I adore Bocelli!!
Merry Christmas everyone!!
This sure was a quiet day compared to other Christmases! I hope we never have to see the likes of it again!
We got our white Christmas! First snow that has stayed around. It is coming down in slowly in big fluffy like flakes.Beautiful!
Ok, is it spring yet lol!
I am so grateful for FB & FB videos! I was able to connect with many family members.
I haven't heard back from my Niece about my sister. It is all I can do n ot to constantly nag her about it! I hope she understands how concerned we are and would like updates.

I hope you are all well and managing to enjoy the Holiday in spite of the currant conditions.
Love you all and your fur family!

Barb, I went back to area 51 and noticed I didn't comment back about the tamale tradition. As you well know there is a lot of work that goes into making them! Our Church used to do it every Christmas. It took an assembly line like you mentioned. I am sure you didn't cook the meat like we did. They would buy a cow's head, bury it in the ground and cook it for hours. The meat would come out super tender. You'd be surprised how much meat came out of that head.
I have never made them on my own. We always have a Mexican meal, which is what I made for Christmas Eve. Matthew wanted out reg. Fri. pizza tradition tonight lol! I can do that :)

Hi Everyone ......boy, those tamales sound like quite a job. I don’t care for them. Mary, I’ll bet your Mexican meal on CHRISTMAS Eve was really good. We did Chinese that night. We had turkey and ham at Andy and Wendy’s yesterday. They get them both at honey baked ham. I don’t care for the turkey from there. It’s all breast (I like dark meat) but it just tastes different to me. Everyone else seems to like it but I’d rather have a good old fashioned turkey. We had all the trimmings with it. We had a nice day there with tam, james and the kids. They got a lot of gifts from everyone. They live in the mountains and their house was decorated so pretty. It’s a really curvy road and I didn’t like coming home on it in the dark. Louis does fine but I get scared he will miss a curve. I was glad to get home. We did our Christmas when we got home.

Today I went to a restaurant that you sit in a little ice fishing hut. My friend pat and i went and had our Christmas. It was fun being in the little hut. It was 60 today so a couple of the windows were open and then there’s a little heater in there too. It was different and our restaurants are not open inside so it was fun. You have to get reservations like three weeks in advance. I’m going next week too.

So, what did everyone do yesterday? How did your ham turn out, JL? Pizza for Mary and didn’t you have prime rib, barb? I love prime rib.

I was peeking in briefly on the raider game. How did it end up! I thought we played them tmrw but it’s next week. We have more injuries and play the chargers tmrw. We’re going to my sons for dinner and Christmas tomorrow. I was waiting on a last gift for my middle grandson and it said it was delivered today but it wasn’t ...irritates me! I took a picture of it and I’ll wrap that for him. I’ll probably end up mailing it to him since I don’t see them very much.

Well, that’s about it for me. Hope you all had a nice day yesterday. Seaside, how did munchkin like his shirt?

Well, here I am checking in today. It was dentist cleaning today and no cavities or anything...only a cleaning. Finally! I go every three months. It didn’t cost me a dollar for once. How’s everyone doing? I think I asked all my questions in my last post. Mary, I think you’re getting some snow from us but we barely had any..just cold.

Almost New Years Eve....remember the days of going out and having fun? I think we will order out and drive around early looking at Christmas lights.

Hope you’re all doing well

I don’t see Seaside either.

Hi ya all.....Hope Christmas was great and New Years will be sooooo good!!

Dianne I'm so happy to hear you and Louis are feeling better. Keep being safe and stay healthy even though it's not easy to do these days. My RAIDERS play the Broncos this week and as far as it being an easy win it doesn't mean anything big time at this point. We so blew it last weekend so we are out of it. But I still watch (ALL teams) and love it. I love it when they play each other. I about laughed myself silly when you said it was so wonderful that you were done with quarantine.....BUT there wasn't anywhere to go! So true.

Barb I can't wait to hear what Chad and Todd think of the RAIDERS shirts! My Munchkin thought it was really great. I love it so much and just really want them to make a woman's one. I probably have 10 shirts and they have spaghetti straps because I don't like shirts that go almost to my knee and most the shoulders are way to big. I need to do a lot of sewing when I buy a regular t-shirt and I don't want to have to go through all that. I've been hunting Oakland RAIDERS stuff because I know it will be impossible to find pretty soon.

Mary I'm really sorry to hear about your sister. I can't imagine having to move her around like that, such a sad thing to do. Is she doing well now since contracting Covid? It must be hard living so far away but if you were there you wouldn't be able to visit anyway. Such difficult times for us all. I hope it gets better and doesn't take years and years to see a better way of life.

