What's in a name?

by Sacbarb

Zona and I were talking about names the other day and I told her I didn't like my maiden name. I never looked forward to the first day of school, because every teacher would screw it up. It was a long (12 letters) Italian name and all they had to do was sound it out, but it seemed to intimidate anyone who read it for the first time. So when the teacher started to take roll on the first day of school, I would answer "HERE" as soon as she said "Barbara," to save me (and the teacher) the embarrassment.

When I was around 10, I asked my parents if we could change our name to the English translation and my Father had a fit. I got the lecture of how I should be proud of our name, blah, ,blah, blah. I was 10 for heaven sake, I just wanted a 'normal' last name. My mother blamed my attitude on our moving to Los Angeles when I was 4, because if I grew up in New York, where I was born and had tons of Italian relatives, I would think our name was normal.

When I started dating, I would only date boys with easy last names. I dated John Mason, Edward Jones, Bill Raleigh (I thought he said Reilly or I may have declined) Joe Duncan, and others whose names escape me, but I know they were easy to pronounce. I didn't want to take the chance of falling in love with some hard to pronounce last name guy and have my kids go through what I went through. I eventually married -you guessed it- a man with an easy (even common) last name.

Of course, now when I look back on it, I feel badly that I didn't appreciate my heritage when I was young. I think my Mother was right, that if I grew up with all my cousins, I wouldn't have given it another thought. But then I also wouldn't have met my Husband and had 33 1/2 years with him and we wouldn't have had our three wonderful sons. So there IS a reason for everything, even my attitude.

What did you think of your name when you were a child? Or did you even give it a thought or just take it for granted?

Good Morning Everyone!! Off to read the blog!

SACBARB: My maiden name was pretty common..but the kids in elementary school found a way to tease me about it anyway. Fortunately, they weren't very creative..so I could laugh it off. When I was in high school and I would tell a teacher my full name, they always said "My God is that Irish!!" to which I would reply, "Well, dad is Irish..but mom is Russian." I guess I wanted to give her equal time. ;)

As an aside...when I told my parents that I had become engaged..the first thing my dad said was, "You know, you don't HAVE to change your last name..." I guess he liked the one he'd given me better. ;)

Great blog SACBARB!!

Good morning!

Congrats on first, Zona. Hugs to you, just because.

Good morning, IBB!

Sacbarb, great blog! I had an easy-to-pronounce last name, although it was long there were many different spellings. I had the longest spelling. I miss my maiden name, though, as my married name is always mispronounced. It's very short but still apparently difficult for some. :)

Shirley, I hope your Mom is doing better. Big hugs and prayers to you.

Bebbi, so glad your Dad is okay.

I was out of the nest yesterday because I took my Mom to the county fair. We were there about an hour and she suddenly said she wasn't feeling so great. I found a bench to sit her down and she passed out! She scared me half to death! I was shaking her and yelling, "MOM!" and she was just out. She looked horrible. I was yelling for help. Anyway, to make a long story short, we went by ambulance to the hospital where they did lots of tests and said she seemed fine. They think she was dehydrated. Fun day at the fair.

Have a great Monday!

Good Morning!

Zona, Congrats on First!

Well, I've alway's thought my first name was pretty boring, but alway's liked my maiden name. My first and last name were only four letter's. Even though my last name had only two vowels in it, it was still mispronounced. It's Hungarian. Then when I married the Ex, my first and last names were still only four letter's and sounded alike. I hated telling my full name over the phone, because everyone thought I was saying my first name twice.
Now I finally have a last name that is eight letter's. But, it is so common, that there are actually two other ladies in my neighborhood that have the exact same name as mine.

Morning Glories!

Zona you are up and at em early! First for you!

Barb interesting blog. My maiden name was pretty pedestrian and I never gave it much thought. I hated my middle name. Still not crazy about it, but is from one of my grandmothers. The problem was there was a town very close to where we lived that was named the same.

Then I got married and I kind of accepted a doozy of a last name! LOL It seems pretty easy to pronounce to me but people get it wrong all the freaking time.

Poor Mr. Lynn D's parents saddled him with a first name and middle name when combined with the last name make people pause or do a double take or they try not to laugh! Some even ask "Did his parents not like him?"

We have both learned the history behind our family names and are proud of the people who came before us. My family can be traced back to the Mayflower and some legendary people are in our blood line.

