Way to go TINKA!!

SMH....Badgers lost to Ohio State. They are still undefeated, yet we are the team going to the championship...explain that one!!!

Jodi said...

SLIN - Well that sucks...!!! Maybe we need a cocktail!!

Jodi - A Christmas cake is similar to what wedding cakes used to be. It is of English origin and has got a bad reputation these past 30 years. I think that is because a poorly made cake can be very dry. It consists of a dozen eggs, a pound of butter, 6 cups of seedless and sultana raisins and about 3 cups of Christmas fruit and glazed cherries. You use 2 cups of flour with lots of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. You mix all the raisins and fruit the night before and pour juice and a cup of rum over it letting the fruit soak up the rum. The next day you beat up the butter, add one egg at a time with some flour and spices until you have used up all the eggs. Add 2 tbls. each of vanilla, lemon and almond flavouring. Then you have your batter. Add the dry fruit. Mix together and place in heavily lined cooking pans. Cook at 275F for 5 hours.

Jack, Kevin and I love it. Cara and the grandkids don't. I have the fruit all ready soaking. We will make it tomorrow.

Today we made apple pies from apples in our orchard.

Tonight is Victoria's Santa Claus parade. We aren't going but we will watch it on tv. By tomorrow I will be full of the Christmas spirit. (and I don't mean Rum.)

Jodi said...

TINKA - Thank you for the explanation. Not a huge fan of raisins, so I will have to pass. I, too have caught the Christmas spirit. Already have been listening to some of my holiday cd's ♥

Hi everyone!

Zona, *singing in my best Karaoke voice* Happy Birthday Randy!"
Jim is anything but, a fussy eater! He'll eat anything placed in front of him! His fave cake is same as Randy's. I have only made it a couple of times. I think I will whip one up for Thanks Giving (box of course).

LynnD, Sorry about your tooth, boobs and gas ;-)

Sacbarb, wtf who eggs cars anymore? Jim said eons ago his ex wife had their car egged and never mentioned it to him. When he finally saw it days later , the egg had started to corrode the paint. Dumb gal never even rinsed it off!
btw, lucky you! I wish we had a fireplace. We have one in our basement, but hardly go down there.

Tinka, I'm with you. The older I get the more I hate waiting in lines! We already have peeps camping out in line at Best Buy store for next Fri!!

Diane, I'll be rooting for your Broncs tomorrow. We don't play until Thanks Giving. Get your tats ready!!I wish we could all get together to go to the movies. I always have to go alone or *gasp* with my sweet SIL who loves to talk about her ailments all through the show!! LOL! Love her anyway!

JustLin~ Lobster and a movie! Lets go!! :)
I used to love big dinners, but it was getting to be a lot of work especially when guests rarely helped with clean up. That would be my sis and her daughters. Not sure why, but they always headed to the living room or just disappeared lol! My sis has been mad at me for a couple of months, so am not expecting her and fam. Should be just hubby, my sons and son number 1s wife... just right!

Need to check out FB......

Dianne/Denver said...

Tink, I think I would love your Christmas cake. Sounds a lot like our fruitcake and I like that too....especially after you soak everything in rum. No drinking out of the bowl missy!!

Ok it's a date.. We are all meeting for movie and lobster dinner soon. I finally had Mexican food for dinner with guac. Problem being, I got full fast as I've been eating small portions of food since rehab. We had to bring 3/4 of my dinner home.

It's been a long day. A friend came over about 11am to bring some pumpkin cheesecake and then went for hair and then dinner. I ended up not driving AND not taking any pain pills as I thought I was going to drive. I'm pooped!!! Up and down off low chairs is not easy. We took the walker today. I really need it the most for pulling myself up.

Jodi, so glad you liked the movie. Was it crowded?

Barb, are you still napping? We are having really nice weather and it's supposed to last through next weekend so don't be sending bad weather this way, please. Btw, tomorrow Broncos play San Diego and its an important game for us to win since we are in the same division. SOOOO, I was wondering if you could cheer for us, please? Thank you in advance. :)

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi Mary, we were writing at the same time. I wouldn't ever want to go to movies with your SIL if she talks through the movie. I wouldn't want to sit in front of her either , I think I'd rather go alone.

You sister might get over being mad by thanksgiving and then you will be surprised with a lot more guests. SURPRISE!!!!

Glad to hear you will be cheering for my team this year. I don't seem to be quite as interested this year and I should with Peyton playing for us plus I get to see glimpses of Elway at every game. We r doing pretty well too. I had lions for my defense on fantasy last week and got one crummy point from them.

I find I'd rather shop online. It's so easy and there are a lot of deals too. I think it's also since I can't wander around very well anymore.

Well, guess I will go do something....like roll over. I'm back into my exciting life again.

Just_Lin said...

Mary Sounds like you will have just the right number of guests for the holiday. Let's hope Mary isn't right and your sister doesn't show up unexpectedly with her family.

I'm still not sure what I'm doing for Thanksgiving. I didn't feel like wrestling with a turkey with this bum shoulder. Now I've been invited to my son and his girlfriend's new place and also invited over to a friend's house. I may end up just staying home and cooking a turkey breast for myself. For some reason, that's sounding really good to me. Maybe I'm just enjoying my new privacy a little too much. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I used to be a lot more interested in the 49er games when my husband was alive. We made more of an event out of watching the game. We'd plan snacks, etc. It just isn't the same by myself.

Just_Lin said...

Tinka I sure admire how much baking you do for the hoidays. I should start on Christmas cookies pretty soon and get them in the freezer. I'm feeling stressed just thinking about how soon Christmas will be here.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi I think you're right. A cocktail would help but I will settle for my Arrowhead carbonated water with essence of orange. LOL

sacBarb said...

