A Cat's Heaven

by Dianne

A cat dies and goes to heaven. God meets him at the gate and says,"You've been a good cat all these years. Anything you desire, all you have to do is ask."

The cat says, "Well, I lived all my life with a poor family on a farm and had to sleep on hardwood floors."

God says, "Say no more." And instantly, a fluffy pillow appears.

A few days later, 6 mice are killed in a tragic accident and they go to Heaven. God meets them at the gate with the same offer He made the cat.

The mice said, "All our life we've had to run. We've been chased by cats, dogs, and even women with brooms. If we could only have a pair of
roller skates, we wouldn't have to run any more."

God says, "Say no more." And instantly, each mouse is fitted with a beautiful pair of tiny roller skates.

About a week later, God decides to check and see how the cat is doing. The cat is sound asleep on his new pillow. God gently nudges him awake and asks, "How are you doing? Are you happy here?"

The cat yawns and stretches and says, "Oh, I've never been happier in my life. And those meals on wheels you've been sending over are the best."

Dianne, That literally made me LOL. In fact I woke my sleeping cat who was on my lap. She looked at me like “Bitch, I was peacefully 💤 and you rudely awakened me.” She went right back to sleep, tho.
I am just checking in. Things are still boring here, but I don’t mind boring. It’s better than drama! I hope you are all having a nice Labor Day Weekend. We are just hanging out at home.

Barb Well, nothing happening here today, that's for sure. I got up early so I could see my daughter off so that's kind of a downer. At least she is going to stay overnight at a place along the way rather than drive it all in one day like she did coming down here. It was nice to have her around and I think Ursula liked having the company of her dogs, too. Also, my daughter took them out for lots of walks. My dog is very much a pack animal and if they were all in my daughter's room, then she was in that room, too. I'm not sure if her need to be in the room was instinctual or if it's learned behavior from going on the walks with the dog walker and whatever pack she has with her that day. Funny thing happened a few nights ago. My daughter returned from attending a friend's party and the dogs and I were all out front as I was helping her bring extra food stuff home from the party. We got in and were putting stuff away, etc., and I was asking about the party. A minute or so passed and I got a knock on the door and when I opened it, Ursula walked in. The knock came from my neighbor who said Ursula was looking very dejected being locked out by herself.

LOL at you disturbing your cat with your laughing.

Mary OMG! That was quite an adventure you had getting to your hotel in Vegas. First of all, I would have been totally stressing out about even making it to the airport on time. I'd much rather be there extra early and waste time at the airport that fret about missing my flight. Oh, and then when you couldn't find your driver license! Thank goodness it was still where you left it. Did you have a drink on the plane? You deserved one regardless of what time of day it was. It sounds like that taxi ride really sucked. You've been to Vegas so often that you could probably drive between airport and hotel in your sleep. I'm glad Jim felt better later on. I probably would have felt sick like him from the heat.

Your story in the airport about Jim going on while you were being detained reminded me of experiences I had with my second husband, Jim. He was 6'4" so his stride was longer than mine and I remember times when he was getting farther and farther ahead of me, oblivious to the fact that I wasn't right behind him. This seemed to especially happen in airports. At least his height helped me keep an eye on where he was regardless of the crowds.

Dianne Thanks for the funny blog. That made for a good visual image.

How's your back doing? Did the shot in your back help? Yay for them being able to get the needle in your vein the first try.

I haven't been to the movies in quite a while. My daughter and her BFF when to see the Tarantino film starring Brad and Leonardo. She was not very impressed. She said it had no plot and went on way too long. I have friends that saw the dog movie and they really liked it, too. I tend to avoid animal movies as it seems they always do something to make you cry.

I'd say most of my days are boring, although I don't feel bored. You have a much more active social life with friends than I do. It seems you are always meeting someone for lunch or dinner. I enjoy eating lunch alone with a good book and I sometimes do that at a little local coffee shop. I'm not doing it quite as often as I used to because I'm trying not to spend so much money eating out.

