Wife is Missing

 by Dianne

Husband: My wife is missing. She went shopping yesterday and has not come home…

Sergeant at Police Station: What is her height?

Husband: Gee, I'm not sure. A little over five-feet tall.

Sergeant: Weight?

Husband: Don't know. Not slim, not really fat.

Sergeant: Color of eyes?

Husband: Sort of brown I think. Never really noticed.

Sergeant: Color of hair?

Husband: Changes a couple times a year. Maybe dark brown now. I can’t remember.

Sergeant: What was she wearing?

Husband: Could have been pants, or maybe a skirt or shorts. I don't  know exactly.

Sergeant: What kind of car did she go in?

Husband: She went in my truck.

Sergeant: What  kind of truck was it?

Husband: A 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch 4X4 with eco-boost 5.0L V8 engine special ordered with manual transmission and climate controlled air conditioning. It has a custom matching white cover for the  bed, which has a matching aftermarket bed liner. Custom leather  6-way seats and "Bubba" floor mats. Trail-ring package with gold hitch and special wiring hook-ups. DVD with full GPS navigation, satellite radio receiver, 23-channel CB radio, six cup holders, a USB port, and four power outlets. I added special alloy wheels and off-road Michelin's. It has custom  running boards and indirect wheel well lighting.

At this point the husband started choking  up. . .

Sergeant: Don't worry buddy. We'll find your truck.

LOL, Dianne! Jim would probably agree!!

We have been having beautiful weather. I am really hating the nights getting darker earlier :( I will have to readjust my internal clock and get things done a lot earlier. I will miss my 8-9:00 evening walks. I will be needing a flashlight for Zoie's last pee lol!
Have to get back to AGT.......

Hi Mary....don’t tell me about AGT as I’m a week behind. I’ll be catching up this week. Don’t forget the acms are on Wednesday night. Keith urban is hosting from three places in Nashville ..virtually. Lots of performers. I don’t like it getting darker early either. We went up to mtns again for lunch to meet some friends and our place was closed. I think they r only opening on weekends right now. Our friends won’t go inside a place but we found a good bbq in this little town with a nice outside patio. It was about 80 and we were in the shade so not so bad. We hadn’t seen them since before Christmas so nice to catch up. Their son joined us for awhile too. He’s a Denver policeman and knows Todd. He’s on the street so interesting to talk to.

What are the rest of you up too? I think I might have asked you all some questions on my last long post on last blog. Tmrw I’m driving up to Greeley (2 hours away) to go to lunch with my uncle. He’ll be 76 tmrw. I bought him a bottle of his favorite wine as he won’t let me buy lunch no matter what since I’m driving up there. I wish he’d meet me half way but oh well....the weather is nice so it’s not a bad ride. The broncos lost by two points in the last 17 seconds last night. It was a late game as it didn’t get over until midnight here. It was so weird watching a game without fans. I don’t like it.

Dianne Thanks for the nudge! I guess time flies even when one is not having fun. LOL

There was more than one cake to be made? I know you mentioned a pineapple one. Are they both pineapple? It sounds good. My brother's birthday is also on the 22nd. He usually makes a German Chocolate Cake for himself for his birthday but he's been limiting sugar so he was thinking he might make it but without the frosting. He makes the frosting by scratch but it seems to me there would just be no point to it without the special frosting. My mother used to make the cake for him when she was still alive so he uses her recipe for the frosting. I hope he makes it.

I suppose you were watching the CMA tonight. It's not my thing but I'm glad you enjoy it. I swear it seems like they have some kind of country music award about every 3-4 months. I'm sorry you had to cancel your TT trip. Isn't that just the way, though, that as soon as you decide to go, the whole thing gets cancelled until late in the year. Bummer!

Mary I'm worried about you going to that GM lunch. Aren't you worried about getting together with groups of people? Did they wear masks and sit 6 feet apart? Did you eat outside, at least? If it was me, I wouldn't be doing it. Then again I am at high risk to be one of the people who would not recover from COVID; old, health issues, and obese. Not a good combination. Some people have used this shelter in place time (it's been 6 months) to get serious about their dieting or exercising. I haven't done either of those things, unfortunately. The only real exercise I get is doing my PT for my shoulder, which is getting a lot better.

