On the phone recently, Tinka and I were reminiscing about the days when we went to drive-in movies. That conversation has brought back great memories. In the summer, as a child and adolescent, going to a drive-in movie was one of my favourite things to do. I remember as a kid, waiting all day for it to get dark so we could go. I loved being allowed to wear my pj’s into the car and snuggling in to the blankets and sleeping bags in the backseat. Popcorn never tasted as good as it did at a drive-in! I remember annually on the Labour Day long weekend, a night or two before school started, the local drive-in would show “To Sir With Love” and because it was one of my Mom’s favourite movies, we would go every year. And each time she would be so entranced by the movie, that when it ended she would drive away with the speaker on the window!
I remember as a teenager, sneaking friends in through the fence and then all of us sitting on the hood of the car or around the car. Sometimes we even watched the movie! Once when we had about eight people squashed into a Volkswagen, the horn got stuck right in the middle of a steamy scene and everybody went in eight different directions at the same time in that crowded vehicle trying to get it unstuck.
Oh those were the days!
Did you love drive-in movies too? What are your favourite (g-rated!!!!!) drive-in memories!!!!

VIG: Loved to go to drive-ins when I was a kid! Wracking my brains to remember my favorite movie, though. Hmmmm...
Congrats on 1st Whabbear!
Vig I have never been to a drive in movie so I got nothing to con tribute to TOTD. Sounds fun though. Have a nice day everyone!
Morning Glories!
Whabbear got first! LOL
Shirley second wahoo!
Seems we now have a morning race!
Vig: Love the Drive in and I miss them!
I remember wearing my PJ's too when I was a kid. We would play on the playground equipment and run like fools until the movie started. I think this was a plot to get us to fall asleep as quickly as possible! LOL
Then we would snuggle in and there was always a couple of cartoons first. Does anyone remember Chilly Willy or Woody Woodpecker??
The last movie I remember seeing at the drive-in when I was a kid was Mary Poppins.
I too went to the drive-in as a teenager and even worked at our local drive-in when I was in high school. Oh the excitement of trying to sneak in alcohol and other substances that weren't served in the snack bar! ROFLMAO
Searching for the cars you recognized, to see whose windows were all steamed up and thinking of ways to torture them. LOL
Those were the days!
Good Morning One and All!
VIG: GREAT BLOG!! Oh sure, I remember going to the drive-in when I was a child!! There was one located about a mile from our house. My folks got us all dressed in our pajamas, my sister and I had our stuffed animals and my mom brought some snacks. I couldn't have been more than nine, which would have made my sister 6 and my brother about 11. We were so excited to be going to the movies at night! I don't think my parents thought it out too well though..the double feature they picked was "Marooned" and "Ice Station Zebra"...two of the more boring movies released that year!
I still remember going though, and the memory is definately a happy one. Thanks VIG for bringing that back to me.
Congrats on FIRST BEAR!!!
Morning SHIRLEY!
LYNND: OMG! I do the worst Woody Woodpecker impression evah...but now I'm going to be thinking of that theme song all day!! LOL
VIG: I remember when Mr. Z and I lived in California. We went to one of the last drive-ins still operating in San Bernardino to see "Top Gun". We threw blankets and pillows in the back of our truck and settled in to watch the movie...and I immediately fell asleep!! In my defense, I had worked all day!! LOL!!
Happy Wednesday!!
Good morning..

