Hi..new blog quick this time. How's everyone doing? Well, Kayla finally blocked Jake and some girl on her phone. He's threatening her and friends. She's getting a restraining order tomorrow. I hope she sticks to it. He's in San Diego and wants to come back and wants Andy to get him a ticket. He's only been there a week. I guess he thinks Andy sent him on a vacation. The grandma called Andy and asked for a ticket for him. She's playing on Kayla's emotions. We told her to block her too. It's just a constant mess. I think she's afraid.

Went to ww today and had a huge loss of .2 crazy and I'm still not drinking soda. Very frustrating. Had lunch with my normal Wednesday friend. She's been in Hawaii for five weeks so I was really glad to see her. We were at lunch from 12:30-4:30 catching up.

Barb, how was the estimate on your roof? Hope it was lower than your friends.

Guess what I just about am finishing up with my final dental work. I get the final product tomorrow after seven months. I'm really excited. I go back next week to have it checked. FINALLY!!! It's been worth it but what a process.

JL, are you still doing WW? If I would track it would sure help.

Mary, hello. What are you doing? Don't make me come find you.

Dianne said...

Barb, you're not mosey at all. Jake has an uncle there. He's probably already sick of him.
That's sad about your family and the go fund me situation. Family can be strange, right?

I have a very busy day tomorrow. Dentist, lunch, dr, and dinner...and I wonder why I don't lose weight.

Dianne Boy, Jake and his grandmother have some nerve asking Andy to buy a ticket for Jake-ass. The longer that loser stays out of state, the better. Kayla needs to block that grandmother, too, and make a complete break from all that drama and manipulation.

I have not been doing well with my diet, either. It seems all I'm doing lately is going out to eat so that's not helpful. Tuesday I had my usual weekly dinner with friends, John and Jane, and we went to a hofbrau for their spectacular french dip sandwiches. Of course, we had sides and dessert, too. Last night was my monthly dinner with another friend, Kathy, and we went to Olive Garden as they are having a buy one/take one home. I had that Zuppa Toscana that I absolutely LOVE and the shrimp scampi. The dinner I brought home was spaghetti with meat sauce which I will have for dinner tonight. Oh, I brought home bread sticks too. When I know I'm overeating, I tend to not go online and record in on WW. I'm like a little kid who's ashamed of what she's done.

Barb I'm sorry about that whole Go Fund Me situation. Somehow, I never even saw that post from you. I hope everything works out. Are they still raising funds there?

What's happening with your roof? I hate the wind, too. I still have fencing down and I always worry about trees coming down when it really starts to blow.

Mary's power is out. She says hello to everyone and will be back soon

Well, I got another estimate for my roof and it is $2,000 less than the first one, but that is still $10,000. I called two more companies, whose names I got from my gardener, and neither has called me back. I do know all the roofing companies are very busy now, fixing leaks and doing replacements. The storm we had a couple of weeks ago caused a lot of damage. Both companies have already told me that they wouldn't be able to start the roof replacement until May or June. Luckily, I don't have any leaks!

Dianne, I sure hope Andy doesn't get Jake another ticket to fly back to CO. I agree with J/L, the grandmother has some nerve calling and asking. If she wants him back, why doesn't she get him a ticket? Hopefully, he won't be able to get back to CO.

sacBarb said...

J/L, I'm not sure if the account is still open for Shirley and her husband. The post is probably still on my page somewhere. They are supposed to get some help from the VA, but they missed a meeting because Shirley was sick and her husband can't drive because of the dementia. They didn't tell their son about missing the meeting or he would have taken them. It's a sad situation.

sacBarb said...

Mary, I hope your power is back and you are warm. Have you been huddling around the fireplace?

Hi..We are in the beautiful Colorado mountains for the weekend. It was in the high 50's today. We had a great Italian dinner and tomorrow night I made reservations at place we haven't been before. We like it up here in Estes Park. We may see some snow before we leave but not much I don't think. We will wander some stores tomorrow and then seriously decide on our cruise cruise excursions and route we will take to and from Seattle do we can finish making hotel reservations. I'm about as anxious for the road trip as I am the cruise.