The other day I went grocery shopping for the first time in two weeks so there was a lot of stuff I needed to stock up on. Anyway, I checked over my list before going to checkout and saw that I forgot ice cream so I went and got it. What I didn't notice was that I also forgot chicken which was for my dinner that night. LOL Leave it to me to notice the dessert but not the entree. I made myself a BLT for dinner that night and went back to the store the next day for the chicken. I'm used to just going shopping every few days or so but I'm trying to limit my exposure to other people so shop for a lot more now. I find it annoying and tiring.

I'm glad Jim isn't getting so dizzy that he loses his balance. I hope he's staying away from other people when at the casino.

Barb When it was really hot, I think PG&E did do some rolling blackouts in some counties farther north or inland but it didn't happen here. I don't have A/C so I had to be satisfied with a wet washcloth on the back of my neck.

Yesterday and today we have had wonderful, fresh air for a change and I think it's supposed to be good for another couple of days. When we haven't had it in so long, it is really appreciated when we finally get it. Something I usually take for granted.

Since we had such good air for going out yesterday, I got in the drive-up line to get my annual flu vaccine at Kaiser. It was a long line but at least I was able to have the car windows down and enjoy the clean air. I always react to the vaccine to a certain extent. I have a swollen and flushed area about 4" x 4" around the injection site and my arm is a little sore. I go through this every year so I'm used to it. It does kind of add insult to injury since that is the same arm as my healing shoulder.

The length of my hair is bugging me a lot more than the two-tone color. When it got hot here, it was really, really bugging me to have it down on my neck. I found a couple of big hair clips in a bathroom drawer that I used to get it up off my neck. It looked stupid but I wasn't going anywhere so I didn't care.

My daughter is up where Bonnie Rae is so their air has been extra bad. She took off with her dogs to areas farther north for the week where the air is a little less horrible. She's been posting pics on FB and it look okay. She did lose the key to her Airbnb yesterday and had to call a locksmith. She thinks she lost the key when she got a poop bag out of her back pocket when she and the dogs were on a beach.

Seaside I hope you are getting a break from the smoke like we are.

JustLin, We have been meeting at the same place instead of different places like we used to. This place is across the street from where we all used to work. The place is completely torn down now. We know & trust the proprietor. The staff all wear masks. We have to wear when walking in, but take them off if we want. When our food arrives, of course, we take them off. We don't linger after lunch.
Our area, except for East Lansing, where the MSU campus is, has not had many outbreaks and I believe 9 is the total deaths, which have all been older, compromised individuals, at nursing homes. The outbreaks for the most part have been mild and not long lasting. Young adults who have been very careless and have been spreading the virus recently. They are young and just don't get it!
The campus and surrounding areas, has been put on lock-down for a few weeks.

Dianne, Thanks for the nudge. Like JL said, time flies even when we’re not having fun. It’s nice that you and Louis can get out for a drive and meet up with folks. I haven’t seen anyone except Jenn B. Who came over yesterday to drop ogg some card supplies. We’re not sure if we’re going to make any cards for this year. I may try to do some on my own, but my list is very long. I usually send out about 60 cards.

JL, so, we agree that we don’t like Tyra hosting DWTS. I’ll still watch, though. It gives me something else to gripe about. 😹 Tuesday was Chad’s birthday and I had a dentist appointment. He drove me and waited in the car and on the way home we stopped at a Korean restaurant and picked up some chicken wings and fries and then stopped at a really good bakery and I got him a decadent black forest cake. OMG it is soooo good and worth the $40 price tag. We ended up eating the chicken pretty late, almost 9:00, because we had a late lunch. Then about 11:30 he said “we better eat some birthday cake now. If we wait too much longer it won’t be birthday cake anymore, it’ll just be cake!” LOL I never eat anything that late because I have trouble sleeping if I do, but I decided I had to at least try the cake! I took two bites then I had a generous piece the next day!

Mary, I wish I had the energy to plant some veg for summer. My Hubby always had a garden for summer. He was ver good at growing things. I’m not! Our air has cleared up a little, but its still not good. It hasn’t been as hot and that helped also. The ac hasn’t been running constantly. I’m glad Jim isn’t as dizzy as he was. How is Raquel doing? Has Matthew been in close contact with the other drivers that are sick? I hope not!

