BOO!!
I am sure we won't be getting Trick or Treat ers here. We havaen't since surrounding kids have grown up and left their nests. I have candy (I like) just in case :)
Tomorrow begins my pre-op regimen, blood work,EKG,/ post op.therapy for in home and out, appointments.
I have anti bacterial nose ointment, vitamins and antibacterial soap. I have to bath with the soap four days before, everyday, and on my surgery day. Lots of medical stuff to read too. I had a tiny panic attack today reading all the instructions!

Matthew has bus driving classes scheduled the week of my surgery, 70 miles from my hosp. I am not sure Jim will be much support. I think I will ask my best friend and her hubby to be there. They were with me almost everyday when Jim had his stroke. Friends like that are hard to find.

Happy Halloween. We get no kids either. I guess since we live in a retirement place. I had candy just in case. We ended up going to Costco to get prescriptions and a few other things. I got some really cute little things for the gals in my drs office for Christmas. They have some cute things out. We then had our hot dog dinner. We had snow lightly and cold last night but it didn’t stick and was 56 and sunny today.

Mary, why do you have to use nose ointment? You’re going to be busy this next week. I’m glad you have great friends to come to the hospital. I’m a little concerned on how you are going to do at home on your own that first week. Can your friends come over and help out?
Don’t panic...you’re an old hand at these knee surgeries! Again, I wish we lived closer.

I don’t have much to say today. Had a dermo appt at 8 this am. Why I ever made it that early is beyond me. I had to get up at 6:30..,very dark out. Hope everything going good with all.

JL, that discoloration in your leg might just hang around. Think I mentioned to you that mine is like that for many years. Do you have your Christmas cards yet? You usually (it seems) get them early like I do and then we stress about getting them out timely.

Barb, do you have yours all made? I haven’t heard you mention it lately. Your bday dinner looked wonderful. I’m trying to pass up tall the free desserts that places offer for bdays. I get emails from places.

Mary I have so much candy left over! I started out with 200 pieces of candy and ended up only having three very young trick-or-treaters. No one knocked on my door after 7:30. I'll probably go drop off the rest of the candy at the veterinary hospital where I worked. I should have kept the receipt from when I purchased it as I could have taken the unopened bag back to the store. I told myself to do that a year ago but I forgot. Darn it!

It is quite a production to go into the hospital for knee surgery. I remember my brother had to do all that bathing with the special soap, too, but I remember it as being for only a couple days ahead of time. I don't think he had to do a nose spray. When I had my unplanned hospital stay recently, they had me gargle with something that was supposed to protect me from pneumonia. I have had a vaccine for pneumonia but I guess there are different types. I'm sorry I don't live closer or I would go with you to the hospital and wiat for you to be out of recovery. I hope your friends are able to go.

Dianne No, I don't have my Christmas cards yet. For one thing, I feel like I have a lot of extra expenses lately and I'm trying to help out my son's family when I can. If I end up going on the cruise in February that I put a down payment on, it will be because of credit cards. Hey, you only live once, right?

It looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day here. I guess in a couple of days the temperature is supposed to drop and then it will feel more like fall. I'm so glad I don't live somewhere where it snows. I hope you have good weather for your road trip to Branson.

Well, I still haven't seen any movies. My movie partners, John and Jane, just left for a week to visit family in Oregon. A few days after they return, they will be going to San Diego for a few days. The day after that, I will be going down to spend 8 days at my brother's. I may have to just go see the movie by myself.

Barb Waving a wing at you. Did you like "On Your Feet"? I've heard that it was really good but I don't have any desire to see it. I hope you enjoyed it. Did you go with Sharon?

Justlin, we had zero kids. I only bought one bag of candy. A DDS near me is paying people money by the lb for any candy they bring in. Some are donating it to the troops over seas.

Dianne & Justlin, The nose ointment is an antibiotic. There is a big danger of infection after any surgery especially Knees type. I think the ointment is a precaution for any possible infection interring through my nose since it is a warm moist area. That is also why they strongly discourage any dental work before or too soon after surgeries.
Remember my neighbor Jim, who had both knees replaced? He had dental work soon after his surgery. he contracted 4 different types of infections (not just due to dental work) and had to have both legs amputated up past his knees! I think the hospital is making sure to cover their end.

