Buying A Mercedes

by Dianne

A retired older couple return to a Mercedes
dealership where the salesman has just sold the car they
were interested in to a beautiful, leggy, busty blonde in a
mini skirt and a halter top.
The old man was visibly upset. He spoke
 to the salesman sharply.
"Young man, I  thought you said you would hold
that car till we raised the £55,000 asking price,"
 said the older man.
"Yet I just heard you closed the deal for £45,000 to
 the lovely young lady there."
" And if I remember right, you had insisted there was
no way you could discount this model."
The salesman took a deep breath, cleared his throat and
reached for a large glass of water.
"Well, what can I tell you? She had the cash ready,
didn't need any financing help, and, Sir, just look at
her, how could I resist?", replied the grinning
 salesman sheepishly..
Just then the young woman approached the senior couple and
gave the car keys to the old man...
"There you go," she said. "I told you I could
get that idiot to lower the price...."
 "See you later, DADDY!!

Dianne Thanks for the blog. What would we do without you?

How nice that you and Louis were able to have such a nice long visit with Kathy and Randy. And your room was upgraded to a suite? How did you swing that? It's so great that Louis was over his sickness so you could take this trip and have this nice visit with our Arizona friends.

My dinner at Benihana was fabulous! Since I had the $30 off birthday certificate, I went whole hog and ordered the filet mignon and shrimp combo. So delicious! I did have to endure them singing Happy Birthday to me. LOL

Mary You made me LOL when you wrote that you were waiting for your dog to wake up so you could make the bed. I'm constantly walking around my dog or stepping over her but I'm sure I'd make her move so I could make the bed. We are so funny with our pets.

It's going to be a rainy day today and it looks like it's just now starting. This may be a "stay home and stay ugly" day for me, meaning no make-up and no fussing with the hair. There's nothing I need to go out for but I probably should try to at least do a little housework.

Barb Do you usually shop at Safeway? If so, have you been playing the Monopoly game? I have and it is a pain in the ass but I have used some of the coupons I've gotten from it and certainly taken advantage of the "free donut" ones. I've also won $5 which I still have to collect. I need to do that soon as the game is ending. Anyway, using the "tokens" I won, I got a number of free items when I went grocery shopping yesterday. Two of the items were a free loaf of french bread and free pasta so I made spaghetti last night. I hadn't made that in a while and it seemed to taste especially good. And Yay for leftovers. That makes for a nice, easy dinner on this cold and rainy day. I guess I need to eat my free stuff before I get serious about Weight Watchers again. LOL Any excuse......

It was a nasty day in Michigan. All kinds of weather warnings. Zoie and I took a nap and missed it all lol! Jim left while I was asleep ans Matthew was out too. I woke up to a pool of water on the kitchen floor. The wind and rain must have been pretty bad to go through the screen door. Jim didn't close up the house or lock us in before he left.

I'm watching American Idol. It's the finale. I love both of the finalists!

Just_Lin, You could never look ugly!!

Hi....we are in Albuquerque tonight and will get home tomorrow night. The weather is in the 60’s and very windy all the way from Phoenix here. We were very lucky that the weather wasn’t too hot in Phoenix. We had one day of 106 and the rest in the low 80’s. We even ate outside for lunch one day. We had a great visit with Kathy and randy for about five hours. Our two shows were great except last night the parking garages from the night before were closed down. Stupid downtown. We had no idea where to park. Finally found a garage about two blocks away and lady said elevator closed on weekends. Whoever heard of such a thing? Louis had to drop me off and then push my travel chair up the ramp. There was a ball game and the symphony both going on so you wouldn’t think they’d be closed. They weren’t Friday night. Stressful

Mary, I watched American idol tonight too. I never watch it but liked all the stars that were on tonight. What did you think of the Winner? I don’t know them well enough to have a favorite. Adam Lambert sure looks different....I almost didn’t recognize him. He had on black nail polish...I think that looks strange personally but I’m old with old ideas! I hope you didn’t have too much of a mess to clean up in the kitchen.

JL, still rainy there? I love left over spaghetti. Well, I made these reservations at hotels in January and had handicap with roll in shower. I added an extra day when we were driving and they said I’d have same room. When I recd the confirmation it said tub shower. I called right away and they said no toll in shower available. I’m scared to step over a tub and I really complained to no avail. They put it in the notes they said. When we arrived we’d been changed to a suite with roll in shower for $104 a night! It was a great room and I was very grateful. They had a nice breakfast each morning too.

Barb, you seem to be pretty busy since chad moved in with you. Are you enjoying that each day? You know I like to be busy. How was the Show?

Mary/MI said...

Dianne. I loved the winner. He was a talented cutie :) The other guy was good too. I hope he goes far.
The kitchen floor needed washing anyway lol!
Adam has always worn dark nail polish. I have gotten used to men wearing funking things lol. I prolly looked funny wearing my GoGo boots,Ben Casey shirt, madras and the going steady ring wrapped in angora lol!

