HEALTH MESSAGE FOR THE RETIRED

by Sac Barb

As I was lying in bed pondering the problems of the world, I realized that I don't really give a rat's hiney. It's the tortoise life for me!

1. If walking is good for your health, the mail carrier would be immortal.

2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water, and is fat.

3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.

4. A tortoise doesn't run and does nothing, yet it lives for 450 years.

And you tell me to exercise?? I don't think so. I'm retired. Go around me.

BARB - Run my ass off everyday....especially around the 20 somethings I work with!!! But I don't know any other way!! I promise not to trip over you ;)

Good Morning Jodi, Don't trip over me either. I am a tortoise these days. I can't believe how busy I was 20 years ago.

Loved your blog Bar.

I am hibernating and resting my eye. The sparks haven't settled down yet but I am told they will.

Have a great day everyone.

Mornin Beautiful Jodi and Tinka!

I am def. a slow mover today!
I need to find some motivation!
I think I have found me some....
I am watching a tv bit on Andre Bocelli, the blind tenor. I adore him. He is blind and still manages to ride horses, sky dive, bike ride, Rollerblade and practice singing every day! He has such a gust for life that I am ashamed to be complaining. I will now take my sorry arse to the newly redecorated family room in the basement and get on my treadmill :)

K, I lied, I am checking my FB first LOL!!!

HOdi Good morning! You are the brightest and most beautiful once again today! I need to run my ass off. It gets bigger and bigger as I sit.

Mary/MI said...

Justlin, lol!!!

Zona, did you win the Mega-million lottery?? Someone in Arizona did, and you are MIA!!!

Just_Lin said...

Tinka I'm glad you are taking it easy. I hope those sparks go away soon.

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb I think being a tortoise is my natural state of being. It comes so natuarally to me. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Mary Hmmm....you certainly have a point. Gee, maybe Zona won the Power Ball and will take us all on a trip. LOL @ you lying about getting on the treadmill.

Jodi, You are the early bird again or for you I guess it's late. But you are today's beauty, nonetheless. Thanks for not running me over.

Tinka, I hope your eye clears up quickly.

Mary, Just going down the stairs and back up again would be exercise enough for me.

J/L, I think being a tortoise is my natural state, too.

OK, truth be told, since I've been on this diet I really do exercise, but I also hate it. People have told me how it invigorates them to exercise, but I've never felt that. I mostly feel pain and it makes me tired.

I just got a message from Chad and he won $18 on the Powerball with 17 other people from work. He said "I was gonna quit my job, but I didn't want to be one of 'those' guys that hits the lottery and quits his job. I'm trying to stay humble." What a guy I raised!

It was fun to have him here after my surgery. He made me laugh every day.

Cali doesn't participate in the Powerball, but I just heard on the news that 58 people have tickets that are worth $1M, so those of you that played, check your tickets carefully.

J/L The Cali Lottery Commission is now considering joining the fray that is the Powerball. Maybe next time it will be one of us that wins.

BARB: In my case..worrying about problems gives me plenty of exercise.. ;)

JODI: I could never promise not to trip over anyone or anything..it's inevitable.. ;)

TINKA: Get as much rest as you can..you'll have to put some stuff on hold for awhile. Don't worry..it will all be there when you feel better! :)

MARY: No..no win for me! Did you think I was hiding under the bed clutching the winning ticket? :D They are saying the ticket was purchased in Fountain Hills..sheesh..just what someone that lives there needs..more money! HA!

J/LIN: If I had won I WOULD take you all on a trip..just not a cruise.. ;)

BARB: LOL@ Chad!! He had us cracking up when he would update us on your progress after surgery..he definitely has your sense of humor! :)

I checked my ticket twice..not one number matched..NOT ONE..where's the luck of the Irish when you need it? I'd even take the luck of the Russians..maybe that's the problem..lol..

