~ The Land of Old Age ~

by Tina~in_ut

Have you celebrated your 25th birthday for the last ten years? Twenty? Even thirty? There are many perks to getting older such as closer parking, discounts, and the fact that you’re least likely to get kidnapped. Here are some signs that maybe, just maybe, you might be getting a little older.

1. You walk into a room and forget why you’re there. You repeat this four times before realizing you just wanted a drink of water.
2. You’re asleep, but others worry you’re dead.
3. Your friend is dating someone less than half their age, and isn’t breaking any laws.
4. People call you at 8pm and ask, "Did I wake you?" They did.
5. Happy hour is a nap.
6. You have a party and your neighbors don’t even realize it.
7. You have more hair in your ears than on your head. And you don’t care.
8. It takes three tries to get up from the couch.
9. It takes longer to rest than it did to get tired.
10. You sink your teeth into a grilled cheese. They stay there.
11. The twinkle in your eye is just the reflection of the sun on your bifocals.
12. You can’t remember where you put your glasses.
13. An hour later you remember you’re wearing your glasses.
14. You sit in a rocking chair, but you can’t get it going.
15. Your secrets are always safe with your friends because they can’t remember them.
16. You don’t worry about tying shoelaces. All your shoes are slip-ons.
17. Adult diapers? Actually, they’re kind of convenient.
18. You look both ways before crossing a room.
19. Your worst enemy? Gravity.
20. You see toys from your childhood. In a museum.
21. Your knees buckle. Your belt won’t.
22. You start every sentence with "Nowadays…" or "When I was your age…"
23. Someone says it’s windy today, and you reply, "No, it’s Thursday."
24. You pet your cat on the bathroom counter. It’s really your toupee.
25. You get winded on the stairs. Going down.
26. You wonder when they started letting elementary school kids become doctors.
27. You have ever used the word "whippersnapper".
28. You realize you can’t find some of your favorite magazines on the racks any more: Colliers, Coronet, Life, Look, Galaxy…
29. People start letting you go through doors first.
30. You no longer have to worry about strange men offering you candy. Or wine.
31. You know the difference between your and you’re; its and it’s; there, they’re and their; and are annoyed when you notice them misused.
32. You have ever referred to yourself using a ‘C’ word: Crotchety, Curmudgeon, Codger, Coot.
33. Other people have begun referring to you as "eccentric".
34. Your drivers license goes from "black" to "salt & pepper" to "grey" to "flesh-toned".
43. You tend to lose count of things.

Good Morning - Is everyone sleeping in or out shopping?

Tina - My favourite is the one about Happy Hour is nap time. "Me" time is 12 until 2. I don't answer phones or door bells. Sometimes I sleep an hour and sometimes I don't sleep at all but I have my rest with my "fur babies". I love it.

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy day.

J/L...

you know I have all the gastro problems....but with all the ways we have learned that the food we buy can be tainted it really makes me think about the things we buy at the market to eat....

I think a lot more times than we realize we get from a touch of food poisoning... to enough to make your body get rid of the offending matter....

Do your diagnosis for yestiddy was a touch...thankfully....

Tinka Good morning, Beautiful. I don't think today's blog has anything to do with us, do you?

Just_Lin said...

Tina Thanks for the blog. I'll have to look out for those things when I get older. ;)

Michael I agree, it probably has something to do with the hamburger I had at a coffee shop at lunch time. On the other hand, I've been having a headache since the day before and still have it. That isn't usual for me at all. So, who knows? My stomach is still a little iffy today.

I am getting careless about changing avatars....

Tinka (sweet Tinka)...

I did not "google" the Queens full title....I learned it years ago for obvious reasons...

you know...in case I ever reeeeally need to know it....

Belle and I nap also....there are 3 down pillows on each side of the bed and she gets on the 2 behind the first one and gets them all mashed down to a perfectly wonderful little nest surrounded by 4 walls of pillows. Before she stretches out or curls up and is watching me nest I can just see her little head poking out....lol
and once I am situated and we have split a chocolate and praline seahell...we're off to dream-land...

and these fall temps make it sooo nice....

ok...so what have we learned here. That I am lazy...love chocolate.. and I loooove my Belle....

Michael RE: your avatar. You made him look like a stewardess on the new show, PanAm. Have you seen it? It's actually a very good show, which surprised me.

Peeking in! Hope everyone is feeling better. Sorry to hear you were ill J/L. Jodi, Hawaii sounds divine. I am so sorry you had to come back to reality..it's hard. I felt the same way after San Francisco.

Tinka, you look lovely today!

Talk to you all soon

Bebbi Waving a wing at you. You've been missed around here.

J/L...

I am really enjoying Pan Am....hope it doesn't get cancelled....

My Mother and us 3 kids flew on Pan Am many times in the 60's when my Dad was in the USAF....and I remember looking at those stews like they were movie stars....they were very glamorous...I wanted to be one....and years later I was...but for Braniff...we were about one fifth that glamorous...lol

I found that pic of Gaddafi, as is...lol

HI BEBBI!!

Michael. The Pan Am actresses were on the View this morning. Apparently, those stews at that time had to have college degrees and speak more than one language.

Happy Thursday Owls.

Tina, I can't identify with any of those, but thanks for the warning of what I should look for. I think I recognize some of those traits in one (or more)of my friends, however.

Tinka, How lovely you look in first today. How nice that you have those two hours every day just for you.

J/L, I hope you feel better today. I finally got a diagnosis about my foot. Turns out it's another episode of gout. I am already better after only two doses of the medicine. Hopefully I will be able to get shoes on tomorrow so I can drive to a card class.

Waving to Bebbi , Michael and all the other Owls. I hope you all have a good day.

I found #14 about not being able to get the rocking chair going very amusing! Dianne came to mind when I read it!

However I KNOW none of this will happen to ME!

Earthquake!

Just_Lin said...

SacBarbg I'm glad you are getting such quick results with the medication.

Just_Lin said...

Shirley None of those things will happen to any of us, I'm sure.

Just_Lin said...

About a 3.9 earthquake. Not a big event.

Dianne/Denver said...

Didn't feel the quake here yet. It may have been me trying to rock in th chair Shirley left for me!!! ( not
nice missy)

Been to lunch and some shopping today--new fluffy towels.

Interesting list of what happens in growing older. Listening to Tinka and Michael talk about there naps makes me want to take one.

Hope everyone is doing well and that JL and Barb get better

Just_Lin said...

Dianne How nice to have new fluffy towels. I'm still not feeling up to par. I don't normally take naps but I took one today for a couple of hours.
