Olive Branch

i really did not know
the meaning behind the
words "olive branch" i heard
them said many times but
never really took the time
to understand the meaning

the help i needed was google
as the answer was before me

"the olive branch, apart from its literal meaning
as a branch of an olive tree, symbolizes peace and goodwill"

so now i got it, the understanding
of it, these words have been a
part of my being since i have
been me, so why is it i don't
use these words when i love
the meaning?

i think its because we get
so caught up with the little
things in life, we forget the
meanings behind the words

i have taught myself to move
on, to enjoy, to embrace
and now i have learned
a "olive branch" can give
me peace and goodwill!

and in life, there should
be peace, i know at
times its hard to find
but hey, nothing is easy!

if i ever see a olive branch
or if ever a olive branch is
given to me in any form
i will reach out and grab
for it and be grateful~~

thanks "iteach"
this blog is dedicated to you!

:O)

Oh, no. I wsn't third. I was fourth. I'm totally bummed out.

Lynn D said...

Hiya Whabbear!

You were third! I don't count when some of our owls try to sneak in twice! lol

PS I miss you but have been lurking. Saw your space update yesterday!

Lynn D said...

Good Morning MEK How is the cough??

goldie said...

Geez, I hope when you were beating me it wasn't with a stick!
Congrats on first MEK and on 2nd Lynn d! And hey Bear!

Hope everyone has a good day. We are supposed to get 5 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow and then the temps take a nosedive into the low single digits and negative 0 windchills. Someone explain to me again why I live in the frozen tundra?? Oh yeah, the Packers!! GO PACK!

whabbear said...

Thanks, Lynn D! I kind of needed a creative outlet. The Rossblog was taken over last night by a small number of individuals who posted back and forth on the same narrow topic.

MEK in AZ said...

Good morning - Lynn, Whabby and Goldie!!

Lynn - okay - Whabby was third - heck, I could have been the WHOLE top 10 since I was here all alone!!

Goldie - I would NEVER beat you in a physical way.. you life in the frozen tundra cuz you LOVE the cold!! Hey, it's only 35 degrees here right now - and I LOVE it..

I let my mind stew all night and didn't get alot of sleep - for that I am kicking myself in the butt!! :-)

cpgem8 another great blog!

I don't understand why you guys think you can't write? I think we have a group of writers here myself. You all express yourselves beautifully with respect for others and you always inspire me to think or rethink on many subjects. Except for AI LOL

I thought I had you all tucked in last night when I left and a bunch of you popped in and had lutefisk of all things! Why???

MEK I am going to look for scrapping stuff to sell on my ebay page just so I can get you to come and bid! LOL

Mo thanks for the brownies late last night! I did not get any as this crowd scarfed them all up. I don't even see a crumb.

I just replaced all of the supplies that I raided when I was bored last night!

To all of us underweather I feel for you literally. I can feel my abs this morning for the first time in years. Only because they are so sore from coughing and hacking.

Oh and I was a pretty tight package in my twenties too Mary and did not realize it either. Unfortunately my bricks have not only shifted but all of the mortar is loose to.

Lynn D said...

Whabbear create away!

Yes I lurked over there this morning and noticed that!

My evil side said isn't this excessive posting by a few? LOL

MEK in AZ said...

Okay - I am going to delete my commment!! LOL

MEK in AZ said...

Lynn- my cough and throat are better today, thank you...

MEK in AZ said...

Yes, cpgem - another great blog - I'm still thinking about it!! :-)

Lynn D said...

MEK the comment was LMAO funny!

I will not delete mine I said I will write like no one is reading and I am sticking to it. LOL

I actually slept between coughing fits last night! Wahoo My throat is better too.

Lynn D said...

goldie you just have to keep rubbing the Packers win in don't you??? LOL

It is 24 degrees on my porch this morning and the dogs water is frozen solid just had to thaw it and refill.

goldie said...