Congrats on 1st bear!
Good morning shirley, lynn d, zona, mek and tinkatia!!
When I was a kid I loved the drive in. So did my brother and sister. We went often. I went back in the early 70s as an adult and it was so uncomfortable to watch a movie that way. LOL I think my favorite was watching the walking hot dogs in the food ad at intermission!
Happy to be back here. I don't know if I have time to catch up on all the blogs I missed, but I'll do my best. Not today tho, taking my 4 yr. old granddaughter to see the American girl doll movie.
Have a great day owls!!
Good Morning Grandma Moses. I am back. My babies are fed and have run around the backyard. I am dying to read the blog so I am off again. I love anything VIG writes.
^&*%^%*&*!!!
Foaded first thing in the morning and I had a long ass post too!
Congrats on 1st Bear
Hello Hooters
Loved the drive-in, still operates outside of my hometown. We would get to go to the Dog'N'Suds drive in for dinner and then the movie at least once or twice a summer.
As teenagers we would pack a car as full as we could (including the trunk) and then bring in cherry brandy and mix it with the big cups of 7-up we bought there.
Lynn, I loved Woody Woodpecker and I saw him last summer! We were in MN in a wooded area and there he was! I about shit. I had no idea there really was a bird that was that big and looked just like him. I spent half of my vacation looking for him again this year.
Ok, I am going to hit publish and hope for the best.
Hope everyone has a great day!!
Great blog VIG! We went to the drive in a lot when I was a kid and my father drove away with the speaker more than once...
My Ex and I used to go to an old drive in DE when we were first married. We moved away for a couple of years and were surprised to see the drive in was still operating when we moved back. We decided to go one night with another couple even tho we didn't recognize any of the movie titles. It was a cheap night out, only $2.00 a car. Imagine our surprise when the movies turned out to be pornos!!!
Good Morning Owls!
Wtg Congrats on being the early bird Bear.
Great blog VIG! Thanks.
I loved the drive-in as a kid an adult.
I don't think we have any around here anymore.
See ya'll later. Have a great day :o) xox
I have tons of R rated movies I remember seeing, but none G LOL
Good Morning Goldie and Scirish.
What a great blog VIG and what memories it evokes. Where-ever did you find that video? It is priceless. I can just see you snuggled down in your PJ's as a child. I have so many memories of drive-ins I don't know where to start. So perhaps I will with a history lesson of drive-ins in Victoria.
It was a sad day in 1979 when the Tillicum Outdoor Theatre was torn down to make room for a huge mall. It was still popular with families and frequently had dawn-to-dusk extravaganzas. Those were popular with the teen-agers because they were usually horror shows. I was sad when they closed the Victoria drive-in because then we all had to drive up island to Cassidy if we wanted the outdoor viewing experience. Cassidy theatre was the last one on Vancouver Island. It closed in 1992. I think the drive-in movie was however a memory of the 1950's and 1960's.

25 - Well it really isn't #25 if you count the deleted post. #24 posted twice.
I think I will read the comments before I talk about my memories.
good morning feathered friends1
i was supposed to be off today, but I have to go into work anyhow...so a quick post!
WHABBY...congragts on first! Is that your first time???
VIG...fun blog. Only went to the drive in a few times as a kid. I remember seeing Planet of the Apes there. But I enjoyed the playground more! Saw a porno once at the drive in...the screen is way to big to see those there!!
Better get dressed and head into the office.
Later gators!
Good Night Zona - Thanks for the long talk on the phone last night. I didn't realize until we got off the phone how long we had talked. It was almost ten and getting dark. If we had done that 15 years ago, we would have had to take out a loan to pay for it. Long distance calling is so great now.
I hope you sleep tight until long into the afternoon.
I am not going to write long posts as the foad monster is alive and kicking this morning.

When I was a teen-ager, going to the drive-in movie was our most favourite dating activity on a Saturday night. My life at the time was very similar to the T.V. show "Happy Days". First we would go the the "White Spot" which was the most popular drive-in restaurant. Hamburgers were 25 cents, pop and chips were each a dime. If your date was rich you could get the most expensive thing on the menu. That was 'chicken-in-a-basket' for $1.25. I might have had that twice in all those teen years. Then we headed out to get in the line-up for the show. There were always long line ups to get in. Four in a car was comfortable. You paid by the car, not by the number of passengers, so sometimes there would be six of us. The four in the back were squeezed in but didn't seem to care. I don't remember any of the titles (and yes we were there to watch the show) but I remember the commercial for treats that played until it was dark and then played again in the intermission. By the time you had watched the dancing popsicles and the little boy and girl eating popcorn and ice cream, you just had to have more to eat. The boys paid for everything in those days so they would get out and into the line-up to bring the girls back some treats. I was always happy I was born a girl because no-one had jobs (except maybe paper routes) and yet the boys were expected to pay for everything. It was the custom and no-one challenged that until the 60's. Some nights it would rain so everyone would have their windshield wipers on. Of course at the end there were always a few cars with dead batteries. We did forget a couple of times to remove the speakers but we always tried to remember. It was very embarrassing to hand in a broken off speaker. Ah the memories of those years. They were precious.
Good Morning Maureen - I think the nest has emptied out. I will check my messages and come right back.

