The Drive

Its a clear Fall Sunday Afternoon, and as I walk outside I get a feeling of freedom. I get in the car and drive, not really sure where I am driving to, but the weather has given me a push, and so I drive on. I can feel the air all thru me, as the sunroof is open allowing me the freedom to feel. The highway is vast with not many cars crowding it. My Garden State and all its foliage, is turning orange and brown, which is right on target for this time of year. The radio is a buzzing with all my favorite tunes, the song reaches my lips, sound emerges. As I drive this vast highway it seems I have left everything behind, I only go forward into the brown and orange trees that are before me. I know I can't let all of it go but that is ok because this special moment of breathing in the air and driving with no boundaries has renewed me. The hope presents itself and on I go.

Jennifer, I saw your post in Area 51! That is how I found out Rosie posted my link! Thank you!!

I love this post! Felt like I was riding shotgun. (yes, I stuck my head and arms out of the sunroof like I was on a rollercoaster woohooing and whatnot)

Good Morning!

CAROL: When I was a kid we used to all pile into the car on Sundays and my dad would turn on the radio and off we'd go. I don't think he really knew where he was headed..in fact..I bet he was thinking along the same lines as you were in today's blog..just go..see where the road takes you..just drive!

Mr Z and I love the drive up to Sedona..it's one of the prettiest in the state. There's nothing quite like turning on the radio and looking at the scenery as it passes by your open window to clear your mind of worries and frustrations. I'm just a passenger in these jaunts..but I really do love them.

Zona said...

LL/NN: Congrats on FIRST! I still love putting my arm out the window and feeling the wind rush by..and I still hear my mom telling me to "get your arm inside..do you want another car to drive by and rip it right off your shoulder?".. :D

BIRRDEEEE! OMG..LOL..I almost fell off my chair..you look nice and crispy today.. :D

Good Morning, I know I havent posted here in a LONG time, I've been busy with Life. Well my mom was having pain in her right side under her boob (how else can I explain it, lol) she finally told me yesterday after 3 weeks of being in pain. My sister took her to the hospital, because I had to get Victor caught up on his homework.

My sister called and kept me up on everything. She called me this morning EARLY, and told me that Mom has a Golf Size Mass/Tumor on her right lung.

My mom wanted a three way conversation, her family doctor who has been her doctor for years, told her, theres tumors all over her right lung, liver, and a LOT on her Breast Bone and I guess theres more, I will find out when my sister and I get to the Hospital. The Doctor just said to her it dosen't look good Vicki. I'm numb I cried with my sister on the phone. I know I haven't been her but I'm asking you to pray for her and my family that we can accept GODS WILL. Thank you.

Good Morning Hooters!

Congrats on 1st Lois- and Happy Birthday to Lane 2 and congrats on Rosie linking your site!

Birde! Have you no shame-that is quite the pose!!

Loved your pic Carol and the feeling you shared.

Zonabaaaaaaaaaaay- we did the same thing as kids. Mom and Dad would pile us into the care and we would just drive. Often stopping for a picnic my Mom would pack. No destination in mind, just the Sunday drive. Thanks for bringing that memory back to me. Of course that also brings back the memory that my sister ALWAYS got car sick! lol

Renee- I am so sorry (((hugs)))

good morning to you too bona and Bebbi.

Morning Glories!

Congrats on first Lois!

Birdee I think she may have stuffed your head up you ass! It is still missing. LOL

Carol I so relate to your drive! I need to make one of those and a few days trek all on my own. Feels like demons chasing me. The problem is I may not stop and just might keep going.

Good morning!

Lonely road...all by myself...enjoying the scenery and all of a sudden POW!! BLOWOUT!!! I haven't seen a cell phone tower in miles much less a service station...just that pickup load of slack-jawed hillbillies that were parked on the side of the road a ways back.
I take my eyes off the rear view mirror and look out the front and (descending drums) there they are!!

THE HILLBILLIES!! WITH THEIR RIFLES!!

SOUNDS LIE A GOOD TIME FOR A CONCEALED WEAPON!!

I throw open the car door and drop and roll (combat style) firing simutaneously taking out 3 of the 4!! The 4th drops his weapon and its not until that moment that as I walk toward hims the pure animal magnetism is pulling us to each others embrace....we kiss....his one lone buck tooth scratching gently at the back of my throat...the smell of farm animals is intoxicating......

to be continued......

Happy Tuesday Owls.

Carol, My Hubby and I used to take long drives to nowhere in particular along roads where he knew there wouldn't be a lot of other cars. Unfortunately, I have driven some of those same roads in the last few years and the traffic was too heavy to enjoy the drive. Sad.

