~ Mary Did You Know ~

by Tina~in_ut

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. It amazes me to really sit back and think of Mary as a mother, let alone, the Mother of God. I know how it felt when my first child was born and hubby and I would just stare at him in amazement and wonder what he would be like when he grew up......frankly we still wonder, but now we pray A LOT for Mr. Smartmouth!!!!! I can't imagine what it was like for Mary, or for anyone who gives birth to someone who does great things with their life, like Pope John Paul II. Today I heard that he is one step closer to becoming a Saint. His mother died when he was 8 years old and never got to see all the wonderful things he accomplished. I wonder if she had any idea in the short time she had with him, what a special man he would become to the world. For those of you with grown children, did you know they would become who they are today?

Tina, Thanks for the vid. Soothing song to wake up to. I forgot they did this song....Love Kenny and Wy!!

Just wish he hadn't gotten that face lift! He was nice to look at!

G'morning!

TINA: I love this song too. There are just some songs that give you goosebumps..and this is one of them. I don't have children of my own, but when my aunt brought my cousin Mario home from the hospital..she talked on and on about what she wanted him to be when he grew up...happy, healthy and kind. And he is..so I know she saw her dreams fulfilled.

Great video today TINA..thank you.

BIRDEEEEE!!: Congrats on FIRST! I agree about Kenny Rogers. I didn't even recognize him after his facelift..he looked..well..spooky.

Birdee said...

Well, I've been thinking about your question, Tina....
I guess the main thing I alway's thought about when my son was small, was that he would be happy and be a good person. I also hoped he wouldn't take after his dad in some aspect's.
I got part of my wish. He's a good husband and father but, in some area's he can be a jerk like his dad. If he lived closer, I could still work on that part of him.

Mr Z is still making cookies..he's about halfway done..I asked if I could help..he said he has it under control..ok then..off to the farms! :D

Have a great day everyone!

Birdee said...

Hey Zona!!! didn't see you fly in. Busy thinking and typing!! ;o)

Good to see you're not stuck in the snow!!!

Birdee said...

Guess I'll get the mop and start cleaning up all this water before the rest of the Owl's wonder in...

Wouldn't want you all to slip and fall.

Zona said...

BIRDEE: LOL! I was able to pull myself out of that snowdrift last night..but sometimes I think it would be fun to be stuck in the snow..kwim? ;)

How are Boz, Ruby and Pepper doing? I hope they are frisky and tail wagging happy! Give them all a hug for me..ok? :)

Birdee said...

Oh Carol, if you want to dress me up for the holiday's...feel free!
Maybe that would help to get me in the spirit. ;o)

Birdee said...

Zona, dog's are doing pretty good.
We have a little snow now, so they have been running around in it.
I'll give 'em a hug and a rub for ya!

Birdee said...

Been meaning to tell ya, I'm really glad Nikki is doing ok.

Zona said...

BIRDEE: Nikki is back to her ol' goofball self..thanks! :)

Maureen said...

BIRDEE...I was just gonna get the shop vac out and suck up all the water, snow, urine and other asst. mess left on the floor!

Maureen said...

ZONA...the cookies smell awesome! Tell Mr.Z he is doing a great job!

Maureen said...

TINA...I can't listen to the vid, but I LOVE this song. I have the Clay Aiken Christmas CD and this is my favorite song.

I'm sure that your JR's will all accomplish great things that you will be able to see and be proud of. I don't know of either of the boys will become Pope or not, but I am confident they will be kind and great citizens of the earth. Afterall, they have a great role model...their dad!!! bwahahahaha

Maureen said...

Kenny Rogers is downright scary looking after his face lift. He was so handsome before

Birdee said...

Morning MO!!! didn't mean to leave ya hanging....BIL called about Christmas plan's and then I had to get some breakfast! Sorry!!!

Good idea on that shop vac...easier than a mop! How come I didn't think of that??? LOL

Maureen said...

BIRDEE....s'ok! I was on the phone, too. So what are your Christmas plans?

Dianne/Denver said...

