What if You

Chosen by MEK

"What If You" by Joshua Radin

I first heard this song briefly during the movie "Catch and Release" along time ago and thought it was very moving - well, the other night, I was watching the movie again, and the scene with this song came on. I wanted to hear the whole song since movie scenes only give you a small bit. I remembered that, my good friend, Zona googles everything, so I googled the soundtrack and found it. I was amazed to realize that this young man, Joshua Radin, was the one that just sang to Ellen and Portia during their wedding. His voice just grabs me, so I thought I would share him with you all today.

I don't know what it is about this song that "gets" me, but I just find it beautiful......... I hope you enjoy.

MEK that song is beautiful. I know why I like it. It is not drown out with electric guitar and drums and you can hear the words and melody. I love music with just an accoustic guitar and listening to the beautiful voice sing the words like poetry.

I had not heard of this artist before and I think I will have to look for his music! Thank you!

It does not matter if our wishes don't come true, it is still a cherish to wish...

I have wished for many things, including children, but that was not to be so I have fulfilled that wish with other wishes, some came true and some did not....

It could be a small wish, like getting to honor your dad on
rememberence day.. and that wish came true...

Wishes can be anything, that is what makes them so special, and that is why when I see a wishing well, I too want to throw a penny in it...As you just never know...

Good Morning All Owls.

That's a great song Mek. I hadn't heard it before.

I am rushing right now. I will be away most of the day. I am going to the toy show with Brian as soon as I get ready. It opens at 9:00. We will be there until lunch. We will have a light lunch somewhere and then I will come home for my nap. After that I am going to Cara's and will stay until this evening. It will be a long day for me so I won't be back on the computer until tomorrow. I will read tomorrow's comments then. I especially want to hear what Whabbear has to say about his day at the protest.

Have a great Sunday everyone. Love, Tinka

Congrats on first LynnD!!

Mek: That is really a beautiful song. It reminds me of my sister for some reason. I am going to have her listen to it today. Where have you been? I hope you are doing okay.

I walked 9,429 steps so far today. It has been a tough weekend for me. I have been a little down and have a lot of worries right now. I am determined to "Walk it Off" as Mr. Bebbi used to tell the kids when they had a little boo boo when they were young.

I am going to read comments. I hope everyone is having a fabulous Sunday. I am going to read postsecrets. Does anyone else read them on Sunday? If so, he posted on myspace last night that they may not be up until the afternoon. I love that he has more of them on myspace and facebook now too.

Good morning, Owls!

LynnD Congrats on first!

MEK I saw this singer on Ellen and I really like his intimate style. This song is very beautiful. It did make me feel sad though; a sweet and tender love, but only for one night.

Just_Lin said...

Bebbi I'm still in my nightgown and robe and you've walked over 9,000 steps! Boy, do I feel like a slug!

Bebbilane said...

LOL Justlin, it's okay. Yesterday it was 1pm and I only had 300 steps tops. I figured I needed to make up for it today. I am trying to get 20,000 today. Once every two weeks, I should get 20,000 steps in one day. I am about to leave to walk to the store to get lottery tickets. Wish me luck! Also, turning in my son's tickets. He won the Powerball yesterday!! Okay, so he ONLY got the powerball but hey, that is winning it too. :)

Wanna walk with me?

Hi, Lynn D, MEK, Carol, Shirley, Donna, Bebbi, Tink, Bon'O, and Tina!

OK, from A51:

Iteach, I had seen that YouTube video before, and thought it was very worthwhile to watch and ponder the implications.

Will the ability to instantaneously communicate with anybody in the world, about virtually anything, eventually lead to the dissolution of international borders, and to a shared consciousness among people that our real "country of allegiance" is Spaceship Earth?

I hope so. In this regard, it is worth noting how special the current era is. Not because it's so recent. No. Because today's period of instantaneous, real-time communication capability with all of our fellow humans is not only very recent, but also quite transient.

