Good Morning Tina and Michael- I am trying to get the video to open but it is stubborn today. I will try again and come back.
By the way you are both beautiful this morning.

It opened. I loved that song. What is the story behind it? Who are the singers etc?

I am sipping orange juice by the fire and thinking this is a pretty good world.

I am making my mincemeat today.
For those who are not familiar with mincemeat it contains no meat. It consists of grated apples, raisins, currents, glazed fruit, juices, butter, (In the past people used suet, hence the word "meat") spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, and a shot of run. Cook for 20 minutes, bottle it and in a few weeks it will make delicious mincemeat tarts for your Christmas table. They are of English origin. I have already made my plum pudding (also English) and I will make my Christmas fruit cakes next Sunday. All three items need a few weeks to "ripen".

Breakfast time for "fur babies". Have a great day.

Hi Tinka!

This is amazing! I am making all the same things as you today!!

Just kidding! I couldn't begin to do all that! But it sounds fantastic...

I'll tell you about the song though...

Someone get them a recording deal! For a Perez Hilton cover song contest, two incredibly talented and relatively obscure singers named Charlie Puth and Emily Luther got together to perform a cover of Adele‘s beloved — no, make that revered — ballad ‘Someone Like You.’ With this simple cover, the pair let their voices make the most impact.

Puth and Luther are seated in a room, sitting on a comfy couch and singing for their lives. They are utterly angelic as they harmonize, pretty much rivaling the British soul diva as they bounce off one another like cherubs. Did the finest hair on the back of your neck or along your arms stand bolt upright yet? They will give you chills. That’s how good they are.

We understand that it’s incredibly in vogue to cover Adele songs in 2011, but Puth and Luther don’t merely try their hand at singing one of Adele’s soulful, heart-on-the-sleeve tunes. They own it. They inhabit the song, making it personal. They aren’t trying to ape Adele; rather, they are taking the song and giving it the Charlie/Emily touch.

It’s like a chorus of seraphim have descended from the heavens. That’s how sweetly beautiful their version of this heartache and heartbreak tale is!

WELL! They got a recording contract !!

Heres is the link to the video of Ellen and it explains everything...

Thanks Michael, I will check out the link. They do sing beautifully together. Maybe you and I should go on UTube and sing one of your songs. Maybe we will get a recording deal. I did teach music for almost 40 years so I think I can add a bit.

Tina You are stunningly beautiful, too, but a little slow on the uptake. I got Michael's avatar immediately. :)

Michael Talk about stunning.....That was a really beautiful version of Adele's song. No wonder they got a recording contract. Breathtakingly and achingly beautiful rendition.

Tinka You are so industrious, baking all these special treats for the holidays. You put me to shame, truly. My mother was to be the baker of holiday goodies in our family. I'm going to have to try and do a little something in that regard, but it won't be like Mom's.

there were several people who entered that cover contest and they were great as well....but these two really stood out...matter of fact when the video ends you can click on the others to hear them....

Tinka!

I'm game! We just need to decide who is going to do what and get with it....

Michael Maybe you shouldn't part your hair that way.

Hi Just_Lin - My house smells so Christmassy with the spices and rum wafting through the rooms. Get out your mom's recipes and I bet your goodies will be every bit as nice if not better than your mom's. I have always been the one who supplied the whole family with Christmas cakes, mincemeat for tarts, plum pudding, Christmas bread and my buns. My mom's specialty was cherry cake and she made one each family. My sister was good at making delicious squares like Nanaimo bars. We have always had too much sweets arounds at Christmas and now we are all trying to limit our intake. Jack had to help me this year as I can only stand so long.

Michael - How about we start our production in the New Year. That will give us plenty of time to plan.

Tina - Will you really listen to our tape? Then we will have to make one for sure.

Time to bottle the mincemeat. See you later.

Tinka: Your comments today made me sad! My grandmother always made plum pudding for our Christmas dinner dessert. When she died, in 1989, her daughter-in-law continued the tradition, and we still had a plum pudding. But my Mom's brother died, his wife moved to LA to be near her sons, and my Mom stopped cooking Christmas dinner several years ago. :(
