Dianne It sounds like you had a wonderful time on your road trip and now you can look forward to another one in November. The weather will be milder then, right? Were you planning to be there during Thanksgiving Day? That would be one reason for the high airline costs.

I'm glad your leg is feeling better. What's going on with it? I don't think I know. Maybe you told us and I just forgot....my mind is like a sieve in my old age.

I bet when you got on the scale it wasn't as bad as you feared because you were active while you were gone. You might have puffed up a bit from the heat, though. I always have trouble with that and even more so now that my weight is back to being it's highest. My friends and I are going to House of Prime Rib this Tuesday and I will get serious about diet again after that. I am thinking of eating more plant based meals and moving away from so much meat. I know if I watched one of the documentaries about how we grow and processed the animals, I would not be able to sleep at night, it would be so upsetting.

Sorry for going down that dark train of thought. Welcome home! LOL

Mary I'm so sorry about your knee and how much pain it gives you. Do you have any timeline on when you can get it fixed? I'm really surprised that the surgeon that put in the knee replacement didn't keep a closer eye on how it was healing. That seems weird to me. Are you going to be using the same surgeon again?

The hell of July 4 is starting around here already. I wish they would outlaw fireworks in our city, especially since there is only one other city in our county that sells legal ones. There are so many illegal ones and they just use the noise of the legal ones to mask their use of the illegal ones. Friday night around 11:30, I walked my dog out front so she could do her final pee of the night and someone on the street below me set off an M80. It was like a freakin' bomb. Scared the dog, of course. Fortunately, she really had to pee so was able to hurriedly do that before pulling me back to the front door of the house. The next morning, she was out on the back deck enjoying the sunshine when someone (probably the same jerk) set off a firecracker. That ruined the morning for the dog. Even hours later when I opened the back door and asked her if she wanted to go out, she started trembling. I HATE July 4 around here. I have tranquilizers for her for when the day actually comes.

Barb It's a beautiful day here on the coast but it's supposed to be triple digits inland. I bet it's hot where you are. It's a good day to stay inside. Is Chad still there? Has be pulled any more jokes on the cats? LOL

Except for running a couple of errands, my life has been quite boring. I made a trip to the dollar store the other day to get a plastic table cloth to use on my table when I get inspired to get my paints out. That hasn't happened, yet, though.

I am having the worse time with a mole or (family of moles) ripping up the front lawn. I've been here for decades and never had this problem before. A black cat has been showing up to check out the mole hills. This is quite exciting to my dog when she sees it through the window. She gets very excited and whines and wags her tail. Not sure what that means but I'm sure she'd like to chase it. When I first got her, I had to very old kitties and she was afraid of them. Maybe she thinks it's one of her cats reincarnated. LOL One of those last cats was named "Beaner". If I call out "Beaner, Beaner, Beaner", the dog runs to the front window and stands up at it to look out.

Well...I gained 12 pounds so needless to say, I’m back on my water pills. I only took one while we were gone as not convenient for bathrooms during shows. I started with one last night. I sure I hope I knock some of these pounds off before weight watchers on Wednesday.

JL, yes, the weather should be pretty nice in November, I just worry about snow driving there. We are going over Thanksgiving so you’re right about the airfare. I’d not thought of that issue. My leg started hurting before vacation right where it hooks on to your body. The PA said it was probably a strained tendon. It hurt bad the whole trip. It’s better but not well. The put me on prednisone but it didn’t help with the pain. I was very glad we had the travel chair with us. I think Mary’s surgery is set for November unless they get a cancellation. Enjoy uour prime rib dinner. Yum. That sounds good. I feel bad for Ursula with being so afraid. We are outlawed here but no one seems to pay much attention to it.

It’s thundering bad right now. It’s only 70 today and nice and cool. I met some friends for early breakfast and then went to grocery store.
I guess I’ll do another load of wash and keep working on unpacking. I think I might have shopped too much.