Mary, it was J/L's car that was egged not mine. I can't imagine why anyone would do that either.

J/L, I planned to cook a turkey breast because it's just going to be four of us. I am now considering getting a cooked meal from Safeway. I'll make up my mind by tomorrow when I go shopping.

For some reason, I can't seem to get excited about the holidays anymore. Every year I put up fewer decorations, so I have less to put away. Guess I'm getting lazy.

It has rained here ALL day and is supposed to last through the night. The wind has blown a few old trees down. Sac is called "The city of trees" and we lose a few every year. Today a 100 year old tree uprooted and fell on someone's car. Ouch!

Dianne, sorry, I can't root for your Broncs. I'm sure you understand.

Zona, I have never made a cake from scratch. I wouldn't even attempt it at this age. I did tweak cake mixes to change them up a little when the kids were young. Some of those 'experiments' didn't always work, like when I put green food coloring in a white cake mix for Todd's St. Patrick's day birthday party. Epic fail. It just looked moldy. None of the kids would eat it.

Jodi said...

MARY - I usually work on Thanksgiving. Such is life in retail, but I do enjoy getting the time and a half!! Heading to Aunt Jane's after work. She invited my whole family, but Paul won't commit to going, so I informed him that is where I'm going. WHATEVER!!! Hoping at least one of my kids will go with me :(

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Movie was about half full. Surprised me, being that it was the opening weekend.

Jodi said...

Waving a wing at SLIN & BARB!!

Jodi said...

I fell asleep before 9 last night, so of course I am up early today. Damn internal clock!!

Getting a jump start on some laundry while the house is quiet. In a couple of hours I'm going to breakfast and then grocery shopping with Paul. The fun never ends ;)

Dianne/Denver said...

Morning. I'm up early with pain in my knee right down my leg. Pain pill it was for my early morning breakfast. I haven't had too much of this luckily. It hurts clear into my ankle. Ouch!!

Il try and be quiet since its not even 7 yet here and you are all asleep.

Jodi said...

DIANNE - I hope you feel better soon and can get some more rest!!

Jodi said...

Just got back from breakfast and grocery shopping with my hubby. Think I may lay down so I don't fall asleep during the Packer game. We are playing the Lions today....bring it MARY!!! Bwahahaha!!!

Lynn D said...

Morning glories!

Sound like you all had a busy day yesterday.

J/L sorry I hit your car when I threw those eggs. :{

I have to grocery shop and order out dinner for Thursday.

I am with Barb and J/L I the holidays don't seem like holidays anymore and I would have no problem spending them alone. I really think I could become a hermit in my old age, well maybe a partial hermit only coming out when I want to interact with people.

Waving at Dianne and Jodi!

Tinka said...

Good Morning Dianne - Congrats at being first you beautiful doll you. I hope the pain in your knee goes away quickly. I don't think you should skip any pills. Let someone else drive for a few weeks.
Yes our Christmas cakes are fruitcakes, just another name for it.

Good Morning Jodi - Enjoy your game today.
Yes you have to love raisins to like my cake. About half of the family loves it. The others don't. I always make one for my brother-in-law because he really does love it.

Breakfast time. I will be back later. This house smells like Christmas with the fruit soaking in rum and spices.

Tinka said...

Good Morning - Again we were both typing at the same time. I guess great minds do think alike. We have to agree to disagree about Christmas. The six year old inside of me gets just about as excited about Santa coming as she always did. It's a great feeling.

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb I'm not just guessing that I'm getting lazy, I know I am. This shoulder pain isn't helping my attitude any, that's for sure. I am thinking I will stay home on Thanksgiving and just cook a turkey breast for myself. I was tempted to order a dinner from Safeway but that's a big meal for just little old me. I've been invited to my son's and also to a friend's house for the holiday but I'm just not feeling up to it.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi I could def use a nap but this shoulder pain which kept me up most of the night is now back in full force so I don't think I'll be dozing off any time soon. I must have really aggravated it yesterday because it usually doesn't keep me awake. :(

I was also out for breakfast. I met up with some friends and had a yummy spanish omelet.

Just_Lin said...

LynnD Well, see. That's what happens when you start throwing eggs around. LOL

I am now imagining you as a hermit living in a tiny one room cottage in the woods.

Just_Lin said...

Tinka I wish I still had the Christmas spirit the way you do. I just don't have the energy for it like I once did.

Jodi said...

TINKA - I love that you let your inner 6 year old out!! And I love reading your posts about the holidays and your family ♥

Jodi said...

LYNN - Quite frankly I wouldn't mind sitting this one out, but I totally want to be there for my Aunt Jane! It will b hard being the first Thanksgiving without my Uncle Russ. And I'm gonna suck it up and play nice with my brother (and his wife!!!)....ugh!! Since I work til noon that day, I ordered a Pumpkin Cream Cheesecake and Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake bites to bring. I've never ordered from this place, so I'll have to report back on how they r!

Jodi said...

SLIN - Your Spanish omelette sounds delish!! I had 2 eggs poached and a side of wheat toast. Takes me back to my childhood. My Grandma Halverson always made poached eggs for us!! All that was missing was the orange marmalade!

Jodi said...

Packers won today. It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it!!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - I have my blue bracelet on for the BRONCOS!!

Jodi said...

MARY - Sorry 'bout your luck hun ;) Crazy game!!

Tinka said...

My Christmas cakes are just starting to bake. The house smells so good.

Jodi - Thanks for the kind words but sometimes I think I am just babbling on about my family. I don't want to bore anyone.

