Pietri

last night i went to see
my godchild ride her
pony, yes she owns a pony
(well i guess her parents
own the pony!)

i stared in amazement
as she was so focused on
riding, trotting, galloping
her face so serious
at five yrs of age
she rode like a pro
such a sweet child

pietri lives in a stable
near her home well
taken care of, so happy
he seemed when she approached
him! what a sight
i now have another great
memory in my heart

i had a pony when i was a child
however mine fit in my pocket
and was plastic!

oh, how times have changed!

bloggers, this is ur blog
invite who you wish
enjoy!

Okay - now that I've read cpgem's blog - I can comment!! LOL :-)

I LOVE horses - always wanted one - but never could - my mom always told me that if my grandfather had lived - there would have been a horse at the farm for me whether I was there one day a year or the whole year... so, I had little plastic ones also!! :-0

Iteach - we are having really nice weather - have the backdoor open trying to get some fresh, germ free air circulating in here!! :-)

Jodi - I am hoping for the Giants also - I have NEVER (and will never) be a Cowboy fan...

I was shocked at the earlier game, it kept going back and forth - too close to call........ was hoping SD would not win - but now, Mr. MEK and I are wondering just how many Super Bowl commercials Peyton can get himself in!!

Hope everyone is having an excellent day!! :-)

cpgem - is that enough "Al Michael's" for you?!! LOL

Looks like I'm the only one around - I can be first, second, third - heck, the whole top ten!! :-)

.......as I was just saying, back in 'Area 51', just returned from a hike to stop here a moment and check other e-mails. Just then, my AOL Barry White "Now, where you been Baby; you've got mail" chimed in & here's the e-mail from a friend I hadn't heard from in 2 weeks (what a coinkydinky, eh?)
******(took out all the graphics first)*****

Why we should walk:

Walking can add minutes to your life.

This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $5000 per month.

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60
Now she's 97 years old and we don't know where the hell she is.

The only reason I would take up exercising is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.

I have to exercise early in the morning before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

I have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.

The advantage of exercising every day is that you die healthier.

If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

.............And last but not least,

You could run this over to your friends but why not just e-mail it to them!

Hi MEK Hi cp,

Horses are great! When I need a fix my best friend has two and I just go visit her. They are so intelligent and amazing.

Her boy horse Pokey (No the name is not because of his gender he was slow to come and get his food when she first got him) is a riot he plays with sticks and loves water! He reminds me of a little boy. He is a black and white beauty with blue eyes.

I have decided the laundry can wait and if I run out of panties I will borrow a pair of Mr. Lynn D's tighty whities. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Good to see DonnaJean found us!

Jodi I am rooting for the Packers!

iteach what do you guys do on inservice days? My cousin always said training. I figured that was teacher talk. LOL

So bonO you are an admitted lurker too! lol

Just finished watching medium that I taped that was pretty good.

MEK I am still hacking and coughing. Argggh

Hoot Hoot Night Owls!

Welcome to everyone who has joined since my last hoot hoot! :)

Cpgem8: What a sweet blog about your niece! I wanted a pony when I was a kid too, but the one I got must have been related to yours. ;)

I haven't had a migraine in ages, but I woke up with one this morning. I was hoping to catch up on both blogs today, but I think I'm going back to bed instead. My head is still feeling hollow, like a train took a detour through the middle of it. LOL!

I'll check back in later tonight.

Have a great evening everyone!

Hi everyone--and more new old faces..well not old as in wrinkly, cause I resemble THAT remark..but old as in 'seen ya before and glad to see ya again!'

DonnaJean: You made it!! If you would have waited for me to teach you, you'd still waiting! The only advice I can give--is what Birdee told me, save to favorites. It takes me here in a second.

SOPHIE!!!: Well now my day is happier! Good to see you.

JODI: So I hear you can be a pistol! Congrats on the win! I think I know who I want to win the SuperBowl now..considering the Raiders are lost in Tonapah!

TINKA: I missed out on the tea and scones! Well, maybe I'll be quicker on the uptake tomorrow.