Good Morning Owls!
VIG: Fun blog! I remember going to the drive-in when I was a kid, but I don't remember what movies I saw. I remember the playground in front of the big screen though and the funny commercials of the hot dogs dancing and doing back-flips. :)
Another quick post from work so forgive me for not having time to list everyone, but I am waving Hello to all of you!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
The nest is empty and not much is happening at myspace. I guess it's the dog days of summer.
I know my children have wonderful memories of the drive-in. We went so often. I loved it because I could take my toy poodles with me. I love going anywhere that I can take Tango and Tia. There aren't many places except for Butchart's Gardens and my Mom's lodge where I can take them along. I hate leaving them behind.
In 1970 we bought a Ford Camper Van. It was perfect for taking to the Drive-In because it was just like taking our house with us. It had curtains so we were very private. It had a sink, stove, fridge, beds, drawers full of clothes and a little bathroom. We went so many Saturday nights I couldn't begin to count them. The kids and dogs loved those nights. We would make down the beds, fill up the fridge and off we would go. In those days there were always triple features. We watched the first show while eating all the treats from the fridge. Then my son and his dad would sit in the front seats and watch the other two. I would get the baby, the toddler and myself ready for bed and we would crawl into bed with the poodles and listen to the second movie until we were asleep. It was way into the middle of the night before the 3 movies ended. Frequently, my husband would just drive to the nearest campsite and we would wake up there in the morning. I liked that because it was hard to wake up and carry in three children still asleep while I was only half awake. We continued going to the drive in until it closed. I think once we drove to Cassidy but it just wasn't the same experience. My children will always have fond memories of the Drive-In Movie.
Good Morning Amicus. I hope you have a good day at work.
Thank you VIG for taking me down memory lane.
I will go and have my shredded wheat and tea now. I enjoyed my orange juice as I typed.
I will be back when the nest fills up.
Have a great Wednesday, everyone.

Good morning!
Whab congrats on first!
VIG great blog! I loved going to the drive in as a kid, then as a teen.
My best friend and I and our boyfriends would go pretty often. We would take her dad's Cadillac, and then stop before we got to the drive in. The guys would jump into the trunk and we would only pay for 2 of us.
It was so funny, we would be laughing hysterically when we drove up, sure we would get caught.
There is actually 1 drive in left around here, although I've never been.
MEK are you refinancing or selling?

Hey Owls! Good Wednesday morning!
Whabbear..you got first! Congrats!
Owls, I love your responses to the blog today. Thank you for your kind words! You wrote exactly what I was hoping for...fun memories of fun times about something that is definitely a bygone or childhood memory. I love all your stories...and I loved that dancing hotdog too!
Tink...hope today is a better day! Wish that theatre in Cassidy was still open. I remember going there as a university student.
Tina...happy trails to you! Have fun!
MEK..... Hope today is productive but not too busy!!
Shirley...how about writing about any movie or special event that you saw as a child or a teen-ager that you were excited to be going to?
Zona...nighty night! Sleep tight!
Hope your day is full of yellow, Owls!
Lynn.D...you are fabulous! What a great surprise to find the DVD "Inlaws and Outlaws" in my mailbox yesterday! Thank you soooo much for sending it out! I watched it last night and I was truly amazed by it. I had seen parts of it before on PBS, but to watch it from beginning to end was fantastic. It is incredibly touching and heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time! It is really worth seeing and speaks truthfully to experience around love. I am going to watch it again and then I would be happy to send it on to someone else. You gotta see it, Owls!
Drew Emery...if you get a notice from Google again that your movie has been mentioned in this blog, I just want to say well done, sir! You have made a fantastic movie that touches the heart! Thank you!
Good Morning Owls!
There was a drive-in theatre near where I lived growing up in Maryland and I think it is still there and running. We rarely went though because they didn't show the movies we wanted to see.
My friend's older sister took us once though and we watched a movie called "Zombie". It was creepy and we screamed the whole time, even going overboard to make it more fun. That is my only memory of going there though. I hope that next time I go back to visit it is still open and I can take the kids... unless they are still showing Zombie!
Tink~ I loved hearing your stories about the drive in. It reminded me of the movie Grease. I can see the dancing popsicle and hot dog now. And WOW, don't you miss those prices!!
OK, going to run and take two little boys to get a new Webkinz (oh Tink, you would LOVE those!) and then we are going to have lunch at daddy's work. Then I will be running around picking up birthday cake and balloons and any last minute stuff I forgot to get.
Hope you all have a great day!!
VIG I remember going to the Saturday matinee. We were given a dollar (which was probably our allowance). The movie cost 35 cents. Pop and popcorn were 15 cents each. The money left over was used at the corner store our neighbors owned. 2 for 1 penny candy. Remember those straws that had the sugar stuff in them? I'm sure they weren't good for you but the tasted good. I liked the candy necklaces too.
I don't remember any particular movies. The theater was very noisy. Popcorn was always flying around. It came in cardbosrd boxes that we would flatten and throw around. I do remember the cartoons before the show. Mr. Magoo was a popular one.
Hi..Quick fly-over as we are going to the mtns for the day and night and will be back tomorrow night. I haven't read comments but I will in the car (Mr D is driving)!
I hope today brings comfort and good health to all the owls. MEK: don't over-do today!!
I remember going to the drive-in in my 20's with my two little children and my sil and my little nephew. I went to get us a snack and I couldn't find the car. They had to announce me on the speakers and my sil had to blink the car lights!! As a child we would go on a Thursday for some reason and my dad always brought a bag of carmels and boy was that a treat because we seldom had candy at home. We didn't do this often but I guess enough to stick in my mind...now that you kind of reminded me VIG...GOOD BLOG.
oK..I am off as husband is ready and we are taking our oldest two granddaughters with us. So remember, I will be a lurker today and tomorrow.....so behave!! (ha ha) TINA: Hope you are feeling better today.
Ok..now we are "waiting" for the girls to arrive so I had time to read the posts. SHIRLEY: Sweet Shirley, throwing popcorn boxes around the movie!!!
Our last drive-in was torn down this year to make room for condos. There always used to be a line until it closed and it was a double screen I didn't ever go but we always drove by and tried to guess the movie on the screen.
One time (many years ago) my husband and I took his and my kids to see ET. We put up chairs and sat ourside and within minutes all the kids were asleep and we ended up watching the movie.
Have a fun vacation Tina. Hope you received ms message last night from me.
I really need to go now...bye