It sure makes me feel special when yo gals say you would be here for me if you lived closer. I bet I would do the same for any of you xoxoxoxo

I meant to say "You bet I would do the same for all of you". I think I spelled "entering" wrong too lol!!

Mary I understand the reasoning behind the nose ointment, I just don't recall them doing all this precautionary stuff when I had my surgery to remove my thyroid but that was a couple of decades ago now. Boy, how time flies when you're having fun. I hope you don't get to anxious about your surgery. Try to look forward to when it's all over and your pain will be in the past and you'll be able to enjoy your walks with the dog again.

There's nothing exciting here for me to write about. We turned our clocks back on Saturday night. I always hate when that happens because it gets dark so early. I always thought this had something to do with farmers and perhaps it did. A more recent argument to continue doing this is that if we don't, kids would end up walking to school in the dark so that would not be good.

J/L, I enjoyed On Your Feet very much. Although I like Gloria Estafan, I wasn’t all that excited about seeing it. It was very upbeat, except for the part when she is estranged from her mother. The music was great and some of us were tapping our feet through the whole show.
We got zero kids on Halloween. This is the 5th year In the past, I bought candy ‘just in case’ and ended up eating it myself, so this year I didn’t buy any candy. I have gained weight since Chad has been here, and I did not need candy to add to it. I told Chad he has to stop cooking, however that’s not going to happen.

Mary, I remember having to do all that prep before my heart and back surgery. My knees were in 2004 and 2007, and I didn’t have to do any of that for either surgery. Since I can’t be there in person, I’ll be there in spirit and pray all goes well. Maybe Jim will surprise you and be more help than you expected.

Dianne, The Jennifers and I haven’t even started our Christmas cards yet. We are getting a very late start because all of us have been so busy. The Jens are getting together on Veteran’s day, but I’m going to be in LA with Chad. I have some paperwork to go through related to my brother’s estate. While we are in LA we may be going to a taping of Dancing With The Stars. Chad requested tickets, but they don’t release them until five days before taping, so we won’t know until we are in LA. We leave tomorrow and will return on the 13th.

I love that you celebrate your birthday for the whole month. I made a card for you, but I can’t find it in this mess of a house. We are still working on combining my stuff with Chad’s and then Arch’s stuff is thrown in, and everything is still a mess. It’s driving me crazy, because these boys are so slow about getting it done. Both Chad and I have gotten rid of a lot of stuff and probably will have more before we are done.

Sorry I have been mia. I have been running around doing pre-op blood work, ekg, and the lovely urine samples. I had to do them twice and may have to do them again. Seems there are a few things off that need to be addressed. I am hoping it is only "uti", because anything else would not be so good.
Jim is being scheduled for an MRI on his aneurysms one in his head and one on his aorta. So you see I have been a bit stressed out, which could be part of my problem. Watching him drinking and smoking just adds to it!
Tomorrow I have a bit of running around to do. I will be getting a small turkey. We usually go to my Niece's Raquel's home, but that is a two hr drive and I am not sure I will be up to that long a drive so soon after surgery.
Later....

A quick fly-by..
My son Tony called this morning tell me his son, my Grandson, Logan, and his wife will be having twins! I am beyond thrilled! They are living in the Seattle are doing his Air force training. Tony sent me their sonogram. Cool!!

Hi ....Mary, I have a Logan grandson too. How really exciting to be having great grandchildren twins! Will this be their first babies? I’ll be they and your son are thrilled too! Great news. Congratulations.
That Dr is taking a long time to get you results. The waiting is such torture. I’m praying every day for you. I’m assuming your knee surgery is still scheduled for the 14th. When is Jim’s MRI scheduled? Too much dang stress. You may not feel like hobbling to the kitchen to fix a turkey dinner. Hopefully, your son will help.

Barb, hope everything goes good for you on your LA trip. Glad your son went with you. Boy, this is really late for you and your friends to start cards. Hopefully you will get them done in time. How many are you making? Thanks for the thought of my bday card. If you find it some day....just send it on over. How fun that you might get to go to DWTS taping. Be sure and let us know.