JL Oh my gosh did you bring back some memories for me! I remember when I was a little girl my mom made Bourbon Balls. My dad loved them and would eat those things like crazy. Of course us kids weren't allowed to eat them but when I got older and had one I thought they were horrible LOL! I'm glad your daughter has been there with you, I bet it's been fun. Did ya all do your art work? I think I told you that I have driven from my house to Oregon a few times and love that drive. It's so cute your daughter will stay over and keep her babies safe and hopefully with no noises going on. Yes my Gidget is a wreck when fireworks go off. The last couple weeks we've been hearing a few. These people really make me mad, poor babies get so scared. Gidget clings to my neck most of the time and does a lot of pacing back and forth between the back of the toilet and the back of the couch. I just want to go out there and knot them in the head. Will you be home New Years Eve? Does it get noisy at your house? I'm hoping it doesn't get to bad here.

Munchkin and I had a really fun Christmas day. He spoils me terribly and got me way to many things. Gidget had fun opening her presents and I don't remember her ever being this excited before. BTW--we NEVER says presents. We say gifts, otherwise her head turns sooooo fast and she is ready. It was fun finally asking her if she wanted a present, it was hysterical. Hoping ya all have a happy new years and it goes and goes alllll year long. Be happy----hugs and love ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’›

Dianne, The Raiders lost the game in the last minutes. Their defense sucked. Carr was back from his injury, but he wasn’t at his best. Chad said it was a typical season ender for them! ๐Ÿ˜ข we just keep hoping!
We will have a typical New Year’s Eve. Staying home, doing nothing, and grazing on snacks all day and into the evening.

Mary, when I helped with the tamales, the meat was already prepared to put in them. I’m not sure how it was cooked. The women who prepared everything were the Grandmother and Mother of one of our employees at the time. He said she did everything “old school” but I didn’t ask any details.

JL, I bet you were happy to have your daughter and her fur kids there. Our day was very quiet. I watched some Hallmark movies and Chad watched some detective shows on another TV. The Prime rib turned out perfectly and he brought early dinner to Marie. She has been getting food delivered to her from the County Dept. of Aging every week. She doesn’t know who referred her, and they said they couldn’t tell her. I had called a long time ago, but at that time I was told she wasn’t eligible. So I don’t know how she is now eligible, but I am glad. I had to keep telling her she couldn’t go to the store because of the stay at home order, and she keeps forgetting about that. Luckily, her car battery is dead.

Seaside, My kitties didn’t care about opening packages, but they liked the catnip toys. We’ve already had some fireworks noises, but they don’t seem to bother the fur kids, thankfully. I’m sure the guys will like the Raiders shirts, but they won’t arrive until Jan. 8. I saw some shirts for women, but none with spaghetti straps! ๐Ÿ˜ข

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone. ❤️

Here I am again.......In the right place this time! If I only had a brain........

Dianne It sounds like your Christmas and meal were really good. I was picturing sitting in a hut for a meal. ???? I bet it's fun though and something to do.

Mary Your White Christmas sounds so pretty and cozy. I have NO idea what it's like. I've been in the snow just one time in my whole life. Of course those of us that don't live in the snow think it's great but I know it's a lot of work too.

Ok.....I'm done lol ❤ Night ya all...smooches๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿถ

Mary Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your sister is recovering well.

Is it still snowing there? I have very limited experience with snow. I think it has only snowed on me once and that was when I was visiting Idaho. There were a couple of times in my life where I was somewhere where there was some snow on the ground. I think living in it when it snows heavily would really be difficult. I guess you learn how to deal with it, though.

I'm afraid I didn't get tamales, either. I do have some black-eyed peas to cook for New Year's Day, though. I think that's a southern tradition which is supposed to bring good luck in the new year. Lordy, we all need as much good luck as possible.

It was really nice to have my daughter here for 10 days. I'll be missing her dogs, too, Pico and Sookie.

Dianne I think the meal in the fishing hut sounds different and fun. That would be one of the more positive experiences to come out of the pandemic restrictions.

Our dinner plans changed as we got closer to Christmas. My HoneyBaked ham got delivered several days earlier than expected so we ended up having a ham dinner two nights before Christmas and then we got lobster tails from a local restaurant for Christmas Eve dinner. For dinner on Christmas, my daughter made us New York steaks. A few days ago I used the HoneyBaked ham recipe for ham and potato soup. It was delicious! At some point we had ham sandwiches, too. Now I have two packets of sliced ham in the freezer along with the bone. I've never had the turkey from them but I don't think I would care for it, either, even though I am a white meat person. There's nothing like a fresh, roasted turkey.

