This whole week I will be at the Summer Agriculture Institute. I am very excited about it and I wanted to share what I will be doing with you. Most of the week I will be at farms!
Monday- I will learn about wind turbine and local food efforts.
Tuesday- We will be going to a hogg farm and then a factory that makes feed for animals.
Wednesday- We will go to Holland & Sons, Inc (tractors). Then to the John Deere Historic Site and finally go to Crundwell Quarter Horses.
Thursday - We will travel to Rare Earth, I have no idea what that is. Then in the afternoon we go to Coneflower Farms and Tiskilwa Farms Alpacas, LLC.
Friday-We have to present a project in front of our peers.
In the state of Illinois I have to take so many classes every five years in order to be recertified. I'm so excited about this Institute that I think I would have taken it anyway! So that made me think about other classes that I have always wanted to take, but never have follow through with it.
I would love to take the following classes that have nothing to do with my recertification.
cake decorating (even though I think I would be kicked out for
eating all the frosting)
ballroom dancing
quilting
Every kind of history class you could think of just for the fun of it.

Morning Glories!
Don't get to comfortable at first Tina, I'm baaaaack! LOL
Wow MEK you just missed first! What the hell are you doing up this early?
Iteach your agenda sounds like fun! I would like to attend all of those classes.
My list of things to learn someday:
Pottery
Jewelry making
Story writing
Weaving
Making rag rugs
Photography
I love history too!!
Stained glass and glass fusing
I could go on and on.
Good Morning OWLETTES!!!!
Tina... congtrats on 1st...MEK... What are you doing up sooo early...
Morning LynnD...
Good Monday Morning!
ITEACH: I would love to go back to school. I've been thinking about it for a long time. I need to quit thinking..and DO IT! I'd love to take computer courses and Literature classes.
Have fun this week ITEACH!
TINA: Congrats on ONE..isn't that a song? ;)
MEK: Only two more days of double digit temps..then we soar..are you ready?? I know some great ways to cool off... :D
G'morning LYNND...Photography!! Add that one to my list! :)
HI IBB!
Lynn and IBB - YES, WTF am I doing up this early??!! excellent question!!
As Zona just pointed out - our temps are soaring, so I'm off to the dog park for our "youngest young" to burn off energy before it gets TOO hot!!
then - it's a busy, busy day for me!!
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
Iteach - thank you for your blog today!!
you will LOVE taking cake decorating classes!! :-)
I need to take classes to increase my computer skills!!
I'll think of more as the day goes on...
gotta run..
OH - and did ya'll see the "celebration" in LA after they won the Basketball championship last night...
it is just mindboggling that people feel the need to destroy others property in their "joy"!!
I just don't get it...
Oh and one more thing...
Update on SacBarb's son..
things are going well- but please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!!!
:-)
Good Morning MEK, Zona, IBB, LynnD and Tina!! Lots of people up early today.
iteach, I've been impressed by your attitude in the past and this is no exception. Who knew agriculture could be so interesting?
Tina, what happened to you? We thought you were curled up in the fetal position, sucking your fingers.
MEK, good point about the L.A. victory celebration. Our tax dollars at work, cleaning up after it. If I were in charge, I'd deport all the participants to Somalia. On a cargo ship.
Good Morning All
Congrats Tina on being first.
I will take my 'fur babies' out and I will be back.
Iteach - I will be back to read your blog. It looks very interesting. I have impatient puppies beside me.
Iteach - Your blog was inspiring. I feel like learning something new. One thing I never did and wish I had done was to learn to speak more languages. I took French at University and I can read it but I can't speak it. When I had the Japanese and Chinese students I would have them teach me a word a day. The only one I remember is "Ha Da Ka" which mean "naked" in Japanese. I have no idea why I remember that one. I so agree with the idea of continuing our education even when we are finished with the formal classes. That farm sounds intriguing. Thanks for sharing.
I forgot to start with my "Good Mornings".
Good Morning Tina, Mek (who tied for first Shirley), Lynn, (love your goals), Zona-My-Baby and Bonacci.
Zona - Computer classes is one thing I have kept up with. I go three times a month. It's funny though every time I have a problem with myspace I have to run to you or VIG. Computer classes do not teach you anything about social net-working. I don't know how you two know so much.
Time for breakfast. Be back soon. Have a great day everyone.