Very soon, humanity will start to migrate off of this planet, establishing outposts, and then settlements, throughout the solar system. At these distances, speed-of-light limitations will slam the door on our ability to communicate and share information with each other in real time. The further away we venture, the more our communications with these pioneers and settlers will come to resemble those of yesteryear, when news from one part of the world took hours or days to reach the rest.

In this specific manner, it is inevitable, owls. The future will come to resemble the past.

Just_Lin said...

Bear Good morning. Your comment leaves much to ponder. We are all witnesses to the dawning of a new age. I hope you will share with us your experiences yesterday at the protest.

Bon'O said...

Good midday hooters, both here and AWOL! So many we haven't heard from in a LONG time.

Interesting song, MEK. Thanks for sharing. Hope you're having a FUN-SUNDAY!

Carol~~I missed all but the last minute or so of the Steve Miller segment this a.m.--I'll have to catch it online later.

Bon'O said...

From Area 51:

Iteach~~I didn't make it here yesterday, but your video kept me thinking. What a mixed blessing technology is. It only takes a day without internet or cell phone access to realize the blessings!

However, the vid made me think again about the 2-hour CNBC documentary from a couple years ago, called Big Brother, Big Business. It was on again recently, and it is just mind-boggling the information that's being captured on all of us as we go about our business, whether it's crossing the street, in the super-market, or in our own vehicle (air-bag black boxes) or even at home! Who knew your laser printer is even 'spying' on you? I certainly didn't realize every page printed by a color laser printer is imbedded with code that can be traced back to the printer from which it came. That was just one of many tidbits that surprised me.

Time to get busy...have a great day all!

Lani said...

Good Sunday afternoon. I am feeling better today. I didn't feel very well yesterday. MEK, it is a beautiful song. I loved the string instruments, especially the cello. For many years I played the viola, but really wanted to play the cello. And,that takes me back to some childhood memories of which some happy and some not so happy.

Happy Sunday, Owls!

LynnD...you got first! Woohoo!

Carol...you deserve all your wishes to come true, so throw your pennies in to that well........

Tinka...hope you had a good time at the Toy Show. Hope you found some great finds!!!!

Tina...are you still not in Utah? Hope you are having a fabu time!

Whabbear...how was the protest yesterday? Would love to hear about it!

Lani...hope you feel beter soon. And to all the sick Owls, many wishes for you to be on your way to good health!

MEK - loved your choice of videos for our Sunday video. Beautiful song! I saw Catch and Release last year and liked it. Due to doctor's orders, I had to cancel my work trip for today and possibly tomorrow, so I am having a day of doing nothing and trying to feel better. I went quickly to the video store to get a few movies and thanks to your lovely blog today, decided to watch Catch and Release again. Thanks for the great idea!

VIG, I am sorry you are having such a bad time with your health. I am glad you saw your doctor. Thank you for your well wishes, but I know my feeling yucky isn't anything like what you are going through. I love your volkswagen. It reminds me of the end of the movie "Max Duggins Returns" even though he wasn't driving a VW.

Sandie said...

Congrats on first, LynnD!

MEK, that is a really beautiful song. I can see why you love it so much. Thanks for finding it for us.

Tinka, what fun going to a toy show!!

VIG and Lani, I hope you both feel better real soon!

Area 51: Bebbi, I sure hope you didn't take my comment about catching up with Donna the wrong way. You said you were going to have to try to catch up to Donna so I then said I'm sure it wouldn't take you long at the rate you're going. Then your last post said you were trying but 42 pounds wasn't so bad either. I'm so sorry if you took it as anything other than "great job!"

Bebbilane said...

Sandie: No, I didn't take offense or anything at all! Sorry if it sounded funky. No, I knew what you meant.

Hey, Hooters. It sure is a slow day here in the nest. I have been out and about, running a couple of errands and doing some grocery shopping. Unlike iteach, I am able to grocery shop during the daylight. :)

Tomorrow morning is garbage pick up day so I think I will see if there isn't some exra stuff around here that I can fit into the can.

Just_Lin said...

Exra? Exra? Um, I think I meant "exTra".