JustLin, I got a big chuckle from your leaving Ursula outside and looking dejected. Poor baby1 I have done that with Zoie on the patio. I look all over for her , then look out the sliding door and see her looking like "wth" lol! If she is not right under my feet I search for her, so she wasn't out there too long.
Yes, I did have a drink on the plane lol!

Dianne, Do I have to come looking for you? Blog was cute :)

Barb, I agree, sometimes "boring" is good, and it "don't cost a thing". :)
We are having a quiet week end here too. Lots of sleeping and eating going on lol.

Max was here Fri. Jim made him dig up his own basil. I am sure it pooped him out. We knew he was coming so we ordered early pizza. About 7pm he asked Jim if we had already eaten. Yup, sorry! He called the day before to announce he was coming. He said he would call when he was in the area. He showed up at 6:00 without calling. He did leave fairly early, for him, 10:30.
Jim looks foreword to watching his first Michigan State football game. I guess Max wanted to watch it with him. Of course he talked all through it.

While I was in Vegas I got a call from my salon. She said my hairdresser is no longer working there! She wanted to know if I wanted to reschedule my Sept appointment. I was totally caught off guard! I told her where I was and would call if I wanted to reschedule.. I have been hearing a lot of good things about a salon closer to me. I called and was able to make an appt. I sure hope it works out!

Where is that Dianne the nudger? Mary, you don't have to come find me... I’ve surfaced. Hi all...not a whole lot here either. We went to Greeley (out of town) for a bbq at my uncles labor day. We made it outside for about a half an hour as it was 100 degrees. We ended up sitting around the dining room table for the afternoon. Barb and I went to see The Farewell Saturday but it wasn’t great. I’m looking forward to when the movie Judy comes out all about Judy garland. They say Renee Zellweger will probably be up for best actress for the movie. Today we took a trip to the Coach outlet. I was looking for a smaller purse and found one..of course. We then ran some errands and ended up at AAA Travel and booked another cruise to Hawaii in feb. It was Louis’s idea this time so of course I will figure it out. I’m excited.

Barb, funny waking up your kitty. I’m allergic and scared of cats. My uncle always puts his two in a room when we visit. Well, yesterday one got out. I saw it walking around and they said it wouldn’t bother us as it’s afraid of people...we had that in common. Nope, it came right over by me and when I stood up from fear it jumped right on my chair! They seemed to think it was funny but not when your scared. Luckily, it was time to leave.

JL, glad your daughter was able to come visit you. I do try to keep busy or i get depressed being home. I’m very irritated right now. One of Louis’s daughters just bought her first condo and needed money for a computer. We helped her out as it was for work. Well, Louis asked her about it yesterday and she decided to take a class and used it for tuition as she missed the deadline where her job would have paid for it. I feel she should have asked us before she changed the use of the money. Louis was not happy either and called her tonight to express his feelings....he didn’t...he simply asked about it. I was the one that said we feel like you should have asked us first. She got snippy when I said that so I just left the room. Things have been very quiet in this house tonight. once Again I was the bad guy! That was my vent for the night.

Mary, your taxi trips sounded horrible. I’m like JL.. I need to be at airport very early. you’d better be careful or Max will be moving soon in with you. That would’ve been cozy. Does he cook? What’s he going to do with his herbs? Ohh hard is change hairdressers. I changed a couple of years ago.

JL.part two.....my back is still hurts go back to fat next eeek

Hello....Well, I hate to monopolize the blog but no one has written for five days so guess I will...what’s new everyone? Not much here ...had lunch with barb today and tmrw she’s making enchiladas and bringing them over for us....nice! She makes them great. She loves to cook so I buy the ingredients and she makes things from time to time for us. Louis here watching football all weekend. I watched some this afternoon. Big Raider Bronco game Monday night.

I’ve been working on vacation hotel plans for our November trips. I already had the reservations but changed a couple and became totally confused double booking on same day. It was a mess but all straight now.

JL....my previous comment was my back still hurts and I go back to dr next week. No, I wasn’t drinking and typing! Looks like it.

Well...just wanted to say hi to you all. Don’t make me come nudging.

