The Thoughts of the Mind

scattered thoughts, they consume me, and when this happens to me, my brain turns to mush, the pimples come out, and the mood is skirmish~

several lucky people were saved yesterday, by the good of other people with warm hearts, and the mind of survival, it all happen in a matter of hours, and low and behold we had a miracle, a man, a graduate of USAFA, glided his way to life for others and than himself, he was mystery, but no more, he flew fighter jets, he was taught to survive by our military, and with his strong will, many survived, an amazing day~

president bush said goodbye, and I bid him farewell, i will miss him, yet i know its time to move on, tuesday will be a new america with a new president, i will respect my new president, as i have all the others, i am an american, with a new american president, it is what i need to do~

this blog passed a one yr mark, i could not believe how quickly one yr had gone by, this blog and its followers all met at ross's blog, we had started our friendships there, and when our comments were no longer wanted, we found a way to be us, in hindsight, it was meant to be, for if not,
this blog would have not grown into a life of its own, so for that day so long ago, i am pleased to say, i am glad for the word, tedious~

rosie cheated (thxs iteach), i have missed her so, she was my very first blog that i visited, when her blog first started i was able to leave comments, and i loved doing so, as i felt a connection, i hope she cheats again~

my dads mind is not the same, he gets so confused, and my heart breaks, i gave him a simple task of counting money for me, he has always done this in the past, his figures did not add up to what mine were, i told him his were right and mine were wrong, i had to, his face just seemed so lost, it just makes me so sad, i want his mind back, how can i do this~

i missed my two favorite thursday night shows, because of all these scattered thoughts, i will have to look on-line to see if i can catch up~

there is more, but i can't seem to put them in words, so for now these words will be, and another day, more words will come~

Morning Glories!

Mo the Ho got first! LMAO Congrats.

Good Morning Lois!

Carol I am in the scattered thoughts club! I have been on that path for awhile now. It all seems to go round and round.

I am still amazed this morning by the plane crash or landing however one chooses to look at it. They landed and all are safe. It is so amazing.

Goldie I thought about your son immediately. Was so glad to read he flies United. I also thought about Carol and wondered if her office was anywhere in the area the plane landed and if she saw it go into the water.

I was so moved by the people they interviewed from the plane. They were so happy. It was like looking at pure joy.

(((Hugs))) to all.

once again thanks for sharing YOUR thoguhts with us...
Hope everyone has a grerat day...

It is 4 degrees here.... and I thought the 14 of yesterday was cold....

we weren't very busy last for delivery ... it was very cold... but people were not tipping well at all... you would think when they call out it that cold of temps... they would tip a little better !!!!!

Good Morning Hooters!

Wahoo- Mo got 1st!

Lynn, he used to work for United but now Virgin America. Thanks for thinking of him.

That pilot was a hero- but we need to remember he had an amazing co-pilot and flight attendants who all pulled together to save those people. The co-pilot is from here in Oregon, WI- Where our own JODI lives!

My thoughts are always scattered. Thats why I have to write myself notes. Great blog Carol. I too wondered if you were close enough to see any of this. I can not imagine the flashbacks that people in Manhattan must of had when a low flying plane was first heard and seen.

Another balmy day in WI. Schools all closed again for the cold. BRRRR.

Mo,
Congrats on First, and thanks for answering the question before I asked.. :O)

Morning,
Mo, Lois, Mek, Lynn and me!

Lynn,
I know, the scattered thoughts make us go round and round, thks so much for thinking of me. No I am not near LGA, its about a 1 hr away by car. I am about 15 to 20 min away from Weehawken/Hoboken which is the Jersey side of where the ferrys are.

Mek,
My emotions are not in check either, geez, one minute the smile is there, the next I am biting someones head off. And now with the incident of yesterday, after the joy of everyone being ok, I have to hope it does not affect my business, hope is all I can do..

