb said...

Mary, You should post some of your recipes sometime. Everything you make sounds so good. I must have missed the post where you got free food, but it's nice when that happens.

sacBarb said...

Helloooooo, where is everyone?

J/L, The River's Edge did not make corned beef and cabbage for St. Pat's day, but my sister did and I mentioned my failed plan to have some, so she shared some of hers with me. So I got my fix after all!

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Sac Town so I sat outside on the glider and read my book for a while. I really need to sand that bench and repaint it. Maybe that's why I don't spend a lot of time in the backyard. Every time I go out there, I see something that needs to be done. LOL

I'm here ..has been pretty quiet in here. We went to St Pats party yesterday with about 30 prophets attending...lots of family. It was a lot of fun. We go every year. I like those family things. Had a lunch on Saturday and that's about it. I had a nurse appt today as my blood pressure machine keeps showing I'm high on the bottom number so dr wanted to compare it to hers. Mine is about 20 points higher so guess my blood pressure isn't as bad as we thought.

Kayla started her job at a large bowling alley here. She's learning to run food and the front desk. It sounds like she did well and worked all weekend. She has court tomorrow for the previous large ticket she received a couple of months ago and then court again in Thursday to make the restraining order against Jake permanent. Hope that goes for sure.

Barb, glad you got your corned beef...especially without having to cook it. Barb. Are you and J L gone the same time in April?

JL and Mary...what are you two up too? Getting in trouble?

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Here I am! Not getting into trouble but running around doing errands and trying to tie up loose ends before my trip. It is coming up fast but I think I feel like it's coming up faster than it really is. Today I ordered some Euros at my bank. They should have them in a couple of days. I have a list of things to do before I go and that was one of them.

I had to laugh at your post as you wrote that there were 30 prophets attending. LOL That sounds like an unusual gathering.

I'm so glad that Kayla is starting back on the right path. Hopefully, that will help her out when she goes to court.

I bought some new jeans the other day but I've decided I don't really like them so need to take them back. I thought I might do that today but then it started raining and I didn't feel like going.

Just_Lin said...

Barb I'm glad you got your corned beef dinner. I just made a small one and got two dinners out of it and two sandwiches. I really like it. I should remember to make it at other times besides just St. Patrick's Day. It's so easy to do. It all fit in one big pot: corned beef, cabbage, carrots and red potatoes. Yum!

It's raining pretty heavy right now. I love listening to it at night but I hope it lightens up tomorrow so I can do some stuff I put off doing today. I am thinking of signing up for an art class that is being offered by our Parks and Rec. It's a 3 hour class being held once a month on a Saturday starting April 8 and ending in August. It's $72 each time plus a $10 check to the P & R Dept. I will be out of my comfort zone. I wonder if I can just sign up for one at a time or if I have to sign up for all of them now. These questions are why I want to go in person to sign up so I can ask these questions. Maybe it has to do with space available. I don't know.

Mary Where for art thou?

JL, I need to proof read more. I think it was family...stupid iPad. How does it change it to that word? I have a cruise to do list too. I'm concerned about packing since we will be gone for 15 days we driving vacation too. Hope I have enough underwear. I will. I also have to bring Alaska clothes and summer clothes.

Well Kayla has lost her license for a year, 1-1/2 years worth of classes and on probation for 15 mos. it's a good thing they had an attorney as the DA started out wanting ten days in jail. The attorney told her whole story and how she has filed a restraining order and in school so it worked to her advantage but still has consequences ..which she should!!

Isn't the art class when u are on vacation? It sounds like fun though since you are artistic. Have you ever gone to those wine and paint places? I know a lot of people that have had a lot of fun there. I wouldn't want to go since I can't draw a straight line.

We were supposed to have light rain today but none. We are so dry that fires are popping up now. The mountains have tons of snow but we are breaking records every day with our beautiful weather. We will still get snow though. Two years ago it snowed on Mother's Day.

I had a really nice lunch today with just my son. I don't get to do that often. He even paid lol and I let him.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne It's hard to pack when you have different climates you are visiting. I guess "layering" is the name of the game.

No, the art classes are only once a month and the first one would be 4 days before my trip starts. The next one will be in May and our trip concludes on April 30 so it works out perfectly. I still have registered for the classes, though. I thought I might do it today but it was raining really hard all night and I woke up at 4:30 after only 3 1/2 hours of sleep. I could not go back to sleep and by the time noon rolled around, I was feeling really lousy so I went back to bed and slept for another 2 hours. I ended up just puttering around the house. It turned out to be a nice day but I didn't take advantage of it. I believe rain is on the way again.

I hope Kayla learns something from this mess she got herself into. It will pass and she will be a smarter and stronger girl for getting through it.

Dianne said...

Hi...I too hope Kayla learns something from this whole thing. She went today and made the restraining order against Jake-ass permanent. The judge questioned her to be sure and said don't cry wolf. I do hope this is the end of this horrible saga.

