HAPPY 4TH OF JULY, LADIES! I'll be celebrating in the usual way; keeping a close eye on my drugged up dog and playing the TV very loud to try and drowned out some of the noises from the illegal fireworks. This is not a good time for me. Hope you all have a better evening.

OOPS, I posted in the last blog. Here is the copy.

Dianne, don't come looking for me. I am here!
I will be checking with my friend about the deadline for my deposit to Branson.
While I was away visiting friends in my home town, Jim got a call from the Dr that set up his test. I wish I would have been here because Jim didn't get much info, and doesn't remember much of what she said. I asked him why he didn't write it down. He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. Men!!I gather he has some sort of blockage in both legs. Not sure where to proceed from there. He can't call back until Monday, due to the Holiday. I have Googled some of the possibilities, surgery being the worst scenario.
The main message I took away from all articles is that walking/exercising is good and no smoking! Smoking raises his blockage problem by 400%! That is 400!!
His answer? " I will walk more!" I swear! The man may be an ex engineer and "math head", but not too swift in the common sense field!

J/L, I have images of the "Beverly Hillbilly s when you described your daughter's loaded car lol!
I will give the Oragel a try. Can't hurt!
My chicken would have been better if I hadn't over cooked it :( I have made better.

SacBarb,I have checked prices on the CBD oil. Yes, it is expensive, and you have to make sure it was processed properly.
Speaking of lazy men, guess who came over yesterday while I was gone and stayed until 11 pm? MAX!! He even brought some sage and basil to plant in our garden...for himself, which means we will be seeing more of him!
Jim made him plant them. We tend to get a lot of weeds, so I am wondering if he expects us to do the weeding? I have all I can do to keep up with the cukes, carrots potatoes and tomatoes! He isn't the "weeding looking type". He is one slow-moe guy.
I am sure he has been a pot smoker most of his life. Hard to tell by his weird demeanor lol!!

The friends I was visiting yesterday in my home town are both 90. Carol and Dick. Carol is the one who writes. She has written small books about many local people who have immigrated from many places. She wrote about my parents. I paid for the publishing and donated the proceeds to the Historical society in Ithaca, my home town. It has done very well.
Carol is having a heart procedure done on the 19th. Her Dr says she is a very healthy lady and should do well. I can't help but worry about her. Her and her hubby have always been very good to me.

We have no plans for today, the 4th. It is unbearably hot! I skipped the local parade and fireworks this year. The humidity is what makes it so uncomfortable!

Be safe and enjoy!

BTW,Carol got a new tiny dog for her hubby to keep him company. He took a liking to me in a "romantic" kind of way. If you get my drift lol!! My arm may never recover lol!!
He tried to hump it 3 times bwah ha ha!!

Howdy...Happy 4th. Went gambling and I lost $41 and Louis won $200. He does better as he plays max and I don’t as I like it to last longer. We went to lunch first and it was a fun afternoon. The traffic going up in the mountains was really bad going.

JL, I hope your dog isn’t too stressed tonight. We have fireworks going off like crazy around here somewhere. Our fireworks consist of the Boston Pops and Macy’s. My Texas Tenors were on Boston and sang four Songs! They’re getting more popular. I hope your night went better than you thought. Hopefully it will be done tonight.

Mary, darn men never get all the or forget what they were told. It’s frustrating. So you’re doing max’s Gardening now? How kind of you...lol. He is pretty nervy, isn’t he? I hope your friend Carol does well with her surgery.

Barb, that’s hard that your kitty won’t take her drugs. How do you get her to take them? Are all the cats getting along now? You are a busy lady.

Dianne, Chad’s cats spend most of their time in the family room, which used to be the garage, so it’s pretty big. My cats stay in my bedroom a lot, with or without me, and in the pool room. They will jump on the pool table if Chad’s cats come in there, because Chad’s cats are too old and can’t jump up there. Sometimes, if they meet in the kitchen or hall, they will get into an altercation with fur flying, but it’s rare now. So, no, they still don’t like each other. As for Mellie, I am able to give her the pill rather easily. I hold her for a few minutes and stroke her a lot. She is a cuddle bug and loves to stay on my lap. Then, I open her mouth and drop the pill, which is very small, to the back of her throat. Then I cuddle her for a while longer until I ‘m sure she swallowed it. I usually give her a treat after that. She is really good for me. Not so much any one else.

Mary, Max really does have a lot of nerve. Maybe his plants won’t survive. Next he will want you to cook something with his herbs and you supply the gross-ries!