MEK: I love the first..have we marched to 100 for you yet? ;)

CPGEM: I always wanted to ride a horse, was never able to even get near one..allergic BIG time.

BIRDEE: Hope your eye is feeling better, I know how you are feeling. I have a few patches, let me know if you still need them.

BON'O: You open more than one window? I am so challenged, even one seems too much for me sometimes!

LYNN D: I always hallucunate with Benadryl. I see Robert Kennedy running down my hallway bent over like Groucho Marx. I stopped taking it a long time ago. I like your dream better!

TINA: Hope you feel better. Drink tea, not Diet Pepsi! ;)

MEK - Congrats on 1st!!! And 2nd, 3rd !!!!

My husband's family raises Belgian horses. They are the most beautiful and gentle animals. I don't know how many of you remember, but I have pics on my myspace when my son Tim showed at the Walworth County Fair late last summer. Because we had enough snow, they were able to put the runners on one of the wagons - and we had an official sleigh ride at Christmas time!! What fun!!

BON'O - LOL!! at your post!!! Enjoy the rest of your day - I'm pooped - hoping to be refreshed tomorrow!!! Send some of that energy my way!!

Back to the game.......and MEK......thanks for the Al Michaels!!!

Jodi said...

Hi LYNND, AMICUS, ZONA!!!!

Zona said...

AMICUS: I must have missed you during all the trauma of signing in! Good to see you.

LYNN D: LOL--I was thinking of Gumby! ;)

night.owls.sb said...

Jodi: I remember your pics on myspace I was fascinated by them, last nite was my first time in a stable, well a very high priced one! It was amazing, as my godchild was feeding Pietri carrots the other horses were banging on their stalls with their hoofs, scared the crap out of me! She was not ever fazed. Kids they are amazing!

night.owls.sb said...

Amicus: feel better

Zona: happy blue

Bonnie: thks for the walking
tale, interesting

Lynn d: i can always send you a pair by fed ex, you will get them tomorrow!

JODI: He says Tina sounds like a raunch. Then he calls me 'nice'--I'm sorry but I think I'd rather be a pistol and a raunch! LOL!

CPGEM: Thank you for the Happy Blue!! I am off to feed Nikki--I'm so glad I can say my pup's name here without having to worry that anyone thinks I mean Boyer. ;) Good evening all--I'll be back tonight for refreshments!

MEK in AZ said...

I thought you all would appreciat the "FIRST" - LOL...
and yes, we'll march to high numbers here.

This football game is NOT really going the way I would like it too - oh well, crossing fingers that it gets better..

back to the subject - in May, the high dollar horse farms in Virginia open their doors to the public for a couple hours and you can get some amazing photos and see how the "other horses" live - their barns are cleaner than most people's homes!!

when we would visit my grandmother - the people next door had a painted horse and we would sneak sugar cubes and carrots over to feed her....... :-) we only got caught once!!! LOL

We got to pet the Budweiser horses before the Fiesta Bowl - they had them loaded in their travel semi-trucks..

We just lost the football game - is it nationwide or just our cable...

anyway
amicus - hope your headache gets better.

lynn d - i'm still hacking away also..

Bon'O said...

ZONA~~Yeah, I'm definitely a multi-tasker. Right now I have windows open for AOL,gmail,OwlsNest, RossBlog & EaglesNest (yes, LYNN-D, I'm definitely a lurker...too much fun to miss!) & MySpace. :o)

Now, I'm really outta here. The bright sun is coming in the West windows now, so that means it'll set all too soon. Can't wait for longer days!

Delores~~Where are those dam* chicken livers, girl?? It's time to wrap the chestnuts in bacon for the rumaki!

Hello everyone!

What is everyone cooking for dinner tonight?

MEK in AZ said...

Iteach - wow - good question? haven't even though about dinner - MR. MEK got deli sandwiches earlier for lunch, so I'll probably eat the other half - I haven't cooked in a week, since i've been sick - he's been taking care of himself in that dept.. :-)

I am still craving that pizza you talked about though - that will probably be the first GOOD thing I eat, when I feel better....