Goldie,
As the news broke yesterday, I thought oh no I just want everyone to be safe, and then 5 min into it I thought, oh no, this is not good for business, phones yesterday after the incident, seemed to lull and this morning as well.. So see, I did as you did, it can't be helped..

Lois,
Thanks for the info, I like Stacy
Kaiser, I can't stop by tho, Hope you enjoy, I also like Ant, I think he is so nice, and how he interacts with bloggers, is so special.

goldie said...

IBB- I always tip better in lousy weather. I think I am a good tipper anyway- I never base it on that stupid 15% thing. If so my 18.00 pizza would leave a tip of 2.70. I always give at least 5.00
I mean come on, to not leave your house and have someone bring you dinner?

night.owls.sb said...

Tina, Ibb, Scirish, Goldie.. Good Morning, you all jumped in as I was typing..

ibebold said...

Thanks Goldie... wish more people like you lived here...
I mean last night they varied from 16-35 dollar orders and people were happy to hand you 2 dollars.... and even commenting things like ... wow glad I'm not you tonight... or... sure is cold out there...
I only took 11 deliveries last night and only had two tips over 2 dollars....
just so not worth it as cold as it was...

iteach said...

IBB, I can't believe you recieved those type of tips! That made my eyebrows meet in the middle.

Even with the Mr. working off and on, I'm still generous with my tipping.

Sandie said...

Congrats on 1, 2 and 3, Mo! Oh, and 4!!

Carol, are there any thoughts but scattered thoughts?? That's how I feel these days! I feel for you watching your Dad struggle. It's awful watching parents age--I don't like it one bit.

Hi Lois, LynnD, MEK, Tina, IBB, Scirish, Carol, iteach and Goldie! Can I hear a collective BRRRRRRR????

I'm off to the gym. I'm focusing more on weight training since I know I must be losing muscle mass like crazy right now.

I'm making a big pot of chili today--Paula Deen's recipe!! It's so yummy.

Stay warm!

iteach said...

Good blog today, Carol!

scirish said...

Ibb...What were those people thinking???

Sandie...you definitely have my BRRR...Now could you send over some Chili???

Anyone have a cure for static hair???? I have tried rubbing dryer sheets on my head and spraying Static Guard on my brush and I still look like Don King.....Help!

Dianne/Denver said...

SCIRISH: I am laughing "thinking" of you rubbing dryer sheets on your head.

CAROL: Interesting blog that certainly makes a person think. I so agree with you having all these mixed up thoughts and emotions. I find that more as I get older too.

To the Freezing Owls: Boy, you are all really cold. I still wonder why we don't ever close down for cold...must not think it is cold enough here just snowing sometimes. Enjoy your time off work and school and snuggle in for a long winters nap! I still can deal with the cold better than icy roads..at least you can get out IF you want too.

MO: You asked me the other night how the movie was and I failed to respond. It was really cute. It was Bride Wars and we thought it was pretty funny. I really like Anne Hathaway and she was very cute in it. It is just a good laughing movie.

I had a nice day yesterday with meeting friends for lunch, going by and spending some time with my grandsons and DIL and meeting two other friends for our "Christmas dinner" and present exchange. MEK..we went to "our" aappy hour place and a two for one.

Today I am washing my grey away and getting a cut and meeting another friend for our Christmas lunch. I will then only have one more person to have Christmas with and it will be done for another year. I know you are all thinking I sure eat alot but I do have salads sometimes and only margs at happy hour. :)

I am so glad all those people are all okay from the plane accident last night. When you watch that plane and the one that was on fire over the holidays at DIA..it is a miracle that anyone got out alive on either of them.

Well, I had better get going. MrD is talking to a guy now trying to get a little more life insurance so I can scoot out of here.

I hope you all have a great day.

Happy Friday Owls.

Carol, All my thoughts are scattered, it seems, so I completely understood your blog.

It is so hard to watch our parents age. You are such a good daughter taking care of your parents like you do and trying to make your Dad feel better about counting the money. I wonder if my kids will take care of me when I get like that since I have only boys.

sacBarb said...