It looks like Mary is still without power from her FB posts and her weather is cold. Gosh, watching the weather now and seven day forecast shows 81 next week....unheard of in Colorado in March. We are all waiting for the other shoe to drop!!

Grandma has no money she says. I guess the uncle where he is doesn't either. She was totally begging Andy. Uncle will when he gets sick of him. If Andy got him a ticket it would break restraining order..hopefully he remembers that too.

Boy Mary, that's a lot of money. Will insurance help on any of it?

Got my new teeth yesterday and they look beautiful. I'm soooo glad to be done with this whole long expensive process.

JL, didn't do well with my diet at dinner at all and even broke down and had a coke. Boy, did that taste good. It is hard going out to eat and I do every day almost. I don't hardly ever eat dinner unless it's the weekend. I really thought I drank my calories with sodas and thought I'd drop weight quicker drinking all the water. Oh well...

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I don't know why you keep calling Barb "Mary". ;)

Are you getting all your planning done for your cruise and road trip? I've been figuring out what to wear for the two nights that will be formal nights on my cruise. I think I've got it settled now. Since we will be gone for 18 days total, and only taking one large suitcase each and a carry-on, I really need to be smart about packing and not making the suitcase too heavy. Not just because of airline charges, but also because I'm going to be lugging this stuff on and off of a train for the trip from french countryside to Paris. If I was smaller, my clothes wouldn't be so big and heavy.

Speaking of heavy...... I'm not doing so good on my food choices lately, either. I have little 7.5 oz cans of Coke in my fridge and last night I had 3 of them. Sometimes it seems that only a Coke will quench my thirst. That's what I get for eating food with too much sodium in it. I thought I was going to be good and cook for myself tonight but now I'm just tired and want to order a pizza. You know what goes with pizza, right? Coke!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne2 I forgot to tell you I'm glad you are happy with your teeth. Hopefully, you will be able to relax now and really enjoy your road trip even more than your last one now that you won't be worried about what you can chew.

Just_Lin said...

Barb Well, I think I told you I paid $12,000 and that was 2 years ago. The rates in the Bay Area for anything is higher than normal. At least you don't have a leak so you can take your time and get the right people for the job. The work they did here included all new gutters and downspouts as well as new vents in the roof. At least they did a really good job so I won't have to worry about that again unless I live to be a lot older than I think I will.

Jodi and her daughter are going to have nearly a 4 hour layover at SFO on May 2 on their way to Hawaii so I'm going to pick them up for a lunch visit. If their flight is on time, I'm hoping to a restaurant here in Pacifica that's right by the ocean as Sam has never seen the ocean before. That ought to be fun. I told Jodi how much we all miss her here in the nest.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I hope you aren't frozen like a popsicle. I'm sorry you have been out of power for so long. Brrrrr......

Dianne said...

Dang.....I knew it was Barbs roof. I'm getting senile. I love daylight savings when we spring forward. I've been wide awake her in the cabin since 7:30 as I was nervous my phone time/alarm wouldn't change. We are meeting my old boss/best man from another husband and wife for breakfast. They live up here. Haven't seen him him in about ten years. It should be fun.

JL, yesterday we had donuts and more soda!! A great steak for dinner. Today it's back to the water. I hate to weigh in this week plus we r taking a friend to dinner the night before to a yummy fried chicken place. I may not weigh Wednesday just go to meeting. We get our taxes done Monday and usually go eat after that too. My cleaning lady asked me if I'd lost weight...the sweet gal!
We got our whole cruise excursions planned, mapped out r driving trip, and made all the hotel reservations. Boy, that took all afternoon but it's done. Recd confirmations from even the cruise parking lot..$184 for 7 days!!

LOUIS is on spring break all next week so I think one day we will go gambling a little. Haven't been there for quite awhile.

Sounds fun for you to meet Jodi and daughter. Great to show her the ocean. Does Jodi say why she's not here anymore? I miss her too

Well, that's about it. Still pretty up,ear, no snow and elk roaming around.