Hello ladies. My life is crazy! Either nothing is happening or everything is happening! I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I last posted.
I’ve been checking on Sharon since she had that fall because even tho her SO is helping her, I don’t trust him to help her with ‘girly’ things and she doesn’t like to ‘bother’ him. I really think she is just too embarrassed to ask him. Anyway, Kaiser scheduled a brain scan for her because all the other neurological tests haven’t shown any cause for her fall and lack of memory of the whole incident. The scan process was a whole day thing because the prep started at 10:00 am with her drinking some stuff, waiting an hour, then getting a radioactive shot at 11:00am, then the actual scan at 2:00 pm, which took 1 1/2 hours. We left after the shot and went to Panera for lunch and her SO came to pick her when the scan was over. I told her I was happy to be there with her, but I wondered why Paul wasn’t there. She said he is ‘not good’ at just waiting around, so she didn’t ask him. In my opinion, she shouldn’t have had to ask him. He should have volunteered! Anyway... she got the results of the scan and it shows no signs of Parkinson’s, which is what they thought might be the cause. So, I don’t know what’s next for her.
Thursday, my sister-in-law (Vickey) and my Hubby’s Cousin (Debbie) converged on my house so we could all go to another cousin’s wedding on Saturday in Placerville, which is about 45 minutes east of Sac. The wedding was outside and it was a beautiful day. The family was worried because Friday it was 100 and the wedding rehearsal was brutal. Saturday it was 80 and a there was a slight breeze. The bride’s grandfather (Uncle Denny) is Bob’s Mother’s last living sibling out of 12. He will be 91 on December 1st. He has recently been diagnosed with dementia. Debbie’s Mom (Denny’s sister) passed away in January 2018 after suffering with dementia for about 15 years. Uncle Denny did pretty well, but he got a little confused during the ceremony and asked ‘who are those people?’ It’s so sad. Anyway, all the company is gone and it’s quiet again.
Chad cooked another big tri tip meal like the picture I posted on FB, for Friday night. It was delish and the girls loved it. By the way, they had a taco bar at the wedding and it was pretty good. The bride’s family did everything themselves. They had three large hot plates where they warmed small tortillas and as we passed they put them on our plates, then we filled them with carne asada, chicken, and/or all the additional stuff that usually goes in tacos. The bride’s Mom made the cake, plus they had a huge variety of other fancy desserts in small decorated plastic containers. She even made macarons which were very good. I chose to try them instead of cake.

So sorry for the novel I wrote. Didn’t mean to take up the whole blog! 🙀

Oh, by the way, Dianne, I don’t know Alan Humphreys is, but FB suggested I may want to friend him. He probably wouldn’t accept, but I just want to say, he is a hottie! 😸

J/L, This is the last week for Paradise. DWTS starts next Monday. Can’t wait to see Sean Spicer - NOT! Debbie and I were talking about Melissa McCarthy doing the SNL bit of when he was press secretary and Vickey had never seen it, so we watched it again and it is still funny.

Mary, I hate changing hair stylists. I hope you like the closer salon. I worry about having to find a new manicurist if Sheenah retires. She turned 65 last December and she hasn’t mentioned retiring, but at some point I’m sure it will happen. Maybe I ‘ll just quit having them done!

Mary/MI said...

SacBarb. My hair stylist looked a bit older than me. She did a great job matching my color. Not to swift on the styling. I told her I just use the round brush and pull the curl out a bit. Well all she did was "pull the curl" , and I pretty much left with straight hair LOL. Most of the stylists I saw were over 60ish.
I only get my nails done now, when I am going on a trip or some big occasion.
I will always get a pedi. Can't reach my toes anymore lol!!

Dianne. I will be watching your Broncs tonight. Hope it's a better game ten the Lions. Who "ties" in football especially after having a big lead most of the game!!