Just_Lin - I don't tell everyone about the six year old inside of me because it can be interpreted as being "nuts". I remember when my kids were around 12, if someone said something about Santa, Cara would say "Shh don't say that, Mom is in the other room and she still believes in Santa Claus." When one of my grade ones would ask me for the truth I would say "Santa Claus is magic and I believe in magic". I remember one six year old stamping her foot in front of another grade one and saying "I don't care what you say Mrs. Nickolichuk believes in Santa and SO DO I. I wouldn't tell this on Facebook but I think on the blog we understand each other's follies.

Mary/MI said...

Jodi, Lions sucked lol!
I love anything with cream cheese!!

I rarely take naps, but have been contemplating one!
My neighbor wanted to go to Church today so I packed up his wheel chair and walker and took him. I dropped him off for the Sunday bible class and went in with him for the reg service. I am NOT a morning girl and almost dozed off a few times! He wanted to take me and his ex-wife to lunch after. I really just wanted to go home (His Church is 20 miles from where we/he live). I smiled best I could and drove another 6 miles away from home to his favorite restaurant. It's a good thing they are good talkers, cuz I sure wanted to nap right there at the table lol! I know he gets lonely all cooped up at home, with his 2 bum knees. One more surgery in 2 weeks. Poor guy. This will be the 8th surgery!

I think I will take a leeetle nap..........

Jodi said...

TINKA - Your stories are never boring!! I enjoy them because my family has gotten so small. Just not the same without my parents here...

Jodi said...

MARY - For awhile there, I was saying the same thing about the Packers!! Interesting game, to say the least! Your neighbor is lucky to have you. Poor guy...another surgery?!!? Ouch!!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - I see the Bronco's are still ahead!! GO BRONCO'S!!!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Your Thanksgiving desserts sound yummy. Bet they will go well with cawfee.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I finally took enough Tylenol to be able to take a nap. I never take naps but only getting 3 1/2 hrs sleep last night just wasn't makin' it.

Just_Lin said...

Tinka I love hearing about your family gatherings, too. And never stop believing, okay?

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I do believe your horsies won. :)

Dianne/Denver said...

Yes guys, my little horses won today. It was a fun game to watch. I was well by late morning and pain all gone. It was great to see my friend after six weeks. We had a lot of catching up to do. I've missed her. She lives about an hour away so she's not much of a driver this far. She came with her husband today with the food so we had a mini bronco party.

Tink, I love all your stories and memories too. Please don't ever stop letting us peak in on them with you. You are such a joy to all of us.

Jodi, you desserts all sound good for Thanksgiving. It is a great thing of you being there for your aunt over the holiday. That first year is always so tough at the holidays. You are a good niece.

Lynn, you can't be a hermit...you have darling grand kids!!! You still get the santra fun at your house. My grand kids are too grown up for that anymore. Sniff sniff.

JL, sorry you are having so much shoulder problems. Do you think you will remember to call pt tomorrow???? Do I need to call for you? Now it would be even nicer to live closer as we have a buffet of drugs at this house since our surgeries and I would share with you.

Mary, you played a pretty close game with GB today. I thought it was going to be an upset. The Cleveland game with Dallas was like that too. There were some close games today. It was very nice of you to help you neighbor out. Boy, I feel for him having all those surgeries on his knees. Didnt you say it was from infection? As my dad would have said, "helping your neighbor is better than getting on your knees and praying" and I'm inclined to agree.

Dianne/Denver said...

I'm 50-50 on the Christmas spirit this year. I've had my cards and stamps for months but of course they are still in the boxes. I wish I could get out and shop a little and I also wish I had children ....little children....to shop for this year. Gift cards seem boring to give my grand kids but that's all they want or money. I can't even think of something for Louis. I can think of things for myself though. That's not very nice, is it?

I've been tempted to order one of those Safeway dinners. They always look so good. I wish they were a little smaller if you wanted so we could have it for left overs. Have you all tried them?

Dianne/Denver said...

PS....I love Thanksgiving and I'm glad I don't have to be in rehab for that celebration.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I have my first physical therapy appointment on Tuesday.

The glutton in me wants to order a Safeway dinner even though it is too much food. I had there dinner once before at one of my husband's daughter's house and it was quite good. Better than I had expected. And you sure can't beat it for convenience. It may be getting to be too late to order one.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I'm thankful that you don't have to have your Thanksgiving in the rehab facility.

Dianne/Denver said...

Just order it tomorrow and you can freeze a lot of it and enjoy it for awhile.

I went out and was able to get in the drivers side of the car. I for sure will drive tomorrow.

Dianne/Denver said...

JL, thanks. I'm glad you have your appt for tuesday. I hope they can help you

Just_Lin said...

Dianne That's a good point about freezing some of the turkey dinner.

sacBarb said...

Good eeevening.

I have really been Miss Grouchy Pants today. I was eating breakfast and one of my crowns popped off. Luckily I didn't swallow it. So I will be calling the dentist tomorrow. :-(

I was looking for something in my closet today and took a bunch of things out but I didn't find what I was looking for. I had so much stuff out of the closet, I decided to get rid of a lot of it. (too lazy to put it all back?) Some clothes, some shoes, and some misc. stuff. I'll bring them to WEAVE tomorrow before I change my mind. I really should have been working on my Christmas cards instead of my closet. I am so easily distracted.

sacBarb said...

Waving to all the Owls, I think I'll head to bed. I hope you all had a better day than I did.

We'll do it all over again tomorrow.

Sweet dreams, everyone.

Jodi said...

Good morning HOoters!!

Can I just say how much I love my new Bunn?!!? From zero to cawfee in less than 3 minutes!!

