UNREAL REALITY TV!

by Maureen

Have you had the opportunity to watch Here Comes Honey Boo Boo? OMG. I know there is no reality in reality TV, but this SURREAL!

They refer to themselves as "red necks" and I can think of no more perfect adjective. They certainly do put the FUN in dysfunctional! One of their favorite things to do is go mudding...yes they play in the mud! And it seems they pretty much live on junk food and I do believe road kill!

They are a family of Mom, 4 daughters and Sugar Bear...Honey Boo Boo's daddy. I don't know if mom and Sugar Bear are married, but a few episodes ago they had their first date! And one of the teenage daughters is expecting her first daughter.

Of course one of my favorite family members is Glitzy, the pet piglet! Sadly they had to give her back to the breeder, but she was a cutie patootie. But, and there is a BIG but...they let that little piggy walk on the table and yep, you guessed it, it took a dump on their table! She did fit right in as she had a rather imposing flatulence issue, but then again so does Mom! And she doesn't hold back!

Honey Boo Boo is the star of the show. She is around 6 or 7 and an aspiring beauty queen. That is another issue I have and maybe another blog in itself. I do give the kid credit, she works hard. But the real defining quality of Honey is her attitude! And she has 'tude to spare! She can teach graduate level additude...with a shake of her head and 2 snaps at least!! She is quite endearing...in a red neck sort of way!!!

As dysfunctional as each and every one of them are, they love each other ginormously. They make it work!
In some odd way, they really do have strong family values.

If you haven't seen this yet, give it a try...you might like it. Or be repulsed!!

Good Morning Zona - I hope you are feeling better today. You look beautiful.

Maureen - I saw that show after I had heard it beat the Republican convention in ratings and that it wins its time slot every week. It is definitely jaw dropping but also mesmerizing and entertaining. I have only seen it once but I learned Honey Bear and Mom aren't married and Boo Boo is his only child. There is a different father for each daughter. What I would like to know is how do they get the money to pay for Boo Boo's outfits? They are very expensive. Maybe I will watch another episode to find out. I must be careful as I hear it becomes addictive. LOL

Off to the pool. Have a great day everyone.

Hi Mo. I have only watched a portion of this show once. I didn't find it entertaining at all. But it does seem to have some entertainment value for a lot of people, apparently.

Zona, I, too, had that same thought about what Honey Boo Boo will be like when she is a teenager and adult. Lindsey Lohan and train wreck come to mind.

Tinka, TLC pays the family LOTS of money and that's how they can afford pretty much anything they want.

By the way, is it just me that finds it kind of ironic that this show is aired on The Learning Channel?

Lynn, sorry you have to go to the dentist today and so early, too. ;-)

Zona You look so pretty in first today! We really don't need air conditioning at all. After all, getting through a couple of days of 80* weather isn't such a big deal. We do have air conditioning at the animal hospital, though.

MO Thanks for the blog. I haven't seen that show but I have heard of it. I understand they have to have sub-titles. LOL

Tinka I hope you have a good day at the pool.

SacBarb I definitely find it ironic that the show is on The Learning Channel.

Thanks for the comments today!

SAC BARB...I never thought about the irony of it being on TLC!! hahaha

From what I have read, they really didn't get very much per episode this year, but do to its success, they will be gettin LOTS more next season.

I also read that they do the major couponing thing...and have a garage full of the stuff. But they also give a lot to the needy. They actually seem like nice people. Sugar Bear works 7 days a week.

JUST LIN...when I lived in West L.A, I didn't have AC and never needed it. When I lived in the Valley, def needed the AC.

My new fridge is here and loaded. I had to throw some stuff out that was outdated that Chad missed while he was here.

SAC BARB...what have you named the new fridge?

Hi Everyone:

Mo: I've never watched this shoe but have read about it. I probably won't watch it. Thanks for the blog today. Hope you are doing well.

Zona: you look so purdy at first today. Are those new pj's have on? :)

Barb: that is pretty strange that Boo Boo is on TLC. Jay Leno has a lot to say about that show.

JL: I think I could live with a couple of 80 degree days. It sounds so nice where you live. It would be fun to live so close to the ocean.

Tink: are you busy cooking for your holiday coming up. I think I can smell those pies. Don't take on too much. You want to be chipper for the day.

Today was my last day of work for about six or seven weeks---I hope. I was sad when I left there and they were all standing on the porch waving to me. We had a little party and had Chinese for lunch and there was a "miss you" sign and picture on my computer. She did keep me quite busy today.

What does your new refig look like, Barb? Ice maker? I love when it is "clean out the freezer" day and its gets almost empty as intend to fill it up too much for a non cooker.

Dianne/Denver said...

14 because I don't want to see any bad luck.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne That's sweet that they had a little farewell party for you. It's sure beats having a "Good riddance" sign on your computer. LOL

Barb And just think....it's clean UNDER the fridge, too. :)

Mo, I did not name the fridge. I had enough trouble coming up with three names for my kids, so I don't usually name inanimate objects. However, I did name my OnStar gps guy George Clooney, just because I liked the idea of George Clooney giving me directions.

Dianne, It is a Samsung and has double doors on top and a bottom freezer. It has an ice maker and water and ice in the door. Oh, and it is stainless steel. My old one is a side-by-side and stuck out way beyond the cabinet next to it. It made the kitchen seem smaller. This one is just a little deeper than the cabinet and I like it a lot better. I took a pic with my phone but I can't figure out how to get it on FB.

Barb, it sounds really nice. I like the idea of the freezer on the bottom I have a side by side and don't care for it. It came with the house so it was not by choice. I think the freezer is too skinny.

Better talk to our google/FB person---Zona. She will know how to put picture on FB.

JL, it was sweet that they had the party for me but when I drove off and saw them all standing there waving---I felt like I was going off to war. :). It was sad but they don't know that--it's my secret--oh, and Louis had to hear.