50 bye
Dianne-can't-find-the-car-in-Denver I hope you have a fun time. Take some pictures so you can share with us. ((HUGS))
Lynn D and EBJ - we are refinancing - heck, if we were moving, I could use the "packing" as an excuse for the mess!! LOL
Ready or not - I'm done today!! The downstairs is immaculate!! It's scary, really!! LMAO!!
I'm going to relax for a half hour.
OH - and my window for Salvation Army truck is 3-6pm... so, that's my day!!
I'll be back later!!
OH - I know Tina is "unplugged", but I wish you a SAFE and FUN trip!!
Dianne - waiting on the "kids" - in Denver - have a great time in the mtns. - and NO, I did NOT over do!! :-)
Vig I checked the yellow pages on line and found there is one Drive in left in Nova Scotia. It is in Cambridge which is in the valley area. I went to the website and found out that on the 18th, 19th and 20th "Hancock" & "21" are the double feature. These are some of the prices:
$20.00 a carload
$15.00 couples
$8.00 single
$3.75 lg popcorn
$2.00 lg pop
I think that is cheaper than going to a movie theater, at least around here.
Whabbear Hey! Great to see you at #1. You flew in very early today.
Glynis Wow! Your belly must have entered a room a full minute before the rest of you! LOL
VIG Great blog today. Remember how "tinny" the sound was that came out of those speakers. I remember going to the drive in with my family and we would take our own treats. Later, was common to go to the drive-in on a date. It was a fairly social event, as you would visit with friends that you spotted in other cars.
Tina Hope your tooth behaves and you have a great time.
MEK You made me tired just reading about all you got done.
Dianne Wouldn't it have been funny if a whole bunch of people started flashing their headlights at you? LOL
Have fun in the mountains. It was great to talk to you yesterday.
Shirley...I remember those Saturday matinees well. We had them in Kelowna where I grew up. I think ours might have been the whopping cost of fifty cents. They were mostly Disney's....I can remember sobbing wildly over Old Yeller. I think that may have been my first sad movie!
Thanks for researching the current drive-in movie situation in Nova Scotia. It looks to me like there is only one on B.C. as well and it is in Langley (near Vancouver).
There is one being created this summer in Victoria at a local mall that has a 50's theme going on. They are going to have an inflatable screen and show over three nights Grease, An Affair to Remember and an Elvis movie. I thought our local Elvis fan TInk might like to go to that one!
In honor of today's blog, this is a photo of the drive-in we used to go to. It is located in Azusa which is next door to my hometown of Glendora. I was going there WAY before Jurassic Park ever came out!
When I was 4 yrs old, we moved from Florida to Calif. As we drove across the country I still remember looking out the window one night and seeing the image of a movie playing in the sky. I was absolutely astonished as I thought it was quite magical that there were people's faces floating in the air.
Wow, the nest if now full. What fun to read everyone's experiences.
Shirley - Thanks for checking those prices. It does make an interesting comparison to the
"good old day".
I never took my kids to the afternoon matinee. It was always so noisy and popcorn and candy were flying everywhere. I never knew why the owners tolerated it. I take my grandkids to the 5 pm Saturday movie. It is always empty because everyone has something better to do, like eating dinner. When we saw "Shrek" my grandson and I were the only two there. It was great fun.
Tina - Have a great time. Wish we were all with you. I am glad your root canal is behind you now.
Mek - I feel for your experience. I pulled everything off shelves, washed them and rearranged all the the videos and beanie babies. Now where did all the rest of the mess come from? I spent a whole day doing that and now my house is so untidy. I am not sure why. Today is tidy up day because I didn't get it finished yesterday.
Glynis - I watch "Happy Days" or "Grease" and I feel like they are all about my teen age years.
My granddaughter loves "Webkins". I have a couple of them and I registered them on line. We can message back and forth on their little "myspace" type pages. Webkins are like Beanie Babies gone High Tech,
I missed saying Good Morning to the owls that flew in while I was gone: East Bay J, Tina, VIG,
Glynis and Dianne. "Hi" to you.
East Bay J - We were too 'chicken' to sneak kids in but we enjoyed watching others do it. That was after they started to charge for extra passengers. Before that you could fill up the car and just pay for it.
Dianne - People who lived near the drive-in would sit on their porches and watch the movie without sound. I could never see the sense in that but I guess they would imagine what the actors were saying.

