Dianne Good morning and thank you for the blog. Some troubles do resolve themselves if given a little time. Speaking of troubles, I take it your bridge is cooperating and not giving you any trouble. Knock on wood.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi-Ho Where have you been? We miss you.

Dianne/Denver said...

JL, ,my bridge is still hanging in there so to speak but I've developed a toothache on the other side where the fairly new bridge is now !!! What a pain and I can't eat over there so I'm back to eating on my broken bridge side very carefully. I'm so sick of the pain and cost of all this tooth junk. I just pray the pain won't get any worse for the next week and a half. I'm popping Tylenol now.

We are in Nashville now. Went to breakfast with Louis's daughters before we left this morning and then had a three hour drive here. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe. It was cute and food was good. Tomorrow up early for an 8:30 hotel pickup to go on a three hour bus tour of stars houses, etc. to,or tow night we are going on a dinner cruise.

Barb, are you having a nice time in San Diego? Are you doing anything while you dog sit?

Jodi...hellooooooo. All ok out there?

Mary, I'll keep checking in. Enjoy your rest time.

That was a sweet blog Dianne. I cannot believe the trouble you keep having in your mouth! Have you ever thought of just spitting all your teeth out and getting brand spankin' new ones lol!! Chew vewy vewy carefully!!

I did a little shopping at an antique store. It's actually called an Antique Mall. I was looking for some plant stands for the patio. I found a cute two tiered one and a small plant holder in the shape of a bird cage. Both metal. I put a pink vine type flower in the wired birdcage. I'm not sure where I will hang it. I love hanging the big flowered plants on lower branches of our trees.
I'm watching a very old movie. I think it's called "Ann Marie". I love the song they sing. I forget the name of it, but it starts with "When I'm calling you". It's about a Canadian Mountie and his lover an opera singer.
When I was quite young, maybe 8 or 9, I used to visit a sweet old lady who lived catty corner from us, Mrs Lewis. I would sit on her piano bench with my feet dangling and listen to her play and sing Ann Maries song. Now I remember the name!! "Indian Love call!" Yay It was driving me crazy lol!! Anyhhoo! I must have drove her nuts. I asked her to sing it to me every time I went over there! Now whenever I see the movie and hear that song, I think of her. Sweet memory! Do you have any sweet memories from your childhood like that?

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Oh, I'm sorry that you're having pain on the "good side" of your mouth. I hope your bridge holds up for you.

I was at a Rainforest Cafe once. It was very cute. I think it was inside a large casino. It must have been the MGM Grand when I was there in '05 to see the Stones. The more I think about it the more sure I am that it is where we ate right before the Stones concert in the MGM Arena. Great night!

It sounds like you are having a very nice trip so far. That was great that you were able to meet up with Beverly.

Mary I keep thinking I should get some plants and plant stands for my front deck but I keep not doing it. I don't know why. I like having plants and flowers but I'm not into gardening. Hanging flowering plants from the tree branches is a really cute idea.

I remember that song. I bet your neighbor lady was tickled and flattered that you enjoyed her singing it you as much as you did. That's a sweet memory for you. When I was very young and living in Tampa, Florida (we moved to California when I was 4) we lived next door to my mother's parents. Our two houses were "shotgun" style houses that my grandfather had built himself. Anyway, I would go next door to see Grandpa and I remember sitting on his knee and him asking me if I had eaten supper yet. I would say yes and we both knew I was lying but he would open this drawer in a little table next to his chair and he would get out a candy and give it to me. That's a nice memory for me.

Mary/MI said...

JL, that is so sweet! I love hearing memories like that! Some people can remember their childhood clear as day, me, not so much! I have many blank spots especially from my preteen yrs. I used to have recurring nightmares when I was young and always wondered if I blocked something. Crazy eh?

I have gotten either a nasty summer cold or a really bad sinus/allergy attack! My nose is running, my eyes are itchy and watery! It didn't help when I went to Menards for some flower pots and went by all the nasty containers of chemicals for plants, bugs, grass etc!!
I hope it is short lived!!

