Yesterday, Carol wrote a beautiful blog in which she talked about a group of seven special stars, named after her aunts and uncles, that her Mom always looks for in the darkness just before dawn. Carol noted that her Mom cannot see these stars all the time, because the makeup of the pre-dawn sky changes with the seasons, but the “Group of Seven” always swings back into view eventually.
How does that work, owls? What’s going on in the sky that makes pre-dawn stars come and go with the seasons?
Let me see if I can answer this question via astrology, a topic we’re all familiar with. We all have an astrological sign. Coincidently, mine happens to be Cancer, the July sun sign. Your sign is either Cancer too, or one of the others: Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, or Gemini. Most of us can rattle off our astrological sign in a heartbeat; indeed, as reflected by that clichéd pick-up line, “What’s your sign”, many of us deem our sign to be an important piece of information about ourselves.
But what are astrological signs, really? To truly understand them, we’re going to have to look at some familiar “landmarks” from a new and different perspective.
Most everybody knows that their sun sign corresponds to a particular constellation in the sky. Since people born today are Cancers, when I talk about looking at familiar landmarks, you would be forgiven for thinking that I’m going to start with the constellation Cancer, the Crab.
The trouble is, you can’t see the Crab right now, because Cancer is located in the daytime sky, right smack where the sun is (that’s why the astrological constellations are know as “sun signs”). Once night falls, other astrological (or more precisely, zodiacal) constellations ARE visible. Suppose you go outside during the next couple of nights, maybe about an hour and a half after sunset. Look for the Big Dipper, and then trace out an imaginary arc that stretches from where the dipper’s handle is pointing. You should come to a bright orange star; that is Arcturus. Even further down the imaginary arc is another bright star, Spica. Spica lies in the astrological sign of Virgo, the Maiden. Spica and Virgo may actually be pretty hard to see, as they will be close to the western horizon. However, below and east of Virgo is the prominent and well defined Scorpius, the Scorpion, and beyond that, the teapot-shaped Sagittarius. They should be easier to spot.
But wait, you’re saying. The constellations I’m babbling about correspond to astrological signs for people whose birthdays are coming up this fall. If the sun is in the vicinity of Cancer right now, it must be shifting to the vicinity of these other constellations a couple of months from now. And if that is true, the sun must be moving along a line that connects these constellations.
It is certainly the case that the sun appears to move along such a line (known as the ecliptic), with two interesting consequences. To describe them, let’s return to our hypothetical outdoor observations, sometime in the next couple of days, but this time I’ll ask you to imagine going out right at sunset, when the sun is barely above the horizon. Imagine, every day, the sun has moved a little way along the line that links the astrological constellations. If so, then every successive day the sun is “sneaking up” on the next zodiacal constellation in the yearly sequence; right now the “next in line” is Leo. Leo is another constellation that is not visible at the moment; it is too close to the sun, and is swallowed up in the twilight glare just above and to the left of where the sun sets. In another week or so, the Sun will have moved out of Cancer and will be directly co-located with Leo. At that point, it will be Virgo and Libra that are slipping into the Sun’s glare, and disappearing from the night sky.
But what the movement of the sun taketh away from the early evening sky, it giveth back to the early morning sky! Right now, before sunrise, the constellations that the Sun has recently left behind, like Gemini, and Taurus, and Aries the Ram (the Spring astrological signs, in other words), are becoming visible. As the Sun gradually moves ever farther away from them, they become more and more visible in the morning sky, before the sun rises. Another way of making this point is to note that just before sunrise, were you to go out and look toward the east, a little sliver of sky would be revealed to you, that had not been visible the night before.
Day after day, the sun constantly “captures” (swallows up) a small sliver of the night sky lying to the left of itself, and continually “releases” (makes visible) a sliver of sky down and to the right of it.
