~Crossroad~

there is a strangeness in the air around the nest
i almost had to pinch myself, to make sure it was
really happening, grant you, this is life and squabbles
happen, however i think what we all forgot the most
was the respect that has lingered here for so long

i still can't pinpoint the exact reason for the strangeness
perhaps if i could i would be able to understand it better
as i would have been able to help more
we are at a crossroad, that much i do know

in life, i don't think it is possible to have a friendship with
all who surround you, we at times can't pick and chose who is near,
it is at times like this, that one must remember to regard another,
be cordial, considerate, and most of all open, as one never really
knows what is existing in their souls

communication is most important between people
as it allows each of us to understand, without communication
we are left in the dark to just wonder, and our minds will
wander to a far off place, and then the dark just becomes
darker which then leads to anger

i am most sorry for the hurt, as it seems it is wrenching
when one is hurt, that emotion takes over, and no other
emotion is able to get thru, hurting is hard to control
that is why it needs time to heal, time and understanding
will always help the hurt

i just have read some of the latter comments and would
like to share a few with you:

Vig: I love this blog and cherish my Owl buddies

Mary: It will take more than a little friction to give up on it. I wov ALL of you! :+)

Bon: But, hopefully we can all one-on-one any issues and enjoy what this wonderful nest has given us for the past 7 months.

Lynnd: That is why I moved here and have been happy with the wonderful people that post.

these comments kept me going as i wrote this blog,
they gave me hope, they allowed me to see the good
in what has been created, they touched my soul

in life, we move on, we figure a way to continue and make
amends, so it is on this blog, that i hope we can continue, and
approach each day with a new fondness, as we have done
so in the past

i will continue to blog, to share my life,
my thoughts, my fears and it is with hope that you all stay
and share this nest with me, as a sole owl cannot conquer it all,
however a group of owls can conquer all and more!

Your dogs have got to be smarter than me lol. After "re-freashing" for the umpteenth time, it finally dawned on me where you all were!
I was up early and thought I would be first lol! Never happened!
Today was Hero's day at the County Fair. They handed out medals to 14 Korean Vets. They all looked so proud. My VFW Aux. Post was a part of the ceremony.
I didn't stick around for any junk food as I will be back there tonight. I will be taking your orders so let me know what you want.

Carol~ MUAH!!

birdee, your list cracked me up!

Tinka, from area51. Birdee's list reminded me what you said about my right/left brain thingy lol! Guess you can tell I am certainly no brain! Mr Mary is called "Math Head" all the time.He is a math whizz. I look at adds in the paper and ask him which store prices are the best, the 2-for ?, 5-for ?, or a case of ? @ ? etc. He figures it out before I enter it into my calculator! He has the brains, but I rule the roost! lol (sorry birdee

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Waving a wing to Birdee, Shirley, Tinka, Goldie, Lynn D, Amicus, Sandie, SacBarb, Donna Jo, Ronniegirl, Renee Eve, and Jennifer!

I sharpened my #2 and all of you posted this morning before I came on! Hope I got you all, and to everyone that lands after I post, hope you all have a fantastic day!

SHIRLEY~ Thank you so much for relaying Carol's message. I am sure she needs sometime to regroup and have some "me" time also! We will see you, dear Carol, when you return!

Also, SHIRLEY, Trey Hatfield, a very nice person who posts on the other Blog, shot a wonderful video (with Biscuit, another Blogger)and also posted pictures of his R Family Vacation and posted it on YouTube. He had some gorgeous shots of Halifax! I just went to YouTube and searched his name, Trey Hatfield, and scrolled down (he has ALOT of videos) and found the one that said Summer 2008 Vacation R Family Cruise. I think you would and everyone else too would enjoy seeing your beautiful corner of the world! I would love to visit there some day!

MO~ Hi! Yes, Laurie is feeling much better, thank goodness! Guess those little anti-anxiety pills really do work! Thank you for asking!

BIRDEE~ Hello! Thanks for the kind words about Miss Laurie! Grease Is The Word, Is The Word!

SACBARB~ Hope you enjoyed you mani-pedi. I love when I get them!