Dang it MEK, you deleted before I could read it!

I lurked too this morning, and noticed the tedious back and forth comments. Was surprised to see one from Ross say how fun it all was.
Things that make you go hmmmmm....

For the record, I HATE the cold. I also detest lutefisk. Crazy Norwegians......

I must have been drinking when I mentioned the 'whore box'! Well no, actually I was drinking when I jumped on the 'whore box'. It is a big black box in a bar that is about 4 feet off the ground and all the little "watch me swish my tail" girls dance on the this bar.

Of course, my son says "don't let my mother up there". Challenge. I like a good challenge. Imagine his surprise at the pics. This was the same bachlorette party where we had a scavanger hunt and I had to collect a pair of mens underwear and a condom. Those little 20 somethings were to chicky shit to ask, so I did. Followed the guy into the mens room and got (I did not peek!) the underwear and condom while they collected the mundane book of matches and shoestring. Guess who won the scavenger hunt???

Ok, so now that I have revealed the inner me, I must get back to work :)

MEK in AZ said...

Goldie - I LOVE it!!! You silly girl...

Lynn D said...

Oh goldie I love the inner you!!!!

whabbear said...

Goldie: Condoms have saved many a pair of men's underwear from ruin.

You were on a mission from God!

MEK in AZ said...

Whabby - you are the greatest!!! this is why I LOVE you!!!! LOL

goldie said...

LMAO Whabby. I feel that I need to clarify that the hot young thing who removed his underwear (purrrr) for me was not wearing the condom at the time!

Lynn D said...

Goldie are you sure??? LOl

Whabbear: LMAO and then Hack and cough!

Amicus said...

Good Morning Night Owls!

Happy American Idol Wednesday! :)

I'm going to record it again tonight, because I also want to watch Ellen DeGeneres on Deal or No Deal. Did anyone else see the preview of Ellen wearing the green sequin dress? Too funny! LOL!

My favorite Idol audition last night was Cristy Lee Cook. Don't know if I spelled her name right. She has a beautiful voice, but I'm also in awe of how disciplined she is at her young age. Regardless of whether or not she wins Idol, I think she's going to be a success at whatever she sets her mind to. :)

Have a great day, Owls!

Just_Lin said...

Hey I resemble those remarks! I was on the RossBlog last night and did submit a couple of comments with a limited number of Blog Buddies. The irony was lost on me. That reminds me, I threw away my iron in 2007.

cpgem8Did someone beat you with an olive branch and try to force you to be peaceful and have goodwill?

LynnDLOL @ loose mortar. The other day I was dancing around to some hard rock music and did a bit of a braless shimmy. Living in the San Francisco area, I'm surprised I didn't set of the Richter Scale.

GoldieThe good part about getting older is your total willingness to just ask for what you want.

Tina~in_utI've decided that I really am 26ish but my body just doean't know it.

Tinkatia said...

Mek, Lynn D, Whabbear and goldie- Good morning early birds. Thanks for giving me something to read while I drink my orange juice this morning. Lynn I agree we have some great writers on our blog. We should get some of it published. Maybe we could make enough money to finance a trip for all of us to meet in Hawaii. Wouldn't that be fun?

cpgem - You have given us another great start to the day. I am ready to accept that olive branch.

Zona - As usual my little girl didn't listen to me. I saw how late you were posting. I don't know what I can do with you. Perhaps I can hire someone in Az to tie you down at midnight. You really are a night owl aren't you?

Bear - The first show on season one of GW is her wedding? I am just starting the second episode. If you didn't see the wedding then maybe you didn't see season one and you and Huz need to rent it. After I watch a few more I will tell you their plots too.

iteach - I hope you have a good day putting out fires in your classroom. Was that the expression you used? Now I am not sure. I remember doing that especially amongst the girls.