Are you with me so far, owls? Hang in there… just a little further to go. Of course, we all know that the sun isn’t really moving with respect to the earth; we’ve known that since the time of Copernicus, 500 years ago. So what’s really happening? Let's return to our hypothetical observation in the next couple of nights right at sunset. Picture the Earth constantly moving in a direction sort of consistent with the eastern horizon. However, try to imagine as well that we’re not really traveling in a perfectly straight line toward the east… instead, we’re moving along an enormous curved trajectory that is so big, compared to our perspective, that it forms almost a straight line from one day to the next… a line with just a slight curve to it.
Imagining that slight curve to the trajectory, though, is crucial. It means that, in fact, we are always circling around and heading toward a point in space that is down and to the right of the sun’s location. That’s the case, every single day, every single sunset.
So what does that do to the sun? The to-the-right movement of the Earth “pushes” the sun a little bit up and to the left (to the east). The cumulative result is that the sun forever moves serenely through the astrological constellations, completing its 12-part journey in the space of a year. And that’s why, in the current night sky before midnight, you see the astrological constellations that the sun will enter in the future (Scorpius, Sagittarius), while later on at night, approaching sunrise, they are replaced with the constellations that were collocated with the sun in the near past, but have now been left behind (Taurus and Gemini).
And that’s all there is to it! Stars don’t really move; the Sun doesn’t really move; just the Earth moves. The stars named after Carol’s aunts and uncles have a fixed location with respect to the astrological constellations, so they, too, appear and disappear in the dawn sky depending on where the sun is located on that particular night.
This website, (click here) has a great animated illustration of the how the Earth's movement around the sun produces the apparent movement of the Sun through the astrological sun signs.

Philosophical conundrum: Can you be first if it's your blog? Am I second? LOL!
Owls:
Here's the website referred to at the end o the blog...
Bear, congrats on 1st!!
Thank you for this blog! What would we do without you? I have now been left behind - Gemini. I would have never known this.
Good morning owls!
Whabby: Congrats on 1st and another fascinating blog!
HI Grandma Moses!
Good Morning to all the Owls!
Happy Mamma Mia! Friday! :)
I'm off to work. Hope everyone has a great day!
Whabby thank you so much, that was great!!!!!!
Well, it took the second cup of coffee to get it to all penetrate my brian, but thanks Whabby! I will have to go look for my Virginal sign, I mean Maiden star tonight.
Good morning g/m, iteach, amicus and of course our resident Bear who was 1st!
Good morning!
Congrats on first Whab! And for the totally fascinating blog!
I will check out the web site when I get home from work.
Hi to GM (how was your cruise?), Amicus, Iteach and Goldie! And all who follow!
MR. EBJ is taking Paula to the vet this morning for her 3 month check. Keep your fingers crossed for good blood tests results!
Have a wonderful Friday!
Morning Glories!
Well Whabby got first and wrote the blog!
To solve the conundrum I would define you first for posting about the blog! Ha
I have read your wonderful blog twice Whabbear and may have to go back a third time.
What I took out of it is that I am an Aries and right now my sign shows up before dawn because the earth is moving and it is summer. I think it also explains why I am a morning person! LMAO
I also kept asking myself if we were on the back side of the sun would my sign then show up at night? I know this does not make sense but it is how my little brain works. If we move and the sun does not etc...kind of like how a drain supposedly flows one way here and the other way below the equator. I have never heard if this is true or not.
I have no idea where I am going with this! ROFLMAO
I will have to read it again this afternoon when my brain cells are functioning with some stability.
Splitting this post!
Good morning to the early hooters!
GM, Iteach, Amicus, Goldie and EBJ!
Sacbarb: From Area 51. I am so happy you enjoyed the DVD of Inlaws and Outlaws! It was my pleasure to send it to you! I have no one on my list so if anyone wants to see it maybe they should contact you at MS and you can send it on. Or take it with you to the BABB and spread the love!
Carol: So happy your copy arrived! Really weird yours just got there. For once the one I sent to Canada was very prompt and it took much longer to get to you on the east coast! Have fun with it!
