Dirty Jers?
Just a little snippet of my life at the Jersey Shore, the house I stay @ is not on the beach, its on the bay, so that lovely (I say that jokingly) water you see is the bay where all the boats come thru. Once the boats ride out to the open bay, they eventually get to the Atlantic Ocean, once there the boat speeds up and sails the coast. So fun! I have been on many boats in my lifetime and the rush from the quiet bay to the rough ocean is amazing.
Most of the houses you see are summer homes for people, so it was kinda quiet. Most Jerseyans don't go down to their summer homes (for the entire summer) till the kids are out of school, which is not till the end of June. I am sure I will be back to the house again in the midst of the Summer and will certainly try to take more vid.
The name of this blog will be mentioned in the vid, I had no idea about this "phrase" till one of the Italian Stallions shared it with me.
And I thought my state was know as the "garden state". HA!

I crack up thinking about it..
I know its a on going joke, that if someone is from NJ, you ask them what exit on the Garden State Parkway are you from? The GSP, as many, many exits and each one is numbered, and each one is a different part of NJ. So once you knew the exit, you surly knew where the person is from in NJ..
But I never heard of "Dirty Jers"

I also wonder why you are filming a seagull? In my state they are considered just as bad as pigeons. Actually we refer to them as water pigeons. They are greedy suckers looking for a handout and will swarm in great groups if they think you have food! I was raised down by the Ocean Beaches here in WA and we learned very quickly not to feed the Seagulls! They would take out a toddler in a heart beat! LOL

Seagulls are the same here, the hover over ya on the beach, in parking lots etc, especially when there is food around. I run from them, I don't get very far tho..
This seagull was actually drinking the pool water which I thought was kinda cute plus he/she was alone but I did not have my flip with me in was in the house, by the time I came back out he/she was done drinking.,. It was kinda a spur of the moment flip..
Carol he was trying to lull you into thinking he was innocent and so sweet. As soon as the food came out his silent buddy alarm would have gone off and I would have seen the camera drop and a bunch of Jersey feet running for cover! LMAO

Well I have to take a shower now as the refresh button on my computer does not seem to apply to me.
We were having problems with the walk in freezer yesterday at the food bank and I need to head up there and hope it is really working this morning! If not it is going to be a long day as we have lots of meat that will have to be transferred to a chest freezer and a repairman will have to be called.
I keep wondering if the record breaking heat we've been having is effecting the damn thing.

Well, I am certainly glad all is fixed.. and you are up and running, or is that up and swimming.. ;O)
Zona, I'm doing better since my shower...I honestly only took it cuz I thought I would be needing to call my mother to take me to the DR. Yesterday I woke up with a really bad stiff neck and headache.
Last night I had the heating pad on, it helped alittle. But, this morning I was very close to bawling my ass off and getting light headed!
So, I figured if anyone was gonna see me, I better at least be cleaned up!
It's not great, but I'm better than I was a couple of hour's ago!
If I could stay in the shower all day, I would!

Carol...Loved the video! I have never heard New Jersey called Dirty Jers either. We go to Atlantic City a lot as in its a halfway rest stop between here and my Dad's house. It used to amaze me how much the scenery changed once you stepped off the Boardwalk. The rest of the city was very rundown and....well...dirty. They have made progress toward changing that lately though. The last time we were there, I was amazed at the designer stores that had opened up on the main drag.
I think my favorite place in New Jersey is Cape May. I love the old Victorian homes and of course, The Inn of Cape May, which is restored Grand Hotel. It even has an Antique Shop in the lobby!!!!
BIRDEE: Do you think it might be arthritis? Carol is right, next time (hopefully it won't happen again) you have those symptoms..you might want to check with a doctor. I know I know..look who's talking..Ms Doctorphobe..lol..

my dear friend Quin ,that I lost last year, was a jersy girl.. and would take many trips to the Jersy shore every summer... never heard her talk bad about it either!!!
I am just drdopping by... have soooo much to do today... must get ready ... "relay for Life" is tomorrow... our team 'Alice's Angels" have raised 1700.00 already... and this year there are 37 teams... a couple teams have gone over the 5000.00 mark.. AMAZING...
we should have a blast tomorrow night...hope the rain stops so we don't have to float around track!!!