We had ac on for two days and turned the heat on today. What a spring we are having!

btw, I did get Diana Ross ticket. Jim didn't want to go.

We’re home...got here about 4:30 after going to po and picking up our mail. We drove 1900 miles. We came home to rain and snow. It’s snowing hard here tonight...2-4” by morning....heavy wet snow. We have heat on again too. Mary, do you have a picture of that girl all decked out? Glad you got the show ticket. It should be fun. Louis is glad to be home. Long drive for a couple of concerts but hey, we got to see Kathy and randy too!

Mary/MI said...

Dianne, Glad you made it home safe, but what's up with the snow?? In your pic., Louis looked pretty good. You take a good picture. I never do! I am def. not photogenic!

Matthew was late for dinner tonight. His being a bus driver I'm always afraid to ask him lol. Anyway. he was driving a load of kids when he made a stop and noticed a student on the corner looking him right in the eye and pointed both hands at him as if to shoot him! The kids noticed him too and shouted. Matthew had to stop, call the police and write a report. One of the kids said he knew one of the kids with the pointer, so they do have an idea where to look. Matthew could not say for sure if it was just his hands or if he had something in them. I heard later that outdoor activities were stopped and put on lock down to be safe.Haven't heard if they located the idiot!

I have an eye appointment tomorrow. Last time they didn't tell me they were going to dilate them. It was a scary trip home!
Well, gottah get back to the "Voice". I don't have a fave./ Latter.....

Dianne said...

Hi.....well, we recd about at least 4” of snow at our house. Many trees down in the city. Tammy lost her big tree in front yard. We broke records with how late the snow was and how cold today was too. We reached a high of 37 but at least the roads were ok. I got a new phone today. I had the iPhone 7 and now moved up to the iPhone XR. Louis said mine was holding a charge long enough and it was getting old. Do any of you have a 7? I have a lot of cute phone cases I’d be glad to send or if you know someone. I’ll hold the Bronco ones.

Mary, thanks for the compliment but I think intake terrible photos. Louis always takes a good picture. How scary for Matthew! Glad he made a police report right away and glad all is ok. Gosh, you just never know in today’s crazy world. Did it stress him a lot? I guess he has to be calm with the kids on the bus with him.

Hello JL and Barb.....out there somewhere.

Dianne said...

Mary, how did the eye appt go today? Everything a-ok? Still raining here today and tomorrow but hopefully nice weekend. I have a serious problem.....I order things from Catherine’s ..my favorite clothes store and if I have it shipped to store it saves me $8 shipping. Problem being when I go pickup I find a few other things in the store and buy them so I’m spending more than the shipping fee is very single time! It would be cheaper to pay the darn shipping to my house cc

Hi...
We almost had another flood in our laundry room. I was not washing a couple of things and the water didn’t drain. I freaked out. Louis though we needed to call a plumber tomorrow. Finally figured out how to get it just to spin. It worked! My heart is still pounding. It’s still raining here but at the end of the day I saw blue sky and the sun...finally. Went to dinner with my niece tonight and heard all the update wedding plans. She’s getting married in August. We’re going to her couples shower/bbq next week. We have a graduation party this Saturday... my uncles granddaughter that I don’t know. Fun

I did a little nudging tonight. Xxoo

sacBarb said...

Thanks for the nudge, Dianne. I haven’t been on the computer a lot lately. I did post some stuff yesterday but I wasn’t on for long. I have been making some cards for tomorrow and Saturday. The two Jennifers are coming over tomorrow and Saturday and we each have a project to teach the other two.

I will go back and catch up on what you all have been doing and hopefully get some time on Sunday to come back and tell you all what’s going on here. Love you all. ❤️❤️❤️

Just_Lin said...

Dianne Thank you for the nudge. Time seems to be flying by while I am basically doing nothing of interest.

A couple of days ago I took my dog for a walk in the neighborhood and I felt good that I did it even though my sciatica was making it uncomfortable but it was still endurable. Then the next day I took her for a walk again and had to take the shortest route as sciatica ended up hurting so bad that I was fantasizing about someone coming along and giving me a ride home even though I was only two blocks away. LOL It did make me remember about doing exercises that help with it so I have started up with those again.

My asthma has also been especially bad lately and I'm not sure why. It's been raining a lot so you'd think that would keep the pollen out of the air. One of the culprits was probably the beautiful bouquet of flowers that my daughter got me for Mother's Day. I finally got rid of those yesterday.

Mary That incident with the kid "fake shooting" at your son is not cool at all. What a jerk! It is scary that such cavalier attitudes about shooting people has become almost normal in this country. I think if I lived in Europe I might not want to visit the U.S. because of all the wackos walking around with guns.