Hall's cough drops tend to make things taste a little "off"!!

Maureen said...

Good Evening ALL!

I love to look at horses. I can so appreciate the beauty of them. I love to pet them and offer them carrots.

But, let's just say the one and only time I attempted horseback riding was less then enjoyable!!!

Not exactly encouraging for a second time!

BIRDEE, I added eye-drops and patches to the medicine cabinet.

DONNAJEAN - I saw you made it! YAY!
{{{hugs}}} to you and Miss Laurie Elizabeth!

I would have been first if there weren't 21 posts before me!!

*WAVING HELLO* to everyone that posted already and those yet to arrive!

Jodi said...

Hey everyone - I think we're getting Chinese takeout for supper. Cashew shrimp......luv it!!! And I have to fight my daughter for the shrimp!!

Be back after we eat!!!

Jodi said...

BIRDEE - I just sent you a friend request on myspace. Will you be my friend? I always feel like a second grader asking that!!! LOL!!

MAUREEN - Not a fan of horseback riding either. When we were dating, my hubby spanked my horse and it took off for the barn at breakneck speed. I thought I was going to be decapitated going in the door. That was enough for me.

Jodi said...

MEK - I used to work with a nut job that seriously sucked on Halls cough drops EVERYDAY. I hope we don't have to have an intervention for you!!! LOL!!

MEK in AZ said...

Jodi - I really do NOT like Halls - just got some the other day, cuz I was looking for the Luden's but couldn't find them...
so - no intervention here - cuz as soon as I'm better - in the drawer they go!!! :-)

and LOL at your "breakneck speed" - I would have been crapping my pants....

MEK in AZ said...

Okay - one more post and I'll leave for a minute...

I sure wish Jessica Simpson was at this football game!!!!! :-)

I get a kick out of seeing the Eastern time on this blog. Now I really can see how late some of you are staying up. I guess I could have always added 3 to my time but it's more dramatic to see it. I am enjoying my first 'do nothing' stress free day of 2008. I am doing just that. I haven't made a phone call or even gone for a walk. It's seems so long since there weren't 10 things on my list. I thought I would try it. I am not even dressed yet. I have played on the computer. Snuggled down for a nap with my two dogs and one kitty and I am now going to sit in the Hot Tub. I wish some of you were close enough to join me. Hey we don't have VIG signed up yet. I haven't even heard from her. I will write her but I am not much help at signing her up. I am getting a complex because I think I am in the slow learners group on myspace. Maybe I need to try harder. Welcome to all who have joined. I just read your intro cpgem and it's great. Now I am going to read the comments. See you all later. I will track down VIG. Love, tinka

Tinka~ You are doing what I am dream about doing with my Personal Day this year.

Usually I spend my Personal Day on a shopping trip.

However, this year I want to use my Personal Day on just being relaxed.

I plan to ship my little ones off the the babysitter as usual. Then come back to the bed and sleep some more. Watch T.V., play on the computer and light candles everywhere.

I think I will do this in April when school starts to slow down.

Anonymous said...

iteach ~ yes..what IS for dinner? Don't feel like lasagne..again.

MEK ~ Been watchin' football w/you today. Was surprised @ Colt's loss, now watching NY & Dallas. I used to HATE football, but now that there's not a man forcing me to watch/listen to it, I rather enjoy it at my own pace.

LynnD ~ But alas...no tighty whities to steal when I run out of undies!

Amicus ~ Rest and be gone migraine!

Tinka ~ How snuggly...you have a hot tub?!?! We'll be right over!

Good Evening Dear Friends

iteach - A day like I had today is just what a hard working mom (whether she works at home or away) needs. I feel so rested tonight. Tomorrow I will go back to my normal routine, starting with getting dressed in the morning.

Sophie - I would love to have you join me in my Hot Tub. I love it when the grand kids are here. It can get lonely out there especially when it's dark. It has fibro lights that change colour. Belle would love that.

Jodi - Please join us too. There is a place to set our drinks.

