~ Your Know Ur Getting Old When ~

by Tina~in_ut

All of your favorite movies are now re-released in color.
At cafeterias, you complain that the gelatin is too tough.
Conversations with people your own age often turn into "dueling ailments."
Everything hurts and what doesn’t hurt, doesn’t work.
In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.
It takes a couple of tries to get over a speed bump.
It takes longer to rest than it did to get tired.
It takes twice as long to look half as good.
Many of your co-workers were born the same year that you got your last promotion.
No one expects you to run into a burning building.
People call at 9 p.m. and ask, "Did I wake you?"
People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
The clothes you’ve put away until they come back in style … come back in style.
The little gray-haired lady you help across the street is your wife.
The pharmacist has become you newest best friend.
There’s nothing left to learn the hard way.
Things you buy now won’t wear out.
When getting lucky means you find your car in the parking lot.
When happy hour is a nap.
When you are cautioned to slow down by your doctor instead of the police.
When you realize that caution is the only thing you care to exercise.
You and your teeth don’t sleep together.
You begin every other sentence with, "Nowadays…"

Good Morning Jodi. I agree. Happy Hour for me is my nap time at noon. I couldn't live without it.

Maureen - Thank you so much for breakfast. I would love some gingerbread pancakes covered with fruit and a sausage link on the side. Wow, that is some breakfast. Is it all right if I take some Slim Fast and put it in the fridge until lunch? That will make up for the calories at breakfast.

Tinka said...

Sorry I have been MIA lately and probably will be missing a lot until after the holidays. Tina, I can add one to the list. "You know you are old when it takes a day what used to take an hour". That one is no joke.
Have a great Saturday everyone. Love you all.

Good Morning!!

TINA: I love 'everything hurts..and what doesn't hurt..doesn't work'..sooo true at my advanced age. I remember my mom saying 'everything hurts' and my sister and I would roll our eyes and say 'Everything? Please..' now I know exactly what she meant!

MO: Thank you for breakfast Beautiful! You know you're getting old when you have to decide if bacon will have an effect on your cholesterol..and if it's worth it! I say YES!! :D

JODI: Enjoy breakfast with your son..did you order bacon? ;D Oh and by the way..squeak squeak.. :D

DI: Dueling ailments..LOL!!

BARB: Have a great time with your baby boy..I hope the Raiders can pull out a win for him!! :D

You know you're getting old when you curl up to watch a CG movie and wake up almost 4 hours later!

ZONA...that sounds like a very fun afternoon...delicious, too!

TINKA...you may think I am a young chick, but I feel like an old hen! Take a few Slim Fasts for the rest of the weekend!

Splat!

Shirley(NCC-1701) said...

Maureen I guess CG isn't as interesting as you thought if you sleep through his movies!

I believe my body is that of an 89 year old, however my mind is about 32.

Tinka said...

Good Morning Zona - I hope the blogger doesn't start picking on you now. I was beginning to think it was a conspiracy to keep me off the blog.
Have a great time making cookies. I am going to make my mince tarts after my nap.

Tinka said...

Shirley - Yes your mind and wit is as sharp as any 30 year old.

Tinka said...

Tina - You know you are old when you realize that your mother would be 100 years young if she were still here on earth. My mom would have turned 100 two days ago.
Two days before she had her fatal fall we were sitting out in the sunshine and talking about the fact that she would be 97 on her next birthday. I told her if she made it to 100 she would get a letter from our Queen. "Then I will live to be 100" she replied. Oh what a party we would have had. Instead we took a pretty wreath and Christmas tree to her gravesite and said a few prayers. I bet she had a fantastic party in Heaven with my father, sister and all the other friends and relatives we have up there.

Maureen - I just had one of your Slim Fasts and I slipped a couple away for the weekend. Thank you for being so kind to an elderly 36 year old.

It's time for Happy Hour. I am off to my soft warm bed with my soft warm freshly groomed "fur babies".

See you all later. Love, Tink

TINKA...my mom would have turned 92 on her next birthday...12.22
My dad would have turned 100

My Father would have been 91 on his next birthday....

