I had to work this morning, so I left the kids Valentine bags on the table, and a bag with "holiday" boxers for MR. JODI. He stopped at work with the cutest card. Not really a Valentine card, but it works for me. It has a pic of a girl in a dance outfit on the front, and on the inside it says...."get ready for the thank you dance"!!! He just makes me laugh....I guess I'll keep him around for another 22 years (22 years ago today we had our first "real date"!!)

I thought I'd share this from Dear Abby...
DEAR ABBY: I clearly remember my first Valentine's Day. I was in first grade. A few days before, my mom asked how many kids were in my class, and we went to a store and bought large packages of valentines -- one for every child in the class. The cards were all the same size and said, basically, the same thing.
When I arrived at school, each classmate had a small box on his or her desk. At some point during the day, I went around the room and gave each child a valentine. There was one for the quiet one in the back, the most popular girl in class, the prettiest and even the boys. This was long before society taught me that such a show of affection had to exclude people of the same gender as me. By the end of the day, everyone had a full box of valentines to take home.
One desk, one box ... the love of a child.
As I grew older, society taught me to narrow my offering of affection, picking only those I chose to be special or worthy. Eventually, I was taught to limit my valentines to only one person. More time went on, and then a card was not enough. To show that really special person what she meant to you, you needed to send flowers, candy and jewelry.
Apparently, as we grew older it took more and more to fill those boxes. Now we absolutely could not give to more than one person. People hire detectives to make sure that the person isn't filling anyone else's. And if you had no one to send you anything, you were saddened by your big, empty box filled only with sadness and despair.
Today, I am taking back from society what it has taken from me. I'm counting how many people play a role in my life, and I am buying "virtual" packages of cards. I have one for every single one of you -- man or woman, young or old, straight or gay, married or single. Each card is the same size, they all say the same thing -- that I appreciate who you are and what you have to contribute to each other.
I invite each and every one to do the same, so that no box is empty and the shy ones, the pretty ones, the popular ones and those who are less so go home tonight with a full box of valentines.
One virtual desk, one virtual box, and the love of a child at heart. I wish you all a happy Valentine's Day.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY OWLS!!! I went to my granddaughters basketball game today (not in the snow, TINA, as our courts are inside in Denver) and they won. It was their last game and now it is almost time the next sport to start up. MrD and I took my Aunt to lunch before her nap and now we are home for awhile. I do think we have reservations to go out to dinner. I am the person that likes to go out to eat for New Year's Eve, Valentines Day, etc., and my husband found reservations available but kind of late as he waited but he still surprised me, so I appreciate that a lot.

Diane/Denver: I'm the ultimate wus when it comes to weather. I start pissin' and moanin' when it drops below 80. It's my thin CA blood. I just finished doing some work in Italy, near the Swiss border (think ALPS). It was colder than cold and I let everyone know. "Not fit for human life."

BTW....I'm 51..no wait..52 and live in one of those cold, snowy, hell froze over kinda places and right about now I'm wanting to trade. I have fur babies and 3 significant children all grown (well, mostly) Oh yeah, I have an SO too, in fact he lives here. Come to think of it, I haven't seen him since the chocolate attack this morning...I think he still lives here.

Hi everybody, sorry about the deleted post.
We just got back from dinner. I had some fancy flit Mignon with bacon wrapped around it with a blue cheese crusted topping,red mashed potatoes,salad and wine. We managed to drive through the 5 inches of heavy snow! It was a relaxing dinner. I was surprised there were so many out in this weather.
On a sad note:
I came home to an answering machine message that said another one of our VFW Aux. ladies had passed away. We have lost 11 in the past 8 years. Mr Mary said "it makes sense, we have lost a lot of the WWII Vets, their wives are now going". Her name was Annie, her son used to baby sit my sons. They are in their 40's now. At her Husbands funeral many years ago they played an old country song that he loved. It described how he felt about his wife. It was called "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife" There wasn't a dry eye in the place. I am wondering if they will play it again.
She died peacefully in her sleep with all her children with her. What more can you ask.

I'm sitting here trying not to think about food.
My mom & dad surprised me today with a new table and six chairs. She said the money came from my late grandma.
On one hand I was excited. On the other hand it sort of felt weird. Would she have done this if hubby was making what he was a year ago?
My sister told me to stop letting my imagination go and to just enjoy it.

I started the day in a skirt and t-shirt... it was in the 50's.. when tthe sun went down the temp dropped fast and then for about 30 minutes we got rqained and sleeted on... then when I got home ..we had a dusting of snow!!!
Town didn't have any snow but we did on the mountain!!
