The Dating Game
The Dating Game
by Just_Lin
When Custard and I have met in our hometown, we have stayed at his friend John's house. John was also in our class in high school and has done quite well for himself. He has a large house, a mini mansion really, with a pool and a lovely view. The thing about John is that he tends to date bimbos.
It's kind of a joke with Custard and I. When discussing our plans we will say things like, "We'll be having dinner Friday night with John and one of his bimbos". The first bimbo we had dinner with had such a puffed out upper lip that she looked like one of the Simpsons from the side. Custard told me once, when he was out with John and one of his bimbos, he was having alot of trouble understanding her and felt sorry for her because she had a terrible speech impediment. It turns out she had just had too much collegan shot into her lips and couldn't make them work properly.
Most of John's bimbos seem to be "actresses" or "wannabe actresses". They are, for the most part, less than half his age and blonde. I don't mean to be unkind. They all seem to be nice enough, some smarter than others, some more shallow than others. They all seem a little sad and desperate to me. None of them know John's true age as it just isn't discussed. Why do they go out with him? I'm sure money has something to do with it because he has a couple of Escalades and takes them to very nice places. He is also very much a gentleman and treats them with respect. He has a way of acting as if everything they say is of utmost interest to him. He is an excellent listener.
These young women are altering their looks to try and be acceptable according to Hollywood standards. Unfortunately, it just makes them interchangeable. John is a nice looking man and they probably assume he is 10 years younger than he really is. He doesn't reveal his age because he wants to be acceptable dating material for these young things.
While I was there on this last trip, John was propositioned via text message by a young woman with a daughter who wanted to know if he was interested in an "arrangement". For a $9,000 monthly allowance, she would spend two nights a week with him plus go on vacations, etc. with him. After he shared the message with us, the three of us stood around like WTC? He has so many women dating him now, there is absolutely no need to pay big bucks for female companionship. Not to mention, she'd have to be really spectacular to be worth that kind of money. He turned her down in a very nice, gentlemanly way so they can remain friendly.
John used to be married and has two college age sons and a step-daughter. He and his wife divorced 7-8 years ago. After their divorce, he found out that she had been having an affair with her high school sweetheart for a year. The divorce really devastated John as he thought they were soul mates. So now he dates bimbos and keeps himself safe from entering into a serious relationship

Wake up everyone !
I'm awake! Morning Want!
#@#^~! Computer crashed on me though in the middle of reading the blog!
J/L: That is too bad about Custard's friend. I think he is living out every man's fantasy. But is he really happy? It sure doesn't sound like it.
Maybe it is a good thing that I am not skinny, so I don't meet men like that who don't want any serious relationship. I want someone to like me for "me" not for my appearance. I hope there is someone out there who will appreciate who I am and what I have to offer. However, I don't think anyone will ever see past my appearance to every find out!
...sigh....
BTW, I love the silly spoof of the dating game! Thanks for the chuckle!
OK...Want, did you scream for everyone to wake up so you could go back to sleep?!
OK...I have to march to 10 (that's my favorite "even" number)!
6....

TEN!!!
Good Morning Jennifer.
Morning Owls,
Congrats on first Jennifer!
J/L-Wow, that is actually sad on two levels. The first being those poor women that seem to be trying so hard to make themselves fit into some preconceived notion of what they are supposed to look like, and also for John, who must be rather lonely inside.
Good Morning want2sleep
We are going to have to make dates to meet in the nest. Otherwise some little owl, sometimes me, sits here playing and talking to herself.
Good Morning Scirish - I am not going to read the blog.
Morning Pink Tink!
15
I don't know what I can add to what Jennifer and Scirish already said. They all sound unhappy to me - searching for something. I will have to think about this one for a while.
Jennifer - There is someone out there worthy of you. The day is coming soon. I am sure of that.
I will be back after reading my messages and feeding my 'babies'. It's rather nice to have the house to myself this morning. Yesterday, my visitor went to Tofino to see Long Beach. She will be back this afternoon. I am enjoying her company but I am so used to having the house to myself now.
Jennifer - I forgot to say "Congratulations on First".
Good Morning Owls!
I started to watch "The Dating Game" video but realized I don't have time to finish it before my first client arrives so I'll be back later for that.
Tinka: I think you summed it up perfectly when you said, "They all sound unhappy to me."
Waving HI to Jennifer, Want2, Scirish!
From yesterday's comments...
Carol and Mo: Thank you!
Happy Saturday, Owls!
Good Morning Amicus - It's a half day for you today isn't it?
I forgot to say the video was great. I will be back when the nest fills up.
Morning Glories!
Jennifer got first! Twirl skip and hop!
Well Just Lin: I read your blog twice and I am at a loss for words. Well you know that is not true. I have plenty of words but well they might get me kicked out of the nest and I try not to insult other peoples friends.
Sad yes about all of them.
The only comment I will share is that Mr. Lynn D would expect more than 2 nights a week for $9,000 a month!
