In 1843 he ran for Congress and was DEFEATED .
He tried again in 1848 and was DEFEATED again.
He tried running for the Senate in 1855. He LOST.
The next year he ran for vice-president and LOST.
In 1859 he ran for the senate again and was DEFEATED.
In 1860, the man who signed his name A. Lincoln was elected the 16th President of the United States.

Feeling a cold coming on, this is not good. I have things to do! I have Sam's WYSO concert on Saturday and I have to clean and get the guest rooms ready and shop and yadda, yadda before the masses start to decend on me next week. Kids and grandkids on THurs. Thanks to all of you for your positive wishes and thoughts. I am not feeling too positive. I'm trying, but it is hard. Two more hospitals in the area laid off another 200 people. The scary part of that is that they are hospitals we partner with. I am going to try to think positive as not to induce a negative self fulfilling prophecy.

Iteach: I want to tell you, I loved your blog today! Lincoln is my favorite president and when we lived in Washington Dc area, I LOVED the Lincoln Memorial. It is my favorite!! Did you hear about the watch that they found inscribed on the inside with the date of the start of the war! That was so interesting! Also, they found the last known picture taken of Lincoln. It was taken in front of the White house.
Joey: I knew about the sex line. I heard it on the radio and, of course, I had to call it to hear it for myself..LOL. Too funny.

We were watching the local news a while ago, the San Francisco food bank got a big, huge donation from Kelloggs today.
Seems they dropped Michael Phelps, and donated all the boxes of corn flakes and frosted flakes to the food bank.
So lots of people will benefit and get some (collectable?) cereal.

We just got back from my MIL's house. Dinner and TV night.

I am watching "life on mars" and they have a Partridge Family song playing in the backround.. I am have a major teen flashback..
I'm so glad you enjoyed a tibit of Lincoln's life today.
Visiting Lincoln's library in Springfield was truly one of the most amazing days for me.
I had been to Kennedy's Presidential Library and had alway thought that was remarkable, but Lincoln's was way better.
Oh, shoot I missed Life on Mars, my favorite new show.

Bebbi- I did see the two articles this week about Lincoln in regards to the picture and his watch. I loved it!

Back...and going to bed. Idol was great. Kelly Clarkson is coming to Louisville in August. I have to get tickets for that concert but the problem is, Taylor Swift is coming tooo and I want to go to that one too. Oh well, maybe I will win the lottery before then and get to go to both..ha!

And yes, the judges can get mean, but they do help the contestants to improve, and in the end, a American Idol is born. The music industry is very hard, and many musicians get knocked down all the time, I truly think its the nature of the beast.