Mo, you are up early even though you are going to work late. Congrats on #1-4.

The pilot of that plane is from Danville, CA which I think is near EBJ and Seasidelady. His wife was on the local news this morning. I was riveted to the TV yesterday when they were covering the story. For some reason it made me very emotional, especially I saw a lady with a tiny baby. All I can say is AMAZING!

sacBarb said...

For all the Owls who are in freezing weather I say with Sandie, brrrrrrrr. It's 45 here and I'm cold. I can't imagine being where you guys are.

Scirish, LOL @ your Don King effect. I have no other tips for you if those didn't work. Sorry!

IBB, I always tip generously because I don't want them to do bad things to my food before it gets here, plus I am so grateful someone will actually bring cooked food to my house.

Waving a wing also to NN/LL, LynnD, Goldie, Iteach, Dianne, MEK.

I am going to go pack for a weekend get-away with my old school chums. We are leaving verrrry early tomorrow morning for Cambria, which is on the Central CA coast.

CAROL - Great blog. :O) :O) :O) I didn't realize right away that the co-pilot from the flight that "landed" in the Hudson is from Oregon, WESconsin!!! Thanks to BON*BON for the early morning heads up on that!! I think his son is in my daughter's class. As far as scattered thoughts....I totally get that!!! And I understood your blog today. You are a special daughter to let your Dad think he is counting correctly. I'm sure I would do the same thing. ((((HUGS)))) to you dear friend!!!

I'm sorry I've been MIA this week....been fighting off a bug of some kind, so when I'm not working, I have been doing a lot of sleeping. I really don't have a choice, since there is no one to call "in sick" to!!

Good (if scattered) morning, Owls!

Water landings... they're not just a euphemism for crash landing into water any more!

Carol, I'm a little scattered myself over the last few days. We've been negotiating work with the astronaut office at Johnson Space Center for our simulation facilities out here at Ames, and the level of chaos and mayhem is extraordinary!

On a lighter note: Dianne! You just cracked me up, albeit unintentionally. You said:

"MrD is talking to a guy now trying to get a little more life insurance so I can scoot out of here."

Its a number!

CAROL - I really don't pay too much attention to the number on my scale or on my clothes for that matter. I am a fortysomething woman that gave birth to 3 kids. My body is what it is. Not that I really want to be the size I am forever, but I'm not going to beat myself up to be something that the "media" thinks I should be. I am trying to make better choices in the foods that I eat, and once this weather improves I will be back out moving more.

Hey Hooters...

Just a lil announcement.

I just received a myspace msg from Sacbarb about a bulletin that I posted over there.

There is a movie called "Prayers for Bobby" that is airing on January 24th on Lifetime (check your local listings). It is a movie dealing with the fact that their son felt it was necessary to commit suicide rather than deal with not being accepted by his family for being homosexual.

It looks like it will be a powerful movie. It stars Sigourney Weaver portraying Mary Griffith, a gay rights crusader, whose religous beliefs we're partly the reason her son killed himself.

I know we have some very tolerant people here at the nest, it is one of the reasons I feel comfortable here, and after meeting Goldie and knowing her story with her son, I am hoping that many more will educate themselves, learn tolerance, and show compassion.

This may be a great tool to educate children as well as adults.

Jodi said...

TURTLE - I also read your bulletin on ms and plan on watching this important movie. Thanks for your friendship and also the heads up!!!

Jodi said...

ITEACH - Boom chica waa waa!!! Just sayin'.....GO FOR IT!!!

Hi hooters!

I'm having another CA-RAZY day at work. This is my first time to read the blog in 2 days :(

We saw on Good Morning America that the pilot was from Danville CA not too far from where I live. And co-pilot from WESconsin!

They are simply AMAZING. My dad was a fighter pilot in the USAF, then an airline pilot for many years. He was also AMAZED and very proud of the fabulous job the pilots and crew did.

Plus, the passengers did the right things by standing on the wings and appeared calm, therefore all making it safely.