TINA; I love this song. I thought it was a new song this year. I was just asking the kids about it last night as we listened to Christmas carols in the car if they had heard it. I had no idea who even sang it...besides me (and hopefully not you). I will be playing this video a lot now that I actually have the song to play...thanks. I love the words to it. Great video but especially great song..you must have been reading my mind~!!

Now...why are there snowflake peas everywhere in this nest? I think SHRLEY had them in the snowballs she was throwing at everyone. What a mess when I went to bed but it is getting better and glad to see some new owls are doing the clean-up this time (about time). I can't be using any energy this morning as I have to save it all up to cheer the Broncos and boo the Raiders in a few hours.

I can't even believe I woke up so early. I think the smell of ZONA'S cookies and knowing that I had a weeks work ahead of me to do and about 3 hours today to do it...woke me up. Plus Survivor finale is on tonight so I would try and wrap during it.

Dianne/Denver said...

BIRDEE; You don't look like Christmas at all. I would change you but I wouldn't have the first idea on how to do it so guess you are going to have to wait for your fashion designer CAROL to spend some time on you. I hope she gets to it soon as it just isn't Christmas looking at your avatar...nothing personal, right?

Ok, going to go and do some wrapping. My SIL is out shopping for my daughter and calling me on a regular basis to check on things I gave him a list on. She always buys her own things, wraps them and tells him not to get her anything and then she gets pouty when he doesn't. I keep telling her to let him have some fun in the crowed stores too but I was able to think of some things she won't know he is getting.

TINA: Thanks again for having the song available to listen too. Too bad I don't know how to put it on my computer to listen to all the time. Maybe I will ask MrD to help out.

wrap, wrap, wrap......bye.

Tina - I love that song and I loved your blog.

Good morning to you and to Birdee (first), Zona-My-Baby, Maureen and Dianne. I will be back this afternoon. Our morning is full of things that still need to be done. Have a great day everyone. Later I will go back and see how the party went last night.

Just_Lin said...

Birdee Congrats on being first this morning! Or did you just spend the night on the buffet table? We really must get Carol to find your clothes for you.

Zona How lucky are you to have Mr. Z do all the baking? I'm lucky, too. My mom always makes fudge and a couple of different kinds of cookies to bring up for the holiday. I do plan to make some frosted sugar cookies. They don't look like anything great but my DIL and grandkids like them. I think I'll do that today.

MO I was lucky enough to see Kenny Rogers perform when he still looked like Kenny Rogers. I thought he used to be nice looking, too. He used to have kind eyes, now they are just scary.

Dianne I'll be watching my the 49ers today so if you hear a lot of swearing, that's why. ;)

Tinka Congrats on 25. I hope you have a great day.

Tina Beautiful song! I LOL @ Mr. Smartmouth. I remember those times well. My son spent most of his teenage years in his room blasting heavy metal music and playing along with his electric guitar. He absolutely hated school, pretty much since the first day of kindergarten. Now that he is a daddy, which he absolutely LOVES, he became very involved with his kids' school, volunteering as an assistant in the classroom. He still plays heavy metal guitar, though. My daughter was always very organized and picky. She still is. As a kid she said she didn't want to have children because they were too much trouble. She's in her 30's now and never changed her mind about that.

Dianne/Denver said...

No worries TINK...your daughter was in a prone position before she drank the jello so that worked out nicely and BEAR stood us up and I don't get into as much trouble without him around at a party. He is a bad influence on me! He tried to get me to wear my Lone Star costume from Halloween to the Christmas party but a girl has to draw the line somewhere!

Got some things wrapped now time to get ready for party and Bronco game.

BIRDEE; I also kind of not wanting to look at your cha cha either for awhile j/s

Just_Lin said...

I had to change out of my party dress. Apparently, I slept in it. That's something I've never done before, although I've slept in my makeup many, many times.

whabbear said...

Good morning, owls! I'm doing janitor duty at the manor this morning with a real hangover from the real Christmas party we were at last night. Not fun! LOL!

sacBarb said...

Happy Sunday Owls.

This place is kinda messy and very wet. Mo is still sucking up water that was flowing down the stairs like a waterfall. Who left all those snowballs up there? Thanks Mo and Birdee for cleaning up.

Birdee, congrats on being the early birdee today. You really do need some clothes. It is a bit nippley in here.