JL, well....it’s time to start my packing. Louis brought in the luggage this afternoon. You know how that will go for me. I’m taking some Christmas tops since the shows will be a lot of Christmas. I’m very anxious to see all the shows but especially The Texas Tenors.
My friend gave me a bday present Saturday and went to my favorite clothes store and then took the top to a place and had The had Texas Tenors put on the shirt. I hoping I’ll get a picture with them in the lobby after the show. They are going to be on America’s Got Talent on Jan 7 competing with past runner ups. I’m definately a groupie.

Went to an annual craft show with some friends and Tammy on Saturday. I look forward to it all year. I need help with the mobility issue so Tammy and friends push me. It’s a big craft show and fun. We went to lunch before and they celebrated my bday. I ended up buying more things than I should have and even a cute Christmas lantern. I’m trying to scale back but it was so darn cute. We are putting up tree, etc., this weekend before we leave. I don’t want to deal with putting it all up when we get home. We won’t be home until the 27th. I’m in the spirit already and after two weeks of Christmas shows, I really will be ready.

Ok...signing off...night

Barb I hope you had a pleasant trip down to LA. I won't be watching DWTS live on Monday as I will be picking my daughter up from the airport. Tomorrow she is dropping her dogs off with me and I am taking her to the airport. These means my bed will be very crowded at night until Monday. I will watch the show on recording. They don't show too much of the audience so I don't expect to see you. Oh, by the way.....I've seen that Milo has been on the last couple of episodes of American Housewife. I'm not a fan of that show but it comes on between two shows that I like so I sometimes end up half-way watching it as I'm doing other stuff.

All of a sudden, I see tons of leaves flying past my front window. My neighbors must hate me at this time of year as the leaves from the tree in my front yard end up all over everyone else's lawn. LOL

Mary Wow! You're going to be a great-grandma! And with twins, too! That's exciting!

I hope everything turns out okay with the urine test and it doesn't delay your surgery. You've waited a long time to get to this appointment. I know you will insist on doing some cooking while you recuperate. Do you have a stool you can sit on while you do kitchen prep work? My friend, Kathy, has had a number of knee surgeries and back surgeries and uses a walker now. She has a wide, padded stool she sits on when doing prep work in the kitchen. She then barks orders at her husband to fetch her stuff that she can't easily reach from there. LOL He doesn't seem to mind at all as they work as a team to get food on the table. She loves to cook and he seems to love being the assistant.

Dianne That would be fun if you could get a photo with the Texas Tenors wearing your special shirt. I forget when you leave on your trip. I fly down to my brother's on the 19th and I'm already thinking about what I want to take. He doesn't drink coffee so I always take coffee and Coffee-mate. It's not like he doesn't have stores there. LOL There is a small coffee pot that was my mother's. I think I'd go nuts if I couldn't have a couple of cups of coffee every morning.

I desperately need new clothes. I actually went shopping on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday I only ended up buying a light cardigan/jacket thing that I liked. Yesterday I went somewhere else looking for tops. Although I didn't find any tops, I did find some jeans that fit well so I bought two pairs and then went to the show section and bought new tennis shoe. I also came across a cute little bracelet that I bought to put in my daughter's Christmas stocking. All in all, it was a successful day.

Dianne2 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I sent you a card. I hope it got there in time.

JL...it did thank you very much. I’m still celebrating when I should be packing. We went to a tea today (Tammy, sister in law, niece and a couple of others ) at a beautiful old hotel. It was really fun and decorated for Christmas. It sounds like you did well shopping. I still do most of it online with Catherine’s. You can return to the store and not have to mail it back. Bad part....I take a return and find something in the store to buy....how’s the crowded bed this weekend?

It snowed some over the night but not bad when I left this afternoon. By the time tea was over it had gotten icy. I was scared just walking to the car right in front of hotel. I drove very slow home. Tammy drive from downtown to where we parked our cars. It’s supposed to stop by morning. I sure hope so.

Barb, are you going to the DWTS show? Hope you got tickets. How’s your trip going? Getting everything Done?

Mary, just a few more days to wait. I’ll bet you’re getting anxious to get it over with finally. Everything going ok? Did you ever hear from dr? You know you’re in my prayers.