Yikes if that is what money does glad I am realitivly poor.
Ok enought said! Will be back in a bit.
Good Morning Feathered Friends!
Damn, I woke up hearing someone shouting "WAKE UP EVERYONE"!
WANT...good morning to you, too!
JENNIFER...congrats on 1st!! I am with TINKA, there is someone worthy of YOU out there...when you least expect it, expect it!
TINKA...enjoy your time before your visitor returns. I am the same way, I love having compnay but hit the point when I can't wait for them to leave! Then I miss the heck outta them when they are gone! Go figure!
From yesterday...
TINA...my heart goes out to your family and Sean's family. Such a tragedy...makes me ask why. I so applaud you and your family always remembering to tell each other you love them...too often it isn't said.
JUST LIN...great blog. It is sad that John was so hurt that he is filling his life and time with such superficial dates. It is sad that so many young women feel the need to alter themselves to such a point that they can't even speak properly. I bet that most were far more beautiful before their procedures. And the mother pimping out her daughter???? WTF??????
I am so glad you and Custard found each other again...goes to show it is the heart and the soul of the person that allows a real friend or lover to see the true beauty in each other. And you and Custard are a gorgeous couple. Now wipe that stuff off your top lip!!!!!
SCIRISH...good morning! Hope your day is lovely!
AMICUS...I am still thinking about your post from yesterday. {{hugs}} to you.
I have to go to work soon...I don't wanna!! See y'all tonight.
LYNN...you posted while I was typing! Good Morning my dear!
All I can say is that if a dollar value was to be placed on people...you are priceless. $9000 a week or day or minute doesn't even compare to YOUR value.
SHIRLEY....FEED ME! I am starving! Don't ya hate it when you wake up hungry!!
Mo: I am going to print that out and tape it to Mr. Lynn D's computer!
(((Hugs))) at you don't work to hard! I miss you my friend.
Happy Saturday!!
Good Morning,,
jennifer - congrats on FIRST... thru ten (with the exception of SECOND!! LOL)
Want - I'm awake!!!
Tinka, Scirish, Amicus, Lynn D, and Mo - TOP of the Morning to you all!!!
Tina - How tragic - I am so sorry to hear about your son's friend. I'm telling ya - you NEVER know when that lottery wheel in the sky is going to land on your number!!
Just Lin - Custard's friend sounds like the men sitting in front of us at the Carrie Underwood concert - how sad!! I just don't get it!!
I need to go find something to work on at the crop, since I watched a movie instead of getting ready for me day!!
We are in for another hot one!! I think 111 is supposed to be the high!!
I hope everyone has an excellent day - I'll check back in later!!
Hugs to you all - cuz, you just never know!!!
:-)
Good Morning Everyone!
Jennifer, Congrat's on First!
Tink, You blog was Beautiful!
I'm getting caught up (hopefully).
My comp was out of commission yesterday.
Mo, Love your pic! Wish mine had turned out as good as your's did.
Tina, I just read your post from last night. I'm so Sorry about your sons' friend, Sean!
Carol, I hope you got some sleep.
((((((((HUGS)))))))))
To Everyone for sharing your stories and feelings yesterday.
I'm going to take my walk now. So, I'll watch the video when I get done.
p.s. Have I told you lately..How Amazing I think ALL of you are!???
Wellllll, YOU ARE!!!!
xoxoxoxo
Good Morning Lynn - LOL@ "more than 2 nights a week for $9000."
Good Morning Maureen - Yes I know the house will seem empty when she leaves next week. It always does when the visitors leave for good. Then I get used to the quiet again. Tango loves her but Tia keeps giving her the strangest looks.
From area 51.
Tina - Thank you for the kind words about my blog. I am so sorry to hear about the death of one of your son's friends. So many teenagers do risky things like climbing roofs. It's a wonder there are not more deaths. I think guardian angels are kept very busy with the young.
Maureen - Thank you also for your kind words. I appreciate it very much.
Good Morning Mek and Birdee - We all must have been in area 51 at the same time. Funny, I didn't see either of you.
Birdee - Thank you for saying my blog was beautiful. I am now putting the story way back in my subconscious mind where it belongs.
30
BIRDEE...can I just say your avatar scares the crap outta me! I don't know if I can ever eat chicken again...unitl dinner tonight!!
MEK...good morning! Don't be out in that heat too long. Enjoy your crop.
Thanks to everyone for the comments on my grad pic! I hope none of you thought I was making fun of the game, because I truly wasn't. I love seeing all the pics and seeing the nest is as outwardly beautiful as it is inwardly. I jst don't have access to my real pic and I sent it to Carol as a joke...never thinking she would really post it!! I did graduate magna soooey laude from the sty!
Really gotta finish getting ready for the hell hole!
Oh, and LYNN...I think Mr. Lynn knows your worth ;)
If not, he would have been removing fake birkenstocks from his ass for a long time already!!
