God, Explained by Children

by Dianne

'One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth.
He doesn't make grownups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn't have to take up his valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.'

'God's second most important job is listening to prayers.  An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times beside bedtime.
God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. Because he hears everything, there must be a terrible lot of noise in his ears, unless he has thought of a way to turn it off.'

'God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting his time by going over your mom and dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have.'

'Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista . At least there aren't any who come to our church.'

'Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work, like walking on water, performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about God.
They finally got tired of him preaching to them and they crucified him. But he was good and kind, like his father, and he told his father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said O.K.' And God did not let Jesus stay in the grave, but raised him from the dead.

'His dad (God) appreciated everything that he had done and all his hard work on earth so he told him he didn't have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven. So he did. And now he helps his dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones he can take care of himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important.'

'You can pray anytime you want and either God or Jesus are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time.'

'You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God!

Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway.'

'If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared, in the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids.'

'But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and he can take me back anytime he pleases.

That was sweet Dianne. It had to come from Tina. Trying to make me feel guilty for not going to church on Sunday, instead of shoveling snow lol!!!

We have had the last of the daily sub zero temps. Now we have to worry about flooding! If all this snow melts with the coming warm temps, there will be a mess for many.
I am going to venture out today to pick up a few things and maybe go for a quick round at one of the local Gyms.
I joined "Silver Sneakers". It lets you go to any Gym nation wide for free if you are above a certain age. Not sure if it is through my BCBS or Medicare. You do have to sign up and check in, but for free I can handle that. I already visited one. They let you do what you want if you don't want to be bothered, or they have group things to do like yoga etc. Just go to "SilverSneakers.com" to see if you qualify. I am excited to have a few places to go when ever I chose without paying a fee.

It's the health care peeps wanting to keep us oldies loose and active lol!

Mary, I’m glad the weather is finally going to warm up a little for you guys. I got a notice about Silver Sneakers from Kaiser, my insurance carrier. I am going to look into it, too.

J/L, I was reading about some herbs, etc. tonight and I came across an article that talked about ginger tea disolving kidney stones. I thought your daughter might be interested. Using fresh ginger, peel it and shred it into cold water and boil it on med. heat for about five minutes. Then strain it and drink. It can be made in big batches and kept in a glass container in the fridge for up to a week. I will try to email the article to you.

Aloha ....I’m back. Wanted to stay longer but they made me get off the ship. There were quite a few people doing back to back cruises. I Was very envious. Amazing how many people have done 20-30 cruises. This was our seventh. We had a great time. Everything went perfect. I even read 2-1/2 books. We saw great entertainment aboard the ship and our excursions were fun. I loved our sunset dinner cruise and the five hour Pearl Harbor excursion. We met so many interesting people. It was our first time doing anytime dining and we really liked it. We shared a table of 6 every night. We went to tea one day on ship. I’m ready to go Again! I have so many pictures that I could give you each an 8x10.

JL, how is your daughter doing? Sounds very painful. I hope she’s much better now. Tammy is still struggling with her torn hamstring but is in pt. There was a girl that broke her ankle getting off the tender from Maui. I felt bad for her as the water was getting rough a little by then. I hope your daughter will be all well by the time of your cruise.

Mary, I guess we got quite a bit of snow while we were gone. It snowed pretty hard the day after we left but it was up to 60 when we came home. More snow expected on Thursday. We talked to this grumpy lady from Chicago that was wishing she was home on the snow...didn’t like her excursions, the food, etc. her husband said she never likes anything. Boy, what a joy to travel with for two weeks ! I’ll bet she’s not happy at home either.

Barb, we have Senior Sneakers on our insurance. Louis joined it and goes to the gym for the treadmill...occasionally. He gained eight pounds on trip and I haven’t weighed yet! I have a physical on Wednesday and I’m sure my dr won’t be happy with my weight.

Dianne, Glad you had a wonderful time! I have a gal that I have known from work, that meets us for lunch once a month. She is very negative. She rarely has anything nice to say about anything. Another friend of mine went to Hawaii with her and she made everyone +
1miserable! I feel sorry for her so I try to ignore her negativity. People like that are hard to love lol! I try to see the good in everyone. I guess I am an incurable Pollyanna lol!!

SacBarb,We got an ice storm last night and expecting another tonight. Matthew was halfway to the bus barn when they called him about the school cancellation! He was not happy, especially with the roads all icy!
I use ginger in my tea. I have fresh and powder. It settles my tummy.

Just_Lin, Are you ok?? Check in please :)

Hi...it’s -5 here tonight. Wind chill is -12. Brrr and quite a bit of snow. I drove home from across town from ww and it was scary. It was annual physical day And ww so got weighed twice...it wasn’t pretty. I gained 8 pounds! They just announced schools closed here tomorrow.

Mary, it must be miserable to be so negative all the time. They can’t be very happy.

Not much else going on. Nothing is getting anything done around here. Sweet Louis did all five loads of laundry.

