Say What?

by Shirley

My sister sent me these embarrassing medical exam stories and I thought I'd share them with all of you. Enjoy!

Embarrassing Medical Exams

1. A man comes into the ER and yells 'My wife's going to have her baby in the cab.' I grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the cab, lifted the lady's dress and began to take off her underwear. Suddenly I noticed that there were several cabs - - - and I was in the wrong one.
Submitted by Dr. Mark MacDonald, San Francisco

2. At the beginning of my shift I placed a stethoscope on an elderly and slightly deaf female patient's anterior chest wall. Big breaths,'. . . I instructed. 'Yes, they used to be,'. . .replied the patient.
Submitted by Dr. Richard Byrnes, Seattle , WA

3. One day I had to be the bearer of bad news when I told a wife that her husband had died of a massive myocardial infarct. Not more than five minutes later, I heard her reporting to the rest of the family that he had died of a 'massive internal fart.'
Submitted by Dr. Susan Steinberg

4. During a patient's two week follow-up appointment with his cardiologist, he informed me, his doctor, that he was having trouble with one of his medications. 'Which one ?' I asked. 'The patch ... The Nurse told me to put on a new one every six hours and now I'm running out of places to put it!' I had him quickly undress and discovered what I hoped I wouldn't see. Yes, the man had over fifty patches on his body! Now, the instructions include removal of the old patch before applying a new one.
Submitted by Dr. Rebecca St. Clair, Norfolk , VA

5. While acquainting myself with a new elderly patient, I asked, 'How long have you been bedridden?' After a look of complete confusion she answered . . . Why, not for about twenty years - when my husband was alive.'
Submitted by Dr. Steven Swanson Corvallis , OR

6. I was performing rounds at the hospital one morning and while checking
up on a man I asked . .'So how's your breakfast this morning?' It's very good except for the Kentucky Jelly. I can't seem to get used to the taste.' Bob replied. I then asked to see the jelly and Bob produced a foil packet labeled 'KY Jelly.'
Submitted by Dr. Leonard Kransdorf, Detroit

7. A nurse was on duty in the Emergency Room when a young woman with
purple hair styled into a punk rocker Mohawk, sporting a variety of tattoos, and wearing strange clothing, entered. It was quickly determined that the patient had acute appendicitis, so she was scheduled for immediate surgery. When she was completely disrobed on the operating table, the staff noticed that her pubic hair had been dyed green and above it there was a tattoo that read ' Keep off the grass.' Once the surgery was completed, the surgeon wrote a short note on the patient's dressing, which said 'Sorry, had to mow the lawn.'
Submitted by RN no name

AND FINALLY!! ! . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

8. As a new, young MD doing his residency in OB. I was quite embarrassed when performing female pelvic exams... To cover my embarrassment I had unconsciously formed a habit of whistling softly. The middle-aged lady upon whom I was performing this exam suddenly burst out laughing and further embarrassing me. I looked up from my work and sheepishly said. . . ' I'm sorry. Was I tickling you?' She replied with tears running down her cheeks from laughing so hard . 'No doctor, but the song you were whistling was . . I wish I was an Oscar Meyer Wiener.'
Doctor wouldn't submit his name....

Happy Monday Owls.

Thanks for the early morning smiles, Shirley. I hope you are feeling better today.

I woke up at 7am and turned on the TV to see snow falling in Sacramento county. WHAT??? In my neighborhood it isn't sticking, but Sharon's neighborhood is blanketed. People are loving it. Sorry Goldie.

Lois, congrats on first. Hi to Goldie, DeeDee and Bonachichi and all the other Owls.

Hi again everyone......

I just got a text from Tina saying they made it to the docs office....her Mom needed the car and Tina can't drive a stick so her Dad drove them....lol...in the rain....

Tina has the wrong concept of old....her Dad is younger than me!! I think I am a better driver now than ever.....as long as my telephone books don't slide out from under me.....

Hi Bonacci.....you have a new bird waiting for you!!!

sacBarb said...

OK, this snow storm has given the local news station an excuse to kick the Today show off the air. I guess I'll watch GMA this morning. I've already had enough of looking at snow on the roads and in viewers yards.

bonachichi said...

Thanks for the birds, DeeDee. The one you sent as well as all those you've flipped my way.

Poor Tina is experiencing a rare weather phenemona we have here once in a while. The news is calling it, "light rain". Whatever it is, we are falling to pieces. We don't know how to drive in the rain. We don't even know how to turn our windshield wipers on.

lol Bonacci.....

***NEWS ALERT***

The escaped convict has finally been captured this morning in Houston.....YAY!!

I kind of feel sorry for him....they said his clothes were torn and he was filthy...and offered no resistance......who knows what motivates a man like that....or how he came to be a criminal.....he is somebody's son......but I hope he finds some peace with his circumstances and what he has done....

I hate to know someone is suffering when all they have to do is start with the day they are in and believe they have something to contribute......

Morning!
Congrats on 1st NN
I am on the run as usual (DeeDee,no I am not on the lam lol!)
We are expecting a bad snow storm here too Goldie. I am expecting my new counter top on Wed.The snow is supposed to start Tues, night! Wed. was the magic date to have everything wired and plumbing hooked up. It will be interesting. If they all (plumbers, electricians & counter top guys) all show up I will be cleaning up a lot of sloppy floors!
I need to get going. Have a great day everyone!

BTW,Shirley, I loved today's blog. It got me started on a good note :)

Good afternoon and congrats on 1st No Newz!

