Happy New Year All

Hi....today was movie day for a LOUIS and I. We went to see Father Figures, lunch and the to Bad Moms Christmas. I thought they were funny and surprisingly LOUIS liked them too. They were not his kind of movie. We kind of wanted to go to the mountains gambling but couldn’t justify the money after the holiday. We had a nice dinner NYE with friends and were home by 9:30. Watched the ball drop and then off to bed. I didn’t care for the New York show at all. I hardly knew anyone.

How’s was the weekend for you all? Mary, how did NYE go for you? Did the weather hold out so the roads were okay? We were down to 2 degrees this am. Brrr but went up in the 30’s later.

JL and Barb, how are you both feeling?

I go for a check up with primary tomorrow for a surgery or procedure the end of the month. Fasting tonight just in case.

Dianne, NYE was very quiet for me. I went to bed early, but woke up at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep until about 5am. I woke up at 9 and turned on the TV to watch the rest of the parade. I felt crappy all day and mostly stayed in bed. I didn't even watch the Bachelor until today. I feel much better today. I wish I could feel better and stay that way. Tomorrow I have a dental check up and cleaning appointment. Ugh! What kind of surgery are you having at the end of the month?

Hi....

Barb, do you remember when I had that bladder surgery two years ago? They inserted a “intrastem” in my bottom cheek that helps with a weak bladder. It worked for awhile and the trial worked great but not anymore. I finally went in to see about getting it taken out but dr talked me into having an adjustment. She thinks the wire has moved his so I’m having it moved. If doesn’t work this time, m having it removed. It’s a procedure but have to be put out for it....not thrilled. We shall see and I really do like the dr.

I had a darn gain at ww today. It wasn’t a surprise but depressing. I did not overeat much or thought I didn't this year. It’s just disappointing.

What’s everyone up to this week? I recd your second card today, Barb. Thanks.

Happy New Year everyone!
NYE, went very well. Not too busy. People came and went as they had other places to go to. I liked that! My only problem was late in the night when some young gal wanted hip hop stuff. I rarely get asked that early because the crowd is a bit older then. Mostly country or rock n roll with some oldies. I keep the younger ones happy by playing dance music like "Cha cha slide","Wobble", country line dancing stuff, etc.
The weather was cold as hell, but no precipitation, so my drive there & back was great.

Raquel finally had her baby. She was induced in the morning and had it late in the afternoon. My sis sent me pics, but was asked not to put them out there until the parents did, which I understood. It was killing me though lol! She has so much hair! Raquel did too when she was born. My youngest Sis is now a Grandma and darn proud of it lol!

So far I have not caught nasty germs from anyone, which is a surprise with all the people I have been in contact with at Karaoke."knock on wood"..
Even with the below freezing temps, I have been doing my Tai Chi out on the patio.I have been working all year on balancing on one foot. It is supposed to help keep my balance in case of falls. I am able to hold for a least 45 sec. and some times longer, a bit tricky when it is snowing and windy lol!

I hope all who have been sick get to feeling better soon. Oh, and please stay on the higher branches until then LOL!!

Mary When I was visualizing you doing your Tai Chi out on the patio when it is snowy and windy, I imagined you looking like a weather vane, twirling in the wind. LOL I'm glad you had a safe journey and karaoke gig on NYE. You never know what you're going to get when people have an excuse to drink more. When I was younger, one of the things I looked forward to about retiring was being able to stay home or stay in bed on mornings when it was raining outside. I guess if I had your kind of weather, I'd never want to go out.

Congrats to Raquel on her new baby. I look forward to seeing the pic when you get the go ahead.

Dianne You were up early. I was up in the middle of the night because of the earthquake. I think I was already kind of awake when it hit. I don't recall now if it was due to changing positions in the bed or if I had just returned from going to the bathroom. It was a decent size shake though and may have caused me to wake up. Then I couldn't go back to bed so I read for a while. Then my stomach started growling and I knew I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep until I dealt with that. I ended up making a PB&J sandwich and sat down at the computer. I finally was able to go back to sleep once my stomach was quieted.

I hope your procedure works for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Barb How are you feeling today? I was only very sick for that one day but I do still notice that my stomach feels a little uncomfortable for a while after eating a meal. Nothing too bad. I had a nice dinner at a friend's house last night. She had just started the Atkin's Diet which she does periodically. At this first stage, she does not have carbs for two weeks. For dinner she made some yummy garlic shrimp in the oven and some parmasan encrusted green beans and some spiralized garlic seasoned zucchini. Actually, all of it was made in the oven and was very tasty. For desert she made a chocolate mouse/pudding using ricotta cheese, yogurt, and sugar free chocolate pudding. We topped that with sliced almonds and mini chocolate chips. It was very nice. I should try to be more creative with cooking healthy foods. I might get a spiralizer as I enjoyed that quite a lot.

Well, I. A little nervous tonight. I’ll print why...long message,,,Well, got my blood test results today and dr said I was “dangerously low” anemic. I had to go in stat for another blood test this afternoon to see if it was the same or a lab error. Dr personally called back tonight saying it was still too low. Low is 34 and I’m 24 ..usually I’m 40. I have 10:30 dr appt tomorrow but she wanted me to go to ER tonight. I really didn’t want to as it’s such a long process. I tried to see if I could just take some iron and get checked again in a week. Answer was no! She finally agreed to let me wait until appt tomorrow for her to do a gross check. If it shows anything, bring a bag and go to er. The only part that made me nervous is my heart can’t pump with it low and she doesn’t want it to go down even one point. She also has put a hold on my Jan 30 bladder surgery. I’m very disappointed regarding that issue. It’s taken forever to get it scheduled. If check up doesn’t show anything then I still have to go to gastro dr to see why it dropped so quickly and if I have a bleeding ulcer or whatever. I feel fine. Just wanted to let you know

Dianne Oh, this is no way to start your new year. I will keep you in my prayers and hope that results are better tomorrow. It is a mystery, though, and they need to get to the bottom of it.

