MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you all have a wonderful day. I'm up earlier than I would like to be as I got less than 4 hours of sleep. In a couple of hours or so I'll be heading up to my daughter's. The rain has moved through and it will be a nice day for driving. I'll check back in with you later.

Hello and merry Christmas. Hope you all had a nice day yesterday. We went to my sons and had a very nice day. We didn’t get home until about 8pm. We were tired and I’m ready to take down the decorations and move toward the new year. I’m missing Tammy and the girls but tam has been texting me every day. Went to ww today and had a loss. I think it will probably catch up with me next week as I sure ate yesterday. It’s snowing here tonight and very cold. Only going up to 24 tomorrow.

JL, I think you woke up early as you we’re excited to see if Santa had dropped by your house. Hope you had a nice day at your daughters. Remind me how far she lives from you and where’your son and grandkids live. Glad that rain passed before your drive. I hate to drive in rain and I’m not too thrilled driving in the snow either. That snow had already started when driving home tonight and it’s blinding in the dark with headlights shining at you.

Mary, looks like you had a nice dinner at your sisters yesterday. How nice that she had boxes of cookies for you all to take home. How’s that knee doing?

Barb, did you cook for Christmas or did Chad? Tell us about your day.

Hi all..I just talked to Tammy. She’s not doing great at all. She went to Er and they had her go to hospital. Nothing is broken and no surgery at this point. Gave her a anti-inflammatory shot that’s supposed to help with pain. Tomorrow their guy at the resort will fill the prescription for some other pain pills and get a full leg brace for her to wear. Dr wrote orders that she has to be on plane with leg elevated. They’re not quite sure how that’s going to work out. She can walk very slowly a short distance but can’t sit down. She has to have shots for in her tummy (that they can do) of heparin for blood clots. She’s putting a call in to her primary tomorrow. She was in the cabin as they were going and stepped out on deck with one foot and slipped. She ended up in the splits. Her left leg and arm and face went numb and she was scared she was having a stroke. They called to shore for a medic and brought a pontoon to get her. She has pulled muscles and tendons in her thigh and leg it looks like. They come home Saturday night. I’llreally worried about her
.

Dianne Well, poor Tammy! That was not a fun thing to do in the middle of her vacation. I feel so bad for her. I don't know how it would be possible for her to have her leg elevated during the flight home. Maybe they'll be able to put her in first class (assuming she's not already) where she can fully recline if she wants to.

That reminds me.... I'm jealous of your first class flight to go to your next cruise. I've never flown first class before. It would certainly be more comfortable, especially on a long flight.

I had a lovely day with my daughter on Christmas and nice phone calls with son, grandkids, and my brother. Santa was very nice to me this year. I'm glad to have all the rushing, baking, etc., over with now. I'll be staying home on New Year's Eve, which has been my usual thing for many years now. My friends and I are having dinner together on New Year's Day and we may go see the movie, "Vice". I must admit, now that Christmas is over, I feel very lazy....like I don't want to do anything except stay home in cozy clothes and binge watch a BBC show that I'm currently in to. It's not raining but it is very cold and crisp outside.

Barb I received your card yesterday and it is so cute. I received a card from my cousin on the same day so you aren't the only one who got them out late this year. Frankly, I'm surprised I get mine out at all and I don't hand make mine.

Are we going to have to send out a search party for you? Just wondering.

Just_Lin said...

Mary How are you doing? Did you do lots of cooking on Christmas? I hope that wasn't too much for your knee.

Justlin,I cooked Christmas Eve. My son Tony and his wife came over. Matthew helped with the clean-up. I put a roast in the crock pot with carrots and taters. I also made enchiladas. We went to my sister's Christmas day. All I had to bring was green beam casserole, which Raquel always requests. It was wonderful seeing the baby. We didn't stay too long as it is a long drive and wanted to be home before dark.

Dianne, Wow! I can't imagine what Tammy and the family are going through! I can almost feel her pain! I hope there are empty seats on the plane so she can use n empty row, seat to lift her leg. I have done that. Jim moved to an empty seat in the back so I could sit sideways and stretch out. I am short, so it worked for me.

I saw my surgeon Wed. He was happy with my progress so far. I saw my primary Dr yesterday because I have been feeling run down. I have lost 10lbs. Not sure why. He did some blood work and a urine test. I just checked them on line. All looked good except for a couple of things. Could be due to all the inflammation in my knee. He also set me up for a mammogram.

I just need to get my eyes check for a new px and I should be good for a few more miles lol!