SacBarb I definitely don't feel invigorated doing my physical therapy type exercises. They are a real drag! I usually feel good after going to Curves, though. Maybe the difference is the music and also the running in place I do on those stations they have between the machines. Those pads or whatever you want to call them, have a bit of give to them so it feels better than running on a completely hard surface. Peppy music that you enjoy really helps you get into it.

Zona Well, phooey! Someone who lives in Arizona has won a butt load of money....you live in Arizona, therefore you are the closest I will get to winning a Power Ball Lottery.

Thanks for all the blog posts, everybody~

I'm thinking we are going to have to set up a room in the manor as an infirmary/rehab~ Does that sound like a plan?~ :)~

I got to go to the dentist today...the left side of my mouth has been killing me since Monday, but I couldn't go to the dentist til today cuz I've been werking 12 hr days since they've been offering overtime.....well hot damn....I'm scheduled for a root canal on tuesday....yay me!~

On a fantabulous note....I did git a prescription for lortab out of it....so like me to look at the bright side~ :)~

Tina~in_ut said...

by the way....have I mentioned that I absolutely love Michael's sister, Janet....she is a hoot and a half~

...and something else I've been meaning to tell you....and Michael meant to tell you a while ago and I don't think he ever did....he did actually believe in God. I remember someone eluded to the fact that he didn't, and while I was in Texas he looked at me, and with eyebrow raised, he said, "I really do have to straighten that out, don't I?!" We talked about Heaven and God....he looked forward to seeing his Mother and Lisa. He was sure he wouldn't see his father....I explained that he would....and if he kept thinking like that....he'd being seeing the devil!!!~ He said that only the good die young....so I asked him why he was going~ (I got the stink eye for that one!) :)~ In "real life" he actually got really mad if someone questioned his faith. It was understandable here....he came from a VERY Christian family...I told his sisters that he was Catholic now....they didn't say a werd~ Anyway....wanted u to know...he's playing the piano in Heaven now~ (they did let him in!)

Tina Ouch! Sorry about the upcoming root canal. Yes, we do need a room just for the sick and recovering. At the rate we're going, I think we would all be in it at the same time for one reason or other.

Thank you for letting us know about Michael's faith. I'm glad he had that and I hope it gave him some comfort.

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi....well, I will go to the room until I have the baby!!! Yesterday was horrible....today I feel much better. I hope it lasts.

Tina, sorry about a root canal. Yuck. I hope the meds work until Tuesday. I think we should have a pill buffet. We all have lots to bring to the party...or we could have an auction.

Zona, darn so close to the lotto winner. Did you even buy a ticket? We didn't buy any and are sad we lost. :)

Barb and JL, I feel good when I'm at pt doing exercises but not so much at home. It's hard to get myself to even do them. I wish I could go to pt every day just to keep motivated.

Mary, you are always so lucky that I'm surprised you didn't win.

Jodi, congrats on being first. You are so dang cute up there this morning.

Tink, rest those eyes. Maybe your family can come and help decorate your house. I'm trying to get mine to come wrap presents.

Dianne/Denver said...

Tina, that is interesting about Michael. I never knew quite what he believed. I do believe he's in heaven too.

Mary/MI said...

Hey Dianne, I won $7.00! Woot woot! I will take it to Vegas in a couple of weeks!

I can contribute some pain patches to our meds. Do they count? They won't get you"high", so not sure lol!

I was on my treadmill tonight and the dogster kept barking and making funny noises, so I put her on it between my feet. After a few seconds she was trotting with me. I never laughed so hard watching her! I have a running partner lol! Needless to say she is a tired doggie!

Zona, you don't have to keep pretending. I promise I won't get it around (about your winning).

Tina, I am glad Michael "confessed" to you about his beliefs. I do think that alone made him Catholic ;-)

Barb, yes, a lot of stair climbing is involved!

JustLin, maybe you should take a rockin cd with you to pt!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I don't like doing the pt exercises that require I get down on the floor. So far today, I've done all the other ones I'm supposed to and am trying to talk myself into getting on the floor and finishing.