Barb, well how’s the neighbor thing going. Did you get your flower all fixed? I know your reunion is soon but don’t remember when it will be happening. Hope you enjoy yourself.

Mary, well...what happened with the Vegas trip? Any updates?

Justlin, No I will not be using the same surgeon. I am scheduled for Nove. I was asked to call their private number every Tues. to see if there were any cancellations, so it could be sooner.
It is frustrating that I have to limit my walking. My neighbor, her son, his girlfriend and their 3 dogs just stopped by on their walk to take Queenie with them. She remembered them from other walks when she was just a pup.. She sure was one happy dog! They took her on a long walk way back on their property. They like to watch the sun set over their highest hill.

Dianne, I was relieved to know you were home! Road trips make me nervous! Too many idiot drivers out there!
Jim has been good about calling me every day. The first part of the week he sounded unsure of himself and a bit lonely. He now thinks 7 days in Vegas is a bit too long. lol! Toward the end of the week he sounded much more confident. His voice is coming
back from the vent being in so long. All in all I think it was a good experience for him.
Now I have to give h im some bad news. His sister Shirley called to tell their brother Rick from Boston has just been diagnosed with Lymphoma. She didn't seem to have much information. I know there are different types. It's hard to Google when I don't have all the info.
I don't dare tell Jim. I don't want him thinking about hie brother while he should be concentrating on getting to and through the airport in Vegas.

Hello quiet little hooters. Well...it was a record 105 here today. No humidity but still too hot for this old gal. When you get in car it registers like 110! It’s in the 60’s Tonight but back up high again tomorrow. I went to dr yesterday and she ordered a nebulizer for ne because of this cough. I recd it but now waiting for the meds. My leg we are going to wait a couple of weeks and if not better do X-rays. I can’t anti inflammatory because of the stomach bleeding thing. I’ve finally unpacked and put everything away. What a job.

Mary, sounds like Jim did ok in Vegas. I’m sure he’s glad to be home now. Next time you both can go. Any news when you called dr tuesday? It was nice of your neighbor to take your dog for a walk. So sorry about Jim’s Brother. Have you found out any more details? Is he older or younger?

JL, your dinner looked very good. It made me hungry looking at it in pictures. I weighed in yesterday and had a 6 proud gain. NO surprise. hope You enjoyed it. Barb and I are going to see Oceans 8 Sunday am.

Barb, how are things going?

Dianne It looks like it's going to be a hot one here today, not as bad as your temps, although it will be for those who are inland. I go out on the back deck every morning to put out birdseed for the birds and peanuts for the squirrels and large birds. When I feel to hot wearing my robe, I know it's gong to be an unusually warm day for us.

The dinner was wonderful, as I knew it would be. They only do prime rib and it is exceptionally good meat. They prepare their signature salad at the table. Sides are Yorkshire Pudding, mashed or baked potato, and creamed corn or creamed spinach (John doesn't like creamed spinach so they sauteed some for him). We also had dessert. I had to laugh at your comment here on the blog as it sounded like you were hoping I enjoyed your weight gain. LOL

Mary November is a long time to wait for your surgery. I hope you can get in sooner. Now that you know surgery is needed, I'm sure you are anxious to get it done. You've put up with the pain way too long.

So did Jim come home a winner or are you his lucky charm?

I'm sorry about the sad news regarding Jim's brother. Has it been very long since he's seen him?

Now that I've got that big prime rib dinner behind me, I'm thinking of trying to eat less meat. I made a vegan recipe I found in People Magazine that I really liked and ate it with rice for 3 dinners. It has crushed red pepper flakes in it so has a nice kick to it. Now that I'm alone, it's very tempting to just do whatever is easy. I might go out to a local restaurant tonight. They make a nice shrimp-on-a-skewer dinner that I enjoy.

Barb What's up? Except for our guilty pleasure of watching Bachelorette, you've been very quiet. You must be enjoying your son's company. Any more problems with those weird neighbors of yours?