Home for a few minutes.
I found one toy treasure I was looking for. I also bought some others, nothing expensive. There were some dolls that were a few hundred dollars. I just looked at them.

There were so many men out there looking for just the right toy for their set. There were about 100 people, mostly men selling the toys at about 25 tables. The place was crowded.

Brian found a few things too that pleased him. They have these toy shows twice a year. It's a big social event for some of them as they all seem to know each other.

I am off to dinner. I think I will march to 50 as the nest seems slow today. Anyone around to help me?

My mood lately seems to heading toward that dark place again. I don't think my upcoming birthday or the fact that it's now dark by 5 o'clock is helping. Sorry I haven't been here more and contributed more. I know some of you are ill and facing your own problems. ((((HUGS)))) for everyone.

Good evening Hooters!
MEK, I left you a myspace message before checking in here. I loved the song! I have never seen the movie. I will have to rent it.

Shirley, this is not my favorite time of year, especially since I'm not a morning person! My daylight hours are way too short. I'll have to start getting up earlier to take advantage of the day. I bought a "mood light" a few years ago, I'll have to find it. It gives off different colors that are supposed to help in the winter months.

Whabbear, I found a demonstration in East Lansing, our College town. It was small with a few people holding posters. Their enthusiasm was great though!
I watched the Endeavor blast off. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more televised information on it.

Tinka, I'm so glad you are feeling better!

{{HUGS}} to the Hooters that have not been feeling well.

Bebbilane said...

Well, goodnight everyone. I have been checking back here every so often. Really quiet day/night on the nest. I hope everyone has a good start to the new week tomorrow. Also, if anyone cares, I made it to 20,069 steps today. Yay, but it was a LOT of work!! Good night all and sweet dreams.

Mary: Congrats on finding a local demonstration!

J/L: The demonstration yesterday was really energizing! I'm glad I convinced Jim to to. We got there at about 10:40 AM, just a little late, and were too far back in the crowd to hear the speakers (except for Carole Migden... she has the voice of... well... she's indescribable!!).

There were about 10,000 people... not gigantic, but given that there were demonstrations throughout the Bay Area, not too bad.

And now... we wait! What is the California Supreme Court going to do?

And on a more personal note... as a federal civil servant, I set in motion a chain of events that may get interesting later on. I submitted a form requesting a change in my health benefits program to "family", so that it would cover my spouse.

Of course, the request was turned down. Courtesy of the "Defense of Marriage Act" that Bill Clinton signed into law in the 90's, the federal government only recognizes opposite sex married partners as "spouses", and only spouses are eligible for the family health benefits.

If I can find a law firm that will take the case, I hope to use this denial as the basis for a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of "DOMA".

Of course, there are rumors that Barak Obama will rescind "DOMA" and give gay federal employees equal rights.

Stay tuned!

Shirley: I can relate to the way you're feeling! I've been sick for 12 days now, and that (probably accompanied by a bit of SAD) is depressing me.

Mary/MI said...

Whabbear "SAD"! I was trying to remember what the term's initials were! It stands for "seasonal" something, something(disorder?) lol!

Mr Mary got his "buck" yesterday so there will be meat on the table this winter.

whabbear said...

Hi, Mary! Glad you guys have staved off starvation for another winter! LOL!

Meanwhile: Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Sad, really. I wish people would join me in my quest to DOUBLE daylight savings time in the winter, rather than eliminating it!

Imagine! Instead of the sun setting before 5 PM, it wouldn't set until close to 7 PM!

Mary/MI said...

Whabbear, I'm with you! Winter is when we sorely need more light!
Thanks for the "SAD" info.

Mary & Bear~~'Eavesdropping' on your S.A.D. discussion..lol. I've had 'Anti-S.A.D.' as my MS mood for a couple days now. May have to keep it all winter!

Our forecast was for sun through late next week, but today it's so foggy I can barely see the neighbors' porchlights across the street now, and almost drove right past my street on the way home from grocery shopping earlier!

Vig, Donna, Shirley, Lani you're all in my prayers.

Getting back into my "normal" swing today. See you later.