Jodi said...

Wishing everyone a good Monday!! Time for me to go get prettied up for work ♥

Jodi said...

BARB - so sorry about your tooth!! hope your Monday is better!! love u lady ♥

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb Oooh, so sorry about the crown. That's not fun at all. Also sorry you didn't find what you were looking for in the closet. I know how frustrating that is. On the upside, you did get something accomplished by getting stuff cleaned out of your closet. I didn't do much more today than take a nap and wash some blankets.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Glad you're lovin' your new cawfee maker. :)

Dianne/Denver said...

What a pain did the whole post and then my battery ran out and plugged it in and my whole message is gone.

As i was saying barb and Lynn, looks like you are oth going to the dentist office this week. I still get worried about my bridges breaking like they used to and now I have to take an anti biotic for any dental work even cleaning since my knee surgery.

Jodi, we got our new pot last night too. We are not huge coffee drinkers but its nice for guests and if we just decide to have a cup. I don't like to be without a coffee maker. Morning Jodi have a good day at work.

Barb, well good thing you stayed home if you could even tell you were grumpy. At least you were productive.

Night up much too late and full of pills to get to sleep. I rode my bike tonight!!

Lynn D said...

Morning glories!

Crap Barb it looks the evil tooth fairy visited your house too.

I was not as grouchy yesterday and I feel better today. I have upped my Vit. D and no more missing a day of thyroid meds.

Dianne I love my grandchildren but seriously I need a hermit break now and then. :) It is fun buying presents for the little ones everyone else is getting gift cards.

Jodi Bunn coffee makers are fantastic because they brew instantly.

Tinka you are never boring,ever!

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I take antibiotics every time I go to the dentist, too. They first told me I would have to take it for two years, but when I had the second knee done, they said it would be forever.

Lynn, I'm going to the dentist tomorrow. Fun. NOT!

Jodi, Sorry your Badgers lost.

J/L, it was just a top I was looking for and it's probably in another closet. All my closets are full of clothes of various sizes. It's really ridiculous. I am getting better about getting rid of stuff, but I still have a long way to go.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I wonder what the deal is with having to take antibiotics before teeth cleaning after having knee surgery. I always had to take antibiotics prior to teeth cleaning because I have a heart murmer. Bacteria could then go from my gums through my blood stream and stick on the edge of the heart valve since it wasn't closing properly, causing an infecion in my heart.

Just_Lin said...

LynnD I'm glad you are feeling better. When I had my thyroid gland removed in '96, I had to go weeks without suppements while I went through further treatment. By the time I started thyroid pills, I felt like my muscles were turning into wood and just walking across the room was tiring.

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb I don't know if it's a curse or a blessing that I don't have a lot of storeage space here. I don't have a lot of clothes but I still tend to hold on to things longer than I should.

Mary/MI said...

466!!! Is that a new record??

Mary/MI said...

Dianne, I have to take antibiotics before DDS too. Same reason as you stated. Any bleeding in your mouth can carry infection into your bloodstream. That is what happened to my neighbor this last time, only he had taken the pills. He is just very susceptible to infection.

I finally laid down last night to watch the Awards show and slept right through it!! I missed the good stuff lol!!

Hubby has been on his 3rd hour on a "ten minute fix it job" LOL! We have interior folding doors that keep coming out of their track. Should have been a simple fix...NOT! He was getting so frustrated! I am happy to announce that doors a working again!!

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi Everyone....well, we have our Christmas decorations up. I'd asked Louis to do them before he left town. He was pretending he was Randy and waiting for the last minute. He got very grumpy last night when I "casually" asked if he was still planning on doing. We don't do much but what normally takes a weekend to do was done in an hour and a half because no tv on and like I said, he was grumpy doing it. It looks so nice but what a big deal. :(

Mary, that might be a record. We don't have shirley here to give us our stats. Hopefully, she will be visiting we us soon as I miss her. I feel so bad for your neighbor. I just can't imagine his agony he's been through.

JL and Barb, I have a lot of clothes too and only wear a few. I'm better about getting rid of them than I used to be.

Sounds like all of you are going to the dentist this week. I'm totally over going there. I've had my share.

Well, I'm officially on the cane and driving today. I have to use the walker for long distances but vp barely even need the cane in the house. Boy, does it feel good to drive today. It's been six weeks today since I've driven.

Jodi, I have to laugh when you say you like your bunn. You have to have been following this story. Lol

I'm feeling kind of puny today for some reason. I don't like to feel that way ....but who does!!!

Well, guess I will watch Louis run around doing all his last minute things (that could have been done days ago). Hope he doesn't bump into randy while they are running around.....watch out Zona.

Zona said...

Hi Guys!!

BARB & LYNN: Hate dental stuff..triple hate it! Eventho I have a nice dentist who has never hurt me..I still don't like going to see him. There's something about the smell of the office..novocaine and dread..lol..it makes me apprehensive the second I walk through the door! Good luck at your appointments..I hope they are quick and painless. :)

DI: Yay! You're driving! Woohoo! I knew you would be! And using the cane? Double good news! :)

I've decided Randy and Louis are the Procrastination Twins..with a side of grumpy thrown in because of it. I think we need to sign them up for Time Management classes! ;D

J/LIN: Hmmm..I have a heart murmur too..and I think he only gave me antibiotics once..maybe I need to discuss this with him?

JMM: I think our record is up in the 600's somewhere..waaaaay back in the day!