I dreamed about him the other night..yeah...couldn't see him very well for all the smoke and flames though...

Month: thanks for the yummy pancakes and remembering that I love them. U r very young and thoughtful!!! AND congrats on first place today.

Tina: Well I relate to just about all those sayings and it is not always fun. I do nap more lately even after getting up late each day.

Zona: got a laugh out of ur blog yesterday. These smart phones aren't always so smart.

Tink: Hope u had a good nap and cooking afternoon

Shirley: u look young to me-- a mere babe!!!

Jodi, how is that shopping going?

Hope everyone has a good weekend. AND I hope we can somehow beat the Patriots tomorrow

Michael said...

glares at Dianne...

oh I just realized Dianne prolly didn't see me..... eyesight's going...bless her heart....

Tinka said...

Michael - I did see you but your post today was unusually small. I am sure that is why Dianne didn't notice you. Please don't glare at Dianne. She is my good friend and if it doesn't hurt her feelings it does hurt mine. Please be a good boy today. Remember Santa comes in just 7 more sleeps. You don't want to upset the jolly old guy. He won't leave you that Porsche you have been wanting this year.

Tinka said...

Hi Dianne - Remember you will always be younger than I even if it is only by a few months. LOL

My first batch of mince tarts are baking. It smells like Christmas. If only my back would co-operate and stop aching while I am rolling out the dough.

There goes my "dinger". Time to take them out of the oven.

Hi Guys!

You know you're getting old when your younger sister comes over and reminds you that first you have to decide which cookies you want to make..then make a shopping list..and then actually shop for the ingredients for the cookies..sigh..we will be baking tomorrow...

I hope some of you will come visit me at the home..and sing to me..and blow bubbles.... ;D

Better go make dinner..hot dogs in a bun or in crescent rolls..decisions..decisions.. ;D

Tinka said...

Zona - I will have my hot dog in a bun please. Jack makes hot dogs fancy with special wieners, rolls and special cheese etc. They are excellent but I would never tell him that I prefer the way my daddy used to make them. He made them with ordinary buns. He toasted and lightly buttered them. They were then smothered in onions with just a little mustard. Ah, simple but perfect.

We owned a grocery store when we first came West. As well as groceries Dad also sold freshly made Hot Dogs. On the top of the store was a large sign. HOT DOGS 10cents. As my sister and I would be walking the mile home from school we could smell the hot dogs cooking long before we saw the store. We would get home (the store was the front end of our house) and have a hot dog or piece of Moms' apple pie topped off with a bottle of cold Orange Crush. Nothing tasted better to a hungry child and we were famished by the time we got home. I think I am living in the past today. Isn't that another sign of growing old????

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi MICHAEL---I'm really sorry I missed u. Don't be mad and glare at me. It was an innocent elderly mistake. Ok, now I'm hugging u. (((hug hug)))))

MO You are young and spry and, oh, so beautiful at first today.

Just_Lin said...

HOdi You don't know anything about happy hours, right? I always think a nap sounds good but I never take one unless I'm really sick.

Just_Lin said...

MO2 I was so busy having my Bloody Marys that I forgot to thank you for breakfast. What a fine spread it is, too.

Just_Lin said...

Tinka I loved that story about your dad's hot dogs. What a great memory. I could almost smell them, too.

Just_Lin said...

Zona Yes, ingredients are required. LOL

Just_Lin said...

Shirley You splatted late today. I hope all is okay in your corner of the world. Don't worry about your age. In the first place, you aren't that old...still a youngster. Secondly, you're sharp as a tack.

Just_Lin said...

Michael Here's hoping you have better dreams from now on.

I assume that is Comet and Vixen being naughty little reindeer.

Dianne Good luck to your Broncos on Sunday. Don't know if I'll get a chance to watch our game. Grandkids are here. We all went and got a tree today but only have lights on it so far. Sunday we will be getting the decorations on it. I made a big dinner of roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. I baked and made fudge during the last two days. I'm exhausted!