Carol, I've never heard "Dirty Jers" before, either! My cousin's son (my cousin once removed I believe is the proper term--LOL!) lives in NJ. I'll have to ask him if he's heard that before. I loved your place on the bay--very nice.
Birdee, I hope you feel better real soon. I had headaches, neck and shoulder aches for a long time and after many doctor visits, meds, etc. I went to a chiropractor and he fixed me right up! I'm not saying that's what will work for you but you may want to keep it in mind if your doctor's orders don't help. He also told me to use ice three times a day for ten minutes (I had been using a heating pad, too) and boy did that make a difference! Good luck.
Zona, nine hours on the phone??? OMG, you must have so much patience. I guess you do what it takes to get back on line but geez, that's a long time!

SCIRISH - It is true that sometimes a chiropractor can do wonders. And, in most cases a soft ice pack is a miracle worker. It is so common to carry tension in the neck and shoulder areas.

Carol, I think your nephew was blowing smoke up your dress (or something). I've never heard that term and I asked a friend who is from Jersey and she never heard it either. I loved the vid. It looks so peaceful there.
When I was visiting my Uncle in New York a few years ago, he took me to the Hamptons and we ate our picnic lunch outside. We were so harassed by the seagulls that we had to go eat in the car. There were a million (slight exaggeration) of those damn birds dive bombing us.
LynnD, congrats on hanging in there to get #1. If you have to get a repairman for the freezer, I hope he is a hunk.
Zona, WHAT! No more eggs? Say it isn't so! Have you found a support group that will help you through the withdrawals? If so, I need the number. I'll call it right after I collect the Italy egg.

LANI: from 51..swimming really does help my knees..and my asthma. I'm not saying I can swim 10 laps and just skip into the house though. I keep my inhaler close by cuz there's an awful lot of wheezing!
SACBARB: Everyone has seen so many seagulls..I've only seen ONE! He didn't seem too unpleasant. ;)

Carol~ I've never heard of Dirty Jers either~ I always think of Jersey as the Garden state~ I took the kids from Baltimore to Philly one day....just for the day and on the drive back, I asked my son if he wanted to go back to Maryland or into New Jersey for a little drive. He wanted to see every state, so he picked Jersey....it was so pretty and green~ Yes, I've been to Newark, so I know the whole state isn't as green as the southern portion, but I'll always remember the green~
I'm just sitting here waiting for Di to get up.....you know....she's old and tires easily....and someone.....i won't mention any names....zona...kept us up late/early!!!!
Lani~ i always forget to tell you how you make me laugh....the other day when you said you were God....or close to it anyway....I laughed so hard....that's what DeeDee says~ :)~
btw....the seagull is Utah's state bird!!!! It's a Morman thing....long story~ ugh!!!

I am home! Freezer was not working. Had to call repair people took 6 phones call because everyone was fully booked because of our wacky weather! The last place I called was wonderful as soon as they heard it was for a food bank they sent out the next available tech! Yay! Sacbarb he was awfully cute but I really did not notice at the time because I was so worried how much this would cost and if he would be able to fix it! It was the crappy record breaking heat yesterday that triggered the outside cooling units to shut off! So the call is less then $100.00 yay we can just barely pay that for now but he is going to bill us! Yay again! I was going to write a personal check if it was over $100.00. I told him we operate on a shoestring and angel wings most of the time! LOL
You know I was thinking that seagull is either very smart or desperate. The water must be pretty bad if he is drinking chlorinated pool water.
Zona um you are pretty talented that you can post while Mr. Z is "swimming"! Isn't that code for bumping uglies?

Hello...well, this has been a busy house since last night. MrD seems exhausted today--smiling but exhausted!! It was a crowded sleep when we finally went to bed this morning :)
MEK: I am going to try and get this girl up to the mountain restaurant we went too. She told me she "wanted to make new memories" so I told Tina that we would sit at a different table!!!
Funny story...I was at my daughters the other night and she was telling the girls that their other grandparents were going to watch them for a couple of hours last night. Emilee (youngest) in her most serious face and voice said to my daughter, "we can't go there tomorrow night." Tammy asked her why not and she said, "Tina is coming tomorrow night and she wants to see us." Tammy told her she would see her the next night and Em was still insistant..."no, Tina is coming." I asked her how she knew Tina's name and both the girls said you always talk about her and that Z-girl too. So tonight is the big night...they get to meet TINA!! Hope she lives up to what they have in mind!! I also hope they haven't heard me talk about her reputation!!!!!!!

He is a transplant from SF and has only been in Jersey almost 2 years, so it might not be a term he's familiar with.

Fun day today. MEK, went back to Idaho Springs for lunch but we didn't get the private room this time so had to behave. This was a quick trip for Tina but so glad she was able to stay for a couple of days. I'm in bed now and I left mrD and TINA on the computers--i am pooped