Louis's knee has been giving him fits with pain and he finally got into the dr today. He was afraid of a knee replacement. He has what they call a Bakers Cyst behind the knee. It's fluid so he had a shot and got an anti-inflammatory. He's really been in pain but so relieved he doesn't need a new knee.

Barb and I went to magginos for a late bday lunch for both of us. I haven't been there in years. It was so good but we ate too much. It was buy one and take home one so LOUIS had a great dinner. As a surprise, Barb insisted on paying. Boy, what a treat. We spent the whole afternoon sitting there talking. She's on vacation this week.

Barb and Mary, where are the two of you? Missing you guys.

JL, did you register for your art class? Sounds fun. Get you out and about too. I'm not too great with layering on clothes. I'll just hope I don't spill and wear the same top a couple of times. Is it still raining there? We are supposed to get snow tonight but not a lot. I sure hope none on the roads. Barb's and I were going to go to a movie but I couldn't find any movie to go too. She kind of wanted to see Beauty and The Beast but I really don't have any desire to see it.

That's about it from my corner of the world.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I signed up for the April class and the May class. If I like them, I will sign up for the rest of the monthly classes that go through August. It's convenient that these classes I signed up for occur before and after my trip so I won't miss any. It's also convenient that the classes are being held at the Sanchez Art Center which is only about 1/2 mile away from me.

Today we are having rain, again. I ordered Euros from my bank the other day and they are now available for me to pick up. I will probably do that but on a rainy day like today, it's so much easier to put off any errands and just stay home.

I'm sorry about Louis' painful knee. Hopefully, he will be feeling relief from that injection soon.

I'm not usually good about layering, either, but if you are going from warm to cold climates, sometimes packing stuff you can layer is helpful.

The wind is starting to pick up now. I'm glad I got the dog to go out and do her morning business before this storm got too bad.

Hi there! I am getting old! I sometimes get the nest and FB mixed up and think I was in both lol!
I have been busy, mostly running around doing things like today's Dental appmt, yesterday had a pedi, Monday took Queenie to the groomers for the first time and visiting my sister in law who is now home and doing very well.I took her a salad, garlic bread and lasagna. Today I made a beef & veg, soup for an old friend of ours who fell, and we went to the American Legion for fish dinner. I have been getting my music around for another gig tomorrow night. I haven't said anything on FB, because it is at a bar, but it's for a Birthday party. Anyone can join in, but not sure my friends would feel comfortable knowing it was a party, kwim?

You gals going on trips are making me want to go someplace!! It must be a nasty travel bug lol! I wish Jim would go on a cruise with me. I still want an owl cruise!

SacBarb, I would have trouble writing down my recipes. I use my Mother's method, 'a pinch of this and a pinch of that", rarely the same way each time lol!

Today was beautiful! Unfortunately it's supposed to rain tomorrow. I hate moving my equipment in the rain! Moisture is not a friend of speakers!

So far I think Sunday is a rest day lol! Have a great week end everyone!!

Dianne said...

Hi Mary....so glad to hear from you. I'll give you a little nudge here and there. We miss you. Boy, it sounds like you've been very busy. I seem to keep busy too. We had very little snow and none here. They canceled school where Tammy lives and the streets weren't even covered ..you'd think we lived in Florida. She only lives a half of an hour from me. We are going to,listen to our friends band tomorrow night. I don't like his music but he's always so happy Barb and I go. Sunday my Texas cousins have a four hour lay over so tam and I are going to take them to lunch. After that I go to my sons for my grandsons 17th birthday. We are going to have 60's all weekend.

Mary, you are so nice to take food to all the sick. Glad to hear your SIL is doing so much better. I wish Jim would go on a cruise too and then we could meet you. We could meet you anyway except we go where it's not warm enough for you. I only have one dental appt left for my long procedure and am very happy with the results.

Now we just need to have Barb check in.....

Helloooo I'm here. I have been kinda busy doing some spring cleaning. I'm getting rid of some more stuff - some for the trash and some for donations. I really don't have a lot of energy so it's taking me a long time. I am anxious to start the acupuncture and I hope it helps. Before I can have a treatment, I have to go to a class which isn't until April 5. Then it will probably be three more weeks until I get my first appointment.

I'm going on the annual Notre Dame Retreat with the high school gals the day after Easter. It's really the farthest thing from a real retreat, but since we are all Catholic girls and we had retreats every year of school, we decided to pretend we are still in school. We have rented a house on the beach in SoCal. I'm not sure exactly where. Claire and I still have to make flight arrangements. We decided not to drive this time.

J/L, I got some Cara Cara oranges based on your post a while back and they are really juicy and sweet. I have not had them before, but I like them better than Navel oranges.

I have decided on who is going to replace my roof and they are now booked until early July. Good thing I'm not in a hurry!

Mary, If we lived closer to each other, I would hire you to cook for me. I did a lot of cooking when the family was still at home, but I don't like to cook any more.