Has anyone heard of the new Pedicure craze where you put your feet in a tub of carp fish and they nibble away at all the dead and flaky skin? OOOH! Not for me!

DREAMA and RONNIEGIRL~ Stay Safe! That nasty Dolly sure seems to be winding up for a big punch! Hope you are both High and Dry! Thinking about you both, and everyone else in Dolly's path. Stay in touch, if you can!

GOLDIE~ Sorry, but I like windchimes too! I try to be polite though, and only hang the smallish tinkling kind, although I love the sound of the large ones! I live too close to neighbors though, and don't want to be annoying when we do get the winds, which we do, here in Northern California at times. But, sometimes I think I should get them when they refuse to hush their loud outside barking dogs! Now THAT really is annoying!

Well, I am now off to "Wash That Gray Right Out Of My Hair", so I will fly in later and see what mischief you have all been up to!

Peace and Love to all, Donna Jean

Jodi, have a good nap!

Mary, County Fair, sound's like fun! Glad to make ya laugh with my list.
I'm the same way with math. I'm alway's asking Mr. B too.
Eat some junk food at the fair for me, k?

Birdee said...

Donna Jean, Hi! I would like to check out Treys' video's so I could see Shirleys' corner of the world. Thanks.

I saw that thing about the fish pedi's. I thought it was interesting, even though I think I may have seen or heard about it before. Alot of the people said it just feel's like a little tickle!
I think if it was being done around my town, I would try it. But, didn't they say it cost alot? I can't remember.

whabbear said...

Donna Jean (and anybody else who's interested):

I was joking with Trey last night about the following topic. Please give me your unbiased opinion: Does Trey look better in the 07 New York trip videos, where he is clean-shaven, or in the more recent 08 videos, where he has a goatee.

I'm not going to bias the voting by expressing my opinion before the fact! LOL!

whabbear said...

Donna Jean: Speaking of songs from South Pacific, here's a riddle:

What song did Arianna Huffington make famous after Michael Huffington came out of the closet?

Answer: "I'm going to wash that gay right out of my hair"

Hi!

I'm at work and thought I would say hello to everyone!

Whab, I'd say your would pick him with a goatee. Just a wild guess! haha!

I loved reading about the Labradoodles!

We had a Shih Tzu named Lilly, and we always said her job was just to look cute.

We took her to obedience class when she was young, and she actually passed. I always thought it was because they felt sorry for her and didn't have the heart to flunk such a cute little doggy!

Can't possibly mention eveyrone by name, so just a big, fat hello to you all!

Will check back later hopefully!

Dear Carol,
I climbed my ladder into your lovely nest, to give you a smile and a gentle {{HUG}}. When you are saddened my friend, so am I. When I think of you, a simple yet very powerful word comes to my mind....LOVE. You ARE loved, will always be loved.... for all that you do, have done, but even more importantly.....for just being YOU.
You are the yellow in my rainbow dear Carol, so I will continue to search the sky for you and wait patiently, for the brightest color to shine again.
Much love to you,

Thanks Donna Jean I will check out Trey's video. I do remember him.

Halifax is about two hours from me. I have an older sister that lives in Dartmouth, right across the harbour from Halifax. Nova Scotia is a beautiful place to visit.

Mary the Korean monument we have up in Ottawa was vandalized this week. Someone decided to put human feces on it. WTF?? I have no tolorence for people who deface monuments or flags. They should get the maximum punishment and have to clean the monuments and veteran's grave sites. It just pisses me off. Sorry for my little rant.

Sandie said...

I made it back from the vet! The good news is no one got hurt. The bad news (besides the BILL!) is that little Ippuni is probably not much longer for this world. :( His heart is giving out. He's 13 so it's expected but I sure don't want to face it. We'll just enjoy the time we have with him.

Sacbarb, goldie, ronnie, renee and birdee--it's okay to laugh at the circus vet visit--I had to laugh myself! I think people must wonder "what the heck is her house like??" LOL

Goldie, we have a friend with a labradoodle and he, too, is one goofy dog--very lovable but really goofy. We adore him.

I must say my poodles are super smart--sometimes scary smart.