I must get some more work done before my nap. Be back in the afternoon.
Vig, great post! I managed to sneak in a couple drive-in shows on the pretense of spending the night at a girlfriends house. I was a "PK" (Preacher's kid)and was told I would surely go to hell if I went!
Diane, I always got lost. I would just wait at the consession stand until I recognized someone who was parked by us and I would follow them lol!
Whabbear~ I do believe this was your virgin debut!
Mo~ROTFLMAO "The screen is too big too see those there" (pornofilms)!!
I'm off to buy a new window air conditioner. Have a good day everyone.

There!
EBJ - :-)
Appraiser has been and gone - said there is NO problem with getting the value that we need - guess it REALLY helps to be the model home and have all those extras!!
:-)
SO - I'm putting my feet up and going to just rest and relax under the Salvation Army truck gets here!!
MEK, one time when I refi'd, I had the house spotless, ready for the pictures.
A couple weeks later, the appraiser sent me the report, and there in the copies of the pictures was the laundry basket sitting on the bed, full of folded laundry.
I had forgotten to put it away and left it on the bed. Of course he just took the picture, didn't move the basket or anything.
I was so embarassed!
74
75!!!
I remember also that they served pizza at the drive in. So you would be in the middle of a great scene and all of a sudden across the speakers would be "pizza #9, Pizza #9" Used to just crack us up watching to see who went slinking into the concession booth to get the pizza, then people would honk when they came out with it!
Bored out of my mind at work today. NOBODY is calling me and I am caught up on my paperwork.
Happy Wednesday Afternoon Everyone!!!
It sure has been awhile since I have last posted. But, I have been thinking of all of you daily!
Life has just been, well LIFE! And I am sure you all know what that means.
Miss Laurie had her MRI on the
7th, and will see her Cardiologist on the 29th, and then we will set up a game plan for the surgery. As much as I want to get it over with, I am hoping it won't interfere with the BABB at EBJ's! I sure want to meet you all.
VIG~ oh what memories I too have of drive-ins! They start when I was little and we would pop our own corn and put it in brown paper sacks with REAL butter, which made eating it so much messier! No plastic bags in the 50's! We would always get there before dark so we could play in the playground in front of the big screen, and make hand puppets and funny faces on the screen! Then as it got darker all the kids would run back to their respective cars and snuggle in and be asleep way before the movie was over, sometimes even before it began!
Then of course came the High School years, when we would all go to the Drive-In in Baldwin Park just off the San Bernadino FWY, I think they refer to it as the 10 FWY now.
(J/L, you MUST remember that Drive-In!) Who ever remembers what the movies were????
My first date with my husband, Larry was at that one in Septmember 1970. It was a double feature, Mash and Rosemary's Baby! I was so nervous. I didn't know Larry real well, and of course all he wanted to do was make out, and I did too, but being the "demure young lady" that I was, I played hard to get! That didn't last too long, because we left LA less than two months later for Northern California and got married in November! I obviously "gave-in" very quickly!
Well, off to run some errands and see if Miss Laurie will eat something for lunch. She is home tday from her Day Program, due to another restless night.
Till later, Peace and Love, DonnaJean
Happy Humpday y'all!!
I remember drive-ins!! I barely recall going, but remember them lol
I also know that we lived in a place where we could climb on a fence, and see a movie haha
There is actually a drive-in theatre in my town, and my Aunt and I have been meaning to go, and STILL have not gone in the year's time that I've been here! lol
It's called "Dude's Drive-in" HAHA
weird!
Congrats on first Whabbear!
I made a "Root BEAR float" yesterday and thought of you..Mine was minus the bear though! ROFLMAO
Whabbear, I read "wracking" as "whacking"! OMG LMAO