Zona, thanks for the cookies. Tell Mr. Z he did a good job.

Dianne, I don't think we are getting the big game on TV here, but I have to usher today anyway. I'll just have to get the news when I get home. Zona, did you light the candles?

Tink, have fun with the family today.

J/L, from A51-I cooked beef stroganoff for dinner last night. It was Dean's request and I sent all the leftovers home with him.

Bear, *whispering* maybe a little 'hair of the dog' will help the hangover.

sacBarb said...

Tina, I really like this song too. I also like the Clay Akins version.

My son and I had this same conversation last night about what he was like as a teenager (he had a rough teenage) and how he turned out. He thanked me for never giving up on him, and I told him he just didn't know how many times I gave up on him, worrying that he would not be a happy, productive human being. He finally got it all figured out and is happy now.

It sounds like your kids will all be kind, loving adults cause they are already that way which is a testament to your (despite what Dianne said) and Mr. T's parenting.

Thanks for sharing the song with us.

Dianne/Denver said...

SacBarb, that was MONTH that said that about TINA not sweet me. And nit fair that Zona is lighting candles for the Raiders

Maureen said...

DIANNE...You are such a tattle-tale. If SACBARB wants to think you said that, then so be it!!
Hmmpft...I am taking off my Bronco's gear and rooting for some other team ;)~

WHABBY...GOOD MORNING! OPPS, SORRY FOR SHOUTING! lol!

SACBARB...LOVE stroganoff!

JUST LIN...at least you still had your party dress on to sleep in...ijs!!

Hello All and Happy Sunday!

Congrats on first Birdee.

This is a great song. I really enjoyed it. Thanks Tina!

Well, I had some holiday cheer last night and the hubster got to be the DD. Ha Ha Ha..and Ho Ho Ho. :) Today, I hate myself for it. I don't like wasting a day feeling a little like I have Swine flu without the "s".

Afternoon Glories!

Well I woke up in water! WTF I thought I had wet the bed and now looking around the manor I see Shirley was up to her tricks again!

Tina I am still watching to see what the kids will do and end up doing. I will say they are caring and loving people and respect others so I can't ask for much more.

Went and saw Avatar in 3D. Pay the extra money if you are going to go see it. The 3D effect really makes this film visually glorius. I am not much of a SciFi fan but really enjoyed it.

TINA - This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. 13 years ago Christmas took on extra meaning to me when I was pregnant during the holidays with Tim. I really identified with Mary that Christmas!!

I must apologize for not attending the party yesterday. Got busy wrapping gifts and preparing to go to GOLDIE'S party. And what a party it was!!! MR. GOLDIE sure knows how to pour a stiff drink. Thankfully my hubby drove us all home safely!!!

I hope everyone has a great night. Just finished wrapping the rest of my gifts and working on laundry.

whabbear said...

OK, Barb, if you insist, we'll drag our sorry carcasses out to the Lone Star and then to ANOTHER Christmas party. If you insist!

DIANNE...didja see...the Browns won again!! 41 -34!! Woo Hoo

OMG, on way home from party with my tail between my legs. I can't believe the Raiders beat us by a point. We played terrible even with the raiders using their third QB most if the game. Ok, I will (gulp) say it--congratulations SACBARB and ZONA on your win-you too Month. Dang phone with ur name

Mary/MI said...

Good evening everyone!
Birdee, congrats on first! My what fine breasts you have there! Kinda making me hungry lol!

Tina,Loved the song. I can't say that I have ever heard it. I miss our old Kenny too!

Diane, sorry about the Broncs :(. Our Lions started off bad and then made a grand comeback, only to lose by a touch down!

Zona,pass the warm cookies please!

Mo, did I read you right? You are sucking up water & urine? Geesh I what are you smoking girlfriend?

JustLin, I bet you're glad you don't have to listen to your Son's music anymore lol! I wonder what his kids think of it with the "rap" sound out there?

Tinka,I think it was better that you missed the party last night. You would have been caught in Shirley's snowball crossfire!

Whabbear, you best save yourself for the upcoming New Years Eve parties!

Donna, congrats on your Raiders!