I missed the awards too..I checked out Youtube for Psy/MC Hammer and Pink..worth a look..both were excellent! :)

JODI: I'm so sorry..I forgot to tell you that Randy loved your song..he said to tell you thank you! I bet you thought I was going to say he liked your Bunn.. :D ;D

Gotta go make dinner..Shepherd's Pie..gonna change it up this time..hope it comes out ok..

Have a good evening everyone! :)

Dianne/Denver said...

I love Shepherds pie. I used to make a pretty good one.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Woo hoo! You are driving again! Doesn't that make you feel better? You are no longer dependent. You are really coming along well with your recovery. You should be very please.

Just_Lin said...

Mary Why is it that those little quick household maintenance jobs always turn into a bigger deal than they should? It's one of those Murphy's Law things, I think. Were there four-letter words involved?

Just_Lin said...

Zona I always had to have antibiotics prior to teeth cleaning and had them prior to extractions, too. Next time you schedule a cleaning you should ask about that.

I love Shepard's pie but don't really have a recipe for it. Care to share?

sacBarb said...

Dianne, Drive safely. I know you will, but I just had to say it.

Mary, My Hubby was good at fixing things, but sometimes the easiest things would give him the most grief. And for the record, J/L, there were lots of four letter words involved.

Zona, I love Shepherd's pie, but have never made one.

sacBarb said...

I was married 52 years ago today. Not really a 'happy' anniversary, but a memorable day nonetheless. It's hard to believe it was that many years ago. I really feel OLD!

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb (((HUGS))) Mine was the 13th. It would have only been 12 years for me. It took me 23 years to decide he was safe enough for me to marry. LOL

Dianne/Denver said...

Barb, it's always nice to think of the memory of that wedding day. Wow 52 years. We will only be ten in February.

Ok, Louis just told me how much he has to do tonight to get ready for trip. It's 9:42 -0and guess what he's doing....yup, watching tv. I even did the laundry for him. Pretty nice for a recuperating wife!! :) (how many more weeks can I milk this)?

Mary/MI said...

SacBarb, Hubby can have a "colorful" vocabulary" when needed!

Diane,your driving again! Woot Woot!!
You can add Jim with Randy & Lois to the procrastinators list!!
I think he may be part Mexi, because he always says "maniana" and takes a lot of siestas! LOL!!!

JustLin, I think men do things in 4 hrs that we can do in one! ijs!

Jodi, where have you been? Still admiring you cute Bunn??

Dianne/Denver said...

PS. Barb, I will be very careful and I'm not driving any long distances. I'm still having my daughter take me to my sons on Thanksgiving. Thanks for caring.

Mary/MI said...

Awe Barb, congrats on your Anniversary and sweet memories! I wish I would have met you hubby. If he was as sweet as you, well, he may have even liked me lol!!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Well, let's see....I think you can milk this out as long as you're using a cane, anyway. :)

Just_Lin said...

Mary You're probably right. Just like they get more sick with a cold than we do. Just one of those mysterious differences between men and women. LOL

sacBarb said...

Mary, My Hubby liked short, sassy, women so I'm sure he would have liked you. However, every time I asked him to get something off the top shelf for me, he would tell me that his next wife was gonna be six feet tall. LOL

Mary/MI said...

Justlin. don't even get me started on men and their "sick days" lol!
I am going to bed in a few, with visions of your breasts, er I mean your avatar, (turkey). Sure is making my mouth water :)

Mary/MI said...

Barb, thanks for the late night belly laugh!!!
Busy day tomorrow, so I better hit the sack!
Good night all!!

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I still use a cane sometime, when I am going to walk long distances, or when I go shopping, or if I know the ground is uneven or bumpy, like when we went to the beach in San Diego and it was rocky.

Dianne/Denver said...

Good. I'll be using that cane off and on. I still say I can't vacuum since I had a hysterectomy about 15 years ago :)

Jodi said...

Need your opinion HOoters!!

My co-worker Christina is having bunion surgery in early December, which means that I will b working yet another Christmas *this will b 3 in a row*. I truly don't have a problem with this, except for the fact that she took her vacation the week of July 4th, then I somehow worked Labor Day because her family has an event they always do. Flash forward to this week. I had volunteered to work Thanksgiving. I don't ever mind working it, because I only work til noon and I only have to show up and eat (always a silver lining!!!). The thing is, knowing that she will b out on medical leave for Christmas and New Year's, don't you think she would have volunteered to work Thanksgiving??? I don't want to harbor these feelings because I consider her to b a friend. My manager called me yesterday because he was trying to figure out the holiday schedules. He told me that Christina told him that I didn't mind working the holidays. I have always tried to work as many as possible because my hubby is a construction worker, and if he doesn't work he doesn't get paid. Period!! Do I tell Christina how I feel about her not stepping up, or at least offer to work Thanksgiving? I don't want to ruin our friendship, but I also can't seem to let this go. HELP!!!

Lynn D said...

Morning Glories!

Jodi I think you should approach your co-worker and let her know while you generally don't mind working holidays that doesn't mean you want to work all of them. It is only fair that everyone takes turns. She is starting to take advantage and that is wrong. imho

Lynn D said...

Oh Crap! Zona I missed Randy's birthday! Happy Birthday Dear Randy! Sending (((hugs)))!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi You need to talk to your co-worker like Lynn has suggested. She may truly think you like working the holidays for the extra money. You need to let her know that doesn't mean you want to work every single one. She and your boss shouldn't have made that assumption.

Just_Lin said...

LynnD Good morning! I have my first meeting with the physical therapist later this morning then I will swing by the Kaiser pharmacy and pick up pain meds the doctor ordered. Hoping I won't need them but based on my lack of sleeping a couple of nights ago, I want to be prepared if I need them.

Mary/MI said...