Dianne, Don't forget to wave when you go through Cali on your trip.

Mary/MI said...

SacBarb, I would love to be your personal cook, but then we would have to walk it off lol!!
Last night's DJ/Karaoke party at the bar was a bit hectic! Last time it was pretty easy, this time not so! This was a younger crowd. It is easier when I do mostly DJ. I just make song files and let them roll.Of course I have to "read" the crowd to see what I should play (mostly country) Karaoke is more work because I have to deal with people that don't write down what they want. They just yell the songs they want to sing. When I can't find their song, I ask them if they looked in the book, they look dumbfounded lol! The more they drink the less they look. I guess they think I have all 30,000 songs in my puter memorized! I try really hard to be patient, after all I was hired and it is their fun night out. No one wants a grumpy DJ LOL!!
The bar has a dance floor across the room, for some reason they decided to dance in front of my table! It makes me nervous when they stomp and hold their drinks while dancing. One guy who was singing was holding the mike in one hand and two drinks in the other! The Birthday gal was so loaded that she fell twice in front of my table!
I was glad to get home! I really prefer private partys where the host is in charge of the crowd.
By the looks of my calendar, I have a clear week! Yay!
I did make a date to have a physical next month. It has been a long time since my last one.
OK, I just wrote a novel....later :)

Hi....Barb, we aren't going thru California on our trip. We are going thru Utah, Idaho and Washington to Seattle and then afterwards we are going to Spokane, Montana,,Yellowstone and then home. If we were in Ca I'd try to at least have lunch with you.

Your retreat always sounds like fun. I thought you were going to Vegas in April? You are a busy traveling lady. Im about ready to tackle summer clothes for cleaning. I finally got my office in shape. I still want to clean drawers but at least all my filing is done.

Mary, I'd like you to come cook for me too. I'm like Barb, I used to cook all the time when the kids were home but I don't like to anymore. Just have no desire. It sounds like your night was hectic last night. We went to see my friends band and stayed for a little karaoke afterwards. They have a big screen with the names of who are singing and the order. I was still home by 9.

Today my cousins had a layover for four hours so Tam and I picked them up and went to lunch. After that I went to Todds for my grandsons 17th bday. It's been a long day and lots of driving. The airport is about an hour from me. It was fun to see them though.

Two more days and I go in for my cataract surgery. I have the second one a week later. I'm starting to get a little nervous plus I'll have to stay home not driving the next day. Oh well, weather isn't supposed to be great Tuesday.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I'm going to Vegas in May. Sharon and I already have our flight reservation and we are staying at my timeshare. I was able to use my air miles for the flight, so I'm getting off cheaply, if you don't count my $300 Cher ticket. LOL

sacBarb said...

Mary, I have only been to a karaoke night once. It was when we were in Palm Springs for Bear's retirement party. Palm Springs had a street fair one night and Lynn, J/L, and I went. One of the bars was having karaoke outside on their patio and we had a couple of drinks and watched for a while. Most of the people who sang were pretty good. It was fun to watch.

Just_Lin said...

Mary Due to your influence, I made stuffed pork chops last night for dinner. So good! I made two so ate one last night and will have one tonight. I actually felt like I had a pretty productive day which is not always the case. I got up early so I could meet with a couple of veterinarian friends of mine for breakfast and a visit. It was nice to catch up with them. It was a beautiful day so when I got home, I took the dog for a nice walk around the neighborhood. Then I swept and mopped the kitchen floor and did some laundry. I got my pork chops prepared on simmering on the stove. Boy did they smell good!
!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Your road trip sounds really nice. Do you worry about finding restrooms? I know there are areas up there where pit stops are kind of far apart.

That made me laugh that you go to see your friend's band even though you don't like the music. That's a real friend!

Boy, no sooner do you finally get everything done with your teeth and now you're starting on your eyes! I have cataracts, too, but very minor. I'm not even aware of it. Everyone I know that has had cataract surgery has had an easy time of it so I expect you will, too. It's a common procedure these days.

Just_Lin said...

Barb Okay, this is scary. I have no recollection at all of the karaoke that you said we watched. Was I on drugs? LOL

Well, even with the cost of your Cher tickets, you got quite a deal for you Vegas trip. It's great that you're able to use your airline miles and can use your timeshare, too.

It's another beautiful day. I should do something outside.

sacBarb said...

J/L, Do you remember going to the Street Faire in Palm Springs? We walked up and down the whole thing and visited a lot of the booths. I think we ate lunch at the bar the day before and they told us about the Street Faire that was going on the next night, so we went back. I can't remember if we ate there again or just had drinks. Actually, it might not have been Rob's retirement party, but when we went to Sedona. Sharon would have been with us if was the first time we went to PS. I kinda think it was just the three of us tho.

I went to bed early (for me) tonight and I woke up about 30 minutes ago and couldn't get back to sleep, so here I am. I'm feeling a little better than I was earlier.