MEK: Hmmmm My relatives showed up in the mail yesterday! Imagine that. They are full of stories about the many hands they have passed through! LMAO!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!
Oh and Mary: Ebay did post huge profits on Wednesday for their second quarter report over last year. Those profits came from Paypal, Skype and the many of the on line Want ad sites they own. Ebay it's self is falling behind. They actually fell a billion dollars below the projected profit that was predicted they would make this quarter. That is why the stock is dropping and many analysts have taken them off of their lists.
I know I know I am paying way to much attention to this issue. I am not even a stock holder.
I'm feeling productive today. I'm off to my classroom to rearrange everything.
See you all later!
Wow I guess everyone is sleeping in this morning!
Have fun Iteach!
Happy Friday!!
GOod morning.....
Whabby - I love when you talk "sky" to us!! and congrats on FIRST!!

I've got a busy day!!
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!

ROFLMAO@Whabby being first on his own blog entry;)
Very interesting Whabbear..Thanks for writing this...I think I'm going to have to read it more than once;)lol
I'm a Cancer too!! :)
Have a great weekend y'all!!
Whabbear Wow! What a great blog! It was a challenge for my little pea brain to handle at a time of day when I'm just hoping to make myself a cup of coffee without spilling anything. Seriously, it was a fascinating blog and you are so good at explaining things. It was a very interesting read. Plus, you arrived first today, too! You must have risen a little bit above and to the left of the other owls! LOL
MEK I'm so glad to hear of your family reunion. Are you sure all of your nieces and nephews are accounted for? LOL
I have to take my car in for an oil change, etc., today. I check back in with you later. I hope you all have smiles today.
Wabbear
great blog! I am a Libra, but of course! :0) I will try to remember to write to you later and tell you why Nowmercy left.
Good morning Grandma Moses.
LynnD
I always enjoy your knowledge about EBay.
Amicus
nice to see you. Thanks for the advice on the router for my pet's nails!
Goldie
Can I offer you a stronger cup of coffee for your "brian". You meant brain right? I'm just teasing you.
EBJ
I hope Paula does well at the vet. I cried when Lilly passed. I can relate to animals sometimes much better than with people. LOL
Howdy again,
I am feeling so good right now! I just wrote a very professional and snarky (but well written ) email to everyone I could think of (at work) outlining my plan to bypass a system that sucks.
I found the loophole and I sent it to every single person I could think of who could use it. I carboned the VP of the client service center and I am now waiting for the fall out. Should be fun!! Don't f** with the Goldie.....
well holy hell Dreama- perhaps several more cups of coffee! My brian would be my brother-in-law and I am not going there....lol
20!

Goldie~ You crack me up!!
Whabbear.. your good! I loved the website. I need visuals to go along with your brain draining posts lol! Thanks for the early stimulation!
MEK, I am proud of you. It is hard pulling away from the 'puter.
JustLynn Thanks for reminding me to make my oil change appointment.
Joey~ Happy Birthday tomorrow!!!
Jodi~Thanks for sharing the Hawaiian owls. Too cute!
Amicus~ Don't work to hard!
Gr-MA MO, mornin, even if it is after 1 here.
iteach, Don't re-arrange too much. You may not find things when school starts lol!!
I'm off to the gross-ery store. Then to our county fair.
The school is closed, because the janitors are waxing the floors.
Darn!
EBJ, my fingers are crossed and I'm wearing a cross my heart bra!
Mary- Have fun at the county fair, please eat a funnel cake for me. Yumm!
MEK- Aug. 5th, wow!
MEK will the weather be cooler in Colorado?
Hi Whabbear! Congrats on 1st and the blog! I am so bad at finding things in the sky. My sense of direction is horrible. I have trouble finding the north star! I would like to be able to find Scorpio (my sign) though.
Good afternoon everyone!
