Dianne, that was funny!
Did you get my "before & after" salon pics? Scary eh? LOL
I took Jim to his neurologist Thursday. He checked Jim's legs for blockage. One leg has more blockage than the other, but not at a danger point...yet! He said it would help if he quit smoking. Jim lit up 3 times before we got home!
He had a good day yesterday, today so far, not so good. He tires easily. We have to make an apptm. with his cardiologist.

SacBarb. My little pill is "Meloxicam" I only take a half when needed. Believe me, cutting that tiny pill in half is a trick!
Many people in Michigan have the generator, due to all the snowstorms and summer rain storms. When the power grids are overwhelmed due to overage from so many using their ac s, they break down, sometimes for many days. We have a small generator that runs on gas. We have extension cords running all through the house connected to it. Messy, and dangerous. I am always afraid one of us will trip on them! Now when the power goes out the whole house will automatically switch to the installed generator. No more running out to refuel the tank in the middle of winter, or those nasty cords running through the house. It didn't work to keep us warm because we have base board heaters (electric), couldn't cook, or use any appliances. My nerves will be better for it too lol!!

JustLin, Yay for freebies!! That was a nice surprise! Have been out and about this week? I did a bit of grocery shopping and took Jim to the Dr. My Niece Raquel surprised me with a visit with Myla. She did call to make sure I would be home. Myla was a delight! For some reason she is fascinated with my bedroom. She like going up and down Zoie's ramp, laying down and covering up with her blankie. This goes on the whole time she is here lol! Too funny.

Seaside, I sure do miss your comments on FB :( A gal I met in Hawaii, that goes by the name "Sunway sunway" was made to change it to a different spelling. They wouldn't believe that was her actual name! She now goes by "Sunway Sunwei" crazy FB!
Hope all is well with you!

Mary I did have a big outing on Thursday. I had a doctor appointment at 1:30 on 4th floor, then a mammogram at 2:00 on 3rd floor, then lab appointment for blood draw at 2:45 on 4th floor again. Then I came home and had a PT telephone appointment regarding my shoulder. The doctor had done a lot of manipulation of my arm and shoulder to check strength and range of motion, etc. What bothered it most, though, was when I had to have mammogram of left breast which required I keep my bad left arm up and extended around the x-ray apparatus to keep it out of the way. It was really uncomfortable. My arm and shoulder were quite sore after all that.

I wish your Jim would follow doctor's recommendations. I only quit smoking once and I guess that is because I didn't want to have to go through those first few days again. I'm so glad I never went back. Plus, smoking has gotten very expensive now. I used to buy cartons from some Indian tribe in the East which saved me a lot of money but I don't know if you can even do that anymore.

Your little great niece is a cutie. I imagine the dog's bed ramp was a lot of fun for her. My daughter has a bedroom here for herself for when she comes down. She has a doggie ramp for her chihuahua.

Barb I'm really sorry about Todd being laid off. What a double blessing that he continues to have health insurance and he has another job lined up. So many people are in big financial trouble due to this pandemic. I'm so thankful to have a roof over my head.

No, I don't have a Thundershirt for Ursula. To be honest, I don't think it would help. Hugging her or keeping her close doesn't help her. Her instinct is to get under a table. I guess she thinks debris will be falling or maybe she thinks she's hiding. From what I understand, you have to get them acclimated to the "shirt" and there's no time for that. I wonder what they cost as she would need a big size. I believe it would just be a waste of my money, though.

Speaking of animals.....I had my dog at the vet last Saturday and one of the things they did was some blood work. By yesterday, I still hadn't heard the results so I gave them a call and they were closed. They will be closed until July 6 because there was an incident of exposure to COVID so they all have to be tested. To date, there have been 59 cases in Pacifica. There are tons of people at the beach today and, of course, they are not wearing masks.

Seaside A little while ago, I was watching TWO woodpeckers in my backyard. This is what passes for excitement foe me. I've never seen two at the same time before. They spent a good amount of time preening and then went back to hunting for bugs. This would have been exciting for me even before the pandemic. LOL

Ursula is a pit bull and the sweetest dog ever. Everyone loves her. She's great with kids and other dogs. She was afraid of the two old kitties I had when I first got her. Now the kitties are gone and I know she would chase a cat in the yard. She wants to chase the squirrels, that's for sure. Right now she is under the dining room table because some jackass set of some explosive. At this point, I really hate these people.