I hope that the people in NY who helped rescue the passengers feel extra proud of themselves!

Such an awesome story!

I have to go to a meeting so I will read the comments later! I hope everyone is having a good day.

Dianne, be careful buying life insurance--remember that "whole life" is only good for a very small number of people as most of that money goes into the pocket of the insurance company, which is why insurance companies push it so hard. For most people, it's a rip off. Term is the better choice for most people. See, I do listen to hubby now and then!

Sacbarb, have a fun weekend!

Jodi, nice to see you back in the nest--glad you're feeling better!

Sandie said...

Lynn D said...

Good Afternoon Owls!

Kgirl I saw the promo for that movie will mark it on my calendar too.

I have been community organizing this morning so have not been on much.

There is a crisis brewing with the Native Alaskans in the rural villages. Because of several circumstances a failed fishing season, more crazy cold weather etc.. In some of the villages it has been -40 to -80 degrees and another front is moving in. They have been unable to get ships in to deliver heating fuel and food supplies and it has become a crisis and call for help.

People have had to decide wether to feed their family (in some cases once a day) as food is getting low, or heating. Very bad situation.

I have donated money for heating fuel that will have to be flown in and it is looking like the cost will go from $7.00 a gallon to $10.00 or more because of this.

I have spent the morning contacting our local Food Lifeline and anyone else I can think of that might be able to provide food or even media awareness.

I am exhausted. Why in this day and age should anyone have to decide between food and heat? I know this is happening across the country but this seems to be dire circumstances whole villages are suffering.

I was going to post about it on MS but I am still (even with Mozilla) getting pop ups like crazy.

So I am posting to you guys because this has been one of my going around in my head issues.

Going to take a nap.

Maureen said...

good evening feathered friends!

IBB...I can soooo relate to you. I know the economy is bad, but if you can't afford to tip accordingly, then cook your own food. I had so many customers that would leave 2 or 3% tips, and they got EXCELLENT service. I hope your next shift is better.

LYNN...it boils my blood that in this day and age, we...the richest nation in the world...have people that have to choose between heat and food. Bless you for all you do for those that can't.

SACBARB...have a fun get away weekend. Glad you are feeling better.

I actually got a few things done today. I had to go to the pet store and get a bunch of different kinds of seed for the wild birds. Then I returned some items I had purchased as Xmas stocking stuffers but didn't use. Then I went to work and finished a small project. Lani was supposed to come over for dinner but she cancelled so now I am going to decide what to make for just me. Shirley better show up soon or I'm going to send some Mounties out to look for her.

Just wanted to fly in and say Good Evening to Everyone. I was thinking 'bout you all♥

I'm watching Patrick Swayzes' new show, The Beast. It looks good so far.

I hope all you Snow Owl's are staying warm. I rested most of the day cuz Yesterday while snowblowing I fell on the freak'n ice and then while knocking the ice off the gutter's Mr. Boz got frisky and jumped on me and kinda slammed me into the house! Actually, it was kinda funny...I just laughed about it and at him.

My laundry room pipes are frozen so no laundry was done today. Hopefully tomorrow they will be thawed.
Lois, I may have to try the blow dryer thing! ;o)

Wishing you all a good night and great weekend. I hope to be able to get back to playing with you all soon♥

Oh..what a great blog carol. I think one of your best! Your mind works like mine..lol. I totally could follow along!

I just had a horrendous day. Started out with me leaving my phone on vibrate which meant I overslept and ended with me picking out files off my TROJAN VUNDO virus ridden computer...ugh!

I got it done though, and my puter is better! I hope that it is all gone!

Well, guess where I got the darn virus!! From USERPLANE!! going into Ross's chat. I hadn't done that in forever and my son gave me a new webcam for Christmas that I hadn't used too much and Mikey POZ said he was in there. Well, like a big doofus for brains, I forgot that when I went on that terrible program before, I got a virus. and yep, guess what I got again! As it turns out, Mikey got one too. :(...uggh..and double uggh.