Reading the description of your drive reminded me of the trip Sharon and I took to New England to see the colors of Fall. We were both awestruck by the beauty of the vibrant colors. Thanks for bringing back that memory.

sacBarb said...

No Newz, Congrats on #1 and Rosie linking your blog. How exciting. That's one step closer to getting a gig with her.

Birdee, Sorry to see you are still headless.

Zona, My Hubby and I also loved the drive to Sedona.

Renee, Prayers for your Mom and family.

Dee, LOL and your drop and roll. I can't wait for part 2.

Mary, Is your kitchen all done already?

Waving a wing to Bebbi, Bonachichi, Goldie, Lynn, and all the other Owls. I hope you all have a great day.

Zona said...

RENEE: I am so sorry..I'll definitely say a prayer for your mom and your family..

SACBARB: Mr Z and I were talking about driving up the coast of California next year..I really hope we can do it..

Just_Lin said...

NN/LL Congrats on #1 and also congrats about Rosie putting your blog link on her blog. How exciting for you!

Birdee If you're hearing an echo, I think that'll give you a hint where your head is....ijs.

Zona Mom's tend to fear the worst, no matter how unlikely. :)

Renee Eve I'm so sorry about your news. I said a prayer for your mom and your family.

Bebbi I like your cute little owl!

Bonach LMAO @ rodent on her head!

Goldie Maybe you could lend some of your tassles to Birdee.

LynnD If you head south, please stop by. :)

DeeDee Who knew that you had the makings of a romance novelist? I can just see Fabio posing for the cover now, hair blowing in the wind, all but one tooth blacked out.

Mary You always make the yummiest sounding dinners. You make me hungry.

Carol That was a lovely blog. I love the words "freedom" and "driving with no boundaries". It reminds us that all things are possible and we never know what is around the next curve in life. :)

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb I would love to see the Fall colors in New England. Maybe someday.....

Zona Yes! Come to California! I'm right on the coast. :)

NN/LL~ congrats on first~ And big congrats on ur link getting exposed......i mean....exposure....oh you know what i mean~ :)~

birdee~ i'd recognize ur beautiful body anywhere~

Carol~ Loved the drive today~ When we were little, dad would take us for a sunday drive.....to whatever construction job he was working on at the time~ Oh the beautiful framed houses!!!! I think I like ur drive better!~ Today tho, on my way to the Doc's office, i come over this hill and the view in front of me is the Pacific ocean in all it's glory~ So peaceful~

which brings me to dad's appt~ This one wasn't so much fun~ The doc said, and I quote: "That makes me nervous!" one of dad's counts came back higher.....it was already higher than normal, but had been coming down like everything else...So.....i'm coming back in a month....Doc said that it's either the cancer coming back, or they messed up in the lab. He's been having pain in his shoulder, but I just attributed it to doing too much and straining it......I really hope that's all it is.....and I hope it's a fluke.....but when he said HE was nervous.....freaked us both out~ So keep those cards and letters coming.....oh....I mean, prayers and good thoughts or whatever it is you believe in~ :D

I've got an hour to pack, get lunch and git my butt to the airport~ Have a good day, all~

Good Evening all.....RENEE: I am so sorry for your family and what you are all going through. My prayers will be with all of you.

CAROL: Such a relaxing nice blog. I think I needed it after my grumpy day yesterday.

Here is a follow up: the two places I called/emailed now have their flags at half-mast and it made me glad that I called. TINA, told me I had PMS but I don't know if you can have that without ovaries...can you?

TINA: Glad you were able to get home safe and sound today. I'm sorry your dad had some not great test results. I hope they will be better in a month and I do say prayers every night so your dad will be right there.

I want to tell you all again thanks for the birthday wishes. I have received so many notes and cards and appreciate it so much from all of you. It makes getting older just a little bit easier.

I guess it is true. The Broncos were watching the darn tassels on JODI AND GOLDIE last night and didn't even pay attention to who they were throwing the ball too. I am watching a show right now and they said there was almost most Pittsburgh fans than Denver. I guess they were getting a lot of money for the tickets. Ok...next week...Washington Redskins and they are not a very good team..we will see..that's the rumor anyway.

Ok, I need to go and fix some dinner and haven't a clue what to fix but I know MrD is looking like he thinks something might be cooking..HA

Barb, no my kitchenis still in the "prep" stage! We had more painting to do. I did all the trim tonight and hubby will paint primer tomorrow. We weren't going to paint the hall way yet, but it looked too nasty with the nice kitchen paint.
Unfortunately next week is open deer season in Mich. My contractor is a hunter. My cupboards are arriving on the24. Looks like Thanksgiving could be a mess here!
Good night all!
You too sweet lurkers :)!!!