Dianne, our heat index (feels like) for the next week is above 100*. It has been many years since we have been that hot! Zoie & I tried to sit out on the patio under the umbrella. I didn't let her feet touch the floor due to the heat. I held her, then put her on a cool cushion under the table/umbrella. We didn't last 10 minutes lol!
Jim didn't come back a winner, but didn't lose a lot. He was definitely glad to be home!

Justlin, I have called the Drs office every Tuesday, still no cancellations. I will continue to call as they suggested. The pain is worse at night. During the day its mostly discomfort and limited activity. You know I HATE that! I will prolly gain more wait :( . I am not fond of surgery, but am really ready to have this done! If I have to wait until Nove, I may not be able to go to Vegas in Dec with Jim. He needs my lucky charm lol!

Barb, where 4 art thou?

Hi.... well, yesterday afternoon we had a surprise retirement party for LOUIS at my friends house. We had about 20 people and he was very surprised. I sent out invitations about a month ago. It was very fun. It’s funny how we “party” now. It started at 4 and we were home by 8:30 ..big partiers! We’ve had horribly hot weather and yesterday it was nice in 70’s but right when all the food was out and we were getting ready to eat a huge wind cane up and rain...of all days. Everyone moved inside.

LOUIS has been planning on working part time doing two classes for the fall and in the middle of the party came and told me he might not now. Soooo, we have a party and he decide not to work ...hmmm

Mary, glad Jim did well in Vegas. It sounds like you are his lucky charm. Glad he won a little. Your weather sounds like ours except we have no humidity. It feels hotter to me here than it did on vacation.

JL, I’ve never heard of a restaurant that only does prime rib. I would love it. Your video of the ocean waves was so nice. I was ready to come over there. Do you go enjoy it much? Seems like it would be nice to live so close to the ocean.

Did I already tell you all that Tammy is getting married September 1st? It was going to be in a year but James didn’t really want to wait another year. She’s very busy making making the plans. Bad news is that James got laid off from his job Monday. His whole dept was let go. It was a surprise. He’s been with Comcast which is our large cable company.

Barb, you need to get back in here. We miss you.

Oh btw, Barb and I went to Oceans 8 and both just about fell asleep in the first half. The second half picked up. I’d say wait until it’s on tv

Dianne, I went and got gross-eries today, while Jim went to the Casino. I spent $120.00 and he won $1,000. What's wrong with this picture lol!!
Congrats on Tammy getting married and boo on James getting layed off!

I am still carrying Zoie in and out to do her business. I test the patio by walking on it with my bare feet. Too hot for me, then it's too hot for her. Luckily we have a lot of shade trees, so she doesn't scorch her paws.

Jim's Birthday is this Sat. I need to order his cake and get his gift. What do you give a man that has everything? Lottery tickets lol. He loves them. Sure makes shopping easy!

It is such a boring day. i would love to go for a LONG walk, but the temps and my knee say "NO!" :(

waving at Barb and Justlin ~~~~

Hi....anyone have plans for tomorrow? We are merting our friends that hosted Louis’s party for lunch in the mountains....our treat. LOUIS and I may take a little ride afterwards but want to beat the traffic home plus we like the 4th of July specials on tv. That’s about it for us. Hearing fireworks now but think it’s at our park. We should be in parking lot watching them but I’m laying down listening to music and LOUIS is napping. We are so darn exciting.

I’m going to give Barb and JL a gentle nudge

Mary, loved the picture of Jim on fb. He looks very healthy and cheerful. Is he sharing his $1000 with you? LOUIS would probably give me a $100. Hope Jim has a nice birthday. Are you going to dinner or anything? Very easy shopping. Has he ever won much on Tickets?

I made our show reservations in Branson and extended our hotel reservation so we could stay and see Frankie Avalon. How weird is this...I was texting Tammy asking her if she knew who he was and right then on my music comes the song Venus. I haven’t heard that song forever!

Well, happy 4th to you all.