JustLin, Your hubby was tall! Jim is 6' to my now 4'7".
I know my height because I had my yearly physical today. My BP & glucose were a bit high, but manageable. I need to cut back on carbs * salt. I have been pouring the saly on my garden cukes & tomatoes....yummy lol!
I was so happy, but surprised to hear that pap test are not being done anymore. Thank goodness! I don't have to go back to Dr for a year :). I'm not sure who my Dr is anymore. He suddenly retired. Most offices here, are now using Nurse practitioners/Dr assist.

Jim & I road with my sister and Bro-in law to Lilly Park in Illinois. My brother traveled from New Mex. to meet all of his kids, sibs, and Grand, Gr grand kids. It was a beautiful day. It was good seeing him. We were celebrating his 75th birthday. He is the same age as Jim now. I will feel so young, until I turn 72 in Dec lol!
My BIL, took a wrong turn somewhere and we wound up going west toward Chicago instead of straight north. It added an extra hour to the trip. We were parked at Sis Lena's house in Kalamazoo. Well, by then it was dark. We were not that far from the freeway, but still managed to get lost and confused! It is a very tricky area. Who the hell puts 2 round-a-bouts to get on & off of the freeway? We made it home safe and sound :)

SacBarb,here is my novel lol!!

Dianne I thought you might be coming to nudge Barb and I today but it looks like that won't be necessary, after all.

I must say, I am not happy about the Raiders/Bronco game being televised tonight because it will cause my guilty pleasure (Bachelor in Paradise) to not be aired until 1:00 a.m. Fortunately, I can record it and watch it tomorrow. I'm really not into football much since my husband passed away. We used to like to watch the 49er games together, especially on Sundays. We'd have special snacks and make a thing out of it. I have never followed the Raiders.

I sympathize with your fear of cats, especially since you are allergic to them, but I really don't understand it. I don't see anything at all scary about cats. I have had cats all my life and have never had one do anything bad to me. I will amend that to say that I have caught wild cats and did end up with a scratch or two, during the capture but that was my doing. No cat ever charged me to bite me. If anything, I'd think dogs would be scarier. At one time, I had 40 cats. That would be your nightmare. In high school, I once had a boyfriend that was afraid of cats so, of course, our cat would make a bee line for him when he came to the house. He was probably relieved when I broke up with him. LOL

I bet the movie about Judy Garland will be good. I was really into the show "Downton Abbey" and I see there is now going to be a movie with all those characters. I'm looking forward to that.

Mary When I first read your comment, I thought you wrote that you had been pouring salt on your garden cakes and I was trying to figure out what garden cakes were. LOL I am jealous of your homegrown tomatoes! Hey, do you ever snip a little bit of Max's basil to use for yourself? When my daughter was here, I bought a bunch of cilantro that was to be used as garnish on a chicken dish I was making and then I forgot to use it. I guess I'm not in the habit of garnishing dishes.

Yes, my husband was very tall and with his shaved head, he was easy to recognize and spot in a crowd. We were in San Diego, leaving a restaurant and someone entering at the same time, stopped and asked, "Are you Lt. Scales from Belmont?" Another time, the same thing happened on a beach. Another time we were in a pedi-cab in Hawaii when the driver turned around and asked if he was Lt. Scales from Belmont. Those are just the times I was with him. It happened a lot more than that. For one thing, he was the spokesperson with the media whenever anything was going on so people saw him on TV occasionally.

I depend a lot on my phone for audible directions when going anywhere that I am unfamiliar with. I love it!

Just_Lin said...

Barb Well, you have certainly been busy. I hope Sharon is doing okay and that they find some answers for her soon.

I'm glad the weather was more reasonable for the wedding you attended. The food sounded very good and I'm sure they saved a ton of money by doing all that stuff themselves. Speaking of food, I had a hamburger and side of fruit for lunch and now I have no idea what to have for dinner. I am so uninspired. It's lucky for you that you have another person in the house who likes to cook. My husband liked to cook and I miss that.

My life is pretty boring. I watched "Rocketman" ON Demand the other night and really enjoyed it. I also watched "Leaving Neverland" on Amazon Prime and it was very compelling and disturbing. I was really hoping not to believe Michael Jackson did those things but I am now convinced that he did. It's sad.