Ugh! I just lost my comment to SacBarb...twice! I forgot to switch from Jim's Gmail account! I wondered why I was losing my posts!!
It has been a long and tedious day! Hours I will never get back!
Jim somehow locked himself out of his phone! He had his phone on the table at breakfast and noticed an update of some sort and said " I don't know what this is. I guess I will just update" I said "Don't! too late he did! I have been on the phone with Verizon and Apple. I have been to the Verizon store and the Apple store 40 miles away! I got it unlocked, but still can't g et in. It is not accepting his password or icloud info! He has lost all his contacts to boot! I have been working on his phone all day, made pizza, and back at it again! I didn't have the tv on and didn't even know about Ruth B. Ginsburg's death until Matthew came and told me! How very sad. What a loss! She was a fighter!

I will be back later to re-do my earlier post.

Hi...happy Sunday. Broncos lost their quarterback and game again today. It was pretty close with a back up quarterback but....Sounds like a lot of different team players were hurt today. Not much too new here.
JL, yes there were two different cakes. She made the pina colada cake today for Louis bday Tuesday. The other one was pumpkin latte. Louis said it was ok with whip cream. He was looking for frosting! Your brothers cake sounds good. How old will he be? Louis will be 73. I’m a little older than him. Yes, I watched the CMASand they were very good but once again I was missing the audiences. It was so weird to see the Grand Old Opry empty after we’ve been there a couple of times. I wonder if we will ever go again? Now I’m getting depressed. Time to change the subject. Glad your shoulder is getting better. Is your flu shot site better now? We had ours a couple of weeks ago too. Louis is having knee and hip issues..not good.

Mary, did you get Jim’s phone fixed? It sounded like quite a time consuming mess. Our CU campus is on lock down too because of so many parties. The students can be put out of school for going to them and frat houses are getting power turned off if they continue to have them. I think it’s sounds safe for you lunch. How many of you go? I feel pretty safe In restaurants too as long as they social distance the tables. Most call of them do where I’ve gone. How’s Matthew doing with the bus driving and the kids? How did your lions do today? Did I tell you all that Louis got a walking stick? He wasn’t thrilled but maybe it will keep him upright.

Barb, you still have a lot of smoke? We still have quite a bit. On my drive to Greeley last week I couldn’t be even see the mountains. I had a nice drive there. I called my cousin for awhile on Bluetooth and then I like to just drive and hike that radio up and sing. Sounds like you’d better get card making if you have 60 to make. I love Black Forest cake..yum! Better than a Ww cake for sure. We are going out with another couple for an early dinner tmrw night to celebrate Louis’s bday. They were busy Tuesday night. Andy invited Louis to a nice place for lunch on Tuesday so he’s looking forward to going. Hopefully he will eat a lot and not be hungry for dinner...lol. I had lunch with Kayla today. Her bday is in a couple of weeks. There are ten of us and I can’t find anything that will let us sit at one table except our stand by Mexican place. She wanted Italian but I’ve tried three places now. I was just happy she came to lunch..on time...and on a Sunday!

That’s about it. Hi seaside. Miss you on fb..any news on it or updates? Hope you’re doing well. I think your raiders play tomorrow night. I didn't watch much football today. I will watch your game (and barbs) tomorrow night. I can’t exactly say I’ll be cheering for the raiders though (sorry).

Dianne, After getting the run around for two days I managed to get Jim a working phone! I had to get him a new on not Apple. Apple was what messed him up. I went early this morning to the Verizon store. Only one person in front of me....1 1/2 hrs later It was my turn! Can you believe I stood that long? I couldn't have done it before my 2nd surgery!
It only took about 20 minutes to set up Jim's new phone.I have been trying to get his phone contacts in. Some, I have, so pretty easy. I wish I could say all went smooth lol!
There was one problem. We couldn't open it when someone called. We pushed the right button over & over! It is different than my Apple. I tried calling the agent back, but it seems it was blocked soooooo there I went, back to the store! Thank goodness no one was there ahead of me. He called Jim's number and I couldn't open it. He kind of chuckled and said, "You have to swipe it to the right! Well duh! It didn't show that option like it does on my phone! I told him I could have saved myself a trip if his phone was available! He said he was getting too many calls so he locked it up! Geesh!
I wouldn't have waited in line that long if it wasn't for Jim's health and his going to the casino tomorrow. He was without a phone for almost a week. I made him carry one of those alarms that screech when you pull the pin, in case he was in trouble.

