I never listened to KISS and am not really a big fan of reality shows, but one day my kids were watching Gene Simmons Family Jewels and I found myself watching with them. One show, and I was hooked. That man can be such a teddy bear. He doesn't believe in marriage, yet has been with Shannon Tweed for 23 years. They have two children who seem to be really good kids. Even Shannon admitted on one show how she can't believe they have turned out as well as they have, considering who their parents are!
I couldn't find a video to post from my favorite show, so I'll just tell you. Sophie had a father/daughter volleyball tournament that Gene wasn't going to be home for. She didn't tell him about it because she didn't want him to feel guilty for not being there. He found out though, when he came home one day to find his business manager practicing with Sophie. On the day of the tournament, Gene was on his way to the airport, when, at the last minute, he decided to cancel everything and go to the tournament at the beach, which had already started. But Gene Simmons doesn't just "show up!" He brought the LA Clipper's cheerleaders with him to cheer them on. Sophie, her brother Nick, and Shannon were all embarrassed. They lost the tournament, but in the end, Gene was there and that was all that mattered.
Here is a scene from another good show. Sophie has a sleepover and they sneak out of the house and meet up with boys. One of the girls decides to stay with the boys and the girls go back home. The lone girl ends up calling her friends to pick her up because the boys have left her. This scene is from after the girl is rescued, by Gene of course, and they all go out to grab a bite!
The man just makes me laugh. In business, he's ruthless, but with his family and friends, he's a jewel!!

I enjoy the antics of the Simmons family too. My favorites are when he and Carrot Top get together. He and Gene remind me of Tina & DeeDee; feeding off each other for laughs.

I know who Gene Simmons is, however I have never watched this show, not sure when its even on.. I am so overwhelmed with all these reality shows, I can't keep up.. I have been watching Tori and Dean.. I know "lame" but their kids are so cute, I think that is why I started watching Jon and Kate, was because of the kids, and that has turned into a train wreck.. What ever happen to the great sitcom.. Friends, Will and Grace, Frasier I miss them.. esp Friends....
I went to my cousins for dinner yesterday.. for "Sunday Gravy" it was delish, but my other cousin was drinking to much and it started pissing me off.. he keep taking over the conversation, interrupting everyone, crying, laughing, yadda, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah.. He got up to have a cig outside so we took all the wine off the table and his glass.. typical keep it quiet that he drinks to much and just hide it.. So needless to say, I came home in a bad mood.. Oh, I hate when he gets like that, I am still angry over it...

TINA: I've never been much of a fan of KISS either..and I never really liked Gene Simmons..until I saw this show. It cracks me up the way he doesn't mean to embarrass the kids..but always does. Nick's facial expressions are priceless!
I also like when Shannon and her sister get together..I laughed so hard when they were invited to the birthday party of someone they thought they knew in highschool..omg..so funny.

Congrats on first Tina!
Don't watch the Family Jewels show and have found myself kind of burned out by many of them. What I have watched at times seems like how much money can they pay me to be a jackass. I just don't get it.
Mostly now I find myself watching HGTV or the Food channel. They are usually informative and soothing at the same time.
I am spending the day at home! Resting and doing some chores. The operative word here is some.

Jack thought I was nuts when before I unpacked I had to harvest my tomatoes before they went bad. I think he figures I have completely lost it now. We know better thought don't we. Good Morning Carol - I am overwhelmed by the reality shows too. Most of them I can't even bear to watch. I like Dancing with the Stars and American Idol and that's about as real as I can 'take'.
Tina - Those clips were funny. I will give the show a try. Maybe it's different from the others. I never liked "The Osbournes". Is it like that one?

I guess I will get busy and water my planters. We had a lovely weekend. Jack built a deck on to the '5th wheel' with a ramp and put a ramp up to the cabin. Steps really hurt my knees so I am thankful he was able to do that. It was a restful weekend, just what the doctor ordered.
I heard from VIG last night. All the teachers are in a hotel right now. There is some issue with the teachers' houses. I don't know what it is but VIG says she loves living in the hotel. It's hot in Kuwait but everything has AC. I am eager to hear more.
Zona - I am home if you want to call.
Tina - I bet you now come out from behind that tree. I saw your feathers and we are getting close to your favourite number.

Tina, I have never seen this show. I recently found out that a young cousin of mine who is a model/actor was a guest on the show. In his episode, he had a date with the daughter.
There are so many new reality shows. A couple weeks ago on a Sunday, I watched "Cake Boss". A guy who owns a bakery who yells a lot!
Same day I watched "Flip This Hose" a guy who flips houses who yells a lot!
Too much.

Tina Congrats on first and thanks for the smiles with the Simmons' this morning. I have watched the show but haven't kept up on it regularly. They are all very funny, though. Gene Simmons used to be a teacher, 5th or 6th grade I believe. It's very sweet how Shannon filmed so much of the kids for Gene as they were growing up so he wouldn't be left out while he was on tour with KISS.
Oh Tina, btw..love the blog. I love Gene Simmon's Family Jewels..!

What has happened? Are they that desperate for new tv shows that they have to dig this deep? Gene Simmons is about the least appealing person I can imagine having to watch and listen to. Whats up with his hair? I don't watch much tv at all and apparently its a good thing. Years ago I owned our local tv station...a CBS affiliate....and I couldn't have held my head up locally if we had broadcasted the shit that is shown today......most recently that reality show where the idiot killed the girl and pulled her teeth and cut off her fingers comes to mind.
I guess television is going the way of the Big 3 automakers....down the damn drain.
I'll take a rerun with Betty Jo..Bobby Jo..Billie Jo..and Uncle Joe anytime over that fuzzy headed Gene Simmons guy!
Btw.......was he the one with the x-tra long tongue because I have been known to change my mind....
TINA...I love this show. I don't have cable, but one Sunday at my cousins we watched a marathon! He has to have the worst hair...or is it a helmet!! Nick is adorable and hilarious! Sophie seems so normal! You can tell that Gene is a really good dad and the kids adore him.

Today was just a 1/2 day. We put away school supplies and ate cookies that had a "tent" on them.
I like to start the school year off with an outdoor theme. Tomorrow we will start off with a big unit on insects, we will visit the butterfly this week.
I really like to put an emphasis on the outdoors, because so many children stay inside to watch TV.
For tomorrow's snack we are going to go fishing. The kids will use a pretzel as a fishing pole. Then they will dip it into their "bait" which is peanut butter. Then they will cast their "pole" into the pond which is blue construction paper and catch a fish (golfish crackers).
I did it last year for the first time and the children had so much fun with it.
Hubby doesn't start work this week which is a total godsend. I'm exhausted..............
well....in that case....with his freakishly long tongue and all....I guess I could watch him....but he should wear his KISS costume and his tongue should get more air time....

Jennifer~ I'm exhausted and I didn't even teach today...I just got home! Had to pick up the youngest at school at 6:30...which turned into 7pm! Then met the other two at WalMart for school supplies.....hubby isn't even home yet...he had a 6:30pm meeting and then had to take youngest to find cleats.....the brat decided YESTERDAY that he wanted to play football!!!! I think I'm crawling into bed early tonight~