Goldie, I'm sorry but I like windchimes, too. And, Donna Jean, I feel like you--my neighbor lets her dogs bark at midnight so I figure I can put chimes out there! Actually, they rarely chime--no wind, just heat here in GA! Ronnie, LOL at you writing a blog about windchimes!!

sacbarb, have fun at your card class!! I used to teach card-making classes but don't any longer. I still love making them, though!

Ronnie and Dreama, I pray that you stay safe from Dolly!

Welcome back, Jax! Safety to all in Dolly's path, and ((group grope)) to ALL Owls here today, prOWLing, or otherwise delighting in or dealing with life!

I hope you all have been having a great Humpday!!

SacBarb: What show are you ushering tonight?

Renee: Glad Bejiou was easy to train!

Sandi: Was Ippuni diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure? If so, my dog was diagnosed with that 2 years ago, and he's still doing well. He's 17 now. I hope that's encouraging news for you. The medications available nowadays are miracle drugs, especially Vetmedin (aka Pimobendan).

Jax: Nice to see you in the Nest again!

Good Afternoon Owls, I was going to take a full day's break from the computer (to give my poor fingers some time to rest) but I decided half a day is pretty good.

I haven't read all the comments. I just quickly skimmed down and saw some.

Whabbear - I think Trey looks more handsome without facial hair. I like a clean face on a man unless his chin looks better 'fluffed up' with some beard.

Mary - I think you have a great brain, just reading your posts and the fact you made lists points to left brain. Are you neat and tidy and organized? I bet you are.
That is another left brain trait.

Sandie - I am sorry about the news of your dog. I am sort of in the same position with Tango. All my vet will say is -"I don't think we will get her to 15 but we should get her to l2". I don't even want to think about it. Why can't dogs leave to be 30 like horses?

Jodi - Thanks for the phone call. I loved talking to you.

Shirley - I found the Slim Fast you left for me.

Birdee - Congrats on lst.

I know there are a lot of other owls that have posted today. I need a Diet Coke so I will catch up with them later.

I am going to read the comments now. I saw the discussion about wind chimes came up again. I want to see who besides Shirley and Ronnie and me like them. I know Goldie doesn't.

Sandie - Tango has the same heart condition. That's why I bought the stroller. She can't walk as far as Tia. On our walk when I pick her up and put her in the stroller you can hear her sigh of relief. If you put Tia in it she looks at me like I have insulted her.

Whabbear: I didn't see a picture of Trey without facial hair (I didn't see any videos?) but the picture of you two he has a goatee (and I think he looks quite handsome...you are both a lovely couple)! : )

Sandie, sorry about your fur baby. I'm glad you are cherishing the time together.

Tink: I think I told you before that I love windchimes, but I don't have any hung up. I should though (as it is much more soothing than my neighbors swearing at each other)! Yes...this is why I have a fence!!!

Well, I think Katie and I are going to watch a movie.

Sandie said...

Thank you Birdee and Jennifer!

Lovey, have I said how nice it is to see your smiling face again??

DonnaJean and Jennifer, I saw the carp pedicure on GMA the other morning. They were showing people with their feet in the water and the carp were nibbling here and there. Then, Diane Sawyer tried it and I had to laugh because about 50 carp swam over to each foot and were nibbling away! I don't think she'd had a pedicure in a while!! LOL

hartldo said...

Has anyone heard from DREAMA or RONNIEGIRL lately? I hope all is well with them after Dolly hit land.

Sandie: I'm so sorry to hear about Ippuni.

That carp pedicure idea is just too weird for me! I don't think I could do it. That reminds me....gotta warn y'all about something ....
I recently bought one of those "Ped Eggs", which is like a cheese grater for your feet. BE CAREFUL! I OVERused it and could hardly walk for days!

Sandie: I am sorry about the news on your doggie!

Lovey: I just picture your owl in your PT Cruiser with a red scarf and big sunglasses tearing up the road! LOL

Shirley: I feel the same way about people who vandalize cemetaries!

Ok the fishies eating your dead skin is just creepy!! But I always had a fear as a kid swimming in rivers and lakes of fishes coming up an biting me! Still it is just creepy!

I hope Mary is bringing back some scones this time!