Dianne Thanks for the joke. That was a good one. It seems appropriate coming from you, Miss Betty Crocker. Did you make the cake yet? I would love to have some cake. I have stuff to make brownies or chocolate chip cookies but I haven't had the energy to do it. It's been warm here lately (by our coastside standards) so turning the oven on is really not appealing. I have no idea what to do for dinner tonight. I did have a big lunch and a late one so I may just open a can of soup. Speaking of cans....I opened a can of chili and it kind of exploded chili up into my hand. I didn't trust it then and threw it out.

So, is Ben the same loser boyfriend that you didn't like before (the one with the grandmother) or a new one? I wish Kayla would raise her expectations.

Hi....well, it’s Sunday night! Another fun filled weekend... not! Went to Costco with Louis today. Yesterday barb and I went outside to a place to eat. The covered patio is nice but it was starting to get warm to me. Mary, I did see your picture. You look beautiful in both of them but it does make you feel like a different person to get those roots covered. How often do you go? I have to go every four weeks. I get roots one time and highlighted the next time. I was still having to go every four weeks without highlights. I’m so sad that Jim continues to smoke. Doesn’t he remember how scared and stressed you were when he was so sick? As I recall he said he wouldn’t do that to you again. Men...they get their minds made up and it’s hard to change it! How fun to have your niece and Myla visit. I’ll bet she loved that ramp. Do you have Zoie around her or not? Zoie might not want to share. . Lol

JL...no, I haven’t made my cake yet. I had to get another yogurt as my other one expired. I seriously plan on doing it this week. The cake pan is still sitting on the counter. We went to Ems bday dinner Friday night and the lady that made her cake made me a carrot cake for a surprise. Well, we cut it for take home for everyone and I finally had a small piece tonight. I like nuts and raisins but this didn’t have that and the thick frosting is butter creme. It was ok but I probably won’t have more. I can’t remember if I told you all that finally went to Ww weigh in only wed. My last weigh in was feb 8 before cruise. We have to weigh with shoes now too. I was dreading it but I only gained four pounds. It was quite a shock. Sorry if I’ve already told you this on the last blog....I’m excited. I think I must have gained some inches as my tops feel tight in the middle! It is good motivation though..Hopefully. Ben has been the boyfriend the last couple of years. He has a grandmother I talk to on Ww site but I think you’re thinking of jakes grandmother. Oh how I wish she’d raise those expectations too. She still feels like any issues with her and Ben are her fault like jake made her feel. Think she still needs to be in counseling but hard to make a 21 year old do that on our say so. I know Tammy encourages her to start again. Boy, I hate to hear you beaches are crowded. Is that ok with everything getting worse there or do they even police it?

Barb, sorry Todd was laid off. I’m sure glad he got something else. What kind of work does his wife do? Glad he still has those health benefits. Are you watching any special shows now? I’m watching America’s Got Talent. This week is the first week without an audience. I think that will make a difference in judges decisions as they say a lot that they’re going with the crowd. It’s about the only thing I watch. I record dr Phil and then erase them all. Last week I was desperate so watched an episode. Hmm, the lady’s husband had been has been having an affair with a guy for 18 years. They’ve been married for 17! It was a rather weird show. I admit I did watch the whole show though. I was desperate I said. Did you decide to go to a hair salon yet? What about you,,JL? Nails?

Seaside, I’d be glad to contact fb for you too. How would we do it...any ideas? It’s crazy that they don’t even contact you. So, is there anything being said about changing the Raiders name? It doesn’t seem like they would do it but who knows with the move and everything.