OH! I have to plead guilty to driving off one time with one of the drive-in speakers (the one that you had to hook onto the car window!)
Hey everyone! Just been kinda busy..
VIG...I love drive-ins! The 2 that we had are both gone now. There is one about an hour away in Newberg, but we have never driven over there to go see a movie. We drive past it all the time when we go to the beach. It's huge! With something like 4 screes! I may just have to beg hubby to take me on a date there some Friday or Saturday night this summer!
We went as a kid all the time. I remember seeing Bambi and Jungle Book, The Sting, Odd Couple, Love Story. As a teen we went a lot too. Mostly scary movies like Cat People and Phantasm. I remember my friends older sister screamed during Phantasm and tossed her bucket of popcorn into the air and all over the car! Good times!
HAPPY B-DAY TO ADAM & BEN!!!!!
Just Lin~ You are way too funny about my pregnancy belly. It was just strange because people would just stare at me and then ask "are you carrying twins?" and then followed up with "I knew it!"
If I could have reached them, I would have smacked them. HA.... just kidding.

Good Afternoon Owls!
Dianne: I read your first post and I thought it said you went to the drive-in in the 20's. I had to go back and re read it as I did not know they had them then! LMAO Whew relieved to know it said in my 20's!
Vig: You welcome! I am so happy you have enjoyed that wonderful Documentary!
MEK: I have to clean the frigging house if we refi! Crap I might as well sell and move!
I need to go hop in the shower! I will see ya'll later!
VIG - It has been absolutely serendipitous that you posted your blog on Drive-Ins this morning. In our local paper today there is a whole page devoted to the Drive In Outdoor Theatre. For three Wednesday, starting tonight they are putting up a giant inflatable screen in the same parking lot where the original screen sat for so many years. Tonight they are showing "Grease". On July 23, they are showing "An Affair to Remember" and on July 30 it will be "Jailhouse Rock. The admission is free but they are raising money for the SPCA and other charities. The memories evoked in this article are pretty much the same as we have been writing about all day; including people driving away with the loudspeaker still attached to the car window. It says that won't be a problem this time because the sound will be transmitted on an FM frequency.
They are trying to be as authentic as possible. It ends with "At least now the younger members of the family will get some idea what all the fuss was about"
I would love to go because I could take Tango and Tia. I am afraid, however, it might somehow tarnish my beautiful memories of the Drive-In Movie.
Hi everyone. Hope everyone is having a good day. VIG, great blog. I remember going to the drive-in when I was little but never went as I got older (because it was shut down for a bit). Now I just prefer the comfort of my own home. (However, I could be enticed to go if I was with a special "someone")! It would be cozy! (But so is a couch)!
I just wanted to update everyone on my life. Bruce dragged me to mediation and nothing got settled. I even felt we came up with a good deal, but then Bruce changed his mind and decided that he didn't want it that way (because with Bruce it's his way or NO way)! Even the mediator threw up his hands and said then it would be up to the courts to decide! I could see the mediator was just as frustrated! I told the mediator that this is what I am constantly up against. I said that if Bruce does take this to court that he had better pay for it all because I do not want ANY changes made!!! But I DO want him to stop creating problems and grow up and move on with his life so I can move on with mine!!!
WHEW! Sorry about that...but man did that feel good to say!
I have an incredible headache right now (I wonder why)! I have to go to Ashford University in the AM (at the Clinton, IA campus) to straighten out the financial aide mess and to ask why I still need another YEAR of classes before I can be certified (esp. since I have my Bachelor's Degree)!!!
AAAAHHHHH!!!
I'm calling it a day!
90....OK...NOW I am! ; )
Night night!
Oh..it is soooo...nevermind, not complaining..I forgot..must be the heat..;)
GOLDIE: I'm sticking to blaming the heat, cuz I thought you wrote that you went to "Dog and Studs" and I was gonna ask if they were franchised...;)
LYNND: eheheh-eheh, eheheh-eheh...eheheheh!!! ALL DAY!!!! LOL
LOVEY: My brother was really late coming home one night when he was about 14..my dad found him and two of his friends watching the R rated movie at the drive-in..they were peeking over the fence!!
MO: Hope your day at work yields big tips..and you don't come home too tired!
TINKA: Your memories of the drive- in are so heartwarming..love them!!
SHIRLEY: I remember going to one Sat. matinee as a pre-teen. It was a promotion for a local kid's TV show. The movie started..and it turned out to be X rated..first scene!! Never saw a movie begin and end so fast! I don't think any of us knew what we even saw..although I do remember it. ;)
DIANNE: Have fun in the mountains. I promise I'll behave! Yup...;)
VIG: I could never watch half of the Disney movies of that era..especially the one's involving dogs..they always made me cry. Old Yeller..oh my gosh..never even attempted to get through one!
MARY/MI: I meant to tell you before how much I LOVE your avatar!
MEK: YAY!! :)
TINA: Be sure that you get lei'd!!
HI and HEY to everyone...time to go swimming!!
JENNIFER: Sorry you are going through all this...I hope your headache goes away soon. {{{HUGS}}}