Last Sunday, the young couple that live across the street brought me dinner. How sweet was that? It was absolutely delicious, too. It was tri-tip, rice pilaf, salad, and dinner rolls. Oh, and four peanut butter/chocolate chip cookies. Yum! Last night I made a meatloaf so today I get to have a meatloaf sandwich for lunch. Yay!

Just_Lin said...

Barb I see that Dianne gave you a nudge, too. LOL

We've had so much rain for the last month or so that I hadn't seen my gardener for a while and the front yard was starting to look terrible. The weeds were really growing like, well, weeds and were getting tall and embarrassing. Thankfully, he was here yesterday with his helper and they got everything looking good again. Today the weather is just gray and crappy looking.

Some of the promos for the next "Bachelorette" episode, makes it look like Hannah finally gets that Luke P. is too much and maybe is smothering her. Hopefully, she lets him go.

I have seen any movies in the theater in quite a while but I am interested in "Rocketman". That reminds me, Paul McCartney is playing in Vegas on June 28. That would probably be a good show.

Dianne, My exam went well. My eye pressure was down. I did tell him that I thought the new day time drops were causing my terrible sinus problems. I have had trouble sleeping and non stop sinus drainage. He agreed to take me off of it and go back to my old stuff. It has been 3 days since I stopped the new drops, and already I see the difference! I still have a bit of drainage, but not as dramatic as before! Every time I blue my nose all my other orifices would let loose lol! Thank goodness. My ears hurt, head ached too, from all the nose blowing!

JustLin,Paul McCartney puts on an awesome show! I saw him in Vegas a few years back.
Sorry about your sciatica and asthma! I am proud of you for walking through the pain. I know... it sucks lol! You still get an "attah" girl!

SacBarb,We have had a lot of rain. We expecting a bad storm tonight. I put some of my potted plats away just in case we get the hail they are predicting.
How fun to have friends over for a project. Keeping busy keeps you out of trouble lol!
Miss you!

Hi...Well, today I recd a text from Barb telling me to pick up things for lunch! I told her I’d be glad to but it might take awhile to get there. Lol. She accidentally thought she was texting Chad.

Mary, glad dr changed your meds and you are getting better. I feel your pain about everything being affected. I have to watch those big coughs! We bought a hanging plant but had to keep it in garage for two days and nights as we were hitting freezing. We finally were able to put it out yesterday. Now if we can just remember to water it often.

JL, we went to a graduation party today and this lady was telling me about her back pain and I was telling her about mine. She said she had three epidurals in her back a couple of months ago and she walks and feels so much better. My steroid shot didn’t do a thing for me but I go back to dr on the 18th and see what he thinks. It hurts so bad walking or standing. I had something so embarrassing happen. We are having a 55th reunion in July and the Pom Pom girls are getting a limo and touring the old neighborhood, school and having lunch. They asked me on fb messenger to join them. They’ve gotten to know me from fb. I private messaged two of them explaining my mobility issues. They suggested for me to bring my travel chair. I personally would be so uncomfortable as I was never in their group plus I feel bad enough for Louis to be stuck with me much less the Pom Pom girls! Well...I’m reading the reunion messenger and I read from one of the organizers that she has sad news to report. I’m reading thinking someone died and then I see my name that they are sad I’m not joining them and why. Now they are all messaging that they will push me...on the whole reunion blog! I explained how grateful I am for them but I will just see everyone at the reunion. I always wanted to be in this clique of girls and after 72 years I guess I’ve made it in there. I really am not crazy about this being on the whole group messenger and that’s why I did a private message. Very nice of them but I feel really embarrassed. That’s my today story

Dianne said...

Barb, did you get your lunch items? It was so funny to see that txt from you. How did card making go? Have you started Christmas cards yet? It’s nice you all get together. Fun.

Tonight I watched a show I recorded called Larry’s Diner last week. My group The Texas Tenors were performing on there. They’ve been asked to be on the Boston Pops July 4th special. It’s very nice exciting and great exposure for them ....says the fan club member.

Just watched a wonderful Memorial Day special. It was quite emotional listening to the stories from each war and seeing all the Veterans. Such brave people.

Anyone have any special plans tomorrow. We are going about an hour from here to meet our friends from Wyoming. Her 70th bday is Tuesday, so we will celebrate her special day.

I just wanted to say hello to you all

Just_Lin said...

Dianne I have no plans for the holiday. I did buy some baby back ribs which I will cook in the oven. I'll also make a pasta salad and corn on the cob. That's about it. If my back isn't set off my sciatica too bad, I will take the dog for a walk. It's supposed to be nice weather. Today was drizzling and cool.

I'm sorry you feel embarrassed about the girls sharing you private issues on the reunion blog. Don't worry about it, though. It's certainly nothing to be embarrassed about and it's nice that they were all hoping you'd be joining them. You're a fun person with a great personality. Everyone enjoys your company, sitting or standing.