I just got home a little while ago from helping my sister with another birthday cake. This time we made a Ben 10 cake. I want to know when birthday cakes started being so difficult? What happened to the days when you made a simple round cake, put blue icing on for a boy and pink icing for a girl and wrote Happy Birthday So & So? Oh well, it's done and I hope the kid likes it. It wasn't that good but we did the best we could do. I just wish she wouldn't leave it till the day of the party. If she would do it the day before we would have more time in case we run into a problem like we usually do. Ok I'm done with my rant. I'm going now.
Happy Friday afternoon Owls.
Bear: Great blog. I love reading about the sun signs and Sharon and I got to see a lot of them when we went stargazing in Hawaii. It was very exciting to see them through the powerful telescope. In addition to the sun signs, we saw many planets up close and personal. The most exciting was Saturn and the rings, which I had only seen in pictures. It was the 2nd most memorable thing about our trip...the 1st, of course, was meeting Turtle.
Note to self: Don't f*** with Goldie!!! LOL
LynnD: I will take the DVDE to the BABB if I don't hear from anyone sooner. Great idea!
MEK: I had an early dentist appointment today and passed Michael's on the way home...well, I didn't actually pass it. When I got to the cashier I mentioned that I forgot my coupon and he said if I bought the kids craft magazine for $1 it had a coupon for 30% off total purchase. So I saved $30. Yay!!!
Waving a wing to all the other Owls.
Shirley, will you post another picture of that cake?
Way to go SacBarb with your savings today!!!
Whabby, do you have a telescope at home?
Everyone is up from their nap. It is time to get the bubbles out.
40
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.....
Wish I was at the county fair with Mary!
I love the fair!
Sacbarb: I love to hear when you guys save money! Wohooo! What are you going to do with the kids mag???
Ok just flying through have to go Grossery shopping myself! Blech!
Hello everyone!
I just vacuumed the basement and it took forever to vacuum anything.
Does anyone know a good vacuum that sucks really good?
Good Afternoon to Everyone!
WHABBEAR: I am going to fess up..I will need to read your post at least once, maybe twice more to absorb it. I'm a Leo..and to tell you the truth, I think the sun is shining way too brightly on me right now!! ;) I do know I can congratulate you on FIRST!!!!!
GOLDIE: I'm only two hours and ten minutes away from being a Virgin too...;)
EBJ: How did Paula's vet visit go?? How's Poe doing??
LYNND: I hope your relatives told you that I let them stay in the coolest part of the house...the refrigerator!!
MEK: SWAK!! #13 on Friday..I think that will prove to be nothing but good luck!! :)
JOEY: 8 hours and 10 minutes....:)
MARY/MI: Did you see me on your page last night?? I was listening to your music..I tried not to leave crumbs...;)
SACBARB: I passed by a JoAnn's today the same way you passed by a Michael's...LOL!!
ITEACH: Bubbles as in bubbles...or bubbles as in....bubbles?? ;)
Waving HI to AMICUS, GMOSES, SHIRLEY, and J/LIN!!!
ITEACH: My SEARS Kenmore sucks realllllllly good!!!
I almost forgot, Mr. Z and I saw the new "BATMAN" movie today..it is absolutely frickin' EXCELLENT!!!!
JODI: I hope your back is feeling better...
I just got back from having my car serviced and then going gross-ry shopping. While they were working on my car, my brother and I went to my favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch. Now I feel like I need a siesta! LOL It'll be a light dinner for us tonight!
Has anyone besides Joey and I been watching BB 10? I like these people much better than the ones that were on last time.
Zona Glad you had a good time at the movies. Nice and air conditioned, too, I assume.
iteach: Yep. Jodi.
J/LIN: It was wonderfully cool..both movie and theater!!
WHABBEAR: Oh my!!!! ;)

Yippee for me!! :)
Warm your skillet up with oil.
Dip your chicken breasts into ranch dressing.
Then put Italian bread crumbs into a zip lock bag. Place the coated ranch dressing chicken into the bag and shake.
Finally place chicken into skillet. Cook for seven minutes then flip over and cook for an additional seven minutes.