Barb and JL, Could you feel any of the Earthquake? That is so scary.

Mary/MI said...

Dianne, I was wondering the same thing! I was about to go to bed when I saw the news.
I actually thought they were showing clips from the first quake! I heard there could be aftershocks for months! Yikes!

Barb,He is Jim's long time friend, but I think he is getting on his nerves. Jim tires easily and is easily irritated. When he speaks to Jim he has a habit of turning his head away. Jim finally told him that He & I need to be able to see his face/mouth, to better understand him. We'll see how that sinks in lol!
I have only been using the left hearing aide. When I use the other one I have to turn it down so low that I may as well leave it off! They are powerful. They amplify sounds even on low. Evidently my right ear has better hearing, or should I say "HAD". today I heard a "pop" in it and realized I had lost much hearing! I now have them both on :(
I did go shopping, and road through some hilly roads. Hopefully the hearing loss is temp. due to pressure from the hills.

I an watching to original "Wizard of Oz".

Jim turns 75 tomorrow.I have his cake hidden in my home office with gift and am making him a steak dinner tomorrow. Our humidity has been over 80%. His appetite may not be too good. He hasn't been feeling well lately.

Stay safe all!

Mary I hope your arm has recovered from all of the "romantic" activity. LOL

Okay, so what's the deal with Max? Is he some kind of gourmet cook that he requires fresh grown herbs? And if he is, why isn't he ever cooking for you? I find this very confusing. Could he have one them as some kind of door prize or something?

I hope your hearing loss in that ear is just due to mountain driving. I would guess that it is as I don't think you'd have such noticeable hearing loss so suddenly. Since you and Jim both have hearing loss, does that mean you can both mumble at each other behind each other's backs without the other one knowing? That's one way to have the last word. LOL

I hope Jim has a pleasant birthday and that he enjoys his steak dinner. 80% humidity would be very uncomfortable. I hope the weather is better today.

Dianne No, I didn't feel the earthquake as I am too far away. My brother lives in southern California, though, and he sure felt it. Actually, he felt both of them as the two quakes were just a couple of days apart. His cat felt it before he did. He didn't have any damage or anything but they were big quakes and he said the second one lasted about 30 seconds. I'm hoping it's good that the pressure got released. That sounds logical, doesn't it?

4th of July was hideous and I hated it. Even though my dog was on tranquilizers, she trembled the whole night. It's always bad because of the illegal explosions and this was wore than usual as the bomb-like explosions are happening not only one street below me as usual but new neighbors only two doors down were also setting them off. It was ridiculous. The next day seems to be when the tranquilizer hit my dog the hardest as she had glassy eyes and not completely steady on her feet. I need to see what other kind of drug I can give her next year as this one was useless during the time it was needed. It certainly didn't make her less afraid, that's for sure. I didn't watch any July 4 show that included more explosions. I did binge watch an Australian detective show with the volume turned up very loud, for all the good it did.

Barb I'm glad you can give Mellie her meds in a manner that is not stressful to her. Cats are so funny. What works with one cat won't necessarily work with another. Different methods for different cats are sometimes required. That's the nice thing about dogs. Put the med inside a treat and they'll eat it. They'll eat cat poop, too, so nuff said. LOL

It's gray and gloomy here today so far. It's probably sunny a little bit inland. There's nothing exciting on my agenda today. I should vacuum and maybe I'll do some gross-ry shopping as I have no idea what's for dinner. I wish I had a Chad here to make that decision and cook it for me.

Me fall down, go boom. LOL I was leaving to go gross-ry shopping and I tripped on one of the two steps going from my front yard up to the sidewalk. I landed mostly on the grass and didn't really hurt myself except for my knees feeling skinned in spite of the fact I was wearing jeans. I kind of rolled onto my right hip and sat side-saddle for a few minutes while the stinging in my knees subsided. I'm glad no one saw my clumsy fall. One car drove by. If the driver noticed me, perhaps they thought I always keep my purse with me while picking weeds. LOL

sacBarb said...

J/L, I’m so sorry you fell, but I did get a chuckle about keeping your purse with you while picking weeds.

Chad says Mellie takes her meds foe me because I’m the Mom. I guess she just feel safe with me. I hate that She has to take it, though.

Dianne, I didn’t feel the earthquake at all. We are pretty far north of the epicenter. The second one was much stronger and we didn’t feel that one either.

sacBarb said...

Mary, I hope it was just the altitude that affected your ear and it evens out soon. Happy Birthday to Jim tomorrow. I hope he feels better very soon.