Go Tink- it will be a new memory!
Jennifer, sorry Brad is being such a dickhead, but glad you are not willing to take it! Put up a fight girlfriend and make him sorry he ever messed with you. Sure hope your headache goes away and you feel better. Good look with the financial aid mess.
Flapping a wing to you all!
LMAO a Zona and dog & studs!! Sadly it is long gone, we always hung out there as teens looking for the studs!
Hi Barb!! Thanks for the birthday wishes for the boys. I will let them know... or better yet, I will let them read it.
Too funny about your friend screaming and the popcorn flying... we did that too! What is up with drive-ins showing scary movies?
Hi Joey! I am posting b-day photos. And YUM on the rootbeer float! I might have to make one of those at the party later.
VIG - Great blog!!! I love the drive-in. It was a HUGE treat to go when we were kids. My parents would put us in our jammies, pack up some snacks, and off we would go in the station wagon!!! We would pull into the spot backwards and open the back end of the car so we could just watch from there. Mom and Dad always brought along lawn chairs to sit in. As I got older, the one time I especially remember was after I had graduated high school. I took my baby brother and a friend of his. Well, of course we had confiscated in some special brew (I know naughty, naughty, naughty!!!) The worst part was getting pulled over in the City of Monona for squealing my tires coming down of the ramp at Hwy 51!!! I thought holy crap...gonna really get it. Especially with 2 minors in the car. Thankfully, he just gave me a warning.
I'm gonna have to research whether there is any drive-in theaters around here. I would love to pack the kids up and share that experience with them!!!
I hope everyone has a great night. I'm finally breaking down and going to the chiropractor tomorrow. Sadly, the trampoline incident is getting the best of me!!! If I don't keep taking 4 ibuprofens at a time and icing my back, it totally feels like back labor.
**waving** HI G!!!!
Jodi...what is this about a trampoline incident????? I missed something......
This is Pink Tink signing off for a couple of days. I don't know how I will be able to live without my computer but Saturday I ordered a MacBook laptop from Apple.com. It arrived in 3 days by Fed Ex. The shipping was free which was nice. My Mac Techies are coming over in a couple of hours and will take away my Intel Mac and my new MacBook. They will transfer all my mail, myspace etc onto the MacBook so that it will all be in both places. They will make my house wireless and bring both machines back tomorrow night. I will then be able to take my MacBook to meetings and be able to keep my MacBook at my bedside so I can check on the Night Owl's in the middle of the night. I will no longer have to trudge downstairs if I feel like getting on-line in the wee hours. If anyone has a message for me please send it in the next hour. After that I will be computer-less which almost feels like being homeless.
I have to get busy getting ready for them so I can't respond to any comments. I have read them and I think they are all great.
VIG - Another great blog. kuddos.
good evening feathered friends!
long day today as i worked about 6 hours (on my day off) at the office job. we are short staffed and so much to get done. at least i got 6 hrs of overtime! it may kill me, but the money is the reason i went in. tomorrow is both jobs and prolly some more overtime on friday. i will be working 12 straight days before i get a day off. oh well.
is anyone watching that dance show that is on now? i have to say that the judge, mary, bugs the crap outta me! she is sooooooo damn obnoxious!
Maureen hi! I'm not watching the show tonight but I totally agree with you about Mary. Her laugh just goes right through you. And that scream she does...aaahhhh!
Flying through really quickly. Tink We'll miss you and the little brown owl. See you in a couple of days. (((HUGS)))
Jennifer Just remember, this too shall pass. One day this will all be behind you. (((HUGS)))
Maureen I hope you don't get run down from all the working. The over-time is always nice, though.
Maureen I forgot to give you (((HUGS)))! How rude of me! I don't watch that dance show but Mary annoyed me just on the promos for it and she is one reason I didn't want to watch it. Who is she anyway?
***ATTENTION KMART & WALMART SHOPPERS***
I just heard from TINA..she and her family are safe on the ground in HAWAII!!!!
DIANNE: TINA says that she misses you most of all...but I really think she meant to say she misses me most. ;)
***END OF ANNOUNCEMENT***
TINK: I'll keep in touch by phone! I just got my bill..and the new plan works..it really works!! YAY!!
MO: {{HUGS}} get some rest tonight!
HI J/LIN!!
