HAPPY NEW YEAR, OWLS!

Did any of you do anything fun on New Year's Eve? I suspect you did what I did which was to stay home. My friend Jane did come over and we ordered out for dinner from an Italian restaurant. After dinner, we caught up on 2 episodes of Gilded Age, watched the new Vera movie on Prime Video, and watched the first few episodes of the second season of Julia. That was about it except for a midnight toast with Bailey's Irish Cream.

Today I took down my little Christmas tree and all the Christmas decorations. It's so boring without them. My daughter and her dogs drove home on Saturday and that was sad for me. At least she got to be here for a week which I really enjoyed. It was my first time meeting her newest dog, Clio, who is only 10 months old and very energetic. A few days before she drove down from Oregon, she was notified that she's been laid off after being with the company for 24 years. She was an Operations Manager. Others were laid off, too, but that doesn't make it any less upsetting. She does have 4 month severance pay and they've provided counseling on updating resume, etc. Now days you have to have a "Brand" and a "Brand statement". It's a whole new world.

Mary, I hope you are feeling much better now. I saw on the news that there has been a rise in upper respiratory illnesses including COVID, RSV, flu, etc. Also, I am so sorry about the unexpected loss of your nephew. Do you know what happened?

Dianne, how are you and Louis doing? Are you gaining more confidence with the step in the garage and with driving? That was a episode you had with the car. I saw that Tammy and the group all went to Mexico. I haven't seen any pics from that trip except at the airport with their coordinating shirts.

Barb, how are you doing with your PT for your arms. It's a slow process but you will hopefully gain more motion a little tiny bit at a time. Eventually, it all adds up so keep doing them. My knee still doesn't feel all the way normal but it is certainly a lot better than it used to be. I'm just mindful not to do anything to risk making it worse again. At one point, it seems I had bad knee, shin splints, and plantar fasciitis all at the same time. It definitely put a hamper on my pre-holiday preparations. I did finally get some baking done and managed to get it mailed in time.

Wishing us all good health and happiness in the new year. Really hoping my daughter gets a new good job, too, as she has that new mortgage and is single.

Hi everyone. I’m doing better than Louis. He’s in so much pain with his hip. He gets shots for third time on the 10th .and starts pt on the 8th I graduated from ot last week and I will with pt this week. They don’t feel like I need any additional therapy I’m still apprehensive with I approach the step and louis has always been here. The r more bars installed than a prison here! Im feeling good And will get my car fixed tmrw. I haven’t been going much and louis takes me or people visit me. I’ve gotten spoiled with people bringing food and visiting. I see my primary on Wednesday .
JL, I’m so sorry about your daughter’s job. Why do they always do that during the holidays. What does your daughter do for a job? I’m glad you enjoyed her time with you for Christmas. We stayed home last night. We were going to an early dinner but I bought shrimp so we just ate here and watched the NYE shows in New York and Nashville toasted with Baileys at midnight too.
Barb, how’s your shoulder doing? I sure hope 2024 brings us better. What did u f for the big night last night? I miss the days of going out or to a party that night. How r things going with your sister? Anything new on that front? Tammy and group r in Mexico having fun at an all inclusive . Too much drinking for me to go. Tammy calls me the alcohol police so I’m not too fun to be with them on their trips .
Mary, so sorry about your nephew. That’s really sad . How r u feeling now? I hope you’re better now. I’ve developed a slight cough and it’s deep. I think it’s the beginning of bronchitis but since I see Dr Wednesday so I have that on my list.
I hope everyone has a good new year

Happy NY all!!
I watched a couple NYE shows and went to bed. I used to love going out and dancing to a live band.
Jim was always my partner. I remember wearing a red velvet dress one year. Everyone dressed up back then. The last song from the band was always "You Look Wonderful Tonight". A bunch of us would go out to breakfast after last call. *sigh*

Dianne, I am feeling much better thank you. I hate being sick, mostly because I still have to do all my mom/wife duties lol! It was probably a good thing to move. I needed to release all that congestion.
I am so sorry Louis is still hurting. I think it's time for you two to catch a break!!

Barb, I hope you are taking it easy! I should talk. I am constantly lifting weights I shouldn't. No on was home when I got back from getting grosseries the other day. I brought in 3 cases of water and Matt's Fago, plus all the grosseries. I have to do a lot of morning stretches. My biggest problem is that my bladder drops (what ever you call it lol) and I have pressure for a few days. I think I may have a small hernia on my lower left side. It goes away in a few days of no lifting!