We had it for dinner tonight for the first time and it was soooooooo delicious.
Iteach: Thanks, I love it when I get a bargain. My vacuum sucks, but not in a good way, so I can't help you. Thanks for the easy chicken recipe. I'll give it a try.
LynnD: I have no kids around so I don't need the mag, but it's got some cute craft projects for kids. Can you use it?
Zona: Did you get a coupon too? Congrats on '50' and getting to see Batman.
Bear: You are a baaaadd bear!!! LOL
SACBARB: Sadly, no...but I bought only things that were on sale..does that count??
ITEACH: I think I'll try that recipe tonight! Thanks!!
Iteach - we have a dyson and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!! used a 20 percent off coupon at Bed, Bath and Beyond - it even sucks up lizards in the house and you can release them safely!!! LOL
SacBarb - WOW, I am impressed that a Michael's employee HELPED you save money!! great deal..
Zona - what are you going to make?!
Mary in Mich - waving at you - yes, I have been "unplugged" most of the day..
have been running around like crazy - I have NO idea what I am going to work on tonight - but I have my craft bags ready to go!!
Iteach - yes, Aug. 5th, can you believe that - and YES, I am hoping that Colorado will be cooler - at least at night, I know it's cool.......
Mr. MEK received a very serious email from a gentleman in Denver - telling the desert people what it's like at high altitude - I had to laugh!! oh well...
okay - I'm sure I have forgotten something - but I need to grab something to eat and get going!!
I hope everyone had an excellent day.. and if I don't get back in here tonight..
I hope everyone has an excellent Saturday!!
:-)
Just lin I have been watching BB 10 & I agree these people seem better than the last bunch. Mr. Muscleman is annoying and he did lie about the apology from Miss New Orleans. He needs to go.
Whabbear I don't think you can be first on your blog because you have already commented on your TOTD. Does that sound logical to you?
J/L & Shirley: I wanted to watch BB10, but I missed Sunday night and I ushered Tuesday night so I only got to watch it once this week. I need to set my TiVo so I can catch up if I have another week like this one.
We have haze again today. Blech!!!
Zona: Yes, that counts.
MEK: The store I went to is not the one I usually go to, but I think I'll go there more often. I was shocked, too, and I thanked him profusely.
MEK: It's not about what I'm going to make, it's all about having everything I could possibly need to make it!!! LOL
left, left, left, right, left!!!
left, left, left, right, left!!!
left, left, left, right, left!!!
left, left, left, right, left!!!
left, left, left, right, left!!!
left, left, left, right, left!!!
left, left, left, right, left!!!
left, left, left, right, left!!!
69!!!
Woo hoo!!!!
JODI: Damn, you're too fast for me!! Congrats on 69!!!
WHABBY - How did you know that our code word for a "bj" is HOOVER!!!
ZONA - I bet I would put your Kenmore to shame!!!
JUST SAYIN'!!!
JODI: Would that make you a Hoover Elite?? LOL
Just got homen from the county fair- and I had a funnel cake mary/mi! It was so sinfully good.
Ate lots of junk and now have to lay around and bemoan that fact. then I am going to make an banana split...:)
EWWWW- MEK- you suck up lizards with your vaccuum?
A Great Big Happy Friday to Everyone!! And I hope you all have a fantastic Weekend!
Whabby- Of course another VERY interesting and informative blog from our very own in-house Nasa/Astrological expert!! Now, I just wish I knew what the hell you were talking about! Science was NOT my expertise in school, even of the Zodiac variety, and not just knowing the constellations! But, being a Gemini myself, I am a twin, and the evil twin in me never paid much attention to anything in school anyway!
J/L and Shirley~ I couldn't stand the last BB, BUT, I relented and set my DVR, decided to give it another shot, and have all the
BB10 ones recorded so far, and tomorrow I am going to sit down and watch them.