I went on a Zoom call tonight with The Texas Tenor fans and one of the singers came on for the two hour zoom. He answered lots of questions and just chatted. A lot of the gals know him since they’ve been to hundreds...yes hundreds...of shows. I’ve been to eight. They are getting ready to start performing in Branson mid July and he was talking about how different it would be with everyone spaced. There was a husband fan on there and he was really mad. They always sit in front row and now there may not be a front row. They will start with second and do every other row or something. It’s not figured out yet. He’ll still be in front. His wife took over and he got off. Thank goodness. It was a fun call though.

Dianne, how exciting to have a Texas Tenor join in on the Zoom! I haven't gotten brave enough for the "Zoom room" lol! I have been watching Americas got talent off & on. I can't wait until "The Voice" is back!

JustLin, are you still "pecker watching" out your window. I may say, it sounds very interesting lol!

Today has been a scorcher! I have been walking Jim's dog. He has been having dizzy spells. The heat def. does not help! I walked out on the patio barefooted to test for Zoie. I was only out there for a few seconds and I think my feet almost blistered!
I will be carrying Zoing to a shady spot all week!

I am going for a pedi today at 3:30. I called today hoping to make an appmt. I was surprised to get in so fast. My toes will be so happy!!

I just made a bunt cake and trying to figure out what to make for supper. Probably spegg. & meatballs.

My back is hurting a bit. I sold my huge heavy treadmill to Raquel. They picked it up today. I wiped it down and tried to get it as close to the basement door as I could. I forgot h ow heavy it was. At least 300 lbs! I'm glad it's gone. I just use my recumbent bike. I keep it on the patio, so I use it more often.

later.....

Hi...I’m about to send an a “calling all hooters” text. How are you all? Well, it’s the holiday weekend and I wonder if anyone has any kind of plans or food ideas for the weekend? I still haven’t made my cake but I need to this weekend before my yogurt expires again. Mary, It was really fun to have the TT join in. I was star struck! He’s my favorite adorable one too. How’s Jim? Did you get his cardio dr appt yet? I’m watching AGT too it’s weird without an audience, isn’t it? I’ll be watching the Voice too,and I’m glad Gwen will be back on next time. Louis and I need to get back walking again...it’s just so hot that’s it’s easy to not go. I should get on my bike but I’ll have to take the clothes off that are hanging on it first. Next week I have exciting plans...a mammo and bone density and then hair that sat. I can hardly contain my excitement.

Seaside, JL, and Barb...hello......it sounds like an echo

Helloooo, I am finally here. I was having trouble getting in. I finally got a message about the server and had to click on a bunch of new stuff. I am so challenged when it comes to techy things! I had a video appointment with my kidney doc on Tuesday and it took forever to get in. Her tech called me 15 minutes before to get it set up and it wasn’t working. We had the audio but fot some reason the camera wouldn’t work. I asked if we could just do the audio and the tech said she (the doc) really wanted to see me. Finally, we got it to work. I had already been to the lab the week before, so she had those results. The blood work was OK, sorta, but I have a UTI. So she called in a RX. I have been having back aches, but I thought it was from doing housework, since my housekeeper still isn’t coming. Hopefully the RX will fix the problem.

Mary, is your generator installed yet? I’m so happy for you that you will have heat in the cold weather if you lose power. That extension cord issue really sounds dangerous. I bet Myla is really getting big. How nice that Raquel brought her over. My grandson Josh and his wife Allie have decided not to have any kids, so we won’t be having any little ones around. That also means that Josh will be the last Armstrong! Bob had a brother, but he was killed in an auto accident when he was 20, and both of his sisters have a different father. There aren’t any other relatives alive that we know of. Todd had his DNA done and there were some relatives that showed up on his results, but they are all from Bob’s mother’s side.

Dianne, how exciting that you were able to zoom with the TT fans and one of the singers. I haven’t ventured into zoom yet. The Senior Center does an update on zoom every week, but I haven’t joined in, yet. After the trouble I had getting on video for the doctor’s call, I am afraid I will screw it up.