JL, I know especially when I was just going for a darn pre op blood test. It was hard to decide if I should go to ER tonight. I know how many hours you have to sit there yesterday I’m kind of scared too. This same thing happened with my sodium level a few months ago. It okay now but I had to cut back on my water intake. Crazy.

Thanks for putting me in prayers....I appreciate it.

Mary/MI said...

Dianne, you have me worrying like an old mother hen!! I can't believe you didn't follow your Drs orders and go to the ER! Do I have to go down there?? If anyone of us told you that same thing you would scold us!!! Please keep us updated!!

JustLin, your friend's dinner sounds wonderful! I have not been eating very nutritionally lately. I miss running to my garden for fresh veggies and taking my long walks. These temps have kept my walks very short. It is 8 below zero right now. It's 10:30 pm and will drop more by morning. Many schools are closed tomorrow. It would be too dangerous for students to be waiting at bus stops.
I just came in from doing my Tai Chi ( looking like a weather vane lol). For some reason the cold doesn't bother me then.

Barb, I am worried about you too! Check in please!

Hi...

I’m home tonight. Glad to be here. Had two blood transfusions yesterday and procedure to find the bleeding today. Found lesions in stomach and dr cauterized some of them. Have to do out patient again in Two mos and then two more after that. I feel fine though. No food until tomorrow snd im hungry. Lots of flu iv fluids and blood drawers every two hours all day and night. Not fun when can’t find veins! So many people with flu at hospital. Glad we had shots. Dr said even if you get flu shot helps with shorter recovery. AnywY, thanks for prayers ...I appreciate it a lot. Xxoo

Dianne, Gurlfriend!! You sure know how to scare me!! I sure hope they get to the bottom of this! I know how you love to have your blood drawn! I can hear your tummy growling all the way from Michigan! Will you be on a restricted diet?

Today we went to a friend's 70th Birthday party. Tomorrow we have to go to my Bro-in-laws 60th. It is about an hrs drive toward Lake Michigan. I hope the snow holds off. They get a lot of lake effect snow and I am not fond of the off ramp. It goes in every weird direction. You really have to be on your toes!

Happy New Year everyone.

Dianne, I'm so sorry you are having anemia issues. It sounds very dangerous and I hope they can get it leveled off soon. Will you be able to get the procedure on your bum rescheduled soon, or do you have to wait until all the blood checks are finished? I, too, will keep you in my prayers.

J/L, I heard about the earthquake and wondered if it affected you. It didn't reach Sac, as far as I know. I have one of those spiral thingys that I won when I was going through the Kaiser weight management program, but I have never used it. I should start cooking more since my kidney disease has progressed a little. I haven't started doing that yet. We went to a restaurant for lunch before the play on Thursday and I had salmon instead of my usual grilled cheese, sweet potato fries and tomato soup. They make very good sweet potato fries, but the salmon was also very good and better for me. They served it with a pomegranate and orange relish that was delish. Did you like "Something's Rotten" when you saw it with Liz? It was very funny and we liked it a lot, especially the song with so many references to other musicals. It is one of the few shows that I have not seen before and I would definitely see it again!

Mary, Thank you for worrying about me. I am doing much better. One of the doctors I have seen recently recommended that I go to a tai chi class to improve my balance. I am looking into it, but I wouldn't do it outside in the freezing cold. I applaud you for doing that. Congratz to Raquel and family. Looking forward to seeing pics.

Dianne I'm so glad they found the issue that was causing the problem. At least it is getting dealt with now which is the good news. The hospitals here have been overrun with flu patients, too, and I think they are to the point they really don't want people coming in unless they really have to. Meds are being prescribed over the phone when they can. My friends that I usually have dinner with every week have been sick but not with the flu, at least not yet, they've been going back and forth to the doctor all week so have been exposed to a lot. John has asthmatic bronchitis and Jane had strep throat. This new year sure has been a sickly one for a lot of people.

As we discussed by text, I still have my Christmas decorations up. It won't be difficult to put it all away but I was late getting them up so I'm not ready to pack them away yet. I like the lights on my little tree and also on the garland I have laying across the mantel. We do have a bit of a storm on the way so maybe I'll at least remove the wreath from the door now while it's dry.

Mary Oh, I hope that drive today is easier than you expect. I would just hate to have to drive in crappy weather. In a few weeks I will be driving up to my daughter's in the early morning with my dog and am hoping it will be a clear day and no accidents on the road to screw up the commute. Once I get to her place with is an hour away, we will drive to Sacramento to get on a plane to go to Seattle for a few days. That airport is another hour away or so from the airport. Usually for our trips together, she comes down here and we fly out of San Francisco. I'm already worried about something happening on the road to make me late to get to her place. My dog and her stuff will stay at her house and her ex-boyfriend who she still shares the house with her will take care of all our dogs.

Be careful doing your tai chi outside. If you stand still too long you might turn into a garden gnome.

Oh, and congrats again on the new addition to your family. She's a gorgeous little baby.

Barb I'm glad you are finally feeling better and that you were able to go to the play. Yes, Elizabeth and I both enjoyed that it a lot. I, too, really thought the number that referred to so many other musicals was lots of fun and very clever.

One thing about the earthquake that concerns me a bit is that I haven't heard or felt anything about any aftershocks. That concerns me as I am wondering if the earthquake might not be a precursor to something bigger. Hmmm.....

I think I might be on the mend now, too. Yesterday was a pretty good day and I feel okay today, so far. Will you be watching the Golden Globes tonight? I will. I even have snacks for it but I'll see how my stomach feels by then.