Miss Laurie and one of her friends from her Day Program and a Respite worker are going to see a local production of Grease, then out to dinner. I have 5 hours (count them ladies and gentlemen) of peace and quiet to myself on a weekend!
Laurie has a pink sweater with her initial "L" on it, and I am putting her hair up into a ponytail with a ribbon, and she is so very excited. She has only seen the movie, so a live production will be such fun! I will take a picture and share with you all as my avatar on Sunday.
I can't believe it's almost time for school to start again! Even though all my "babies" are grown, my grandchildren will start again the middle of August. I love taking each of them Back to School shopping with their Mom (so I don't buy something not approved). I so remember how fun it was to get new pencils, pens, crayons, and paper. Everything smelled so fresh and exciting, then a week later it was just the old grind!
Remember when we were young and we had almost a full 3 months off in summer, and didn't go back until the Monday AFTER Labor Day? Unless you went to Parochial School, though, they always started a bit earlier.
And now they have so many In-Service days, Minimum Days etc, I worry about all the working parents who need to rearrange Day Care etc.
Iteach, maybe you can explain all those days to me? I know YOU are not getting any extra days off!! And, the chicken recipe sounds delicious! Definitely going to try it!
Hope Tinka gets hooked back up to the internet soon I miss her sweet comments.
Till later my fine feathered friends, Peace and Love,
Donna Jean and Laurie Elizabeth
Our code word is number one. :)
DonnaJean a lot of it has to do with the state. They dictate to us how many days of school we should have and it is different in every state.
I personally don't like starting so early (Aug. 18th), because our school does not have air conditioning!
80
I'm Back! Hehehehe
Iteach I just bought a Hoover mach3 It is like a knock off of the Dyson. The handle finally fell off of my 12 year old dirt devil! Anyway it has great suction so far and gets the pet hair up pretty snappy! It was only a $100.00 at Wally World.
Sacbarb: No I don't have a use for the magazine! I just wondered if you needed it. Donate it to the library bet they will get some use out of it. Or Send it to Iteach for her class.
Boy I am on top of things huh??
DonnaJean: 5 blissful hours to your self! Wahoo! Hope Laurie has a great time at grease!
Zona: They did talk about this dark box that was colder than hell! Oh and they said you might want to check your crispers as something may be going south! LMAO
Well I am seriously contemplating a little drinkee poo and I just got a new book. So I will see you all in the morning!
LynnD- What a great way to end the night.
A drinky poo and a good book.
Donna Jean here in Nova Scotia the kids don't go back until just before Labor Day, I think the 3rd or 4th. They didn't get out until June 27th. When I was in school I think we got out thr 2nd week of June and went back a couple days after Labor Day. That was about 30 years ago too! Lol!
See yah later LynnD
Zona, so that was you who left the mess. I tried to follow the trail but it kept leading me to the toilet!
You reminded me of the time my son was in Iraq. I wrote to him all the time. I told him I missed him & all the crumbs he used to leave on the counter & floor. When he got back he made sure to leave them. Not so cute now! lol!!
iteach, I will try that tomorrow night (chicken recipe), not BJ LOL!!
Goldie~ I love the corn dogs & homemade FF, grease and all!
DonnaJ~ So glad you will have some time to yourself.
MEK~ good girl!
Whabby!!! so true lol!
LYNN D - Sounds like a little piece of heaven to me!!! I just got done re-reading Harry Potter 6....now rummaging around for #7. Be careful though, you'll end up sounding like Lucille Ball as the VITAMEATAVEGIMAN girl!!! I just caught that episode tonight.....oh, my freakin' hell.....my stomach still hurts from laughing so hard!!! The line that gets me every time is "do you pop out at parties? are you unpoopular?" :P
You are cordially invited to a picnic hosted by iteach, tomorrow at the owl's nest.
Please bring your lawn chair and Suntan Lotion.
There will be entertainment, music, and great food.
The picnic will be going on all day and night.
Lynn~ enjoy your book & your drink! BTW what book and what drink? I may join you!