Goldie - Good for you for getting in. Did you have much trouble?

Donna Jean - I am glad you made it. I will e-mail you tonight. I don't know how clear my letter was last night because I had been awakened by a pup that wanted to go outside and I was half asleep.

Just Lin - Welcome - You say your comment disappeared. Well I have had some weird things happen with my computer today too. I was in the middle of sending picture comments when after sending about 15 successfully, I clicked on 'display comment' and it was a little video that played a bit of Ross and Louise. I tried copying another picture and the same thing happened. I emptied my cache and cookies, turned off the computer for a while and tried again. It worked fine for a few comments and then I clicked on 'display comment' and it was a video box again. This time it was an Ant video. Does anyone have a logical explanation for how the codes could change like that? Don't tell me my computer is haunted please. I already have a haunted Elvis ornament. There must be a logical reason for this eh?

I think I am going to end off my perfect rest day by ordering in - maybe spaghetti and Ribs from Boston Pizza.

Have a great night everyone!

Jodi said...

MEK - How was your sandwich?!!? Are you feeling better now?

DonnaJean said...

Good Evening all my lovelies!!!

It's so nice to see all of you here!!

And hi to Lin, oh, you just sent me an email! How fun, I'll get to it in a minute.

Sophie, I am so jealous of you! Or I should say I am so Proud of you to be more exact. You have the discipline I do not have about exercise! I try to walk as much as I can, but it isn't nearly enough, and the gym? What is a gym????? (Oh, I checked out your profile).

Dinner for Miss Laurie and I will be either leftovers (Mandarin Chicken and chicken/shrimp fried rice) that I made yesterday. Well, actually Trader Joes made it, I just cooked it! I do add little extras to the fried rice though, like more veggies, and the shrimp. It comes just Chicken Fried Rice in the freezer section. Delicious though.

I also have a rotisserie chicken waiting to be eaten that I bought on Friday, and green beans and yams to be cooked. Hmmmmm what will it be???

Horses, I love them, but am sort of afraid of them. They are so big!!! I used to ride when I was a kid, but haven't done that in over 40 years.

I better go for now, it is almost dinner time here in Santa Rosa, and I just know Miss Laurie will be standing at the office door in a minute wondering if I am getting off the computer!

Bye for now, Donna

*Amicus ~~ *whispering* How's that migraine?

*whab ~~ YooHoo....over here ~~ can't wait for you to join us. I'll have to time-travel back to yesterday's Area 51 to see what you had to say while talking to the left-over snack crumbs.

I'll be back later with horse ovaries....I mean hors d'oeuvres. Sorry, must have been the horse talk earlier. :=)

Just_Lin said...

Thank you everyone for the welcome and shout outs!

Tinkatia Right before you wrote that maybe your computer might be haunted, I was thinking to myself "poltergeist". LOL It's bad enough to have to worry about computer viruses and trolls, now we have to worry about poltergeists too? Looks like you aren't the only one with haunting problems.

Oh, and I had broasted chicken and fries for dinner and carrot cake for dessert from the Hubbard Ave. diner (take-out). Holy cow, more calories than I can probably count but oh so yummy............

Hey you gals with colds and/or flu:
Ever try 'oscillococcinum'? I haven't had the flu in years, and used to fight off colds with zinc lozenges. Then I discovered oscillo' & haven't even had a cold since this time last year. If you've never heard of it, it comes in a box of 6 vials of little dissolving pellets (like nitro) that you put under your tongue. Homeopathic, no icky taste, inexpensive. I've only used them a few times at the first hint that a cold might be coming. Seems to work for me. Want me to run out & get you some?

It has been a sad day for me. A good friend of mine lost his daughter in a car accident last night. It is a large close knit family and very well know in the community. I will be volunteering at the VFW for the funeral dinner Thurs. Two of his daughters were in the National Guard and were in Iraq a few years ago. We all worried that one of them would not make it back. This, was so unexpected.I have had my cry and will now do what must be done to help anyway I can. Stay safe my friends.

Anyone doing anything exciting this coming week?

I think that the only exciting thing that is going to happen to me this week is a visit from Aunt Flo.

TINA and ZONA: No more fighting over tea..how about just make it Long Island Ice Tea..a happy medium? TINA: Glad you are better but you still don't know your football. Just always remember the Broncos as you will never go wrong!! LYNND: It was so funny reading your post about your hair this AM. You made me chuckle out loud (didn't know your hair could do that)! TINK: I was trying to send some comments on myspace last night and Ant showed up too. I couldn't get him to leave so I just signed off.
It is nice to see all of you and read your comments.

Dianne/Denver said...

HMMMM, weren't we talking about horses, GREAT FOOTBALL TEAMS, Bowl Games...and where is my name, by the way?

Tina~in_ut said...

Dianne_really_slow_in_Denver~ Look right above your post in blue...THAT IS YOUR NAME!!! k?~ :D

Mary/MI said...

Diane~ Thanks.
Just to clear something up. My "friend" who lost his daughter is a male. I know most assumed I was talking about a gal friend of mine. My friends wife left him with 7 children when they were quite young. He did a fantastic job raising them. His wife came back and divorced him and married a much younger man. He forgave her and remains her friend.I always think of him when I hear that song"You picked a fine time ti leave me Lucille". I have never seen him sad or bitter.
OK, I promise no more downers tonight. Some one make me laugh again!

Zona said...

MARYFROMMICH: Glad you found your way through the bloggers forest to the owl's nest!
I am so sorry to hear about your friend's daughter, and sorry you are hurting. Praying for strength for you both.

DIANNE missing her second name IN DENVER: Broncos--here too?? ARRRRGGGG!! Thought we left those lights behind! ;)
I am just trying to help Tina feel better and get back to her old self....wait....;)

MEK in AZ said...

MaryfromMich - I am so sorry for your loss...... my thoughts and prayers are with you and your friends family...

Tina - thank you for marching to 100!!! :-)

I just watched a cute little movie on Starz - Catch and Release - I had not seen it in the theater. Now, I see that Music and Lyrics is on - oh --------

NOW, I must go to bed, cuz like Goldie - I was never a "night owl" - even though I have had the honor and priviledge of being linked with them on the blog - :-)

I can't think of a better group of "ladies" to associate myself with!!! :-)

OH - and WTF is up with vasectomy Rob - he's being all nicey, nicey on the 30th - he, who, chastised us for "going behind everyone's back" geez..........

Tina - did you pick me up some Luddens' - i love those things!!!

MEK in AZ said...

Nite, MaryfromMich!! :-)

Dianne - howdy - us Bronco fans MUST stick together!! :-)

Tina~in_ut said...

MEK~ what is a ludden? I got diet pepsi, bananas, and nacho cheese doritos....I should be better in now time~ :)~

Dianne/Denver said...

Mary: I know where my "real" name is but I have never had Tina not call me something original, so I didn't want her to think that was changing!! ZONA: We did not leave the Broncos behind. Do you think those Raider people left them behind...no!! We can't change everything. I know you packed your lights but only until next year...ask Mr Zona (he will understand). Also, remember how all of you went out and bought orand and blue shirts? Tina; glad to see you are feeling better and back to your "adorable" self!!

Dianne/Denver said...

Oh MEK, I am so glad to see you and know you are better and well enough to remember the team you support. I was getting ganged up on here "from other teams". I am cheering for the Packers but only for this season...I can dye it back to the right color in August.

And what is the deal with VgsRob? Didn't he start this whole thing?

Zona said...

NITE MEK!!

Tina~in_ut said...

Dianne_" "_Denver~ whhhhhhoooooooaaaa~ what the crap is adorable doing in quotes? I don't deserve quotes! I may not have showered since Friday....but I'm sure there is "some" adorableness in there somewhere.....isn't there? :(

MEK in AZ said...

Tina - Jodi told you to get me some - you must have forgotten - it is a cough drop that really tastes like candy - i don't think they really work - but they sure do taste good - not all mediciney!!