Iteach~ Fabu blog~ I took a cake decorating class....that was so fun~ I'd love to take more scrapbooking classes and eventually a quilting class~ Maybe even a crocheting class....there are a couple of things I'd love to learn how to make~
Bonacci~ I was...but I had to work today, so ya know....had to get up~
Mek~ HA-HA!!!~ :D
LynnD~ bring it on~ :D
Tina - Good Morning. Last year I enrolled in a scrapbooking class. It got postponed because the teacher was sick. The second time it was called off because it snowed. The third time I was sick. I paid my money so one of these days I will get there. I would so love to scrapbook.
Good morning!
Congrats on the tie for 1st to Tina and MEK!
The Agriculture Institute sounds so interesting! The agenda is cool. I would like to take the course just because I am sure there is lots to learn and see.
I hope you are taking lots of pics!
We have to take so many CEUs every other year, too. I have taken some really cool classes over the years.
I would love to take US History again.
One of the best classes I ever took was Religions of the World.
I thought it would be very dull, but it was one of the most fascinating courses I ever took.
There are snake rituals in the deep south, which I had no idea about. Rituals of celebrating the dead, it went on and on.
Lynn D how was your weekend away?
Hey Zona, IBB, Bonacci, Tinka!
SacBarb still thinking of you and your son!
Hope everyone has a good day today!
Morning--so here I sit at the dentist office waiting to see why I'm still in pain. I'm hoping its not a different tooth (just my imagination, right)?
ITEACH-enjoy your classes this week.
Everyone have a good day
SACBARB-hope your son continues to improve
HI East Bay J and Dianne.
East Bay J - Any little kitty stories for us today? I love hearing them.
Dianne - I feel for you sitting in the dentist's office. I still have fear of the dentist even though it rarely hurts anymore. I think it's memories from childhood that come swarming back. As a kid I had a dentist who was formerly an Army dentist. He was so rough. On my way to his office I would literally wish that I could be hit by a truck rather than go. That sounds so dramatic but it's true.
I just made my first trip out of the house by myself since I got sick. It felt pretty good.
I think I am going to march to 50. Mek are you there to play with me?
I guess you aren't here Mek or you would join me.
I anyone in the nest?
I guess not.
Time for Slim Fast and an early nap. See you all later.
VIG - I forgot to say I was thinking of you. I hope you have a good time in Vancouver. I will talk to you when you get home.
WOW iteach kudos to you!!!
ok who's lurking....
pencil that in would ya Shirley~
Good Afternoon Hooters!

Hiya Goldie
Congrats on 1st tina~ and congrats on your 69 kgirl!!
iteach- its wonderful that you are so excited to learn. I'm sure that is what makes it great for your students too.
Hi kgirl- did your friend get their stuff back after it was stolen? Maybe we can put fat Stanley on the case........
Tina Kudos on being #1 today. I guess you have recovered from the two birthday parties.
Tinka and Kgrl Great marching today!
iteach Thanks for your blog today. That sounds really fun and interesting. You will have a different adventure each day. I used to be quite artistic until life and motherhood got in the way. Sometimes I think I should take some kind of art course. I think I'd also find photography very interesting. Of course, I'd have to get a good camera if I were to pursue that.
Waving at all my other Owl friends.
Don't know if anyone knows this already but Joey's dad died. He found out this morning and is heading out of town.
Goldie:
No she has not. It is a small island and these two guitars are both handmade and family heirlooms. Hers is made out of Koa wood by a local master guitar maker. The second guitar is actually her Aunties (who is a famous performer here) who had loaned it to her for a special performance she is doing in Los Angeles this week. Check her out on itunes, her name is Anuhea and she has a nice tone to her voice.
Hugs to Joey~
Joey I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It's very hard to lose a parent. My thoughts are with you. (((HUGS)))
Goldie Thank you for letting us know.
ITEACH - I'm glad you're excited for your class. Continuing ed is always a good thing!! Will you be giving us a report when you're done? I've always thought about going back to school....just haven't made it quite yet.
JOEY - (((HUGS))) to you. So sorry for your loss.
TURTLE - Nice march....was it good for you?!!?
Just got back from getting my brakes fixed. So the windup car is up and running again!!! Thankfully I have a friend that does repair work on the side.
Waving a wing @ EVERYONE!! Got called into work @ 4:30 this morning....ON MY DAY OFF!!! Oh, well, that just means I get to leave early tomorrow!!