Jodi,I was wondering, how far do you live from Goldie?

I am off to farm!

Dianne/Denver said...

MARY...WHO IS DONNA?

Mary/MI said...

Diane, oops, I meant SacBarb! lol!!

Mary/MI said...

Well, that could have been Donna Jean :)

Hey Zona, The candles worked!!!!! Thanks for the text Dianne. I was in a dark theater and I'm not supposed to use my cell, but when I saw it was you I just had to know. I was sitting way in the back, so no one saw me.

Mo, I hadn't made stroganoff for a very long time, but it was very good. My very skinny DIL not only took a second helping, after I packed up the left-overs, she licked the spoon.

I am watching the finale of Survivor. This has been a very weird season.

RAIDERS WIN!!

DIANNE: Mr Z baked all the cookies last night and I iced about 1/3 of them this morning then took a nap. I woke up and heard your message and just screamed! WOO-HOO! I was so happy! I'm going to ice and decorate the other 400 or so cookies tonight with a big smile on my face! Life is good.. :D

Oh and DIANNE..if it was anybody but the Raiders..you know I'd say I'm sorry you lost..right? :)

SACBARB: I DID! I DID! But Mr Z blew it out so there wouldn't be a fire..I guess it was all natural Raider talent today! :)

TINKA: There seems to be a neverending list of things to get done at this time of year..something new comes up every day..Do what you can..don't push yourself too hard..kay? :)

J/LIN: Mr Z's baking is all for work..over 800 sugar cookies and 400 chocolate chip. I ice and decorate the sugar cookies..and out the door they go! He will bake some for us on Christmas Eve eve though. He made no bake cookies that are kind of like a praline..but with chocolate..so yummy. I have to be very careful..I ate two and was bouncing off the walls..I've cut way back on sugar and those cookies are just loaded with it!

MO: C'mon over to the Raiders! I won't tell on you.. ;)

LYNN: That's one thumbs up for AVATAR..that'll be enough for Mr Z to go see it..cuz he really wants to anyway!

JODI: You may not have attended the Christmas Party..but you were here in spirit..in fact you won the wet T-shirt contest on the girl's reputation alone! :D

MARY: Which cookies would you like? Or maybe..one of each..and a piece of fudge too perhaps? :)

BEBBI: It's the holidays..you're entitled to have some fun..sorry you had a hangover though!

BEAR: Sorry you weren't feeling well this morning..it's kinda worth it though..isn't it? ;)

BIRDEEE! Congrats on 50! You look so cuddly and warm..but stay away from Boz..he may think you're a toy! :D

The power of Google..our HDTV broke today..we've only had it two years..but the warranty is up. I went online and googled the make and model..seems a lot of people have had the exact same problem. One guy put a video up on YouTube showing how to fix it..the parts only cost $4.00! Mr Z watched the vid and is pretty sure he can do it..the TV is a gone anyway..so he really can't mess it up. He's going to try it this weekend..keep your fingers crossed for him!

MO: Here we go again! ;)

Mary/MI said...

Zona, Our living room tv keeps wanting to take a dive. Right now it's the color. Everyone looks green lol!
I will take one of each please. I love love fudge!!
I don't bake anymore. My son was diagnosed with Diabetes this year. It seems cruel to bake his fave, Christmas sugar cookies! :(

Birdeeeee I just noticed your new outfit! OUTSTANDING LOL!!

Jodi said...

MARY - I live only about 20 minutes from GOLDIE!!

ZONA - Thanks for the vote of confidence!! It's all in the packaging.....REALLY!!!

Just_Lin said...

Zona I baked and iced some sugar cookies today and also made some chocolate chip cookies. My numbers are only in the dozens, though, not hundreds. My mom will be bringing two other types of cookies and lots of fudge when she and my brother drive up on Tuesday.
What is the make and model of your tv? I need to get a new one and I guess I don't want it to be that one. ;)

Mary I have an old console tv and I know it doesn't have much life left in it but it's been a great tv and I have no idea what kind I should get next time.

Birdee I'm so glad to see you looking all cozy and warm in your new outfit.

Dianne I am not happy about the outcome of the 49er game either. :(