Hi gals! I have not caught up with posts in area 51. As you know, we had been without power since Wed. When I was younger, it didn't bother me so much when this happened.
I know many people have it worse, but let me tell you, when the temps drop to 12 degrees and you have no heat or lights, it gets to you! When you have pets, you can't just pick up and leave. We have a small generator, so we had power for Jim's coffee lol! We were able to alternate power from tv to Frig and had an extra outlet for tv and internet, so not completely marooned lol! We slept in the living room with our coats and shoes on. Zoie and Queenie were puzzled lol!
We are expecting a nasty snow storm tonight and tomorrow. You can be sure I hurried and caught up with the laundry and filled large bottles with water for the bath room. Pray we don't lose power again!!! We are such wooses lol!

I had to do a DJ/Karaoke job last night. It was the bar owners Birthday. I was happy to see warm food and a warm turlet seat, not to mention warm water to wash my hands! Funny how little things like that excite you ha ha!!!

Well, I better get the rest of the laundry folded and put away.....

Dianne said...

Ohh, I'd hate to be without power that long. Good thing you have a generator. We are not sending any of that snow to you, Mary. We are still having nice weather. The mountains get snow but very dry here. Hope it stays on this time for you. Brrr

We had a really nice weekend and so fun to see my old friend today. The four of us talked for 2-1/2 hours. Hadn't seen him for ten years and didn't know his wife. Came home and got all my tax things packed up for tomorrow afternoon. I have a morning appt to get measured for my cataracts. Busy day. Tonight we had left overs from dinner last night. Yum...steak again. I'm back to water though.

sacBarb said...

Mary, I read that you got your power back on. The longest I have been without power is four days, but I was able to go to my son's so I didn't have to suffer. I have stayed home a time or two when the power was out for one or two days and it wasn't too bad. I keep Presto logs on hand during the winter so I can keep a fire in the fireplace for just those occasions. I laughed at the 'warm turlit' comment. It's funny how such a little thing can really mean a lot.

I washed a big load of towels yesterday and I didn't get them put away, so they were in a basket on the couch. I woke up in the middle of the night and my Tara cat wasn't on the bed, so I got up to find her. There she was, laying on top of the folded towels. I guess that is a lesson to me to put them away as soon as I fold them from now on!

sacBarb said...

Dianne, Your road trip and cruise sounds fabulous. And you won't have to worry about your teeth. Yayyy

sacBarb said...

J/L, I'm still waiting for the other companies to call me to make an appointment for an estimate on my roof. If they don't call this week, I am going with the lower bid. That company did a roof for a neighbor at the end of my street and they are very happy with the results. Both estimates I got did not include new gutters bbut do include new vents. I have those gutters that are covered and don't allow debris to collect in them. They cost a small fortune and they are only about four years old.

JustLin, The first time I went to Europe I took a large suitcase, boy was that a mistake! It was horrible getting on the trains especially the stations where you have to cross over up and down the 17 steps each side under the station.Jaimie helped best she could, but I felt guilty so I lugged them myself as much as possible. The next time I went it was carry-on all the way! I learned to take cloths that were interchangeable.
After all each place I went to didn't know I had worn them before lol!

SacBarb, funny about your towels! I bet she was thinking "how nice of her to make me a comfy place to sleep."

Dianne,I we got our refund check last week. Actually it was my $. It was my state tax. I won"t get one next year because I had it folded into my pension check. I should have done it a long time ago.

Matthew started his new job today. It is a place that is known for hiring Vets. He will be training for two weeks, then full time. It doesn't require physical work. It has something to do with giving out info for people wanting passports and enhanced drivers license. I am so glad it won't be hurting his neck or back, and he will have full ins. coverage!

We got about 5" of snow last night and most of today. I am so over this winter!
At least we didn't lose power!!

sacBarb said...

Mary, I'm so happy for Matthew. Is he working for a state agency?

sacBarb said...

J/L, I learned, after my first trip to Hawaii in 1990, to pack light. It's no fun lugging a heavy suitcase around. When Sharon and I went to the UK and Australia, each time for a month, we made sure we would have laundry facilities in our timeshare. It made it so much easier. In England and Scotland, I bought a lot of souvenirs and I ended up putting them them all in a box and mailing it home. I had my mail the Post Office and it was there when I got home. After that trip, I cut down on the amount of stuff I bought while on trips.