Good Morning Tink, Scirish, Amicus, Lynn D, MO, MEK, and Birdee! (I decided to go back to sleep, but the fur babies didn't allow it for too long)!
Thanks you Tink and Mo for saying that my man is out there somewhere. I am just not a patient person! LOL!
MO: I agree that Birdee's avatar is a bit creepy! WTF?! I thought your picture was great! LOL! I don't think anyone took offense!
Tina: I am so sorry to hear about your son's friend. (((HUGS)))!!!
Well, since Shirley hasn't fed us, I suppose I need to scrounge around the kitchen and get my own breakfast! ; )
BBL!
34...OK...now I'm off...!
That was sooooooo funnnnnnny!
Flying through again!
Tina I just read your post from yesterday. That was so sad and tragic! Sending hugs to you and your family.
Iteach: I think your son may have a talent for writing code! :)
I have to show Mr. Iteach that youtube clip!
Interesting blog today JL.
Before Mr. Iteach, my poor dad was always frustrated with the men that I dated.
It drove him nuts.
He said that they were all underdogs.
I certainly had a pattern just like your friend does right now.
I'm so glad that I broke the pattern.
Thanks for the quote of the day!
As I was be-bopping around the house I happened to think how sad it was that John felt that he has to be a "bimbee" as:
"He doesn't reveal his age because he wants to be acceptable dating material for these young things."
I really wish that getting older was considered with the respect other cultures have for it. Experience and (hopefully) wisdom should count for something.
Ok...now I need to go put my anti-wrinkle cream on!!! :)
Flying through again!
I forgot to say Birdee why do you look like you have been marinated in Kool-aid? LOL
Good morning!
Tina I'm so sorry for your son's friend. How tragic.
Gotta fly, have a great day!
Mo....Are you kidding? The grad pic was hilarious! I just didn't want to change my guess after everyone pointed out the obvious!
I will have to go back to yesterday and search for Tina's post. I seem to have missed it.
Just_Lin.....I'm going to say what other people are thinking....I think....OK....maybe I'm just thinking this....Anyway, sounds like John may already be paying for his dates, and I'm not talking dinner and drinks. To get a message like the one he showed you he would already have to be paying for his dates. People don't send stuff like that to just anyone. The Escort business is a very private secretive world. They have to be because unless you are in Nevada, it's illegal. Do I care if a man, or a woman, pays to have a date with someone? Nope. None of my business. They can spend their money on whatever they want. I never could understand why selling yourself for sex was against the law. If someone wants to sell "service" so someone else, why should we care? I think it's all about religion. Why else would anyone have a problem with it? Your not hurting anyone, well unless they pay extra for it!
*****CORRECTION********
The mother was NOT pimping out her daughter. The young woman who wanted the "allowance" happens to have a 7 yr old daughter.
Oh Tina....I'm so sorry that your son lost a friend. My thoughts go out to your family and to Sean's family. So very sad.
just_lin...that's how i read it, but i had to read that line twice just to make sure because the first time i was like wth??? but then i understood what you had said. i would love to be a fly on the wall the next time you have dinner with john! just to see who he was with the next time~
Jennifer - Great minds think alike. I crawled back into bed too and had a two hour sleep. My puppies woke me up too. Now I am lost because I won't need my afternoon nap. I guess I will have to fill the time with work. Ugh!.
Wow... interesting tale, J/L! I hope John finds what he's looking for.
SacBarb, I'm still musing over your observation yesterday! Good point... if God knows that an individual is going to exercise free will and not follow "the plan", then did it ever exist in the first place? What status does it have?
My brain hurts! LOL!
No, I mean literally. We went to our first legal gay wedding reception last night, and I drank a little too much wine! :)
Tinkatia: Get to work!
To be fair, I have seen John with two dates that were not bimbos. For one thing, they were both brunettes and not in the entertainment business. One was in her early 40's and a politician (John was mayor of our hometown for two terms and is still on some commission) the other was in her late 20's and a dental hygienist.
Don't get the wrong impression. John is a very nice person, funny, intelligent and generous. He was absolutely devastated by his ex's unfaithfulness. This is just what he does now to have pleasant evenings with no worries of getting hurt.
Tina, I'm so sorry about your son's friend. How terribly tragic for his family.
Just_Lin, I'm so glad YOU found love with Custard!! That's all I kept thinking about while reading your blog. I'm so happy for you!
Moweenie, have I told you that you just always make me laugh? You're just funny! I always look forward to reading what you wrote!
Tinka, I think it's nice to have company and it's nice when they leave, too! I'm glad you had a nice time with your visitor.

poo, I missed it
Barbara - The escort business is not illegal here in this city. We have three pages of ads in our phone book. Prostitution is illegal but the escort businesses claim there is no 'hanky-panky'. I just looked it up and interestingly enough two of them are called
"Seduction Unlimited" and "Sweet Dreams". Come to think of it, maybe prostitution isn't illegal here. I never really thought about it before.
I had a friend whose children I taught quite a few years ago. She and her husband were well respected members of that school community and served as President and Secretary of the P.T.A. A few of us would go to lunch every second Saturday. She was always well dressed even though neither of them had jobs. We used to find it strange that her beeper would go off a few times every time we met and she would have to excuse herself to use the phone. I later found out she worked for an escort service. I think in a lot of cases it is more a matter of having a date to a function rather than for other reasons, if you get my drift without my spelling out that three letter word. This friend kept all her family very comfortable. It's not my idea of a good job but I guess 'whatever rocks your boat".

Barbwa I'm quite sure John does not need to pay for his dates. He takes them to the right places where they can be "seen". He is a perfect gentleman and treats them with kindness and respect. He's nice looking and intelligent. The young lady who propositioned him had already told him how she was near eviction and her business had not taken off the way she had hoped. He made no offers to help her financially and that's when she made her "allowance" proposition. She's an amateur.
Whabbear - I am getting to work as fast as I can leave this computer. I think I am super glued to the seat. You are going to give yourself an aneurism trying to figure out the how's and why's of our existence. That's why it's easier for us non-scientific individuals who take a lot on faith and don't try to "figure it out". We were taught we will all have the answers someday, somewhere.
By the way what should I wear to your wedding? I just read about one movie star who asked everyone to wear pink. Now that's my kind of wedding. Love you. Tink

From Area 51:
Tina I'm so sorry to hear about your son's friend. What a senseless tragedy! In my family we always part with "I love you" whether it's in person or on the phone. (((HUGS))) to you and your son.

John sounds like a nice guy and I hope some day that he realizes that not all wives cheat. His money will draw in young women but I hope some day before he's too old that he seeks out a soulmate. When I was a caterer I was around wealthy men. One of them was married to a lovely woman and they had little twin girls. He paid for his mistress's apartment. I never understood why men pay for women's company and why they don't seek true love or put all of their effort building a solid foundation with the mother of their children. A friend of ours dates younger women only and his requirement is that they must have long dark hair and milky colored skin. I asked why. His explanation was that men visualize and prefer beauty above all else. I don't think all men think that way. It's too bad for the ones who do. I would hate to think that a man asks me out to date my hair!
Women are from Venus and men are from Mars so the book says.:0)
Oh dear God, I just noticed that Jax did get hold of Birdie and plucked her feathers and tried to boil her alive.(Whispering now).. Birdie I told you to stay in my witness protection program until I got Jax under control. Bawahaha!
Good Morning to all.....I would just like to make a couple of comments from yesterday's blog.
TINK: Your story touched me. Thank you for sharing it with all of us.
There were so many posts yesterday that just made me think of life as it is sometimes. AMICUS: I am so glad you found out what you did although, I can't imagine the anguish it caused you.
Each one of you that told a story from your life and let us know more about you....thank you.
ITEACH: Here is the news..I understood every word your son said so please tell him that I so agree with him!!! :)
TINA: I am very sorry about your loss. I know how hard it is to suffer such a loss of a friend but I remember watching my kids go through these things in school. It is so hard to watch our child grieve as well. Hugs to all of you.
Jennifer - Great marching. That mini nap must have done you some good.
I just watched the video again. Just-Lin - It was hilarious. How many days left now Lin?
Well Shirley didn't bring me my Slim Sast today so I guess I will mix my own this morning.
Jodi and Zona and VIG - It was great talking to all three of you on the phone yesterday. I felt pretty special.
Have a great day everyone. See you all when the new picture goes up. I think Tina spoiled her record when she didn't recognize Maureen. I was going to give you a trophy too Tina. That's a shame.

I was just leaving when I saw Dianne fly in. Good Morning Sweetie. How are you feeling now? Thank you for the kind words about my blog and all the other comments. A lot of us had to dig deep for them. This place is better than therapy.
I am interested in how you learned Iteach's son's language. Would you teach me please? I have always wanted to to multi-lingual.
Today is a beautiful day in Colorado...a nice 76 but may get warmer. It is my niece's graduation from the Police Academy party today at my son's house. We will go later and I will be able to sit without the damn oxygen. I am still "supposed" to be puffing away on that stuff but I have found sitting works fine with my own breathing. I go to the lung doctor on Tuesday and hopefully, get back to normal. I am still very frustrated with how tired I am from doing nothing BUT I am following the rules and doing nothing and still sleeping way too much and going stir crazy!!
I don't get on the computer much yet but I love reading all your posts each day. I feel like I am visiting with all of you...even though I am not joining in the conversation (I do in my head with each post)!! I also have loved looking at all the graduation pictures. I knew two of them ....Mo and Jodi!! I am not a good guesser at all.
I hope all of you are having a nice weekend...MEK, hope you are feeling better and you too ZONA.
LOVEY: It was great to hear from you and glad you are okay.
Btw SHIRLEY, Are there any of those gingerbread pancakes left? Yummy!!
Oh gosh....J/L I hope you don't think I was judging John. I didn't mean too. I was just trying to say that people can do whatever they want/need to do. I'm not one to judge. I'm sure that he's a riot to be around or you and custard wouldn't still be his friends.
Ok..I have to tell you all one more thing...I went to my daughter's for awhile last night as it was my granddaughters 8 year old slumber birthday party. She had 11 little girls over for dinner and to watch the kick off of the new Jonas Bros Camp Rock show. They had their sleeping bags out, eating popcorn and not a word out of any of them for two hours. I love watching them all interact with each other. I left at bed time and haven't talked to my daughter yet today to see how the night and breakfast went this morning. In the middle of the concert show, a little girl came into the kitchen to my daughter and I and said, "I think I am going to puke"! Tammy (my daughter) gave her a tum and a "throw up bowl" and she was fine the rest of the night!
The other thing that was so different this year at this party is that almost every present my GD received was clothes...no Barbies, no Brat dolls...lots of clothes and flip flops. I am hoping she will wear all of them since her friends picked them out and they were so excited for my GD to open "their" present. It was an enjoyable evening and one of those times that you just feel smiles inside of you!!
Sorry I took up so much of the blog today...can you tell that I am lonely and want to talk???
Dianne/Denver, first, I'm so glad you're doing better and listening to "doctor's orders!"
I, too , watched most of Camp Rock with my 12-year-old daughter. She is GA-GA about the Jonas Brothers. It's so funny to watch her because I remember being the same way about Donny Osmond. She was also on the phone most of the time talking to her friend and reliving every moment of the show.
I think those brothers are pretty cute, myself!
I was just going through my book club stuff and found the list of books we've read since we started and thought I'd tell you readers about a book called:
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Friend by Christopher Moore
It was one of the funniest books I've ever read! Our whole book club loved it and we still talk about it months later. We all come from different religious backgrounds in our club and we all thought it was hilarious. If you're looking for some fun summer reading, check it out.
Barbwa No problem. I didn't think you were judging John. I just didn't want to leave you with the wrong impression. He told me that he has to keep busy at all times, either business or socially. If he is idle he "starts to think too much". He loved being married and having a family. I think he is just keeping himself occupied with pleasant evenings with good looking women who are not looking for love either. They are looking to make their careers. It's all quite safe for John as he knows none of these dates are "the one".
Sandie Thanks for the book recommendation. It sounds great!
Dianne So glad you are starting to do better and are getting out more. It sounds like you had a very nice evening with your daughter and granddaughter. Aren't little girls fun? In my day it was Elvis that we were swooning over.
amicus....you work as a groomer right? I finally had to take my kitties down to the vet and pay to have their claws trimmed. I have been trying to do it and they were just not cooperating! So I called my vet and asked if they trim nails. They did. So I ran them down there, paid the $8.50 per cat and now it's done. Easy as that. They did not fuss, they did not hiss, they did not growl. Which is all the things they do to me when I try to do it. Little buggers.
J/L....I think I'm just jealous of him ;-)
Hi, Dianne! Nice to get your update!
Tink in Pink would be fine! LOL! As for us, we're going Hawaiian Casual!!
just_lin...great thought-provoking blog. I have been thinking about it for awhile this morning and I have thought alot about the objectification of women...a commodity to have on the arm and such. But maybe what it all comes down to is chasing away the lonelies. We all do what we have to do to not be alone when we don't want to be and maybe the women in this case are doing that as much as the guy is. Or maybe it really does come down to the money and what he can provide for them. I need to ponder it some more. Thanks for a blog that has me thinking!
Tina...I am so sorry about your son's friend. That is sooo sad! Hope your son is doing okay.
Dianne...so nice to see you back on the blog. Hope you are on the mend and are getting your strength back!
Lovey...hope things are getting better for you. Hugs!
Sandie...just noticed your nice words in Area 51. Thank you so much. Yes, my eyes are wide open and I am looking! Thanks also for suggesting a book you enjoyed to the Owls. I am heading to the bookstore this afternoon and will look for that one as well.
Hi everyone!
Congrats on 1st Jennifer!
Just Lin very interesting blog. Too bad your friend can't find someone more his own age that he is comfortable with so he can have a more meaningful relationship. Then again maybe he likes his life the way it is. What do I know? Lol!
Sorry about breakfast and your slimfast Tinka. I had to go and help my sister make an Ariel cake for a b-day party she is going to this afternoon. I just finished two loads of laundry. It is now almost 5 o'clock and I'm starving. So I am going to get something to eat (haven't eaten since 8 o'clock this morning), take some tylenol for my headache and relax.
Tina I'm sorry to hear about your loss. ((HUGS))
Dianne keep doing what the doctors tell you so you can be 100% again.
I'll be back later. Have a good Saturday!
I found the cutest little baby crib for Carolyn's dolls at a rummage sale today.
It is really old and it had brown wooden spindles. Not that plastic crap that all the toys are now a days.
It was my neat find of the day!
New pic is up, and well amazing, not so sure, One of my fav's, I think so
Hope everyone is having a good day!
I will be back later to catch up!
Is it Roland?
iteach:
LOL....
OMG!!! It's the love child of Whabbear and Joey!!!
iteach......
BWAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAA!!!
I was HOPING that Eunice would submit her picture! LOL!!!
Well, I am off to the store (now that the Russians won)! They are all a bunch of cuties! I just don't get my soccer hasn't caught on here?! (No padding and very "fit" men)!!! WOOHOO!!!
K-bye!
Oh, what the heck....98...

100!!!
oops....should be "why" not "my"!
102...even....
Iteach - It sounds like you found my doll buggy I had to leave behind in Halifax. I wonder how it made its made out here. They don't make them like that anymore.
Whabbear - I know just the pink outfit I will buy to wear for your wedding. It will fit in with your Hawaiian theme. I can't wait.
Dianne - So good to see you talking. You talk as much as you want. We are here to listen.
VIG - Isn't the sunshine wonderful?
I have no idea who the person of the day is. It looks like the picture on Tina's avatar. The only person Carol would insult and say she needs a shave would be herself. Unless it's Joey in a wig.

Heading back to my hammock. This is a real summer day here finally.
Hi owls! Thank you for all the readfing material here!
Tina, I am so sorry about your son's friend. Such a tragic accident.
just_lin, enjoyed the video. It is sad that so much emphasis is put on looks, but that is the way it is. I think, for now, that is the way your friend is handling his feelings. With friends like you guys he will overcome his resentment and not see women as objects, maybe.

Hi kids! We had a surprise thundershower here early this morning. SO refreshing, but it knocked out my broadband internet for several hours, so I'm playing catch-up.
Interesting blog, JustLin, and the further background on John even more interesting!
Iteach~~lol @ 'Roland' :-) Please, God, not here!!!
Grats on 1st, Jennifer, and I'm with you on soccer-watching....not that into the sport itself, but the players, oh my!! Love those close-ups. So physically fit, buff, handsome, yummy!
Speaking of yummy...houseguests and I are getting hungry, so...bbl, I hope. If not, Super Sunday wishes to all.
I do want to say that Carol is the one that found that hysterical video to go with today's blog. Thank you Carol!
iteach LMAO @ Roland!
Eunice I'd recognize that unibrow anywhere!
Oh my Lord what a beautiful Owl! I love the hair....I am guessing Eunice!
Really hot and muggy here today keep expecting some thunder or lightening to roll through.
I did get part of our closet and dresser cleaned out today so it was not a totally wasted day.
Tho I have been watching the weirdest shows on TV they are like a car crash and I can't quit watching.
One was Millionaire Matchmaker (kind of fits with todays blog J/L) and the other is about the stupid playboy bunnies, The girls next door!
I tell you television has really sunk to all new lows! LOL
Tho I felt sorry for the millionaires but this woman they hired as a matchmaker is unreal!!! Yikes it is all about her!
The girls next door would be just a laugh until I realize these girls are serious! OMG
Can you say I am stunned! For gods sake I kept waiting for them to run out with depends for ol' Hef!
Oh, totally forgot to mention~~I received a lovely postcard yesterday from Mary/MI and she asked that I "tell the Owls 'Hi' for me!". It was mailed from Lyon, France 6/14 before they left for Italy on 6/15.
OK is anyone having a problem with MS? I go to the main page and the sign in won't load! Yarrrrrrgh
just finished watching Patch Adams. What a good movie. And of course afterwards I had to go to wikipedia to read all about what he is up to now. Man....I love wikipedia!
Just got back from picking up my parents from their Vegas trip and thought I'd stop in before hubby and I go out and get a bite to eat. (Alone, no less!!) Anyway, I'm still laughing at the picture today! Eunice, you haven't changed a bit--except for the hair you could be the exact same!! I'm jealous, Eunice.
iteach, LOL at Roland!! Now that's a name I haven't heard in a while (thank goodness!). That guy's elevator surely didn't go to the top floor.
Happy saturday eve!!
Hope everyone has had an excellent Saturday!!
I had a great time at my crop - met some nice people - made a "squash mini book" - that was fun.
My guess on the Senior Owl - is EUNICE!!!
Iteach - I am not EVEN going to go where you went!! LMAO!!! TOO FUNNY!!!
bbl...
Tink: Perfect! :)
ROFLMAO@iteach and BarbWa!
You're both half right. It's actually Joey and Roland's love child. Remember when Joey went to NYC? He took a wrong turn and ended up on a shuttle bus up Boston way. Well, one thing led to another, and...
OMG, I just remembered! Joey swore me to secrecy, so PLEASE don't tell anybody about this. I don't want to get a reputation as a blabbermouth.
Just_Lin:
Thank You for today's blog! I was glad I was able to find the video, I think it goes perfect!
I think the problem is, men just don't want to grow up! They just can't admit when it is time to "be a man" and accept life as it is.
Again, Lin, Thanks!
Whabby:
No need to worry, we all know you have a tend to blab!!!
:O)
Whabby:
Forgot to say! Shuttle Bus..LOL...
Mek:
Glad you are feeling better, and glad you had a good day!
:O)
Bon I bet Mary's having the time of her life. How wonderful for her.
We went to the movies tonight to see the Panda movie and we loved it.
I was pleasantly surprised on how much fun that movie was, I actually lol several times.
Bear,,, a blabbermouth??,,, nah.
Did JLinn imply earlier that brunettes can't be bimbos?
Yes, I'm blonde (real) why do you ask?
Ewww, they announced some new foods that will be at the state fair this year. Pickle juice popsicles and chocolate covered bacon on a stick.
Yuck, Want, those sound so gross!
Yes, they really do Iteach...
want No offense. Yes, brunettes can definitely be bimbos they just aren't the stereo-typical Hollywood bimbos. :)
W2S~~lol! This blonde had the same reaction to J/L's 'brunette' comment :-). Maybe I'll just slink off and dye my hair now....or go help Hef with his Depends!
Want, for whatever reason I never thought of you as a blonde.
Cool, now I have more of a visuale image in my mind.
I always wanted to be blonde, but my eyebrows are way to dark for me to even try it.
Hey Blondies! In no way did I mean ALL blondes are bimbos but if you go to Hollywood/Beverly Hills you will see all the blonde actress wannabes. They are definitely a "type".
J/L~ :-)
Zona~Got enuf OtterPops?
SacBarb~Any news on the Watsonville fire? Haven't heard back from my nephew who lives there yet...getting worried.
That's okay Iteach, I thought the picture Tina has posted was really her, well, then I thought it was a young black man.
Bonnie, what are Otter pops?
Iteach~They're like Kool-Aid in a tube/pouch that you freeze and eat, or whatever...
Bon Or whatever? Do you know another use for an OtterPop? Do I even want to go there? LOL
J/L~Again I say :-D~
Bon Well, the next time Zona says something about getting an OtterPop, I'm going to have a totally different mental image. LOL
The somewhat amazing owl has been revealed, however I think you all new this one, Fun!
I'm just hoping Zona hasn't melted. Haven't they had like 8 days in a row over 110* now? Don't know how she does it. It was 90* here yesterday and that was PLENTY for me.
Ok, guys, I need some Kudos, I went to my very first AA meeting tonite with my cousin.
I have to help, I have to be there, I just hope he really wants it, this I am not sure of...
One day at a time!
Bon I'm with you. I can't take the heat anymore, either. Yesterday it was 89 here and it was the lowest temp in the Bay Area. Today was better, in the low 80's.
Carol Definitely many KUDOS to you!!!! You are a wonderful cousin to be there for him. (((HUGS)))
Yes, Carol~~Kudos to you. Did he seem to respond favorably or be 'ready'?
Yes, definetly, Kudos, Carol. You have to be mentally exhausted!
Way to go Carol!
Doesn't pizza sound good right now?
Bon:
This is what has be stumped, he wanted to go, so I went with him, when he asked me. However after the meeting, he said he felt nothing!
I however was completely inspired
and left there feeling I can conquer the world.. He did not feel the same.
I don't think he is ready yet, I really don't. I think he went tonite because of the intervention we had last nite.
I guess we have to wait and see...
He did have a drink today tho, as he was shaking, so he said he needed. I am sworn to secrecy. Not sure if that is good or bad...
I also found a outpatient program they he can go to. I gave him the information. He is suppose to call on Monday. Is he going to call?
I just don't know...
Carol,
You didn't try to do the Pips routine at the meeting, did you?
Carol If he needed a drink so bad that he was shaking, maybe he needs medical supervision while he detoxes. Just a thought.
Okay, I really really want pizza, so I'm going to bed.
Good night everyone!
Tina-You and your family have been heavy on my mind today.
Carol I would be very careful about becoming his accomplice. He needs really, really tough love. My advice is to never cover for him again and make that very clear to him.
J/L, I was thinking the same thing.
My Father-in-law had to detox at a facility before he started all the meetings.
Goodnight iteach! Happy pepperoni dreams to you.
Just_Lin:
I have had the same thought, I did share this with him, however he refuses to go to detox!
He is 56, and stubborn!
Oh, J/L, I want a sausage pizza so bad!
iteach:
Good nite!
want, iteach, j/l, bon:
Thank You!
Carol...Isn't our motto "There are no accidents"? Double kudos that YOU were inspired!
G'night Iteach. Glad you didn't bring pizza in here, as I'm trying SO hard to behave, and I'm starving. Just opened a can of Friskies 'Poultry Platter' for my 'kids' and even that smelled good!
Does anyone here eat before they go to bed?
My hubby eats a big bowl of cereal everynight before he goes to bed.
Carol Sounds like he has not hit bottom. Maybe if the family turn their backs on him, just maybe he will feel like he hit bottom and will really try to change. As long as they are there to catch him and put up with it, why should he go through the hard work of changing?
want:
I so wanted to break out in song, however there was no alcohol served. And I just could not do it in front of all "straight" people!
Bye Iteach..
No alcohol,,at AA !!! What were they thinking..
j/l:
You just gave me a thought. He has not hit rock bottom yet, perhaps that is whats needs to happen...
My Uncle is coming up tomorrow from South Jersey to talk to him, maybe he can get somewhere!
iteach:
No I don't eat before going to bed, If I am hungry (which i am usually 24/7). I fight it!
Carol Hope your cousin still has his kneecaps intact when your uncle is done with him. Just kidding! Bwahahahahha!!!!!
want:
I know I thought the same thing. All they served was Coffee...WTF
OOOH, I got 1*69 without even trying.
Carol, don't lie for him anymore. And, if he was shaking, he has a bigger problem than you might think. But, did you see hime shake or did he tell you that dso you would feel sorry for him and make it okay if he had a drink?
CAROL...many many many KUDOS to you. It can't be easy watching those you love suffer like that and be frustrating to know they are not accepting of their problem or the help that is out there.
I hope you can get your cousin to attend some more meetings...maybe after a few it will click and he will feel it.
There is also help for the family members via Al-Anon.
EUNICE...what a "lovely" picture you took for grad! Woould it be wrong to refer to you as EWWWWnice? bwahahahaha
ITEACH...pizza sounds incredibly delish right about now. I'll have chicken (heheheh!) mushrooms, onions and BACON on mine! And a side of Rolaids!
SANDIE...thank you ;)
j/l:
Guess what, you are so right! I am glad I won't be around. I have a baby shower in the AM and then a 50th birthday dinner in the PM....
So I don't have to see or hear it!
Whew....
want:
I did not see him shake, he just told me he did. I know I can't lie for him, I will give him this one, and that will be all!
Mo:
Helloooo....
How was he hell hole?
You did a nice thing Carol, and he ruined it by naking you lie. He doesn't deserve you.
Carol~~I wouldn't even pretend to give advice as I've never had to go through the process with anyone, but I do know from 15 years of observing inmates pass through the revolving door of a Corrections facility, when one has d.t.s, medical/pharmaceutical intervention is required before anything else stands a chance.
Mo Ewwwnice! I love it! It's perfect!
Tina:
I am sorry for the loss of such a young boy, I am also sorry for not posting this comment sooner. I have
your family in my thoughts...
Bon:
I know this about the medical treatment, However I can't make him go he has to want to go...Maybe
j/l is right. Rock bottom is not where he is...
Want:
Thank You ♥♥
CAROL...I agre with the others...if he is shaking already without a drink, he needs medical intervention. And please don't let him manipulate him into lying for him. I know it's hard, but tell him in no uncertain terms you will not enable him anymore.
I can't believe you said there was no alcohol at an AA meeting!!!!!
Mo:
Eunice...LOL...
Mo~SO good to see you! Saw your MS status & thought you'd gone night-night. Btw, aren't you experiencing serious chafing by now? You've been shakin' your groove thing up against that fence for two days now. No wonder you're exhausted!
Mo:
Well what the heck did I know, I have never been to a AA meeting before
:O)
I truly think they would have appreciated Carol's dance routine... really. Or, maybe some of them would go back to drinking.,....hhmmm
Carol I think those meetings are BYOB! Bwahahaha!!!
all this talk about PIZZA is REALLY making me hungry!!
cpgem - (((HUGS)))
Just to let you all know - when the temps hit 100 and higher down here in the desert - it's survival of the fittest!! LOL -
It's called AC!! and you try really hard NOT to go outside!!
:-)
I can't believe i'm going to do this - but - it feels like midnight - so I'm going to bed.
Tomorrow is Mr. MEK and my 12th wedding anniversary!! :-) YIKES!!
I hope everyone has an excellent Sunday!!!
J/L - now THAT was funny!!
Good Nite all!!!
190
Bon:
LOL....
BTW
Her name is "HOpiggy"
SShh, don't say that Jlin, her cousin might try.
MEK Good night and Happy Anniversary!
Want:
I believe it would have been the latter!
Mek:
Happy Anniversary!
CAROL...you could have broken out into song and dance...you are anonymous there!! I bet they didn't even have any bacon for you, either. ;(
BONO...I decided to pig out instead...brownie, 3 muskateers bar and cheeze its (reduced fat, of course!!) and diet sierra mist!
That was comment about me being chafed was HILARIOUS!!
200!!!!!!!
j/l:
The only things they seem to bring at this meetings are coffee and cigarettes....
200!!!!!!!
200!!!!!!!!!!
200!!!!!!