NAPTIME....while my laundry is drying. I'll bbl. :O)
Joey - My thoughts and prayers are with you. ((((Hugs)))))
I see got a call from the clinic saying the tests on my flu with inconclusive. Although I would have liked to have known if I had H1N1 I think I am relieved that I am not a Victoria statistic. I had already been sick 9 days when the test was done. That is probably the reason why it was inconclusive. They only did it because there were other confirmed cases on that ship. I was getting better by that point. So now I am going to put the whole idea out of my head and just enjoy the summer and my cruise memories.
Joey I'm so sorry for your loss. Please know I'm thinking of you ((((HUGS))))
Tinka, a friend of mine and her husband went on an Alaska cruise in April.
She got sick on the ship and was confined to her cabin. I will have to find out if they tested her. Probably not.
I think they were on the Princess line.
That is terrible to be sick on a trip like that!
I don't have any funny Nancy stories today. She is napping right now.
She is a biter. I think it's because she doesn't have any litter mates, or a mother to teach her manners. She bites us constantly, it's playing, but her teeth are sharp!
The weather today is so strange. It is hot, but gloomy and gray outside. It almost looks like it will rain!
So sorry to hear about Joey's dad. Only someone truly remarkable could have raised a kid who grew into the man Joey has become.
Hugs to you, Joey.
EBJ, I have a chihuahua named Ernie who I thought would be a problem with biting. The day after I brought him home, he bit me. And he would attack my toes every time I got out of the shower.
It didn't last. He's as gentle as a lamb. I kind of miss the days when I did an entire River Dance performance before I was even dressed.
I sure hope my daughter and I don't get sick on our Alaskan cruise. We'll be on Princess in late July.
I'm back...........
I'm ready to bore you with all kinds of ag. facts that I found interesting.
To begin with- who do we (US) export most of our corn too?
No googling, just give me a good guess. The answer will be relieved at 8:00 central time.
Bonacci, I think the name Ernie is adorable! What a cute name for a Chihuahua!
Nancy has started to dig her claws into our legs to climb up, since she can't quite make the jump to our laps. So needless to say, my legs are scabbed and raw from her.
MR. EBJ asked me if I think something is wrong with her, as she bites all the time, wanting to play.
She will jump up and attack your nose and bite it! She is so tiny but has tons of energy, and is fearless.
I am not sure what to do to make her stop. I am embarassed to call the vet clinic where we got her! I have a couple friends who are vets so I may have to ask them.
She is also a cuddler, when she is getting tired she wants to be held and have her head and belly rubbed.
I love reading all the different classes you all would love to take!
Right now keep using my kids as an excuse, but I really need to do something just for me.
Iteach I will guess Mexico. My second guess is China.
EBJ, for a minute I thought you were talking about my husband when you were describing your pet. :)
Tinka, I'm so glad you are feeling better.

Iteach your hubby bites? lol
Thanks Iteach. Loved your blog. I must get dinner ready. Have a great evening owls.
Lol, he just likes his belly rubbed. :)
Tinka, way to sneak up on us with that 100! :)
I will be BBL too, with some wonderful ag. facts!
EBJ That's what Nancy would be doing with with littermates; play fighting, practicing, actually. Maybe you could direct her attention to a soft toy she can beat up, instead.
iteach My first guess what China, then I thought Mexico and China second, just like EBJ. Great minds...and all that.
BTW, my old kitty's lab work shows that her kidneys are much improved. : )
japan?
Japan....
Tina and Kgrl Great guess! I bet you're right.
ITEACH...great blog! I love your zest for learning and teaching. Your students, and children, are blessed to have you to learn from.
I would like to take classes to learn about medical coding. I need to expand my horizons so I can find a more lucrative career.
For fun, I would like to learn how to blow glass (no smart ass comments, TINA!!!!), etch glass and do stained glass. I'd also like to take cooking classes.
JOEY...my deepest condolences to you and your family. {{{HUGS}}}
TINA...so glad you survived the parties! When you didn't stop in yesterday I thought maybe the in-laws descended and you ran for the hills!
LYNN...how was your weekend away?
Is the corn exported for food or ethanol??
Joey, I'm so sorry about your daddy. :(
Turbine also known as windmill
We went to Bureau Valley High School that has a turbine.
There yearly electrical bill was $145,000 now with wind energy there yearly bill is only $45,000.
It is a wonderful source of renewable energy.
This high school is about 30 minutes south of me.