His family history is that there were 3 brothers that were pirates. They were being chased by the law and had to split up. They dropped Mac from the front of their names and then spelled the second half 3 different ways to avoid detection. We have since learned that more than likely we are related to all of the people with our last name different spellings and all. There are only at last count 3,000 of us.

Weird part a family has moved to our small town with the same last name and spelled the same. May have to track them down and find out about them.

Hope everyone has a great day!

GOod morning, SacBarb, Zona, MEK, Lynn D, IBB, Sandie, birdie, and Tink!

Last name... well, it's a good Irish name, easy to pronounce. In college they liked to call me "Steal my Toilet". Those of you who know my last name may figure out why! LOL!

It's back to the Bay Area for us today. Another 7 hour drive!

Morning Owls!

Interesting blog SacBarb! I always have had problems with my last name...My maiden name was a very popular Irish last name, but it was spelled slightly different and did not have the preceding "O". Of course, every one tried to put one there. I have always had to spell my first name as well, as there are two ways it can go. I never liked how my two names sounded together as my first name ended with a consonant and my last name began with one. THEN I got married and those two consonants were the SAME...My married name is short but has a silent letter in it, so I have to spell it too and, don'cha know everyone tries to SAY that stupid letter. I have gotten some very odd pronunciations. I considered going back to my maiden name when I got divorced, but I figured it would be too confusing.

The kids were here this weekend, so I have a BUNCH of comments to catch up on (you guys were very chatty this weekend :))

Hope everyone is well and happy.

I loved my maiden name because it was the same as a very famous movie star. Then I got married and suddenly everyone I met thought I was Ukrainian. I wish I had a nickel for every time I was asked "What part of the Ukraine are you from"? I was sad when I 'lost' my husband but couldn't get my name changed back to its maiden form fast enough.

Zona, Congrats on #1. I used to get teased a lot too. Kids would rhyme my last name with vegetables. I hope Mr. Z's back is better today.

IBB, Good morning.

Sandie, How scary. I'm glad your Mom is OK.

MEK, my SIL's name is the same as yours and she had the same problem. People just wanted to use half of her first name and she said they were just too lazy to say it all...not to their face though.

Birdee, I guess short names aren't always easy to pronounce. As a kid I never thought of that.

LunnD, Pirates hmmmmmm? That could make for some fun role play.

Tinka, glad you could change your name back.

Bear, LOL and I 'get' it too. Safe travels back home today.

Scirish, Silent letters can be confusing to some. My youngest always had trouble with them on spelling tests and he would say, "If they are silent, why do we need them?"

Thanks for commenting on my blog, everyone. I have a card class this morning and errands to do this afternoon, so I will be back later. Have a great day.

Good morning to ZONA, IBB, SANDIE, MEK, BIRDEE, LYNN, TINK, BEAR, SCIRISH & to all who fly in afterward

SHIRLEY I hope your mom is more comfortable today and you were able to get some rest. BIBEE I hope your dad is alright. SANDIE how horrifying that must have been. I am glad everything turned out all right.

SACBARB: I also had name problems. I used to dread the 1st day of class. My given name is Elena, however it is pronounced the Russian way and not the usual way. This is why my mother gave me the nickname Lani. Our names are a part of us and so it has always been important to me to remember some one's name and pronounce it correctly. Forget pronouncing my last name. I actually like my middle name the best.

Okay BEAR, Now all day I am going to be trying to figure out your last name. What could mean "Steal the Toilet"? Could it be TAKACRAPPER? :)

ZONA I think we have the same crumby sleeping habits.

Sacbarb:
I don't love my first name, but neither do I hate it. I do however love my last name, and would never want to change it. Even if the day comes that perhaps I marry, I would not change my name...

I have a curiosity on first names and why was someone named as they were. For example, I am named after my Aunt Caroline, however my mother just had them put Carol on my Birth Certificate, she told me she thought she told them Caroline.... My brother is named after my Grandfather, but his middle name and what we use, is Glenn, my mom loved the Glenn MIller band. My nephews are named after no one, My brother and SIL just like those names...

Great Blog Barb! and BTW, I fixed your error, sorry I did not catch it...

Thanks for writing it and sending it off to me...

Happy Monday Morning Everyone!

Great Blog, SacBarb!

I had a very common maiden name. In fact, it was one of those that is both a first or last name. Very BORING!

I always wished I could have a more exotic last name. My BFF, who is Italian, her last name was Randazzo, loved that one. And then another friend in HS was Greek and her name was Wakalopolous, loved that one too!