To top it all off, I had a mystery shop to put in that had to be in before 12:44 a.m. or it would be rejected. I just got it in. Of course, I couldn't work on the internet until I cleaned out the virus from my computer.

Okay..end of rant..what a day!

What a day!

phew. Can I relax now?

The QOTD is too frickin' funny! Not funny at all what happened yesterday though..Such an amazing job by the pilot! What a miracle!

It is 18 degrees here in SC where I'm still at! WOW! lol

It's all we can do to stay warm! I hope you all are warm and hunkered down for the night!

I have skimmed blogs for the last couple days...Amazing writers we have here! Carol, you NEVER cease to amaze me with your words!(LOVED the "what a heart can hold" blog!!)

WOW!

I want to thank you all for the encouraging words last weekend when I had a crisis lol...It's not totally ironed out, but it will all work out! Thanks for being there for me!

I've skimmed comments today! OMG thanks turtle for the reminder about the Lifetime movie! I saw the commercial but my DVR won't let me set that far in advance, and would have forgotten about it!!

Thank you!

J/L, Iteach, IBB, Dianne, Jodi, Zona and Sandie, Thanks for the good trip wishes.

Bear, It is nice to get together with old (and I do mean old) friends. We do a lot of "remember when" but we catch up on events of the past year with family, etc. too. And of course, there are the obligatory adult beverages.

Have a great weekend everyone. I am going to make sure I have everything I need to take with me and then to bed. I will be back either very late Monday or early Tuesday. ;)

Bebbi Sounds like you've had a frustrating day.

Joey Glad to hear things are looking better. It was 71* here today. Lots of surfers in the water (in wetsuits).

Good evening Hooters.

Hi Joey!

I agree about Userplane and the Ross chat. Some of the Owls got nasty virus's and my techie almost had a heart attack when I told him I went in there. So besides some of the idiots who were making their presence there and the threat of a nasty virus I stopped going in there. Must say I miss some of the peeps and wish they would come on over, but not enough to venture back....

Watched 20/20 as well Tina~ I am still in awe of that crew.

Ok, how is this for eerie? I got my annual client profile questionaire in the mail today, with a letter signed by my DEAD accountant! EWWWW.... I think they were all set to go and someone from his new firm just mailed them not thinking. That was a little unnerving.

I have been having a hell of a day with my feet/cramps. Oy- if someone could give me the cure for those awful shin cramps and seizing around the ankles and feet.

On a good note-Mr. Goldie and I went to the mall and it was sidewalk sale days! I got 4 pairs of pants for the grandbabies for 1.18 apiece, a quilted vest for 8.99 for Mr. Goldie, I had a 10.00 coupon for free stuff from Build-a-bear, so got a ballerina outfit for Brynns Hippo and paid 1.08. Then got to Boston and got the kids radio and the kids digital camera for 9.99 (xmas next year!). Underwear for 1.25 and a shirt for Mr. Goldie for 6.00. I also bought a binoculars with digital cameras by Sharper Image for 28.00 (was 80.00) for my nephews birthday. I am feeling damn good about all that stuff for so little. Tomorrow, I hit Macy's....

Going to go see MILK at the Sundance Theater, and I'll be damned if Macy's isn't in the same Mall as that. :)

Goldie Hey, kudos on the great shopping! I hate to shop but it is really fun to find great deals. Do you think the leg/ankle cramps have something to do with your shoes or the height of the heel on your shoes?

goldie said...

J/L sometimes it does. If I wear a shoe with any type of heal for awhile I will suffer the next day. But nothing out of the ordinary today or yesterday. It is a lovely side benefit of the diabetes as well. It just happens sometimes and its awful!

The deals today were great. Mr. Goldie was amazed. He said we should swear off all Christmas shopping until AFTER Christmas every year. LOL

goldie said...

well, going to try to go to bed now. Have a nice night!!

Goldie Sweet dreams! I would like to see Milk, too. Sean Penn looks so perfect in that part.