JustLin, I must have missed the part about your owie! Was it a shoulder problem? I am trying to remember. Hope the pain subsides!
Jodi, I would def. speak up. Make it jovial, like "Hey sweetie, I am taking a break from Holiday working for a while :) would you mind covering for me :).

I am one to talk lol. I never know how to say no to people. I did have to let my neighbor know today that I would be pretty busy the next few days, because he has been calling daily for one thing or another and I am getting pooped lol! I know he has many other friends who will step in. I just made my self wayyy to available. KWIM Jodi???

Jodi said...

LYNN. SLIN. and MARY - Thank you. I really need to suck it up and just talk to her. I did tell my boss that not to expect me to work as many holidays next year. And MARY. yes I have to learn that word, too!!

Jodi said...

Enjoying a Harvest Latte and a yummy oatmel, cranberry, and white chocolate cookie before heading to Jake's wrestling match. I hope he does as well as last week. Took his opppoent down in 13 seconds!!!

Jodi said...

P.s. they have free wifi, so I'm posting from my nook!!!

Dianne/Denver said...

Jodi, I think you should just nicely mention it too like JL said, she may think you do want all the holidays and since you're friends......what does a harvest latte taste like as I've never heard of it?

Well, Louis just literally ran out the door for the airport. He has plenty of time and my daughter is taking him...so I'm now on my own for a week. It feels kind of strange when we have had so much togetherness for the last few weeks. I wonder who will be fixing my meals? He's probably glad to get a break!!

JL, hope your pt goes well. I wonder if it will be mostly a consultation today and only a few exercises. Maybe they will give you some for home

Hope everyone is having a good day. It even looks like decent weather across the country for the holiday week too and for the travelers. Good!!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Harvest latte is a combination of hazelut, vanilla and cinnamon!

Just_Lin said...

Hello, HOoters. Well, I made it through physical therapy. I'm sore now and took some Tylenol. I also picked up an Rx of pain meds but I will save that for when it is really necessary. The therapist feels that my problem with my shoulder injury as well as my aching left hip are both muscular in nature. She did lots of stretching and strengthening exercises with me today which I am to continue to do at home. I feel like I was put through a wringer. Anyway, I don't go back to see her again for 4 weeks. I hope I am better by then.

Jodi said...

Stopping at Culvers for dinner after Jake's match. So proud of him...he won both matches!!!

Dianne/Denver said...

Yea, congratulations jake!!

JL, we will have to do our exercises together.

Jodi said...

SLIN - Sounds like u had a good session. Be a good girl and keep it up at home!!

Maureen said...

Wishing ALL the nightowls a HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I have so much to be thankful for.

sacBarb said...

Back at ya Mo. And a Happy Thanksgiving to all the Owls from rainy and cloudy Sacramento.

Jodi said...

MOHO - Happy Thanksgiving to you 2 ♥

Jodi said...

BARB - We have had awesome weather here...close to 60*!! Although we will be back to normal come Friday with a high of 41....:(

Mary/MI said...

Weather has been great here too! Loving it until hojodi sends the cold stuff lol!

My son & I have been busy today laying new carpet in our basement family room. Soon I can put all my exercise equipment back down their for the winter. I usually put my recumbent bike in my bedroom until spring. My treadmill has been lonely down there lol.Tomorrow will be busy with all the baking and cleaning, so in case I don't get back in here, I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels!

Mary/MI said...

Honest, I do know how to use "there,& their"!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Congrats to Jake! You must be one proud Mama. :)

Just_Lin said...

Dianne To bad we couldn't really do our exercises together. I hate rolling around on the floor. :(

Just_Lin said...

MO Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, and all my HOoter friends. I have much to be thankful for, too, including all of you.

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb It's been raining here again, too. I'm thankful I have a roof over my head and food in the fridge.

Just_Lin said...

Mary It sounds like you had quite a workout today, too. You are always so busy. I wish I had your energy. I plan on spending Thanksgiving here, alone, this year and I am really looking forward to it. That may sound weird but this is going to be a very relaxed and stress-free holiday for me. I'm making turkey breasts for myself and all the trimmings but done in the easiest way possible. As long as my shoulder doesn't act up too much, I ought to have a very enjoyable day, eating good food and watching movies.

Mary/MI said...

JustLin, your stress free turkey day sounds great to me!I love having family over, but all that work prior to it can sure burn me out! I will definitely mellow out over the week end! Wine, a movie and of course leftovers!! :)

Jodi said...

MARY - How do you know it isn't DIANNE sending that cold weather to you? ;P

Jodi said...

SLIN - This is only his 2nd season wrestling. And yes...*raising hand*, I am one proud Mama ♥

Jodi said...

After working 8 hours on Thursday, a laid back Thanksgiving sounds divine!! But my Uncle Kenny called me last night and he is so excited to be spending Thanksgiving with us at Jane's. It is the first Thanksgiving he will b spending with his sister since they grew up together.

Jodi said...

I have coffee, tea, assorted diet sodas and apple spice cake donuts on the counter. Please help yourselves ♥

sacBarb said...

Jodi, does your son have to wear that not-so-sexy onesie when he wrestles? Whoever designed that outfit should be shot! But congrats to him on the wins.

Since I had to go to the dentist today, I had to change my nail appointment to tomorrow. I already had a hair appointment for tomorrow so I will have a busy day. Then when I come home I have to get stuff ready for Thursday. I have to put all the Christmas card stuff away in case the guys want to play pool and I probably should vacuum. Or maybe I can use Dianne's excuse. I had a hysterectomy in 1975. ;-)

sacBarb said...