I think, since I was kind of shy in school, I wanted a name that would stand out, kind of get me noticed. Didn't happen.

I guess no one is ever really happy with their names.

I did marry a man with a French name, and when I went back last week to read some of the first Blogs, at one time I had to register as "djbourdet".

Some of you had fun with that, calling me 'DEEJAY BOURDAY" I loved it! In fact, I sometimes pronounce it that way myself, just because it sounds very French!

Like Carol, I am fascinated by first names too. There is an email going around that asks you to fill out different things about yourself. One of the questions is "Are you named for anyone"? When I sent that to some, and got replys, it was very interesting to see who was named for what or whom. I was named for my Dad and Grandmother.

So, who are you all named for? A relative, a place, a favorite character in a book?

I named my middle daughter after a soap opera character that I liked in 1977! Plus, I just liked the name!

Waving a wing to all who have landed early this morning (at least early for me, LOL) and to those flying in after me:

SacBarb,My maiden name was Mexican so of course I had a lot of people mispronounce it. I went from that to a simple "Curtis" from my ex to my present "Finnish" last name which is always mispronounced!

My SILs daughter married "John Smith". How simple can you get! They always got "the look" when ever they checked into a motel LOL!!

I will be back later. I have some banking to do. Have a great November day!

Great topic/blog Sacbarb! I hated my maiden name because it was at the END OF THE ALPHABET and I was LAST FOR EVERYHING!! blah.

Thanks Sandie, I am too. I called him today though and he said he still felt sick and couldn't eat anything. I hope it is just a stomach bug.
YOU are so lucky your mom didn't fall!! My daughter got dehydrated and fainted from a standing position a couple of weeks ago. She had a brain injury!!! I am so glad she is okay..how scary!!

Ah, what is in a name? You know for years, my mom, the lady whose body I fell out of, and the same woman who named me, called me by every name except my own.

She even had variations of all the names squished together. Seriously, some days she'd yell in my general directions, CarRePaLucMarMiJoDAMNITLois! I went around introducing myself that way until I shortened it to DAMNIT-Lois. LOL!

Our last name (Leahy) was yodeled through the corridors of our school, yo-da-lay-hee-hoo! I never gave it much thought. Just sounded funny hearing people yodel.

It wasn't our real last name anyhow. When Great-Grandpa fell off the German boat and landed in the states, they told him German names makes for tough lives, so they picked Leahy for him.

I'm going out to dig in the dirt. I have a bunch of bulbs that refuse to plant themselves!

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Continued good thoughts for recovering Owls and relatives. What a traumatic weekend for so many. ((HUGS))

SacBarb~~I always hated my first name; wanted something more lilting and feminine. When I married, it was fashionable to keep your maiden name or hyphenate. I was more than ready to switch to another last name.

I did, however, sort of enjoy the cadence of spelling out my maiden name....It was like doing the Mississippi thing..."M-I-Double S- I- Double S". Only the first two consonants were different!

Ask a neighbor if they need a ride. Make it a party! So much depends on it. And, although their choices may not agree with mine, it angers me so much that frail, elderly, health-compromised and must-go-to-work citizens may be disenfranchised because they're not able to stand in line for hours on end in extreme heat/cold, pouring rain, etc. or are faced with too few or malfunctioning voting machines.

It's not like this country hasn't had 8 years (and $750 Billion!) to upgrade and standardize a fail-safe, 'proof of valid vote receipt' election process. We'll do this again in 2012. Maybe if we start ranting NOW........?

SacBarb~ fabu blog~ I loved my maiden name, but I'd always end with, AND I'm Mexican. So of course they thought my name was spelled differently. I'd explain that my dad is a white boy and tell them my mom's full name (with accent and rolled R!) I just wanted to impress~ :)~ My last name now is pronounced wrong almost every time. Just because there is a silent letter at the end. Some of the words people come up with are hilarious~ If someone called the house and mispronounced my last name, I'd tell them that they had the wrong number. One time, a man called and said my name wrong. For some reason, I took the call. Thank God!!! It was the VP of Delta calling to tell me that I had won a $1000.00 shopping spree and a trip to Mecca (Atlanta!). I still laugh when I think I almost hung up on him~

Good afternoon ,

Barb: I enjoyed your blog. It's funny that you dated only guys with easy last names. I know where your coming from.

Zona: Congratulations on being #1, although you are always a #1.

MEK: It's good to see you and hope you are doing somewhat better.

Sandie: I'm glad your mom was only dehydrated yesterday. How scary for both of you. Hope you are feeling better each day, as well.

Shirley: I'm sending positive thoughts your way for your mum and you. I hope you both had a restful night.

Birdieee: What can I say? I love your name and think your four letter name goes so well with a lot of four letter words. lol They just kind of roll off the tongue so fast. Luv ya.

Lynn: How fascinating to have pirates in your names in your history. As you said it really must have been a "doozy" of a last name.

Scirish: I relate to the silent letter in your name. I'm named after my grandmother and when I was born, my mother thought it would 'write-out' so much prettier if it had a silent 'h' in it. Total confusion, sometimes when people try to pronounce it, so I answer to anything close. But, you would have had to know my sweet and proper mother to understand.

Lois: At least songs were written about you with all the yodeling in the halls at school. You were probably on the TOP 10 music charts.

Mary: Too funny about Mr. and Mrs. John Smith checking into a motel . At least they had luggage...well, maybe.

Bebbi: I can so agree with you about last names beginning with the letter 'Z' growing up. Mine did, and I always had to sit in the back of the room, last chair, last row at school. On the upside, it was usually by the window and when it came time for book reports, I was usually the last to be called. I always wanted to sit on the front row, and a few times I'd get a teacher who would reverse the seating. Maybe it was because her name was Miss Zimmerman.

Carol: 'A rose by any other name is still a rose.'

Tina: Glad you took the call.

Boy, these things get long when you show up in the afternoon.

Hi Carol, Thanks so much for fixing my boo boo. I love your name. One of my best friends in elementary school was named Carol. BTW, I was named after my maternal Grandmother.

DonnaJean, good to see you. Give Laurie a (((HUG))) for me.

Bebbi, I was an "M" and always in the middle. I married an "A" -wait that doesn't sound right- His name started with "A" - that's better. My kids weren't so crazy about being first all the time and always under the teacher's nose...boys you know!

LL, no sun here today. It's raining, it's pouring....

Tina, There's that silent letter again. Hmmmm thinking about yours and Zona's together just made me chuckle. Kinda like when Leno reads the wedding announcements.

Ronnie, I was very serious about dating guys with simple last names. Who knows what may have happened if I had broadened my horizons. LOL @ Miss Zimmerman.

Bon, I wasn't crazy about my first name either because in L.A. Barbara Ann was also the brand name of bread and I would also get called that.

Bon2, A few elections ago I was going to be out of the country on election day so I applied for an absentee ballot. It was so easy, no lines, the weather didn't matter, no parking issues. I decided to make it a permanent thing and I recommended it to my friends. I mailed my ballot about two weeks ago.

It is a Citizenship Quiz. You can take the simple test or the complete test.

I did both, and I am sorry to say I only scored 85%.

Here is the link. It really is fun, and definitely tests your knowledge of all Branches of Government.

http://www.history.com/minisites/citizen_quiz

Also you can just go History.com and from there navigate to Citizenship quiz.

I hope some of you try this. I am going back, and hopefully will get a better score!

Like your Driver's test, the questions are random, so you can't really cheat.

Have a Great Evening everyone!!! SNL at 9 pm sounds like fun.

My last name(maiden) sounds like a first name...
there are some people in this town that still call me it as they think it is first name...

IBB: Thanks! For the comment about my dad. My sister called tonight and said my dad wanted someone to come to stay with him Wednesday night because my brother (who lives there) has to work. It is a bummer, because I have to work and so does she. I feel so torn up about it. Also, I have NO car right now and am driving Mr. Bebbi's van. *sigh* Life!

So, I was up very early today and decided to go back to bed for a WHILE and woke up at three in the afternoon. I find this rather frightening.

HODI I hope you feel better very soon.

J/SLIN where are you?

I enjoyed reading ever one's comments. I wish good health to all of you and your families.

Great Blog SacBarb!

I love my maiden last name and my new last name.

My maiden name was Last, how easy is that!?! Easy to spell and easy to remember. I miss it a lot.

However, I do love my new last name, because it is Italian. My mom is 100% Italian, so now I have a last name that matches my dark looks.

RonnieGirl said...

MEK: Why does THAT not surprise me? I bet her Daddy is a happy camper about this.

HOdi: Hope you feel better soon.

Shirley: So happy to hear your Mum came home today.

lani: I knew I was starting to get older when the expression 'Happy Hour', meant nap time. Hope you got rested.

Waving 'Hi' to all who flew in after my last post.

Hi iteach,
It's so good to see you.

I was never wild about my first name- Jennifer.

The year I was born was the year it became popular. There are Jennifers everywhere!

My sister-in-law has the same exact name as me.

iteach said...

I asked my mom if she named me after anyone and she said yes.

The alphabet

What?

Yes, the alphabet, your initials are JKL.

She was trying to be funny.

iteach said...

Hi Ronnie!

Bebbilane said...

Sacbarb: That is funny that the boys wouldn't like to be an "A", too close to the teacher..lol. I would have loved it.

Ronniegirl: I always loved the teachers or people who would start at the end of the alphabet too. It usually was another sympathetic "end of the alphabet" named person.

Now, the last name I have is a man's first name. SO, when I send out emails and the last name shows up before the first name, I will get emails calling me my last name AS my first name...LOL. At work, some of the managers I work for teasingly call my "male" name some times because they have seen the emails I get. I really don't mind that though, some of the people I correspond with respect a "man" more than a "woman" so it works out well. They are surprised when they find out I am a woman. ...okay, have I totally confused everybody yet>?

My daughter and I were at CVS the other day and my daughter said our last name first when she was picking up the prescription. The lady said, "Is that your first name or last name"..I just about snorted laughing because my daughter does NOT LOOK at all like a MAN...roflmao..it was hilarious. Of course, we didn't laugh right then, we waited till later.

Donna Jean, that is sad about Obama's grandmother.

Sandie: I am glad your Mom is okay too. I am so glad she had the wisdom to sit down before she fainted.

Lani: Takeacrapper?? That was funny.

Whabby: Is it Stellatoit? Stuletolit? Grabajohn? Takealeek? ..Lani, you got me started. lol.

One more little story then off to see what's on television tonight

Many years ago when I was 4/5 I decided I wanted to change my first name to Maryann. I loved that name so much.

As my mother told the story many times, she had taken me to dancing class one afternoon and decided to stay and watch her 'little darlin' dance. Miss Patsy, my dance teacher, called the roll and when she said Maryann, I raided my hand and answered, "Present". Throughout the entire lesson I was addressed as Maryann. Mother said Miss Patsy had known our family for some time and knew that wasn't my name, but continued to not use my real name.

After class, Mother spoke to Miss Patsy and was told that for the last month or so, I wouldn't answer to anything else. Mother told her she would have a talk with me when we got home. I DO remember the talk, and that was when I found out I was named after my grandmother. Apparently, at that young age I didn't care, because I told Miss Patsy that Mother had talked to me and it was okay for her to call me Maryann. I got punished for not minding my mother.

I never knew any little girls named this until I was in elementary school, BUT every doll I ever had was named Maryann and they have since been passed down to my daughter.

And I wonder why people used to say I was a prissy little girl. Ha!

I didn't raid my hand...I raised it.

iteach, so funnny!!! My sister in-law's maiden name, first middle and last is what my name is now that I am married to her brother.

I have a brother with the same name as my husband.

AND if that weren't enough bro/sis combos without having literally married into my own family all Jerry Lee Lewis style, my sister in-law's husband's name is the same as my husband's.

For anyone lost...
Me & SIL = Lois Lisa Lane & Lois Lisa Lane

Me & my husband = Lois & Clark (not to be confused with Lewis & Clark)

My SIL & BIL = Lois & Clark

At Christmas, passing gifts, every single year we hear, "To Lois & Clark From, Lois & Clark, well shit, which ones?"

I switched it up by signing our names Clark & Lois but that doesn't make it any less confusing.

iteach, what kind of work is your hubby looking for? I might be able to help. Remember we live near each other, like by 20 minutes.

Thanks for that Lois. He is 3 hours away, I really have to talk to my brother about getting him to move closer so my sister and I can help more. I just talked to him on the phone and he seemed okay, just scared to stay alone. We think he has Vertigo, he had that before. He's very nauseous.

Sacbarb....awesome blog! I was thinking about names recently when I met a person who had been born on Groundhog's Day and his parents named him Shadow! And I knew a guy in elementary school who was born on Halloween who's nickname his whole life was Spook! Cool!

My last name is also the name of other things. When I was young, I was teased for a piece of food that was named the same. And in Canada, there was a favourite treat with that name. Now a piece of technology has the name and when I go into classes, kids pick up on that and not so much the food bit. Oh the times they are a changin!!!!