Iteach~ I know, each school district, even in the SAME County is different! It just makes it so hard for the parents, sometimes. I give you and everyone else who gives so much of themselves to our children such high praise! Can I hear a Whoot Whoot for the teachers!!!
I know my grandkids teachers and Principal have been awesome! I even got a Target Visa because they will donate a portion of your purchase to the school of your choice. Just gives me another reason to shop!
Oh, speaking of vacuum sucking, my daughter SWEARS by her Dyson! I personally am happy with my Oreck, but I have no dog hair to vacuum up!
Sacbarb~ can't you catch up on BB10Online? Or does it cost to watch the episodes? I think an hour or two of watching it is plenty for me. I can't imagine wanting to watch the 24 hr telecam!
Till later, DJ
Whabby:

Glad you are excited tho...
I just had butter pecan ice cream (lite) with cool whip from the can, now that is what excites me...
Hi Jodi!
Where is want tonite, could she be sleeping?
I can't remember, when did Tink say she will be back?
I think Want is talking to the nuns. ;)
They have been contacted Iteach ..
I thought I saw the clouds parting.
Thanks Want!
iteach:
I think she said two days! So maybe she will be back tomorrow...
want:
Are these nuns, from the catholic order?
Carol; aren't all nuns catholic? Otherwise they would be none's. :)
Yes.
Good one SacBarb!
They are real Carol, I didn't make them up. lol
Whabbear: Great post! I love looking at the stars and trying to find the different constellations! I think I mentioned to you that my dad built a telescope and is a bit of a back-yard, armature astronomer! My sister is Cancer. (Actually she and Joey have the same birthday....which is tomorrow)! My mom is on the border of Cancer and Leo (July 23). My dad is a Leo (Aug. 11). Every year during my dad's birthday, we would end our celebration by waiting until it got really dark (and the ball games at the ball park were done so the lights would go out) and look for meteors (the Perseid meteor shower to be exact). It was fun because we would keep track of who saw more. My sister would usually get mad because she could NEVER see any (and would give up and go in the house)! It was always such a peaceful feeling to lay out there under the stars and just look.
My best friend (Cindi) surprised me by telling me that she too looks for meteors during the same week! (Her mom's birthday was the same as my dad's)! I never knew anyone else who did this! So now Katie and I watch them with Cindi and her son.
Oh...I am the Water-bearer (Aquarius).
sacbarb:
Want found them so I was not sure :O)
Well, I have been trying to finish up my fence (as my cousin finally helped me to put the last post in so I could work on getting the planks up. However, I had 2 drills and both of them needed to be charged! Then it rained....
I did get the lawn mowed...but I hope I can finish the fence yet this weekend. Tomorrow I am off to my parent's house to celebrate my sister's birthday.
Thanks for a great blog Whabbear!
Carol, I loved yours yesterday too!

I am off to bed, as I have a picnic to attend to tomorrow and I must get my sleep, so I am well rested...

LOL, it's thundering and lightening - sky is cloudy - we can NOT see the full moon - bummer.
I'm home from the crop thing -
Goldie - YES, one time - had a lizard get in the house and we could NOT trap him - so I came up with the great idea to suck him up in the dyson, cuz then we could release him - took us FOREVER to get him and he was released into the backyard unharmed!!!
I'm watching Animal Cops and they seized these big ass bull frogs that a resturant (heck, I know I spelled that wrong!!) was SERVING!!! YUCK!!!.
Jodi - you are a marching band today!!
Zona - you are a girl after my own heart - I love that you feel the need to own it all!!!
:-)
SacBarb - I would go to that store also - glad you found a good one.
Want2 - I actually took a 50 second video of one of my cats today with our camera!! - did that just to play - now we'll see what happens when I plug it into the computer!! LOL -
cpgem and jennifer - good nite..
I'm so excited - we are having a picnic - I will be gone most of the day - but will attend early !!!
Gosh - the lightening getting worse - I better get off this computer and go to bed!!