Mary, check my FBI status if you want to have a stress free Thanksgiving. I may fix all my holiday meals using this recipe.

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb LOL @ the onesie!

Just_Lin said...

Mary I love, love, love, the leftovers. I'm making sure I'll have plenty of those, too.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi It sounds like that will be an extra nice Thanksgiving for your family. That's great!

Jodi said...

BARB - Yes, a wrestling onesie...lol!!! I posted pics on my page last night. He doesn't look bad, but some of those poor boys....OY!!!

Jodi said...

BARB - I was hoping to get in to get my nails done this week, but my gal is in the hospital :( Oh, well....thankfully I have a french with purple tips and you really can't see the outgrowth.

Jodi said...

SLIN - I think it will be!! My uncle went to the same BBQ place we had lunch at on our way back from Ohio, and had 2 turkeys smoked. One for Jane's and one for me!! Being that I never host Thanksgiving I never have leftovers, but not this year!! I'm so excited!!

Dianne/Denver said...

Good morning everyone.....I say with a bleary look at the screen.

Barb, do not vacuum!!!! Don't you remember the doctor telling you that in 1975? Plus you've had other surgeries sinc then so nope....I don't even know if you should be dusting. :)

Jodi, could you throw in some regular Pepsi with our breakfast. Donut and Pepsi...breakfast of champions. (Wonder what blood sugar would read)?

My grandsons have wrestled for years. They are taking a break this year and playing basketball. I did not like going to the tournaments as you had to stay all day.

Oh one more thing, I'm not sending cold weather right now. We re still breaking records in the 70's until maybe Sunday. It sounds like you are going to have a nice
family Thanksgiving plus leftovers...enjoy your day

Barb, sounds like you have a much more fun day than I do. I have pt at 11:39 and then back to dreaded surgeons office at 1:30. I'm sure he will tell me that my knee is not straight. Boo

Barb, you told us to check your FBI entry/status. Hmm, thi sounds like new news. I thought you'd been behaving.

You late night owls were up late last night. I think I even beat you all to bed.

Louis arrived safely in VA at his daughters. My worry was that the car rental would stay open as he didnt arrive until 11:30pm. There is only one flight a day to Norfolk. But all worked out and plane was on time. My first issue without him was after I heated up leftovers trying to hobble and carry a plate at the same time. I will have to figure out another way. My friend suggested I put it in Tupperware with a lid, which sounds like a good idea. It wasnt so fun fixing dinner either. I think Louis has me spoiled these weeks and all I did was heat up leftovers

Well, think I will see if I can grad a few more winks before the alarm start blasting in two hours.

Morning glories!

I have a bunch of running around this morning and then I am coming home and staying home!

It was windy and rainy again last night. Makes me want to hunker down. Waving at you all!

Zona said...

Hi Guys!

DI: Good luck at the doctor..may your leg be as straight as he wants it to be!! :)

JODI: Thank you for the DP and donuts..FUEL!! :D

BARB: Can't they play around the card stuff? It would sure make for a more challenging game!! ;D

J/LIN: Sent recipe to you via FB! :)

LYNN: Sunny and warm here..wish I could send it to you! :)

Busy busy day today. I just wanted to stop in and say HI and tell everyone to be safe on the roads today and tomorrow. Lots of travellers out there..and everyone seems to be in a hurry..so please please be careful!

Will check back in later..between dusting..cleaning and all that kinda junk..

Take care everyone! :)

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I hope you got a few more winks before the blasted alarm went off. Hey, does your walker have a seat? Any chance you could put a baking pan on it then put your dinner dish in the pan (in case of spillage)and work your way over to the table with it? Don't know if that would really work but in my mind it does. LOL

Just_Lin said...

HOdi How wonderful that you will have a turkey to bring home with you. Now just don't forget it! If it was me, I'd probably forget it. My mind is like a sieve these days. :(

Just_Lin said...

LynnD Thank goodness I don't have to go to the grocery store today. The only thing I need to do is keep my hair appointment. I still feel like I was hit by a truck after that physcial therapy yesterday. I'm glad I can take it easy today. Oh, wait. I'm supposed to do those exercises here at home, too. I guess the truck is coming through my living room.

Just_Lin said...

Zona Ooooh, thank you, thank you, thank you! I can hardly wait to go look! You are such a sweetheart. Hey, don't work too hard today. This is another reason it's nice that I am staying home alone for the holiday....no extra house cleaning to do. Yay!

sacBarb said...

Good morning.

Dianne, I will take your advice. No vacuuming or dusting. Maybe I can get Zona to come over and dust for me.

J/L, it is pouring down rain again today. I will be all beautiful after getting my hair done and then I'll have to go out and get rained on. CRAP!

Zona, Somehow I don't think that would work. They would probably get the cards all dirty rolling their balls over them. Hmmm, that doesn't sound right.

Lynn, Hunker down and stay warm. Wish I could.

Jodi, I'm gonna check out your pics.

I'm off (and I'm leaving, too). BBML

Jodi said...

DIANNE - My bad...will remember the Pepsi next time!!

Jodi said...

550!!!

Jodi said...

Waving back atcha LYNN ♥

Jodi said...

ZONA - I thought we would've had a more laid back morning at work, since there is no school here til next Monday. WRONG!!! Totally forgot about holiday traveling! Ran my ass off this morning. Does it show?!!?

Jodi said...

SLIN - I definitely won't forget the turkey!! What a treat! And I will not forget to bring home the leftover cheesecake. O M G....can't wait to dive into it tomorrow!!

Jodi said...

BARB - Don't forget your rain bonnet!! My Grandma always had her on after going to get her "hair did"...rain or not!! HA!!!