Jl, I have not heard from my Nephew's family, the cause of death. They are taking it pretty bad. He was such a good person/son. If there was a "perfect" Son/Father, he was it.
I know what you mean about the house looking bare. I didn't think I had put out that many Christmas items, but I was wrong lol! I am counting down the days til spring. Valentine's Day, then Easter should cut it up a bit.
We are still waiting for our first snow accumulation. We have gotten a lot of rain, which unfortunately turns into black ice and many accidents. I am all stocked up for a long winter's nap lol!
Grocery pick and Amazon have made shopping a lot easier.

Next week Zoie is getting her first grooming since she was attacked. I didn't want to take the chance that she could damage her neck area. I get my hair did next Thurs. and Zoie on Fri.

This is a crazy month. Myla's Birthday on the 3rd My Dad passed away on the 10th,The 22nd will be our 45th Anniv., My Sis passesd on that day, and it's my Niece (Jaimie.)Birthday.
Side note: My first marriage was on the 1oth.

Lets hope 2024 will be kind.

Happy New Year, everyone.
Dianne, my shoulder is loosening up a little, but the pain is still there. I continue to do the exercises, increasing reps by 5 each week until I go back to the PT on Jan. 17.
We had a quiet NYE at home. We didn’t even hear any fireworks or gun shots in the neighborhood at midnight. Usually some fool shoots a gun.
Dianne, My sister is doing OK. Her dementia is progressing rather rapidly. I had to get Poise pads for her to wear at night because she has accidents. I don’t know if she sleeps soundly and doesn’t realize she hast to go or if she just gets confused.
Other than that, she seems to be fitting in at the home. I got a check in the mail yesterday from Citibank for the amount. They owe her finally. I practically jumped up and down. It’s been three years. I have been fighting this battle. Anyway, I am so happy and relieved. I don’t have to call them anymore.
JL, I am so sorry your daughter lost her job. I know some other people that have been laid off as well right before Christmas. What a bummer. What’s the job market like for her? Does she think she’ll be able to get another job easily. I’m glad she came down to spend time with you at Christmas.
You are probably watching the Golden wedding right now. I’m going to watch it tomorrow on Hulu.
Mary, I i’m so sorry about your nephew. He was so young. I hope you’re feeling better and taking care of yourself.

My daughter left to drive home to Eugene on Saturday, December 30. On Jan. 1st, she had cold symptoms and tested positive for COVID. I tested myself 3 times since and remain negative. I'm confident I'm okay, now. We don't know where she got it. She met up with friends at restaurants a couple of times but they didn't come down with it. She also went to the grocery store one. I'm glad she's had her vaccines and hasn't had to deal with anything worse than cold-like symptoms.

Last Saturday night I was hearing some really loud bangs right next to my house. There would be a pause and that another bang. I was super irritated about it as it was right outside my bedroom where my neighbor and I both have gates going to our respective back yards. It was after 1 a.m. so I was not a happy camper. The next day I texted him that I would like him to refrain from doing whatever he was doing so late at night because it was as loud to me as if he was slamming my bedroom door. I got a text back that he and his fiance were in LA all weekend and not coming back until that night. Oops! I checked the side of the house and all was okay except I did see a number of raccoon footprints going up my gate. My conclusion is that raccoons were going over my gate and landing on some planks the gardeners and put down to make it easier to push the lawnmower over the shallow steps leading the yard. There is a raccoon family in the neighborhood. I hope they don't make a habit of going over my gate.

Tomorrow I'm having new lenses put in my glasses. My current lenses are so scratched up, it's like and extra layer of cataracts. I'm getting the same Rx as that works fine. This spring I'll be getting cataract surgery so will probably need a new Rx after that. We'll see.

Barb, speaking of neighbors, that reminds me, is there anything new going on with your neighbor's house? Great news that the headaches with the bank are finally over. You should have had a drink to celebrate. What a long pain in the ass that whole situation was.

Mary, that situation with your bladder is really scary. That could become a very serious medical emergency. Please don't carry heavy items. Those cases of water could have remained in the car until the menfolk got home. Because I don't want to risk making my bad shoulder worse again, I dismantle the cases of water and take half of them in at a time.

Dianne, how did it go with your primary doctor? I'm so sorry that Louise is in pain with his hip. The 10th is a long way off when you're hurting. Is your car good as new, now?