I hope Ronnie and Dreama and are safe from Dolly!

Off to pick up Mr. Lynn D

I'm back~

Sandie, I'm so sorry about lppuni. I agree, why can't little fur babies live to be 30 years. Amicus's encourageing news does give me hope though.

Jax, You already know that I think this, but you have the most loving and gentle heart. I'm glad you came by.

Lovey, right back at you Sweet Lady. I'll be reading YOUR post with that beautiful Canadian accent.

hartldo, 5 sets of windchimes? I'm coming to your house when it gets windy.

Birdee, You know I love ya! Check!

Donna Jean, I kind of agree with Jennifer...carp eating dead skin? Oh my! I also love the picture of Laurie Elizabeth and her 'Grease' ponytail. Looks like she is feeling so much better. Btw, I'm not doing too well with my #2, but trying.

Mary/Mich, Have fun at the fair. I have many fond memories of county fairs across Texas. For some crazy reason, I always loved the big giant dill pickles. (and NO, I wasn't pregnant. I always skipped the fairs because of swollen feet during those times.)

Shirley, I've seen beautiful pictures of your area. What a pleasure for you to live there.

EBJ, Gotta love a good cheesecake!!

Tink, you know I lova ya.

Bon'O, Whirled peas? You sound like some of those beauty contestants, right after they say they want to be a brain surgeon. lol

Joey, Good to see you, Handsome.

Where's that damn #2 pencil?

Waving to all who come by later.

I am back and the "old gray filly" has been restored to a beautiful brunette once again! (at least the hair has)

OMG I am so tired of the cost though!! I have SHORT hair, and why does it cost just as much to cover my roots as it does some young chickie with hair down to her ying yang who waited WAY too long to have them done???? I go faithfully every 4 weeks, and it still costs over $100!!! Is that how much all you beauties pay also???
OK done bitchin and complaining!

BIRDEE~ I don't know about the cost of those Carp Pedi's. I was just worried about how they change the water without losing the fish down the drain, and still being able to fill the tank with clean fresh water! I think I will just wait and see what others think. If you do try it, though, let us know!
JENNIFER~ I agree with you!
SANDIE~ Poor Diane Sawyer, I heard the carp go for the most to "eat" How Embarrasing!!!

WHABBY~ I went back, checked out the old videos of Trey, and I must say I like him with his goatee!! But, then again, I do love me some facial hair! My hubby had a medium beard and moustache when I met and fell in love! He did shave off the beard,(gave ME a rash!) but kept the moustache, although it tickled alot! Very funny about Arianna! I do like her alot, though.

SANDIE~ I am so very sorry about the news you had today about your little Ippuni. (by any chance is that a Hawaiin word)? Many (((HUGS))) to you and your family. I am sure that you will enjoy Ippuni immensely until the time comes to let go, and I hope that will be a long time!

TINKA~ That is so funny how Tia feels insulted that she cannot walk! But how wonderful that you have the stroller for Tango. Did you get both of your fur-babies at the same time?

DONNA JO~ I am so glad you had such a good time with your daughter swimming! I sure remember those lazy hazy days of summer at the pool! I miss them! My daughters are all grown up now and with their own families! (except for Laurie of course, who is DEATHLY afraid of the pool)!

LOVEY~ I am SOOO jealous! Nothing like a brand new car! Good for you! Pull that SunRoof back, and let your hair fly into the wind! And please, let me know is it true that there are over 60 ways to arrange the interior????

RONNIEGIRL~ Thanks for the sweet comment about Laurie's picture! I just today sharpened my #2! Who knows if it will be dull by tomorrow, and you will all have to forgive me!!! I do have my grandchildren (ages 10 and 8 ) in the morning, and they totally wear me out! TINKA~ I wil join you for a much needed afternoon nap!

JOEY~ Yes, I agree SO WEIRD! No teeny tiny carps yet for me!

I too am very worried about DREAMA, haven't heard from her yet! Glad you are safe RONNIEGIRL!

OK, you have all had quite enough of me for awhile!

Till later, or maybe even tomorrow, who knows? Maybe a Late Night Surprise Post!!! LOL!

Peace and Love, Donna Jean

PS: Love and Hugs to you our sweet CAROL!