Turtle and Tina were right! Japan!
I will be BBL to talk more about corn. Yes, I know you are all too excited!!! It is a sad day in the nest when we resort to listening to Jennifer ramble on about corn. lol
All I really know about corn is that it looks the same going out as it did going in.
ITEACH: I love your info! We just got a $350 electric bill..I wonder if I can put a windmill in the backyard to generate some wind energy? Or..I could just feed Mr Z beans..ijs..
TINA: I think you know who invented corn..don't you? ;)
TINKA: The only thing I'm good at on the computer is googling..and VIG showed me how to do that! :D
DIANNE: What did you find out at the dentist? I hope you will be getting some relief soon!
MEK: How did the pups like the dog park? Did Tug behave?
KGRL: I hope your friend finds her guitars and computer soon. People can be so rotten sometimes.
MO: Thank you for the sweet comment yesterday. I know what would happen if I tried to blow glass..I'd inhale by mistake... ;)
JODI: Thank you kiddo..you're the best! I hope your son's teams won both games!
EBJ: My sister's cat would always wrap it's arms and legs around my arm and NOT LET GO!! I used to get the worst scratches and bites...yeeeowwwch..
GOLDIE: Waving wildly atcha!
J/LIN: I would love to go on a cruise..well..if I didn't have to get on a boat and sail out into the ocean I would! ;)
'ello BONACCI!
Gotta go make dinner..or pretend to make dinner..or something..
Have a good evening all!!
JOEY: I am so sorry to hear about your loss..my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. {{HUGS}}
CAROL: Be careful movin' movin' movin'... :)
TINKA: It's going to be 106 on Friday...get ready for a visitor! ;)
Dinner..oh yeah..forgot.. :D
JL I'm soooo glad that your kitty's kidney function has improved!!!

Good evening everyone! I have been on the go all day.Tomorrow looks like the same. I will be on my on personal vaca. because Mr Mary is going on a fishing trip with his Buddie and brothers in the Mich.U.P. (Upper Peninsula).I will have the bed to myself!! yay!! He has restless"body" syndrome! He kinda flips around like a fish all night! I will enjoy the "calm seas" lol!
Iteach, I have always wanted to take sign language classes. I may do that this fall. I have wanted to take some kind of Vietnamese/Chinese kind of classes so I could shock my mani/pedi people when they rattle off in their foreign language to each other lol!
Joey, I am so sorry about your Father :( You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
U.S. consumers have the safest, least expensive food in the world. They spend just 10 percent of their disposable income for food compared to France where they pay 15 percent and Japan where it's 26 percent. And that 10 percent for food in the United States is only half of what it was 50 years ago.
Only 1% of corn grown in the U.S. is directly eaten by consumers.
The other 99% is field corn which is used for livestock, feed, exports, and ethanol.
Illinois actually produces enough corn each year to fill a train of box cars stretching more than 7,600 miles from here to Hong Kong.
Farmers only get $0.19 of every $1 consumers spend on groceries.
That's a lot of corny stuff. Very entertaining and informative. Thank you, iteach!
Good Night everyone. It's bedtime in the West.
Zona - You underestimate how much you know. You have helped me out so many times with myspace. I think you are a genius. I will get the guest room ready. It's always cool in there.

Goodnight Tinka and everyone else. It is late here in Mich. Stay safe and sleep tight.
Same to all the happy hookers, er I mean lurkers lol!!
Iteach - I have enjoyed the corn lessons today!! thank you!!
joey - so sorry to hear about your loss - thoughts and prayers to you and your family..
Great marching today by everyone!!
hope everyone has an excellent Tuesday!!

UPDATE FROM SACBARB...
i spoke with her this afternoon (she woke me up from my nap - but we won't tell her! shh).
Her son is doing better - I won't go into detail...
but - she REALLY, REALLY wants to thank everyone for their continued thoughts and prayers - I told her that when she finally gets a chance to read the comments - she will be "feeling the love"!!!
i also told her to take care of herself - cuz sitting in a hospital all day, every day, can totally take its toll on a person!!
So - that is the end of the UPDATE!!
I'm off to bed - made a dog walking date for 6a.m. tomorrow - have NO idea what i was thinking at the time!!
:-)
iteach It was fun to learn all that stuff about corn today. I look forward to future reports from you.
SacBarb I'm so glad your son is on the road to recovery. Continued good thoughts going your way.