I am off to Weight Watchers to weigh in for January. I think I have done better this month than last. If I am 2 pounds over my goal weight I have to pay. I struggle hard each month so that I don't have to pay. Have a great day everyone. I will check in later. Hi to all my friends here that I did not mention by name.
Love, Tinka

Just_Lin said...

I meant to say: The irony was NOT lost on me. I repeat, it was NOT lost on me. I'm no dummy.

Tinkatia said...

Amicus and Just Lin - Good Morning. We must have been writing at the same time. I think they were a little less mean last night on American Idol. I didn't, however, like it when they laughed and laughed at some contestants. We will see what tonight brings.

OMG, did I finally make it here? I hope so!! We'll see if this works, and if it did, HI EVERYBODY!!

Good Afternoon my feathered friends!

I was hooting when I took a lurk on "another" site late last night!
I caught the irony, too. But, it was a different topic and the subject of the topic was involved and it was FOR the subject, so it made perfect sense to me!!
Didja understand that??!! LOL

I have lunch here...
For Tina I made perfectly cooked eggsalad sandwiches,
There are a variety of salads.
Soups.
Cookies, pudding and cough drops for dessert.
and
Juices, soda pops, coffee and teas.
Enjoy!!!

WHABBY!!!!!!! Hi bear!

Good morning! Please note that I am back with my "old" blog name!

Well, I went over the the local Social Security dept. this morning, intending to get my last name changed. I arrived before they officially opened at 9:00, the place was packed already!

The security guard said it would be about 1 1/2 hour wait!!!

Same thing happened when I went there last week, the place was packed (I am assuming most people in there were not waiting to get a name change, too!).

I was told the best time to go was about 4:00pm, so I guess the last name change will have to wait.

MEK congrats on being first!

LOM good to see you!

This is such a comfy place, so glad you created it CP!

It's great to see so many buddies!

Have a fab day!

Tinkatia said...

Maureen - You made it. I was missing my muffin when I got here this morning. I think I will have cookies and tea this morning thanks. I think we should all send you on a cruise for being such a great 'hospitality manger'.

Lil-ole-me - Welcome. You got here. It is a long trip through the forest isn't it? Carol is a great guide. If it weren't for her I would still be lost in the thick growth of fir trees.

Mek - I was down 2 lbs. (That's why I am having cookies this morning.) I am pleased with that but it sure gets harder as you get older. Even 10 years ago I would have seen better results with the effort I made these past two weeks. I will be 10 years on Maintenance this summer. As I said before as long as I don't go 2 lbs over my goal weight I don't have to pay. I also have to weigh in every month. If I miss a month I have to pay. The secret for me after many failures was to have my doctor set my goal weight at the upper end of the ideal weight scale for my height. When I aimed for too low of a weight goal for my height I could never make it and I would give up. Then I would start gaining again. Weight Watchers is a great way to lose weight I think.

Just stopping by in the middle of my day to say Howdy Night Owls.

Just_Lin: No I have not recieved a whipping, just something iteach said yesterday that had me thinking, thats all :O)

Mo: hey you!

Funny, I went by Rossland to leave a comment, just wanted to connect
as I have been for the last 3yrs.

Many comments today, and bloggers are chit chatting thru commenting,
I am assuming it is being allowed today because they are voting for Ross! I hope he wins as these bloggers have put a lot of time and effort in it. It seems its been
a 24hr worldwind. Some have not slept.

I also hope these bloggers realize
that at any moment the chit chatting thru commenting could be stopped by Ross. It is not fun to watch as bloggers get hurt feelings.

mek: so happy you were first and second...

whabby: glad you made a appearance,
and you were third! congrats!

ok back to work for me!

"new Start"

What I find "disheartening" about Ross's comment yesterday is that he still does not get it. It's not all about HIM.

He comes into our safe haven after asking us to find somewhere else to go and states that "people's feelings got hurt. There's nothing I can do about it." - WELL, YES - there is something you could do about it - THREE SIMPLE WORDS ---- I AM SORRY!!!!!! but I did not hear that.

What I heard was "my feelings were a little bit hurt" - HELLO - you hurt other people's feelings and dismissed them like they were garbage.

The "animosity" towards you - you thought we were "friends" - well, my friend, we thought we were your friend also, but trust me - friends do NOT treat each other the way you treated us"

and, THAT "my friend", I call "disheartening"!!

"Fresh start" - starts with Ross apologizing"

Jodi said...

MEK - Bravo!!! Well said....and I really do feel the same way. I'm sorry......that is exactly what has been missing. My children were taught at a very young age that if you hurt someone's feelings - that you APOLOGIZE. I realize that we were all "guests" on his blog - HIS BLOG. But we were only following the rules that we all honestly thought were in effect. When something suddenly changes - fine - but it could have been done privately (we are all registered with typekey) - not the public humiliation that it was. I know he didn't name any names, but he really didn't have to. It was quite apparent who had been chatting that night. All you had to do was read the comments to figure it out. It's just too bad that some people don't have better manners than that. JMHO.

Tinkatia said...

Mek - You were eloquent. That is what I told him in my letter. I said if only you had said "I am sorry I inadvertently hurt people's feeling" you still could have stood by your words. Some people find it very hard to say "I am sorry" even after people have said it to them. We shall see. I do believe in forgiveness. I hope it all ends soon.

Jodi - I am glad you are feeling a little better. Don't overdo it, that's the secret. I think Mek said that yesterday too.

Time for me to shut down my computer for a few hours. See you all later.

Waving at LOM- hey girl, welcome to the party!

EBJ-way easier for me to remember than that whole kittyqueenprincesscatthingymagiggy. :)

Tink, congrats on the 2 pounds. It is so much harder isn't it as we get older.

Jodi- OMG- who new I was dining with 'da norskie' in the group.

Good job MEK. Always best to speak what is on your mind and in your heart. Especially when your heart is hurt.

Thanks for the treats Mo- is there a tip jar for the fine service??

Jodi said...

Hey BON!!! How was the oatmeal and blueberries? Sounded great on a chilly day!!

Jodi said...

GOLDIE - Ya, sure, you betcha!!!

Jodi said...

I left a plate of orange/cranberry sweet bread for all to enjoy!!! I still have a hot pot of green tea, too.

Peace
Jodi

Tinkatia said...

Jodi - That orange cranberry sweet bread sounds so good. May I have some with my Slim Fast. That 2 pounds could so quickly go back on.

Jodi said...

TINKA - HaHa!!! The sweet bread and the Slim Fast cancel each other out. So no harm done!!! :D :D

Bon'O said...

Good afternoon everyone! Sorry 'bout that little "test" earlier. Think I had one too many windows open this morning & Internet Explorer had a brain freeze! When I brought everything back up and had to log in, I forgot to add the 'gmail' part of my user name. Thought I'd been evicted from the nest for a minute. Can you say "Suicide Watch"?!

Hey, *Jodi-who-never-sleeps-in-the-frozen tundra!!! Yeah, I was just emailing with Tinka about the blueberries. I think that's why I haven't caught your sniffles yet.

I left 4 pounds of blueberries on the counter for you, next to the green tea :o)

Such a treat to see more Owls in the nest each morning. I'll be back later pals. Have some serious housecleaning to do today.

Dianne/Denver said...

Good News, Jodi. Our school colors in high school were green and gold. Maybe I can find my 40 plus years old Pep Club outfit. You probably don't even know what Pep Club was!! I am still cheering for your team..where are the cheese curds?

Welcome LOM...

The sun is shining with a dusting of snow and 15 degrees but it is beautiful outside. I didn't know if there would be any food so I stopped at the deli and picked up a cup of soup.

Hope everyone is doing good today. MEK: good post and I think you need to say exactly what you feel in your heart. I have learned that in my "old age".

"I AM SORRY"
Isn't it amazing that 3 little words can hold so much within them and so many are afraid to say them. And then often, even when they do they are for purposes other then true atonement.

I have been falsely accused of some stuff on another blogsite, and finally the blog owner "apologized" to me. But, the apology should have been made ON the blog. To clear my name, but it wasnt.

And Ross should apologize in public as well.

Tina~in_ut said...

MEK~ I just love you!~ Have I ever said that? ...well...today anyway?~ Three simple words.....no admission of guilt.....just sorry your feelings were hurt. It is his blog. I agree. They are his rules. I agree. (btw...so freaking glad I'm not the only one who noticed the rules went out the window last night!) But to make me feel like the olive branch has been used to beat the crap outta me....not good. So.....we have this lovely place....filled with food....as long as I don't cook...and laughter....and AI.....and LynnD not watching AI....and I'm just going to keep writing like only my best friends are reading. (he-he....believe it or not....I actually do tone it down in here! :D)

Moving on......

Just_Lin~ yes you are a dummy...you're 26~ :)~ (that was humor!!!...like the iron....get it?)

JUSTLIN: Is this classmate you are going to see..it is the same one that sent you the Christmas present? I can't iron or vacuum because I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago...I think you have to take it easy for awhile :)

BONO: Why did you have to bring up cleaning? We are retired and we don't have to do that anymore..we can do it "tomorrow".

Hey again! I have to go to work for 4 hours this afternoon, so stopping by before I leave.

I am sorry for the confusion!

Jodi my mom is from Wisconsin, she grew up in Appleton. Still have lots of relatives there!

Her and my dad will go there next month, to attend a cousin's wedding. I think they are very brave to go there in Feb! haha!

I'll check in later, I expect you all to behave in my absence!

NOT!!

Just_Lin said...

lil_ole_me Glad you made it. You might gain weight here as there seems to be lots of goodies around.

Tinkatia Congrats on losing the 2 lbs. Obviously you were able to resist the temptation of the brownies and other treats in here.

Maureen You made perfect sense.

MEK in AZ Do you think the olive branch is not really an olive branch but is only disguised as one?

EastBay J I'm glad you have your original name back. You have a cat named Paula? I once had one named Hitler. Sorry, I know it's offensive but I couldn't help it. He was black and white with a black square under his nose.

Jodi Hi to you, too. I'm waving.

Dianne/Denver I was in the Pep Club, too. It would be interesting to do a profile of the typical Ross Blog Buddy. And yes, it is the same classmate who sent me the beautiful earrings. It will be very interesting to see how things go when we have our little reunion.

I hope all the sickies are feeling better today.

Zona said...

MEK: Loved what you wrote. It is one of the things our parents teach us when we are young..if you even think you may have hurt someone's feelings--say you're sorry. It doesn't hurt to say it, and it can change everything when you do.

JODI: The only cheer I remember from high school is "DE-FENSE...DE-FENSE" ;)

TINA: Glad to see you survived. :)

TINKA: Stayed up late, but I just had to do it...was having too much fun to sleep. Tying me down at midnight? Are you sure you're watching Ghost Whisperer and didn't accidently pick up Ghost Whipper?? ;)

DIANNE: My grade school colors were green and gold...JODI it must be a sign--!!

GOLDIE: LOL at the tale of the inner you..don't we all have those stories..mine involves a mountain.

Good to see everyone, and I hope your hump day (with or without panties) is a good--no great one!!

Mek - You are welcome. You rock Babe.

Zona - I give up. I am resigned to the fact that I adopted a Night Owl and I can't change her now. I will never mention your all nighters again. What is a Ghost Whipper?

Maureen - Thanks again for keeping us fed.

I must rush if I am going to get the chowder on before A I. Be back later.

Dianne/Denver said...

Oh TINK, don't even ask Zona or anyone what a Ghost Whipper is..your adopted child is being naughty. I don't think you raised her exactly right or did you just recently adopt her?
TINA: Looks there are quite a few of us on here that can be your mom!! I know a few of us that are in the "older/wiser" group.Look how many of us remember Pep Club.
You guys have me starving..how do you make SW corn chowder? I love corn chowder!! I like anchovies on my pizza too...anyone else? Don't worry, I will bring my own.
ITEACH: Are you going to have to get on a scale in front of a lot of people and they will know your weight? You are a brave soul!! Now correct me if I am wrong but I think this "wiser group" will include Bono, JustLin, LynnD, Tink, myself and ZONA & MEK are border line. Looks like Tina and Jodi are the "babies"...I don't know how old the rest of you are so I sure don't want to put you in an older group (swingin' oldies) without checking your ID.

Tell everyone what you did to get to this ripe old age of 108...clean living, no drinking or smoking, sex in moderation, let us all in on the secret. I am amazed that you keep us all fed and drugged up with your age...you go girl. You can be our mascot!!!

Dianne/Denver said...

PS Hi JoanE...nice to see you.

As some of you mentioned reading the Ross blog last night...talk about tedious and I don't mean anything mean by saying it..but I think the night owl conversations were much more interesting!! I also thing there ware more than 30 comments...back and forth..I refrained myself from just writing the word "tedious" on that blog. My 108 year old mascot will be proud of me!

Zona said...

MEK: Let's hear it for the meat lovers!!

Lynn D said...

Hey welcome JoanE and lil ole me!!!

Hey gang I see Mo is serving food and some pizza is on it's way. I have to take a pass tonight.

Mr. Lynn D is going to deliver a Whopper with Cheese here pretty soon!

MEK you done us proud! But would share the darn Ludens!!!

Bono: Yep I was refering to Meth club. Now I have to rethink drill team as my daughter was on that in high school to. LMAO

Just Lin: I do not dance bra less anymore either, it hurts when they slap my belly and the noise scares the dogs! LOL

East Bay J: I am curious you just moved to a new location and now you are changing your last name. Are you in the witness protection program??? Did I miss something?

Dianne: I am a very wise 45. Life has slapped me down so many times that I had to wise up or just stay prone!

Tinka: You lost 2lbs!!! WAhoo I tried weight watchers and flunked. I just could not do the group therapy. I would leave after everyone unloaded and head right to the nearest Mexican place. Usually for a drink!

Tina: I would love to entertain you tonight but I am once again flat on my back and coughing up a lung. I think I even saw one of my kidney's make an appearence.

Hi Jodi Hi Zona!

Crud I know I am missing someone! HI HI HI whew.

Dianne/Denver said...

Goldie...there is a fine line here on the Senior Rate for the "older/wiser" group. Are you saying you want to be on the younger list? Borderline is about 50ish..our movies say it is 55.

MEK in AZ said...

cpgem - YES, i suppose I AM free today!!

Lynn D - I just LOVE the personality that is coming out of you!!! Don't you feel SO much better here - I sure know I do!!

Dianne/Denver said...

So sorry LynnD to be throwing you in with us oldsters....you are on the young side. At least I am not old enough to be your mom...well, maybe but we didn't know about all that in the good old days!! I am sorry you are still sick. Boy, if you think you make noise dancing without a bra now...just wait my dear...Interesting statement that you are flat on your back waiting for Mr D to bring you a Whopper...see what this group has turned me into!!!

ZONA: Tell your story..it might give you clout in this group. I would imagine we all have some stories...some are stories and some are still creating the memories!!

Dianne/Denver said...

MAUREEN: Dang it...why didn't I meet you about 30 or 40 years ago to get that advice? I wonder if it is too late to start on the pack, the 5th and hmmm a romp a day. I got tired just typing it!!

Lynn D said...

MEK Thank you! I hope I am not scaring anyone! YES I do love it here!

Diaaaaane!!! I really had a bet with myself who would be first to respond to the whopper line. I so lost.

I thought it would be Tina or Mo, and your response was out of the ball park! LMAO And I don't mind being in the older wiser group one bit!

PS he really is bringing me a burger for dinner.

Just_Lin said...

I'm just passing through quickly.
Zona and MEK I'm waving back and yelling "Hi".

Goldie Maybe we could send the lutefisk and the burnt egg over to the Ross Blog for a while. We need more space on the counter, anyway, for our other goodies.

I'm dropping off some Bailey's Irish Cream. Everybody help yourselves.

Tinkatia said...

Taking a break from A I. It gets so repetitious after a while.

Joan E - Welcome, I knew you could do it. Good for you.

Dianne - It is hard to adopt an older child. That's why everyone wants babies. I am doing my best with ZonaBaby but she is a challenge for me. I don't want to give up on it though. There is potential there I am sure of that.
By the way it must have been a long trip from one blog to the other. You aged almost 30 years during your trip. Maybe you are Rip Van Winkle and you slept part of that time. You woke up older.

Iteach - We did the biggest loser deal at our school but I don't think it's fair to go by the number of pounds lost. Someone who is close to 200 pounds can lose 25 pounds faster than someone who is 125 can lose 10 pounds. I think it should be percentage of body weight or some other formula.

Zona - Is that a show about baaaaaad ghosts or what? I am completely confused.

I am going back to A I. I can hear it upstairs and I don't think I have missed anything new.

MEK in AZ said...

Just Lin - yummy - Bailey's !!One of my FAVS!!! That and Rum and Diet Pepsi!!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne/Denver Okay, I should have known better than to think I was the only one who got a laugh out of Mr. D delivering a Whopper. I was just going to be nice, being as Lynn D was waiting flat on her back and all. Oh, the visuals!

Dianne/Denver said...

MEK: Rum, baileys and diet pepsi...well, that should get you on the mend in a second..along with your junior whopper. I guess we all have our preferences!!

LYNNED: I am been hiding some of my "normal" personality on these blogs as I don't want to get kicked off. I thought of more to say on that Whopper but I was being "clean". You know..it takes two hands and all that jazz.. What do I win for you losing the bet?

Dianne/Denver said...

JUSTLIN: At least LynnD doesn't leave much to the imagination..very straight forward type of gal!! And remember JUSTLIN, we can say things and then claim it was our age talking!!! There are a few advantages. Good memory I had about that Christmas present. When are you doing your meeting and how many years has it been since you have seen this classmate? (if it's okay to ask)

Zona said...

LYNN D: Please don't forget to give some attention to the McNuggets...

Dianne/Denver said...

ZONA: That is a different restaurant...see the beginning "Mc". Whoppers come from Burger King.

Zona said...

JUST_LIN and MEK: What is Bailey's like? I've seen the sucking on the ice cube commercials, and yes I'm Irish--but that is one of the few alcoholic beverages I have not tasted.

TINKA: I was a good kid. Good teenager. Wild in college. And now I am just tired. I will try to behave! ;)

Tina~in_ut said...

Damn it~ We are busier than you would believe..someone please throw me a Diet Pepsi~

Oh...and what the hell is LynnD doing flat on her back? :)~

Zona said...

DIANNE: I know--but in the end--it all comes together as one meal...doesn't it? ;)

MEK in AZ said...

Okay - I'm watching Idol and I don't want to give a spoiler - BUT the guy with the bag of dead fingernails - that was just gross - I could NOT look!!!!!!!! crap..

Dianne - I don't have ALL three at once - Bailey's on the rock or with half and half - and THEN rum and diet pepsi!!

Zona - it's like chocolate milk!!

Zona said...

MEK: Then I think I have had it--the night I tried a shot of everything! I don't remember if it was good though, I think I tried it after the brandy..

Just_Lin said...

Zona ROFLMFAO @ McNuggets! As for the Bailey's it's really tasty, like a rich dessert. Try it, you'll like it.

Just_Lin said...

Dianne/Denver Excellent memory about the Xmas present. We are meeting in our hometown in last week of March. It's like going back to square one. We have known each other since age 7. Several times thru the school years we almost had a relationship but then didn't for some reason. We seem to get along really well thru email and phone calls. We have exchanged photos. We shall see what happens.

Just_Lin said...

Sorry, I forgot to add that it's been over 40 yrs since we've actually seen each other.

MEK in AZ said...

I wish that Idol would showcase all the people that actually get to go to Hollywood - cuz 11 got thru and we only saw a handful..

OH - and another wonderful drink I used to have WAY too many off...

Butterbaby - bailey's and butterscotch schnapps (I know I just spelled that wrong) anyway- it's a shot of 3/4 baileys and finished off with the butterscotch - OH MY!!

MEK in AZ said...

Just Lin - you go girl!!!

Zona said...

JUST_LIN: It is so hard seeing someone again after so long isn't it? You really want to see them, but are afraid too. I hope it goes like a dream! ;)

Zona said...

MEK: That did it--Zonababy is gonna try a Butterbaby...how could I not? I'll drink it sober this time so I can actually taste it...what a concept! ;)

iteach said...

Carol who is the surprise tonight?

Tinkatia said...

Lynn D - I tried Weight Watchers and flunked 3 times before I finally made it. If it wasn't for WW I would be 30 pounds heavier because I tend to go up a pound a month. If I didn't have the incentive of weighing in at the end of the month I wouldn't worry about one pound. It works for me.

Zona - I know you try hard and you are blossoming nicely. I am proud to be your cyber mom.

goldie said...

Hey owls!

Dianne for the record I am a very YOUNG 48- with a body that feels like 98 some days! Can I get me a little of the 'wiser' while still being in the youngerish group????

Oh, and I don't care where we send the burnt eggs and lutefisk, but get it off the table please.

Butterbaby?? Oh, pass me one. We call them butterballs. yum and I don't even like Baileys. Actually, I just like the butterscotch schnapps, so I'll just do that.
I have a bottle of Jagermeister in my freezer- any takers??

Thanks for the offer MEK- I'll let you know if I get a panicked call tomorrow from my sister-in-law again. KFC offered to find me one too!

just_lin: I think its great seeing old friends, Just have fun! ;O)

MEK in AZ said...

Goldie - OH - I think we would have gotten into alot of trouble together in our younger days!! LOL - Maybe I ought to drive the golf cart!! LOL.. and, I usually do half bailey and half butterscotch - but I wanted the peeps to have the "correct" recipe!!!

From Wikipedia:
The following people have been described as night owls:
* Winston Churchill
* Bill Clinton
* René Descartes
* Glenn Gould
* Jay Leno
* Elvis Presley
* Marcel Proust
* Stephanie Evans
* J. R. R. Tolkien
* Voltaire

MEK in AZ, ZonaBaby, and cpgem8 Thanks for the encouraging words. It is scary to see someone after so long. We have sent photos so we shouldn't be too shocked with each other. Just Lin & MEK~

My husband and I went to high school together. He was one year older then me.

We started dating 12 years after high school. He had no idea we went to high school together. But boy did I remember him.

We never met, because He was the captain of the baseball & football team. I was the captain of the clarinet section in band.

However, 12 years later he moved back to our home town and became a nerd. That is how we finally hitched up.

I am so excited for you!

I was dating a football player at the USAFA at the time - and well, Mr. MEK was a "brain" - 14 years later, his job was going to move him - he called my friend asked if I was still in colorado - he said - I am going to Colorado and marry MEK..... My mom invited him for Christmas dinner - doorbell rang - i said - "Please Lord, let this be good" and it was better than good!! and here we are married for 11 1/2 years!! so, that is my story!!