Good afternoon DeeDee, Bonachichi, Goldie, SacBarb and Carol.

I'm glad I could start your day off with a chuckle or two! Tis the season to be jolly, even ho ho hos, right?! LOL!

Shirley(NCC-1701) said...

Good afternoon Mary! I hope everything works out with your kitchen. Get a couple cardboard boxes and put down on the floor, then you won't have to mop so much.

Just_Lin said...

NN/LL Congrats on peaking in first today! How fun that you got to meet with Jodi and the two Jennifers the other day.

DeeDee You look absolutely fetching in your holiday outfit.

Bonach LOL @ not even knowing how to turn on the wipers! It is so true that people act like it is a catastrophic event to have a little rain here in California. Our local news loves to have "storm watch". We love our drama, apparently.

Goldie I've never had to live where it snows and I don't think I'd like it.

SacBarb Our news is showing us all the pics, too.

Carol Glad to hear you are busy at the office today. That's good news. Oh, and my internet is back to normal now, thankfully.

Mary Getting a new kitchen sure takes a lot of work and time, and there are so many decisions to make. It's going to be so nice when it's all done. You're going to love it!

Shirley Thanks for the laughs this morning. I hope you're feeling better.

****ANNOUNCEMENT****

I don't have any Christmas cards yet but I'd love to exchange cards with all the Hooters. If I don't yet have your address and you'd like to exchange cards, please send me a message on MS. Thanks.

bonachichi said...

Oh, that's right! Christmas cards. I don't do them anymore. Too much pressure. I could have an internal fart from them.

bonachichi said...

We are having some good rain now. Today's trash day as well. Trash can ballet!! The gutters fill up with water and the trash cans float down to the bottom of the street. Pretty!

Dianne/Denver said...

Hi and good evening everyone! It's 12 degrees and gloomy out although the sun was peeking in and out. I went to a really nice Christmas/late Birthday lunch with a friend today to a place that was all decorated for Christmas and so pretty. We went to the movie after lunch to see Everybody's Fine with Drew Barrymore and Robert Di Nero. It was a good movie and touching.

SHIRLEY: I loved your blog today. It was very funny and I like the "jelly" the best. I hope you are feeling much better today.

MARY: Am I reading right that you have the runs? Hmmmm better take care of that right away as it could be messier that snow on your floors.

JODI, GOLDIE AND MARY: I don't think you have even had snow this winter yet, have you? Quit whining ....we are supposed to have snow and cold where we live...now SACBARB, maybe a different story for you. Isn't it supposed to be beautiful where you live?

Don't forget Carrie Underwrood Christmas special on tonight. I think I will go to Walmart now as maybe it won't be so crowded and look for a couple of specials from Sunday's paper.

BBL.....

TINA: Glad you are home safe....now get warm!

Maureen said...

SHIRLEY...those were hysterical! Stuff like that can't be made up!! Thanks for the chuckles.

I hope you're feeling better today.

SACBARB...snow in Sac?? Wow that is special and I bet NO ONE can drive in it!!

GOLDIE...that sucks...12 - 14 inches of snow. YUCK!

Waving a wing to all that have landed and those yet to stop in

Shirley: The "cab" story just cracked me up! I wonder if "playing Doctor" in some public place was the woman in the wrong cab's biggest fantasy?

And speaking of stupid human tricks (meant almost literally!), check out this latest story about Tiger Woods:

Mindy Lawton, 33, an Orlando, Florida-based waitress, has said she had a year-long affair with Woods, according to the Huffington Post. Relatives of Lawton, an $8-an-hour diner waitress and manager, were extensively quoted in an article in the Mail Online, stating that the 34-year-old naively believed that Woods was in love with and faithful to her over the course of their affair, which involved encounters at his suburban Florida home."

OK, owls! Um, didn't we just see this plot last night on Desperate Housewives? LOL!

sacBarb said...

Well, It's been dripping here all day. No more snow at this level. Tina, I don't think all the snow dropped here, so get ready. It's on it's way to you. Dianne, it might even get to CO.

We were told to cover our outdoor plants because it's going to freeze overnight. What do they call what happened last night?

Bebbilane said...

Lois: Congrats on first.

The one that made me laugh the most was the lady who said he died of a big internal fart. That was funny! Great ones, Shirley!

Shirley(NCC-1701) said...

Glad you you all found the blog funny. I liked the "bedridden" one. Thanks for the comments. I'm off to bed.
Good night!

Tina~in_ut said...

okay J/L~ I finally got to listen to Adam's from yestiddy~ I guess it's allright~ i guess~ :)~

Just_Lin said...

Tina Wow, high praise from you for Adam! LOL It is a nice song and he does have a good voice. He may not have been your fav but you must admit the kid can carry a tune and is a showman. :)

As for Xmas cards....I finally bought some today and have begun addressing them. It is taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r!!!! I've only done a ten and have already screwed up 3 envelopes! This is an all time record for me. Those of you who hand make your cards....I don't know how you have the time. You must start in July or something.

Just_Lin said...

I don't know how some of you people live in the cold climates that you do. It was 45 today and I was freezing! Everyone I encountered today was whining about how cold they were. Right now I am in sweat pants, sweater and fleece jacket and I have the heater cranked up. It's supposed to be 34 tonight, here on the coast. We are not used to this. I'm not liking it much.

Dianne/Denver said...

J/L: We would like a 34 degrees right now. It usually isn't this cold until january but below 0 is even cold for me!

Just_Lin said...

Dianne You must wear a lot of layers.