That was funny that Barb texted you to pick up lunch stuff. Now, that would have been another road trip for you and Louis. LOL

Enjoy your visit with your Wyoming friends. I don't think I've ever even met anyone from Wyoming.

Just_Lin said...

Mary I'm glad your eye appointment went well. Did you have to have your eyes dilated again and then drive that way? Yikes!

I would love to see Paul McCartney as he is an icon and he's not getting any younger. Then again, neither am I. LOL That's great that you got a ticket to see Diana Ross. She probably puts on a good show, too. She's still so pretty. I watch the show "Blackish" and her daughter is one of the stars on that. It's a very good show. One of my FB friends is the grandfather of the youngest boy on the show. He's a very talented kid.

I hope the weather hasn't been to bad where you are. Some parts of the country have really been hit hard with storms and tornadoes.

Just_Lin said...

Barb Where are you? Are you still waiting for Dianne to bring your lunch? LOL I assume we will both be watching the ongoing drama on The Bachelorette. Such a guilty pleasure!

Dianne said...

JL....how sweet of you to say that about me. Thank you. Your dinner sounds very good. We had left over meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I wasn’t very hungry since lunch. Tornados and hail all around but we missed it all. I’m really scared of that kind of weather. We had a nice lunch with our friends. It was fun to have the husbands come along this time. We went to a new place and celebrated Margi’s 70th bday.

Mary, are you going to do karaoke anymore? I haven't heard you talk about it for a long time. Do you miss it? Yes Mary, what’s you’re weather been like this weekend. We are getting colder with rain for a couple of days tomorrow.

Barb, I'm still peddling to deliver your food!

sacBarb said...

Dianne, I guess I shouldn’t text more than one person at a time. I can’t keep them straight. Chad was smoking pork butts to make pulled pork for dinner, but I needed something to feed him the girls for lunch. Chad had just left for the store and he texted me and you had just texted me back about the iPhone covers, too. I forgot to change back to Chad. You were so funny when you said it was kinda far to deliver. I really need to pay more attention when texting.
When it the reunion? I bet you’ll have a good time and you may be sorry you didn’t join the girls. I graduated in 1960 and we haven’t had a reunion since the 50th. Maybe they’ll do one next year.

sacBarb said...

Mary, It’s good you figured out quickly that the new medication was causing your sinus problems. That can really be annoying.
I do enjoy making greeting cards with the Jennifers. One of them retired in December, so we have gone to a couple movies on work days and the other Jennifer can’t join us. She has about 13 more years to work. We call her ‘the baby.’ We are going to start our Christmas cards in July, hopefully.

sacBarb said...

J/L, The Bachelorette was good tonight. At least she got rid of one of the creepy guys. Maybe next week she’ll get rid of Luke P.
Chad has been power washing everything outside. He started with the driveway, then he did the block wall and today he did all the cement outside the family room. I didn’t realize how dirty it was until he washed it, plus it had moss on it. It’s really looking good. He just has a little more to do in the backyard. Hopefully we (or he) can keep it up and it won’t get so bad again.

Mary/MI said...

Hi gals! I have been spending a lot of time outside. I have done a ton of weeding. I can't believe how much I let it all go! With all the rain we have been having, at least the weeds pull out easily.
Sunday I did our annual VFW military dedications at two cemeteries and memorial park in town. We are always joined by the American Legion color guard, and their men & woman auxiliaries. There are about 60 of us. There is a ceremony, with the gun salute and taps with the echo. Always touching. The weather cooperated :)

Mary/MI said...

Dianne,I was asked to do the Karaoke contest after the parade again. I declined. Jim is not much help anymore. I do miss it. I don't advertise, but will do private shows if asked. Inside jobs are a bit easier.
Our weather was warm and windy. It did rain later at night.

Mary/MI said...

Barb, I got a kick out of your delivery text! It reminded me of what I did a week ago. I meant to write "you are sweet" to Dianne on a pic she showed, and I accidentally wrote it on another "Diana", who is not so sweet! She was surprised I said that if that tells you anything lol! I didn't have the heart to tell her it was a mistake!
Since I quit taking the newer eye drops, my sinuses are so much better! I still have some , but not nearly as bad as before!!

Just_Lin, Thank goodness they didn't dilate my eyes! It was just a check up on my eye pressure.
I have n ever watched Blackish. I have to check it out. There are so many new show out there, it's hard to keep up with them! I usually watch stuff like AMI,The Voice, America's got talent, etc. I love "Bull", and Hawaii 5-O. I love the new Magnum P I, but it hasn't been on lately :(

We were supposed to get some terrible weather last night, but it stayed south of us and caused a lot of damage there.
Today it is damp and cold. Perfect too pull weeds lol.
13 more days before Vegas and warm weather!!