JL, Thanks for the nudge. I am sorry I keep lapsing on posting. It’s not like I have too much going on, I just don’t have that much to say. We have no plans for the holiday. Chad is cooking a small prime rib on the smoker that will be ready about 6:00. We’ll have enough for two meals. He got it a while back when Raley’s had a sale and he put it in the freezer. He’s trying a new method, using a rub he made and smoking it. I hope it will be good.
I am so glad Todd has a job, too. They have a huge house payment. Vicki is an executive assistant for a company that places nurses in jobs around the country. Something like an employment agency, but they do more than just place them in jobs. I’m not sure what all it entails. Todd manages an IT department where they develop web pages for the advertising of different companies. The last company handled the ads for gyms and health clubs, all of which had to close for the pandemic. They tried to hold on to all the employees, but their revenue dropped so much, they finally had to downsize. Todd had been there nine years, and he was the lowest seniority manager. They combined two divisions to save as many employees as they could, so a manager had to be eliminated. 😢 so far his new job is going OK. He’s working with the learning curve as is always the case in a new job.

Seaside, I hope all is well at your house. Give Gidget a big kiss and a tummy fluff from me.

Dianne Oh, Jake-ass. I totally forgot that was his name and yes, I was thinking he and Ben might be the same guy. Are they kind of the same, just different names? Kayla is young enough to make mistakes as long as they aren't mistakes that she can't rectify.

I made the WW recipe for vegetable soup last night so I will be eating that for a while. It makes a lot! I also add a can of diced tomatoes to it. I went to go on the WW site on my Android to double check something about the soup recipe and I couldn't get in anymore without an update which my old Android was not compatible with. This is also why I couldn't do a video doctor visit and had to go in in person for my annual exam. My older phone was not compatible with their program that would have allowed a video visit. I still had to be there in person for the mammogram and lab work, anyway. I think I'm going to be forced to get an updated phone. I hate to do it and have payments on it, again. I guess it won't be for a while anyway because I think I would want to see the phones in person before I bought one.

How exciting for you when the TT guy came on the video chat with the rest of you. It sounds like they have some very dedicated fans.

I have nothing exciting planned for the 4th. I'll have to give the dog tranquilizers and it is not going to be a fun time at all.

Mary As I was re-reading your posts to refresh my memory, your comment about making a Bundt cake inspires me to make some brownies so I have taken out a cube of butter to soften. Now that it's in my mind, I can hardly wait. LOL

You should not have been shoving that treadmill around by yourself. Where was Matthew? Couldn't he have helped you? I swear to god, I can't remember things as well as i used to but aren't you the one with the bad shoulder? Are you still doing your PT exercises? I'm doing mine twice a day. I hope in time I will see benefit from it. I did some major grocery shopping the other day and I guess I overworked my arm/shoulder. By the time I got all the bags of groceries into the house, I just wanted to cry but I still had to put it all away. I think I'm going to have to go to the store more often than what I've been doing since the pandemic started. The longer I wait, the more I have to get.

Just_Lin said...

Barb There you are! I'm glad you were able to get back in.

I've been checking our county website to keep up to date on COVID in our county and in Pacifica, specifically. I'm a bit concerned that last Friday there had been 59 cases reported in Pacifica and today that number jumped to 75. That's the biggest increase we've ever had. I broke my own rules yesterday by meeting my good friend for breakfast yesterday at the local coffee shop. She's the one whose husband died in February and yesterday would have been their anniversary. I knew it was going to be a tough day for her. She does spend time at her son's house around him and his family so I am hoping our visit yesterday wasn't something I will be sorry four. I guess time will tell.

You're lucky that your son likes to grill and makes some yummy sounding stuff. My son does, too. My husband really liked to grill and also cook in the kitchen. I miss being able to let someone else take control of the "what's for dinner" question. Tonight I'll be having more of the WW vegetable soup I made last night. Tomorrow I'll take a break from it and make myself a piece of fish, baked potato and corn on the cob.

They've closed the parking lots for the beaches but I don't know how they are going to keep people off of the beaches this weekend. Closing the parking lots just means that people take up all the parking spaces at the local shopping centers, instead. There's been a lot of whale activity out there lately and I guess the waves have been good because there's lots of surfers, too.

Just_Lin said...

Seaside Where are you? I hope you have a nice weekend and that Gidget doesn't get too upset with the fireworks. I'm not looking forward to this at all. My poor dog thinks the world is coming to an end.