LOL at doritos!! you can have a fiesta bowl!!

MEK in AZ said...

Dianne - Yes, I believe Rob DID start this WHOLE thing.... and now he's trying to "suck up" - asswipe!

Tina - did you wear a hat to the store? I know what my hair looks like after two days of NO shower - took one today and just changed into non-germed up p.j.'s!!! :-)

Tina~in_ut said...

MEK~ Honey, I'm Mexican....all my bowls are fiesta-ive~ :D And you should know by now....I don't do everything Jodi tells me to~ Wow...for feeling like S^&T, I'm sure on one~ :)~ I like the robitussin cough drops....they work....and don't care what they taste like, cuz i got my Diet Pepsi~ :D

MEK in AZ said...

Good to see you all - sleep tight..

Tina~in_ut said...

MEK~ Hat? are you crazy.....that's why I had kids....took the youngest and he went in....he took so long, I was waiting for the manager to come out and tell me he was caught shoplifting....but Thank the good Lord, the person in front of him was forging a check for ciggies and THAT was what took him so long~ :D

MEK in AZ said...

Tina - flaunting her "fiesta" :-)

Gotta love it!!!

Okay - nite everyone!!!

Tinkatia said...

ZonaBaby- I thought I would take a peek and I was right. You didn't do as you were told. I sent you to bed a half hour ago. Now I am going to be nursing your headache tomorrow. I know the parenting books say one should never say this but sometimes I wonder why I ever adopted you. I know you will probably need therapy for my saying that to you but you are getting so disobedient lately. Oh well I still love you and you are so gosh darn cute.
Good Night everyone. Have a great time while I sleep.
Love, Tinka

Dianne/Denver said...

Tina, I hope you are off work for a couple of days to get some rest and get well...this time I am being serious (for a second). MEK, TINA AND LYNND: Don't come into the room while you are coughing..we love you, but....

Zona said...

TINKA: YEOWCH!! But you know, it IS Tina's fault..somethings never change..;)

TINA: Diet Pepsi and Robitussin cough drops?? Isn't that illegal in some states?

Tina~in_ut said...

Dianne_making_her_own_blog_rules_in_Denver~ What the crap~ I'll come in here if I want to......how do you think I got this horrible thing?~ FROM MEK!!! WHO GOT IT FROM LYNN D~ :D I have tomorrow off from job #1, but have to work at job #2 & 3....should only be a couple of hours. Then it's back to slaving away on Tuesday....hopefully it will be slow~ Do you watch the kids this week?

Tina~in_ut said...

Oh Tinka~ EVERYTHING is my fault!!!

Zona~ As long as it doesn't involve alcohol, it's okay in UT~ :)~

Dianne/Denver said...

TINA: You can come in here but you can't cough or at least cough in your elbow!! Yes, I am going to get up early (7AM) and go to my daughters and watch the girls and then Thursday at my place. I am even agreeing to them having a friend over tomorrow afternoon...am I a great Nana or what??? (a lucky one). I am not making up blog rules but I don't want to get sick from you and you always want to kiss good-night---that passes germs when you are sick (nothing personal). Next think you know...Zona will be sick.

Dianne/Denver said...

Delores and the bus are having some issues on Nov 30th right now. She may need the cavalry.

Zona said...

DIANNE: Looks like I don't kiss--I hit! Who knew??

Dianne/Denver said...

Zona, you hit or spank? There is a huge difference and if Whabbear wasn't sleeping he would explain it to you.

Tina~in_ut said...

Delores and who? I'm pretty sure she can hold her own~ :D

Just_Lin said...

MEK, LynnD, and Tina~in_ut Have you tried Fisherman's Friend cough drops? They are really strong but they actually work. We're you ladies all fluffing George Clooney together and that's how you all got sick at the same time?

Just_Lin said...

I meant "were" not "we're". Geez!

Zona said...

DIANNE: No spanking--got enough of that as a kid. It turns out I don't hit either..

Amicus said...

No hooting from this Night Owl tonight, but I wanted to pop in to correct a mistake and say thanks.