NUH UH...TINA misses me the most ;)~ lol
SHIRLEY and JUST LIN...isn't she the most annoying of all reality show juges? LOL. At least Simon and Paula are somewhat endearing!!
JODI: I hope that the visit to the chiropractor will help and you'll be humming and painfree in no time!! Gentle {{hugs}}!! Oh, and another SWAK! :)
Jodi, My back hurt just thinking about yours!! I have had a lot of pain in different parts of this old body and I can tell you back pain is the worst! One time I took 3 vicodon (sp?)at work! It didn't help at all. I was in tears and they wouldn't let me go home!
Jennifer~I have been there. You need to give yourself some alone time to empty your mind of him, He can be toxic to you. (make sense?)
Mo~ As long as I am being Dr Phil LOL!! I was just starting to feel bad for you until you mentioned the pool! Really, relax and take that dip!
Jodi, loved your post!
Tinka~ Hurry back!
Storming here, I may lose power
I absolutely love going to the drive-in. We still have one and I love it!
I will comment about it more after my evening walk.
Great blog VIG!
Zona, Hooray! Thanks for the update.
Hey hooters!
MR. EBJ is working swings tonight, so I have a rare evening to myself.
I think Tina misses me more than anyone! ;)
Jodi, hope your back gets better. I still think it's cool that you did the trampoline, tho!
Pinka, I will miss your posts. I was trying to send you a Myspace message earlier today, but got foaded off there again.
Jennifer, sorry for the frustration an ex can bring. Mine was a jerk but, we didn't have any kids, so he did finally go away. He did make life miserable for some time, tho.
My sassy birdy Poe is calling for MR. EBJ, he says his name over and over. I tell him "daddy is at work" and Poe tells me to shut up!
VIG thank you again for the fun topic today, and the great memories it brought back!
Geez by the sound of some of the cars going by I would say the Indy 500 has moved into town! When did it become cool to have the loudest car?
Maureen Paula is up there too for bad judges. IMHO.
Zona don't you think Tina will miss us all equally?
Jodi- I told you not to use a trampoline during sex! Hope the back gets better. ;)
The drive-in by Monroe is still open. If all else fails, load up the kiddies and go there!!
Hey MO- love the dance show, but Mary is like nails on a chalkboard. Don't work too hard!!
125!
Mo: Sending big ((((HUGS))))! I remember doing 12 day stretches. They would kill me now!
PS I think Tina misses me the most as I lovingly call her WHORETINA!LMAO I am very happy to hear she and her family have arrived safely!
Jodi: I feel for you girl! Keep resting OK? I hate it when my back acts up!
Ok got to go will be back in the morning!
Hey all...I loved your stories today! They made me want to take the four hour drive including the ferry to outside of Vancouver to the only drive-in relatively close by. Thanks for all the nice comments about the blog! And thanks for your great drive-in memories!
Whabby:
Congrats on First!
Vig:
Thank you so very much for todays blog, it is soooo appreciated...
I loved drive-in movies as a child, what I loved the most was going in my PJ's with my pillow and feeling so comfy in the car! It is def a great memory, thks for allowing me to remember something I had so forgotten!
Zona:
Glad Tina arrived safely, tell her hello, and to enjoy her trip...I shall wait for her return to be a "crackwhore" once again!
Jennifer:
You can vent here all you want, so sorry Bruce is being a stubborn ex. Hang in there!
Zona:

Tinka:
You will be missed, and I look forward to your return, keep in touch with your owl friends, so they can keep us updated...
Mo:
I am so sorry they are working you to your very core, however OT is good, so that is a plus!
♥♥♥
My parents took us to the drive-in all the time when we were little. Boy, did my sister and I love it. We played on the playground until the movie started. Then we would sit in the back of the car with a big grocery sack filled with popcorn that my mom made. Those were great family moments.
Now we take our children and they feel the magic in the air too at the drive-in.
I love how our drive-in is surrounded by a corn field.
Did EastBay J say her husband is a swinger? hmm......
Hi Gang.
We still have a drive in about 6 miles away. Gosh, haven't been there in ages.
All by myself...don't wanna to be, all by myself anymore

Have a good night Bear !
Thanks! Nitey-night to you and all the night owls!
... trying to be last as well as first!
And yes, it was my first. Zona was incredibly gracious and removed one of her posts a little while ago so I could be first that day, but it really belonged to her.
You might not make last tho.......lol
Well Bear, I have never been one to be gracious, as you have mentioned. In fact , you usually use the word edgey.