I just made a pork-chop dinner with red potatoes and beans. I am sooo done!!

Dianne, I didn’t watch any football on Sunday, but I did watch the Raiders game in the new stadium last night. It was a good game, especially because the Raiders won. I really like the new stadium, but I’m not too impressed with the torch thing. It’s kinda gimmicky, but then it is Las Vegas! It’s kind of weird watching a game with no fans. Chad said they have the canned crowd noise so the TV viewers don’t hear the inappropriate language from the field! LOL One thing about the non-players wearing masks, they don’t have to hold a clip board in front of their face when talking to players and each other! I did notice that not all of them wore a mask and apparently the league fined others $100,000 for not complying with that mandate! I hope they continue to fine them.

Mary, I saw the pic of the tortilla you posted on FB and it made me hungry. My husband had an employee whose Mom brought homemade tortillas to our glass shop for all the employees, every Friday. For the 10 years we had the shop, we were never without tortillas in our house for more than two days. I only tried to make them twice and both times were an epic fail! LOL

JL, I read a couple of articles about Tyra hosting DWTS and the reviews are mixed, but a lot of people don’t like her. I wonder if she’ll last more than one season! They took something that wasn’t broken and tried to fix it. That’s my opinion, anyway.

Hi everyone. I am very distracted right now because my dog is having a bad day. I really don't now if it's her back or back leg, or if it's a belly. She was fine when we went to bed last night. I was up and in the kitchen before her so I didn't see her jump off the bed. It's possible something went awry when she did. Usually, she bounds out the back door with a bark then goes down the stairs to the yard to do her business. Today she drank a bunch of water first then went outside slowly and laid down in the sun. I got busy refilling a hummingbird feeder and putting birdseed and nuts out for the critters. When she and I went back in, it occurred to me that I didn't see her go down in the yard so I went with her out to the front yard, yes, in my nightgown and robe. Anyway, she did a large pee and a big poop. She didn't want breakfast which is totally not like her and a while later she vomited. After a couple of hours, I saw her go down the deck stairs slowly and she did more peeing and had diarrhea then she slowly started coming back up the steps. She got about 3/4 of the way up and started slipping backwards. I rushed down and managed to get behind her and help her get up the last few steps. She's been very quiet since then but we did go out front another time and she peed some more. As she walked slowly across the yard, her back leg went into a gopher hole. She pulled it out okay but she sure didn't need to have that happen. I'm sure you're all enthralled with this post that has way too much information. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Mary I'm glad you and your former co-workers are as safe as you can be for your luncheons. We still aren't able to dine inside at restaurants. I do get take out from my famous local places when I can as I really don't want them to go out of business. Once of the places is a Mexican restaurant that makes the best shrimp fajitas. I had that one night early in the week. It was a nice break from the pot roast I had made and then was eating for 3 nights in a row. LOL That was a lot of trouble you had to go to for Jim's phone. Glad he's now set up with a new one.

Dianne Both of the cakes sound tasty. One of my FB friends posted a pic of a Bundt cake she made that uses one box white cake mix, 3 eggs and a can of apple pie filling. It looked so pretty and sounded very tasty. During this pandemic, my friend who I used to go out to dinner with periodically, now just invites me to dinner and I bring dessert. I might have to get a Bundt cake pan to make that cake. I used to have a Bundt pan but I threw it away because I was never making Bundt cakes. It figures that I would want it back.

My daughter is dieting and basically only eating meat and vegetables so tonight I am making a vegetable soup from WW. I do add a can of tomatoes to it and sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on it. It makes a lot so there will be plenty for lunch if we so choose. My Android phone is so old now that it is not compatible with the WW app. Boo hoo!

Barb I wasn't exactly watching your Raiders game but it was on the TV so I know that they won in a very big way. Congrats on that. I missed the 49er game where so many players got hurt, including our QB. Players got hurt on both teams and there was a lot of talk about the fake turf field and how it's better than the old Astro-turf but still really bad to play one. With so many getting hurt, you'd think they'd not use that stuff.