I'm so glad you, Louis, and Tammy are feeling better and able to leave the house again. Did James ever get COVID? Besides being here with me, my daughter got together with a couple of her friends a couple of times during her visit. They're all very careful but I will not be having dinner with my friends Kathy and Lee, for at least 10 days.

Seaside My daughter made the bourbon balls and her best friend made Kahlua balls. I like the bourbon ones the best.

My daughter and her dogs left today and will be spending two nights at a place not to far from Redding. The purpose of that is to be out in a forested area away from the noise of fireworks on New Year's Eve. Her dogs get very upset with the noise. My dog used to, also. It's very difficult for us dog owners. At least it's something you can plan for. Around here, some jerk seems to feel he should set off some kind of explosive periodically, just for the hell of it as well as when his favored team wins a game. It's very inconsiderate, in my opinion. Even before the pandemic, I'd be staying home on New Year's Eve. I don't want to be out with the drunk people. There was a time when my husband was still alive that we would go to a nice local restaurant for dinner and dancing. Those were fun times. It was only about 3 miles away so that was certainly a plus.

Barb That's good that Marie is getting food deliveries. Maybe the pandemic made the county rethink their criteria so they could keep more of the elderly at home.

My daughter was watching Bachelorette along with you and I and she asked when will the Bachelor start. She said she's disgusted with herself for being totally hooked at this point. LOL She resisted it for years.

With me needing to replace the water heater recently, plus paying for a shield to be installed over my new catalytic converter, and paying property taxes, I told my daughter to not over spend on me as I was having to cut back this year. Well, she didn't listen to me and she really over did it with gifts. She got me some really nice stuff and some helpful stuff. She over bought for her dogs, too.

So we started on our paint by numbers. It is very tedious and time consuming. The pictures are 16 x 20 and some of the areas are so tiny, I have to use a magnifying glass to read what the number is. Why, oh why, did she choose to have this made from a photo where I am wearing an intricately patterned top? I'm going to go blind doing this. LOL

Made it back from my eye Dr. It was a bit slick until I got to the highway. By then the snow had quit. No problem getting home. Dr changed my eye drop px. He says my eye pressure is still a bit high. He has changed px before, but most had side affects. Hoping these drops work.

JL, Living in Mich. in the winter can be hard sometimes. You do learn to stock up on groceries and have snow shovels, snow blowers and snow plows gassed up and ready to roll. If we get a lot of snow I have to shovel Zoie a place to do her business lol! She loves the snow. I had a hard time getting her to come in last night. She was running back & forth on the patio. Happy as can be until I spoiled her fun and made her come in.

We will be staying home for NYE. Kind of sad. We always went out to dinner with my bro. in law and Jim's sister. She passed last winter, but we still met with "Ken". He was happy we continued the tradition. This year, we are not allowed in any restaurants. I feel bad for him. I really don't want to put on a dinner here, so I have not asked him. He tends to be a cough er and never covers his mouth, so I am leery of him being here. It's bad enough having to scold Jim with his smoker's cough! Men!!
I am on my 5th week of "Fast, Feast & Repeat" It's a book I have been reading. I can see now why I have been unable to lose weight. I have lost just short of 10lbs since I started, the day after Thanks Giving. I only eat once a day, not a drop of anything until my "eating window" opens. You can choose when you want to eat and how long you want your "window of eating" to be. I fast from 6pm until the next day at 3:00pm. I stop at 6. Most have longer eating times some less. The nice thing is that you are not restricted to what you eat. I eat as I normally have, even a cookie or piece of cake. It has taken me a few days to figure out no to eat too much too fast...It can go right through you, if you know what I mean lol! I love this fasting thing. Seems so natural for me. Hope it stays that way. There is a private blog/wall on FB for advanced "fasters" It is called "Delay,Don't Deny"support group. You have to answer 3 questions to prove you have read the books and kind of know what you are talking about. So many before and after pictures & testimonials.Pretty encouraging.
Well enough of advertising lol!!
Later. my eating window is almost coming to a close and may grab a small snickers :)

Good morning. It’s 5:06am here. I woke up at 2:15 wide awake. I made some tea, looked at fb, listening to Christmas music. I’m for sure going to have to take a nap to be awake at midnight tonight to be sure 2020 is gone! We have no plans but we will eat some snacks , have a Baileys and toast in the new year. Amen to that.

Good job Mary on your weight loss and sticking to the fasting. I don’t know if I could do that or not. A least you can eat what you want. We didn’t send all that snow to you...just flurries from here. Glad you got to the eye dr safely.

Looks like we have been moved to phase one for our covid vaccine anyone over 70 ...on the news today. We also may open restaurants monday to a minimum but at least inside. It’s making it so hard for these places to try and have outside dining with our weather.