Donna Jean said...

Oh, went back, re-read my notes and the comments, and I would love to blame a broken #2, but I can't. It must be my Sometimers Disease!

ZONA~ My dear friend, I am so sorry you have been plagued with the awful Migraine Monster. I am trying to whisper, and pretend that the room is dark. I hope that your meds came through and you are feeling much better. Please remember to never let your prescription run out again. I don't want my friend in pain.

Loe ya lots, DJean

Donna Jean - Thanks for asking about my 'fur babies'. Tango is eleven. When she turned nine I started worrying about what my life would be like if I lost her and at that time her health wasn't that good. I thought if I did lose her I could never go out and buy another Bichon because that would like trying to replace her. I thought about it for a few months and then bought Tia. It was a good move. They love each other. Tia is now two and so active. Tango is slowing down. I still can't imagine my life without Tango but if something happens I know I have to keep going because of my little one. They are a big part of my life now that my grandkids are growing up.
Give Laurie a hug from me.

Hey Mo! The pedicure fish are cute!! They are little tiny fish called garra rufa or doctor fish and they have no teeth. Most people say it tickles.

Don't think I could do it either, but people are saying it's the best pedicure they've ever had!

Weird!!

I am back before tomorrow!

LOVEY~ I am sure we all would love to know all the "60 positions" you and MR LOVEY have figured out in your brand new PT Cruiser!

BUT, being the oh so polite lady that I am, I was only asking about the different ways to move the seats!!!!

TINKA~ If you are still awake, (Laurie and I are off to bed very soon), it is interesting to know that your fur-babies are of such different ages!

I have been on a serious PetFinder hunt for a fur-baby of our own. I know I mentioned this last year, but we just were not in a place yet to be serious. Now, there are a couple of doggies that we are interested in, but I have to see what the DR says on the 29th about Laurie.

I know that a little doggie will be such an addition to our family, and neither Laurie or I can wait to be able to adopt our own! I know that this new addition will help Laurie in her recovery, but that is not the only reason we want to add to our family. We have both been waiting and wanting this little doggie for so long!

We must wait until her surgery is over, though, because I cannot devote the time to both "babies"!

I am registered with Petfinders, and as soon as Laurie is OK healthwise, our Adoption Process will be in the works!

We would like to add to our family a non-shedding (due to Laurie's allergies) Maltese/Poodle mix young/adult (if possible) female doggie.

I am sure that eventually our little doggie will find us! Just as we will be looking for her!

We are definitely off now to bed, 9:20 California time! We really are NOT the stay up late party animals!!!

Till tomorrow, really,
DJean & Miss Laurie

Lovey! This ex auto worker thanks you for buying the American made car and for keeping our economy going. I did my part by buying all

Sleep? SacBarb? Any other night owls? Hello?

Just_Lin said...

Whabbear Hello!!! I am passing through. I wasn't able to spend much time here in the nest today. I've tried to read the comments but don't know how much I retained.

About the pedi-fish. Years ago in Hawaii, my mom and I put our feet in a lovely pool of water and little bitty fish would swarm all over our feet and nibble. Actually, it feels like little tiny kisses and it does tickle. It made us laugh.

I hope our Texas owls are okay.

Hi, J/L! How's things up in Pacifica?

Just_Lin said...

Hey, Bear! Beautiful day here today. It was a nice change from the gloomy overcast look we've been having of late. One of the drawbacks of living on the coast.

Just_Lin said...

I'm going to be leaving the nest now. Hope everyone has a good night's sleep and a great Thong Thursday.

Good night, J/L! I know what you mean about the gloomy days! I pray to the weather gods that the summer pattern eases a bit particularly at the end of next week, as I like it hot for Lazy Bear Weekend in Guerneville.

The forecasts are looking good this year, with above average temps at least during the day! :)

Good morning feathered friends!

I hope you all had a good night's sleep and had pleasant dreams.

Today the sun is shining bright, the humidity is pretty low and the temp is going to be about 80...a beautiful day. I hope you all see the sun today.

Off to both jobs today, so I wont be back until late.

Happy THONG THURSDAY my friends!