I'm biting the bullet and have a hair appointment for next Friday. I'm just going to get it cut, not dyed. I'll hang out with gray hair for a month or two and decide if I can live with it or not. I suspect I will land on the "not" side of things but we'll see. Our nail salons are finally open but I haven't done anything about that, yet.

sacBarb said...

JL, I made an appointment to get my hair cut and colored, but after a discussion with Chad, I cancelled it. I haven’t been feeling that great and he convinced me I should wait. As he said, it only takes one person to spread the virus and my salon is at the back of a beauty supply store and as careful as they are with the hair clients, it’s still a bit of a crap shoot having customers come and go. So, since I’m not really going anywhere, I guess I can continue to wait on the hair. My nails are looking a little better since I have been keeping the base coat and color polish on them. They have grown a little. Did I mention that Sheenah has closed the shop for good? She was still having to pay rent, but the hairdressers were giving her a hard time about paying her, even though they have been doing clients hair at their homes. She was trying to help them by only asking for partial rent from them, and she wasn’t doing any nails, so she just said “that’s it, I’m done!” When it’s safe, she’ll probably do some of us long term clients at her home. I’ve been going to her since 1985! She says we’ve been holding hands for 35 years.
I’m so sorry Ursula is feeling poorly. I hope it’s nothing serious.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I still haven’t started on Christmas cards. Don’t be too shocked if you get a store bought card this year! I just don’t know if I can get up enough motivation to get them done.
We had a beautiful day today, with the smoke finally cleared, then a building downtown caught fire from spontaneous combustion and now there’s a lot of black smoke in the air! The ugghhh!

sacBarb said...

Mary, wow, what a pain to go through all that for a phone. I understand how important it for Jim to have a working phone, though. It gives you some peace of mind knowing he can get someone in case of emergency. When my husband died, I felt very insecure because I had always had him to rely on in emergencies. I decided to get a pager ( this was before phones were so available) for me and Todd so I could get in touch with him, even when he was at school. I rarely used it, but I felt a little more secure knowing I had that option.

Dianne said...

JL, so sorry about Ursula. Know I’mThinking about you Xxoo

Mary/MI said...

JustLin.I have been thinking of you today. I never met your sweet Ursala, but I feel your pain. I enjoyed reading about her and you walks. {{{Hugs}}} to you.
I have been hugging Zoie extra hard all day.
SacBarb, wow, it's been a long time since I have heard "pager" lol. We have advanced big time. I wonder if peeps misplaced the pagers like we do our phones.
My girlfriend Sylvia, posted today that she lost her phone somewhere in the Meijer parking lot. After inspecting the whole lot, she went home and got on the "Find my phone" app. It showed it was still in the parking lot. She found it in the cart she had used.
Dianne, Are you going to buy that purse? It sure was purdy :)

Dianne where are you ??

Mary/MI said...

Seaside. How have you been? I keep busy getting my yard ready for winter. Some of my plants will have to come in. It's starting to get cold!!!
Check in kiddo!

Dianne said...

Mary...Here I am! Well, I didn’t get that coach purse but another one...like I need one! You convinced me! It’s a little cooler here this week too. I’m ok with it as long as no snow! We are going to take a ride to the mountains on Wednesday just to see the changing of the colors. How’s Jim doing? Any more dizzy spells?

JL, thinking of you. Is your daughter at your place? I guess for some reason from you last post it sounded as though she was there.

Barb, that’s nice that your hairdresser is going to continue doing your hair at home. I keep thinking I should switch to Kayla but my girl is so close and doesn’t cost as much as Kayla's salon. She keeps trying to have me be a model for a haircut but it’s too short for me even though my hair is short. How are you feeling? What’s been going on with you? Ok...I’ll be watching for my Christmas card in three months. It’s hard to believe it’s only three months away. I think we’re all ready to put 2020 behind us.

My friend from Wyoming came to meet me for lunch. I drive an hour and she drives about 1-1/2 hours. We are trying to get our visiting before bad weather starts for both of us. We are still having smoke here from everywhere. Weekend was quiet. I kind of crashed a lunch with Tammy and two of her work friends. It ended up being really fun and they we’re really nice and funny too. I was glad tam included me. She’s their manager and It was one of their birthdays. Barb and I went to our favorite Mexican place for steak and eggs on Sunday. Yum!

That’s about it. Seaside, I tried to text you the other day but I must have the wrong phone number. Hope you’re doing good.