JL, yes, James got covid too and had to take ten days off work but was never sick...no symptoms at all. Yum, all your dinners sound delicious. At least work paid him. Ahh, the good old days of going out dancing and dinner for New Year’s Eve. Just to go to dinner would be nice. We are going to my childhood friends house on New Year’s Day for lunch. It’s about a two drive to get there. So what fun things did your daughter get you for Christmas? I got a new iPad from Louis and a few other things. The kids give us a two night gift certificate every year for Estes park in the mountains. It’s from Tammy, James , Andy and Wendy.

We spent Sunday with my son Todd and family. It was so nice to spend the afternoon with the kids. I just don’t get to see them that much. I think everyone liked their gifts. Liane fixed a great pasta dinner.

Seaside and barb....this is the big week game. Be ready to celebrate your win. I Don’t sound like a very good bronco fan, do I? I think we might get first round draft choice...that’s how bad we are for the last five years. I think we will see some management changes this year. So put on your raider shirts and just think of sad me sort of watching the game.

Hmm, what will I do now. It’s going to be a long day I think

Dianne, I was conked out last night. I have been sleeping better since my fasting journey. I hope you can nap and escort/kick the year 2020 out out the door!!

I would say it can't get much worse, but you know how that can go, so ssshhh lol!!
I am enjoying watching back to back "Thin man" movies. Need to get the sheets off the beds and washed. I have been a bit lazy this morning. I have fed the birds, Zoie, and Jim, so there is that lol!
Not sure what will be on tv NYE wise, tonight. I will channel surf. It sure will be weird. I wonder if anyone is doing parades this year.

Happy New Year Everyone. It will be good to kick 2020 to the curb!

Mary, Chad and I have been doing the IF thing, too, but we haven’t read the book. We kinda fell into this pattern, not really planning it. I actually didn’t know there was a book, but I am going to order it. Chad and I have been sleeping later for a while now and neither of us likes to eat when we first get up, so that how we sorta “fell” into eating once per day. I think it evolved from staying home and not having to get up at a certain time to go anywhere! Chad and I have both lost weight. I’m sure I wasn’t doing it “right” because there are times where I drink tea or coffee during the day. I’m glad to know it’s a real thing!

Dianne, Another reason I have been sleeping later is because I also wake up at odd hours during the night and can’t get back to sleep for a long time. I really hate it! I also went to the dentist yesterday for a cleaning, but I had to have three fillings repaired. They were all in the front teeth and over the years had worn down significantly. It was easy because I didn’t need a shot! Yayyy! As for the Raiders Bronco game, it’s probably a crap shoot. We have lost games we should have won, soooo ...

Seaside, I got an email that the shirts will be here on January 8th. I can’t wait. Of course, then I have to mail Todd’s to San Diego, but Chad will get his right away! I’ll keep you posted on his reaction.

JL, One of these days I’m going to have to get a Honey Baked ham. I don’t think I have ever tasted one. It makes me hungry to read about your meals with it, even the soup. You’ll have to show us a picture of your paint by number project when it’s done. I haven’t seen those that were made from a photo. It should keep you busy for a while. It’ll be fun watching the bachelor with Liz joining in on the conversation.

Happy almost New Year!! counting down.......

JL So nice your daughter got to visit with friends while she was staying with you. Sounds like ya all had some yummy dinners too. I hope when you post pictures of your fun paintings you'll send it out in a text too cause I won't be able to admire them on FB ๐Ÿ˜” We'll be home tonight just like you.

Mary I LOVE it when you talk about precious Zoie playing in the snow. I so wish I could see her do that, I think it's great. Hug her....again!...for me. Glad you got to and from your appointment with no problems. AND hope your new drops work well. I been interested listening to ya all about your fasting and find it so interesting. It wouldn't work for me because my blood sugar is soooooo low. When I get up I eat about a hand full of cereal and milk and then about 1 or 2pm I start to get a little drifty and usually eat some fruit. Scares me how low my level gets sometimes, I just don't get hungry so I forget.

Dianne Yeah like Barb said....We sure have lost some games and seem to be so so good at
losing it at the very end. But that Broncos RAIDERS game is going to be fun to watch. NO tears....ya never know.

Barb Good you got the message that the shirts are on the way. Which one did you get, helmet or skull, or one of each? I'm nosy LOL! For sure let us know what your sons think of them.

Well ya all it's 5:30 and I guess I should get all ready for midnight. HaHaHa....like I'm going partying. not I never was much of a going out for new years, rather stay home and watch all the ding-a-lings clustered together in times square. Not this year though. It will be a lot different watching it this year but I still will. Hoping for quiet as possible around here. There was football all day today, tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday! So I am in football heaven! SO love it.
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE from me and my Gidget....smooches ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿถ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ
