Festival of Light

by Zona

Luminarie De Cagna is a family business that uses electric lights to decorate buildings, trees etc for celebrations and festivals. This year they created this Cathedral of Light for the Lichtfestival Ghent on Belfortstraat in Ghent, Belgium. The structure stands 91 ft tall at it's highest point and is made of 55,000 LED lights. It is absolutely beautiful!

Another spectacular part of this festival is a 3D light and sound show entitled 'On dirait que..' that is projected onto the Post Plaza building on the Korenmarkt. The show tells the tale of a young boy who dreams that the doors and windows of his home turn into toys that come to life while the entire building becomes something out of a fairy tale. I was mesmerized by this show..I hope you like it too! :)

My Aunt Gladys enjoyed a good light festival...

At Christmas she would stick her xmas tree right up in the window so passersby could have a gander....she also did a mean shadow puppet with a flaslight...

She had one of those old make-up mirrors and the the lights that worked flashed so people could never quite figure out her make-up jobs...

Good Morning Michael - You have quite the imagination.

Zona - I really enjoyed that. I love light shows. They fascinate me. The first one I saw was in the old strip of Vegas. The whole ceiling was lights and music, mainly Elvis. This one you showed us was a different experience. I was mesmerized too. Thanks for sharing.

In a small east Texas town called Marshal....every year they light the Christmas tree in the town square and top it off with lighting the entire town square and the courthouse. People come from miles around to see the spectacle.

Well one year they threw the switch on the Christmas tree and lights started popping and exploding and within minutes the entire tree...which had been hauled all the way over from Dalby Springs...was engulfed in flames!

That set off a chain reaction and the courthouse and town square lights all came on and started popping and exploding as well. People wre screaming and grabbing their kids! It was quite a sight for about 10 minutes until everything went totally black!

It blew half the city grid and driving out of there with no traffic lights and the 50 mile trip back to Texarkana gave us plenty of time to "relive" the excitement many times. We had heard that Santas sleigh...with Santa in it...had caught fire as well but that was an unconfirmed rumor that turned out to be false.

Anywho...we fondly remember that December night as "The Night the Lights Went Out in Marshal"...

Boy, I know how to shut down a blog. Must have been that avatar every is enlarging, Michael.

I've changed some my staying arrangements today as all of a sudden my cousins house had six more people staying and not room for all of them and sharing a bathroom. She is like the more the fun. I was really feeling anxiety and I haven't had that before and don't like it much. The dr gave me something to relax me at the airport not at home too. I don't think I will be doing this any time soon again. At any rate I'm going

Don't blame it on my avatar! My avatar is funny!

Sharing a bathroom with 6 people Dianne?

That doesn't sound good...

You can just stay here and have ur own ensuite bedroom....AND the White girls at your beck and call....

There's no reason why my comment to Michael posted twice. Very weird.