Zona Good job being #1 today!

SacBarb Wonderful blog today! My maiden name was French and no one ever pronounced it right the first time. I actually like the last name from my first marriage better than my current one, even tho the first husband was so horrible. It was common and easy and ended with 'son'. The only question about the spelling was if it was with an 'e' or an 'o'. I'm not wild about my first name because it was so common and there were always several in every class. My maternal grandmother wanted me to be named LaVerne but my mom refused because she thought it sounded like a stripper. I guess in those days strippers didn't yet have names like Candy or Bambi. LOL

Good evening feathered friends!

SHIRLEY, SANDIE and BEBBI...hoping your mom's and dad are doing better tonight. {{hugs}}

SACBARB...awesome blog. I have never been thrilled with my name...I guess it's a little late to think of changing it now! I am named after my paternal grandmother and Maureen O'Sullivan! I have no middle name and my last name is just a name. It is very non-denominational. It doesn't reflect our heritage at all because my grandparents shortened a second time.

I always wish I had a sexy exotic name...or at least a cutesy one!

Growing up, my nickname was Reenie. Most people called me Reenie. When I met a friend of mine, he thought my full name was Reenie Maureen! He never knew my last name as he always just called my mom "mom"!

Since my father passed away when I was young, and my brother never had children I always said if I ever got married I would def hyphinate my last name. Oh well, the best laid plans!

Crap, that was another rambler!

Hey everyone! Just popping in for a minute before I head to bed. I didn't sleep very good last, not just from worrying about mum but because of the stupid noise my CPAP machine is making. It is being sent away to be fixed tomorrow and I will get a replacement. I can't wait!

Congrats on 1st Zona!

Good blog Sacbarb! I'm happy with my last name unless someone spells it wrong. That pisses me off. It is a Dutch name and my Dad always said we had a street named after us in Holland. I don't know if it's true but I always liked the idea of it.

((HUGS)) to everyone who needs them...Sandie, Jodi, Iteach, Bebbi, Mek and anyone else.

Mum is home tonight after a day without pain. She has a CAT scan scheduled for Wednesday. Thanks everyone for the prayers and kind words. It is appreciated.

Good night!

RONNIEGIRL aka MARYANN Remember the days when we fought naps when we were little and now they are a perk.

NONEWZ The tragedy of waking up so late is the 1st thought of the day is OH SHIT!

BON: Wouldn't it be simple to give everyone an absentee ballot and give us the choice of mailing it in or taking it to the poll on election day and dropping it into a box. At least we wouldn't have people trying to make decisions in the voting booth. Not to mention malfunctioning machines.

DONNA JEAN I will take the citizenship test later. I hope I won't be embarrassed.

No matter how late I wake up or how cluttered my brain, I always keep your health and that of your families in my heart.

RonnieGirl said...

lani:

I agree about a nap being a perk. Occasionally, when I'm staying at my daughters, she'll ask me if I would like to take a nap.

I don't have to be asked twice if I want to go to bed. Sometimes I feel like taking a running start from the bedroom door to the bed.

If she only knew. Ha!

Hey hooters!

I'm crawling by after an extremely long, busy, crazy day at work.

Barb, great blog! I had a difficult maiden name, my dad is Polish and Italian, and Polish last name is full of wierd letter combinations.

I liked the name, it was always interesting to hear people try to pronounce it.

My first huz had a great last name, very easy and only 6 letters.

Current huz has a nice last name too, a little longer but easy to spell.

MEK I'm shocked and AMAZED about the bacheloreet. And very disappointed. Who would have guessed she would dump him?

Maybe the next bachelor, Jason with the kid, will have better luck with his search for a soulmate.

Whab I think I know what your last name is, but not sure what it has to do with stealing a toilet. hmmm.

Maybe I'm just too tired for it to click, I dunno.

Hugs to all who need one, I will check in tomorrow!

Great blog, BARB. I have had a few last names. My first name is Helen and I never liked it so have always gone by my middle name of Dianne. I was named after my dad's mother that died right before he and my mom got married. My dad and some of his family always called me Helen. I didn't like it at school. When I was young and we would all be in the gym being called by a teacher for our first day of school, I was always left standing alone because when they called Helen....I didn't realize it was me. I still am not crazy about the name for myself. I used to be Sherry when I was young and played house.

SHIRLEY: Glad your mom is home from the hospital. Get some rest!!

Sending out hugs to everyone.