Mary/MI said...

SacBarb, It's not a state job per say, not realy sure. I haven' had much of a chance to grill him lol!! He is just so glad to be working again on not coming home in horrible pain! Thanks for asking.

I made home made tortillas and Spanish rice today. I took some to my neighbors. They have been so good to us this winter. They loaned us two large containers from their well when we were out of power. They have their whole house wired to a generator, so they are never "in the dark" lol! They have plowed us out a few time too.
Tomorrow I will be going to our Union's Easter lunch. I guess next month is busy, so they are having it early. They only meet once a month, on 3rd Wed.. Thurs. I have an eye apptmt. I am having some kind of laser treatment because the drops I have been using for my Glaucoma, haven't kept the pressure down enough.
Fri. I get my hair did. I should get a pedi too, not sure where I will fit it in! Next week is DDS. I have not had a physical in a couple of years, so I need to take care of that! Oye Vey!!

Mary/MI said...

They "loaned us two large containers of water".

Dianne said...

Hi..MARY, so glad your son is working and not in pain. I'm sure he's glad to having income again too. I can't believe all the s is you've had this winter. We have had such a mild one but we still get snow in the next two months. The first day if Springbdorsnt always mean so much over here. It was nice of you to make dinner for your neighbors. You're so sweet! I wish you could taste some of that yummy cooking you're always doing. Have fun at your luncheon....sounds like you have a busy week.

We took my friend Fern out to dinner tonight and then back to her house for pie. We went to a good fried chicken place. I'm telling you all...I'm going to ww tomorrow but not weighing in for sure. I feel like after the weekend and the last two days that I have gained ten pounds plus I went to lunch too!!

Barb, boy carrying all that luggage around does not sound fun. I shop but not as much as I used too. The kids never want anything anymore. On our cruise we are parking at the terminal and dropping me and the luggage off. It costs $184 to,park there for seven days. I think that's a lot. I re-wear clothes too and this year we are not eating at the same table every night. We are trying "any time" dining. We've never done that so it will be interesting. I usually do late dinner at tsble for ten but last time we only had two people and I wasn't crazy about them.

JL, did you go with your friends tonight? Movie?

Just_Lin said...

Mary Congratulations to Matthew on the new job. That's great!

I'm so glad you are out of the cold. That was a long time to not have power. What great neighbors you have. I bet it's even more important to have good neighbors out there where you are and with the kind of weather you get. I really enjoy the young family that lives across the street from me. I have new neighbors renting a house next to me. So far, they are quiet, which is nice but they are a family of 4 and have 6 cars: two are in the driveway and two on the street and two work trucks on the street. Yikes! The rest of us feel like it looks like a car lot.

I, too, wish I could share in all that tasty food you're always making. Are you making corned beef and cabbage tomorrow? I am making a small one just for me.

Just_Lin said...

Barb I keep changing what I think I'm going to pack. I'm especially uncommitted when it comes to the two formal nights on the ship. I have now decided I will take one pair of black slacks which I will be using for other evenings out, also, but with extra fancy tops for the formal nights. That, and I have some blinged up sandals to put on my feet. That will have to be good enough. We have to dress pretty nice for the Moulin Rouge, too. There is a laundry room on the ship so I can wash stuff if I need to. Since I don't sweat, I don't think I will need to do laundry unless there's an unfortunate mishap of some kind. I don't know if I am packing enough underwear for the whole trip or if I'm just going to wash some along the way. That is easy enough to do in the ship's bathroom. Unfortunately, I have to take a butt load of medications. I wonder if I can take them in 3 weekly containers or if I should take them in their original bottles. I forget what I did when we went to England.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I have not been doing well with my food choices. Yesterday was a beautiful spring day and I was out running errands for a long time so I didn't feel like cooking for dinner. I ended up getting a turkey and cheese deli sandwich, a small pack of potato chips, and 2 little 7.5 oz Cokes. My weekly dinner with John and Jane got postponed to tonight. I just got on the scale and I'm up 3 lbs from where I was a couple of weeks ago. I need to get focused again on eating right. I can tell by the fit of my rings that some of it is water retention. Darn potato chips!

Right now, my daughter and I are set to have late dinner on the ship at a table for 8. We really enjoyed the dinner companions we had on our last trip so I hope we enjoy these, too. It's kind of a bummer when you don't hit it off. We've also done the free seating thing which worked out okay, too.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I just realized St. Patrick's Day isn't until Friday. I don't expect you'd make corned beef and cabbage tomorrow. What about Friday?

Mary/MI said...

JustLin, My son's are part Irish. I am not a big fan of corn beef unless it is really, really tender. I have never made it. Fish dinners are a big thing around here right now, with Lent.

Dianne, we had stuffed pork chops, mashed potatoes, steamed veggie, salad and a cookie for our meal. All free. :)
I didn't stay and visit like I usually do. I went to visit my Sis-in-law who is in the hospital just a few blocks from the union hall. I was shocked to see how bad she was! She was very disoriented and rambling while constantly unplugging some gadget she was attached to. She kept reaching out to things that weren't there! Her hubby who is 15 years her jr. looked so sad! He was trying so hard to be patient with her. She kept trying to pull her socks off and mumbling about needing to get some papers signed by 4:00. I think she is 78. It was so sad to see her like that. I know she has some kind of infection, not sure what else is messing her up!

Dianne said...

Hi....well, I ended up weighing in and lost 4.6. I had to go Dr early this morning and she weighed me. When I saw a loss I decided to go ahead and got weighed....glad I did. Quite a surprise!!!

Mary, your Easter lunch sounds really good. Sorry about your sister in law. Hard to see our family ill. I hope she gets better. I used to make corn beef for a different husband in the crockpot. We aren't too crazy about it either.

JL, nice that your ship has a laundry room. I wish ours did. We've had tables with really fun people too but not the last time. The lady gave herself a shot at the table every night. Now I understand it but I thought maybe she could do it before coming to the table. I have to take a lot of clothes too. I usually do what you're going to do with the black pants and dressy tops..l do have enough underwear. Your trip is getting really close.

Kayla got her prom dress this weekend and is doing well in school. Don't think she's heard from Jake but haven't heard. Wonder if he's been served the restraining order yet? I'll bet that really made him mad.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, Is Jake back in Denver or would he be served in California? Didn't he know a restraining order was going to be executed?

When do you go on the cruise? You probably told us, but my memory sucks.

sacBarb said...

J/L, Have you seen any of the interviews Nick and Vanessa have given since Monday. They don't appear to be very happy, imo, despite their saying that they are happy. I have gotten that impression from both their body language and from their answers to various questions. I may be way off base, but I'm not getting good vibes about their union!

sacBarb said...

Mary, I hope you have finally gotten warm. Our weather has been very warm last week and this week - in the high 70s and even got to 81 one day.

Todd's birthday is on St. Patrick's day and while he lived at home I always cooked corned beef and cabbage for his birthday. I haven't cooked it since he moved out. I do like it, but I don't like enough to eat it until it's all gone and you can't make just one portion. This year, since St. Pat's day is on a Friday during Lent, Todd's wife is going to make it for him on Saturday.

Dianne said...

Barb, Jake is back in Denver. Guess someone in his family figured out how to get him home. No, he didn't know there would be a restraining order. I doubt it's going over well....like we care!! I know he doesn't want to go to jail so hopefully he will stay away. She goes to court on Thursday to make it permanent. Hope that happens.

We are leaving on our driving trip the day after Memorisl Day and the cruise is June 2. We will then have a four day driving trip home thru Yellowstone and Montana.

I got married before on St Pats Day. That was always a fun celebration.....different husband.

We are having warm weather too. We went gambling today and the second machine I played for 50 cents p, I won $247. Boy, I was excited. I came home with about $157 more than I left with and that's good for me. It was a fun afternoon. Beautiful in the mountains.

LOUIS bought movie tickets for he and andy to see Kong tomorrow and now andy had to cancel. I guess he'll go alone as everyone seems to already have plans for tomorrow including me plus I don't want to see that movie. Can't get a refund on already purchased tickets ...second time andy has done this to him. Grr