Jodi said...

Heading out to Kohl's. Forgot I had $40 in Kohl's cash that expire after today.

A shopping I will go, a shopping I will go....Hi HO the dairy-o....a shopping I will go ♥

Jodi said...

Having coffee with my Aunt Jane and Uncle Kenny. They said to say Hi!!

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi Everyone....

I'm home from pt and the dr. I did all the driving and....(drum roll). A good report from the dr. He said I was doing great and huge improvement!!! I am so excited as he is sometimes not quite so positive. What a difference six weeks makes. I feel so happy!!! They are going to have a little stretch cuff thing prescribed for me to help straighten even more. I used the cane all day and I really hardly need it. It was a good appointment and X-rays came back good too

Dianne/Denver said...

Barb, I'm so glad you aren't dusting or doing anything strenuous. You need to keep well. :). I'm sure Zona will come and dust. She's the dusting champ and no previous surgery!!

Jodi, what did you buy? I hope something for yourself....that's always fun. They let you use expired Kohls cash at our Kohls. Enjoy your visit with Aunt Jane.

JL, they must have really worked you hard yesterday. I need to get better on home exercises. You have to roll around the floor? I could never get down or much less back up. I'm good with my bike but not the stretches too much. I'm getting hungry for you dinner tomorrow and isn't it nice to relax too?

Lynn, hope your bad weather clears out and the sun peaks through.

I'm so hungry for Chinese food. I'm hoping I can get my daughter to meet me for dinner.

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Yippee!!! Awesome report! I got a couple of new sweaters and a pair of those fuzzy socks. They are awesome....knee high and argyle!! Best part is I only had to pay $1.02 out of pocket!!

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb I just got my hair done, too, but I don't have to go out in any rain. I think we are done for now. After Zona dusts at your house, can you send her down here? I haven't had a hysterectomy. Does that mean I have to do my own vacuuming? Well, crap. Then again, I'm not expecting company so who cares?

LOL @ the balls rolling over the cards. You're going to have quite the holiday, aren't you?

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Way to score at Kohl's! Will you be wearing one of your new sweaters tomorrow? Did Paul decide if he's going or not?

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Way to go! That is great that you are doing so well. I bet that's lifted your spirits.

I had Chinese food last night so I'm thinking of just ordering a pizza to be delivered tonight. Boy, I've gotten lazy.

Zona said...

DI: WooHoo!!! I won't say I toldyaso..twice.. ;D

JODI: I'm not sure..could you spin please.. ;D Doesn't it make a good shopping trip better when you not only get great bargains..but you have a gift card or credit? Cool!! :)

BARB: Heehee..ok..I need to delete that mental pic.. ;)

J/LIN: I just got done vacuuming..I don't know what possessed us to buy a sucker that wasn't self propelled..good gosh my knees and back are screaming "OLD FADOO..SIT DOWN!!" at me.. :D

Hey..wait..how did I become the dusting expert all of a sudden? Oh wait..I know..it's the Haboobs.. ;D

I have to start the squash..I've got to cook three of them..I think I'll be ok cutting them in half..don't you? :D

Zona said...

DI: I had my tonsils out when I was 5..so there!! :D

Just_Lin said...

Zona I thought you wrote that you had your toenails out! I was like....WTF?????

I had my tonsils out when I was 4 or 5, too.

Dianne/Denver said...

Zona, tonsils out don't count like a hysterectomy. You are elected to be the cleaner of the nest....so get busy!!

Chinese was good but a lot of food. We all have another meal.

I'm finding with my knee, I'm having a heck of a time to get up from a chair without arms (like in a restaurant). I'm going to have to get pt to teach me how to get do that easier.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I'm glad you got your Chinese food.

I finally did my exercises tonight and realized there were a couple of them I was supposed to do twice a day. Oops! It was not comfortable at all to do these exercises on a hardwood floor.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I still have a hard time getting up from chairs with no arms and also from low couches or chairs. I hate that. If you learn a secret, let me know. Congratz on the good report. Like Zona, I won't say I toldyaso.

Zona, you are the master duster because you have so much experience.

J/L, It stopped raining long enough for me to get home after getting my hair done. :-)

Jodi, S-C-O-R-E! I let $40 in Kohls cash expire last year. It was before my surgery and I just didn't have the energy to go shopping. I even tried to give it away, but no one else could go either. :-(

Just_Lin said...

5....69

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb I guess you had good timing. :)

Jodi said...

SLIN - Yes, I am wearing one of the sweaters. I will take a pic and post on fb later today. Paul told me last night he will go where I tell him to....bwahahaha!!! Not sure I should go there ;) But all 3 of my kids have decided to go with me :)

Jodi said...

ZONA - Haboobs, indeed ;) Spinning will b easy in my new socks....wheeeeeeeeeee!!!

Jodi said...

BARB - Good to chat with you this morning ♥

Jodi said...

Wishing you all a Blessed Thanksgiving ♥

Jodi said...

575!!! Ha!!!

Dianne/Denver said...

Jodi, glad your whole family wants to join you for the day. It will be a nice day.

JL, I have some of those exercises like that too. I do them and then read and it will say two or three a day...whoops!!!
As I said, compliments to u that u can roll around a floor.

Barb, I am going to ask about that chair deal. I about pull the table over getting up. There has to be an easier way. My, my.....all these told you so's. :) it's worth it.

I'm up late tonight and don't feel very sleepy and I've had med in me for well over an hour. Morning will come soon. I been wandering round the QVc online things to ee what I can order. Guess I'd better go to sleep as I like to watch parade in morning.

Night all you owls that re probably all asleep gexcept jodi