I am still reeling from Jimmy Borges passing (Hawaii). I knew he was terminal, but it was still a shocker. I am glad I got to meet him while in Hawaii.
Cancer sucks!!

Hello....went on a dinner cruise and country show tonight. Very fun and dinner wasn't a buffet and I'm glad. Good country music. We shopped some at the outlet mall today at the Coach store. I just love that place!! I've been stashing some dollars just waiting for this store. Did some other shoppers nag at WILLIE Nelsons gift shop. We also went on a three hour tour of the stars homes. It was fun and heard a lot of history. Tooth still hurting.

Mary, I too think your neighbor probably loved singing to you. Maybe that's when your singing talents started. Im Not much of a plant person as I forget to water them.

JL, how's your friends husband foing? I hope ok still. Boy, the rain in Texas is terrible. It's been sprinkling some here tonight.

Tomorrow night is Grand Ole Opry. We are going to attempt going downtown tomorrow to some honky tonks....if we can get parking.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I can't remember my childhood all that well, either, just snippets of it. When we were still in Florida living next to my grandparents, I remember going to the kitchen sink and boosting myself up so I could look through the window over the sink and see my grandparents house. Why that is worthy of remembering and other things aren't, is a mystery. I also remember a little girl that lived somewhere nearby. I was so young then that I don't think I saw her often but I do remember a coloring book she had. On each page was a little duck and I remember turning each page and looking for the duck and I got great satisfaction out of finding it. I was fascinated by it. I guess to my little brain is was like a game to find the duck. I coveted that coloring book. LOL

I keep feeling like I might be coming down with a cold but I think it is more likely that I am having reactions to allergies. When I lived in So. Calif. I would get hay fever really badly.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne John is doing great. I had dinner with them last Tuesday. He's had that procedure before as well as others and this has been his fast recuperation ever.

Did you buy anything to smoke at the Willie Nelson store? LOL

It sounds like you're having a lovely time. I hope the weather remains tame for you. Did you make it to the honky tonks?

Just_Lin said...

Barb Has the weather warmed up for you down there? They do say "June gloom" for a reason.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi Where are you? Check in please.

Hi..WENT TO OPRY TONIGHT. I liked it better last year as I knew a couple of the artists. I didn't know but one old guy and there was a little too much gospel for me. It was still fun to be there. We went downtown today and hopped on a go.f cart 1-1/2 hr tour of the area. It was fun and a nice breeze. Parking was $28!! We were just glad to find a place as it was crowded. We went to a town called Franklin for yummy seafood. Busy day.

JL, it rained this morning and tonight but it didn't bother us. We were inside during those times. We have to get up early tomorrow as we have a 7 hr drive to Branson. I would have liked to gone to a honky tonk tonight after the Opry but I knew Louis had enough for the day. He had to park and walk very far at the Opry. Are you getting a cold?

Well, I'd better hit the bed. Night

Just_Lin said...

Dianne No cold, just allergies. I am feeling very tired today. Last night the teenager next door had a party and it didn't break up until after 2 a.m. I had been trying to sleep since midnight so I was really, really agitated by the time things quieted down. Our houses are pretty close together and my bedroom is closest to where their garage and driveway area. That seemed to be where the party was happening and it sounded like it was right outside my bedroom window. I'm surprised none of the neighbors called the police as everyone's house was dark and everyone was trying to sleep. Of course, then when people slowly started leaving the party, there was lots of yelling and honking of horns, etc. I saw a red Solo cup laying in the street this morning.

I see you are lunching in Paducah. I spent a couple of days there once. My husband and I were on a cruise of the Mississippi River from Memphis down to New Orleans. Our steamboat got stuck there because the waters were so high that we couldn't get under a bridge. After being there for two days, the waters receded just enough that we were able to barely get under the bridge by lowering our smokestack. We had little pilot boats on either side of us keeping us going absolutely straight as we went under the bridge at a snail's pace. That was to make sure we didn't hit the underside of the bridge or get jammed under it. Once we matter all the way under, the calliope started playing joyously and a celebratory party was held. It was a fun experience but because of lost time we had to forego one of our stops. Because of that, the steamboat company gave us 50% off of a second cruise. We took advantage of that and did it again the following year but this time we got two cabins next to each other and took my mother with us. Our route the second time around started in New Orleans and ended in Memphis. It was a very memorable trip. We caught Mardi Gras at the beginning and at the end, met up with my mother's brother who came in from Louiseville. It would be the last time they would see each other and it really meant a lot to my mom. I'm so glad we took that cruise.

Hello from what is finally sunny San Diego. The temps have finally gotten up into the 70s and it it very pleasant. The kids got home about midnight last night and went right to bed, since they had been up since 3 am. Today they are trying to recover from jet lag and sea legs. They had a great time and even booked another one for 2018. Todd said I should get some friends together and go on a cruise. I never thought I would go on a cruise, but I am now thinking about it.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, your trip sounds like fun, seeing family and friends and attractions. I would like to see the Opry and Branson, too. Maybe someday I'll get there. When will you be home? I hope your tooth holds out until you can get to your dentist.

sacBarb said...

Mary, I remember seeing that movie when I was pretty young. My Mom liked Nelson Eddy and Marie McDonald and we watched it on TV. I don't remember much about it besides him in the Canadian Mountie uniform and the song. 😀

sacBarb said...

J/L, I hope you neighbor doesn't give too many parties like that. How old is the teenager? Maybe it was a graduation party.

sacBarb said...

Hey Jodi! What's up?

Mary/MI said...

SacBarb, You really should try a cruise! I have been on two and am itching to go again! My first trip I was too afraid to get off at the first port! I have regretted it ever since! I get intimidated with new things some times, believe it or not lol!!
I guess I was afraid the ship would leave without me!

Dianne, I am glad you are having fun! How are you doing with all the walking? Have you tried any new foods? I remember eating grits and hating them lol!

We got a lot of rain last night, but we really needed it! The farmers have all their crops in and rain was a welcome sight! We are surrounded by wheat, soybeans & corn fields.

Have a great week all!!

Just_Lin said...

Barb I'm glad you finally got some sun there. It's been a mixed bag here. Mostly nice with sunshine but the fog creeps in along the coast in the late afternoon. Btw, how was it sleeping on the futon? They have really thin mattresses.

Yes, you should try cruising. Maybe just a short trip up to Canada and back to start with, you know, to get your feet wet, so to speak. LOL I'd go with you. :)

The teenager had a graduation party a couple of weeks ago. At least that's what his mother called it at the time. They rent that house and are supposed to be moving soon. At this rate, I will not be sad to see them go.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I get intimidated by new things all the time. Yes, it is important to get back to ship on time so you do need to keep that in mind when going ashore. I've never found that to be a problem.

I wish we had more rain on the horizon. My yard could really use it.

HERE i AM!!! I promised DIANNE I would check in yesterday, but after a couple Spotted Cows in the sun at Headquarters, I came home and took a nap #mybad

Jodi said...

Well, I've had 3 of the new treatments, and boy I'm feeling so much better! I was even able to do a full on squat at work. Ha!!! I go back tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it!

BARB - The only cruise I think I would be interested in is Alaska! I know my hubby wouldn't be interested it any of the warm weather ones, but I think he might be ok with Alaska. When do you leave to come home?

Jodi said...

MARY - I hope you enjoyed your "you time"! I finally took time to plant some pots to put out in the front of the house yesterday. I love the pops of color! I really don't care to "garden", but can handle watering and dead heading these!

I remember going to my Great Grandparent's house before they had to move to the nursing home. Grandma always made chicken and dumplings, and Grandpa always had a dish of butterscotch candies. If I close my eyes, I can smell both!

I'm also a bit saddened by the death of Jimmy Borges. I love that we got to meet him at Michi's benefit. What a gentle soul, and he had a beautiful voice! I did see online that he got a slew of awards at the Nā Hōkū Hanohano the weekend before he died. What an honor ♥

Jodi said...

SLIN - Are you feeling better today? Friday night I felt I had a little "something" coming on. I drank some Emergen-C and took a Sudafed, and by Saturday morning I felt fine.

I loved your story about the 2nd River Boat cruise. So beautiful that your Mom could see her brother before she passed.

Jodi said...

DIANNE - Looks like you've had quite a trip. I loved the Facebook Live you did with our BEBBI!! I've been to Branson, but it's probably been 40 years. Back then it was mostly Hillbilly shows, and as a child I was NOT into that. lol!!

Work was interesting this morning. I seriously don't know what is wrong with my boss. Our Assistant Store Leader did books with a co-worker that transferred to our store. He was showing Matt how we do them (he has been trained in books) and on Sunday he worked with Milissa doing the same thing. Last night one of our Guest Service Leaders called me at home because there was more in the inside safe than was on the list on the door. She woke me up, so I told her I would just figure it out today. OY!!! When I told Milissa what happened, I asked her if she had verified what was in the inside safe yesterday, and she just got a blank stare on her face. I told her I ALWAYS verify what it says. That is part of our job as a bookkeeper!! She THEN proceeds to say she is having a conversation with Adam. (Like it's all his fault) In my opinion, they both need a "come to Jesus" meeting with me!!! lol!

Jodi said...

And I feel bad for Peggy, (the co-worker that called me last night). Milissa told me last week that she is training Peggy in books. Sweet Jesus....I don't have a problem with Peggy doing books, but I'm only going to have to re-train her after Milissa is done with her, and it will just confuse the hell out of her. Peggy is one of those people that wants to do it right, but Milissa can't even do it right. And she's a squirrel!!! Never finishes anything before going to the next!

Oh, well.....just biding my time. Alex still wants me to transfer when he gets the new big store about 10 minutes down the road! Unfortunately, that won't be until closer to fall 2017.

RANT OVER....please go back to your regularly scheduled blogging :)

Jodi said...

Good news!!! Sam had a great appointment with her surgeon on Friday. She started back part time today, and will be back full time in 2 weeks! Dr. Rilling is very pleased with her progress with her knee, and he says she is so lucky she broke her foot where she did.

Jodi said...

More good news!!! Tomorrow Tim will finally be done with what he needs to do to get his high school diploma! He has really worked had this year to finish. Next Sunday is his last day at Headquarters and on Monday he starts with a concrete company for at least the summer. He still wants to apprenticeship in the HVAC trades, but not now.

Jodi said...

I best get going.....bitch work is calling. Lol!!!

sacBarb said...

Jodi, I am happy for you that the therapy is working. Being in pain drains your energy so quickly. Good news about Sam and Tim, too. It's so nice when the kids are all on track and that never goes away. When I was a young parent I thought all I had to do was get them to adulthood and I'd be done! I was so wrong!

sacBarb said...

J/L, Maybe we should think about going to Canada. I wonder if Lynn would be interested?

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi..glad to see everyone checking in. Barb, I never thought I'd hear you say you would try a cruise. I think you would love it. You and JL would have a great time. When do you come home? Loved the picture of you on FB. Amen about raising your kids!!

Jodi, the Alaska cruise is really great. I'm not one for warm cruises either. We've done Alaska three times now. I'd like to do one to the Anartica some day. Glad you and Sam are both feeling better and that she's part time back to work. You need to be the boss at your job!! You do all the work anyway snd that way people would get trained the right way. Vacation ngrstulstions to Tim.

Mary, we have my travel chair with us or I wouldn't be able to come here on vacation. I simply can't walk much distance anymore. We have handicap seating for all the shows too. Those are usually pretty good seats. Mary, is Jim gone now or back?

JL, I think a riverboat cruise would be fun. I think they cost as much as a regular cruise or more. I hope no more big parties. I'm surprised you were already in bed at midnight. Glad your friend is doing so well.

Dianne/Denver said...

We went to Dixie Stampede tonight..a western show and dinner owned by Dolly Parton. A sight seeing boat ride and a morning country show. Been a long day. Have another one tomorrow. It took us nine hours from Nashville to Branson yesterday. It was a really long day. It's kind of hard to find your way around here even with the navigator. We will be here until Thursday and then to the Ozarks for a day. Our weather is nice just a little hot ..not humid though. We have a couple of shows tomorrow. Our hotel was r,pty last night but today three buses showed up and now there's 90 people here. At 9pm they have ice cream, cobbler and cookies.

Jodi said...

BARB - I'm still on the Gabopentin (for nerve pain), but my goal is to get off of it! Update on Sam. Her first day went well. As soon as she is full time they will be offering her Deli Manager. More money, and it will get her closer to her goal of getting into the Core 4 program! That is their management program. Woot woot!!!

Jodi said...

DIANNE - The sight seeing boat ride sounds great! It is such a beautiful area. Sounds like my kind of hotel. Ice cream, cobbler and cookies before bed? Sign me up!!

Just_Lin said...

HOdi I'm so glad you are doing so well in your recuperation and the same for Sam. It sounds like things are falling into place for your kids. Isn't that a nice feeling?

I can't believe your co-workers still don't get how to do the books. And not checking that the amount in the safe matches what is supposed to be there? Hello! No wonder they had money missing. It would be so easy to steal from them with their shoddy bookkeeping. This should not be guess-work. I would be so frustrated if I was you.

I've done Alaska cruises several times and would definitely go again. I loved it.

Just_Lin said...

Barb It would be so fun to cruise with you and Lynn. This October my daughter and I are taking a cruise down our coast. It starts in Vancouver, B.C. and goes down to LA. We are trying to figure out what to do when we stop here in S.F. LOL Initially, we had been thinking of a European cruise and spending time at the end of it in Paris but then the bombings happened. That, and cost considerations, made us decide to do a less expensive cruise close to home. Riverboat cruises are really charming but a little more expensive. The ships are small so there are no casinos on them but there is entertainment every night. I went on two cruises on the Mississippi, one on the Columbia River, and one that went from Portland to Alaska.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I am going to bed a little earlier than I used to. I must be getting old.

You and Louis are really having some busy days on your vacation. It sounds like you are having a great time. Yum, cobbler! That's a nice touch.

Another cruise that would not get too hot would be one of the fall ones going up the eastern coast. It's nice to see the fall colors and stop at places like Boston.

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I haven't committed to going on a cruise quite yet, but I have committed to think about it. I'm going to research the cost, etc and then I will decide. It sounds like you are enjoying your trip. After driving to and from Las Vegas, I don't think I would like to take a long trip by car like you are doing.

sacBarb said...

J/L, so do you fly to Vancouver to board the cruise and then fly home from L.A.? LOL @ what to do in S.F. I am going home tomorrow evening. The Vet will be closed, so I'll pick up the cats on Thursday.

sacBarb said...

Jodi, good news about Sam. Of course young' ns do heal more quickly than us old fogies. (I don' mean you're an old fogie). LOL. One of my Hubbie's cousins is in a similar program at Safeway and she is moving up in the organization very quickly.

sacBarb said...

Mary, I'm still thinking about the cruise thing.

Just_Lin said...

Barb Yes, my daughter and I are going to fly up to Vancouver two days before the cruise so we can do some things there. We aren't going to spend time in LA, though.

Last night a friend and I went to Olive Garden for dinner. I had my Zuppa Toscana which I love. Because I am watching what I eat, I ordered the Garlic Rosemary Chicken. I didn't like it much which was disappointing and I only ate about 2/3 of it. It came with spinach but I didn't realize it was just going to be a small hand full of plain, raw spinach thrown on the plate. LOL

Jodi said...

SLIN - There was actually more in the inside safe than was listed. And Milissa actually blamed Peggy whom found the mistake. She said she should've left it. Again, she takes no ownership in the mistakes she has made. GRRRRR!!!!

Jodi said...

BARB - Sounds like she wants to go full time sooner rather than later. Her surgeon said she could, just let him know and he would write another letter for her. Safe travels home. I bet your kitties have missed you!