As far as my knee, I have really good days and like today, not so good. I shouldn't be lifting heavy things yet, but I keep forgetting and lift Zoie. This morning my knee buckled a bit after picking her up and have been limping all day :(
She will have to go on a diet lol!

Barb, your card was so cute! I am so not talented that way! How is the weather there? We had a surprising 50* day, then it dropped like a bomb! What a tease Mother Nature is!!

Ok, this has been on my mind for some time. I keep forgetting to ask. Who told us about Mateo? How is he doing? I think he was waiting for a donor?
Funny how some things get stuck in your brain! Must be the Mother in me. I hope he is doing well.

Mary I told you about Matteo who is part of my son's family. He is my son's girlfriend's teenage son. He is home right now and doing okay. He had a kidney transplant which they always knew he would have to do ever since he was a little boy. The new kidney was doing well until all of a sudden it wasn't so he was flown to Stanford again by helicopter and he was in the hospital for a while and then staying at the Ronald McDonald House along with his mother for many months. It was very tough going financially and emotionally. They had to take his immune system back down to zero to stop rejecting the kidney, and then build him back up again. Like I wrote at the beginning, he is finally back home and things are okay so far.

Thanks Justlin, I always included him in my nightly prayers. “ Mateo “ is Matthew in Spanish. Guess I made the connection with my Matthew.

I took the tree down and most of the decorations. It looks so gloomy now!
We are supposed to have our annual NYE dinner with Jim’s sister and her hubby. We’ve been doing it for over 20 yrs. the weatherman says freezing rain and snow with slick roads that night. It’s only a 12 mile drive, but has many curves and hills, so not sure if we will go.
Not much else going on here.

Mary Thank you for your prayers. As for your NYE, maybe a New Year's Day dinner would be safer for traveling. Just a thought.....

Hello Owls. I hope you all had a nice Christmas. Chad cooked prime rib. It was just Chad, my sister and I. I cooked the traditional spaghetti and clam sauce on Christmas Eve and in addition to the three of us, my grandson, Josh and Allie joined us. They got engaged in April with a plan to get married in Nov. 2019. So, when they arrived, they announced that they eloped on Nov 10, and no one knew except the couple that went with them. They went to Disneyland and got married near there AND it was during the same time Chad and I were in L. A. They didn’t even tell their parents until three days after they were home. They were making plans for the 2019 wedding when they realized how much it was going to cost and decided they could put that money to better use on a down payment for a house. Smart kids!

P. S. J/L, thanks for the nudge on behalf of you and Dianne. I’ll try to be better in the new year. ❤️

Dianne said...

Hi....Yippee. Congratulations JL on doing the infamous nudge. We all need one every once in awhile. Glad Mateo is doing well. I hope his recovery continues positive. Tammy is home and goes to dr in morning. I’m so glad she home. Tammy was able to be in first class the second part of flight. She sat by window and propped her leg. She was in bulkhead the first flight. It took them nine hours to get home. She said she thought she was having a stroke when the accident happened. I talked to her today and she’s in terrible pain in her upper right thigh. As I said, I’m just glad she’s home. Yes JL, this will be fun getting to go first class. Princess offered such a great deal with the airfare, hotel, transfers....we couldn’t resist. I truly hate the whole flying experience. It’s not the actual flying, it’s all the airport hassle.

Mary, you have to take it easy with your knee...as we all continue to preach to you. Glad the dr is happy with your progress and your tests are good. Wish I’d just lose 10 pounds. We went to my friends house for the boring Bronco game and I ate too many snacks so I’ll probably have a big gain this week. I went to PT on Saturday and she said I’m doing my exercises good but my back is still hurting a lot ..no relief. Our plans for our early New Years dinner have been canceled. Our friends we were going with live two hours away. Predicting 3-6” of snow and high of 10 for next two days and then right back up to the 50’s. We were at 54 today and sunny. It was a really pretty weekend. We will go visit and take lunch to my brother and sil and then home. Sounds like a boring couple of days.

Barb, thanks for the cute card. I loved the pop out inside. Sounds like you’re feeling good again. Isn’t it nice to have Chad cooking for you? Quite a surprise from your grandson. How did both sets of parents feel about their decision? They were smart but I always like a wedding. I think a lot of the people getting married today are realizing the cost is just Crazy!

If any of you have Netflix I would recommend the movie Dumplin’. I just signed up for a free month to see that movie. Jennifer Aniston plays the mom and it’s all Dolly Parton music. It’s really a cute movie. I think I told you guys that I went to see Clint Eastwood movie Mule last week and that was good too. JL, I too want to see Vice. Ok....Happy New Year everyone