Mary Here I am! I'm not really up to much lately so have little to write about. If I'm not out trying to clothes shop, then I'm home staying out of the rain. We've had some pretty good rain storms come through and I am happy to use that as an excuse to stay in and stay cozy with no makeup and dressed for comfort. I wouldn't be able to cope with the kind of weather you get at all.

Sunday before last, I got together with some of my ex-coworkers for breakfast. It had been almost a year since we all met up for a visit. Wow, how time flies! There were a number of reasons it had been so long since we got together, mostly because of health reasons for one of us. I think it's great that you still go to your luncheons and get together with people you used to work with. It's nice to keep those friendships going. At the breakfast with my friends, I mentioned in an off-handed way that it didn't make sense that I quit working so thereby decreased my income then got a dog that I pay to have taken out for social outings twice a week, thereby increasing my expenditures. One of my veterinarian friends said they just hired someone new at the cat clinic but if they don't work out, she'll call me. Yikes! I don't know if I really want to go back to work, even part time. I'd have to seriously think about it as I really like being totally free to do what I want, when I want. More money would be nice, though.

Dianne Well, 8 pounds sounds par for the course. I hope I don't gain 8 pounds on my trip as I will not be able to fit in my jeans if I do. The day your ship came back to LA, a waitress at my local coffee shop was telling me her mom just docked in LA after being on a Princess cruise to Hawaii. I bet it was the same cruise as what you were on. It's a small world. Have you signed up for another cruise, yet?

I've been to Pearl Harbor a couple of times and it is such a moving experience. I think everyone who goes to Hawaii should go to Pearl Harbor.

I'm going through my usual angst regarding clothes shopping. I am not having much luck. I have ordered a couple of things online so I hope those work out okay. There will be two formal nights on my cruise and I'm all set for those, at least. I have my passport out sitting on my dresser so I won't forget it.

Barb Today looks to be a pretty nice day but we have more rain coming. The other night we had some impressive hail. I opened the kitchen door so I could watch it landing on the deck. It was making quite a racket. The dog didn't want anything to do with it and wouldn't even come in the kitchen. She's no dummy. LOL

Today I go get my hair cut and dyed. It's been 5 weeks since my last appointment which is a week longer than usual for me. I was trying to stretch it out so my hair wouldn't be too out of control during the cruise and that my white roots wouldn't be too obnoxious.

So, how's it going with having roommates? Are you still enjoying the company or are you missing having the place all to yourself?

Just_Lin, We had another ice storm last night. No school again. It was really bad! Ice on top of ice sucks! Many are out of power. The ice is covering all the wires and trees. It looks pretty, but a potential hazard!

A small town 6 miles from us has two rivers run through it. One had a massive ice sheet break up an cause some major flooding. Many had to be taken by boat to a shelter. An antique place I like to go to was one of the riverfront stores that flooded along with a restaurant/bar. What a mess! They didn't need more !
I tried to walk out to the bird feeder and had to stop. Too slippery. I just tossed the seeds on top of the ice. The birds seeped happy.

Dianne. Welcome home! Jim doesn't even know how to start the washer and dryer! You are lucky! Give Louis an attah boy from me :)
Be careful out there! I am laying low until the roads are clear and dry. Good thing I stocked up on groceries! I am so ready for spring!

SacBarb. It figures now that I can go to the work-out places, I can't drive to them due to the weather lol! I will as soon as possible! I need to move!!

Glad to see you all in the nest!!

Hi.....We have quite a bit of snow today and the high was 15 BUT the sun was shining. I even went to the car wash to get some of junk off my car as you couldn’t even see the license plate. It won’t stay clean but the major stuff is gone. The roads weren’t too bad as I met Tammy and em for lunch. I came home and took a “short” nap until 9:30! I don’t know why I’m so tired and not getting anything put away from trip.

JL, will you be doing pictures on formal night? We have so many of them...I don’t know what to do with them. I hope your online clothes work out for you. Tell me again the date you leave? I’m envious of you going on a cruise! I’ll bet your waitress. Ok was on the same cruise. Maybe I met Her! We put $100 down for each of us (refundable) for a deposit on a cruise in the next two years. We will see as it’s so expensive. I really liked being gone for 15 days too.

Mary, I wouldn’t like ice storms. I wear my boots and just try to walk where Snow has been cleared. I’m really scared of falling. How’s your knee doing? I was reading in some previous posts that you were having some issues with it and were being encouraged to let you dr know.

Barb, hi.

H e l l o ......where are you all? JL, are you on cruise yet? Mary, are you snowed in there? Barb, what are you doing?

Not much new here. I had a CT scan on my lower back yesterday for this back pain I’ve had since June. I finshed up with pt on Thursday and it hasn’t helped much. Dr office left message today that scan shows bilateral Sacroiliitis joint inflammation or SI joint pain. She has referred me to a rheumatologist that I will call tomorrow. It is making me walk so bent over and hurts when walking or getting up from bed or chair. I’ve researched it on google with many descriptions. I guess I’ll see where it goes from there. I did have the pain in my leg but that is at least gone.

We’re having pretty nice weather with snow canceled twice but looks like it’s coming this weekend. My house is still cluttered from vacation...I’m just lazy!

Check in hooters
